How to Write a Good Fanfiction: A 5 Step Manual
Hello! My name is @love_kurdt, also known as Eva, and I’m a Wattpad Veteran of the early 2010s, where the genres of Slash Fics, Y/N, and Imagines ran rampant. I spent years of my life as a kid scrolling through my iPod touch, weeding through Wattpad’s plethora of profiles, on a quest to find quality fanfictions. I found a handful, which I added to a specific reading list to come back to when I needed a break from screaming into my pillow because of the sheer audacity of thought-criminals who called themselves writers.
When I’d reached the point of reading the same five works over and over in a never ending cycle, I decided to make the life-altering decision to start publishing my fanfictions online. Granted, I was only thirteen at this point, so my writing wasn’t spectacular by any means, but I came to discover that over time, the mere acts of reading and writing can light a spark of inspiration that can carry you to creative success.
I’ve been writing my own works for over ten years now, and can confidently say that I have cracked the code to writing a good fanfiction that will have your readers captivated instead of cringing. Please don’t get me wrong– if you want to just write fanfic on the internet for fun, and not to write a novel, that’s great, too! That’s what the internet is for; exercising your free will. But this manual is tailored towards those who want to hone in on their craft and gain a substantial following as strictly fanfiction authors. So without further ado, let’s jump into it. Godspeed!
Step 1: Choose Your Fandom
What show, movie, or book has drawn you in and left you feeling like there should be more to the story? When one of those media comes to mind, you’ve chosen your fandom!
Step 2: Do Your Research
When writing fanfiction, it’s kind of an unspoken rule that you need to know the canon of the fandom you’re writing about. The canon is also known as the source material. For example, if someone were to write a Draco Malfoy x OC fanfiction (*cough* a 200+ page Draco Malfoy self insert fic written at 11 years old in a series of notebooks bound together with multiple layers of Gorilla tape *cough*), the canon would be the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. It’s, in essence, what “really” happened. It’s totally fine if you want to write a non-canon compliant fic, too! In fact, they’re extremely popular, specifically within the “fix-it” genre, which usually involves characters that died in the canon but the author kept alive in their fanfiction. Either way, you should have a general idea of how the canon functions within the context of the fandom, so you can make creative choices that diverge from or stick to the canon.
With the canon comes the fanon, which is basically a compilation of fan theories and headcanons that are often common themes in both canon and non-canon compliant fanfics. A pretty niche example of this is the Byler fandom (the ship between Stranger Things characters Will Byers and Mike Wheeler), where there’s an official list of theories on Tumblr that are used in many, if not most Byler fanfictions. There’s FlickerGate, where the flickering of the garage light in Season 1 is actually Will and Mike in the Upside Down in Season 5. There’s BirthdayGate, where the antagonist, Vecna, manipulates the minds of everyone in Hawkins to forget Will’s birthday, which is a central plot point in a lot of Byler fics since no one seems to remember it, not even his best friend. There’s also LetterGate, where Will confronts Mike in the canon about not sending any letters after he’d moved away, but the theory reveals that Mike wrote plenty of letters– he just never sent them because they ended up turning into love letters, which in turn resulted in internalized homophobia. You get the picture. Most theories reach far into the land of delusion, but it doesn’t stop writers from creating incredible work that could easily be mistaken for a script.
But Eva, what if I just think the characters are hot and I don’t give a shit about the cannonball? I can’t tell you what to do, my friend, but I highly suggest you at least consider the canon so you can avoid all the petty, obnoxious gatekeepers in some fandoms who can be unhinged enough to send death threats if you leave out a significant canonical detail. But you do you!
Step 3: Choose Your Platform
There are three popular platforms to choose from: Archive of Our Own (ao3), Tumblr, and Wattpad. There are also a few other lesser known or dead pages such as fanfiction.net, but I honestly wouldn’t bother with those, since they’re more infiltrated with anons and bots nowadays.
This is where you want to think about 1) where most of the members in the fandom you chose reside, and 2) the demographic of readers you want to reach. For example, I observed a higher number of Nirvana fans on Wattpad than the other two platforms, which is why I chose to post my full length Kurt Cobain fanfiction, “You Know You’re Right,” on there. It also helped that my favorite author of another Kurt Cobain fanfiction on Wattpad, @/ugh-nirvana, had hits in the hundreds of thousands, so I was confident that my book would do well on that specific platform. On the other hand, the Stranger Things fandom is in full swing on Tumblr and ao3, so I chose to post those fanfictions on there rather than on Wattpad. It all just depends on who’s where.
You also have to consider how active you want to be on your platform(s). Tumblr is more of a blog situation, while ao3 and Wattpad are solely for publishing the work. If you want to have a life beyond the realms of the world wide web, choose Wattpad or ao3, as inconsistent updates are a bit more accepted than on Tumblr. But if you want to throw yourself headfirst into a fandom and put your whole author-ussy into your fanfic, then Tumblr is the platform for you.
You should be aware, however, that Tumblr involves a lot of upkeep, as well as constant, strategic, and active participation within your fandom. Visual aesthetic is vital to any functional Tumblr blog. Most profiles have directories, with color coded links to each work’s homepage, which is linked to each individual chapter, which are then distinguished by a unique GIF to capture a prospective reader’s attention while they’re scrolling through copious amounts of content. And there are always new ideas and theories in development in certain fandoms, so it’s crucial to keep up with recent updates in order to stay relevant.
After all is said and done, you don’t have to get married to one platform for the rest of your life. You can choose to be exclusive to one or two platforms, or publish everything on all of them! The decision is ultimately yours!
Step 4: Obey the Writer’s Trifecta of Consistency
Yes, I came up with this term, and yes, it should be a real thing. Because in every piece of writing, whether it be fanfiction, a short story, an actual book, a screenplay, what have you, it is critical to be consistent in your People, your POV, and your Plot. Let me explain.
People
Your people, or your ensemble of characters, consists of three hierarchical levels: your protagonist/antagonist, your side characters, and other background characters. I should emphasize the importance of building character profiles for everyone, including your pre-existing characters from the fandom, but specifically for your original character(s) if you have them. That way, you know who serves as a major plot device, who serves as someone who just helps time move faster, and those who are mentioned by name but have very little significance to the events of the story. I’m going to reference Harry Potter again, since most of the world is familiar with the characters. Harry and Voldemort are the protagonist and antagonist; Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Professor Dumbledore, Hagrid and company are side characters; and Peeves, Seamus Finnigan, and Blaise Zabini are background characters. Keep this hierarchy in check; don’t let your main characters fade away, and don’t let your background characters shift to the forefront for no reason. If you do plan to move a character up or down the ladder, make sure to have clear motive as to why you’re bringing this character into or out of play.
2. POV
Your POV is the point of view in which you’re writing from. Assuming you’ve been in a typical middle school English class, you’ve heard of the first, second, and third person points of view. I cannot tell you how many times I have read fanfictions that jump from one POV to another, sometimes within the same sentence. I open the door and see Kurt Cobain standing in the corner of the room. She walked across the floor to meet him there. See what I did there? I jumped from first person present tense to third person past tense. Do not attempt this at home.
The least common of the three points of view is the second person, or what I like to call the Y/N point of view. In fanfiction, second person POV is often used in self-insert fics, where instead of a character’s name, it’s replaced with “you.” That’s why a lot of romantic character x reader fics are so popular. You should feel free to use this one, especially if that’s the kind of vibe you’re going for, but I’m going to elaborate a little bit more on first and third person, as they’re a bit more “literary.”
The first person POV confines the narration to the mind of one character. It can also be done with multiple characters, but be sure to do it so it’s painstakingly obvious to the reader whose POV you’re writing from. Also note that if you plan to write multiple first person POVs, try to keep that number on the lower side, as a large number of POVs can get really complicated really quickly. Third person narration can be done from two angles: limited or omniscient. Limited is more similar to first person, in which you’re confined to one person’s viewpoint, but they aren’t the narrator; you’re just seeing the story through their eyes. Omniscient is my favorite, because you can narrate from a bird’s eye view with the freedom to travel from mind to mind and read their thoughts.
Building character profiles can be really helpful when developing both first or third person POV; if you connect with a particular character more strongly than the rest, that should tell you whose POV you should write in. If you choose to switch POVs, be sure to do it either on an alternating/rotating basis, or if you repeat, it should be apparent as to why that particular character is the “voice” of that scene.
3. Plot
Dare I say that Plot is the most important step of them all, so do not skip this one, whatever you do! The biggest mistake most fanfiction writers make is having a concept but lacking a plot. It’s like biting into an apple just to discover it’s a lemon. Many writers are capable of starting off strong, but once their initial story begins to meander, traveling into uncharted territory, their brainchild can become a monstrosity.
In order to write a solid plot, it’s pretty common knowledge that you need to have a beginning, middle, and end in place. It doesn’t need to be overly specific or down to the last detail, you just need to figure out how your characters make it from point A to point Z (the larger scale), and how points B through Y factor into the plot (the smaller scale). There are a few routes that you can take in order to do this: you can write the entire thing ahead of time without any input, you can write the entire thing with the feedback of a beta reader or proofreader to help you work out any kinks or mistakes before you publish it for the entire platform to see, or you can publish it gradually and take feedback from your readers as you go. Should you go with the last option, though, you should be made aware that if you aren’t already an established author, it may feel like you’re talking to a wall, and you will likely feel discouraged from writing the story altogether.
I find it helpful to outline the whole thing. I have a closet door in my house dedicated to a Dave Grohl true crime fanfiction I’m working on. I’ve written the entire story from beginning to end on index cards, split into four different parts with each card representing a chapter. What’s good about outlining is that I can edit my story as I go along. If I decide to change something, I can add or remove an index card, then replace or rearrange the other index cards to work around the change I made, and that way, I don’t have to start over from scratch. It’s helpful to see everything laid out in front of me, so I’m not left at the end of a completely improvised plot with a slew of loose ends that I’ll need to go back and edit. It’s also better than publishing each part individually then having to redo everything after your readers have already seen it. And I don’t know about you, but I enjoy it when I’m able to save some time, energy, and lengthy explanations to random people online. That is, unless you enjoy constant feedback from readers, in which case you can change the plot on a chapter by chapter basis based on their feedback.
Consistency in all of these respects is key. I cannot emphasize this enough. Keeping all of these elements in check will help you create a sort of cohesiveness that will neatly wrap the story up with a little bow on top.
Step 5: Use Relevant Tags and Content Warnings
Repeat after me: tags matter! Again: tags matter! When you’re about to publish your fanfiction, you’re going to be given the option to add tags to your work. For my first few years spent on Wattpad, I had no idea what tags were, so I didn’t use them. Thankfully, the platform was still pretty small, so people still found my work pretty easily. Nowadays, though, it’s nearly impossible to find what you’re looking for without searching excessively specific tags and using a million filters. It’s unfortunate, but look at it this way: there are so many people contributing to so many fandoms that the content is seemingly endless!
What you’re going to want to do is add as many tags as you can but keep it as simple as possible. I know that sounds kind of oxymoronic, but I mean it in a way that all of your tags relate directly to your story, and not just to the fandom itself. A lot of readers feel misled when they’re scrolling through their filtered search page for, let’s just say, a Byler fanfic, and end up neck deep in a Mileven fanfic in disguise. That’s not a fun experience.
Lastly, please remember that you are publishing your work on the internet, and you don’t know who may encounter your work! Listen, we live in a world where everything needs to be overexplained, everything needs trigger warnings, and everything needs to be neutral or else someone is going to hate you. I get it. I’ve been writing fanfiction for a long time. It might be annoying to add content warnings, especially if one of those warnings spoils a major plotline, but if I’m being honest, I’d rather be safe and add the damn warning than not add the warning and be responsible for someone’s worsened emotional or mental state. Bottom line, it’s just fanfiction! Let’s do our due diligence to create a community full of love and understanding for everyone!
After that, you should be all set to publish! Let’s review one more time for the road:

