So as some of you may know I went to watch Macbeth this saturday and I now finally have the time to write a proper review so here we go!
Before I start I'm going to be honest and say that I don't know shit about theater or Shakespeare and I am subjective because I love David Tennant lol. The play was in the Donmar Warehouse, which is a very tiny theater (I'm not quite sure how many seats there are but it couldn't have been more than a hundred, correct me if wrong), which is great, because you're really close to stage and the actors. The backstage isn't right behind the stage, so actors had to pass by the seats to leave. This also means that if you are sitting at the end of the row, actors pass just a few inches from you. I was sitting at the last seat of the 3rd row, and David Tennant passed right by me like 3 times, it was great :). Because the stage is literally just a small white block, there wasn't a lot of decor, but I didn't really mind that. The costumes were also pretty minimal (I absolutely loved lady Macbeth's dress), but still looked regal. I usually don't love simple costumes in theater (this might just be because of all the very mediocre plays I went to with school over the years, because there is a pretty cheap theater in my city, which my high school loves to send us to for at least one very pretentious and long play per year), but these had like the right vibe, you know? It might also just be for the best because let's be honest, Shakespearian clothes, although pretty in theory, can sometimes look a bit silly in a modern setting and I would have had to laugh if David Tennant was having a breakdown in pantaloons (I genuinly don't know if pantaloons are from the right era please don't kill me I have no knowledge of historical clothing except for tiaras because I watch someone on tiktok talk about tiaras. I also once read a fic that was supposed to be smut but was like 95% describing the regency clothes that were being removed. You do, however, get the idea.) I had seen a post about the blood only being used at evening performances or something, or maybe I remember it wrong, but that wasn't the case, because I went to an afternoon play, and peope were enthousiastically bleeding out on stage. All the actors were great, I had no idea what they were saying because English isn't my first language, and I can't always understand it (without subtitles because I can't hear shit and accents are difficult), let alone ye olde English, but I could understand what was going on by their faces and intonation, so that was convenient. Also I read the Wikipedia summary beforehand because I have self knowledge.
So I thought it was very good and also I almost got stabbed because the room was small and the swords long but if I have to die I would like it to be because I got stabbed by David Tennant during Macbeth so that's fine. I hope everyone who's yet to see it has fun! Congrats to everyone who made it through this long ass text, I apologize, I literally cannot stick to the point. I hope you enjoyed the detour through my high school theater story lol

Judge Dee's Mystery
So nice 💚
***
Where are those antis calling Mo Ran a rapist for frequenting brothels at 15 and also a victim of rape because he was having sex at 15?
Historical context be damned, let's apply XXI century's age of consent and moral codes in ancient fantasy China.
***
I love this place, but I would probably die here in half an hour.
Even if there are no alligators here, there are 100% undead things in this water.
***
He's still messing around with that Cao woman, which is eh, but here is a nice shot of his face to make up for it.
***
So, it is the shopkeeper.
He's dead, then. I thought he'd just run off with the valuables because of debt.
***
LMAO, were you drunk?
***
I love his face so much 💙
***
Wait, they are leaving?
And he hasn't told her?
LMAO, coward 🤣🤣 Anyway, Ma Rong will be pleased.
***
LMAO, oh, Ma Rong 😅
Girl, I'm trying to be on your side, but you are being beyond stupid.
***
Her stupid ass told her they were leaving before he could, smh.
***
I am really not a fan of these caricatures of female characters.
Plus, this one is repetitive. We have already had one crazy lady in a Halloween costume living in a crumbling house involved in a murder. A second one is too much.
***
Oh my god.
Please communicate like adults 💀💀 I couldn't be further from shipping them because I can't stand her and they are still pissing me off with this will-they-won't-they nonsense.
JUST FUCKING TALK.
***
Oh, Ma Rong 🙄
He's just not into you!
Yeah, she's an idiot and yeah, I know a lot of people who watched this hated her but I like her because she is the only woman on this show who feels real. The rest are just approximations of what some writer thinks women are like. They all feel like cardboard cutouts, including the Instagram Empress.
***
Wait, so the boys from the barrack tried to rape the crazy lady and murdered the shopkeeper when he tried to protect her?
***
So, not the boys, but this second crazy person?
Something is off.
My money is on the barracks commander doing/hiding something.

Niche interesting-to-me-and-idk-who-else sort of free-form ramble/discussion on 1901 Castiel’s fashion to follow:
okay so 1901 Castiel isn’t very height-of-fashion-trends 1901, HOWEVER I don’t mind that it’s a bit more late 1890s, since the average person doesn’t just suddenly change all their clothes once the decade turns over, and (if we’re going by the actress’ age) the vessel would be like.. 20? at the time. I found a handful of fashion plates, ranging from 1893 to 1898, which look similar in silhouette/cut to what they put Castiel in. This one in particular, I think, probably was a strong influence/strongly resembles the coat the put her in, down to the darts and the pockets: https://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O606532/fashion-plate/
They put Benjamin in something very similar, if not the same, so I imagine that they just modified Castiel’s to make it double-breasted [edit: JUST KIDDING it’s not double-breasted? just looks it bc it’s pulled over asymmetrically] (these ones are double-breasted: https://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O606621/fashion-plate/ ; https://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O606507/fashion-plate/ ; https://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O606598/fashion-plate/ ; here’s another one with a jaunty hat from 1896, titled “Latest styles in hunting costumes” https://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O606538/fashion-plate/ ‘ here’s some actual photos, it looks like, of coats from 1899. the sleeve is much slimmer than what they did on the show https://libmma.contentdm.oclc.org/digital/collection/p15324coll12/id/8800 ). some of these other examples, though, have a clearly contrasting skirt, and I honestly like that better. Also, for the period, the hat would have been worn square on the head, NOT at a jaunty angle lmao. But like... okay at least they had them in hats lmao, as would have been proper for the time.
I do want to give props to the costuming department, because it does look like they at least did SOME research, and I can see their references to the late Victorian era, if not an exact time, even if the fit is not stunning. Like, I would have nipped in the sleeve a bit more (you can see above that the sleeves do go fitted thru the elbow to wrist, and they didn’t do that which is why she looks so chunky from the 3/4 angle), and done something else with the skirt, since having the skirt in the same sort of suiting fabric for an unembellished tan-on-tan look is... not very stunning. also they altered it so it was long, but with an asymmetrical/cutaway kind of opening? That’s odd. And I think makes the tone-on-tone look weirder, bc clearly it’s a COAT coat, not just a like dress bodice made to look coat-like. Benjamin’s, in contrast, works a bit better bc it looks like it goes no farther than, like, mid-thigh? knee? I saw some long coats, but like the front would meet in the middle and the hem ended just above the skirt hem (more like ankle-length), not be full floor-length like the skirt would be. Which makes sense, you’re not going to launder your coat as much, it makes less sense to make your coat foor-length where it’ll drag on the floor & in the dirt and through everything. Actually, in the full-length shot from the show you can see the skirt & the coat (rip) darkened at the hem from damp lmao.
Like, yes, bodices would match skirts as like suit sets, but the thing is that Castiel’s top looks to be more of a coat than, say, a bodice of a suit set, so it makes less sense for me to have it match. Also wish they’d done a different design for Castiel, because Castiel and Benjamin look to be in the same/similar kind of look, and idk... it just makes it feel a bit too mass-produced. Like. they cooould have just happen to have the same kind of look. But they’re not really fashionable for the era either, especially not in that color/fabric, so it doesn’t suuuper make sense to me. Another also is, wish they’d put like a tie/cravat on her. Could have been a pop of color that hearkens to his current tie. I just feel like it’s missing a little.. something so it’s not just tan on tan.
Anyway I was digging around for colorized fashion plates, and so here’s some other ones in the rough period (1890-1900) that I like and kind of wish they’d done more instead of just like tan-on-tan:
(the attribution for the above I found said 1899) like I think a black skirt would have been nice with a coat like this, it would have looked smart, and would have hearkened to his suit he wears under the coat. Yes it’s not a long coat, but.. idk I think this works.
Another alternative
(attributed just as “late Victorian”?) like I think this one’s great, it looks like a plaly on menswear, so you have a little something that even looks similar to a modern tie, and it’s a bit more interesting than just unembellished tan on tan
this one looks like she’s wearing a tie/cravat kind of deal, so again, modern tie reference. The lapels can be adapted, and the embellishment on the skirt give the illusion of a long coat without it being an actual long coat.
I mean. I don’t mind the long coat, or even necessarily the fabric (though to my eye the fabric looks a biiit heavy to make the skirt out of also)
Here’s an extant suit in about the same color: https://thedreamstress.com/2016/11/rate-the-dress-tailored-details-in-1900/
but I think what makes it work is the like... shorter top, embellished skirt, and like. better fit sleeves lmao. Also, again, Castiel’s isn’t a suit set, so like that, plus the ill-fitting sleeves, really makes it kind of unflattering? Especially at the 3/4 angle, the way the sleeve blocks against her little bustle/bustle pad. Which is a shame, because from the front, it looks like they either have her in proper period underpinnings, or faked it well enough. edit: I do also want to say she looks rather.. deflated. Like, the fashionable silhouette of this era wasn’t achieved solely by corsets & lacing lmao, it was also done with padding, esp in the area between the bustline and the shoulder to really smooth out that area & fill it out, and the sleeves. And like, her coat clearly isn’t padded where it should be to really create that fashionable late-Victorian silhouette (and neither is Benjamin).
This is really roughly edited, but just imagine if we’d gotten a cute little neck thing, and a black skirt, and lmfao.. a coat that wasn’t fckn... floor-length (like, even just a midi-length like his modern coat, but worn open-ish towards the bottom or whatever):
Honestly even just a tiny. boop of blue at the collar is a HUGE improvement. Like, c’mon, it was perioddddd. Pls.
#txt#if you read all of this props to you#if you have thoughts PLEASE let me know!! would love to talk historical costuming and or just costuming in general#I don't like. hate the cut of the coat they put Castiel in. the asymmetrical esp that long doesn't seem to show up in any fashion plates#not that I've seen yet#but I'm like. hey *shrug* I'm willing to go with it for that little like.. hint of it kicking out#but like. tan on tan? and to the floor like that?#also clearly her sleeves aren't padded. and they should be#and they also should be more fitted in the forearm 8) that would have improved a lot#like. a blue neck thing. I don't know what the period term would be. but it's period AND it's cute!!!! ;-;#(oh also. Lily Sunder's top is too big/not tailored in the neck which is awkward#and something abt her skirt isn't cut right in the waist either. like it's too much bulk in the waist and the Victorians#were all about reducing bulk in the waist area#so much so that walking skirts would have very narrow waistbands to reduce as much bulk as possible)

From the studio that brought you “I can’t find good Byler fics in the ao3 tag”, comes:
"The Definitive Byler fic rec list"
Literally no one asked for this but because I spent the majority of last year (...and 2019, and 2018...) reading byler fics and coping with life, I thought I’d make a list of some of my absolute favorites.
The other day I was basically starving for some byler fics and the angel @magicalfairy provided me with some of her faves so I thought I’d do the same, because I love reading, and I love all of these fics and I appreciate their writers💗 And fic writers in general, come on!
- This is a mix of long works and one-shots/short stories. - Everything is mostly fluff with a tad of angst and a lot of internalized homophobia conflict. - Every fic is completed, except for the ones I mention that they are not. - I try my best to lay out the stories in a way that I won’t spoil you the plot but also warning you of some stuff you might don’t like. Either way, all of these fics are correctly tagged by their respective authors/owners, so read at your own risk. For better understanding, in between brackets I denote Rating, Words and quantity of Chapters. - I feel like I should clarify, none of these are narrated in the singular first person. None of that “And I told him...”, no.
Long fics
a dream always the same (T, 99k, 35 chapters) What happened in those few weeks between the Battle of Starcourt and the Byers leaving Hawkins. Literally a satisfying and very needed fill in of season three, with a good dose of Mike’s thoughts and conflict. Mike’s characterization is specially amazing in this one. The writing style is amazing and I know the author put everything into making it historically accurate, and it was really sweet. You probably read it, it’s by the amazing sevensided here on Tumblr🧡
Spring Break (T, 120k, 14/15 chapters) The slowburn of my dreams. Lots of internalized conflict and conflict with each other. Conflict within the Party (uhh kind of), conflict with Mike and Will. Byers family has moved and the kids are visiting! Chaos. Characterization is on point. Yeah, I know it’s unfinished, but the fourteenth chapter actually serves as a pretty nice ending.
This is where it starts (M, 148.8k, 24 chapters) Aged up characters. The Party is in college and Will disappears again, but now it’s different. Mike knows he didn’t vanish from thin air, and the discovery he and the Party end up making is pretty insane. Mystery solving/fantasy/third dimension, throw in a bit of D&D and Mike realizing some shit, and you get this marvelous fic. It’s a breath of fresh air. The world building is definitely one of the elements that stands out the most, because it’s very nicely described, it sounds like a dream and it’s completely immersive. Absolute gem of a fic.
there’s a Starman waiting in the sky (M, 30.6k, 8 chapters) Do I need to say anything? Will is out there living his best life and Mike realizes that wow, umm, maybe his best friend looks a bit too nice with that costume... and wait, is he getting horny? It’s actually really fun and sexy.
The Evening Speaks (T, 23k, 7 chapters) In where Mike is a late-night college radio host and Will is the art student that stays up till late to catch up with Wheeler on the Mic. They flirt through songs y’all, this one is really sweet.
heads or tails? (E, 24k, 3 chapters) Aged up characters. I know most people don’t enjoy sex in fics and with specific characters but this one is insanely well written. It’s a slowburn that commits to the tension and with every word you are grasping and anticipating their next move. I think you can find the author here on Tumblr as yousaidyes🧡
The Man of Average (M, 56.7k, 5/? chapters) Aged up characters. No but you don’t understand, the writing here is absolute gourmet. The story is exciting as well, it’s super interesting. Weirdly enough, for being very aged up characters, they are well characterized but they don’t feel like teenagers. They are naturally Mike and Will. The author really captured Mike and Will’s essence. I know, it’s unfinished and it’s updated very rarely, but this is the typical fic you can’t believe someone just posted on the internet for free. I will say though, I think it’s definitely not for everyone. Read at your own risk.
Heartstrings (E, 82.8k, 24/? chapters) Aged up characters. By the same author of The Man of Average. A collection of memories, the road to Mike and Will’s happy ever after. And fucking hell!!!!! You’ll cry and get angry, you’ll cheer for them, then you’ll want to crash their faces together because god dammit you love each other!!! But yeah, same thing here. The writing and the way the story is laid out as a nonlinear narrative is brilliant. And I also think this is one of the best Will versions I’ve read. The author might as well be the og creator of this two characters tbh. You can find the author here as mylesimeblr🧡
Sinners behind the walls (T, 1.5k, 1/1) And because I can’t stop recommending this author, a little thing of Mike tormenting himself but also being too deeply committed to Will.
The Red Envelope series (T/E, 167K, two completed works) Something happens that Will thought was impossible and from there, pure drama and romance. Anything by this author has the potential to become your absolute favorite fic, but this series in particular is amazing. I doubt that any of you haven’t read this, but it doesn’t hurt to put it in this list. I’m pretty sure the author is serendipitous-magic on Tumblr🧡
A New Fight series (T, 91k, two completed works, one WIP) And finally the Star Wars AU that we all needed. But this isn’t your typical “Mike is Han”, “Will is Leia” and “El is Luke”, it’s way more interesting than that, and the author has appropriated the Star Wars world like no other. I’ll admit I’m not a 100% fluent in SW lore but this is amazing to me either way. This author is also on Tumblr, tea-for-one-please🧡
- Yes, most of these are (if not all), in a way, canon compliant/canonverse/canon continuation into fanon. (In a way)
One-shots and short stories
Sundae for Two, Please (G, 4.8k) Steve being the supportive friend and older brother these kids collectively need. (not Jonathan erasure, we love him). Steve is very sweet himself, and this little cute thing through his POV is gorgeous. Yes, it’s byler.
Backstage (T, 10k, 2/2) Jonathan, you forgot to mention to Will how hot your new band’s guitarist is, dude. Now he’s hyperventilating and weirdly flirting with him in the corner. Background Stonathan because why not.
102 Peach Street (G, 3.8k) Established relationship, but not only that, they are married :’’))) PURE fluff. Extreme fluffiness. Diabetes.
sweatshirts and bottled up feelings (T, 3.2k) Or, Mike thinks that the sweatshirt Will wears looks insanely good on him. And kitchens are for lovers.
kiss it better (T, 16.3k) Basically one of the best character studies of a few precise moments of Mike and Will’s relationship and feelings.
will wonders ever cease (T, 11.3k) #i ship will and happiness. Omfg what a beautiful piece of fanfic. Will centric, this kid really deserves all the good in the world.
The Calm After the Storm (T, 1.6k) Tooth rotting fluff, boyfriends in love. Boyfriends being lazy, cuddling, love words, kisses. Boys loving each other’s company... Basically, Mike and Will in their element. What more can you ask for?
neither of us ready to let go (T, 4.8k) That scene from season three, but a bit of a fix it.
Still in love (G, 1k) Domestic, married life au fluff. Y’all, I’m a sucker for established Byler, even if I can’t find many fics with it. But this is very sweet. It takes place in 2020, but I don’t think there are any mentions of the COVID-19 crisis that I remember.
I Nver Find Out ‘Til I’m Head Over Heels (G, 12.5K) Classic 5+1 fic. If you haven’t read it, where have you been? This is your moment. In where Mike keeps inviting Will to the school dances and Will thinks it’s just a joke until he realizes it’s not.
Before You’re Gone (T, 5.9k) Will is leaving Hawkins and Mike thinks this is a great moment for a confession. This one I discovered last friday, thank you friend @magicalfairy 💗
You’re weird Wheeler (M, 4.5k) Mike unintentionally starts a tradition of going to each other to talk about their sexual encounters just after they finish. Will keeps getting more explicit with the details he shares, and he makes his best friend interested. This one is really fun y’all.
Out-Of-Town Friends (N/R, 4.6K) It’s not rated. I haven’t re- read it but I’d say it would probably fall in a T rating. So cute!! Will has new friends and sneaks off every friday and the Party doesn’t know where he is going, so Mike decides to follow him and is surprised.
Snowed Under (G, 1.3k) By the same author of The New Fight series. Mike is spending christmas by himself in college because a snowstorm hits Chicago and Nancy can’t drive to see him, but then he has a surprise visitor. Ahhh just a lil sweet holiday fic. Super cute.
you love me anyway series (T, 7.1k, three completed works) Literally just the cutest thing ever. Established Byler. Will loves to take pictures and he loves taking pictures of Mike. It’s adorable.
you wanna be friends forever (i can think of something better) (T, 9k) This one is so amazing. So. Amazing. From Will’s POV, my kid deserves the world and he gets it.
okay not to be okay (T, 4.9k) Mike is a bit sad but then everything is okay.
can’t hold out forever (G, 18.4k) Y’all!!!!! 5+1 sweetness. Mike has been falling in love since kindergarten. And it’s long af, you’ll enjoy it.
even if it takes forever (G, 1.3k) College short AU, they miss each other, they love each other, they promise all to each other. It is sappy y’all.
clear as day (N/R, 18.4K, 4 chapters) It’s not rated, but I’d say it falls in the T category. Strangers to friends to lovers. And also, everyone is pretty gay; we have our dynamic trio Mike, Max and El as disaster lesbians (and gay). Will works at the library and he is also gay. Lucas and Dustin and Will are the best friends we needed. It’s very sweet and the Party is kind of formed here!
I went overboard with the one-shots, so you must have realized how much I love long one-shots and I favor them over long works lmao but they are all amazing!!! If it’s on this list, I probably read it at 2 am, sobbing in my bed. So. Hope you enjoy it☺️🧡
#these are my all time favorites that i think you should read#it’s a good start#i've been putting together this post since friday#and i just realize that#apparently all of these have angst in some degree#who would i be if I didn’t read angst ajsjsj#but funny thing is that i try not to —but then the best stories are basically made of it#anyway#most of these are what I consider fandom classics#everyone in the byler fandom is so talented at writing😫💗#is stonathan the actual ship name? lmao#byler#stranger things#byeler#byler fic rec#fic rec#ao3#st#st.txt#me.txt#long post#stranger things fic

