Aimsey: Bad, can you give us a rundown on everything you know?
Bad: Oh yeah, so basically, no one gets eliminated in the first day just like a lil competition, I think we're gonna– [muffled] do teams?
Tubbo: How many days? Wait, I really missed the memo. 😨 Oh my god.
Bad: What?! Did you read the pamphlet?
Tubbo: There's a... pamphlet? 😥
Aimsey: [Laughs] Toby just heard "event" and said yes.
Bad: Yeah, so Day 1, you'll bully and beat up Tubbo.
Aimsey: Oh! Ok, ok, right, I'm listening, ok.
Wait, sorry– I just got a message from Pac being like "Do you want to play Minecraft together?" and I was like "Yeah!"
Foolish: Man, I thought I was like, lazy with figuring it out, but you know even less!
Bad: I can send you the- the- the pamphlet.
Foolish: ...Wait, is there an English version of the pamphlet???
Aimsey: We are so done for.
Fit: DO YOU READ THE EMAILS???
Tubbo: EMAILS???
Foolish: I open one PDF and I then was like, "Oh, this is in Portuguese, guess I'm screwed. 🤷♂️"
Tubbo: Is it survival Minecraft? Oh my god, no, it's gonna start giving me flashbacks, I can't do this again. 😰
Fit: Tubbo, did you research anything before signing up for this event???

PHANNIE COOKBOOK SIGN-UPS!!
Do you have a really good recipe you think Dan and Phil would enjoy? Consider submitting it to this collaborative phannie cookbook that will be given to DnP at a meet & greet! It will also be available to everyone to download as a PDF.
Family recipes or your favourite dish from your country/culture is a bonus, but it doesn’t have to be that personal. All I ask is that you don’t go rip something random off the Internet right now just to be in the book, I want food you genuinely enjoy!
I’ve decided the most efficient way of doing this is to let you submit up to 3 different options, that way if there are any repeats (and I’m certain there will be) I won’t have to message everyone it concerns to ask if you have any alternatives. Besides, that way I can choose which version gets in based on your other options rather than which one “sounds better” to me, cause I think that would be a little unfair. I also have no idea how many people will actually participate in this yet, which is currently the biggest hurdle in terms of planning. If only a few sign up there is a chance we’ll end up using multiple recipes by some, and if somehow we get too many I’ll have to pick and choose. I do really want to include as many people as possible, but until I actually see the recipes it’s hard to tell what will end up happening.
The main focus of this will be actual food, but we obviously need to include a few desserts, so feel free to submit those as well just be aware the chances of those getting picked might be lower. The same goes for soups, I assume a lot of people have soup recipes and we might include a couple, but for obvious reasons it's a low priority.
Some key things to keep in mind:
Phil is a bit picky and has some dietary restrictions! He shouldn’t have dairy or chocolate and he doesn’t like cheese or mushrooms, among other things. That doesn’t mean you have to avoid these things entirely, but maybe your grandma’s mac and cheese recipe isn’t the best choice
While neither of them is vegan they do eat a lot of vegan food, so we definitely need some vegan dishes. I also think it would be really great if you suggested vegetarian and/or vegan substitutions you know work well with your recipe! That isn’t a must for every dish, but it’s a nice addition where possible
Tragically, Dan and Phil are British, meaning they won’t necessarily have access to all the same ingredients as you. Luckily they are also rich and live in a major city with a lot of options so they aren’t limited to what they can find at their local Tesco, but since the aim of this book is to encourage them to cook we probably shouldn’t be sending them on a scavenger hunt either. I don’t think this will be a huge issue, but if your recipe calls for something you think might be very niche or local to you it might be worth googling it or asking around
The final book will be using UK measurements, but if your recipe doesn’t then don’t even worry about it for now. We’ll get to that later. You also don’t have to worry about typing out the whole step-by-step in detail in the sign-up form, I just need a list of the ingredients and roughly how to prepare it to gauge whether it’s a good fit.
I promise I’m almost done yapping but lastly, about some of the questions on the form - you don’t need to know exactly how long the dish takes to prepare, that will depend on the person or people making it anyway, but we do need a rough estimate. The difficulty level is obviously quite subjective, but I just want to hear how you personally would rank it, and if there is a specific part of the process you think someone who doesn’t cook a lot might struggle with. As for the last question about photos, I’m asking both if you have the time and opportunity to make the food and if you are able to take a good photo of it. Obviously it doesn’t have to be anything professional, a phone camera is fine, it just needs to be well lit and decent quality.
Okay, I think that’s everything-
Here's the sign-up form
The deadline is in a week, at midnight Thursday to Friday CET :)
(I also made a blog for this @phookbook for information and updates! A lot of it will probably still be on this blog, but I'll try to post/reblog the most important things on there for those who want to keep up with everything but who may not want to deal with all the chaos of pseudophan)