Choose Your Platform
Obey the Writer’s Trifecta of Consistency

Thank you to @theboyfrommakapu for the tag! Post under the read more.
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
26 total (although I think I have 2 or 3 that I either orphaned or deleted, can’t remember) on uhmeduh.
Oh, and 2 on another account I made specifically for my bad 10 year old me’s fanfics. No, you don’t get that one.
2) What’s your total AO3 word count?
126 862. Which is, frankly, more than I thought. I think it’s grown quite a bit in 2021, to be fair.
3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
7, according to AO3. One is an original work, so I guess 6? Except Far Cry 4 and 5 are considered different by AO3, as are Persona 2 and 5. I personally consider it like 4 or 5 fandoms.
A:TLA— 20 fics
Persona 2 & 5— 1 fic (crossover between the two)
Far Cry 4 & 5— 1 fic (crossover between the two)
PJO and related fandoms— 3 fics
Original Work— 1 fic
4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. Silence is a Virtue — 191 kudos
2. sometimes you’re born evil (sometimes you’re not) — 149 kudos
3. In Which Ajay Just Wants a Vacation — 91 kudos
4. musings of a common man — 75 kudos
5. Lost. [tied with] undercurrent — 37 kudos each
Silence is a Virtue and IWAJWAV are both multi chapter fics at 23.6k and 19.2k, respectively. sybe (syn), moacm, and undercurrent are all part of the same series of short fics and range from 4.4k (unfinished) to 7k. Lost. is a theoretical first chapter of a multi chapter fic. 4/6 fics are ATLA, 1 is Far Cry, 1 is PJO.
5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Yeah! I used to not because I’m incredibly awkward about it, but when I started commenting on fics myself and realized how nice it is when the author replies, I started doing it myself. I really enjoy recognizing regular commenters. I just need to stop talking so much about worldbuilding and hinting at stuff in my replies, I think ^^’.
6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Hm. Probably either what is a legacy to a dead man (it is worth far more to those still living) or Shattered Porcelain. The former is most likely more angsty to readers, but the latter holds a special place in my mind because I know my OCs intimately well.
7) What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
Most of them, to be honest. I am, at my core, a fluff writer, even if I also enjoy throwing in sprinkles of angst every so often. The entire the dragon king series is going to end pretty happy if it goes according to plan. If I had to pick a finished fic then probably Apricot Blossoms— it’s just sweet kids in love, you barely notice the darkness on the horizon.
8) Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
Kinda? Sorta? Not really? Two of my published fics are crossovers but they’re like, crossovers within the same extended fandom.
Oh, wait, that one fic I wrote and published when I was 11 was a weird Harry Potter and mild Avengers crossover. So yeah, I guess.
9) Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Not really, no. I occupy a pretty niche area in all the fandoms I write in, so you kind of have to search out the content I make. I’m also not popular at all in the grand scheme of things, which I’m mildly thankful for. I have some popular fic writers as friends and I see some of their commenters sometimes.
10) Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I guess? It’s not something I make a habit of, I just in general am not that horny, but I have one published smutfic on AO3 and a ficlet on Tumblr that, if it isn’t really classified as smutc definitely is close. The smut I write is pretty soft and loving and is exclusively LuZhao so far.
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I know.
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope. If someone wants to I’m all for it, and theoretically I could translate my own fics into two other languages, but if there isn’t a demand there wouldn’t be much purpose other than me practicing. Who knows though, maybe one of my fics on my account will show up translated into French or Norwegian by me. Or maybe Russian, but that would be an effort. My Russian... isn’t great.
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Currently (kinda, fixing my laptop has made it take a hot second) co-writing an OC centric fic with @theboyfrommakapu. I also betaread two of @izzymrdb’s fics, and she called me their coauthor in a comment once so... I guess that counts? I also had plans to make a massive crossover with my own fic and two of my friends but then I fell out of PJO and into ATLA pretty hard.
14) What’s your all-time favorite ship?
LuZhao, definitely. I’ve just created enough stuff around it to make it my favourite. I’m also quite fond of Jastavian in the realm of PJO.
15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I fully intend to finish my two main multichapter fics eventually, but I doubt I’ll ever finish Butterfly Kisses. Especially to the extent I have it in my mind.
16) What are your writing strengths?
Uh... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe worldbuilding within an established world? I actually prefer AUs to canon compliance, but when I want something to be canon compliant then I will make sure that it is as fully canon compliant as possible (or, to the extent that canon doesn’t contradict itself). For example, at the moment all of my OCs are completely canon compliant. If I somehow were asked to publish them, they would not contradict any existing work. I put a lot of work into my OCs and worldbuilding and it definitely shows.
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
If you asked my girlfriend? My paragraphs are too long and I don’t know how to use commas. She’s right about that, of course.
If you asked me? I’d probably say something a little more vague. I’m bad at the whole “communicating just enough” aspect of writing (and of life). I tend to get absorbed by my worldbuilding and want to tell everyone every little detail, which makes no sense because you don’t need to know it for the fic’s promises.
18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
So long as a translation is provided, I see no issue if it’s accurate. One of my first fandoms was Hetalia so... yeah.
19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?
I’m not sure if it was Harry Potter, Sherlock, or Hetalia. But it was definitely one of those three and I was about 10 when I wrote it.
20) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
Surprisingly I haven’t mentioned it so far, but solntse moye / luna moya. Azulon and Ilah have a relationship I really like, and they both have such distinct inner voices.
Tagging:
@percabeth4life @izzymrdb @crookedmouth-mountainbones @ohmygodtheywereparabatai (I know you write on Tumblr so this would be hard, but consider it another request for you to post your stuff on AO3 ❤️) @thetruecthulhu9 @ariya-167

Director's Cut!!! ⭐ Leaving it open to whichever story you like, because this seems like a bit of a difficult question . . .
Fanfic Writer's Director Commentary | Ask Box
-
This question wasn't so difficult as it was deciding what fic I wanted to talk about. Mostly because there are some I talk about a lot and don't really know what else is new (ha ha), and also because I haven't figured out of the others I don't talk about much, which to choose. So, I decided to talk about my fics and OCs in general.
So here we go! Put under "read more" for length and spoiler stuff.
-
A lot of the times when I create my fics and OCs, if you pay close attention, you’ll find that at the time of their creation, I’m in the middle of a time where I’m obsessed or “stuck” on an idea or a sort of theme:
Names: At one point, a lot ideas for names I would come with for OCs would be names that start with the letter “R”, or the letter “A” because I was really into those names at the time
Backstory; Before I made Averey Moore (Flash/Criminal Minds) a half-sister to Barry Allen, I had that same idea for my Digimon OC (still not named) to be a half-sibling to Izzy Izumi - I also considered her FC to be Auriana from LoliRock, using the red hair as the main point. I continued to use this family dynamic with my Harry Potter OC, Verity Calvert (who was originally named Madeline).
Character: And then, there’s little aspects of characters that I put in multiple OCs whether that’s intentional (because it fits with the fandom) or I don’t notice it until later. Issi (Narnia) and Verity (Harry Potter), for example, both have a drive to help people with medicine and aspire to use that information to their advantage in their futures. Plus, they’re opposites of the rich/poor dynamic; Issi is the poor girl to Edmund’s rich boy, and Verity is the rich girl to Fred’s poor boy.
Overall: I don’t have to read/watch a lot of the base media to get an idea for a fanfic or a character. When I say that, I mean that a lot of times I just have to read about a plot point, or see a scene in a tv show.movie to get an idea I need to write. It can go back and forth on whether I create the OC before the idea of the fic, or I have the idea of the fic first and just need an OC to bring it to life.
For example, I was binging through Criminal Minds and got to season seven’s episode about the military school and instantly knew I wanted to make an OC specifically to write a story line/plot point for that episode. That then expanded to the overall story I’m writing for my Criminal Minds fic (Army of One) - the two part season finale also helped. They’re two/three of my favorite episodes of the whole show.
Or, in some cases, I’ll make an OC just because I want to ship them with a character I like a lot. This is partly (I really mean mostly) how i came up with my Harry Potter OC; because I LOVE the character for Fred Weasley. And, as I read through the HP book series (for the billionth time) I decided I wanted to test myself with writing a relationship in the middle of something as dire as a Wizarding War while battling the idea of becoming who your parents have raised you to be in their little bubble world vs who you want to be once your world expands.
For a Director's Commentary about a fic specifically, I'll do my DC Stargirl fic "Collateral Damage."
I decided to go more in depth with the idea of a dual or split personality type of thing that I kind of started with Averey in my Flash fics and push it even more. When I say that I mean I implied and showed that Averey's wrongdoings with the Royal Flush Gang was while she was drugged. I am doing that aspect again with Connie through her parents in an attenmpt to "gaina seat" at Dragon King's table.
No one but them are willing to drug their kids to see what the effect of Miraclo has on a person. This gives Connie her dual/villain side, Cardinal. While Miraclo is in her system, Connie doesn't know what Cardinal gets up to. She just wakes up, or snaps put of it, and has to work through the aftermath of it all.
Plus, besides my Power Rangers OC, I haven't fully immersed myself into writing my OC as a villain you want to root for. And I want to try it out.
(Notice, again, how I have two OCs with a similar base thing I worked into each character. Haha. I just can't help myself.)