Imagine Pedro being teased and questioned about how close he is with you, Gal’s adopted sister, and trying his best to hide the fact that you are actually dating.
“So, Gal, I am going to direct this question mostly at you but of course anyone can get to answer. I actually wanted to know your opinion about it.” Conan said, as Gal herself nodded her head with a smile.
“Oh, please, with pleasure.”
“There have been several photos, and I do not mean just from paps or professionals. Even you on your personal instagram posted a few. Which, to say the least, broke the internet as we all saw.”
“Yeah uh truth is my instagram wasn't working for several hours afterwards and I thought it was just me but then I kept asking others and got the same reply from everyone! Turns out, we caused a blackout of sorts.” Gal laughed, admitting to it before looking away in embarrassment while the rest of the cast nodded their heads as if almost giving her a a playful glare, even through the screen of the computer.
“And the reason behind that, who would have thought, a couple photos!” Jimmy nodded his head “Your sister, your adopted sister (Y/n), came to visit you on the set of Wonder Woman 1984. It was, for lack of better words, a historic moment not just for instagram who crashed because of the popularity of the photos but also for comic book fans worldwide. It was the closest we could get to a Marvel and DC crossover.”
“You say that because she was in her costume in some of them yeah?” Gal asked with a bright smile, always loving to talk about her little sister as Conan nodded his head “Yes, it was (Y/n)'s idea and everyone knows it, I can never say no to my little sister. Plus, she was right; we had so much fun fooling around in our costumes! I had more fun than I've ever had on a set of a movie before. And, yes, I almost always enjoy the movies I'm in, but this one- this one was truly something else! We- almost everyone, I think, played along as we acted as our characters and filmed some scenes just for laughs. I really really hope they make it into the bloopers somehow.”
“So you're planning on taking down youtube next, I see. I see.” the host nodded his head with playfully narrowed eyes, seeming all suspicious and making everyone laugh.
“No, no I swear! I don't want to!” she said in between laughter “We all had so much fun and an amazing time on set and in front of the cameras, playing superheroes that it would be incredible for the fans to see! It's- Really, it is kind of an unofficial crossover that should make it to the internet at least!”
“I'll have to-” Patty spoke up “I'll have to give it to Gal, she is right. (Y/n) had this amazing idea and creative at the same time because she had a small plot in her mind and lines and everything concerning the set. We all did a small setup and filmed it and, honestly, it came out to be real good!”
“Patty is no even exaggerating and Gal is certainly right. We had so much fun filming that small crossover, and (Y/n)'s ideas were brilliant! Fans will definitely love it!” Kristen said in addition.
“She truly is an incredibly talented, smart and creative person, besides an absolute darling. So kind to everyone and sweet, we all couldn't get enough of her. And-” Patty raised a finger “I will say it here once more because Gal has heard it before: the fastest we've filmed a scene in this movie. And it was all thanks to how professional she was, it was truly incredible!”
“Well, I can't ever deny it, my little sister is the biggest star there is! Oscars or other awards aside, she proves how great she is on every set on her own!”
“And you are definitely her biggest fan, as we all can clearly tell.” Conan pointed out with a small laugh “Speaking of, I think we do have someone who could only be described as your main rival on that sweet stop of being your sister's number one fan. Someone who hasn't been shy about expressing his admiration about (Y/n) but who has yet to utter a word.” Conan looked back up from his papers and said someone almost felt his heart jump in fear and nervousness, hoping that at least nobody noticed that he was indeed being silent for a reason “Pedro, you're being uncharacteristically quiet about this one, especially for something that caused Instagram to crash within thirty minutes of the photos being uploaded. I'm not- I'm not used to this from you. Come on, talk to me. Say what's on your mind.”
“This is oddly- I'm getting strange deja vu vibes here. Must be cause of that one time I visited a therapist. Long story short, it was only one session for me and about hm at least 25 for him. I heard he's still going to a therapist now.” he shrugged casually, earning laughter from everyone. He chuckled slightly himself, glancing over the screen of his computer while trying his best to keep anything from showing on his face even more so his smile, rubbing the back of his neck.
“I mean-” he cleared his throat “Ah man, what else can I say? The ladies have spoken, and they've said exactly what- I believe anyone that gets the opportunity to work with (Y/n) or watch her movies would agree she is one of a kind.” he shrugged softly with an adorable smile “Besides, it feels like anything I say is just going to be used against me, so I- I better keep on silently observing. That does seem like it's the safest option here.”
Pedro's laugh was more of a nervous if not awkward one, but he was pretty confident it was just no different to how he would usually laugh away questions he didn't want to answer in interviews. Most celebrities did the same, he wouldn't be the first nor the last, so he didn't expect Conan to insist any further. He didn't want to push his luck, he had been really successful (if not blessed after all these close calls) with all these online interviews to not have everything revealed by accident, so now especially with the current topic, he didn't feel like messing things up. He loved this privacy, he didn't want to lose it not yet, he wanted you and this all to himself for now. And he wanted the story of how you met, of how over that one month and a half on set he felt himself fall in love with you.
And yet... Yet, he was probably a weak man, a man who couldn't help but indulge even if he knew it could probably get him in trouble. You were worth it, though, you were worth all of it and as you were his weakest spot and so indulge he did. He slowly chewed on his lower lip and he so subtly looked over the screen of his computer.
His eyes fell on you, still splayed on his bed, book in one hand and steaming mug on the nightstand – your nightstand on your side of the bed, the thought of which made his heart flutter inside his chest – hair slightly messy, that oversized Mandalorian shirt on, which you'd gotten all excited amongst many many more fandom related toys a couple months ago and couldn't wait for him to see. A shirt which had, inevitably, ended up being taken off you barely ten minutes later starting from him stealing kisses and leading to the two of you making love till the very morning in between endless giggles. The pup you'd gotten – the both of you – not so long ago made a small noise drawing your attention for a short moment as you kept petting him, the both of you too tired to do anything else after an exhausting day of playing. Pedro couldn't complain, although he'd been a part of it he had mostly spent time filming everything even if you hadn't been the one to ask him to, he couldn't help it.
It was something that the both of you decided on and although you hadn't said it out loud, you both knew and at least Pedro hoped, that it was the next step, a very important one, in your relationship besides you moving in with him. To be responsible for another living being together was, if not a test, at least a way to see how well you could cooperate. And, if he could say so himself, you had been doing great so far.
“Good morning, darling. Here for morning kisses? Yes? Come up here.” your giggles were able to warm him more than the sunlight coming through the window “Ooooh someone really loves mommy, don't you?”
And then your words set his entire being alight. Or more specifically that one particular word.
“Well-” he stretched a bit, his arms finding your waist again to bring you closer and cuddle with you “Who doesn't love mommy in this house?” he couldn't help it as his smile turned into a lovestruck grin “Morning, mi amor.”
“Good morning, darling.” you pecked his lips “And don't worry, mommy loves daddy back, enough to make up for the rest of the world.”
As if reading his mind, you chose to look up from your book at him, smiling as you held his gaze for a good few seconds. So much love was evident, even in those few seconds, he could almost feel his own heart burst. Yet another reason for him to control his reactions from showing just how much on high on happiness and love he was. You shook your head, eyes wide as you heard Conan speak again, you playfully mouthed to him “Focus!”
As subtly as possible he tried to clear his throat and taking the mug of coffee that was beside his computer, he took a sip and decided to focus on it as much as he could. Until the subject changed, at least.
“...Wise man. I feel you, so don't worry I'll leave you to it.” if only he knew the big sigh of relief Pedro tried to hold back as Conan continued “It's the tactic I follow 99% of the time when I'm out with my wife, just smile and wave kind of thing. Alright-” he nodded his head in thought “Alright, well, let me ask you all something else. You keep saying in front of the cameras and talking about this small crossover, but I assume she must have been around for longer than that, yes?”
“Yes, yes she was there for at least a month, a month and a half I think. She was on vacation, after being done with filming, and she decided that before heading home that she'd come by and visit us. It was meant to be for a short period of time. She loved the place... the people, perhaps, how could I know for sure?” she shrugged not looking innocent in the least bit, earning a few laughs.
“Anyway-” she cleared her throat “And you see before she knew it, before we all did, one week turned into two turned into three and so on. It-” she chuckled “She was around on set and with us on all those beautiful locations we were in. And while we were all working and walking around with purpose and the need to finish this scene with so much pressure on- on our shoulders and she was just sitting around with a iced coffee or tea on her hand, sunglasses on and phone on the other hand looking she didn't have a single care in the world. It kind of made everyone a little bit jealous to be honest.”
“A little? Cause I sense that there's more than you're letting on, Gal. Come on, spill the tea.”
“Alright more than a little.” she laugh “I mean, it wasn't all the time, of course. Just the first couple days mostly but you can imagine how it was. It seemed like she did it on purpose sometimes.”
“Twistin' the knife even deeper, that's what she's best at. Oh I know!” Conan nodded his head “I'm actually afraid to invite her on the show because I fear how bad she'll roast me. Andy-” he laughed “Andy is the only one who has the most fun during those interviews.”
“I know right? Boy you tell me!” Gal exclaimed “That little shit. I adore her to no end but I really had the hardest of time when she was around. She just had to make comments on everything she could, especially when I was acting. I couldn't stop laughing sometimes, but nobody got mad at her. It was always my fault somehow!”
“I mean she's just so sweet, how could we be mad at her?” Patty added.
“She messed up so many of my scenes!” Gal pretended to be angry but her smile gave it away “But it's true, I couldn't even be mad at her. I don't get to see her that often, because of the work we both do, so I would give anything to have my sister with me like that every other chance I got. Even if I got all the blame for it, there's nothing I wouldn't do for her, you understand.”
“Aw that's- that's incredibly sweet, actually. It's- that's the exact opposite of me and my brother so no I can't really understand to be honest, but alright.” Conan laughed “Well, then, you really got your chance this time, right? You had the opportunity to spend all this time with her. When you were not working of course.”
“I...” Gal trailed off, her smile turning into a mischievous one but the rest of her expression trying to remain innocent, and failing at it because she truly wasn't even trying “Well, I would say yes. And I would agree with you. And I would even ramble about the wonderful two months I spent with my sister... If that had been the case. If I had really seen her for more than a week total, then yeah I would say that.”
“Wha- P-Pardon me?” Conan blinked in surprise “Didn't you j-just say your sister was with you on set for about two months? Or have I been in a parallel universe all this time and I just now came back to our reality?”
“Oh no it's very much our reality but I also did mean what I said. My sister was on set, and I did see her quiet often. But did I spend almost all of my free time with her? Did she spend hers with me? Nope. And that-” again with a far-from-innocent shrug “That is probably the only question I can answer. What she did? Did she have fun?... Who she was with? I wish I knew. What I know is I wasn't the one closest to her on set.”
“So you're telling me, (Y/n) was on set full of people she didn't really know, and you, her sister, barely spent any time with her? I'm gonna assume the rest of you didn't spend more time with her compared to Gal, right?” he asked and got nods from everyone, well, everyone who had their eyes on their screen and therefore looking at Conan, because there was still one that would avoid eye-contact even through the screen “Well, then, who was closest to her on set, if not you?”
“She, well-” Gal paused, smile all too sweet as she added “There could be someone...”
Said someone who couldn't even look up from his mug of coffee, as if it was the most interesting thing in the entire world, and didn't dare say a word for fearing of messing things up; even if his silence spoke volumes as it was. A silence which was... even more intense than before. Even more... real. Probably because it wasn't just in his head, probably because it wasn't just from his part.
Blinking several times, he slowly raised his head to look up from his mug and at the screen of his computer. Only to be met with the eyes of the rest of the group staring at... well, they were staring at the screen of their own computers but for some reason – a reason which he knew all too well – he felt like all eyes were suddenly on him. And they probably were. Because Gal was being nice about it but almost everyone had noticed how much time you had spent with Pedro during those almost two months. You had just met back then so they didn't imply anything back then but now... now they could just as well do so.
“I-” he laughed and he hated how nervous he sounded “Is it time to talk about my character?” he asked almost shyly, nearly praying on the inside that they would say yes and let him change the subject “Well, Max Lord is a guy who-”
“Are you trying to change the subject there, Pedro? One can wonder why.” Conan narrowed his eyes “Come on, don't be shy. Share your opinion here, or maybe your personal experience. Since I am assuming you do have one?”
“Yes, Pedro, why don't you share your opinion with us?” Gal raised an eyebrow, small smirk on her lips “You've been particularly interested in that drink the past couple minutes apparently.”
“I-” Pedro paused, before shaking his head with a laugh “This is going to be a long interview. I can tell.”

