Hey, I haven't been around in this tag for a good while, but are you guys holding up ok?

Ah, she still remembers the first months in the barracks.

There were two twins that hated her specially. They were the kind of popular bitches that acted differently when the Lieutenant or Adam weren't around. Those kinds of people that started the pranks for the new girls and that the rest seemed to fear a bit.

She still remembers the first week, they destroyed her uniform and she had to attend the trainings in her pajamas. Embarrassed in front of everyone, and the fault of not dressing up according to the rules fell onto her.

Almost no one stopped to listen to her first, because she had no voice. Everyone always had the time to be faster than her and come up with an excuse because they could speak.

Then in the public dining room.

At first, she stood uncertainly with her food tray, looking around the room for a welcoming group or a friendly face who might gesture for her to join them, but no one did. Each time she moved to take an empty seat, she was told, “Oh, we’re saving that.” The other girls ignored her like she wasn’t even there—until she eventually found an empty table and sat by herself. Then she became the center of attention, as people snuck looks at her, their expressions an array of amusement, malice, and pity.

Somehow Neo always ended up alone, even in a crowd.

Granted, she wasn’t much of a conversationalist, but she was a great listener. So she listened. She forced down the tasteless food while really feasting on gossip about her fellow Exorcists. She heard about how one of them still slept with her stuffed cat and wet her bed every night and how another had an older boyfriend in Halo City. There was another that was the girl who cried herself to sleep every night, and Neo wasn’t the only one who hated her.

There were two that were supposedly a thing again (yay?), the third time they had broken up and gotten back together again this month. They were so romantic and cute together, but would they ever last?

She didn't fit even when she tried to not close herself to the rest. But she learnt how to listen and withhold interesting information.

One night, there was another that tried to cut her hair while she was asleep, but she's such a light sleeper, that it didn't take Neo long to wake up and react by mere reflex. Taking the scissors the other carried, and slashing half of her face.

For being a bitch.

...she really received a correctional beating for that one. But well, they started calling the other girl 'Scarface' for a time until she healed, so it was funny while it lasted.

It was almost nostalgic to think about it, but, on the other hand, it was sad.

She always had that seed of rebellion in her, but was she really that bad? Or did her circumstances just make her worse?

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again