Google Drive full of book PDFs about Chernobyl
Link to the Google Drive if you don't want to click the title: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1kscKFciW6almJA8p-0sUQPO3c0A4AQYe
Note: It will be updated regularly - for as long as I'll be able to find/get new things =) So far I've compiled 41 books in three languages.
Just to repeat what I said in the first post: I'm open to any requests or suggestions or even PDFs themselves, if someone wants to share theirs from their collection. Message me, send me an ask, throw a rock through my window - whatever you prefer, just please, do it yourself because I'm too scared to message anyone, thanks. No fiction - that's the only rule. Any language is welcome - if you want me to look for a certain book in the language of your choice, I'll do that. If you have a book in language other than English, I'd love to add it to the Drive! If you have a better version of whatever PDF I've already got, then I'd be more than happy to do a swap.
Now, some of my reasoning, if anyone's interested: first of all, I think it's important for everyone to be able to access stuff like this. Think of it as a library, minus the "give these back" part. Secondly, I get soooo mad when people are like haha, found this super rare, basically impossible to find, very expensive book! ...I shall now keep it exclusively to myself. Ma'am, you're ruining the vibe and stalling everyone's hobby research but I guess you do you...
List of all the books (under the cut):

Commissions Open!
With November coming to an end, I'm pleased to announce that my writing commissions are OPEN! With the work I do, I have a dreadful gap of four weeks where there won't be any pay except for from gigs like this, so I need help making ends meet until my next work opportunities in January. That's where my good old brainrot cure comes in. If you've ever wondered why a story won't write itself, well... There's a way! Just hire a dead guy to do it for you. <3 I’m especially good at nailing character voices, hurt/comfort, polyamory, and subtle moments of intimacy. While I don’t mind writing intimate scenes, I don’t accept graphic NSFW requests, non-con, or underage. When in doubt, just check in with me first! You can message me here on Tumblr, or email me at [email protected].
The hellsite, as I’m sure you know, does eat asks and such sometimes, so if you don’t hear back, don’t be afraid to reach out again! I also do cute little pdf layouts, so if you have a story you love and that you'd like to have a nice version of for your phone, I'm happy to put one together for you for a fee.
Price List (CAD)
1000 words for $20 1500 words for $35 2000 words for $45 Pro rate for writers these days is $0.08 per word, so my commission rates are an absolute steal. Our dollar is also a little bit trash here in the land of maple syrup and poutine or whatever, so if you happen to trade in eagle bux, even better for you! My commissions help me pay for things like sertraline, funding for my ongoing effort to be reunited with my beloved husband, the occasional good meal, and resources for my work as a professional Dungeon Master (I can’t believe that one either). So hire a dead guy, and help support a queer creative. I also donate any tips to Gaza Funds.
If you’re looking for a longer work, feel free shoot me an email at [email protected] and we’ll chat. Words are what I do.
Work Samples
You can read all my Tav Tales to date here on AO3, but here are some of the highlights.
To Live in Infamy (2k Durgetash)
The morning, Enver is lucky enough to have pants on. The Slayer snaps his chains as it comes screaming into the daylight, barrelling out of the bed. The force of Infamy’s awakening sends Enver rolling onto the floor, narrowly missing being crushed by the bedframe. He’s tangled in their sheets, and already lamenting that they’ll need to be replaced. This silk had come all the way from Waterdeep. That’s his first thought, even with his heart pounding in his ears. He struggles to free himself, but the Slayer isn’t coming for him. There’s the acrid smell of half-cast sorcery, and then the screaming starts. When something warm and wet splashes onto him, soaking through the sheets, Enver hopes it’s blood. The crunching of bones and the smell of bright copper gives him a little hope that it’s not something worse. It wouldn’t be the first time a would be assassin emptied their stomach or their bowels in terror before the Slayer. Enver unrolls himself at last, leaning back on his elbows to enjoy the show, even as the blood—and thank goodness it is blood—soaks through his nice sheets. The mess quite nearly defies description.
Callus (2k Tav/Astarion/Halsin)
“Oh, my dear, what a miserable turn of events.” Astarion kisses Lukan’s hair gently. “I could probably catch up with him, you know. Plenty of good alleyways in this end of town to drag him into, get him acquainted with my nice new boots. Sturdy enough to kick a man entirely to death.” “You got new boots?” Lukan can’t help a watery smile, desperate to redirect the conversation. He doesn’t want Thindulion killed. It had been bad enough to bury his mother, and as much as he wants to hate his father for abandoning them, he hates the thought of being orphaned even more. And now he knows he has a sister, and he couldn’t put her through that. “That’s beside the point,” Astarion says. “I’m asking if a little spot of patricide might cheer you up.” Lukan shakes his head. “It’s not like that,” he says. He wants to try to make light, to play along with Astarion’s flippant turn of phrase, but it’s just too heavy. It doesn’t go unnoticed. “I might have another idea, in that case,” Astarion tells him. “Why don’t you have a sit on the bed, get those boots off, and I’ll be back, having done precisely no murders, I promise.”
In the Spider’s Parlor (3.5k Tav/Kar'niss)
She peers over her shoulder at him and then rolls her head, exposing more of her neck. Suddenly his need, that wretched appetite, is not as hideous as it has been, he feels no disgust for what he wants, for the curse that makes him want it. There’s only this moment. He nips lightly, slipping his arms around her, embracing the warmth. He reaches out with his forelegs, feeling her, holding her securely as he had done that first time. He’s heard the sound she makes when letting blood, and now he knows it for what it is. Pleasure. His purr rumbles low in his chest, but he never bites, lapping softly at the thin rivulet of blood that wells from where he’s nipped her, one delectable drop at a time. Solinore reaches up, one hand tangling in his hair, relaxing in his grip. “What you ask of me, is yours,” Kar’niss says, applying pressure to the nick he’d made to stop what little bleeding he’d caused. “You sure?” she asks, playfully. “I could ask for another ride on your back. Or…” He knows what that smirk implies. “What you ask of me,” he says again, “is yours.”