Author’s Note: Tumblr’s formatting is so weird and won’t let me indent my paragraphs and it’s kinda driving me crazy.
It didn’t take Gil and I very long to get to Harry. The two of us walked through the bazaar, Gil’s fire still roaring high and my hand ready on my dagger in case someone wanted to cause some unwanted trouble. We finally found him twiddling with his hook and taking a swig from his flask as he stood outside of Shenzi’s Hyena Pub. “Getting tipsy before a hunt, huh? Bad idea, Hooky.” I spoke flirtatiously as we finally came close enough for me to snake my arms around his neck.
Harry plants a quick, fiery kiss on my lips as he responds. “All of my ideas are bad, duckling, that’s what makes them so good.” He smirked as he leaned in to take the kiss further. As tempting as his lips seemed to mine, I put my finger gently on top of them to keep him from deepening his touch.
“Not here, Harry.”
“Why not? We’ve got plenty of time to catch our beast, it’s not like Uma gave us a deadline, right?” His lustful gaze bore deep into my chest, but that gaze was changed to a look of realization as Gil tapped his shoulder, waving excitedly when Harry made eye contact with him. “Oh, that’s why not.”
“Hey, Harry! I’m helping you guys take Ben, isn’t that awesome?” Gil beamed, his disposition faintly switching back and forth between sweet and an angry fire. Harry turned me to the side and lowered his voice as he spoke.
“Since when was Gil a part of this? Did Uma say it was okay?” Harry was a combination of confused and a tad bit paranoid. His free hand gripped onto the arch of his hook, seeming worried that Uma would punish us for letting someone into this special plan of ours.
“Why wouldn’t he be? I mean, you’re strong, Harry, but Gil has the strength to drape you over his shoulder in seconds. Imagine the damage he could do to Ben before Uma ties him up. It’s fitting. The son of Gaston finally hunting down the little legacy of the Beast that made both his and his father’s life miserable. Besides, Gil was third in command before I got here. I think he should stay there.” I looked to Gil as we spoke, watching as he smiled back at me.
“Wouldn’t that knock you down a peg, duckling?”
“Not necessarily. Two people can share a certain amount of power.” I leaned in extra close to his ear, lowering my voice to a husky whisper. “Happens in the bedroom all the time, right, Hooky?” His breath makes a tiny hitch as I take a small, gentle nibble on his earlobe before backing away. Harry smiles before wrapping his arm around Gil and playfully dragging him across the trash-infested streets of the Isle.
Not long after our walk began, we found a familiar looking crowd standing down at the end of the street, with one boy in particular trailing just a bit too far behind. “Huh, that hut at the end of the street looks like Mal’s old place..” Gil pointed at the straying group of kids. Harry quickly knocked his hand down, careful not to draw too much attention to ourselves.
“That is Mal’s old place. And it looks like our prey is falling a bit far behind the pack.” Harry replied. I snickered as I noticed Ben’s naive dancing along the shoulders of the street. Honestly, I’m surprised that he’s lasted this long. But the time for roaming the Isle is long gone for this royal bastard.
“Gil, you should get him now while he’s behind. That way we don’t have to worry about fighting off the entourage.” When I turned my head to gesture Gil towards the baby Beast, his demeanor seemed nervous, unsure. “Gil, what are you waiting for? Go get him, knock him out and bring him to the lower deck of the ship so Uma can tie him up!”
Gil stood still. Frozen and almost dumbfounded by the sight of his greatest enemy standing so close in his sights. “I...I don’t know, Sofi. Maybe I’m not cut out for this after all.” He mumbled, stepping back behind Harry.
“What the fuck are you talking about, not cut out for it? Just a few minutes ago, you were yelling at me with fire in your eyes about how you wanted to be included in things like this!” I gritted my teeth, wanting to yell the boy into shape but not wanting to scare off the Beast.
“I know..and I do. But I just, I’m not very good at hurting people. I don’t..I don’t really know how to do it.” Gil began to stumble on his words as his nervousness grew and grew. Was he really having second thoughts about this when he was so close? Harry grabbed Gil by his shoulders and pulled the blonde closer to him, mere inches separating their faces as their chests touched.
“Gil, sunshine, listen to me. You see that son of a bitch over there?” He asked, pointing to Ben, who didn’t seem to suspect a thing. “That boy’s father had your father nearly killed by pushing him off a cliff. That boy’s father created this hellhole Isle and had you, me, Uma and all the rest of us trapped here without even giving us a chance! Do you think he deserves to walk away from that unscathed?” Gil shook his head, slowly understand Harry’s words but more encaptured by their closeness.
“I mean...I guess hurting Ben would be hurting his dad too, right?”
“Exactly, Gil! That asshole over there made you, your father, and your crew’s life miserable from the jump. I know that pisses you off. So why don’t you get over there and beat him so black and blue his parents won’t recognize him?” Before Gil is able to playfully shout in agreement, Harry grabs Gil by his face and crashes their lips together. My eyes widen at the suddenness of it all, but from Gil’s brightened eyes and motivated smile, I could tell he wasn’t complaining. After the quick collision of their lips had subsided, Gil hastily and quietly ran to hunt his Beast. Waiting for our cue to pass Uma’s message, I look to Harry in a bit of a shock.
“Harry, what was that?” I ask, a small laugh of confusion escaping from my mouth.
“A bit of motivation. Some good luck for our brave soldier.” He joked, shrugging it off as if it was something he had done before. Was it something he had done before? Did Uma know about this? It then dawned on me the main reason Harry kissed Gil, and the main reason it worked so well.
“You know about his crush on you, don’t you?”
“Oh definitely, duckling. He makes it very obvious. Uma and I thought about letting him into the relationship at one point, but he’s just not into Uma like that. Why be with the both of us if you only have feelings for one, yeah?” I shrugged in response. It seemed so simple yet so complicated at the same time. It made sense, but yet so many questions popped into my mind.
“So, do the two of you have something going or are you just some lip service to each other?” Harry chuckled at the pun, not caring much whether or not it was intended. “Seriously. I’m sure Uma and I would like to know if you’re hooking up with someone that isn’t us.”
“He thinks of my kisses like little good luck charms. Nothing more. He told me so himself. Although, I would be lying if I told you I had never hooked up with him before. But it was long before Uma and I became an official item.” As I watched Gil carry an unconscious Ben over his shoulder and away from the entourage, I began my slow walk towards Mal’s home.
“You’ve got quite the body count, don’t you, Hooky?”
“What can I say, duckling? He’s very tender. Tender and gentle. I love taking the gentle ones and making them scream my name.” His luscious words tempted me, but we had a job to focus on. I would deal with my urges later.
“You better hope Uma doesn’t hear you saying that. The only name she wants screamed is hers.” Harry was about to spit out a response when we hear a soft, fair voice calling out Ben’s name. Harry and I were still relatively far back in the shadows. I stayed towards the back as Harry walked in front of me. His silhouette must have looked similar to the King’s because Evie still believed the shadow belonged to the royal Beast.
“Ben! Ben…don’t scare us like that.” With Evie’s words and sighs of relief from the boys around her, Harry and I emerged from the shadows and stood side by side, leaving them in shock.
“Don’t scare you? That’s my speciality.” Harry teased as I gave a conniving, quiet laugh from the side.
“Harry…” Evie whispered in disbelief. Did she really think that someone like Ben could walk through the Isle and have nothing happen to him? Whether we had a plan or not, there are plenty of people on the Isle who would hate Ben enough to snatch him. It just so happened to be us this time around.
“What did you do with Ben?” Jay asked, seeming tempted to take a step up towards us.
“Oh, uh, we nicked him.” Harry replied simply and nonchalantly, a small smile reminding him of our victorious mischief. I chuckled in response, remembering Gil’s smile as he walked past us with Ben passed out and draped over his shoulder.
“Like candy from a baby.” I taunted, peering into every pair of eyes I could find in front of me.
“And if you ever want to see him again, have Mal come to the Chip Shoppe tonight. Alone.” He glared as he let his finger roam to Evie, then Jay, then Carlos. “Uma wants a little visit.” He side eyed towards me, excited for what was in store for us.
“No weapons, either.”
“Weapons? Why would Mal need to worry about weapons?” Evie asked.
“Aw, Evie darling, seems like you’ve been in Auradon a bit too long, haven’t you?” Harry taunted, eyeing her up and down like a piece of meat.
“I saw Mal at Curl Up and Dye not too long ago. The blushing Queen to be had a knife in her back pocket. If she even tries to think about pulling something on Uma…” I let my fingers trace on the arch of Harry’s hook, wandering until they decided to grip the middle. “She’ll get hooked right where she stands.” I’m slightly taken aback as Carlos takes a confronting step in front of Jay and Evie, attempting to defend them.
“Why are you even a part of this? There’s no way you grew up on the Isle.” Carlos bit back aggressively. Given his small stature and some juicy bits of information I had learned about him from Harry, it was nearly impossible to take his defense seriously. I let an evil, mocking laugh roar from my chest as I looked over to Harry, pretending to be frightened.
“Well, well! Looks like Doggy Boy over here has got some brains after all. I had no idea someone so small could have so much bark in them, did you, Harry?” He tsked and shook his head as he eyed his old flame up and down.
“Oh, I know about his bark, duckling. But his biggest weakness is one..little..bite.” Harry lowered his voice to an alluring growl as he yipped directly to Carlos’ face. Jay immediately pushed his boyfriend behind him, ready to fight Harry by any means necessary. But, to his dismay, Evie held him back. “Aw, Jay...it seems like you’ve lost your touch. First you let your bike get snatched up, now it seems you can’t even keep your boyfriend from being stolen. It’s a good thing we’re not interested in him, ain’t it, Sofi?”
I chuckled as I eyed the flustered and angry kids in front of us. “Damn straight, it is. Seriously, Doggy Boy, you’re gonna go from someone like Harry..to someone like Jay? Talk about a major downgrade.” Evie continued to hold the two boys back behind her as she stepped forward and looked at me. There wasn’t any kind of glare or sneer. Quite frankly, she didn’t even look afraid. It seemed that all she wanted to do was take in the girl in front of her: me.
“Who are you? We saw you at Yzma’s egg stand. You could’ve killed Ben right then and there. Why didn’t you?” She asked, attempting to scare the truth out of me using interrogation. However, her skills weren’t that strong.
“Oh, Evie. That’s for me to know and for you to find out later. Ciao.” I gave a small wave as I locked my fingers into Harry’s hand and walked away from the entourage.

Please can I ask E, L, O and Z from the writer asks list.
Of course you can!  I’m always up for answering things :D
E. Have you ever written a crossover?
Yup!  I’ve written a handful of them actually, from my first and only bashing fic Vampire vs Shinobi (Twilight and Naruto - I have always hated Twilight) which ngl is only still up on my accounts because it’s something I’ve written and if I prune fics to only be the ones I’m currently proud of... many fics would not stay up very long.  My second-biggest fic, both in terms of wordcount and popularity, it also a crossover.  The Combat School was my twist on the super common 2012 trope “the exorcists from the manga D.Gray-Man take part in the Triwizard Tournament”, and was my first 100k word fic and I think still ranks highly if you look at Harry Potter/DGM crossovers on FFN by reviews/favourites/followers.  I think at one point it was as high as 4th but I doubt it’s that high any more.  Slightly sneaky is my TAG/Fight Rising crossover Stolen Shadows, because strictly speaking you could just call it a dragon!AU for TAG, but they’re based on the fandragons I’ve got for the Tracy boys+Thunderbirds on the site and FR does have its own category on AO3 and FFN.
I think those are my only published ones, but I do enjoy prodding at ‘what if these two ‘verses collided’ in my head so there are a few others floating around that’ll probably never be actually written, but they’re fun to play with.
L. What is your favourite fic idea that you don’t think you’ll ever write?
Oh boy, this one’s tough.  I usually try to write everything I think is worth anything, but some of them are just huge, so whether or not they’ll happen is another matter entirely.  Because I’m really bored I’ll talk about all the current ‘huge and too ambitious to probably ever finish’ ideas.  If they do end up one day happening, ah well, you heard them here first :P
Love Makes Fools (One Piece) - A retelling of the Wano Arc (most likely to be scrapped because the daydreaming I call planning happened long before the arc started so none of it is anything like how Oda’s actually shown) that’s actually a shipping fic, unusually for me.  Shachi saves Kid’s life and Kid falls in love with him, leaving Shachi to handle the Kid Pirates while the StrawHeart alliance are off doing their usual crazy shenanigans and winding Kaido up.
Fight Against the Tide (Boku no Hero Academia) - A retelling of the entire manga except it’s not Izuku that’s Quirkless, but Bakugo, and unlike Izuku, Bakugo is determined to make it on his own and turns down the offer of One for All (but still manipulates All Might into training him).  Lots of Bakugo and Mei chaos as she gives him the support gear he needs to keep up without a Quirk.
If They Never Were (One Piece) - A retelling of the entirety of One Piece (ahahah) except if Luffy never met Shanks and therefore a) never wanted to be a pirate and b) never ate the Gomu Gomu no Mi.  Follows Luffy’s adventures in the Marines, and explores what would have happened to the rest of the Straw Hats if they never met Luffy - or at least, never met pirate!Luffy.  I actually have a cast of OCs ready to go for this but this project is so ludicrously big I doubt it’ll ever be finished.
TAGxPJO thing - The Greek Gods foresaw the creation of IR and agreed with it, but there was one problem: the Tracy family are all suited to the sky, but most of the Earth is covered in water.  Cue Gordon Tracy, son of Lucille Tracy and... Poseidon!  The Tracys all know about demigods and gods and stuff but still consider Gordon their full brother, and to keep the monsters away from the powerful young demigod they ended up on the island where Poseidon could protect them (and a promise from Zeus that he won’t blast Thunderbirds out of the sky for having a son of Poseidon in them).  Chiron’s going crazy knowing there’s a demigod out there somewhere that he can’t find and train.
TAGxDCMK thing - Okay, so this one is probably my absolute favourite.  Scott sees something on a rescue that the Black Org didn’t want him to, so he got APTX’d, and TB1 got stolen.  Conan and Haibara take him in and hide him from the world (including his own family) and he joins the fight to take down the BO.  Meanwhile, the Tracys are going crazy looking for Scott.  In this AU no-one knows who IR really are, so Conan and co. don’t know Scott’s real name.  However, the Tracys are still a rich family so they’ve rubbed shoulders with the Kudos before and Scott’s met Shinichi as a kid and realises who he is.  At some point they end up going to Tracy Island?  idk, not sure where it would go after that.  And KID is involved because you can’t not involve KID.
O. Is there any fandom you’ve been into that you haven’t written fic for? Why not?
Many, usually because I’m just not inspired enough to actually write anything for them.  If they’ve got a really complex canon, or something I just can’t get my head into, I tend to not write, either.  Same with if there’s a character I can connect to enough.  Examples include Homestuck, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures (although I do have a vague wip for a Steel Ball Run fic, actually) and Miraculous Ladybug, but I’m sure there’s more if I think harder.
Z. Post an excerpt from either your first fic or your most recent one.
Oh hell, why don’t we do both so I can cringe and cry and what I used to be like vs what I’m like now.  Going with posted only (wips are a whole other kettle of fish).
First ever posted fic, from September 2009: Unwanted (Naruto).  The opening:
There was not a sound to be heard. For once, there was no breeze caressing the emerald leaves in the forest surrounding Konoha. Not a single bird sang; nothing stirred. The bright blue sky didn't contain one cloud - the sunshine was unbroken.
A raven haired teenager stood in the heart of the wood, gazing emotionlessly at the Village Hidden in the Leaves with cold, black eyes.
"It's changed," he murmured quietly. There was a rustle behind him and his three companions appeared.
"So there's your hometown, Sasuke," the silver haired shinobi said, violet eyes inspecting the village. "It's pretty busy." He was right - they could just about make out the general hubbub of village life. The dark haired adolescent said nothing.
"What's wrong, Sasuke-kun?" the only kunoichi in the team asked, putting one hand on Sasuke's chest where his shirt was open, and the other embracing him. He shrugged her off coldly.
"Quit flirting with Sasuke you cow, Karin," the silver haired ninja told the red head.
"I'm not a cow, Suigetsu you...you..." she spluttered, unable to think of a bad enough insult.
"Shut up you two," the final member of the team said quietly, his fiery eyes glinting in the sunlight. Karin and Suigetsu quickly stopped bickering. With much trepidation, Sasuke started to walk towards the gate. He hadn't eaten for days - starving himself, pushing himself further. His vision blurred slightly, but he carried on walking. It wasn't long, however, before everything went black and he fainted.
Most recent fic, from July 2020: Grounded (Thunderbirds).  The ending:
"Scott?" Virgil sounded worried, and he opened his eyes – when he had closed them? – to look up at his worried brother. Alan and Gordon hovered nearby, and he looked at them all in turn, even John's silent hologram – his ginger brother hadn't been there when the test had started, hadn't been expected after he pointed out their holotech's range didn't reach that far. "Are you okay?"
Was he okay? He had a broken rib, was recovering from a near-fatal spider bite and its side effects of dehydration, bradycardia and hypotension, and the man who had almost killed his brothers multiple times was standing the other end of the same balcony.
But they were one step, one significant step closer to Dad.
"Yeah," he said, staring out past them, at the platform cradling the most important engine International Rescue had ever created. For the first time since that horrid trash mine day five weeks earlier, he could honestly say, "I'm okay."
I’ll leave you guys to be the judge on whether or not I’ve improved at all.  I’d like to think I have.