[*drops a sterek fic after two years and runs away to hide*]
-
It’s all Cora’s fault and Derek will remain of the opinion that his life only went downhill the moment his little sister was born.
It starts with Sara, his sister’s friend, whose boyfriend turned out to be a jerk and would not let her inside his apartment to collect her things unless she took him back. And Cora volunteered Derek to help.
Derek didn’t really mind it at first, Sara only needed a guy to look strong (which he is), angry (which he was) and able to carry her stuff from place a to place b (which he did). But some weeks later Sara met a friend with an equally stupid boyfriend and said friend had another friend and then Laura heard about it and it suddenly became a thing.
Georgia, Nelly, Carmen, Lola.
Isaac.
“I could help, you know?” Derek had said after the fifth time he noticed the blossoming purple bruises on the back of Isaac’s neck, his scrapped knuckles. “If you need to get rid of your –” he lowered his voice, “boyfriend.”
Isaac had looked at him, wide eyed, before he confessed he isn’t gay and the problem was actually his dad. “Oh,” Derek had said, thinking for a moment before adding, “I could help with that, too.”
Turns out Derek’s intimidation skills were lacking when compared to his own father’s.
-
“You’re doing a really nice thing, Derek.” Isaac says one night, helping him with his hand. Asshole boyfriend of the night thought he could bag a few punches before letting Phill grab his laptop back. Derek was faster, and stronger.
Isaac moved in with him and Boyd two weeks after his dad was sentenced. He didn’t want to, at first, was still incredibly shy and scared of everything, including Derek, but he opened up to Boyd pretty quickly. Despite his built (and the fact he can bench press three times his own weight), Boyd is the softest person Derek has ever met.
“Sure.” Derek sighs.
“But?” He asks and Derek sighs again, looks away when Boyd walks into the room.
“I had a date.” Derek confesses and Boyd whistles in sympathy.
“How many times has it been, again?”
“Three.” Derek winces when Isaac presses the antiseptic over the cut. “I’m – I really like him.”
“You could just tell him.” Isaac says. “He’s a cool guy, I guess.” He shrugs, smiling. “Sometimes he’s an asshole. But not in a bad way.”
Derek huffs out a laugh. “Yeah.”
Stiles is an asshole, he likes teasing Derek when they are discussing ethics in the workplace and every way capitalism is stepping over immigrants, they banter and they quote books back and forth and while some people (his sisters) roll their eyes when Derek brings up some history fact, Stiles nods along, brings up another history fact that Derek didn’t know (or sometimes pretends not to know, just to hear Stiles talking about it), hands moving around as he explains his point or badmouths a historic figure that owned so much money ‘their great-great-grandkids are still swimming in the gold they stole from the natives’.
Derek is in love.
“What did you tell him this time?” Boyd asks, munching on his chips. He shakes the bag in front of them and while Derek takes a couple, Isaac shakes his head, still not used to being allowed good things.
Some memories are hard to forget.
“That my mom had stopped by to visit.” Derek says. He hates lying, he is not even good at it. The first time he tried to tell Stiles he looked like a wet cat after he got caught up in the rain, white shirt sticking to his chest, Derek’s cheeks had gotten so red, Stiles asked him if he was okay.
“Dude.” Isaac says, shaking his head in disappointment as he finishes bandaging Derek’s hand.
“I know.” Derek gives back, collapsing on his bed with a groan.
This is all Cora’s fault.
-
Okay. Stiles texts back when Derek has to postpone their date again. Derek can feel the disappointment through the message, mirroring his own feelings.
How about tomorrow night? Derek tries, stares at his phone for minutes until he realizes Stiles probably won’t text him back.
-
“Please.” Maria says, holding her cat with a bright smile as they talk in front of a coffee shop. She is trying to convince him to accept a coffee and Derek is trying to convince her he doesn’t need it. “How can I thank you?”
Derek sighs. “I didn’t do anything.” And it is true, her boyfriend wasn’t working when they arrived at the coffee shop and when they opened the door of the apartment upstairs, it was empty save for the cat that Maria is currently hugging.
“You were there for me.” She smiles, tucking her hair behind her ear and Derek already knows what’s coming.
It’s not the first time, probably won’t be the last. He has been invited for ‘thank you’ coffees, dinners, sex. It never felt right, though. Not with the guys, and especially not with the girls.
Sorry. He always says. Some of them are attractive, he supposes, but he was, and still is, very much gay.
“I’m—” he starts, but Maria’s eyes widen and when Derek turns around, a guy is stalking towards them, eyebrows furrowed in anger.
“You bitch!” He shouts, startling most of the costumers inside and the shop and the people walking around the street. “What are you doing?”
“Taking my cat back!” She yells back and Derek steps closer, eyeing the guy’s fists as he starts to shake with anger.
The guy notices his move and turns his glare to him. “And who the fuck are you?”
Before Derek can answer, Maria chimes in. “My boyfriend.”
“What the fuck?” It takes Derek a second to realize the words didn’t come from him, but from someone in the crowd, one of the onlookers that gathered around them to watch the scene unfold.
Two seconds after that, Derek realizes the person talking was Stiles.
-
That explains a lot. It’s the last message Stiles sends him before blocking his number.
Derek tries to call, talk to him after class, but his friends keep him away, Lydia going as far as brandishing a can of pepper spray in front of him, eyes shining with an unspoken threat.
“You should follow him to his dorm.” Isaac offers, weakly.
“Creeps do that.” Derek says. “I don’t want to be more of an asshole than I already am.”
“You’re not an asshole.” Isaac says, clasping his shoulder in sympathy. “I could – talk to him? If you want?” The offer makes Derek smile, touched. Isaac is still extremely shy in front of strangers, but just the fact that he considered doing it for him is enough.
“It’s fine.” Derek says. It isn’t fine, and they both know it, but he will pull through. Eventually. “It wasn’t meant to be.”
-
It’s harder that Derek anticipated, seeing Stiles during classes and not being able to talk to him, to tease him when Mrs. Schilder glares at him for using a pun that makes the entire room burst out laughing from second-hand embarrassment.
He is beautiful, Derek thinks at least ten times a day, and smart and kind and funny and Derek could see them being together for a long time, falling deeper in love as the time passes.
He should be used to not having good things. He grew up as a middle child, as a gay teenager in a small town where some boys were so far deep in the closet, they couldn’t find their way out, he should be used to not keeping the things he likes.
So why does it hurt so much?
-
“Derek—”
“No.”
“She needs—”
“Call someone else.”
“You are really going to leave her—”
Derek slams his book shut, kicks his chair back as he stands up. Cora’s eyes widen when someone tells him to be quiet and Derek simply ignores them. “I need to study for a test. Call someone else.”
Helping someone should feel good, it should make him happy, not feel like a burden. He is more than an angry guy with a strong body. He doesn’t even like confrontation. He started working out to burn his energy, to let out some of this anger that he’s been constantly carrying inside and he kept working out because he enjoyed it and now – now even that is ruined.
“Why are you being so selfish?” She asks and Derek knows, deep inside, that she doesn’t mean it like that, that she’s just as angry as him, humiliated by the fact he’s calling her out in the middle of the library. Still, that doesn’t matter now. Now, Derek is angry and sad and done.
“Fuck you.” He says and walks away.
-
His initial plan was to make it to his apartment, bury himself under the covers and not leave his room until his mother comes to give him an earful. Because she will, undoubtedly, when Cora tells her about it.
But Derek doesn’t make it to his apartment, he doesn’t even make it outside the library, simply makes a u-turn and heads for the dark zone, a space under the stairs leading to the storeroom where couples usually go to make out. There, he collapses on the ground, taking deep breaths, and buries his face in his hands.
This has been a long time coming, he thinks. He’s been on the edge for a while. This entire experience has made him remember how awful it was to pretend to be someone he wasn’t, to be only liked for his body or for his ability to pass the answers to the test without the teacher seeing him.
Some memories are hard to forget.
“Are you okay?” Derek flinches, surprised to hear Stiles’ voice. “Oh,” Stiles whispers, noticing Derek’s red eyes, the tears streaming down his face, “bad day, huh?”
“She was not my girlfriend.” Derek blurts out, head a mess of emotions: fear, anger, loneliness, regret.
“Dude,” Stiles frowns, confused, “I know Cora is your sister.”
“No.” Derek shakes his head, frantic. “The other day, at the coffee shop. I was helping her with her ex-boyfriend, I do that sometimes. He— he was an asshole and she needed help getting her cat back and I look strong and I know how to –”
“Woah, woah, slow down.” Stiles raises his hands, alarmed, and Derek realizes his own hands are shaking and he can’t breathe. “In and out,” Stiles whispers, “can I—can I touch you?”
Derek shakes his head, focusing on his breath. Panic attack, he remembers, suffocating. No touching. “Okay,” Stiles agrees, easily, “should I keep talking?” Derek shakes his head again, keeps his eyes on his hands. Talking is too much, listening is too much, breathing is too much. “Do you want me to leave?”
“No.” Derek manages to gasp. He doesn’t want to be alone.
Stiles nods, leans against the wall next to Derek and starts fiddling with his shoelaces, twirling them around wordlessly. Derek doesn’t know how much time it passes, but he keeps watching Stiles’ fingers moving distractedly, patiently waiting for him. With him.
“I’m sorry.” Derek manages to say, eventually.
Stiles sighs. “I know.” He closes his own eyes before turning to Derek. “You don’t have to explain.”
“I—” Derek swallows heavily, “have to.” He answers, before shaking his head. No, that doesn’t sound right, “no, I—I want to.”
-
They leave the library together, Stiles standing up first and offering his hand to help Derek up. Stiles doesn’t let go as they walk towards Derek’s apartment, squeezes his hand from time to time as Derek tells him about everything.
“You could have told me.” Stiles notes.
“I don’t know why I didn’t.” Derek confesses. “I guess I didn’t want you to see me as that guy too. Beefy Derek.” He laughs, humorless. “That’s the nickname my sister came up with a few months ago.”
Stiles groans, stops walking, forcing Derek to stop as well. “You are so much more than that.” He assures, touching Derek’s face softly though his eyes shine with certainty. “I love your brain, your cute jokes, the fact that you get my stupid history facts because you like history just as much as I do, and especially the way you care so much. College, people, the world.” He pulls him in for a quick, assertive kiss, and Derek immediately feels so light he could fly. But he won’t, because Stiles is keeping him grounded by the softest touch, the smallest smile.
“Cute jokes?” He manages to ask, arching an eyebrow. When Stiles laughs, he smiles.
“They are.” He insists.
“Okay.” Derek accepts the words easily, because everything seems easy when it comes to Stiles. “If I ask you out on a new date,” he says, “will Lydia pepper spray me?”
“I will stop her.” Stiles reassures, squeezing his hand again. “But before,” he adds and Derek feels his stomach turning with anticipation, “you have to know that I kind of hate your sister right now.”
“Oh.” Derek says. “Okay, I can—I can see that.”
“I’m sorry.” Stiles says, though he doesn’t sound sorry at all.
“Me too.” Derek agrees.
-
When Derek tells him about Cora’s apology and the earful his sister got from their mom, Stiles excuses himself to go laugh in the bathroom while Derek shrugs and goes back to eating his share of the pizza.
By the time they get married, Stiles and Cora have become best friends. Derek hates it (he doesn’t).

First Blog Post!
Hello Hello! It is I...the PonPon! I thought I'd start a blog as I thought itd be a nice substitute in case I'm unable to stream on a certain day or something! That way I can still chat with you guys, give a little insight on the goings on in my life and doggo brain haha and maybe share some of my artwork or writings I've been working on these past few months... although we'll have to see haha as I'm pretty shy when it comes to sharing art and things. So today I thought I'd start my first blog entry ,sharing my thoughts and concerns on Amazon's The Rings of Power tv series. Now I know I just streamed awhile ago with me talking about it, but when I went back to check my stream I noticed my mic was on the fritz and you guys probably could barely hear me haha So I'm really sorry about that! Windows thought it'd be a good time to update the moment I started streaming! My apologies! Anyways lets get down to my thoughts on Amazons take on Middle Earth! So I first stumbled upon the news while scrolling though twitter and read Vanity Fairs update on Amazons Rings of Power. Basically to summarize it for you guys, the article went on to describe how production was going, how the creators of the show loved J.R.R. Tolkien & how they felt the tremendous pressure of living up to the amazing Peter Jackson Trilogy as well as how much Amazon wants to get this series right. Now along with this article they included pictures of the characters from the show and so far I don't really have any complaints on casting. I think...my only criticism so far, would be costume design? and maybe the special effects make up. So the first few pics the showed were of young Galadriel! the boss queen herself!
Now the article didn't really give any details on these pictures, though being a tolkien fan I know Galadriel did fight Sauron multiple times. like she kicked his butt cheeks to mordor and back XD Although whether it was physically fighting or using magic I'm not quite sure? at least I can't remember off the top of my head haha @jellycreature if you know any details please let me know haha Anyways I don't really have any gripe with this costume design, I do love the armor!! reminds me very much of the armor seen in Gondor!! and not to mention I LUV how the chest armor is accurate and barrel chested! like its not booby armor- it actually looks practical & historically accurate! I think my only gripe would be I'd love for her to wear maybe some leather fingerless gloves, similar to Aragorn's! but thats just my smol little gripe haha Other than that so far this pic of Galadriel looks ok :3 Now the next three pictures they showed was of two dwarves and an elf. What specific characters they play im not really certain.
But so far! Ioving it!! I love how the dwarves look, the make up is well done!! although again my only gripe would be, is to have the female dwarf have more luscious facial hair-as tolkien did say they had beautiful beards! Also a huge thing that I loved, that was rumored and talked about on reddit was that Amazon would include a multicultural cast and as you can see. they did just that! Unfortunately right now there's a few....shitty tolkien fans out their who are whining about how they don't like Amazons choice to have a multicultural cast how 'there are no black elves, dwarves or hobbits in middle earth ect...' and im sitting here like.....gurl...stop XD whether or not tolkien stated there are 'non white elves, dwarves or hobbits' in middle earth - it really shouldn't be up for debate? like to me... it shouldnt even be a concern? As I feel like a man who wrote about a fellowship-literally a bunch of different races of middle earth coming together to stop an evil from spreading is pretty telling in itself don't you think? So to me...Amazons choice of having a multicultural cast....Chefs kiss! haha now there were a few pictures of some characters I wasn't too thrilled about-but again that has to do with costume design and make up design.
like this elf for example...personally when I saw it I was like 'bro thats an elf from dragon age! 'haha and I think its mostly his pidgeotto hairstyle XD it just looks... too modern for me? which kinda pulls me out of believing this is indeed an elf and not some guy cosplaying his dragon age OC. Again this is just a smol gripe, I know this isn't gonna be exactly like Peter Jacksons elves -just sort of wished they went with a better hairstyle for this character- as well as have his traveling clothes look just a little be worn ,you know?
Although I suppose my biggest beef would be this characters costume design...like when I first saw it I was like...is he....wearing a t shirt? why does it look so clean and ironed out ? XD also I wished they made him look just a tad grimey-r XD like where's my sweat and dirt? overall though I feel that Amazons The Rings of Power....seems...well I don't know really haha lets just say they took on a huge film making challenge....and hopefully they didn't go with the standard hollywood studio look, where everything is cgi or green screen, every actor is clean and looks like they just walked out of a spa XD and costume design/ make design is historically inaccurate and looks half assed. here's hoping they actually cared about Tolkien's stories and made this series with love! instead of just cashing in on the fandom. And.....that's all I got to say haha OH! but before I go.... if you're hankering for an amazing fantasy tv series that's just as good as Peter Jacksons LOTR trilogy....with practical effects and made with so much love and passion... Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Please Please Please give it a chance! It's absolutely inspiring!

