Yet Another College Essay: Alone

Are we alone?

This is a question that has been asked by many over time, and is still going to be asked for years to come. Humans, as a species, are pack animals. We have the desire to be with others, and this desire extends to other beings, sometimes those of an extraterrestrial nature. This desire makes the question a moot point, because people will never be truly alone. While our desire to be with others makes us question if we are alone, our desire to be with others makes us never truly alone. People seek out others in their lives, be they other people, animals, or in the case of Tom Hanks, volleyballs. Homo sapiens will never be alone, or at least while they don't have to live in fear. However, where things are going at the moment, this time won't last much longer. Problems affect our world all over, from poverty to famine to mass extinction. These problems need to be solved, or humanity will be truly alone, for we will have pushed everything we had away from us. This is the reason I need to go to college: to solve problems. I can solve bigger and more pertinent problems with the education a college can provide. Making sure that this world's a safe place, making sure people don't have to feel alone, that's my main goal in life. College can help me achieve this goal. Many people ask the question "Are we alone?" . I ask "How can I make sure we aren't?".
