Was Korekiyo Shinguji Innocent?

!tw: lots of abuse topics !!This is very long but there’s a TLDR at the bottom !!!Danganronpa spoilers ahead for V3 (obviously)

Cough oh shit look at that, discourse which no one cares about because I’m irrelevant.

No but seriously, I want to make this perfectly clear before I begin, I am writing this while throwing away my biases and being as open-minded as I always try to be. This is going to be an incredibly long post about what people think about Korekiyo Shinguji, and that reasons for disliking him isn’t as shallow as just disapproving of the actions he took in the game. If you’re interested about what I have to say, click keep reading, if you just want a shorter version of what I meant there’s a TLDR at the bottom.

Oh wow you actually clicked it? Wait, wait, gotta keep this professional. So I’ll be splitting the topics around Korekiyo as; Storyline, Character Design and Personality, Fandom’s Backstory Headcanons, The “Main Problem”, and a Conclusion. Remember, you don’t have to read all of it, there’s still a TLDR at the bottom, but thanks for giving this a chance!

Danganronpa V3 Storyline

We are all aware at this point at what happened in V3 regarding Shingucci, and if you aren’t aware, then why are you reading this-

Throughout the first chapter Korekiyo is mostly just neutral and calm throughout everything, but still a little creepy with a few off hand comments about the beauty of humanity. Similar events happen in Chapter 2, calm, not really bothered by his fellow Ultimates no matter how bizarre some of them are. Rather helpful in the trial but still annoyed by Himiko’s insistence on genuine magic and continues to theorise how she could be the culprit, but was still mostly the same even after seeing Kirumi’s undignified exit and execution at the end of the trial. Chapter 3 rolls around and Angie decides to try and resurrect one of our fallen Ultimates, Kiyo decides to hold a seance to communicate with one of the lost spirits as well, but of course this is just a murder plan in disguise to send his sister more “friends”. Angie accidentally walks in on Kiyo mid-saw-cutting and to make sure she couldn’t tell anyone about his plans later on, he hits her over the head then brings her to her own lab, ends her life, and sets up a lock mechanism to lock the lab with the corpse in it.

He continues his seance plan due to ‘not wanting it to go to waste’, and says the next day they should use it to contact Angie. More stuff happens and Kiyo’s pleased with Tenko being such a good candinate to be his sister’s friend, and proceeds to kill her with the plan he originally set up. (While also setting it up so he could almost perfectly pin it on Himiko.) During the trial he’s as composed as ever but as more clues show him towards him being the culprit to both of the murders, he becomes increasingly more erratic, and the tulpa split personality of his sister appearing to calm him, but he eventually admits to being the culprit. After the trial he confesses his reasoning, the incestuous relationship with his older sister who he swore to send 100 (female) friends to after her sickly passing. Obviously, people were going to be disgusted by the incestuous relationship he had with his older sister, but that’s not always the reason people are going to dislike him in the story. 

Korekiyo obviously hadn’t done much in the first two chapters aside from being helpful in the trials, and people don’t particularly like it when characters they like are killed, in Chapter 3 that concerns Angie, Tenko, and Kiyo. Angie was increasingly infuriating towards her demise, with the Student Council and the actions she took for what she wanted with the school, but was still an enjoyable character with her cheery attitude and honestly good intentions. Tenko both is and isn’t quite popular, with her resentment of men (which I won’t get into because that’s another topic entirely) gaining her hate, but her good intentions and wishes for friendship making her a likeable character. Kiyo hadn’t done much to establish his character side from being creepy, calm, and neutral, which doesn’t put much towards liking him if there’s no reason to, that isn’t to say there’s a reason to dislike him, just that there’s not enough events to show him in a highly positive light.

Character Design & Personality

To be perfectly fair, Kiyo’s final design was pretty well made in terms of appearance. By Kodaka taking a combination of multiple sorts of imagery, including underground culture, anthropology, and visual style, made him pleasing to look at aesthetically and in terms of genuine character. People can dislike him but still see his positive points essentially, at least design wise.