Exhibits
Toshinori Yagi / All Might x Reader
Summary: you run into a man at the hero exhibit on display at the museum you work at. You soon find out his name to be Toshinori Yagi and you two hit it off and eventually get married and what not...but little did you know that Toshinori Yagi had quite the secret.
Masterlist
The sounds of conversation fluttered softly through the whole exhibit. Children excitedly rushed from each case to the other, excitedly pointing to the mannequins that held their iconic poses with the most iconic hero costumes plastered on them or hardcore fans to geek out over seeing the details up close. Though the eye catcher of your little exhibit was the All Might display. Every costume from each age was displayed, lights illuminating each color and fiber beautiful for those small children or for anyone to get a closer look to the most iconic hero of all time in Japan. People would also stand in shock next to the cutout of the symbol of peace and gawk at the height difference between themselves and All Might. Thankfully, spare costumes were even provided in order for the visitors to touch and feel, so people were also letting their fingers graze over the fabric.
The exhibit was your pride and joy. Seeing all those visitors enjoying themselves and devouring and digesting every fact, detail, and color was amazing to observe as you walked about, name tag pinned proudly to your smart outfit as your heels clicked against the freshly waxed and polished floors of the museum.
“Sorry, but please, no touching the class cases and please stand behind the line we have on the floor right here.” You said sweetly to a few kids who had their faces pressed up against one of the class that protected one of the costumes. The kids, embarrassed, backed up with sad moans. “But....if you go around the corner over there...you can touch every age of All Might’s costumes...” you said, the kids giving their excited ‘thanks!’ As they hurriedly off to where you instructed them to go. You couldn’t help but giggle as you watched them disappear around the corner, you beginning to turn around, but let out a gasp as you found yourself almost running into someone. “I am so sorry!” You quickly gushed out as your hands automatically went to the other’s arms, balancing yourself before taking a step back.
“Oh no, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to stop so close behind you.” The other man mumbled out as he held a hand up in reassurance, a small blush upon his cheeks, but he quickly cleared his throat before motioning a hand to the costume that sat off to the side. “So...um...Gran Torino, huh?” He said a bit awkwardly, but you only giggled as you turned to look to the costume on display.
“Yes, I had to track him down in order to ask to borrow it, but he happily obliged when I did meet him. It adds a nice touch, I feel we focus on what happens in our own years instead and not admire the hero’s that were prevalent in the years before us.” You commented, soon casting a glance to him, casting him a little grin with a shrug of your shoulders.
“Really? Tell me, who are your favorite heroes then.” The gaunt man before you asked, you taking in a breath before letting a sigh, a finger brought of your to you chin in though. Though you finally brought your hand back down from your face, prepared to answer.
“Well, All Might since he played such a huge role in everyone’s lives in Japan, including me.” You said with a little laugh, your tone so matter of fact. “His face and name is the one I found myself looking for in the media and news, but of course there’s Endeavor and Best Jeanist.” You listed off. Though the man before you nodded his head, but then moved to face you, giving a small bow.
“I’m Toshinori Yagi...” He introduced himself, which when you began to introduce yourself, he shook his head, motioning to your name tag. “Don’t worry, I got your name...” he said jokingly, causing a small giggle to erupt from you as you shyly looked down to your feet until back at him. “Well, can you give me a little tour of this exhibit?” He asked, you nodding your head before leading him through the different displays, jokingly and dramatically motioning to each one which gained a laugh from him as you went on. Though as the time went on, more and more people began to file out for the end of the day, the museum beginning to near its closing. That left you and him along before the All Might costumes that were on display in order for viewers to touch them. You couldn’t help but lean forward and allow your fingers to run over the fabric, a soft smile upon your face.
“Now this...this is what I’m most proud of.” You spoke out with a grin to him over your shoulder. “Imagine being able to touch something that makes the symbol of peace the symbol of peace.” You said as you looked back to the costume, admiration upon your face as you look to the display, arms crossed. “Plus cosplayers and designers who come to look for inspiration can get a better look at the materials and I know being able to touch it helps them quite a lot.” You said with a shrug of your shoulders, watching Toshinori reach out to give a small touch to the costume before retracting his hand. He was just about to say something, but the announcement that the museum was now closing interrupted him.
“I have to go...” he mumbled out as he listened to the announcement echoed around his head as he looked to you. He had to admit, he was disappointed that the time with you and talking with you was cut mercilessly.
“I’ll see you around, I’ll be here everyday for the next couple of weeks before everything is packed up and sent back to their original owners.” You said, a hopeful look glinting in your eye as you looked to him, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.
“Definitely...”
And he was being truthful as he said that since the next day he was back again, matching suit jacket to his yellow, pinned striped suit draped over his arm as he made his way through the exhibit again, blue eyes staring up to those poses with wonder. Though you were excitedly walking up to him, a hand rested upon his arm.
“Hey!” You said, hand tucking away pesky hairs that had fallen from the pins you had in your hair, a grin upon your face. That became a routine between the two of you. Meet up, walk about and discuss different things. It was nice, but one day that announcement had become enough for Toshinori.
“Want to go grab something to drink? Or eat?” He asked, you quickly nodding your head.
“Yes! Yes, just...wait for me outside, I just have to go grab my things.” You said before rushing off, leaving him to smile away to the clomps of your heels. So with that he waited outside, suit jacket now upon his body as he shoved his hands into the depths of his pocket, waiting and waiting...until finally those familiars clicks reached his ears.
“Alright! I’m ready!” You happily chirped as you adjusted your purse on your shoulder, a grin on your lips as you linked your arm with his, letting him lead your down the sidewalks painted orange by the setting sun. The two of you decided on a small little rotation sushi joint, the two of your tucked away by the conveyor belt, cardigan and suit jackets tossed off to the side as the two of you laughed and giggled to something the other said.
“No! Honestly! This guy stomps into my exhibit and wanted to square up with me over the costumes being ‘fakes’ or whatever and that he knew it because of his years studying it in a ‘hero encyclopedia’ you snorted out as you took a sip from your drink, Toshinori laughing across from you, grabbing the plate that contained the sushi he had ordered from the little kiosk at the table.
“What got you into the museum life though? Not really a popular career path...not that it’s a bad thing.” He quickly elaborated as he continued to eat, looking to you to await your answer.
“I love museums...and my quirk played a role...” you said as you scrolled through the options on the menu absent mindedly, casting a side glance to him. “My quirk allows me to be really....um...perceptive with colors and lighting. I can see colors better than any human, animal, organism, you name it. So with that, I can really maneuver things in order to get the best view of it and obtain great lighting too to achieve it. That’s why my exhibits are always such a hit, especially when it comes to showing off clothing. Historical and traditional garments, movie costumes, heroes, a lot.” You explained, finally deciding on something from the menu before clicking the option, now facing him again. “What about you?”
“Me?” He said with a raised brow, clicking his chopsticks in his hands as he thought it over, arm lent forward and onto the table. “Just some lousy pawn for an agency..” he said with a little laugh. “I’m quirkless...so not really a lot of options in the playing field, so paperwork upon paperwork it is” He said with a shrug of his shoulders as he leant his cheek onto his leant up fist, watching you grab the sushi you had ordered.
“Well quirkless or not, I still like you, even if I don’t like the fact that you called yourself lousy.” You said with a grin as you grabbed ahold of your chopsticks. “Besides, once you really think about it, I just see a lot of color, that’s it, so really I could be considered quirkless too.” You said with a laugh as you began to eat again, Toshinori finishing up and now leant back into the booth, arms crossed over his chest. “I never had a chance at heroic work and whatnot.” You said after you swallowed the food in your mouth.
“Did you want to become a hero?” He asked, you scrunching up your face in thought before giving a firm nod of your head.
“Well yeah, who doesn’t as a child? I was certainly no different, but as I got older, I realized that with my quirk, I wasn’t going anywhere. So I enrolled in UA’s general studies...” you said, the two sushi roles left on your plate forgotten as you leaned back to relax too with your full and content stomach.
“Wait....you said you liked me.” Toshinori said with a small, little smirk upon his lips as he leaned forward on the table again.
“Well, yeah. What’s the point of me not being up front about it when I literally spent the past two weeks talking with you at the museum and excepting your offer to go out to eat.” You said with a shrug of your shoulders, now sipping from your drink, the condensation rolling off and dripping it’s little droplets of water onto the table. “Anyways, I went to college and studied art history and the fine arts.” You said as your drink was now set back down and forgotten off to the side, passing a napkin to clean up the water that had dripped off of your class and onto the table. Though a waiter had interrupted what he was about to say, Toshinori paying for the bill before getting up and slipping his suit jacket back on, helping you up from the booth and handing you your purse before walking out of the restaurant with you, your arm wrapped around his as the two of your now waited at the bus stop. On the bus you let your head rest upon his shoulder, a comfortable silence now resting upon both of you, even when you were now stepping up to your apartment door, the lights of cars dancing upon the horizon past the railings that lead down the walkway to each apartment. “Would you maybe...like to come in for a bit?” You asked as you pulled out your apartment keys with a jingle, a soft nod of his head answering you as his fingers hooked onto yours.
He didn’t leave until that morning, leaving his number and a note that he had work. Toshinori at your house had become a normal occurrence. To the point where now you had a little section of your closet just for him, extra pairs of suits hanging away in their protective bags and along with casual clothing, night clothes tucked away with your own in a drawer. It brought a smile to your face to walk in and see them, not being able to help but shove your nose into the fabric to get the wonderful serotonin the smell of the remnants of his cologne would give you. The best sleep of your life happened too in his arms and evenings were spent cuddled away on your couch watching movies or him working on paper work as you would cook dinner. It was a nice, domestic routine the two of you had formed and enjoyed immensely. It carried on for a few years until finally he popped the question, officially moved in, and got married. One day though, you were cuddled up into his side, watching some random stuff on the television when it was interrupted by a news segment show casing All Might. Honestly, it was pretty normal, so you kind of just decided to deal with the interview that was playing on screen.
“How do you think he manages all that? Interviews, teaching at UA, and then also with being a hero.” You said with a laugh as the interviewer tried to crack a joke and point out the mysterious wedding band that was on All Might’s finger that drove the world insane with how the mystery woman was. “AND be married.” You added, moving to wrap the blankets around you and Toshinori, the other only letting out a chuckle as he helped you.
“Why you say that?” He asked, arms resting back onto you after the blankets were to you and his liking, now looking down to you, pressing a kiss onto your forehead.
“Come on, he’s always jumping around fighting crime plus dealing with students at UA, his wife has got to be pissed that he’s away all the time, like she probably doesn’t want to do all the dishes or laundry by herself anymore.” You joked as you looked up to him before looking back to the tv, but something was up with Toshinori after that interview ended. He was...antsy, kept moving around. “Hey, so you need to walk around? You keep moving.” You spoke up as you looked up to him again.
“Hm? Oh, sorry.” He muttered out, now back to staring off to the tv, but something made you feel like he was only day dreaming, but you only shrugged your shoulders. “Actually....I have something to tell you...” he muttered out, you moving to sit up, looking to him now.
“Toshinori...you don’t have to feel bad.....I know you washed something red with the towels and that’s why they are pink....” you said, busting out with a little snort, gaining a little huff and a roll of Toshinori’s eyes as he watched you laugh.
“No, that’s not what I was going to say, but ok I did that, but no...” he said with a shake of his head. “I’m...I’m All Might...” he finally spoke out, you looking at him blankly before laughing.
“Oh har har Toshinori...nice joke, that’s a new one, I don’t think I’ve heard it in our last, what, six years of marraige?” You asked teasingly as you grabbed the tv remote to begin channel surfing again, but your husband had already took the remote. “Hey...!” you said with a pout, your husband now standing before you.
“I can prove it!” He declared, you raising your eyebrows up at him. “Remember the exhibit? How we met?” He questioned, you only giving a nod of your head, leaning back into the couch, hands pulling the discard blanket back onto your lap. “You wrote to my angency asking for the one and only support item that I used to direct air whenever I would use my force to manipulate it, but I didn’t send it.” He spoke out, you only rolling your eyes.
“You’re really good sweetheart, but any intermediate fan who studied his ages knows that one.” You said as you pointed a finger at him, he only looking at you in disbelief as you went to grab for the remote, but he only moved it away. That’s when a hiss sounded out and...smoke? It was like your husband was being inflated before you....
“I am here!” Came out that iconic voice, All Might, well your husband, stood before you, baggy night shirt and shorts now tight against the bulging physique of All Might.
“What the fuck!” You shouted, now grabbing one of the pillows on the couch to throw it at All Might, now crawling off the couch and running across the room and into the kitchen. “Ah!” You screamed again once you saw All Might begin to run after you, now proceeding in a constant cycle of chasing around the kitchen table.
“Stop running! I’m not going to hurt you! I’m your husband!” He shouted, you and him now twitching from side to side, trying to see which way the other would run from their side of the table.
“Six years! I slept in a bed next to you, cooked with you AND for you, made love to you, and have been married to you for six years! You tell me this after six years!?” You shouted at him from your place, hands gripping onto the chairs before you, but once again you and him were running, now he was where you were and you were where he was.
“When was I ever suppose to bring it up?! I didn’t want to endanger you! And I didn’t want you to think of me differently!” He spoke out, head almost hitting the hanging lights above the table as he leaned forward, hands pressed on top of the table. “Stop running!”
“Stop chasing me! You know I hate people running after me because I just run on instinct!” You cried out as you were once again running away, All Might now jumping over the table and following after you.
“Ow!” He yelled out as he bumped his head on the door way of the your shared bedroom, stumbling back a bit as his head went to the little gash on his head, you finally stopping your running.
“Are you ok?!” You gasped out, you now standing before him, trying to reach your hands up, but it was in vain. He was extremely taller than you. “Let me clean it up, Toshinori.” You spoke out as you grabbed onto his free hand, leading him into the bathroom, throwing the lid to the toilet down which he instantly sat on as he watched you pull out the first aid, already cleaning the gash on his forehead.
“I’m sorry...” he soon muttered out as you motioned for him to hold a small piece of gauze down so you could anchor it down with medical tape. “I wanted to tell you, but I was scared that you would feel differently or whatever, you know? I let myself think the worse would happen.” He spoke out, you sighing as you hopped up onto the counter space in between the two sinks of the master bedroom’s bathroom, legs swinging gently as you looked to your husband before you. It was strange to see All Might, the Symbol of Peace, and attach the title ‘Husband’ to him in your head.
“Hm...so that’s why All Might mysteriously had a wedding ring.” You finally spoke out as you used your foot to nudge at his hand with the ring, he only laughing and grabbing ahold of your foot to set it upon his knee, hands beginning to absentmindedly run at your leg. Though the man before you looked completely different from what your husband had usually looked like, his habits and actions were all the same, except that voice...that was gonna need some getting use to.
“Yeah...I didn’t want to take the ring off...” he said as he scratched the back of his neck with a little blush upon his face. “I still wanted to show off that I myself was happily married, so I just didn’t take it off, but it was hard to not just blab about you.” He said sheepishly, you blushing a little bit, hopping down from the counter, stepping up from him, though you brought your fist down to his arm. “Ow- I mean that totally didn’t hurt but what was that for?!” He asked as he brought a hand up to rub the spot you punched.
“That’s what you get for lying to me!” You said before tossing your arms around his neck. “But my husband is All freaking Might! That’s kind of cool...” you spoke out with a giggle as you pulled back from the hug.
“Yes...but also I got one more thing...”
“Oh no...what now” you said with a sigh, fear on your face.
“I want my students to meet you! And the teachers!” He gushed out as he held onto your hands.
“You want me to meet your students and coworkers? That’s an obvious yes”
“Oh hell yes!”