Q: Why the Mad Max Fandom?
A: I was actually quite fixated on Fury Road after watching it on DVD. I didn’t expect to particularly like it - I’d never seen the previous Mad Max movies (I finally have!) - but I was transfixed. And I didn’t particularly ship Furiosa and Max until the haemothorax/transfusion scene (although then I very much did). There were just so many layers of detail and backstory there waiting to be explored, because so little was actually said or explained. It’s like a neutron star of fic-fodder. And I didn’t discover ao3 til summer 2016 so I spent a full year wandering around like a lost soul. So, yeah. Quite a huge deal for me really.
Q: What do you think are some defining aspects of your work? Do you have a style? Recurrent themes?
A: Music. Minor characters looking on and commenting on the protagonists (big fan of Thomas Hardy’s more comedic efforts, where this happens a lot). Reasonably happy endings.
Q: Which of your works was the most fun to create? The most difficult? Which is your most popular? Most successful? Your favourite overall?
A: Maybe the small town modern AU (Ordinary People), because it was a nice change from the Wasteland setting. I’m not very Wasteland-minded at all. But the Bladerunner AU (Do Androids Dream etc) and the new Firefly AU are lots of fun because the two sets of movie worlds mesh together way better than I’d expected.
The most difficult? - My Wasteland headcanon stuff. It’s too fluffy and not remotely violent which doesn’t really ring true. I’m very aware that my Furiosa is hardly ever violent, or my Max particularly mad. But that’s the great thing about fanfiction - the infinite versions of characters and scenarios. Surprisingly the Blues Brothers AU is quite tricky. I can’t quite make Jake Blues and Furiosa the same person. But it’s an excuse to listen to great tunes. And Jessie will make a comeback in that one though (she’s not dead, I should make that clear).
On the old kudos-to-hits ratio, the Firefly AU is taking off surprisingly well, but it’s quite smut-focused so that might well account for it ;) early days yet. Bladerunner AU is doing well for a multi-chapter. Up Around The Bend (an oldie, the escape from the Citadel) is hanging in there.
Most successful? I’m happy enough with all of them, except maybe I Kissed A Girl. Please don’t read that. Favourite overall - It’s a toss-up between Ordinary People (a chance to explore my headcanon in a modern small town setting) and the Bladerunner AU (it makes me weep).
Q: How do you like your wasteland? Gritty? Hopeful? Campy? Soft? Why?
A: Hopeful and silly and everyone has access to a record player somehow. This is why I stick to writing AUs these days. But I’ll happily read all of the above!!! And entirely intend to!
Q: Walk us through your creative process from idea to finished product. What's your prefered environment for creating? How do you get through rough patches?
A: Watch a film, browse tumblr, listen to music, get an idea. Have a good think about it, think about it some more, find a starting point, write it down, go from there. Maybe stick a draft on tumblr if I’m not sure if it’s going to fly. Write it anyway.
For OCs, figure out what someone looks like. That’s weirdly essential for me. Zal (Furiosa’s Dad) is Ed Harris, Young Val (Furiosa and Max’s grownup daughter) is Alicia Vikander and Toots (rescued-kid-turned-Wasteland-son-in-law) is Didier Drogba (bit of a blast from the past but hey). I was getting nowhere with Blues Mothers Jessie until I recast her as Sofia Boutella (because if Max is getting a generational update, she needs one too). And Firefly AU’s Mister Jobassa is Jakob Oftebro. All very pretty people, but what are you gonna do? But they’re only these people in MY head - they can be whoever the reader wants them to be. Oh, and Pin from Ordinary People was 100% an actual real tour guide I met on holiday once.
Preferred environment? Usually while half asleep in bed, or walking, or In the gym, or watching tv - world building seems to be something that happens away from the keyboard. Writing itself is exclusively on my phone so can and does happen anywhere at all. Rough patches are usually caused by guilt that I’m not spending enough time on the day job :P
Q: What (if any) music do you listen to for help getting those creative juices flowing?
A: I listen to music all the time anyway, mainly upbeat pre-90s tunes. Disco, funk, ska, motown, anything like that. And it always find its way into the writing. Sometimes artificially (where I’m on a song-lyrics-as-title theme - it took ages for some of the Wasteland fics) but most times it can help shape the story in a BIG way. I can’t listen to certain songs now without reliving a chapter or a whole fic - Dionne Warwick’s Do You Know The Way To San José is Bladerunner!Furiosa’s Green Place song, and Ash’s Angel Interceptor is StarTrek!Max’s flying music - it’s noisy enough but also speaks to me about a longing to not be alone in the universe. Concrete and Clay is smalltown!Max’s bittersweet lament for Jessie and Twistin’ The Night Away is the final party scene in Cheedo’s update of The Rivals. Some fics wouldn’t have been written at all if it wasn’t for a particular song. The Black Keys’ Heavy Soul was my original Wasteland Furiosa/Max ship theme back in 2015, before I’d even heard of ao3 - that’s the closest I’ve come to a song fic. Caleb was only Caleb because of a line in Symarip’s Skinhead Moonstomp, and I was so desperate to write a fic with Leo Sayer’s You Make Me Feel Like Dancing In it that it was the final excuse for a whole modern mirrorverse to my Wasteland headcanon series. Bet you’re sorry you asked now. But I’ll have to go and put together a Kirkyverse OST list.
Q: What is your biggest challenge as a creator?
A: To put the damn thing down and walk away. To not assume it’s awful if I don’t get a kudos in the first thirty hits. Thumb cramp from phone-typing.
Q: How have you grown as a creator through your participation in the Mad Max Fandom? How has your work changed? Have you learned anything about yourself?
A: I didn’t write at all before the Mad Max fandom. Apart from a ghost story when I was about seven (it did win a prize tbh) and a truly god awful Stephen King rip-off when I was fourteen (which makes me nauseous from embarrassment when I think of it). So a fair bit, it’d probably be fair to say. It would be impossible not to, you know, from zero :) My work has changed from spinoffs of inspirational fics (thanks Squid!) to ‘well, I suppose I’ve got a head canon, let’s see if I can make this work’ to ‘goddammit I’ll finish this if it kills me’. Then I missed my exit on the Roundabout of Fic Endings and had to go round again in a modern AU mirror verse. Now it’s all movie mashups, which is lots of fun and probably never-ending. During which time I have learned that crossovers are my favourite to write. And that writing fanfic is probably not a temporary fad :)
Q: Which character do you relate to the most, and how does that affect your approach to that character? Is someone else your favourite to portray? How has your understanding of these characters grown through portraying them?
A: I don’t really have a favourite tbh. They’re all their own people and do their own thing. Writing them is very dependent on their environment, and it’s often surprising how they behave and where they end up. It feels a bit like they’re on Whose Line Is It Anyway?
Q: Do you ever self-insert, even accidentally?
A: Hah yes. The first one was Zephyr the annoying visitor in Witches and Ogres. Young Val’s social awkwardness in As was very much on loan from me.
Q: Do you have any favourite relationships to portray? What interests you about them?Furiosa and Max are pretty much always there - sometimes it’s probably platonic, and sometimes there’s a third person involved (nothing posted yet but but but). It depends on the fic.
Q: Do you prefer to create in one defined chronology or do your works stand alone? Why or why not?
A: One big long chronology for the headcanon series (childhood to old age), then a whole bunch of little universes for everything else.
Q: To break or not to break canon? Why?
A: Not to break, as much as I can. But it depends.
Q: Share some headcanons.
A: Furiosa was never actually a wife - she was captured but dodged the whole Vault experience. Max is the original Max, of Jessie and Sprog fame. Toecutter was Joe’s younger self - he scooted around on motorbikes and raised hell before deciding to settle down and take the Citadel. AU Toast and Dag are twins (from a shady mob family). Furiosa’s Dad is a friendly Wasteland bandit.
Q: If you work with OCs walk us through your process for creating them. Who are some of your favourites?
A: They’re supplementary characters who make the plots fit together, and sources of conflict or humour (usually both). I think I like Ordinary People’s Alexa and Mallory best. Although the Irish War Boy crew in Beyond the Pale were fun to write. Ace’s trio of love interests (Brick, Big Dave and Caleb/Pin) are a consistent theme. Sometimes I steal characters from other sources (stand up Christopher Brookmyre) when it’s convenient.
Q: What sparks your many wonderful AUs?
A: Movies, tv, gifs, tumblr prompts and general chitchat (thankyou btw!!!)
Q: A lot of your fics are light-hearted and hopeful, which is great to see for the apocalyptic Mad Max world. Your thoughts on that? What is it about the characters that inspires you to reframe them?
A: I just really like comedy and am committed to winkling it into every fictional scenario whether it’s appropriate or not. Glad people don’t hate it!
Q: Who are some works by other creators inside and outside of the fandom that have influenced your work?
A: Well, it was Squid’s ( @sacrificethemtothesquid )Length and Breadth of Fury Road that got me out of the starting blocks! Christopher Brookmyre’s The Sacred Art of Stealing was a big influence on my headcanon series, as was a particular Coronation Street storyline from some years back :)
Q: Tell us about a current WIP or planned project.
A: Blues Brothers AU series (Sweet Home Chicago) -Wasteland Star Trek First Contact AU (Angel Interceptor) -Firefly AU (Our Mister Jobassa) -His Dark Materials AU (unnamed as yet, just brewing in my head, hope it just stays there for the meantime) -Will combine all the headcanon works into one long fic sometime. That’s everything from Witches and Ogres through to Ordinary People. Probably be called ‘All the Things that I’ve Done’ (basically the two lives of Furiosa: Wasteland and mirrorverse).
Thank you @kirkypet

Fanfiction Ask: #10, #20, #22, #25, #32, #38, #40, #44, #47, #48.
10. Is there a fandom you read fic from but don’t writein?
Oh, for sure! There are plenty. Carmilla, Overwatch, The100, Wynnona Earp, and others but my brain isn’t pulling them up. I’ve read Legendof Korra for years but only just started writing in it.
20. Any ships which you surprised yourself by liking?
Definitely Kuvira and Opal. I don’t know why I like thosetwo so much together, but goddamn do I. I’m also still a fan of Widow Maker& Tracer (overwatch) fanfics, despite the Overwatch fiction giving Tracer acanonical girlfriend.
22. Is there anything you regret writing?
Yes, but I learned a really good lesson from it. It was a HarryPotter thing I wrote back in early high school and gave it a really bad nameand set the whole thing on a bad premise (and no I won’t go into more detailthan that. I was a shithead kid who was going through a lot mentally in highschool and tried to fix my problems through writing and it often backfired onme). The internet attacked me over it – like, hundreds of people on Fanfiction.netwrote flaming reviews when none of my work had more than a dozen or so commentson it until then. I took it down pretty quickly and subsequently stoppedwriting fanfiction for a long time (like, stopped until I started writingCracks in the Foundation in 2015 – so about an 8 year hiatus). At the time I didn’tsee what I’d done wrong but later in high school it clicked why people had hadthe visceral reaction that they did. I still think about that experience a lot.It shaped me to be better and try harder to give better stories that weren’tfocused on pretty horrendous things.
25. What’s your most popular fanfic?
Currently, by a landslide, my Korrasami fanfiction, Strangersin the Night is my most popular work. As of 6/6/2019, it has 504 kudos on AO3.
32. Do you listen to music when you write or does musicinspire you? If so, which band or genre of music does it for you?
I do listen to music while I write and sometimes musicinspires scenes. When I’m working on something like my Mass Effect or DragonAge story, I listen to the actual game soundtrack. If I’m working on a scene ina specific section of the game, I’ll play the music for that section on repeat. ForAU work that I do (Korrasami that I have published and have in the works), I’lllisten to either music of the period I’m doing the AU for (like, a jazzplaylist for my 1920’s AU that I haven’t published yet) or I’ll listen tostraight piano or cello music.
There have been a few times where I’ve been listening to bassintensive EDM or House music while driving and think up some pretty coolscenes. Another Korrasami AU that I’ve outlined but haven’t written yet wasactually inspired by a thought I had based around the feeling of subwoofer bassvibrating the cloth of your shirt while dancing on a dance floor. That single thoughtexperiment turned into a giant long-fic that I’ll start working on eventually  but is currently outlined from beginning to end. (I outlined it 4 years ago nowbut just haven’t sat down to work on it. The outline itself is over 75k words. -_-)
38. Do you use established canon characters or do youcreate OCs?
In my current work, I strictly stick on established canoncharacters. If I have an OC, I save them for my original works.
40. What do you struggle the most with in your writing?
Aside from the woes of editing and being dyslexic? I’d saytwo things:
Tension – I don’t know if I’ve ever saidthis here, but I have a bachelor’s degree in writing. Once I was told by acollege professor that my stories lacked tension. So now I work really hard tomake sure the tension is there and palpable. That’s why editing takes me awhile sometimes.
Getting too wordy or getting caught up in thephysicality of a scene. I also have a background in theatre and was used tohaving little movements mean big things on stage and always try to translatethat to my writing. Often times when I reread scenes after I’ve had somedistance from them, it just feels like too much focus was giving to what movedwhere and not emotions or the five senses. So it’s another thing I look at whenI edit now.
44. What ship do you feel needs more attention?
KREM & LADY INQUISITOR!!!
47. Archive Of Our Own, Fanfiction.net or Tumblr - wheredo you prefer to post and why?
AO3 is my main squeeze. The community over there is amazing(in my experience). FF.net feels like its fizzling out and that’s also theplace that I get the most bizarre or trolly comments. I still post there, becausethat’s where I originally gained my readership for Cracks in the Foundation, but I barely interact with it aside from posting.
48. Do you leave reviews when you read fanfiction?Why/Why not?
I try super hard to leave a review on everything I readbecause I know how happy it makes me when I get a review on my work. Kudos arenice and always make me smile, but a review – hearing what scene really touchedsomeone or what they enjoyed the most always gives me warm fuzzies. So, I wantother writers to have that feeling, too.