Wiping Away Your Tears update.
So today is the day where I am allowed to edit my fic which I did and removed all the violations I did about my dad deporting thing and all of the links. I could only edit the story, footnotes, and stuff, so I can't answer comments or edit them so if I mentioned anything about gofundme or ko-fi accounts in the comments when I wasn't supposed to, I don't know what else I can do about that cause AO3 won't let me edit it.
If all I did is still not enough, then they will delete Wiping Away Your Tears but send me a downloaded version of it in pdf form, not that that it will matter because I already copied and pasted all chapters to a word document. But the comments will be lost, unfortunately 😔
Anyway, another update on my dad's situation. Unless the German government makes a move, we are planning on getting him out of there by the end of summer. I am doing writing commissions for people who don't just want to donate which if you are interested, you can send me a message on here. Or I will draw stuff too if you like my art. I'll basically make anything within reason.
But if you would like to help out and donate, yet again, here are the links to both accounts.
Here is the Ko-fi one :
And the gofundme one:
And I made sure since I can't post this stuff on AO3 any more cause of that snitch, I removed the patreon stuff and anything indicating about money or the such at all. Making me remove a lot of stuff (My lore 😫)
Anywho, if you can help out my dad at all, that would be appreciated, thank you very much. And thank you to all those who have helped me out so far. I am forever grateful.
Until then, I think we should have seven days from now to see if Wiping Away Your Tears is free from the AO3 gods' clutches and can be peacefully updated again.
I left that chapter where a bitched about my relative though. Hate that cunt and she should be talked badly about :/

Tools Tuesday - Tagging - Oct 8
Tools Tuesday is a weekly part of the Finish What You Started event where I share various resources I have found to help everyone complete their WIP. Have a resource you want to share? Send it in a message and I'll take a look!
This Tools Tuesday is all about tagging, for when you're ready to post your finished work on Archive of Our Own or any other site that uses tags! AO3, as the most popular fic posting site, will be the focus.
To begin: what are tags? And why do we use them?
Tags are keywords used to describe a fic or post. They can serve a variety of functions, but at their core they tell a viewer what to expect when they click in. On some sites (like Tumblr), they are at the bottom of the post. On AO3, they are the third thing seen, after title and author.
As seen in this handy infographic from SummerofSpock on tumblr, tags on A03 fall into 5 rough categories: Canon, Format, Tone, Relationship, Theme.
[full image ID in ALT text. Infographic titled "Tags are Tricky…a quick and dirty guide" with tag example lists in the categories of Canon, Format, Tone, Relationship, Theme. Each box is a different pink, in a gradient. End ID.]
source:
https://summerofspock.tumblr.com/post/698388759652319232/mostlyinthemorning-i-kind-of-suck-at-tagging-so
Not every fic might use every category, and there are certainly tags that overlap categories. There's also what I consider a 6th category, which is Author Commentary (no beta we die like xx, character needs a hug, why did i do that much research for a single paragraph, etc).
All of that aside, why should you use tags?
They help readers find and enjoy your fic! The two main uses of tags when searching is Seeking and Avoidance.
Seeking is when a reader really wants to read a particular thing, like they want fix-its only or just Modern AUs. Once they narrow it down to fandom, these are the tags they'll type into the search bar. If your work isn't properly tagged, it won't show up, even if it's the epitome of a Coffee Shop AU and that's the term they search. Generously tag so readers can find you!
Avoidance is excluding a fic from consideration due to a particular theme or topic. Maybe their pet just died, so any mention of Animal Death is out. Maybe they are really tired of a particular ship, or are narrowing down for a rarepair. On AO3, there's a section in the filter bar for excluding tags (see below, boxed in blue). Readers can eliminate what they don't want to see, which is wonderful! They can select exactly what they want; not every fic is for every reader. Generously tag, so readers can be selective!