Anne Boleyn 2021 Review
Okay, so I want to start this off by saying I am a day late and a dollar short. I know that. Who wants my, over thousand-word, essay on this... but I've gonna give it to you. So please keep reading and leave me comments with your thoughts about this show.
So I will start this off with the positives:
I think Jodie Turner-Smith was excellently cast as Anne Boleyn. Jodie has a remarkable range as an actress. Especially since this version of Anne Boleyn, she is both victim and villain Jodie was able to pull it off flawlessly. She jumped from being a heartbroken wife to manipulating Henry VIII very well. Two scenes that really highlight this are:
The one after her miscarriage and Henry riding off; showed Anne’s desperation and sorrow very well. “Won’t you say goodbye to your wife?” was a heartbreaking line and I very nearly lost it when she collapsed.
The second was in the next episode where she manipulated herself back into his “good graces” by proposing Cromwell had been double-crossing him. This didn’t come across as villainous to me, it came across as a woman in a struggle for survival. Playing the game to keep her station after miscarriage.
I will say this about the show Jodie carried it on her back. She made Anne very sympathetic but highlight that she had this temper that harmed her. However, unlike Claire Foy’s Anne Boleyn I never felt this Anne was unlikable. She came across as someone struggling to survive. The scene with Mary after she learns of potentially Mary being reinstated in the line of succession also highlighted this. The whole "The King never likes to be without me for long" was a lie given he had left her but it was to puff up her station. Reminding Norfolk that she helped his daughter marry the King's son. Forcing Chapuys to kiss her hand. These weren't just power moves, they were survival moves.
This Anne was similar to Natalie Dormer’s Anne in season 2 of the Tudor and Geneviève Bujold in Anne of a Thousand Days. I enjoyed how Jodie both made the performance utterly her own but also obviously drew inspiration from the others.
Moving on,
Another positive was George and Anne’s relationship. I did like how touching their scenes were. The final meeting between George and Anne was heartbreaking.
The horse symbolism, while oddly ripped off from The Tudor’s swan symbolism what I liked. Also, the clock from King Francis implying the “Her time is up” I truly enjoyed. I am just a sucker for symbolism
The Norris Comment
I LOVED THIS. I loved how not only it was said, Anne being flirtatious and joking but the immediate drop. This was the moment Anne truly screwed up. I loved how Norris reacted and the reactions of everyone in the room. This comment is oddly overlooked by most productions of Anne Boleyn or Henry VIII. From what I have read it was an incredibly important comment that was made by Anne. This in combination with her final miscarriage left her in a dangerous position.
Now to a more mixed feeling:
Henry and Anne’s relationship:
On the one hand, I liked it, it showed they were still into each other a lot. This is unlike The Tudors where Henry VIII weirdly loses all sexual interest in Anne (but somehow still expects her to have a baby). Most productions show Anne and Henry’s marriage crumbling the second she has Elizabeth which just isn’t true. I also liked how the miscarriage alone didn’t cause Anne’s downfall, which is usually how it’s done.
That being said the physical violence… Henry VIII was a lot of things but he really wasn’t a physically violent guy himself. He’d execute you but he was a coward about it. I think the one notable time Henry got physically violent with a wife is when he ordered a sword after discovering Katherine Howard’s prior “relationships” and people thought he was angry enough to execute her himself. Even with Jane Seymour, he seems more degrading of her at times than physically violent. Emotional violence was more Henry’s style.
I do understand that they were trying to show the relationship as chaotic, volatile, and unhealthy. However, I just didn’t think it was necessary to add physical violence to do this.
Now with the petty:
The costumes… were so god damn ugly. Just as a side note before we pass from the positives to the true negatives. I just don’t understand what goes through the minds of costume designers. Jodie is a beautiful actress and they put her in the ugliest of clothing.
I mean I have seen worse costumes. They weren't as bad as The White Princess or Wolf Hall. But I would put them alongside The White Queen honestly.
I don't think costumes must be accurate, but I want them to be pretty at least. If you aren't going to make them accurate can we at least have something interesting to look at?
The Negatives:
Jane Boleyn: Ummm I don’t know what to say other than this is fucking dumb. I mean I guess we should be glad there was no physical violence between George and Jane this time around. Other than that I don’t get it. We literally are three mins into episode one and they have Anne call Jane a “spiteful little bitch” why? Because she’s upset her husband is cheating on her? Like Anne is upset her husband is cheating on her? Why wouldn’t Anne sympathize with Jane if that were the case? Even if they wanted to make Jane Boleyn evil they did a bad job. Am I not supposed to have sympathy with the wife getting cheated on?
Also, Dan Jones should have his degree ripped from him. Dan Jones is an actual historian who is an executive producer on this show and he allowed them to have Jane be brought as a witness to Anne’s trial.
On that note let’s move to the Jousting Head Injury thing. Again Dan Jones should have his degree ripped from him. This event did not happen, at least not like this. You can watch Claire Ridgeway’s video on this but the historical records do not support Henry VIII being unconscious at all after this fall. And it was funny they had Chapuys heavily involved in these scenes since he never even wrote about this event. You’d think if it was that important he would have.
That gross miscarriage scene… for all that is holy I do not understand why we are getting these intense miscarriage scenes. The camera was literally between Jodie’s legs at one point. It was so nasty. The sounds… I just can’t. I won’t go into it further but I’d rather have Natalie’s Dormer’s implied miscarriages with just some bleeding then this shit any day.
Now before I tactical the racism I want to say the final episode was probably the weakest one. Anne’s trial… I hated it. I hated Anne speech it was way too much Feminism™. I would have rather had her execution speech or her confession with Crammer. I do get why they only chose to have one of these in the episode, it would totally over crowd the episode. That being said… not only was the directing weird in this scene the speech they wrote just was subpar at best.
The Racism:
Okay, I am going to try my best to tactical the racism in the show. Now I am white and I don’t want to say I should be speaking over ANYONE. Plenty of black Tudor fans have written this better than me.
However, two plot points on this show really struck me as racist.
Jane Seymour: the odd predator behavior Anne has around Jane Seymour. It must be noted that the age gap looks apparent on the screen. Jane’s actress is 25 and Jodie is 34. Jane looked like an innocent schoolgirl and the aggressive scenes with Anne made these seem incredibly predatory. In ALL other productions, I’ve seen this is never how Anne and Jane come across.
The weird kiss between them was both racist and homophobic. I think they said it was about Anne wanting to see the “appeal”. Again it just made her look predator. The worst scene was when she was circling Jane as she spoke a hymn. Honestly, they made Jodie look like a fucking shark in that scene. It was so nasty.
The second and less talked about was Anne and Kingston. I don’t get why nobody is talking about that disturbing scene where Kingston physically pushes Anne onto the bed and holds her there. It was utterly disturbing, and quite frankly I am shocked anyone found that appropriate. You cannot separate Anne being portrayed by Jodie, a black woman, and having a white man grip her head down on a bed saying “She’s only a woman” as an insult. It was incredibly disturbing.
Also in general having Kingston treats Anne so awful… when all other productions of Anne Boleyn have Kingston treat her remarkably well. Racism is implied here. Why in every other production Anne's ladies are kind and gentle to her, and Kingston is moved by her, but when it's Jodie he's physically brutalizing her?
I think there were obviously other incidents, including all the shit with George and Jane but I don’t feel that equipped to handle them. I just wanted to bring these two to light.
Overall:
Jodie was amazing, carried the show on her back. That’s kind of it. It was very subpar. For a show that claims in the beginning inspired by “The Truth… and lies,” it seems more inspired by lies than by any sort of truth.
I mean did we need another Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn TV show. Probably not. Which makes me feel sad. Jodie was so good. She truly pulls off regal. I want to see her in more period dramas. But other than that… 5.5 stars maybe?

Okay! Time for the final @whumptober2020 fic, for completion! (There might actually be one more, because I was planning it - I’d forgotten I’d actually already done theme 30! We’ll see if I’m motivated enough to do it again, with the idea I still have!)
This one’s actually going back to an earlier theme, because I didn’t have a good idea for it then, but I do now! So here’s theme no.13, Breathe In Breathe Out - for the prompt “oxygen mask”.
This one’s Evanstan, with a fire on set, Seb needing an oxygen mask, and that lovely angst-with-happy-ending “I thought you were dead!” trope, and love confessions!
#
Fire. Chris smells it, hears it—ash and alarm, cinders and shouts—before he sees it. He’s been over in hair and makeup, and he and the makeup artists exchange looks and duck out the door, trying to see what’s going on. Someone yells something about the set. The soundstage. Going up. Sirens shriek in the distance.
The set—but—
Sebastian’s on set.
Sebastian’s on that set, because he’d already been called over for a few shots before Chris’s character’s meant to show up and fret over him with space-program director worry. Sebastian’s on that set, dressed in that astronaut’s uniform, practicing getting in and out of his tiny historical-replica capsule—
Chris can’t put the pieces together. He can’t.
He runs, instead. Everyone is. Across the lot. Toward the flames.
The fire’s sharp and vicious, orange and red and hungry, full of fangs. The heat hits like a fist, leaping from the soundstage. It’s all going up.
Firefighters’re at work. Water flies past him; chemical retardants soothe flaring rage. The fire fights back.
Several people stumble out of the smoke, with the aid of more of the fire brigade. Chris recognizes them: crew, extras, a personal assistant. No Sebastian.
No Sebastian—
No. No. He lunges closer. “Seb!”
“Chris—” That’s Anthony Mackie, also on this film, which they’d laughed about—the three of them together again—and half in costume and half not, the tuxedo shirt for the astronaut fancy-dress ball hanging open over jeans. “Chris, no—you can’t, you can’t go in—”
“Sebastian’s in there!”
Mackie’s face wears horror like an open grave: comprehending the loss, broken open, full of anguish. “I know—Chris, I know—but you can’t, they said, it’s—”
An explosion. A billow of flame. Shooting out a door.
“No,” Chris snaps. He pulls against the grip on his arm. “No.”
“I’m sorry—” Mackie has both arms around him now, as Chris staggers. They wrestle or collapse or crumple to the ground. “It’s too late, Chris, it’s—I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, you know I…oh, Jesus…Seb…”
They cling to each other, huddled on hard ground. Chris’s knees hurt from the impact. When he breathes he tastes smoke, cinders, flying bits of paper.
It’s not real. It can’t be real. It’s too fast, too strange, too horrible to be true.
Sebastian isn’t—Seb’s not—
Sebastian, who just that morning had been kissing him, laughing, running lines with him in the shower and singing Green Day slightly off-key and trailing hands all over Chris’s body with a smirk that said he was thinking about what they’d just done…
Sebastian can’t be gone. Chris loves him.
“But,” he whispers. “No…he’s not…he can’t be…”
The fire’s hissing, spitting, cornered. Backing down.
Murmurs happen in the background. Paramedics, emergency crews. People doing head counts.
“We were going to,” Chris says, very small, hiding from the imminent understanding, not wanting to understand. “We were going to…after this film…we would’ve told everyone…our characters’re in love anyway…Seb said we should do it at the premiere…we’re going to tell everyone. About us. I love him.”
“Chris,” Mackie says. “Chris, look at me.”
“I’m going to kiss him,” Chris says. “In public. I’m…I was…he wanted…I wanted to hold his hand and tell everyone I’m in love with him…”
“I know. He told me. You told me. I know you were.”
“But…he’s…” He can’t think. Can’t move. The weight crushes him down onto the ground. “He’s…”
Something’s happening. Paramedics coming over. Hands coaxing Chris up, voices asking questions.
He answers mechanically. Dully. He’s not hurt. He’s not injured, physically. He mumbles, “Sebastian…”
“It’s all right.” The closest paramedic pats his shoulder. “It’s all right, I promise—here, come with us, this way…”
Nothing’s all right. Nothing ever will be again.
Because it doesn’t matter, he goes along with her. Stumbling around the side of the building, the ruin, the rubble. Haze hangs heavy in the air. The shape of an ambulance looms, squat and white. Chris’s eyes burn. He isn’t crying—or is he? Smoke and shock mingle and slide down his cheeks.
Would it have been quick? Would Seb have had that mercy, at least? He can’t let himself imagine the alternative: Seb trapped in that small one-man capsule, unable to escape, knowing…
He has to stop. Bending over. Hands braced on knees. He’s dizzy. Wanting to fall.
“Chris!” That’s…a voice he knows. That’s…
It can’t be. It can’t.
“Chris!” says Sebastian’s voice again, followed by a cough—no, a series of coughs, deep and shuddering, and then what sounds like medical admonishment over protests. Someone else says, “Yes, he’s fine—keep that on, please, we’ll get him for you—”
Sebastian’s voice, or the voice that sounds like Seb’s, murmurs something indistinct and subsides.
Chris lurches upright. Rubs his eyes. He can’t see. Can’t recall how to breathe, how to take a step—
The friendly paramedic takes his arm. Coaxes him around the side of the ambulance, to the back, among a few coughing and wounded bodies, everyone alive; she guides him over to where—
Where he sees—
“Sebastian…” His knees wobble. His voice cracks. “Seb…”
Sebastian’s lying propped up on a stretcher. Oxygen mask in place. Air flowing. Ash in his hair, an ugly burn across one arm, black streaks like claws slashing his astronaut’s wardrobe.
But his eyes are open. His chest’s going up and down. He brightens all over, whole body transformed with relief and joy, at the sight of Chris; he struggles to push himself up, to move.
Chris throws himself that way. Hands shaking. Heart shaking. Reaching for Seb. “Sebastian—oh god—Seb—”
Sebastian flings both arms around him, heedless of burns and smoke. Chris holds him, feels him, clutches him desperately. Seb’s here. Seb’s here and real.
He knows nothing else, for a handful of seconds.
He finally pulls back because he needs to look, needs to see. He gazes at Sebastian, drinks him in, sinks into the certainty of him. Sebastian. His Sebastian. Alive.
Seb leans into Chris’s arm. He’s weak, frighteningly so, but moves the mask again. “Hey…love you…”
“Don’t,” Chris whispers, “don’t, you need that, keep it on, they said,” and tries to nudge it back with fumbling fingers. “I love you…oh, fuck, Seb…I love you so damn much…”
Seb resists putting the mask on, long enough to promise, “I’m here. I’m here and I’m safe, okay?” He stops to cough; he closes his eyes after, briefly.
Chris looks up at their paramedic. She tells him, “He’ll be all right. We’ll keep an eye on his lungs, but his breathing’s already improving, and everything sounds the way it should, the way we’d expect. He’s a hero, you know.”
Sebastian, now settled against Chris, waves one hand: tiredly dismissing this.
“Oh, yes,” the paramedic says, to Chris. “He got three people out that side door, before anyone ever made it in. They’re all talking about it.”
“Of course he did.” Chris gazes down at Sebastian, in his arms. “Of course you did. I fucking love you.”
Seb looks up, Tries to grin, or shrug: brushing off heroism, all in a day’s work, happy to be here and held by Chris.
Their paramedic says, casually, “He wouldn’t rest until we found you.” She’s bandaging Seb’s burned arm now, talking. “Didn’t realize you two were a thing.”
And Chris feels that impact, that whiplash, like a second smaller gut-punch.
He can’t be upset about anything, no room for that emotion, not when Seb’s alive. Nothing but love, gratitude, bone-deep reprieve so acute he wants to start sobbing into Seb’s hair—
And he’s just babbled words about how much he loves Sebastian. Aloud. All over the place. And Seb said it too, because Chris did, because Chris needed reassurance. When they haven’t made that announcement yet.
He’s hot and cold, suddenly. Sebastian had wanted—though it’d been mostly for fun, for the timing of the announcement—to wait. To not say anything yet.
But—Sebastian’s alive.
And Seb must feel the sudden tension, the war of realizations happening in Chris’s muscles, because he shifts, glances up at Chris’s face, raises eyebrows. Gingerly lifts his oxygen mask again. “Chris.”
“Stop doing that—”
“Just. One thing.” A pause, a cough; but he’s sounding better. “I love you. What was it…you said? I fucking love you.”
Chris tries to say Sebastian’s name. Emotion snarled in his throat. Clogging words.
“Could’ve lost you. Or me. Just now.” Seb breathes, in and out. “I don’t want to wait. I don’t want to not say it. I love you, Chris Evans. For…fucking always.”
“Yes,” Chris says, Chris is saying, words tumbling and falling all over themselves and pouring out, “yes, yes, god, fuck, yes, I love you, I love you so much, Sebastian—I want that too, I want this, I want everyone to fucking know how much I love you—always, always, yes.”
Sebastian’s eyes are sparkling by the time he finishes, even above the oxygen mask. Their paramedic says happily, “Congratulations,” while beaming at them both, checking Seb’s vitals, making sure he’s doing fine.
Other people are coming over, led by Mackie; a wave of concern rushes their way. There’ll be some cameras, too, Chris knows.
He doesn’t care. He’s holding Sebastian, holding onto Sebastian: the love of his life, because they are both alive, alive and here and rock-solid together. The soundstage is smoking and groaning, and there’ll be rebuilding and filming delays and rescheduling to contend with, plus the news story their love life’s about to become, and that’s all okay, because it’s all real and true.
Sebastian’s breathing. So Chris is too. And he knows they’re both going to be just fine.