✮ ━ top three favorite muses that you’ve played
dorcas is one of my favs lmao but her aside…. uhhh…  honestly i’m someone who generally creates a character for LIFE ( i’ve been writing some characters for nearly a decade now ) so… this isn’t easy. i’ll say  neal brar (oc), kitsey greyson (oc, i never get to write her and it’s such a shame), and valentina salgado (oc) ok fuck also tiberius ogden (oc) and malena bedford (oc) i can’t leave either of them out.
✄ ━ do you have any artistic abilities? If so, what can you do?
[here]
ღ ━ favorite canon ships for your muse(s). are there any you dislike?
dorcas with any of the marauders like………………………. no thanks. never, thanks. ( MAYBE with james or peter in some au, but it’s a pretty massive maybe ). or like ships with death eaters that are completely random and have zero solid/logical foundations.
otherwise, i’m super open with ships. i’m primarily plot based, even with my ships to be honest. i’ve been in situations where dorcas had chemistry with another character  but the plots me and the other player came up, ship-wise, just didn’t speak to me at all so even though we were supposed to “ship” because our characters had chemistry or w/e, i wasn’t really up for it.
i’ve had some nice ships with ocs from historical verses, modern royalty, and x-men verses.
in the harry potter universe, i’ve had ships with a bunch of ocs and minor canons. think it, i’ve probably done it. i’ve had ships with muggle characters, death eaters (members or leaning), order members, journalists, diplomats, hit wizards, inventors, celebrities, etc.
all of these are old as shit and i haven’t talked to my partners in ages but thus far my most well plotted out + favourite ships/ship plots have been with:
gideon prewett - it was a friends turned lovers ship, but it was very complicated as it developed over the course of a solid 5 years and with the war gideon developed a drinking problem and there were many other mini sub-plots… it was… great, but MY kind of great with lots of character development and slow burn and it ended with them going “ok we can figure this out we’ll make a proper effort” and then gideon died like a week later lmao. ( we had a star wars au for this too )
evan rosier - met at school. they were just kids. he stopped talking to her when he was 12 because he found out she was a halfblood and she absolutely didn’t put up with his nonsense. two years later they had the chance to talk about it… and they were unable to stop talking since then, behind doors that is. they always had a very peculiar dynamic, meeting in the middle in certain aspects, being ruled by their education and backgrounds in others, and above all showing each other two very different perspectives of what would become a war ( and, in their own ways, they used the knowledge they got from each other as a sort of leverage later on - knowledge is power, so it goes ). after graduation they grew apart, then close again, then he tried to pull some really stupid things after he got married and their dynamic deteriorated considerably after that and as the war progressed. there was always going to be something there even if only given to how much they shared with each other, but i was very open about dorcas not having romantic feelings for him anymore ( and gd knows having them in the first place was an identity crisis as it was ) but my partner at the time told me he would continue to have feelings for her which made the whole dynamic even more interesting. there was always tension, and angst, and power dynamics and one time they did exchange war related information once ( they never said where their affiliations lied, but they didn’t need to at that point, to either of them it was blatantly clear ) but it was on a very particular case concerning the murder of a diplomat where both the order and the death eaters were being blamed when neither side had been involved.
an oc auror  AND I APOLOGIZE BUT YOU’LL ALL HAVE TO PUT UP WITH ME WITH THIS ONE BC IT WAS ONE OF MY FAV DYNAMICS AND I LOVE AND MISS IT DEARLY. they met while she was still studying to be a healer, he asked her out she said yes but then life happened and they never did get to go on that date. fast-forward a year she’s working at the ministry as a secretary like five desks away from him, huffing at aurors and hit wizards for not filling their reports correctly and no she’s not going to bloody write them for you. he was awkward and self-conscious about it but there were no hard feelings about the failed date (dorcas had literally just joined the order so she had a lot on her plate anyway). very gradually they got talking, hooked up, it turned into a “oh no don’t worry about it it was nothing serious we were just blowing off some steam” which turned into “oh crap im falling in love” and eventually they started dating and it was the most wonderful thing in the world… and then like 6 months into it dorcas broke up with him because it was, like, early 1979 and every time they got together he ended up talking poorly of the order ( they broke up when, one day, he was trashing the order after, unbeknownst to him, the order had saved his ass and his partner’s ass and dorcas was just sitting there with the damn take out he had brought thinking “i really did this to myself huh fuck my entire life i have to end this”. they ended things abruptly and still very much in love. ) fast-forward some months he ends up reaching out to her somewhat awkwardly because he doesn’t know who to talk to ( he was a person of strong convictions but very private and he had grown very used to being able/feeling comfortable talking to her ). what did he want to get off his chest? that he had just discovered he had child. some 3 year old girl. the mother kept him in the dark about their daughter ( her reasons were that she didn’t think he was ever going to make a good father due to how much of a workaholic he was ) and he stumbled on the information. he ended up admitting to dorcas he desperately wanted to have a relationship with the child but didn’t know how to and long story short they started dating again, so painfully gradually and casually. dorcas wasn’t always present when he was with his daughter, but she was far from a stranger to the little girl. however, by mid 1980 the war was at its peak and dorcas was leading like 4 parallel lives and going to too many funerals - she was running on fumes and she did have an emotional breakdown once in front of him one time but it was after his daughter caught dragon pox and he assumed she was just overwhelmed and being sensitive ( he was so thrown off that while he was anxious himself he even went as far as cracking a joke about how she was the one who usually kept it together ). in early 1981 he started seeing his daughter more regularly, there was an unofficially joint custody thing going, and he wanted to take their relationship to the next level. not marriage by any means just, something more tangible and sure and clear, primarily because he didn’t want to have someone in his daughter’s life who would just not be in it for the long run. so they sat down and he told her everything that was going on inside his head, he said that it wasn’t that he didn’t trust her to be around he just needed to have the conversation with her… and dorcas was sitting there thinking “yes, this is something i want, this doesn’t scare me, this makes me happy, i love this person and i love that little girl like she was mine and i want to grow to love her and her father even more.” so she said she didn’t. she said she wasn’t interested; that he had read her wrong. she thought of the two broken ribs she had some weeks prior and how edgar and his wife and their children were six feet under. they parted away, never spoke again, and she was murdered like 5 months later in july/august. i shared ideas and hcs, but, as an active contributing writer, the story ended here for me. however, the way my former roleplay partner wrote what happened after dorcas’ death goes like this:years later, he ended up marrying the mother of his child ( they were able to reconnect in a healthy way because of how much character development he experienced while dating dorcas ). they had two other children.  around twenty years later, the dust of the second war settling and previously private information about both wars was gradually becoming public. one morning his eldest daughter was reading the newspaper and she casually asked mom and dad, sitting at the table with her, if they knew anyone who fought in the first war. they both mentioned a handful of hit wizards and aurors, and that was that - she closed the newspaper dismissively and left to meet with friends. it was summer. i can’t remember if it was later that day or the day after, but he asked her what had prompted her to ask such question and she said there was a face in the newspaper that seemed familiar. he asked her the name of the person, she couldn’t remember only that it was “funny but familiar”, and as she went to get the newspaper she continued that that neither he nor mom had said it. he got his glasses, she opened the newspaper for him in the multi-page article about new information from the first war and pointed at one of the several small moving photographs - the penny dropped as he recognized the face right away.a lot of things made sense after he found out dorcas was a member of the order, it was, in a way a relief for him to discover it because it filled in a lot of blanks ( and it made him feel better in the sense that no, he hadn’t been the problem in their relationship )… but on the other hand it was also highly bittersweet and conflicting, and he had more questions and about a thousand new feelings and emotions to process. the worst part was she had been dead for two decades so it wasn’t as thought he could talk to her about it. i think that ( i can’t remember ) at some point, in anger and frustration, he thought that she should have told him, and then he remembered what he was like and what his views of the order were and he was forced to admit to himself that if she had said anything to him, if she had trusted him with that information, his self from twenty years ago would have been highly judgmental and ended things immediately ( we had an au where this happened and it was the most horrible thing - it was right after an attack and they hadn’t even showered yet and dusted themselves off and he just told her to leave, didn’t even look her in the eye ). eventually he came to terms with her decisions and understood why she had made them and was able to tell his eldest daughter why the women in the photo looked familiar.
i don’t think i’ve had a single ship for dorcas, in any universe, where she ends up happy lmao bottoms up i don’t know how to write happy endings (unless it’s in aus) cheers.
♫ ━ a small playlist
ok so im really really really realllly bad at playlists and i’ve already done one for dorcas here and i don’t want to make another lmao so can i make two mini ones for two of your characters instead?

Get to know the writer tag
Rules: Answer 11 questions, ask 11 questions, tag 11 people
Thank you soo much @souliloquyyy for the tag!!! And I’m so sorry this is like several weks late. I’ve already done this one a few times but it’s always exciting being tagged, especially because the questions are always new :)
1) Favorite background character you’ve ever written?
Oof, I don’t know how to answer this just because my writing partner McHaggis and I have the terrible habit of creating a character specifically for background character purposes... Then we end up falling in love with them and making them a more major character.
Currently loving Hannah in Morsmordre since she literally has no purpose besides being another person in class with a hopeless, unrequited crush on one of the main characters... I am determined to keep her as just that — nothing more. I will not get attached.
2) Who or what is your inspiration?
@decantae and @autofoebia are my most immediate sources of inspiration I think, because they’re both fantastic writers and I’m in love with everything they do. and i want to impress them dammit I literally wouldn’t be writing if it wasn’t for them — no one can get me as excited for writing like they can.
I also find a lot of inspiration in music and other stories! If I’m really stuck on not having any ideas, listening to music or watching a movie or something can really give me an idea or just an itching to write.
3) Favorite book?
Despite my love-hate relationship with Harry Potter, there’s no denying that it had a massive impact on my life. I also really love Pride and Prejudice. Working my way through Crazy Rich Asians right now!
I desperately need to read more books, I’m not going to lie you guys.
4) If you could meet any author and take writing advice from them, who would it be?
Mary Shelley for sure.
5) At what age did you start writing?
I think at around six years old? I remember opening up word processor to write out a crappy fantasy scene.
6) Are you better at writing action or dialogue?
Dialogue 100%. It’s the only thing I’m actually proud of with my writing and action... Action is hard.
7) What’s one writing tip you’d like to share with whoever’s reading this post?
Looking back on your old writing and cringing doesn’t make you a bad writer, it means that you’ve improved.
8) Planner or Pantser? Underwriter or overwriter?
I’m a plantser! Which basically means that when I have an idea, I just have a bunch of headcanons that I want to write instead of a real plan.  Post-Script was the first time I’ve ever written something without some sort of plan which was slightly terrifying but super fun!
And I am an overwriter by far. I used to be an underwriter where I could barely reach 200 words to write a scene. And now it takes me a minimum of 1500 words to get to a point, and I don’t know how to write concisely???
9) How did you get the idea for your current WIP?
I got the idea for Tempest based off of a character backstory I made but never finished for a fantasy setting. I decided that I like the backstory better than the actual character, and decided to try my hand out at writing a myth!
Also someone ask me about how McHaggis and I came up with the idea for Morsmordre, I think it deserves its own post.
10) Do you prefer to write in first person or third person? Ever written in second person?
I prefer third person! I used to only be able to write in first person back in like middle school, but now I can only write in third person. I like it because it’s not as limited as first! However, I think my habit of writing internal monologues stems from my origins as a first person POV writer...
And yes I actually have written in second person. I used to write a bunch of stuff on Quizilla for like... fandom things. That involved a lot of reader x fandom character writing, which was a lot of second person.
It’s a shame that Quizilla is gone but also thank god my writing is gone along with it.
11) Which two characters from two different stories would you pair together as love interests?
oh my gosh i have no idea, i’m really attached to my own ships... And honestly I’m not a huge shipper in general. I don’t know if I would want them to be romantically involved... But I am dying to see Charles Boyle from Brooklyn 99 and Dwight Schrute from the Office to interact.
Here’s my 11 questions!
1) If you could meet only one of your OCs, who would you meet?
2) What’s your go-to snack?
3) Are you hoping to get published someday?
4) What’s your favorite genre to read or write? What’s your least favorite?
5) What was your favorite book as a kid?
6) Describe your writing style!
7) What’s your favorite weather?
8) What’s your proudest achievement in writing?
9) Do you prefer angst or fluff?
10) If you had to get a famous person to record the audiobook of your story, who would you choose?
11) Do you have a character archetype you write a lot?
Tagging @yourwritersblock @knightsofeclipse @haline-penthorn @toboldlywrite @a-place-of-babble @margaretcroftwrites @seamusings @lilmissravingwriter @maendoir @theprettypoems @aidenjaxwrites and anyone else who wants to answer these! Feel free to do this or ignore :)