[image ID, copied from ALT: the Archive of Our Own filter bar, with the Exclude section boxed in with blue lines. End ID.]
Still unsure how to tag your work? Or stuck on other aspects, like ratings and warnings? The Fanfic Author's Guide to Metatext (As Used on Ao3) by Eiiri is an incredible, in-depth explanation of everything contained within the metatext (tags+warnings) block on an AO3 fic. I — this event's mod — use this text as part of my determining for rating guidelines, and I have found it extremely helpful for tagging my own works. View in full on tumblr and AO3 at these links
full text in post:

AO3 version, from which you can download as a pdf, epub, or other format:
https://archiveofourown.org/works/30986561/chapters/76535018
Additionally, this event requires certain tags be honored and present as needed, primarily common warnings or hot topics. See the rules post for more information. These tags at least need to be present in any promo post, though tagging the fic itself is always good practice. After all, tags are like the ingredient label of a fic.
Still not sure what to tag and want more inspiration? This post from @/insanitysilver has great links to further help, as well as an example of a tagged fake fic!

~
Have a question not answered above? Is there something important I missed? Want to see a post about tagging for Tumblr, Twitter, or another site specifically? Start a discussion in the replies and reblogs! Thanks for participating, and good luck with your wip!

I am so fucking proud of you! May I ask how your group project ended up going?
Thank you!!!
Honestly yeah I have tea, let's spill.
Under a cut for long math drama because WOW that a whole thing
Alright, so for anyone who missed it, the group project assignment was fairly simple. It was literally just pick an article about mathematical modeling (he suggested using covid 19 as a topic), read it, present our findings to our class. Four people in my group, 10 minute long at most presentation, could have all probably be done in 30 minutes, right? We started this March 20th and it was due April 10th, today.
I picked the article, sent it to my group partners, they were like "yeah sure that works". I set up a word document through office 365 which we all have access to through our school that we could all just put our notes in and I put my part in March 20th. And then I took a whole bunch of cold medication because that was when I was sick.
Then no one did anything. I emailed them again reminding them, hey, we do gotta do this April 5th. The one girl did hers that day. The guy in my group did his April 7th. I also made a powerpoint at that point because I was like "I am not just talking to the camera here, I need a prop". (I get camera shy and do a lot better if I have props.)
The other girl in my group? The last email I got from her was never. She never replied to a single one of my emails. We talked in class once in a breakout room, where I said "I will email you all, I have no voice and am very sick and it's probably easier to just use email" and she was like, "Yeah, sounds good." So to be clear, she knew I was going to email her.
I get to class today and the guy in my group is not there. Okay, sure, fine, one of us can read his part. GirlA messages me in the zoom chat and is like "did GirlB ever send you anything?" and I have to be like, "No. I have a slide with just her name on it, do we want to just be petty and pause on it for a moment when we get there?" and she was like "Yeah tbh she didn't reply to any of our emails and do any work, what else do we do".
(Meanwhile we were talking about grades and GirlB asks the instructor why he never gave her a time slot to do one of our quizzes. It was a take home quiz. He said that SEVERAL times in class but I suspect she isn't actually there a decent amount, she just opens the zoom link and does other things. But our classes are recorded. Watch the recording at least?)
And then GirlB messages me. At 7:25pm. And says, "I sent you my notes."
My class, I will tell anyone who doesn't know, is 6:30pm to 9:30pm. We were in class. Other people were presenting, and I'm frantically adding things to the powerpoint presentation that I made. AND she somehow didn't actually change the online version of the powerpoint (because I enabled editing for that too) so she had to send it to me.
And she sent it as a PDF.
Anyways, me and GirlA sounded like we knew what we were talking about. I fake being good at speaking well and she made a good joke that made her seem a little more relaxed. I will say that the other girl did send me a couple of diagrams which made things look nice, but she really struggled with presenting it and sounded very awkward.
Oh and the guy showed up literally in the middle of our presentation, which, you know, I'll take since I didn't have to present his part.
We sorta could tell that GirlB handed in a bunch of assignments technically late and her grade was probably Not Good so honestly the fact that we all got 100% on the presentation probably did her a lot of good.
And I swear to god, most of it is because people are impressed by powerpoint. GirlA, when we were gossiping, she thanked me for doing "all that work" on the powerpoint when, like, it took me 10 minutes because I downloaded a vaguely math-y looking powerpoint theme XD So, life lesson, a good looking powerpoint presentation will take you a long way.
#asks#answered#Anonymous#thanks for asking!#so many people who did their presentations just clearly did not understand what they were saying#if this were an english class they would all get docked for plagarism#because they had clearly copy and pasted large chunks of information and were just reading it