Hola it is I, here to request the costume design thoughts. I love costuming and dress history and all that, so would love to know your thoughts!! 😊
Hello, my friend, you're once again going to get one of my super long rant posts because I have thoughts. This is also for @marshmallowmcgonagall who asked me about my thoughts on this too. Thank you both for indulging me💜
Disclaimer here: I am not a costumer nor a fashion historian and I barely have any idea of what I'm talking about here, so just bear with me.
So the first thing you want to know when watching a period drama is if the costumes are historically accurate. Note that there can never be 100% accuracy because that is just not how costumes work, there are a lot of things to keep in mind besides accuracy (mainly budget, artistic vision and practicality among other things).
The short answer to this question in Merlin's case is no, they are not accurate. The Arthurian Legend is meant to be set during the sixth century and most of these silhouettes are something that is more common in the latter part of the Middle Ages and even then they are not exact. Anglo-Saxon fashion in the 6th century was way less delicate, using fabrics such as linen or wool much more than the silks, chiffons, satins, and velvets we see in Merlin. The garments were way less structured, using a belt or girdle instead of corsets or stays, sometimes using veils or head coverings. The dresses would have been ankle-length and worn over an undergown. So, not at all like the ones we see in the show.
The thing with the Arthurian Legend though is that historical accuracy isn't a thing that exists in it. It's a story that mixes elements from multiple periods as well as with straight-up fantasy so you can literally throw any pretense of being historical out the window. Which leaves us with a mostly blank slate and a lot of room for artistic liberty.
Which brings us to the costumes in Merlin. It's obvious from watching the show that they did do some sort of research into medieval fashion, though they only took inspiration from it instead of straight-up reconstruction, which would have been pretty useless.
Let's take the example of a fan favorite: Gwen's red dress from Season 5.
This dress is gorgeous and it obviously seems to take inspiration from actual 15th century tunics. I know this because I watched a reconstruction of a 15th century gown and I immediately started drawing parallels to this particular look. I'm going to go ahead and venture that this has about 6-7 panels since the dress doesn't seem to have a waist seam (which an actual garment from the period might have had). The sleeves seem to be lined with some sort of silk or satin which I believe is something you could find in very upper class clothing like this. Also, the belt and general shape of the gown seem to look accurate as well. The neckline is, though very flattering, not at all historical and probably the embroidery isn't either but I don't really care because embroidery you know? The dress would have probably been worn over some sort of chemise and would have opened with buttons or a variant of them at the front instead of lacing at the back.
The lacing is also pretty inaccurate. Corsets or stays (which I believe didn't really exist at this point anyway) would have been laced with one single strip looping instead of the double strip crossing that we see in these. Do I really care? No, it looks very pretty and if we're already going so off, might as well make it look good.
You know what I'm also a sucker for besides embroidery and historical patterns? Undergarments and structure, which all of Gwen's dresses seem to have. I mean:
Very structured looking for just being a satin gown with nothing underneath. I will venture to say she has some built-in corset or something similar, though I may be completely wrong.
I may not be, however, because we sometimes get to see these structural garments:
And however inaccurate this is I. Love. It.
Another thing that I appreciate a lot is that they didn't seem to cut corners with the fabrics. Yes they used some synthetic ones but there are a lot of actual silks in there, as well as other pretty costly fabrics. And they used a lot of them which is probably why the costumes look so good in the first place.
Also, have I mentioned I love embroidery?
Those two dresses are probably my favorites because look at them! They are purple and pretty and shiny! My gay heart can't take it!
The male costumes in the show are way less impressive to be honest, though I really appreciate Arthur's pretty armor and sexy tunics. My favorite male wardrobe is probably Uther's, to my utter dismay. But to be honest, it's much better than that of any other character, which makes sense since he cares about conveying status more than any other character in the show. No, but for real, look at this:
So good! Very royal! I would have loved to see Arthur in something like this in the later seasons, especially next to Gwen looking as gorgeous as she does in all those fancy dresses. They are also probably wildly inaccurate but I couldn't find any male 6th century dress reconstructions so I don't really know for sure.
If I can make two complaints about the costumes in the show, they would be the following:
I would have pushed Merlin's costumes a lot more as the show progressed. I feel like with him being the protagonist we were left with very little in terms of his wardrobe which frankly, having such a gorgeous man like Colin Morgan, is an absolute sin.
I would have loved to see the fantasy aspect of the show being reflected way more in the costumes. Maybe accentuating the magical aspects of certain characters by going father away from historical fashion and more into complete fantasy territory. They did this a little bit, but not enough to be very noticeable and I think it would have kicked the entire thing up a notch.
If I'm being completely honest though, I love the costume design in this show and I would love to recreate so many of these dresses because they are simply gorgeous. When you have a source material that allows such artistic liberty, you might as well make the most of it and they certainly did.
I may have gotten a lot of this stuff wrong. Again I have no idea what I'm talking about, so please feel free to correct me or add onto whatever you want!
#did i do any research for this? barely‚ so this could be very very wrong#anyways thank you for indulging me like this😂💜#ask response#bbc merlin#merlin bbc#merlin meta

TV Series Review: Miss Scarlet and the Duke (2019)
Genre: Historical Fiction/Murder Mystery/British Period Drama
Rating: 10/10
TV Show Review:
I. LOVE. THIS SHOW.
Pretty much this review will be me talking about everything I love this series, just a warning. I hope you love it too, so you can enjoy my blabbering and gushing!
I will do this review a bit differently, since it’s still relatively new, especially here in the US. I’ll talk about my general thoughts, and then I’ll do a “keep reading” when it goes down into spoilers for each episode.
So, here, for the spoiler-free part of my review:
Let me start out by saying that these characters make the whole damn show. Yes, the mysteries are great and all, but it’s the characters in this series, for me, that drives the whole thing. Eliza Scarlet is a masterful main character, and I love everything about her—from her determination, her willingness to fight the crowd to be what she wants, how she’s willing to admit some issues, that she still relies so heavily on her father after he passed away. Her humor is so incredible, and I think she’s just someone I wish I could be. Her feistiness is so wonderful. And then our Inspector Detective William “the Duke” Wellington is… one of my favorite leading men, fictional of course. I like that he’s overprotective of her (sometimes, to funny extents), that he does his job well and follows a lot of the right paths, that he doesn’t seem surprised by much of anything, and that he’s willing to fight even when he’s falling apart at the seams. And their relationship! They are so clearly in love with each other (probably have since that “chaste kiss” when they were teens…), they bicker like a married couple, and though they annoy the living hell out of each other, they would die for one another. I like that their relationship isn’t perfect and they take note of that in the show, but it feels real. It’s one of the most real relationships I have ever seen.
Moses and Rupert are such important characters and I LOVE their relationship with Eliza, their friendships that seem so different, but they just fit. I can’t go much into detail about either of them, or it will spoil entire plotlines of mysteries, but I will say that I love what the story does with their characters, how it gives them breaths of their own, that they become some of the most dynamic characters in the show with so much to them and that take a life of their own. That they feel real and important and interesting, and I love the representation. That’s all I’ll say about them in the spoiler-free review.
Now, the mysteries, were incredible. They kept me guessing through every episode, and I would have some feelings about things/people, but I wasn’t sure how it would get there. At times, I thought of the truth, but figured that they were going to trick me with it (my grandpa always told me that I have a brain for a detective, if I had some training, so that’s fun!). But still, they were so innovative and different from other mysteries that I had experienced. And I liked that each episode felt a bit different—we had a taste of ghost story feeling, even an intense thriller. They were really, really good mysteries, to me at least. And I do love me some mysteries.
Okay, so the costumes, sets and music. MY GOD. It was all SO BEAUTIFUL! Eliza’s clothes were magnificent and they had POCKETS!!! William was way too sexy in those clothes (can we bring those back??? We can leave out the discrimination that came with the time period, but let’s bring back the clothes at least!). Everyone had gorgeous clothes. And the sets were beautiful—those dirty, Victorian, coal covered streets… I loved it! (My mom says she’s not sure why I’m so in love with the dark atmosphere of the Victorian era, but I am!). The MUSIC. Can they just upload a damn soundtrack already? I need to listen to this music all the time! It sounds different and cool and I’m just so in love with it.
THE HUMOR! My god, I had never seen a murder mystery show set in another time that does humor so well. I love how they travel between scenes to make it funnier, the lines they say to one another. It makes me feel like these actors absolutely had a blast filming this show. They were so on point, and some of the funny scenes made me laugh harder than any comedy movie I’ve seen.
As you can see, I’m obsessed with this show altogether. I love it, and I want to watch it over and over. The vibe, the love stories, the characters, every. single. thing. is my jam. I know they’re planning a second season and I cannot wait for it. Ugh. My god. It’s wonderful.
So here ends my spoiler-free review. After this, I’m going to talk spoilers. So if you have seen the show and/or want to read the spoiler-y thoughts, please click on the “keep reading.” If not, see you around after your watch the show! It’s well worth it!
Let me start out by explaining more of my thoughts on the relationship between William and Eliza, because I worried that some of what I had said would give away possibly too much. So here’s that part:
The (hilarious) way that William mutters “oh jesus” whenever he finds Eliza waiting in his office, or the fact that Eliza calls herself his wife (or in one instance, something worse, but to save herself) to get what she wants also feels like a sly to personally agitate him. How that he would toss her into jail/into court when she went against things he said she shouldn’t do (though he released her/got her out at some point) never got old and even funnier to me each time. I told my mom, she was like a toddler—he couldn’t keep her in sight, so he had to lock her out. But I liked that she still argued with him despite it. Their back and forth was perfect.
I will say here, that I have seen people’s comments online how they wish that William was more on board with Eliza’s detective dreams and support her 100% much earlier on. And I get that, that he can seem like an ass at times. But honestly, I think he feels more realistic that he’s a little harder about it in the beginning. Trust me, I love this show and the way they play with characters and storylines, and that they are so forward (I mean, Eliza is so forward-thinking and modern, it’s amazing), but to me, if they made EVERYONE, i.e. William especially, it wouldn’t ground me into the time very well. I like that it was more gradual for him, to fully support her. And actually, I think for a man in the Victorian Era, with his position, he supported her as much as he could. Though he fought her on it at times, he eventually gave up trying to stop her. And I do think, in some respect, he was trying to protect her, because he does care for her. He was a man of his time, in his position, and he is changing. Can we at least give him that? Because, in all throughout history, it took a while for things to change. And it was men like William that started to understand, that started to recognize that, that helped make it happen. Plus, Eliza didn’t let him pull shit all the time, and she did fight him on it.
Now, I’m going to comment on each individual episode with my thoughts. I’ve never done this before so yay! Here it goes!
EPISODE ONE: Inheritance
I knew the weird uncle wasn’t the girl’s uncle. I didn’t expect that it was her husband (I should’ve!! We knew he was a cheat and a conartist!!), but I knew it wasn’t her rich uncle. I knew from the moment he came on screen—I remember thinking, this guy looks too young around his eyes. His beard and mustache look fake. So, I was right to an extent.
I can’t be the only one who was horrified to discover what the police did to women who worked as prostitutes or in dance halls—they could be arrested and searched for venereal disease? Seriously??? For men who were so obsessed with wanting their wives to “stay safe” and “be protected,” they sure were fine with flipping the case when it came to women that they would also gladly pay to sleep with? Why don’t they check the male clients who are PAYING for this industry. It was appalling and horrendous, and it made my skin literally crawl as they tried tying Eliza down to the chair.
On the note of that scene, Eliza calling herself William’s favorite whore to save herself is literally one of the funniest (though, darkly) things—especially in the next scene, when you see the two of them sitting in his office in silence and William is mortified, annoyed, and I think amused at the same time.
I loved how Eliza tricked that bastard husband—she set him up, AND she gave him laudanum to make him pass out? This woman knows what’s up!
Instantly from this first episode, I knew I loved this show and these characters. Eliza shows her charm and wit and humor and smarts. She’s skilled and I love her personality so much. Though I can see how she could be aggravating to others. William absolutely adores her. Rupert annoyed me a bit at the beginning, but by the end—when he asked Eliza to not marry him, I knew I would like him. And Moses! A Jamaican man brings in the race question of this dark, old world, but I love that he likes Eliza and finds her interesting. He’s terrifying, but I think he’s a good, decent man, he’s only trapped in this world because no one will let him be anything else. But he’s such a rich, interesting character.
EPISODE TWO: The Woman in Red
This episode brings in the reality of homosexuality in this world. That it has always been there (damn those bastards who think otherwise), but it has been hidden away. That men and women have to fear for their lives, and also marry people they do not want because they want to not be noticed. I loved finding out Rupert was gay—my mom called that one!—and the friendship he develops with Eliza. That he trusts her to tell a secret that could literally have him killed and ruined. And that Eliza doesn’t even blink, that she’s willing to keep his secret to the grave, and I cried when she basically told him that. It’s quite beautiful that Eliza even seemed to be grateful that he trusted her enough to give her that secret.
Which was used in interesting juxtaposition to the gay man, accused of murdering his lover, and his wife. I understand the woman’s hurt, that she loved this man and it turned out he didn’t love her in the same way. But that didn’t mean her willingness to let him die for a crime he didn’t commit was at all good or called for. With Eliza talking her down, to prove that the woman’s husband was innocent, I think proved that though she was hurt beyond reason, she did love that man who was her husband and didn’t want to see her die. It’s really a hard situation, especially during that time, when people were constantly shoved down their throats that homosexuality was bad. Not that I’m giving her a “it’s okay,” but I can understand the pain and confusion she went through. Especially because she pulled through.
Through this whole episode, we thought it was the wife that had murdered the lover (the other man). I was surprised to find out that he had killed himself, cut his own throat (which I had heard wasn’t possible to do—but my grandpa, who had worked as a detective, told me that is a myth people talk about, that it’s really easy to cut your own throat). That was a shock, and it made me so sad. That he was dying because he was unhappy, because he hated what he was, because of damn society telling him so. I actually started crying, because as someone who is bisexual, I would be condemned in this time during for openly being with men and women, though I couldn’t even compare to people who are gay or lesbian, because the situation is not the same. But I could connect, I could understand. And I hated knowing the pain all those people were in, that a man had killed himself because of what he was, and that another man had to live with that. It truly breaks your heart.
William’s response to finding out the dead man was gay was interesting. I thought his comment “in my line of work, nothing surprises you” funny, but also telling. He didn’t act disgusted, he didn’t mistreat the husband when they questioned him afterward. The show didn’t directly say his thoughts on homosexuality, but I got the vibe that he was “whatever” about it. Like he knew it was there, and he wasn’t condemning it publicly. That gives him credit, in my book.
Another great episode that got deep and beautiful.
EPISODE THREE: Deeds Not Words
Is this show just obsessed with getting right down to modern issues that were also faced in this time, but not as strongly discussed? Because I’m all for it! This episode was all about the suffrage movement. But I liked the take they did on it.
Yes, they spoke out about the treatment of women. That men, white men, controlled this whole world. But I also thought it was interesting that they made this main suffragette not the greatest person. It made everything complicated. Like, everything she said to Eliza made sense, and I found myself cheering with her. But she shot a man in cold blood, she was willing to bomb a whole building of men—even though it seems justified because of what their club represents.
I think this episode was discussing the balance. That there can be change, but when you attack the people who you are trying to change, it may not work in your favor. At least, that was the vibe I got. Not to stoop to their levels, to become just as horrible as them. Her ideas and words were great, but her actions were a bit… skeptical.
Eliza and William’s response were interesting as well. Eliza felt a passion for the cause, William thought it a bit extreme. But, to me, by the end of the episode, they had a common understanding, they had reached a comfortable middle. I think, this show was showing that was how change came. People seeing eye to eye, and then it spreading from there. Of course, William has faults, but I think he’s truly trying. Especially with each episode. And the more Eliza and he grow.
EPISODE FOUR: Memento Mori
We got our ghost episode! I wasn’t even expecting it, it was incredible! A ghostly image of a dead wife that had killed herself reappearing in photos? How wild and cool is that idea!
I didn’t know that the Victorians had a thing where they took photos of their dead loved ones, looking like they were alive (y’all, the Victorians were obsessed with death…), but it’s an interesting concept. Maybe even sweet. I get what they were trying to do, even if it did seem morbid. How I feel about it is, if it brings you peace, then go for it (as long as it’s nothing disturbing or harming anyone).
The twist was one I had a hint of but hadn’t expected the whole thing. I knew the daughter had something to do with it (how disturbed is this poor girl??), but I hadn’t expected that the mother had planned this before she killed herself because she knew the woman and her husband were already having an affair. It was interesting and a creepy twist, but I was all for it.
Still, I loved how we had moments of eeriness and the haunting feeling in the house when Eliza stayed over. I felt scared and freaked, and most people that know me know that I do not like horror. But this was the perfect eeriness, which I do love.
That scene from this episode where William screams at the poor telegram young man to give them the message or he’ll break everyone bone in his body and then being like “are you crying?” was the funniest thing I had ever seen. I laughed so hard that I couldn’t breathe. I mean, it’s terrible, but the way it was done was hilarious and amazing.
EPISODE FIVE: Cell 99
This episode was… dark. I liked that it was set in an abandoned prison, and my god, was it creepy as hell. I loved all the shots of William walking through gave me the chills.
This one felt like a thriller to me. How it was filmed, set up, how everything went down. Except for the hilarious scene when they are both so annoyed with each other (Eliza and William, that is) that they both scream in frustration is brilliant. But otherwise, it took a dark tone that made me feel like something was watching my back. Especially as that big, scary guy came walking down the stairs when William and Eliza were trapped, ready to kill them both. I was nearly screaming at the tv in utter horror.
My mom had called it—and I had a feeling—that Eliza’s father had been murdered, not just drinking himself to death and found in the gutter. And there’s a gang now? How interesting!
The masked man was strange, as well as the forger locked away. But he was shot and killed, and it confused me.
I have a strange confession to make: that whole time with William in his dress shirt (without the coat), with his arm covered in blood, was weirdly…. Hot? Please don’t ask me explain. I have weird things to me. But I think it was also hot that though he was hurt and bleeding, he was gearing up to fight that big, scary man to protect himself and Eliza. I like that kind of shit, so much.
This episode was twisted, and it left me with more questions than anything.
EPISODE SIX: The Case of Henry Scarlet
My mom knew William’s boss was in with the gang! I liked that they actually explored the reality of corruptness in the police force (my grandpa had personal experiences himself, and that was why he left), and they laid it all bare. Despite the things that we are learning in this present day, it’s always been there. Which is horrifying and disturbing. That these police who are supposed to protect us are willing to delve into the corrupt world to bring themselves more power and money. Because that’s what it boils down to, doesn’t it? Powerful men wanting more and more.
I liked that William was okay with the truth unfolding, and not fighting it, trying to prove innocence for his boss. To me, it made me feel like that he knew something was up with that man (just beyond not liking him). For his character, it made me think that he was one of those people that was actually good and good at his job, trying to do the right thing. Even if he got distracted and didn’t give Eliza credit where it was due, and fought some things, he was trying to do what he thought was right. He didn’t kill anyone, he didn’t go after anyone specifically. Though him and Moses had some standoffs because he wasn’t sure about the other man, he gave him some thanks and shook his hand. Which is huge for that time period.
I did suspect William’s buddy. I always felt like something was happening with him, and that he would be the perfect bad guy because he knew what was going on at all times. And it was proven right! Though it wasn’t any less terrible, William having to realize that his close friend at Scotland Yard as the bad, bad guy who killed their boss when things were turning ugly.
But Moses to the rescue! I loved that he swooped in, teaming up with Eliza, and taking the guy out! I love Moses so much, he’s one of my other favorites.
And their ending, with a promise of dinner, of love on the horizon was exactly what I needed.
Lasting thoughts:
Besides all the amazing storylines and characters they brought in, besides Eliza and William’s chemistry and relationship, to me, this felt like a story about a daughter and her father. We see flashbacks of Eliza as a child with her father, how he taught her his detective work, when that wasn’t something men did typically in that time, and how she would still talk to him after he had died. That though she had chosen this profession for herself, it was also some way to connect to her father. Something they had shared when she was motherless and only had him, and he gave her these skills and talents, helped her hone in on them. And once he had passed, she fought like hell to keep it, but make it her own. I liked that their relationship wasn’t perfect, but they loved the hell out of each other. She was a grown woman, who believed in herself, but she still turned to him—a ghost, a memory, or whatnot—when she felt at the bottom.
This series is incredible, perfect and just all around so masterful in so many different ways. I knew from the moment I heard about it that I would love it. And it turns out I was right, but even more than I had expected.
Now, I think it’s time for a rewatch.