AO3 filter meme
tagged by @gilrael - ty! this one looks so cool! :D
Rules: Go to your works page, expand all the filters, and answer the following questions!
1. What’s your first and second most common work ratings?
General Audiences (270) and Teen And Up Audiences (154)
2. What’s your most common archive warning? Least common? Do you consider yourself an adventurous writer?
Most common: No Archive Warnings Apply (432)
Least Common: Graphic Depictions of Violence (1)
I’m kind of an adventurous writer? Years ago, before I got a tumblr, I actually did HP Ship Weeks (and my lil’ sis posted links to them on her tumblr for me XD), and I was determined to cover the few genres on FFN I had yet to write. Off the top of my head, I don’t recall if I did all of the remaining (which I think you could count on 1 hand, *lol*), but I did write a Western and by gods I am still happy I wrote it. XD Regarding that least common warning, I honestly thought it was for one of my HariPo fics, and it wasn’t (yet, since I’m cross-posting edited works to AO3); it was for a Steincraft fic, “Halcyon.”
3. How many fics have you written in each relationship category? Is this more accidental, or do you have preferences?
F/M (206)
M/M (176)
Gen (47)
F/F (40)
Multi (4)
Other (3)
When I write a ship, it’s always been more about the characters and how they work together as personalities to me; gender plays second fiddle to that, and I try not to make it an issue in most of my LGBT+ fics. I do know that there are so many F/M fics because of my HariPo works, and that the majority of the M/M works are in my sports anime fandoms, though.
4. What are your top 4 fandoms by numbers? Are you still active in any of them, and do you tend to migrate a lot?
Harry Potter (309)
Haikyuu!! (89)
Kuroko no Basuke (20)
Free! (20)
Fic-wise, in terms of creating new stuff (not just cross-posting edited versions), I’m most active in Haikyuu!! I still have ideas I want to write for Free! and KnB, but I think I’d rather draw for those fandoms more right now. As for HariPo, I seriously need to get back into writing for it because I’ve actually been working on new ideas lately. :3
5. What are your top 4 character tags? Does this match how you feel about the characters, or are you puzzled?
Original Characters (29)
Remus Lupin (26)
Victoire Weasley (20)
Lily Luna Potter (18)
Wow! :O OCs top my list??? Huh. I mean, stopping to think about it, it makes sense, since I have OCs in HQ!! for when I write Ennoshita’s class as 3rd yrs or when I’ve written 3rd-yr Kunimi. And in HariPo it makes sense because of friends I’ve created for the next-gen kids, or OCs I’ve written who belong to my friends. As for Remus, Victoire, and Lilu--hell yeah! Because of my love of Wolfstar/Remmius and Jamus; Vicnev; and Lilted, Remlilu, and Roxlilu. :D
Bonus, the top 4 relationships I have tagged
Remus Lupin/James Potter (10)
Ennoshita Chikara/Tanaka Ryuunosuke (10)
Hanamaki Takahiro/Yahaba Shigeru (10)
Neville Longbottom/Victoire Weasley (10)
I knew I wrote a lot of Jamus, but wow. XD Ennotana, Hanayaha, and Vicnev don’t surprise, tho; plus I know I’ve even more Vicnev. :3c
6. What are your top 2 most used additional tags, and your bottom 2? What would happen if you combined all 4 of these into a fic?
Top Two: Angst (172), Free Verse (133)
Bottom Two: Pre-Relationship (23), Cameos (20)
It would be a fairly typical free-verse poem, altho I question the need for cameos from other charries in what usually is a short piece. Combining Angst with Pre-Relationship, tho, and I already have 7 fics.
7. How many WIPs do you have currently running on AO3? Any you don’t plan on finishing?
In terms of individual fics? I’m only working on cross-posting the edited version of 45 Ways to Make a Werewolf Fall for You right now. In terms of series? There are 10 “incomplete” ones, tho some are more like fic collections I’ll come back to from time to time--with the exception of BoaF (both series and fic itself), which I know will someday be complete.
8. Tag people!
Since this was p cool, I’mma tag... @karasunovolleygays @crollalanzaa @museicaliteacup @ebumimasaru @ezzydean @tanaenno if any of ya want!

Tumblr media
Today it’s @floranocturna turn with being interviewed! I would like to thank you for sharing with all of us! - Mirky.
General Questions: Username(s) we can find you under: Floranocturna and The Real Floranocturna (FanFiction.Net)
What Media do you create? Fanfictions, sometimes image edits
Are you self-taught or did you go to art school? I have a Masters degree in Literature (and History) and writing is indeed my job, but writing fanfiction and fantasy stories is my passion.
Which artists have influenced your style? Mainly Tolkien and Rowling, but there are numerous others along the way, which have shaped my style into what it is now.
Which are your favourite artists? Fragonard and Boucher (yes I love French rococo) and in the fandom my favorite artists are Kinko-White and Bohemianweasel.
Where can we find your work? AO3, Wattpad, tumblr, FanFiction.net, Quotev, DeviantArt and Inkitt.
What would you say you are best known for in the fandom? My writing
Do you have a favorite pairing? *ahem* I ship Thranduil with me of course XD
Do you have a favorite creation of yours you are especially proud of? My ongoing Thranduil story *The Secret of the Forest*, which I have recently rewritten into a Thranduil/OC story (it used to be a reader insert before). I have been working on this since 2016 and this story is very close to my heart.
Do you have a favourite fictional character, besides Thranduil of course? Severus Snape, because I really love how his character is neither good nor evil and the astounding amount of depth Rowling gave him.
What other fandoms are you part of? Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Avatar
Do you do commissions? Nope, sorry, no spare time left.
Any advice/words for others in the fandom?
First: Be kind and respectful and always remember that we are in this fandom to share our love for Thranduil and not to fight over him.
Second: Do not steal other people’s hard work. This is something I had to experience myself and it is NOT nice! Create your own works and if you cannot do that then support the artists by sharing their work and encouraging them with likes and comments.
Third: If you are a writer getting started I would like you to remember that only practice makes perfect. Keep writing, keep searching for that voice of yours and keep reading! Read books, read stories and then read even more! And then sit down and write again, let the words flow and don’t think about what others will think of it. Write for yourself and only when you feel comfortable with it, then put it out there for others to see. Don’t take criticism personally, but try to see it as a possibility to grow as an author.
Personal Questions:
If you could name a song (or two or three) that would describe you or your life, what would it be? ‘Unknown Legend’ by Neil Young, ‘Lost Direction’ by Beecake, ‘Resolve’ by Sleeping At Last
Favorite color? Green
Favorite Book? Since I cannot choose only one here go my top choices: ’The Silmarillion’, ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and ‘The Hobbit’ by Tolkien, Harry Potter 1-7 by Rowling, ‘Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell’ by Susanna Clarke.
Favorite movie? ‘The Fall’, because of its absolutely stunning cinematography, magical storytelling and of course Lee Pace and the adorable Cantinca Untaru.
Do you have a pet peeve? Ignorance and rudeness.
What country are you from? Austria, that place where the hills are apparently alive with the sound of music ;)
Who do you think you might have been in a past life? I have no idea, but hopefully someone remotely cool.
What do you like to do in your spare time other than create the media you work on? Photography, cosplay, reading and I enjoy taking walks alone or with my dogs while listening to music and thinking about new plot twists for my stories (yeah I can never really turn off the writing)
When did you join the fandom? I have been in the Tolkien fandom for a while (since the LOTR movies) and I have been a fan of Lee Pace already before The Hobbit movies (because of ‘the Fall’), but I started being more active around 2014/15.
TheMirkyKing’s Questions:
What is the hardest part of writing for you?
This is a difficult question, because many parts can be hard depending on my inspiration or the lack of it. The easiest part is usually the dialogue, because I just listen to what my protagonists say in my head and write it down. What’s hard is to keep track where everyone is standing, walking, moving around. Sometimes I think that my characters take on a life of their own and keep walking around and then I don’t know what are they doing. Sounds crazy, but it does happen! And actually sticking to my decisions regarding the plot is hard for me too, because I keep constantly having new ideas.
How do you fell about the upcoming series based off Middle-earth?
I do have mixed feelings about this. On one hand more Middle-earth is always a good thing and maybe a fresh take on Tolkien’s writings might bring a whole lot of characters and events to life on screen. But, and yes there is always a but, I honestly hope that the producers will not try to drag Middle-earth to Westeros, wanting to have a share in the success of Game of Thrones. Tolkien is not Martin and as much as I like Game of Thrones — hey, why do we have to wait until 2019 for that final season? —, I do not think that trying to imitate something that is successful in its own way is the path for this new Middle-earth series. Finding a new voice maybe even away from what Peter Jackson has set as standard might be a more logical and creative way to go.
If you could travel to Middle-earth, where would you want to call home?
This is an easy answer: Mirkwood of course. I would love to see Thranduil’s kingdom, especially after the War of the Ring, when the darkness has been destroyed and the forest has been renamed *Eryn Lasgalen*, the Wood of Greenleaves. I want to see the beauty of this primeval forest restored, the sunlit canopies of green and gold, the peaceful glades, flowers and trees growing in a new spring. Maybe even catch a glimpse of Thranduil’s new elk, which I am sure he will have. I’ve written about these woods so many times in my story that I somehow feel at home there although I’ve never even been there. Well, my heart is there and that is enough for me.
Follower Questions:
From @moonofmorrigan - How did you conceive the idea for your story, The Secret of the Forest?
This story started out quite simple because of my love for Thranduil, but it has grown into a much more complex project. I first had the idea of a romance, a love story with many obstacles involving an elf and a human. Over the course of 1,5 years many more layers have been added to it. I really love exploring Thranduil’s past, finding a credible backstory for his wife’s death and the many hardships he has suffered in his long lifetime, but I also have discovered that I enjoy playing around with my own characters, like the brothers Amardir and Faeldir. And the best part is that the readers like them too! This story is not just a fanfic about a beautiful Elvenking, but it is a story about love and loss, grief and sacrifice and the search for absolution. There are some universal truths to be found in this tale showing us that elves and humans might not be so different from each other after all.
From @moonofmorrigan - What things inspire you to continue writing it, and your original story about the dark elf?
Thranduil is the one thing that continues to inspire me every day to keep writing this story. But also all the readers and their comments, kudos, likes and votes keep me going. I am still overwhelmed by all the support I have gotten and the nice people I have met along the way in this fandom! My original story *The Enchanted Spring* about the dark elf Andor is my new ‘baby’ and I have a complete plot laid out already. It is quite different from my Thranduil story, although it does feature another beautiful elf. It is much darker and closer to folk tales and folklore. What I love about it is that this is all my own creation, no boundaries, no given facts. I can do whatever I want and play god in my world *evil laughter*.
@bellevox asked- I loved the fact that your husband made a song for your story. He’s a very talented musician! This is real love! If you do not mind, could you tell us a little about your family? If you do not want to, you do not need to.
I am really blessed to have such a loving husband! Not only does he support my writing, but he is also extremely patient and listens to my ramblings about plot twists, character arcs and synonyms. He has written 2 songs for my story (Nameless Lady and Thranduil’s Lament) and he keeps asking me for the next poem ;). As many of you must have guessed around here, I am a bit older than your average tumblr user, but hey, one is never too old to be passionate about something. I am a working mum of 5 (in between the age of 20 and 7) and we have 2 dogs (Yavanna and Nenya) and 3 cats (Mina, Zuko and Sansa). Our kids are growing up with Tolkien, Harry Potter and fantasy in general, Gandalf is a household name and even the little one can sing ‘They’re taking the hobbits to Isengard’ ;).
@beelovesbutterfly wanted to know- What is one cause that is dear to your heart?
As a mother of an angel baby, miscarriage and stillbirth are causes that are very close to my heart. These topics are still widely a taboo in our society and yet it happens to mothers all the time. I strongly believe that it is important to offer those mothers help and support and to let them know that they are not alone in their grief.
@beelovesbutterfly - What is your favorite flower? Daisy (it’s small, simple and perfect)
@beelovesbutterfly -Do you have a bad writing habit? I write too much. Just kidding, but no, seriously, I can deviate too much from what I want to say and I can spend hours researching synonyms and searching for that perfect word instead of just going ahead with the story. I’m trying to keep my sentences short and focused, but it’s difficult. And I have the tendency to get enamored with specific words, says my husband ;)
@beelovesbutterfly -Who is your Hollywood crush? **ahem** Lee Pace (obviously ;))
And from @eldritchmage - What story would you want to write about your favorite king that you haven’t written yet?
In have lots of other ideas about possible stories with Thranduil. I’ve been thinking on a story with an elvish OC, just to give it a different twist away from the dichotomy of mortal and immortal. But what I really would love to write is a humorous story, something light and funny and completely different from the angsty romance I am writing now. Possibly even a modern AU with Thrandy running a beauty parlor or something like that ;). I’m sure this would be loads of fun!