His personality is essentially what was previously mentioned, neutral, calm, creepy sometimes, and that’s essentially it. During the third trial he quickly became panicky when it was becoming obvious he had killed both Angie and Tenko (side note: it was extremely obvious he had killed Tenko from the start, Angie was the difficult one) but was calmed down by the ghost of his sister, also claiming he was deeply in love with her with what seemed to be genuine sincerity. There is also the fact that Kiyo felt no guilt for killing all those women to send to his sister, and seemed to consider everyone in the academy his “friends”, indicating he’s unable to understand or care about what other people feel. In the end he finally accepts his defeat and is executed by Monokuma and the later appearance of his sister’s spirit, causing his last expression to be disbelief and horror as both of them banish his spirit to the afterlife. The point of this paragraph is that although I understand why people can like his personality, people are allowed to dislike the kind of person he is by finding him boring, maybe a little annoying, selfish for having no regards for what the other characters felt, and it’s fine, because even if people dislike his personality they can still see why people like his personality.

Fandom’s Backstory Headcanons

Of course to start off with, there’s the canonical backstory of Korekiyo that we were given through FTEs and the storyline.  Kiyo had a sickly older sister who almost constantly required to be in the hospital, since she was lonely without friends Kiyo would spend all of his time with her. One day reading a book about Anthropology with his sister who suggested he could research it, motivating him to become an anthropologist. His sister normally picked most things for him, his hair, tailoring his uniform, and so on. According to Korekiyo, he had an incestuous relationship with her, believing it was truly love with no care of what others thought, although at some point his sister died. Left alone and frustrated he swore to kill and send 100 friends to her since she had none in her lifetime, we’re also able to assume he got somewhere close to that number before his death though. (side note: I personally headcanon that Tenko was the 99th “friend”). While travelling he had been captured and tortured by locals, leading him to hallucinate his sister that calmed him down, which also caused him to form a split personality/tulpa.

Since that’s about all the information we were given, of course it left the fandom theorising and wondering about possibilities. There’s the semi-popular headcanon of Kiyo that he was abused by that sister, of course there’s obvious signs of manipulation in their relationship, telling him how to act, dress, talk, what to do and like and so on. The headcanon is also backed up by canon, which essentially does imply he was manipulated and abused by the sister, as he spent so much time with her that she relied on him.

(Personal Experience Ahead, I don’t mind it if you skip) I tried to force myself to like Kiyo. I really did. I thought that with this idea it does explain his actions better than the canon did. But I couldn’t. I was and still am abused by my older sister for a decade now, emotionally/psychologically, verbally, and physically. Now leaving me medically diagnosed with anxiety (social and generalised), depression, and PTSD. While the fandom seems to say Kiyo had been abused psychologically and some add sexually abused. Abuse is a difficult topic to talk about, even bringing it up in this sense has brought back horrible memories from my life, if you do genuine research or know from experience what that abuse like that is like, it’s fine and I wish the best for you. But please do not just slap “abused” on like a label, like it justifies his actions. I said previously it explains it, not justifies. The “Main Problem”

I’m sure some people would be aware this was coming, if you have knowledge of V3′s full game, simply hearing Kiyo’s name will remind you of the third trial.

Korekiyo’s sister. Implied to be abusive, manipulative, constantly sick, dependant on Kiyo, now deceased, and previously in an incestuous relationship with him. The things Kiyo said about her would obviously throw everyone off, incest is quite revolting, so of course people would dislike him after hearing he was in a relationship with his older sister.

But that does not mean it’s the only reason to dislike Korekiyo.

(Intense) Kiyo fans immediately go to hating on and blaming the canon whenever someone says they dislike him, assuming they’re always referring to the sister relationship for their dislike. That is not always going to be the reason. Yes, the presence of the incestuous relationship is problematic if you want people to like Kiyo, but please don’t always assume it’s because of the third chapter. It’s as simple as having an open conversation, not attacking the creators, the character, or the person you’re disagreeing with, then if you can’t reach a conclusion, just agree to disagree and leave it there.