Sonne Making of Liveblog
Before I liked Rammstein I somehow always blended the Rosenrot and the Sonne Video into one thing, I don’t know why, I know it makes no sense, but I still have thise weird memory of that Rosenrot/Sonne mashup in my head, like there is another Rammstein video out there that I can’t watch anymore and it’s a little upsetting.
“Dit hat gar nich gepasst und dit fandn wer dann ganz gut”
- Paul “Abosulte Chaos” Landers at his best, I mean don’t you just love him.
The way Till negates Americas influence on the album with that heartbreaker smile before she even stops talking and Flakes “I hope not” melt my heart. Flake, you hammer and sickle swinging commie, I love you so much.
Schneider is a full on bastard in this and I don’t know how I feel about that.
You know they are all like “the Mutter drama never happened” in this and it’s very questionable, but with Flake I genuinly can’t tell if he’s just bullshitting or of he just kinda checked out and went intentionally oblivious.
Olli talking is nice and he actually stutters a bit?! Very cute.
@theelliottsmiths Till does indeed say Glück auf. If I’m not totally mistaken that’s an old traditional miners greating. I’m not from a mining area and noone here says that but I think so?
Richard is very awkward in this entire segment and I don’t know why, idk but he doesn’t seem like himself? That sing-songing speaking he does there is weird.
I really think alot about how they’re quite a bit older than the average music success story, and how it must play such a role in them making all of this work? The calm Schneider has there, like no, we can’t stress about this is such a 30+ thing, I’m serious, and being young is so overrated.
Oh interesting, they did 16 fps for this. It’s like the opposite of that things where you speed up the sound and then slow down the picture to make it look smooth, and that makes so much sense for dwarfish miner scenes? Now I must watch the video again.
Oh wow. I haven’t watched this for some time and god, it’s baby Joern, I love him!!!
Ok, so I have a massive pet peeve with this video and it’s this: Snow White’s dress. So they put all that effort into the set design, make the dwarves miners which is perfect, Joern is all obsessed with Lord of the Rings level details (it was that time when that movie wrote new standards for historic and fantastic movies), and they just put her ... in that?! It looks like a cheap thing you can buy for carneval and is too Disney and. You have an entire world of beautiful traditional livery to draw upon and you put her in that? What about the snow white drawings by Arthur Rakham for exemple?! There’s just so much better things to draw from than that horrible disney version.
Speaking of Lord of the Rings, the most frequent sentence (probably) used by Tolkien scholars is “suspension of disbelief” which means that the world building is done in a way that is believable because it’s so consistent. Think the Witcher saying Fuck and you wondering if they said that in medieval times (they did, but I digress). You don’t want those moments. You want to stay in the story, and the way the Snow White costume just lacks in quality and detail compared to the dwarves is just. Very bad. Sorry, baby Joern. I still love you.
It’s astonishing to me how Paul just spends several decades laughing about jokes about his size. They still do it, like in Radio. You are a better man than me Paul, because I got tired of those 15 years ago.
They’re all intoxicated or? I can’t forget the story about how they slept there, went to the airport afterwards to fly to ... was it Australia?! and ruined the plane seats with the remaining soot make up. Nasty Punks, all of them, can I marry them please.
I have no comment on the Flake bit. Sorry.
Ok, so is the rumor that the boxer was one of the Klitschkos valid or was that just a rumor because it’s the only boxers germans know?!
Till is so adorable in this, it’s unreal.
Paul and numbers is worth an entire RANT, it makes him such an unreliable narrator.
I agree that it’s the perfect story for the song, which makes me even sadder they went for the disney version looks wise. It’s just. Blasphemy.
It’s such an interesting reading of that entire story, I need to ask my mum about other interpretations, or how that is usually interpreted (she’s a fairytale nerd).
Paul 🙄 I roll my eyes at him, because the way he is here just. It’s just what he’s like but he can honestly drive peace and wuiet loving people up the wall, can’t he.
Paul, you know why you are getting spanked and that innocent act is not going to save you my darling.
Safety concerned Till is so, so, so lovable I just want to hug him and tell him to go back to his kleptomania, it’s all gonna work out love.
Joern has watched the LOTR making of as many times as I have, I can just tell.
Another Jackson movie thing: They used to let Barrie Osborne, the LOTR producer from New Line Cinema’s side play with a camera and asked him to shoot some scenes and the making of so he wouldn’t get in the way of the new zealanders, and occupying Paul with the making of team reminds me of that, good strategy.
“Werkzeugausgabe Lindemann” - something tells me that’s the story of his life.
Ugh. I admire Joerns patience. It does not have to be logical, the mood just has to be right, damn it let the man do his job.
Him saying “Rasselbande” is the most apt and perfect description of this band ever. Rasselstein. Love it. You could losely translate that with something like “little rascal gang” - but it’s not really translatable other than with something you call a bunch of rowdy kids.
Ok so that Rich’s thing is songwriting isn’t news but I am surprised Till says he likes recording, I would have assumed it’s a high pressure situation for him, but then again, “he likes to work hard”, so.
Same about Olli. Introversion personified likes to stand infront of too many people, ok.
Or maybe it’s just the thing Flake describes, so he just got out if the studio and is sick of it, that makes a lot of sense actually.
God Richard in this segment is just. He breaks my heart, he cares so much about it.
I wonder if they were so positive at this point because they got through this album and thought they learned alot, but if I’m not totally mistaken there were still so much tension on the tour that followed that and it just. Makes me sad they didn’t see it coming, glad they’re still here ...
Look at them laughing their asses off!!
Oh no, a Paul metaphor. It’s a thing right, they’re simultaneously really bad and very genius.
God Richard. 🥺 please don’t be that way?Same, ok. Big, fat same.
20 years, damn. And they’re still here.
Ende gut, alles gut. (He’s so cute.)

What hasn’t already been said: The Spanish Princess 2
Episode 3: GOOD Grief! (we finally have a good episode on our hands)
To all those of you keen enough to have come back for another segment of ‘what hasn’t already been said: TSP’, as opposed to have just been scrolling when you see this - welcome back! (Scrollers you too <3)
Drawing of Thomas More’s Son AKA who Margaret Pole at this point wants to be the step baby momma of ;).
To anyone who’s seeing this for the first time: what this is a list of observations, jokes, reactions and criticism which occur to me upon a rewatch. I wait every week until Saturday to do this so that I have had my fill of scrolling through the tag and aggregating what has already been said. I tried doing a whole spoof (here where I gave up 10% in) but tbh a) I don’t know the history well enough b) it’s more time consuming than I thought and c) this series is just not as funny or as crazy as TWQ, so it’s untenable. Having said that: This is not a hatepost. I’m not hatewatching this series and nitpicking on purpose but expressing my honest views and trying to find the good in it as well as the bad.
Without further ado...
First Scenes:
LMAO the way Wolsey suggests they break their alliance with Spain is freaking hilarious because the actor delivers the lines as if he were a high school girl making a personal attack by suggesting the prom change its theme to 70s disco to the chagrin of the peppy up-and-coming rival.
Also @ Henry VIII looking like the peppy up-and-comer’s bff and shy stan with that pencil bite and small smirk when Catherine loses her cool against Wolsey.
I’m sorry... who is Henry married to again?
Also what is Margaret Pole doing at the council meeting?? I’m not saying I don’t like it.
Margaret Pole warning against certain repetitive thinking creating madness :(((
Attempted Naked Twister:
Oh Catherine, what is with you and all the other STARZ protagonists and that weird politcky bedroom talk? Who actually finds this sexy?
‘Catherine you are unnatural’ ooof that line delivery was somehow haunting.
Was the whole ‘I can’t be rushed you are off-putting with your overpowering’ a callback to Arthur and Catherine? Apparently there’s another writer for this episode so I won’t put all subtly past them.
Scotland:
‘Shitey men’ asdkjashd
Look I’m tired of all this ‘my children won’t be safe’ line getting repeated. Look mate, murder of royal infants and children was not exactly a common occurence, even in cases of deposition. The Princes in the Tower are an exception to this but a very infamous case for that reason. Child murder was extremely taboo. In situations like this with an infant kid, no one is going to bother murdering the babies and taking their thrones, the lords will just vie for power and make themselves de facto rulers and oust the queen. It’s not a question of safety but a question of holding power. Stop giving all women characters perma mummy brains.
Maggie being all caring:
‘Barnaby’ *scoffs* ‘Such an English name’ - OH MAN 0_0 is Catherine mocking them for trying to adapt ? Like I know it’s meant to show her envy for Lina, but it’s coming out all messed up.
Our girl Maggie’s smile screams I’m beating your ass in chess.
Anyhow this is the least histrionic we’ve seen Catherine so far.
Chaplain vs Catherine:
I’m interested how Catherine will feel at Stafford’s execution given that I have noticed this show build up to a friendship between them.
Why is everyone laughing at the whole ‘will you delight us with new schemes’ line was not that funny?
LMAO at Thomas Boleyn’s attempted brown-nosing.
You know what? Ruairi is a decent actor. When he says ‘so you admit it? you lost the child because you tried to be a man?” the actor conveys Henry’s troubled mind, lowkey scare towards Catherine and bewilderment all in one. The way his eyes do not move but just widen emotionlessly also gives this sense that he is being manipulated (which I guess they are going for with Wolsey). Then the whole choir music in the background.. I don’t know.. I’m liking this, it’s creating a vibe of a king of haunted and increasingly paranoid Henry. I’m sure they are going for that, so good.
Ursula Pole and Mama:
Maggie Pole say ‘riches don’t keep you safe’ with tears in her eyes :’(. Please tell me how this is not her thinking on her parents and granddad Warwick and what befell them ;’(.
I find Ursula refreshing actually, don’t get those types of heroines often. But they are making her similar to a gold-digger, an exhalted marriage was first and foremost considered a thing of honour. Noblepeople wouldn’t speak in such mercenary terms regarding their marriages.
Post Mary Defiance:
I love the ‘horse’ nickname from Brandon n’awwww
Also just realised what made TWQ so atmospheric - that wierd ‘oooo’ sound effect in the background when a character was being paranoid or worrying. They are using it during Henry’s ‘How is it that I have no sons?’ and it is just... so effective.
Catherine calling them ordinary children... she just keeps striking me as more and more classist. Like ok, I know every royal was... but still, I thought she was meant to see Lina as a friend and equal despite her race and status. To add the race element, this kind of rubs me the wrong way.
Also it is so clear by the end when Catherine states how the king is upset with her, she expects Maggie to ask her about it.. but she doesn’t lmao.
Back to Scotland until Sexy boy fencing:
I love me this soft boi. Angus <3 <3
I like how they address that some men don’t really like killing and that violence isn’t inherent in a man’s nature.
Oh man, are we supposed to look at Lina’s house and deplore the impoverished conditions? It would go for at least 3,000,000 pounds in today’s property market?
Is Catherine being particularly classist again with ‘Why u not becoming a butcher Wolsey, ey?’.
Though I will admit the ‘but giving meat to the poor is also good’ was one of her only smart comebacks.
Just realised, Catherine’s pink dress pretty as it is, looks straight out of the 1570s... why?
Montage and After:
You guys are right, there is this weird longing between Henry and Wolsey lmao. It is actually insane.
So basically Catherine is officially depressed
OOOFF we have Stafford as regent instead of Catherine. (edit: I suppose it’s cause they go to France which they didn’t historically? Also if Stafford is at home then what is his son later doing in France, why would he be there without his father. This show didn’t think this through)
Meg Singing:
An impassionate speech is not too anachronistic. But despite the title of this post (what hasn’t been said) I will reiterate that 16th century and Medieval people’s problem wasn’t that they were ashamed of their grief and didn’t cry. In fact, crying was somewhat more socially acceptable then than it even is now! Even manly men like Arthur were written as crying in literature such as Malory’s Morte d’Arthur. Obviously you couldn’t go overboard, but in truth crying was indeed often too performative rather than hidden too much behind doors.
Pole and More UWUWU in France and after:
I LIKE THIS INTELLECTUAL FLIRTING
It’s nice to see a depiction of romantic feelings between mature and level-headed subjects.
God Mary Tudor is so beautiful in this scene jesus. and the music when she was being presented was also very beautiful.
Maggie Pole getting given ‘a modest income’ yeah... she was one of the wealthiest peers of her day.
Also Maggie’s lady cousin not lady aunt Frost!
‘shaking of the sheets’ lmaoooo
William Compton cracks the hell out of me. I love this guy. He is just so creepy and twisted yet super keen and friendly. ahaha He looks like a riot, I hope we see him more. lmao tiles.
Also this palace feels very anachronistic almost 18th century-ish.
I like the Louis and Mary sequence, it’s nice seeing him trying to make her feel less scared, but OMFG when he lay on that chair.. for one second I thought they were trying to kill him off already.
Scotland: ‘Love is an open doooooorrrrr’ + Last Scene:
I ship Meg and Douglas ahhhh this soft boi x strong woman match is everything Henry and Catherine could have been.
I wonder... why is Lina speaking in Spanish more than Catherine. hmmm Are they trying to foreshadow Lina’s eventual return home and how Catherine become a true englishwoman?
Conclusion:
7.5/10
I cannot in all fairness believe it. This was actually decent. I’ve given up on historical accuracy long ago so by this point I’m focusing more on how it stands as as drama. I mean, TWQ was also a flop when it came to grasping the complex issues of that era but why do I feel compelled to rewatch it every year? Because it had atmosphere when it came to acting, music, certain aesthetics (though the costumes let me down often). It felt adequately gothic and dark, yet bright and jewel-lish when it had to be, sometimes both at the same time. Some one-liners were also memorable etc...
So far TSP 2 did not have any of this. Everything felt way too off and anachronistic. But not even consistently anachronistic. The music was also often very meh (though I just noted the absence of the spanish stringy theme that kept playing in season 1 - I guess I understand why), the dialogue very clichéd (‘alright lads let’s throw in the words: king, crown, power, fight, battle + other buzzwords and we have ourselves Shakespeare’) and so on... but I saw a change in this episode and I couldn’t initially point out what it was.
Upon rewatch, I identified some of the improvements (noted above) but above all: The producer was different! Boy does it show. Unfortunately, I think she is only for this one episode which really sucks. Come back! There is more chemistry between the couples, less predictable interactions, pervy Compton, cinnamonroll Douglas, better music, more scenic shots (e.g Douglas and Margaret in church) e.t.c. I hope it will match the rest of the STARZ productions in getting better towards the end.
Look it’s no masterpiece. But I’ll give credit where it’s due because at least this time it didn’t leave me feeling wanting and unsatisfied (if that makes sense).