the drops of moonlight zine ebooks are... messy!
I'm going back and forth with whether or not I want to make a proper post about this, like the last one - I'm thinking no, because at this point there's only more he said/she said and a moral debate about whether or not the mods' conduct was justified (LOL). It's just not relevant to the original issues (mods' conduct, no communication, et al).
But, the zine's ebook versions were finally released on July 13th. I'm amazed!
I'm also amazed that, despite my sending in a request to be removed from the zine on June 24th, 2023, this did not happen and my work is still there. It's a PDF and the only one that wasn't getting a physical book. They had a whole year to hit backspace a couple of times, but couldn't be bothered.
Additionally, my contributor bio contains an error: I'm listed as liking "Reinako" (Rei and Minako, romantically linked, for those not in the know) and I did not make mention of any romantic relationships of any kind when I wrote up my bio. I noticed on Reddit that another contributor stated that they had the same type of error with their own bio. It begs the question of what other mistakes are lurking within these zines, and it's incredible that apparently copy/pasting what other people wrote is too difficult, let alone proofreading it over the last year.
Finally, the way contributors are credited is extremely problematic. The way they have it laid out, only visual artists are highlighted in a sort of honeycomb credit image (pictured above). Contributors of written works just get their bio in the digital only ebook zine. So if you wrote a story or an essay, screw you, I guess. Imagine putting all that time in on Word only to not even be listed in the table of fucking contents. There's also tons of wasted paper on a survey and zine demographic analysis. Why this didn't go purely digital to make room for more printed works is, as usual, unknown.
The layout is more or less what I expected when I originally counted up the totals for work distribution: just pages and pages and pages given to single people. It's crazed for a zine with limited print space.
The mods/organizers had to be begged and pleaded with to release these ebooks - people have been talking about it since at least February. They've been pinged numerous times for updates over the past months and ignored all of it. One mod's Discord profile straight up says not to message them about the zine. Only when someone reached out to a mod on Tumblr did they get any kind of response. It's beyond comprehension.
Despite all that, these people still want you to pay them more to ship your physical zines and whatever other goodies that have been languishing in the ether for two years.
Absolutely no respect here, for anybody. I still find it unbelievable.

“ Fiore dei Liberi’s patrons literally made up a story that they were descended from an African Muslim and a bisexual female knight - presumably just because they thought it sounded cool. According to chivalric legend the d’Este family of Ferrara was founded by the African knight Ruggiero (who converted to Christianity only shortly before his wedding); and Bradamante, a formidable knight who before her marriage enjoyed a passionate same-sex affair with the Spanish princess Fiordispina. Both prominently featured in the Orlando Furioso. Two of the Fiore manuscripts are dedicated to Niccolò III d'Este - from the wiki: "“Francesco Novati and D. Luigi Zanutto both assume that some time before 1409 he accepted an appointment as court fencing master to Niccolò III d'Este, Marquis of Ferrara, Modena, and Parma; presumably he would have made this change when Milan fell into disarray in 1402, though Zanutto went so far as to speculate that he trained Niccolò for his 1399 passage at arms. …The Ms. Ludwig XV 13 and the Pisani Dossi Ms. are both dedicated to Niccolò III d'Este and state that they were written at his request and according to his design.” “