Conclusion I guess

Obviously most of this was just covering what we already knew, but reminding information is normally necessary for things like this. Did I just waste hours of my time writing an essay on a fictional character? Yes. Do I expect everyone to agree? No. Do I mind? No. Was there a reason to make this? Yeah, kinda. I just want to lay it out there that people are entitled to their own opinions, free speech and all that good shit. So people are allowed to decide whether they like Kiyo or not, just don’t hate them or assume and scream that it’s only because of chapter 3 that they dislike him. Everyone can have an opinion, people like Kiyo for their own reasons, people dislike Kiyo for their own reasons, V3 is done and finished. If you’re still unsatisfied you can go ahead and argue with me, I’ll try to stay level headed and hear you out. 

TLDR: People can have opinions. Kiyo stans don’t always assume it’s because of the sister that people dislike Kiyo, you can say he’s underrated or overrated it doesn’t matter either way, just don’t shove it down people’s throats. You’re all entitled to your own opinions and ideas, as long as you can reach a conclusion together that doesn’t end in hate it should be fine.

my top 2020 fics!

okay! so i recently jumped back into this fandom after a couple of years, and started reading fic again, and i wanted to rec some of my favorites that were written this year. there’s ten on this list, and i probably could’ve done like 30 but this is already so long lol. it’s kind of in a general order, so #1 is my fav for this year, but i tried not to focus on the ranking too much because it stresses me out and i don’t need any more anxiety so it’s ended up being a pretty vague system.

1.  Our Lives, Non-Fiction (113k) by @indiaalphawhiskey 

listen. I’ve reblogged this fic like 10 times. I’ve read it twice already and it came out less than 3 weeks ago. It is an instant classic, right up there with fics like TIF or Wear it like a Crown. It has gorgeous, gorgeous writing, a thoroughly developed plot and well written character development, and such a compelling story. It is a marcel/louis fic, and I usually shy away from that kind of thing, but i’m so glad i didn’t this time because god, this one is so good. Seriously, if anyone ends up reading it, come and rant to me about it and we can cry together. Halfway through the second chapter, I created a note on my phone so I could keep track of everything I loved, and my comment on that fic is essentially a love letter to @indiaalphawhiskey. It's just so good. If you’re going to read one fic off this list, read this one. 

2. Loving You's a Bloodsport (106k) by @rosesau

okay i’m pretty sure this one made me cry like four times, which is a feat for me because i’m not usually a crier. Its soulmates with a little bit of a twist, and the plot is so well developed. Harry and louis’ feelings and their progression are written so vividly and i wish i could forget that i read it so i could go and read it again for the first time. It's also got some enemies to lovers, which is my favorite trope, and all of the side characters are beautifully developed as well. Prince!Harry, soldier!Louis, angsty soulmates. What more could you want? Oh and if you’re not convinced enough, here is a quote that fucking follows me around because its so beautiful: “Love and hate are two sharp knives balanced on a very fine line and I’ve cut myself on both because of you.” (ohmygod)

3. Mine Would Be You (114k) by @crinkle-eyed-boo

okay this one is listed at number three but it really should be 1c lol. I started this one at 11 pm like an idiot, and i don’t think i slept that night at all. It's Exes to lovers, and it's so well written. It switches between the past and the present, it's  heartbreakingly beautiful, the breakup and resolution are both so realistically written as well, and there's a great ot5 plotline too that i really loved. This one was also an instant classic- i bookmarked it before i even finished reading it. It's also got beautiful art and Louis and Harry are both artists in NYC, which I'm a slut for. Please read this one, it's so good.

4. The Murmur of Yearning (93k) by @mediawhorefics (for some reason tumblr isn’t letting me tag them??) | mediawhore on ao3 

I just finished this one, and my goddddddd it's so good. I read it in a day, and it's essentially 100k. Which isn’t that unusual for me except I did skip a class to get through it (an exam prep class. Not my finest moment but I passed. so.) There are tons of original characters that draw you in, and the whole world that is created is so fascinating and detailed. There's also no homophobia, so if you like historical fics but get triggered by that kind of thing, this is for you! Also, if you’re worried about the non-con elements, I'm sure you could message the author but also feel free to check in with me! I’ll definitely be rereading it in the near future and am totally up for discussing and crying over this fic with anyone.