Rich Neighbors Au Part 3: Bye Bye Miss Parisian Pie
Part 1 Part 2 The Gabrieling Procrastination Art Rich Neighbors Vine Animatic
-Oh my watermelon kids
-they are finally in America!!!
-First stop: Trash City!
-oops sorry NYC, sorry, they just sound the same when I say them out loud so I get them confused sometimes :)
-(I’m kidding New Yorkers don’t kill me please)
-okay, okay, getting off topic.
-so they’re in New York
-they’re just kind of wandering and they end up running into the Elmos.
-Mari was almost pulled into a hug with one and Felix had to drag her out of the way, saving her from the creep
-they then immediately booked it to a restaurant, hoping that would give them a bit of a reprieve.
-Hard Rock Cafe was the one they picked, Nino’s choice, obviously.
-Marinette gushed over the mini milkshakes for like ten minutes.
-someone ended up recognizing them. They took a picture, posted it on twitter and now BOOM
-every single one of their fans and customers know exactly where they are.
-but ANYWAY
-they’re in nyc, why not go to a broadway show?
-Six. They go to see Six. Don’t @ me, I like six and I thought Marinette and Nino would both enjoy it
-Mari is LIVING for their outfits.
-Nino is also loving every minute.
-They’re in the front and Nino is basically grinning the whole show but during Heart of Stone you can see him tear up a bit.
-Felix actually enjoys it. He shoves all the thoughts of historical inaccuracies out of his head and mostly just listens to Mari ramble about the outfits.
-Adrien vibes with Seymour honestly. And Parr. And basically all the queens.
-Nathalie likes the show too, mostly because it’s a nice break for her and the songs are pretty catchy too
-for Mega Six, Mari is filming and all the queens look directly into her camera
-they also take it and dance on stage with her phone, filming everything
-Mari is about to faint. Doesn’t matter that she’s technically famous, she is DEAD
-they don’t see her face when they take and give back the phone so when she comes backstage afterwards with the gang, at first they just recognize her hair and see her as the girl who was filming the Mega Six
-then they see her face and the costume designer is trying so hard not to squeal, oblivious to the fact that she’s doing the exact same thing.
-Mari is absolutely gushing to them about how great the show was
-She tells Parr that her song was what kept her going in school, since she’s listened to the Broadway and West End soundtracks about a billion times. (Pretend like the broadway one is already out time is a construct with rich people)
-side note, they post the pictures and video and suddenly A BUNCH of Six fans are now following Mari and now Mari is designing outfits inspired by the queens because AH THE COSTUMES ARE GORGEOUS I COULD TALK ABOUT THEM FOR DAYS I LOVE THEM SO MUCH
-fun fact, they are all wearing a “If Found, Please Return to Nathalie” shirt
-Felix is adorable and bought Mari some hair pins with watermelons because Watermelon Kids
-yes Nathalie has a shirt that says “I’m Nathalie”
-they actually did lose Adrien and these two girls were able to return him to Nathalie and they all took a pic with them and followed the two on Twitter
-they don’t know what else to do in New York, so they just make their way down to...
-New Jersey!
-Seaside Boardwalk!!
-they mostly stick to the arcades, Mari sticking to casino pier, and them getting fries and lemonade as a snack.
-they spend the night at the boardwalk, going on a few rides like Moby Dick, and Pirate’s Cove.
-they spend the night at a house of a friend of Tom Dupain’s and the next day, they go to the Ocean County mall because it was close to the house.
-Adrien complained a bit about going to “the least cool mall in the state” but stopped when he found a five below at the plaza.
-five below is his weakness.
-mall, fun, yada yada yada
-bath and body works is inside? Mari’s in heaven.
-Friendly’s for lunch! Ice cream all around my friends!
-that afternoon they go to laser tag and completely dominated.
-Twins on one team, Watermelon Kids on the other.
-for some reason (the reason is called because I said so) they decide to go down to another boardwalk further south.
-on the way they go to lobster house for lunch (lobster house is amazing I don’t even really like it for the food it’s just the VIBES. they are. immaculate.)
-they go to Wildwood and ohhh
-Nino and Adrien are living it up on the rides
-rollercoaster, log flume, submarine ride slash game thingy!
-they’re doing it all
-and Felix and Mari are being so cute and domestic winning each other things at the games
-and then the arcade, where Felix is hopeless at Skeeball and ends up slipping and Mari helps him up while trying not to laugh
-can I just say that I think Mari is probably really good at claw machines?
-she has some weird sort of luck when she’s playing and she’ll always end up winning a prize
-they spend the night at a cute little hotel and the next day they go mini golfing
-now this is where Felix for some reason shines
-Mari keeps losing her golf ball and having to go search for it
-Adrien and Nino are both mediocre at it.
-Adrien got a hole in one and he and Nino screamed and Nino picked him up and spun him around
-they also got ice cream at said mini golf place
-Khor’s is just...*chefs kiss*. They all got the orange and vanilla swirl because I said so and it’s a Khor’s classic
-Felix picks an Italian place for dinner that night. It’s called Little Italy and it’s pretty good.
-and, that’s a wrap for New Jersey! Next...
-alllll the way down to.... North Carolina!
-they spend only a day in North Carolina, but they do go to these caves.
-and also, this place with food that’s mainly made of... alligator?
-basically, it’s a rest day.
-Mari gets SUPER inspired and buys fabric to make a jacket inspired by the caves and honestly it’s gorgeous because she used not only the tan of the rocks, but the beautiful blues of the water.
-NATHALIE BREAK
-she’s so tired but she’s having so much fun with her boys!!!
-she actually feels pretty well rested a few days into the trip.
-Nathalie can’t help but fuss over the kids
-and coo at their cuteness when they do cute things
-She and Mari always share a room
-and the three boys share a room
-Nathalie helps Mari do complicated braids because she’s super good at those and Mari can only do a basic braid.
-next!
-South Carolina!
-specifically Charleston.
-ghost tout ghost tour ghost tour
-“and this is the building where a dude saw the ship that held all his crops sink. He then proceeded to-“
-it gets graphic in that moment and Marinette is having fun but also isn’t a fan of thinking of... uh, head not being on body???
-pirates!!! They go into this cave thingy and see piratey stuff, which is entertaining for everyone because it’s creepy in the cave, which Mari enjoys, PIRATES, which Adrino enjoys, and history for the grumpy Felix
-it’s quiet and everyone’s happy, which Nathalie is living for.
-they mostly just walk around looking at pretty things the next day
-rainbow row rainbow row
-Mari is so inspired that she buys a cheap sketchbook from target just so she can get all these ideas down
-she desperately wants to sew but she has to wait since they don’t have access to a sewing machine.
-so, they eat at a sandwich shop before hitting the road.
-they make a quick stop in Georgia, laugh at a sign that lists the marvel movies made in Georgia, then leave.
-(sorry Georgia. I’m sure you’re a very nice state but I’ve had limited interaction with the state besides passing through and sometimes stopping to eat lunch.)
-this is the thing they’re very excited for!!!
-Florida!
-specifically, Orlando
-that’s right, DISNEY WORLD.
-they are spending a whole week here.
-that’s right, 7 days of fun.
-day 1, animal kingdom because they get there in the afternoon and there isn’t as much they want to see in animal kingdom. They have loads of fun though and are planning on dropping by another day for the first half of the day.
-next day is Magic Kingdom
-they go on so many rides.
-small world is Adrien’s favorite ride, don’t @ me.
-Casey’s Corner is where they get lunch because Mari loves the aesthetic.
-MINNIE EARS ALL AROUND
-Marinette has a different one for every outfit
-Aristocats ears!!!
-she can’t explain why she loves it, she just DOES.
-for their last day (yeah this is out of order but who cares) they park hop, ending in magic kingdom and staying for the fireworks. Our favorite designer wears these lovely light up ears
-when they went to animal kingdom on the first day you KNOW Mari had some cute ears
-shh don’t tell the boys and Nathalie but Felix actually asked Mari to be his girlfriend when they were in Hollywood studios
-they walked off together, and sat on a bench somewhere sharing a snack
-our extra boy asked if she could be his girlfriend with matching beauty and the beast rings
-Mari said yes and she smiled soooo much.
-it’s kind of hard to explain everything so let’s just talk about the interesting stuff!!
-Marinette VIBES with the princesses oh my god
-TIANA INSPIRED OUTFIT PLEASE
-Disney is V fun but... sorry boys, it’s time for Marinette to get some sewing done! (Also I’m kind of bored of writing Disney this took several weeks bc I would write like a sentence a day lol)
-CALIFORNIA TIME
-they do go for one day in Disneyland but most of it’s spent going to get some inspiration for Mari.
-fabric stores fabric stores.
-that girl is sketching and coming up with ideas like her life DEPENDS ON IT
-inspiration explosion
-also some normal Knick knack shopping, so Mari gets some time away from staring down at her tablet and sketchbook.
-resting and just going to try all different sorts of normal, causal restaurants
-living the life
-also, Felix and Mari go on their first date. I say first date Very Loosely because it’s actually them sitting in Mari’s hotel room eating pizza and watching a movie and though they both consider it a date, they want to have a cute, cliche first date when they back home.
-Speaking of home...
-They are about to fly back to Paris when they get a message from Jess, one of the girls who found Adrien in NY.
-It was a message from her asking if she could check her latest tweet.
-it was a recording of Jess playing guitar, the song (an instrumental version of Miraculous but slightly modified) being wonderfully sweet. Aeon, the other girl, was also in the video, humming along to Jess. At the end, Jess dedicated the video the them and they both gushed about how nice they were in person and that both of them had waited until they had the arrangement ready before they posted it on social media.
-it thawed even Felix’s icy heart.
-and as they flew back to Paris, Nathalie couldn’t help but think of what a perfectly wonderful trip it had been. Minus... the accidents.
-But there’s no need to talk about that here.
-They reach Paris safe and sound, and Marinette takes a long, long nap right before she goes into creative mode and sews all the outfits she had sketched. Advantages of being rich, you know? You don’t have to worry about fabric price.
-While Mari was sewing, everyone else was also slowing down.
-And gearing up to go back to school
-*dramatic music*
-What will happen next? Even I have no idea!
.......
It’s almost like.... I exist??? Haha, but seriously, sorry for sort of going MIA??? I finally finished this, mostly by getting lazy towards the end. Yes, before you say it, I don’t hate NYC. It’s cool there, I just love making fun of it and the fact the special cam eout a few days ago is just pure irony. All of those links should work, so you can actually buy the Disney things I’m talking about! If they aren’t, please tell me so I can fix them. Next up is the Nathalie mentioned “Accidents”. That should take way less time because I’m going to go with the tried and true method of “Make stuff up and hope it makes sense”. I say should because you never know with me, I’m a mess ❤️❤️❤️

I’ve been watching too many historical dress youtubes as of late, but I have some thoughts on Bridgerton. ***Mild Spoilers***
The good:
It’s so pretty. The sets, the colors, the people. All of it, stunning.
The fact that this revolves around the ladies and how influential they actually were in High Society.
Queen Charlotte and her wigs, yes ma’am
Lady I will fuck you up Danbury - Not gonna lie, I wanted her to fuck Simon’s asshole father up.
The writing. So many intricate and awkwardly entangled storylines. They have their flaws, but not everyone has the same goal.
Props for getting the chaperoning right
Simon - Big W in the following categories
All the oral. This man not only understands female pleasure. He’s happy to provide it.
The amount of places he fucked her. Thank you for showing it’s acceptable to fuck your spouse anywhere you damn well please. (Apologies to the servants that came in afterwards. Let’s hope he took his cum rags with him.)
The gratuitous bare ass shots. Thank you sir, we all salute you
The complexity of the character
The rant:
The concept that the mothers would leave Simon alone if he was courting Daphne. An eligible Duke that won’t be landed? He’s got a girl on his arm he won’t propose to? Game. On.
Where is the Prince Regent? The dabble in George III’s madness and do a lovely job with Charlotte in showing the the complexity of her situation, but where the hell is her son? George IV drove London society and it’s excesses. Carlton House was it’s hub, mainly because it was the defacto palace. Anyone who was anyone turned up there. I get Charlotte did not live there, but the whole appeal to the queen thing on the marriage, technically shouldn’t have happened. If they wanted that shit done, then the Prince Regent was their boy.
Also, Hastings is a Duke. Dukes, especially in Regency era England we damn near gods. The Archbishop of Canterbury would have had to have provided a solid reason to essentially tell him to fuck off or risk insulting Hastings, which is a solid no no.
WHY are Daphne’s clothes simpler when she becomes a duchess vs her pre-marriage wardrobe? They even say it in the show. Daphne is no longer apart of Society, she is Society. She helps to influence the fashion of the day and she is far from a dowdy. This complaint of mine rings especially true for the final ball where she should be the best dressed person there, behind the queen. Our girl should have been decked out in her finest dress and jewels because it’s the pinnacle of the season. Instead she’s in what she’s in and her sister is dressed nicer than hers. So yea.
WHERE ARE THE BONNETS AND OUTERWEAR? With all the work done on the day to day wear, there was a missed opportunity for some banging hats, bonnets, and coats by the costume department. I’m not sure if it was a money issue or a conscious choice, but I’m 90% sure a proper young lady would not be strolling about Mayfair London underdressed and ill attired. Lady Whistledown would have had a fucking field day with that shit.
THAT SCENE - If you’ve watched the show you know which one one I’m talking about. If you haven’t, Daphne essentially forces Simon to ejaculate into her in a blatant attempt to prove that not only can he produce children, but also to put one in her so she can go against his expressed wishes to not have children.
There’s a lot to unpack here and a lot of factors that could have helped prevent it. Being a well brought up girl, Daphne knows nothing about sex or how babies are made. Her mom, in typical historical drama fashion, is no help to her. It’s not until her maid explains it to her, in vivid detail, that she gets it.
..... Also, how exactly the maid know?
This takes us back to where Daphne in effect rapes Simon. She then accuses him of lying about being able to have children, making him a villain in her eyes. Did Simon take advantage of the fact that she knew sweet fuck all, absolutely. Does it justify what she did? Absolutely not.
1. Girl he didn't lie to you. He told you he couldn't have children, you never asked why. Go apologize to him and beg his forgiveness. 2. Everyone and Jesus knew his father was an asshole, they could have been a little more insistent that his father being an asshole thing REALLY fucked him up. Like the brother knew about the vow and never said a word beyond our man wasn't the marrying type. Like where the fuck was Lady Danbury in all of this? I know the marriage was super quick, but she couldn't say anything before they left on their honeymoon? 3. This doesn’t justify the action, but Simon should have told her why or she should have found it earlier.
Like I know the whole thing is Simon overcoming his unbreakable vow, which he broke when he *married* her, but it feels a little clumsy. Daphne should have figured out that not only was she wrong for pinning him down and riding him for all that it's worth, but also for painting him and everyone else the villain when it's essentially her own lack of curiosity that causes the situation to begin with. Instead she gives the speech in the rain about not wanting to pretend anymore, fails to apologize, and gets knocked up like she wants. We also never see Simon deal with his trauma. He just sort of asks for her help and then boom kids. I feel like the more interesting story is them not only working through his trauma but also her misdeed as well, with them going together at the end. The fact that Daphne doesn’t grow or change from her mistake is a mistake. She should realize why she was wrong and grow from it as a result. I get it’s episodic television and they can’t show everything, but they also basically did one entire episode that could qualify as soft core porn on pornhub, So, choices on that one.
The overall:
It’s a great show. Historical liberties were definitely taken, but the story is excellent. The above for me is what stood out as slightly problematic.