The Battle of the Note-taking Apps - Who Will Come Out Victorious?
Review article by Mariz Lorraine | Edited 27 September 2023
Has the wave of digital notes have officially engulfed you and now you are stranded in the middle of a sea of note-taking apps? You convince yourself to do some research but take 2 scrolls on any social media app and you will then be recommended to choose either the free and Microsoft-based OneNote or the holy grail Goodnotes 5. As a loyal Goodnotes 5 user (buyer, let’s be frank) for 1 year now, I have some tea to spill about this blue app.
Key features
I, like many others, move to digital notes for a plethora of reasons, however nothing ever beats the feel of writing with pen and paper. Goodnotes 5 offers 4 types of pen styles that users can easily change with one tap of a button: Fountain pen, ball pen, brush pen, and highlighter. Organizing notebooks and pages in Goodnotes 5 can also be done easily with folders and page outlines so that your math notes are easily distinguishable from your english notes. Notability, Goodnotes 5’s main competitor, on the other hand, has a revolutionary feature called “study tape” that allows you to cover certain key terms on your notes that can be opened with a tap so that you can easily revise them. Truthfully, you can do this in Goodnotes 5 with a highlighter and the eraser but it is not as convenient as Notability’s study tape.
User-friendly
Just like most iOS apps, Goodnotes 5 is renowned for its user-friendliness. The easy-on-the-eye user interface combined with the easily tapped “New Notebook” or “Trash” buttons make the app superior to Microsoft OneNote’s hidden side tabs and dimmed pen options. Goodnotes 5 also offers tutorials and guides on how to maneuver the app when you just download it.
Customizability
Despite being as plain as a sheet of paper when it comes to user interface, Goodnotes 5 is completely customizable when it comes to note-taking. A new notebook’s cover can be changed either by choosing between pre-made notebook covers or by uploading your own covers. For decoration aficionados, Goodnotes 5 allows you to import sticker packs and custom page templates. I utilize these stickers to avoid drawing benzene structures in chemistry and to add cute characters around my boring calculus notes. Yet Goodnotes 5’s customizability is still inferior to its younger sibling, Goodnotes 6. Goodnotes 6 offers full customizability of folder icons and colors on top of the customizability offerings of Goodnotes 5. However, if the default blue folder icon is fine for you, Goodnotes 5 is still the better option.
Price
Unlimited access to Goodnotes 5 is priced at Rp.169,000 as a one-time cost for users. However, limited access to the app is free for all but users can only make up to 3 notebooks. Unlike Notability which is a subscription-based payment of Rp 89,000 monthly, Goodnotes 5’s one-time payment is better for users that want to test the waters first.
Importing files
My personal favorite feature offered by Goodnotes 5 is the importing PDFs feature as it allows me to easily annotate my digital coursebooks and do past papers. Importing PDFs and annotating them in Goodnotes 5 is not just eco-friendly since you won’t have to print pages and pages of paper, but it is also much more convenient since you can easily erase, highlight, and move elements around.
Exporting files
If you can share paper notes with your friends, you definitely can do so with digital notes as well. Users can easily share their notebooks to other Goodnotes 5 users to make it collaborative by sending them a short URL link or by sending an invitation to their email. But how about non-Goodnotes 5 users? Unfortunately you cannot have collaborative notebooks with non-Goodnotes 5 users but you can share PDF or JPEG versions through emails or messages. If you are like me and you are afraid of suddenly losing your files, Goodnotes 5 reassures us with the option to automatically backup your files to your preferred cloud between Google Drive, OneDrive and iCloud.
Technological advancements
Shifting to digital notes is a sign that the world is becoming more tech-reliant and softwares like Goodnotes 5 have to keep on advancing to follow the status quo. Optical Character Recognition (or more known as OCR) was added to Goodnotes 5 in 2019, allowing people’s messy handwriting to be identifiable by the app when you look for a certain term. As recent as January of this year, Goodnotes 5 added the voice recording feature so you can easily take notes as well as record your teacher’s voice to listen back to when revising. This feature is shared by both Notability and Goodnotes 5 however OCR is a Goodnotes 5 exclusive, so if you are looking for the app with the nerdiest feature out there, Goodnotes 5 is for you.
Conclusion
If you are confused about which note-taking app to use and are just looking for something easy-to-use and simple, Goodnotes 5 is definitely the best option for you. Its many pen types, countless premade page templates, unlimited storage, and the ability to import and annotate PDFs are the key points for beginners in the digital note space. Its similarity to physical note-taking with the many pen types and page sizes also make the shift from pen-and-paper notes to screen-and-stylus notes a lot easier.