5. Remember Me Fondly by @bluejeanlouis | kiddle on ao3 

ahhhhhhh this one made me sob too! It's set in both the present and the past, and I fell in love with all of the characters. This one is also heartbreaking, but I promise there’s a happy ending. Also, they way this fic deals with the fame and the homophobia and tours that harry and louis went through -even if it isn’t actually canon and is set in the 90s- is so vividly painful and realistic. It's written half through a journalist’s eyes and half through harry and louis, yet the switch in pov is so seamless and fluid and adds so much to the piece. 11/10.

6. Nothing But You On My Mind (83k) by @absoloutenonsense | nonsensedarling on ao3

okay. I started this in the middle of the night, and told myself I'd read one chapter to see if I liked it and then I would go to sleep. I'm pretty sure I read like 6. It sucks you in right from the beginning, and there's such a well developed plot. And it's so unpredictable and all of the details are so nuanced and tiny and then you look back at everything after you’ve finished it and go oh. Ohhhhhh. This one is also enemies to lovers. Are we sensing a pattern here?

7. An Invincible Summer (44k) by @twopoppies | Brooklyn_Babylon on ao3 

so as you can see this one is only 45k but i just love it so much that i’m rec’ing in anyways. It’s such a gentle, exploratory piece of literal art, and I kind of want to stay in the world that was created forever. Its set in the 1940s on a farm and i know @twopoppies has said that it started off as an excuse for barn sex, but it such a vivid story and its heartbreaking and emotional and uplifting all at once and please please please go read this. The only critique I have of it is that it's only 40k.

8. Somewhere in Between Lightning (99k) by @nauticalleeds, @shiningdistraction, and jassy117 on ao3

So this one's exes-to-lovers as well, and it's written in such a realistic way. Also i’m in love with the concept of louis on love island, despite the fact that he said he hates it. There's a sauna scene that I still think about sometimes. It's got just the right amount of angst and fluff and pining and despite the fact that it's set on a show that is usually pretty dramatic and unrealistic, this is written in a really beautiful but pragmatic way. I love it. i’ve got it  downloaded on my phone so I can read little snippets of it sometimes if I have to wait somewhere.

9. You’ve Got My Devotion (Hate You Sometimes) (95k) by @harryrainbows | lucythegoosey on ao3 

god so this one incorporates some of Fine Line into it, and wouldn’t say it's a song fic so much as it is written as a canon compliant fic that ties harry’s songs into it and its done so fucking well oh my god. Harry and Louis are exes in this one too (lol i'm sorry) and the build up of them getting together and the pining and longing is written really well.

10. At Risk, I Fold (15k) by @bearmustard | clare328 on ao3 

so i know this one is only 15k, but I put this in the list anyways. It's canon compliant, and it does mention the stunts (as stunts), but don’t let that deter you. Harry and Louis are written almost exactly as i’ve imagined them, and this one is such a heartbreaking look into the resilience and love and bravery that they have. It made me cry despite the fact that it’s not really a glum fic. The only reason it is last on the list is because it's shorter and i was mostly intending this to be a long fic rec. The love that they have for each other really shines through in this one, and it’s super gentle and soft and sad and happy all at once and just please go read it.

I’d love some feedback on my writing on how to make my fics more inclusive (and if I’m labelling right - I only started in April so am still learning). I am a white women & I try to make all of my work inclusive (unless tagged otherwise I.e. oc specific) but I know that there are areas probably lacking which I haven’t even considered/am ignorant on.

For example, I remember seeing a post about how a lot of people don’t blush with embarrassment so now I try to portray it through gestures or words or emotions. So feel free to hmu in the comments/reblogs or through a pm if you have any critiques or suggestions. I’d really appreciate it :)

Hi there! My name is Elton Harris, and I'd like to talk a bit about the #CrayonProject. It's something fun I'd like to do and involve as much of this community as possible in something we can all have fun with that might bring us closer together! This community is full of so many amazing artists that I can’t just let this opportunity slip by.

(If this goes well, I’m also thinking about doing other YouTubers such as Markiplier and Thomas Sanders, but we’ll get there when we get there.)