-Vague and Generic, but Wholesome Greeting-
After receiving a cool 350 followers to this blog so far, I thought I should at least have the decency to say hi and maybe introduce myself.
SO--
Tumblr media
--And goodbye.
Just kidding.
I know that many of you are here for the goods (Dragon Age, Solas, Lord of the Rings, Thranduil, kick ass OCs, elfy garbage, and more Solas...), so I won’t take up your dash space. Read below if you wish to learn a little more about me as the creator of this blog and what I hope to post in the upcoming future on this page! Read below the cut for more (Solas Approves if you do).
A little about me:
I am a 23-year-old female and new to Tumblr (only been here for a few months now)
I am a full time student teacher and will be graduating in May with my teaching degree
RPGs are my favorite video game genre to play (Dragon Age, Skyrim, Fallout--you get it)
Dragon Age Origins was the first true RPG I ever played (I ran a rogue the first time)
Fantasy is my favorite genre for any media
My first major fanfiction I wrote was a Harry Potter fanfiction at over (100,000 words) and is still up and unfinished (I am hated on FF.net now, probably)
I play Dungeons and Dragons with a ragtag group of people on the weekends (bonus: my DM once put Solas in our campaign to fuck with me--he called him Ven’Heral, smooooooth)
When I drink, I use blackberry wine as a mixer for my raspberry vodka because I feel that getting close to death on the weekends should at least be as enjoyable as possible (and because I am garbage)
I have a main account that I post aesthetic jazz, folklore, and self-care tips on that are personal to me (should I share...?)
My Dragon Age OC nowadays is typically an elven mage, well-versed in sarcasm whenever possible (I may share more about her in the future)
My sleep schedule is forever ruined
Thoughts on the page:
I am soooo glad I started this page as a cache for the cool Dragon Age ideas, beautiful gifs, artwork, headcannons, and Lord of the Rings musings and art. I am glad many of you enjoy the content I share. I wish I could post more original content or commit to creating my own headcannons, fanfictions, and artwork--but I stay busy teaching and getting in my college requirements finished as of late.
Some things you ought to know:
I LOVE sharing gifs, artwork, and stories featuring YOUR OCs in the Dragon Age fandom. Ya’ll have some beautiful characters with wonderful backstories that deserve to be shared and recognized. Keep it up!
I am a big Solavellan fan (obviously), but I love shipping many different relationships across the fandom because each one is complex and unique in its own way--and that’s super cool.
I love theorizing in the Dragon Age fandom because we have SO many questions left unanswered.
I like to create Dragon Age reaction gif posts because they speak to my soul. Hope ya’ll can cope with that until I can post more original jazz.
I don’t post a lot of LOTR or Hobbit things, but I enjoy getting the chance to do so (especially of the elves). What are your all’s opinions on my sharing of Tolkien things?
Sometimes I post/reblog in bunches because I stay busy at most hours of the day and spam share at others because of my weird availability right now.
If you ever reblog with a response or @ me in something that I don’t catch, I am sorry! It has been tough lately with my schedule. I’ll look back soon and respond the best I can. (Thank you for taking the time to do so!)
My inbox is always open if you want to chat, have any blog suggestions, or strong opinions about me using wine as a mixer for vodka.
If you have any questions about me personally, any suggestions for this page, or comments on anything at all--ask away! You can also ask anonymously, so feel free.
Stay cool, homies.

Valentine Fandom Meme
Happy Valentine’s Day, friends! This year I’m on time!
For Valentine’s this year, I wanted to do the same meme I did last year, but this time I did it with a new fandom. This is originally an ask meme, but since I never get asks, I’m doing it as a regular meme. Taken from courierhawk’s reblog; original questions from thevirdirthara.
Harry Potter series
Your favorite non-canon ship?
I have quite a few non-canon ships, but I think Lunarry (HarryXLuna) is my favorite. I’ve always liked their chemistry and friendship.
Is there a ship you didn’t like at first but ultimately started shipping?
I used to hate Dramione (DracoXHermione) on principle, but then I read a beautiful fanfic that made it more realistic for me.
What is the rarest rare pair (that you ship)?
A Harry Potter series rare pair? Do those exist? Lol, probably Lunarry or Druna (DracoXLuna)? I don’t really ship rare things in Harry Potter—that I know of, anyway. I haven’t dipped into fanfiction for the fandom for a while. I don’t know what’s popular and what’s not anymore.
Name a popular ship you don’t get the appeal of.
Yaoi, yuri, and incest in general (also pedophiliac ships), but especially Snack (SeverusXSirius). I just, NO. I may not ship Wolfstar (SiriusXRemus) and Drarry (HarryXDraco), but at least I understand them.
What is your most fluffy + happy ship?
Probably Luneville (NevilleXLuna). No relationship is perfectly happy or fluffy, but I think these two have the most to be fluffy about as they support each other in their struggles.
What is your most angsty ship?
Probably either Dramione or Sevily (SeverusXLily). The circumstances required for these ships to work out are tough, angst-filled roads.
A non-canon ship that should be canon?
This one’s a little tough because it is technically kinda sorta canon in the movies, but Luneville because gosh darn, they are cute.
Your oldest ship; the one you’ve shipped for the longest time?
This one is hard to say. Every ship I’ve ever shipped in Harry Potter has spent at one time or another time as a ship I did not ship. My shipping influence in YuGiOh really helped ground me in how I ended up shipping things in my other fandoms—coming to terms with my multishipping tendencies as well as my innate desire to ship the potentials for ships rather than just what canon put in front of me. In light of this, I think Romione (RonXHermione) is my longest-standing ship.
What ship represents the kind of relationship you’d love to have?
Lunarry. I really like the way they support each other and look after each other, and I love that they can be themselves around each other and accept each other, even those parts of one another that may be more negative. I think the most important part of a romantic relationship is friendship, and I think Luna and Harry have this as well.
Is there a ship that makes your skin crawl?
Like I said in the last Valentine meme I did, yaoi and yuri are uncomfortable for me, but incest and pedophilia will always make my skin crawl.
What is a character you can only imagine in one particular ship?
Is it cliché of me to say most of the married couples? I mean, I do ship Lily with more than one person, but other than that, I don’t really ship that generation much.
What is your favorite canon ship?
I have two, and it’s complicated. Of all my ships, especially canon ships, I have been back and forth the most on my feelings for Jily (JamesXLily) and Hinny (HarryXGinny). I sort of shipped them when I first started reading just because I was young and impressionable, and canon displayed them for me to see. Then I went through a period where I hated James and Harry and refused to love anything about their canon pairings, but then I matured, and now I love them both. The fanart and fanfiction for these ships are generally very cute, and I enjoy that.
Name a ship that deserved more content.
All of my non-canon ships XD *shot* Honestly, it would be nice to have been able to see more of Ronks (RemusXTonks) just because I felt like their relationship wasn’t ever fully fleshed out on screen. It also weirds me out that Tonks is only a few years older than Harry, but she still ends up married to someone Harry’s dad’s age.
Is there a ship you feel gets undeserved hate in fandom?
Depends on what corner of the fandom you’re in. Honestly, all of the ships in Harry Potter have hate somewhere. I don’t think any one of them is necessarily hated more than another. In fact, for every hater, there’s probably at least two huge fans.
What is the first ship you had?
If I know my child self as well as I think I do (which is that I believed canon was holy and everything in it was fact), then that would probably be Charry (HarryXCho), which is one ship I no longer ship all that much.
Is there a ship that made you realize something about yourself?
Not really. Most of my realizations about myself concerning shipping came from YuGiOh. As far as myself as a person, I don’t really know.
Is there a type of ship you always go for?
This answer is gonna be really similar to the one from the YuGiOh meme I did last year. Depends on the situation. I’m a sucker for strong female characters who could be paired with lots of guys because I’m such a multishipper, and I love cute fluffy pairings. I do like ships with interesting conflict, but the fluffy ones always get me, or even just the potential for fluff.
Is there a ship the writers have ruined for you?
If you’d asked me that about ten years ago, I would have said Jily, probably. Now, though, I can’t say that one exists.
Is there a ship the fandom has ruined for you?
Not really. Fandom tends to help me ship more things rather than ruin ships for me.
Have you ever created fan created content for a ship?
Let me think on that. I’ve never drawn any of my ships, but as far as writing goes, I’ve briefly mentioned Romione in one oneshot. The only other thing I can think of is that my Harry Potter OC is Harry’s younger sister, which makes her a Jily baby.
Favorite thing you’ve ever created for a ship?
Considering I’ve done basically nothing, does my OC count? XD
Is there a ship you’ll never admit you have?
No. I’m not ashamed of my ships. I admit that I don’t talk about some of them as much, but that doesn’t mean I don’t ship them or that I’m afraid to admit it.
Have you ever started shipping a ship because of the fans?
My love for Dramione can be blamed on the fans.
What is one scene you want to see happen for all your ships?
I still like the idea of a proposal for all of them, but weddings would be fantastic, too.
Is there a ship you wish you didn’t know existed?
Anything incest or pedophilia.
Name a ship that ended like you wanted it to.
Hinny and Romione because they get married and have kids and are probably way cute families alskdfjlaskdf
Name a ship that deserved better in the end.
Jily or Ronks. I know, I know, without Jily’s bitter end, the series wouldn’t exist, and Ronks makes the orphan cycle come full circle, but gosh dangit, THEY DESERVED TO BE HAPPY.
Is there a character you have several ships for?
As a multishipper, there will always be characters with more than one ship. As far as several goes, though, not really in the Harry Potter series. In this series, probably Harry, but I only ship him with three girls: Ginny, Luna, and Hermione (though Harmony only in certain fanfiction). If you include crossover ships (which I do have because I can’t help it), then that is still Harry, though Hermione becomes a close second.
What is the ship you ignore 98% of canon for?
Sevily, though sometimes Dramione (except I don’t like the way some fanfiction authors bend Draco in order to make Dramione work).
Is there a ship you like but you dislike the fandom?
Sometimes Harmony shippers rub me the wrong way, mostly because they tend to slip into Ron bashing. I don’t love him as much as I used to, but Ron was my favorite character when I first read the series, and he doesn’t deserve as much hate as he gets (though I admit, I have read some pretty good fics that include a little Ron bashing).
I ship a lot less in Harry Potter than I do in YuGiOh, but hey, that’s alright. If you wanna talk ships with me, don’t be afraid to hit me up. I’d love to chat~ See you all next year probably with another one of these maybe? We’ll see.