Top E-Invites for Weddings and Events: Modern Solutions for Your Invitations
In the digital age, the way we communicate and celebrate has evolved dramatically. One of the latest trends that has gained significant popularity, especially in weddings and events, is the use of E-Invites—digital invitations that are sent electronically. E-Invites are not only eco-friendly but also convenient, cost-effective, and customizable. Whether you’re planning a grand wedding, a corporate event, or an intimate celebration, E-Invites offer a modern alternative to traditional paper invitations. Here’s a deep dive into the world of E-Invites and why they are becoming the preferred choice for many.

Visit For More Info- Oppvenuz
1. What Are E-Invites?
E-Invites, or electronic invitations, are digital versions of traditional event invitations. These invites are designed online and sent via email, social media platforms, or messaging apps like WhatsApp. E-Invites can be static designs (such as a beautifully designed image or PDF) or interactive (such as animations, videos, or clickable RSVP links).
With advancements in design software and online invitation platforms, E-Invites can be as detailed and personalized as their paper counterparts. Couples and event hosts can include not just the basic details of the event, but also engaging multimedia elements such as music, videos, and interactive maps for the venue.
2. The Advantages of Using E-Invites—digital invitations
1. Eco-Friendly
One of the most significant advantages of using E-Invites is that they are environmentally friendly. Traditional paper invitations require a lot of resources, from paper to ink and transportation. In contrast, E-Invites reduce the carbon footprint by eliminating the need for printing and mailing, making them a perfect choice for eco-conscious individuals and couples.
2. Cost-Effective
Weddings and large events often come with substantial costs, and traditional printed invitations can be expensive. Between the design, printing, and postage, the price of paper invitations can add up quickly, especially for a large guest list. E-Invites significantly cut down on these costs. While you may still invest in a professional design, you save on printing, paper, and shipping costs.
3. Instant Delivery
E-Invites are delivered instantly, which is ideal for last-minute events or if you need to send out a quick reminder or update. There’s no need to worry about delays in postal service or lost invitations. Plus, with tracking features, you can easily see who has opened and responded to the invite.
4. Customization and Personalization
Digital invitations offer more flexibility in terms of design and content. You can easily create personalized invites that reflect the theme of your event or your personal style. From choosing fonts, colors, and backgrounds to adding multimedia elements like videos or music, E-Invites allow for a high level of customization. You can also include additional information, such as links to your wedding website, directions to the venue, gift registries, or dress code suggestions.
5. Easy to Track RSVPs
One of the most challenging aspects of event planning is managing RSVPs. E-Invites simplify this process by providing easy-to-use RSVP links that guests can click to respond instantly. Many E-Invite platforms automatically update the guest list as responses come in, making it easier for hosts to keep track of who will be attending.
6. Less Risk of Invitations Being Misplaced
With traditional paper invitations, there’s always the risk of them being lost in the mail or misplaced by the recipient. E-Invites, sent via email or messaging apps, reduce this risk significantly. Guests can save the invite on their phones or computers and refer to it easily whenever needed.
3. Types of E-Invites
E-Invites—digital invitations come in various formats, giving hosts flexibility in how they want to present their invitation. Here are a few popular types:
1. Static E-Invites
These are simple, image-based invitations sent as a JPEG or PDF file. Static E-Invites can be designed using graphic design tools or online platforms, and they can be attached to an email or shared via social media and messaging apps. While they don’t have interactive elements, they are straightforward and easy to create.
2. Animated E-Invites
Animated E-Invites include movement or transitions within the design, often created using GIFs or short video clips. These invites are more dynamic and engaging, offering a visually appealing experience for the recipient.
3. Video E-Invites
Video E-Invites are becoming increasingly popular for weddings and milestone events. These invites are typically 30 to 60-second video clips that contain all the event details, paired with beautiful visuals and music. Video invites can be sent via email or shared through social media and messaging platforms like WhatsApp.
4. Interactive E-Invites
Interactive E-Invites allow recipients to interact with the invitation in some way. These may include clickable links for RSVPs, maps to the venue, gift registry information, or even embedded event schedules. This format is ideal for events that require guests to engage with additional resources or information.
4. Popular Platforms for Creating E-Invites
Creating an E-Invite doesn’t require expert design skills, thanks to numerous online platforms that offer pre-designed templates and easy-to-use tools. Some popular platforms include:
Canva: Known for its user-friendly interface, Canva offers a variety of customizable invitation templates for weddings, parties, and corporate events. Users can create both static and animated invites.
Paperless Post: This platform specializes in digital invitations, offering elegant and professional designs for weddings and other formal events. Paperless Post also provides RSVP tracking and guest list management features.
Evite: Evite is a popular option for casual events like birthday parties and get-togethers. It offers a wide range of customizable templates and allows users to track RSVPs easily.
Greetings Island: This free platform allows users to create E-Invites quickly using pre-designed templates. Invitations can be downloaded or shared directly through email or messaging apps.
5. Tips for Designing E-Invites
When designing an E-Invite, it’s essential to keep the following tips in mind to ensure your digital invitation is effective and attractive:
Keep it Simple: While it’s tempting to include lots of details and visuals, simplicity is key. Make sure the essential information—date, time, venue, and RSVP details—is clear and easy to read.
Match the Theme: Align the design of your E-Invite with the theme or color scheme of your event. This adds cohesiveness and gives guests a sense of what to expect.
Test Before Sending: Always test your E-Invite on different devices to ensure it looks good across platforms. This is especially important for video or animated invites.
Conclusion
E-Invites—digital invitations offer a modern, efficient, and eco-friendly alternative to traditional paper invitations. With their many benefits—including cost-effectiveness, instant delivery, and customization options—they are ideal for weddings, corporate events, and personal celebrations. Whether you opt for a simple design or a high-tech, interactive invite, E-Invites provide a convenient way to invite guests while keeping the planet—and your wallet—in mind. As digital trends continue to grow, E-Invites are sure to become a staple in event planning for years to come.