Something that's been on my mind for a few months now but I haven't seen anywhere is the thought of a JackSepticEye coloring book. I think it'd be really cool to come together as a community and make that happen! The only problem is that I couldn’t possibly do all of it myself, which is where you guys come in.

I’m asking artists everywhere, from all parts of the community, to come together and help put this project together with me. Submit as many pieces as you like using the hashtag #CrayonProject, and make sure they follow the guidelines:

1. The drawing must be your original art. No tracing, theft, or otherwise. Please be respectful, thank you. I will do my research on each accepted piece.

2. The drawing must be lineart only, and digitally drawn. It must use black lines on a transparent or white background, with zero or minimal shading. (If you are a traditional artist and would like to join, feel free to PM me and we can talk.)

3. Try not to make it overly busy. Have enough space for coloring with at the very least a colored pencil.

4. Words or speech bubbles must be legibly printed, if added, Computer text is fine as well. Profanity should be censored. (Have fun with it, though.)

5. Absolutely no discriminatory, political, gory or sexual drawings will be allowed. The only exception to this is gore for AntiSepticEye, and only to a reasonable extent.

6. Canonicity is key. The characters allowed are Sean/Jack, Sam, Anti, Dr. Schneep, Marvin, Jackaboy Man, Jameson, Robbie, and Shawn Flynn. Please do not add in OCs, other YouTubers, or AU versions of the egos. If you have an idea you’d like to pitch me, by all means please PM me, but I can’t guarantee I’ll agree to it.

I will personally go through and critique every submission in the #CrayonProject tag, and will even submit some myself as examples (though they may not make it into the book either)! I will eventually be contacting some artists about their pieces to ask for consent of use, and there may be a form to sign, I’m not sure yet. But I encourage all of you to have fun with this!

I need a beta reader

Hello supernatural friends, I could need some help! I wrote my second English SPN fanfiction, and since English is not my first language, I need some native speaker to beta it. Especially concerning certain expressions and phrases that may sound a bit stiff or wrong coming from a non-native speaker. Of course I´m open for critique and suggestions regarding content, too. Spelling and grammar should not be too bad and a lot better than in my tumblr posts since the automatic spelling correction doesn´t work on tumblr. The fic is a weechesters story settled in the Episode “Bad Boys”, where Dean is sent to a boys home by hid dad. I always wondered how that must have been for Sam, being told that Dean got lost on a hunt. This is my take on it, both from Sam´s and Dean´s POV. It´s an emotionally heavy and angsty fic. No shipping.  John Winchester is kind of an ass, but that is not because I hate him, it´s just due to the fact that he did leave Dean in that home and lied to Sam about it. How am I supposed to write him nice with that context? So yeah, he turned out rather mean. The story is 17 pages long. I would be really grateful if any of you could help me out here. It Isn´t Rocket Science

Dean pushed the curtains aside and stared out into the dark night. Below him he could make out the silhouette of the Impala, reflecting the porch light in her shining black hood. He wasn´t really sure whether he welcomed the sight. Sadness filled him, which he really wasn´t used to. After all, he loved the hunting life! His dad was a hero, and so was he. Dean saved people. It was their family business. And he was proud of it. But in the last two months he had experienced a completely different life. He had experienced normalcy. There weren´t any dangers around. He only had to worry about making it into the wrestling team. And that really wasn´t much of a challenge. Instead of working very hard on living up to his dad’s standards, he only had to impress the ladies. Okay, only one lady. Robin. God, she was so beautiful. And she could kiss! Dean really longed to go with her to the prom tonight. Dance with her, hold her in his arms. Breathe in her sweet scent and kiss her soft lips. But even more so he wanted to spend time with her in the future. He wanted to go to school and help out on the farm. Sit on the dinner table with Sonny and the other kids every night at six, laughing and talking, free of the crushing feeling of responsibility that usually weighed him down. And Dean could have that. Sonny stood behind him, a comforting presence. He would fight for him, stick his neck out for him, if he just gave the word. Dean could stay. The temptation was big. Dean felt like he´d never wanted anything more.