Tumblr media
screams i love him and rereading this app gave me so many feels i died. have at it babes.
♔ INTRODUCTION
HELLO!! I’m Snow, I’m 20 years old and I’m from the (GMT)+3 timezone. I use she/her pronouns.
♔ ACTIVITY
I’m active in one other rpg currently, and I have college to keep me a bit busy at times ( a BIT lmao) but I always make time for rp, and I can safely say I’ll be online 6-7/10 of the time.
♔ HOW DID YOU FIND US?
A whiiiiile back through the hp rp tag.
♔ HOW ARE YOU?
Nervous? And excited!! And very giddy bc i fell in love with the character I’m applying for and I can’t wait for the chance to play them in this verse ekbfuceos Ikwdcn!!!
♔ WHAT HARRY POTTER CHARACTER DO YOU IDENTIFY WITH MOST?:
Weirdly enough I never thought of this before, but I suppose – Neville Longbottom. Or Severus Snape. I can’t decide.
♔ ANYTHING ELSE?
nope
IN CHARACTER
 ♔ DESIRED CHARACTER
Dirk Cresswell.
♔ FACE CLAIM
My absolutely number one choice for dirk would be Ezra Miller. He just has the exact look I had envisioned for Dirk while writing him out in my head, especially in Perks – the easy-going attitude, the dramatic hand gestures, the charming smile, the confidence, and the slightest touch of flamboyance. If the admins can’t see him working, I could go for landon liboiron, who shares similar qualities with Ezra but isn’t quuuite what I’m looking for – in a pinch, Xavier Dolan could work for me, but he doesn’t have nearly enough smiley gifs tbh he needs to be less emo (still pretty tho my GOD) or nico Tortorella, who has the confidence and positivity but not, er. The gait, I suppose? I dunno, but I’m really hoping Ezra works for you guys, he’s really the best choice I could think of!! (for some reason Miles Tiller just doesn’t click?? With me?? At all??)
♔ REASON FOR CHOSEN CHARACTER
I love, love, love building characters up from scratch. Writing out a character from the ground up and layering them with complexities, with virtues and vices and faults, with feelings and insecurities and demons of their own, I love it. It’s the most exciting thing I could think of, and I love writing characters with blatant, intriguing contradictions – the elegant lady with a lion’s roar, the honest man who is a hypocrite as well, the boy who both craves and hates the idea of affection, at once – I love exploring their nuances, seeing how they play out, how their traits push and pull at one another and make the character whole, alive and breathing as though they were real. I guess you could say it’s my passion. It’s also why I tend to choose characters who were barely canon, or who were ocs of the roleplay. It gives me a wonderful amount of freedom to be creative, and I like to take full advantage of that.
Dirk Cresswell strikes me as someone who is confident and arrogant and a little flamboyant, but hardly with the self-esteem to match. he’s petty and competitive and a little dramatic, but he’s also rather clever, intelligent, and competent. He is kind, and loyal, and unforgiving. Betrayal is a sin, an unforgivable sin, and yet what he does with Aversio is not betrayal to his friends – protection, justice, It Has To Be Done. He gives it a hundred names, a hundred reasons, and learns to shoulder the guilt and adjust to the weight of it and keep moving. (he is yet to forgive himself for it, but he was never deluded enough to think justice was easy to come by. If the price for their safety is to taint his relationship with them, then he is willing to pay such a price.)
(the thought occurs to him, once – would it be betrayal if he were to simply severe ties with them, if there were no friendships for him to forsake, if he were not forced into a conflict of loyalty and justice? would he have to betray his friends if they were simply no longer friends? The thought is dismissed with a wry abruptness – perhaps a braver soul than him could go through with such a thing, perhaps a better man than him would do it. Dirk is content, for now, with reminding himself of why what they’re doing is important, why Aversio is the only way.)
He is an arrogant boy with an inferiority complex. He is driven by his emotions – he loves and he loves fully, with an open heart, but he never trusts with the same ease, he was a boy who was shown love and taught not to trust it. in his veins thrums a desire for justice, for fairness, for equality, it beats and it burns like a second heart, it keeps him awake some nights and it keeps him moving. It drives him, this keen sense for right and wrong.
Dirk is not an idealist, however. He is an optimist, though his optimism is not born of naivety – it is not born of ignorance, of innocence, he knows of tragedy and he knows of prejudice and of oppression, but seeing the best in life and the best in people is what he chooses to do, what has helped him past the dreary days when he’d thought there would be no light at the end of the tunnel.
to further show how I envision him to be, I would like to expand on some of his traits:
+ TALENTED:
Dirk’s magical talents were difficult to miss, even to those who really, really tried, and it was not entirely for the considerable amount of bragging on Dirk’s part – though, arguably, that was a large part of it – but his hands, deft with potions and charms and defensive spells, where quick to catch people’s attention, and keep it. his exceptional dueling skills had not gone unnoticed, either, not by his teachers, and certainly not by his pureblooded schoolmates, who have repeatedly tested his abilities first hand.
+SOCIABLE:
Dirk is That One Kid that knows everyone, and who everyone knows. He joined every extracellular activity the school had to offer at one point or another, he never missed a chance to hang out and have fun, and he was always interested in meeting new people and making new friends. His easy humor and confident attitude drew people to him and relaxed them in his company, his optimism and cheeky remarks making him an uplifting presence to have around. He is secretive, however, keeping his emotional troubles and inner demons far away from preying eyes, even those he considers close, preferring to pull a cheery grin upon his lips than admitting to the guilt than is slowly chipping away at him from within.
-TRUST ISSUES:
Dirk has been shown love and taught not to trust it. a parting gift, from his mother, one could say. he finds difficulty – immense difficulty – in sharing his troubles, or his secrets of any kind, with anyone. he loves and he cares about his friends and there is very little he wouldn’t do for them, but trust is something that is difficult to come by, for him, and it is something that frustrates his friends to no end.
-ARROGANT:
Dirk has an exaggerated sense of his own abilities. He is talented, yes, anyone would be hard pressed to deny that, but he tends to – overestimate, what he can do. It could also be put down to his perfectionist nature, that he would bite off more than he could chew and simply expect himself to rise up to the challenge.
It is also important to note, however, that as sure as he is of his own capabilities and talents, he is never sure of himself. Of Dirk, of his own self-worth and of his own self-esteem. He is an arrogant braggart with an inferiority complex.
♔ PREFERRED SHIPS/ANTI-SHIPS
SEXUALITY: gay, and not particularly interested in hiding it.
SHIPS: tbh I’m all about chemistry. I don’t particularly mind if no romantic interests cropped up along the way, i’m more interested in exploring dirk as a character first and foremost. If a romantic interest does come along I would absolutely be down to explore that as well – I would also be interested in plots that don’t necessarily end happily for either character tbh lmao angst is my natural scent like fucking slather me in it okay. (side note: I love. Unlikely pairings. Very much.)
♔ CREATE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING FOR YOUR CHARACTER:
Mockblog: dork-cresswell.tumblr.com  (I posted the kinda sorta long history/bio section in the mockblog, I hope it would be considered as part of the application as well? Thank you :) )
IN CHARACTER QUESTIONNAIRE
♔ If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it? Feel free to name it:
Is there, like. Is there a potion to just. Make pureblooded bigots stop being so bigoted? Or make them disappear, or something, I’m not picky.
♔ You have to venture deep into the Forbidden Forest one night. Pick one other character and one object (muggle or magical), besides your wand, that you’d want with you:
Sal, definitely. Did you see her swing that wretched bat of hers? You don’t want to get in the way of that, it’s absolutely sick. you’ll love it. And I suppose some food would be good, for the object, wouldn’t it.
♔ What kinds of decisions are the most difficult for you to make?
When to take a bloody break. I can never do that. Sal’s always breathing down my neck about it, but I can’t bloody well help it, okay? Somethings just have to get done.
♔ What is one thing you would never want said about you?
That I’m a braggart. Because I’m not, and anyone who says that is a bloody liar, okay? I just like to let people know I’m better than them. Sometimes. At some things. It’s not bragging if it’s true, is it?
(ooc: That he isn’t good enough. That he is lesser, that he is a disappointment. His perfectionist attitude is largely due to survivor’s guilt – he blames himself, in part, for what had happened to Robert, and had subconsciously spent the years following trying to make up for what he’d ‘done’, or hadn’t, as it were.)
WRITING SAMPLE
darkness. that was the first thing he was aware of. and soft covers – softer than the ones he had at his apartment. a distinct feeling of annoyance…
“–et up already!”
ah, yes. little sisters, he’s been told, were angels. it’s a good thing he doesn’t believe everything he’s told anymore. he buries his face further into the pillow, and tries not to think of why he made his way here in the middle of the night. “leave me alone.” he mutters, a little petulantly.
“dirk, it’s getting late. get up.”
“i can’t.” he groans, perhaps more wounded than he really was. “you’ll have to go on without me. i have reached the end of my tether, i can only further hold you back.”
“dirk.”
“i’ve lived a fulfilling life, i have no regrets. you have to promise me you’ll do the same.”
“dirk.”
“no.” he waves her away, burying his face further into the pillow, though that’s only to hide the growing grin upon his face. “i know it’s hard, but you can live without me, Sal, i believe in yo–” and the world flips, suddenly, upside down, light assaulting his eyes as his head hit the floor with a loud thud.
there is a moment of silence. from his place on the floor, he blinks. “why would you do that.”
“you were being dumb again.”
he sits up on his elbows, blinking up at her again. “you pushed me off the couch.” he repeats. “what kind of sister does that?”
she rolls her eyes, though there’s a hint of a smile pulling at her lips. she throws him a bottle of soda and he catches it. “go wash your face.” she says, sitting down beside him and opening a bottle of her own, evidently not expecting him to get up and go wash. “you’re gross.”
“thanks.” he deadpans, sitting up and leaning his back against the sofa. “i feel so loved.”
the room is silent, then, save for the sound of bottles clinking, the caps popped off and the bubbles hissing away. she adjusts herself for a moment, and dirk waits for the inevitable.
“well?” she asks, and she doesn’t have to add anything, she’s asked him this a hundred times: what’s going on? why did you come here in the middle of the night? why were you screaming in your sleep? why are you scared? why are you hurt? can’t you tell me, your sister, am i losing you too?
he doesn’t say anything. he never says anything. he is afraid his lips would open and his sins would all come spilling out, that he would tell her everything, everything, that she would not understand. That she would look at him and see something vile, something scary. that she would never want to look at him again. he says nothing. he can’t afford to lose her too.
“oh, i see.” she says, a lilt to her tone that would have suggested lightness, in a less dreary moment. “you can’t tell me, again.”
the air grows heavy between them, thick with secrets he can’t not keep. ‘i killed someone’, he wants to say, desperately, but doesn’t. he brings the bottle to his lips and takes a long swig instead.
he is not a murderer. he is not Dark, he is not a bad person, he is not a criminal. he knows this, he knows, and he knows they’re all just doing what has to be done, that Aversio is the only way, that fighting fire with fire is all that seems to work.
he knows this. he knows what they’re doing, and he knows why they’re doing it, and he knows why it’s important.
but some nights he needs to remember. some nights he seems to forget.
she rests her head against his shoulder, her hands wrapped around his arm. he only lasts a beat, or two, before he turns and envelopes her in his arms as well. he holds her tightly, his mouth pressed into a thin line, careful not to say a word or more would spill.
this is what he’s doing: murder.
this is why he’s doing it: she is here. she is here, and alive, and whole, and unharmed. she will stay this way, and he will make sure of it.

My 11 Answers
1. What drew you to Tumblr Roleplaying?
A friend. I had a friend who was really into RPing and she told me about Tumblr once, so I ended up making a blog in 2011 and... Well, 5 blogs later, here I am.
2. Did you RP somewhere else prior to Tumblr? Where else?
Kinda yeah? on messenger back in the day. I was in like this weird kind of Naruto community? it was hilarious.
3. What is your favorite part of RPing?
The people. I’ve met so many awesome people in this place and they are all so nice and supportive and friendly? They’ve truly gotten me through some hard times.
4. What is your least favorite part of RPing?
How fickle it can be and how one sided it feels sometimes. I get that people’s muse work in different ways and rhythms, but sometimes you’re left there so excited about something other people barely care about? That sucks.
5. Any former muses you miss writing?
There is one of my first OCs, Lance. He was fun and a hot mess. I miss him sometimes, but I can’t bring myself to play such a flawed character anymore. I need more light in my life xD.
6. What’s your favorite thing about your muse?
Which one? I’ll just pick Max. My favorite thing about Max is his duality, because he is kind of a netrual character and according to the people he surrounds himself with he can develop to be super good or super bad, with no in between. I love how he’s always walking on the thin line between right and wrong.
7. Do you think that if you and your muse were to meet, you would get along?
I think Max and I would get along, but his pessimism would weigh on me. Hopefully I’d be enough to help him see life in a different way
8. Is there any genre or setting of Roleplay that you cannot stand?
I wouldn’t say I cannot stand it, because I can. I just don’t like mindless smut? Threads where it’s just sex and no depth, no character development, no different kind of interactions? Smut is great, I love smut, but just smut is so boring in my opinion...
9. Do you ever reread threads? Which ones?
More than I would like to admit, especially the first interactions of ships and brotps that have come a long way from their first threads. Those are my favorite.
10. Is there any particular plot or dynamic which you haven’t yet had the chance to RP that you want to? What is it?
I guess I’ve always wanted to have this sort of kid/adult kind of relationship? But in a platonic mentor/guide kind of way? I don’t think I’ve ever had the chance to do that before.
11. What are your favorite books?
Let me stop you right there. It’s Harry Potter. I love Harry Potter. End of story.