Okay! Lets talk patterns! I've finished revamping the PDFs for this sampler, and I want to share the changes I made--
[Image IDs: two versions of the same section of a spiral galaxy cross-stitch pattern. The one on the left has a black background and colored squares with semitransparent symbols, while the one on the right has a white background, colored squares with black or white symbols, and line numbers.]
The original Space Sampler PDF was from 2016, and though I still adore the design itself, the PDF was really showing its age (and my inexperience!).
The first version was made by hand in GIMP, and was missing a LOT of standard pattern attributes: it didn't have line numbers, center marks, or overlap shading, and the color key was only at the end of the PDF, not at the bottom of every page. For this specific pattern, the center lines and overlap shading weren't a big deal-- the box layout kept things pretty well aligned-- but having to flip over to the key every time got very annoying.
Also, all the symbols were overlaid at about 50-75% opacity; this worked fine for me, the person who'd designed the thing and already knew which colors went where, but I imagine it'd be very annoying for someone with poor eyesight trying to differentiate everything.
[Image ID: a pixelated row of a cross-stitch key. An 'M'-shaped symbol is labelled 'Red, 900']
Another big change: when I made this pattern I didn't know that DMC threads had official color names, so I just made up some. For example, in the original pattern DMC 900, "Burnt Orange Dark" is referred to simply as "Red".
All of those changes-- the color names, grid numbers, overlap shading, etc.-- were possible to fix because I now own some specialty pattern-making software*, but I didn't use to. I'm certain there were free versions around back then, but I didn't even know to look for them. So I think I did... alright, I suppose, for what I knew!
The other BIG change: there's a Pattern Keeper version now! I'm slowly trying to update all the full-stitches-only patterns to have Pattern Keeper versions. The Pride Flag Planets all do, and the two most recent dinosaurs, and a bunch of others.
Final change: the original pattern asked people not to sell stitched versions without permission, but I've changed my mind on that. Here's the new text (under the header of 'things you can do with your pattern'):
[Transcription: Sew up a sampler and sell it at a craft show, or a bazaar, or online— but only in small, individual quantities (fewer than 100 stitched copies), and only with credit given to the artist.]
This is the permission I want for all my patterns, so as I update older patterns I'm adding this text in, too. If you'd like to stitch any of my stuff for a craft fair, or an auction, or Etsy, you officially have my blessing.
If you've ever bought the Space Sampler (ever! from 2016 - now) and would like a copy of the new files, shoot me a message on Etsy and I'll send them your way, no questions asked.
Thanks for reading! Here's to another seven years of stitching. :)
*For this one, WinStitch! WinStitch and I have an occasionally-turbulent relationship, but right now we're all good. Great software, a billion features, and Jeff the creator is super nice. 👍

The last photos I took of the Space Sampler were seven years ago... a lot has happened since 2016, but my first pattern still holds a special place in my heart :)
[space sampler tag here] [pattern here]
#cross stitch#chit chat#space sampler#next up: redoing the math sampler!#well actually the REAL next thing up is to show y'all the results of the Funny Cross Stitch survey...#so keep your eyes open for that 👀#✌️#winstitch positivity tag