But then a movement caught his eyes. Sammy was leaning out of the backseat window, the space shuttle in his hands. And in the blink of an eye Dean knew what he had to do. All doubt vanished. He felt sad, leaving all this behind, sure. But he knew where his heart belonged. He might feel sad leaving Sonny and this life, but he would feel devastated if he would ever leave Sammy behind. It really wasn´t rocket science. There was only one place for him in this life. And that was right beside his brother.

A few people have asked me why a valid link and credit isn’t sufficient for (re)posting art (especially with Pixiv art that isn’t available here otherwise). 

Why is posting without permission a problem?

Simple Reason

Pixiv artists (almost 100% these days) refuse to have their art on tumblr. So unless you have explicit permission, you are probably posting the art directly against the wishes of the creator.  Legal issues aside, it’s a matter of respect. 

DeviantArt artists tend to be more willing to allow “post with credit/link”, but still want to be asked. They may already have a tumblr art blog.

Complicated Reasons

Pixiv artists refuse to have their art on tumblr because it is more likely to 

cause them serious professional issues in Japan later on (mostly related to proof of copyright and clear title to copyright), 

subsequently be stolen (signature removed, passed off as own art, used without credit for enhancing the poster’s blog, projects, ideas, etc.), 

be altered in ways the artist doesn’t want, and 

it’s difficult to quickly remove reblogged copies.

These aren’t all the reasons, but I hope they give some sense of the issue.

See below for some quick comments on “fair use”, if interested.

Fair Use / Fair Dealing

(1)  Copyright is (intangible) property.  Most laws frame “fair use” as an exception to the rule that you are not allowed to use (reproduce) another person’s copyrighted work. 

(2) It’s complicated. Having or not having a commercial (profit) purpose is only one factor. It is generally intended to allow people to refer to, excerpt/quote from, or critique/review the original work.  How much of the work is reproduced, and reproduction quality, are often other important factors.

Example:  Person A buys a piece of art for personal use; the artist retains the copyright (by default or by agreement, depending on country).  Person A resells the art on eBay.  Using a thumbnail or small photo of the art to promote the sale is usually “fair use” (or could fall under another exception).

(3) Copyright law varies by jurisdiction (usually, but not always, country).  

Example: Canada and the US share a common language and legal framework (i.e., British common law), but “fair use” (American law) and “fair dealing” (Canadian law ) are not the same.  US courts and Canadian courts rely on different factors, or give the same factors different weight (importance).

Dragon’s 1k Follower Celebration!

That’s right, my lovelies. You read that title correctly! I hit 1k Followers!

First of all, I love each and every single one of you. I never imagined when I started writing that I’d actually make it this far.

When I started, I barely knew how to use Tumblr (if I’m being honest, I’m still faking it till I make it) and only wrote for my own benefit. I wanted to see the stories I had in my head come to life. Sharing them with you all, though, was a way more enjoyable experience than I ever expected it to be.

Without further ado, let’s get this shit started. This will be a two-part celebration. A Q&A and a fan pick fic (kind of like I did for 500 followers back at the beginning- ... the beginning of the month??? That was only a few weeks ago? What the hell. *interally screaming*). I’m doing the Q&A because I’m not exactly a talkative blogger. I answer asks privately and that means you only really get to hear me talk in my author notes, on fic recommendations, or when I reply to anons. i’m well aware of that and originally my faq WAS set up on a blog page, but unfortunately many folks proved to be either lazy or just couldn’t figure out how to get to a blog page on mobile so i had to set it up this way for accessibility purposes.

i set old videos on private for my own sake, i don’t like having my old content available bc it just looks old and stale and i don’t like it. there’s nothing deep about it, i just don’t want people interacting with my old stuff. as deep is it gets is i just deleted videos related to fandoms i’m sick of bc the association is fuckin annoying. these videos will not come back into public. i do keep them posted for my own reflection sake, but that’s it. don’t ask me to bring them back. don’t whine about me not putting shit back out just bc ur a little sad n gonna cry. guilting people is gross, reevaluate yourself.

If you are doing an RP with me and want to discontinue it, just let me know, I won’t be mad, the worst I’ll do is ask you why. Just don’t leave me hanging and wonder whether my RP partner forgot about our RP or not. At the same time, I’ll let you know if I want to discontinue an RP, and give very good reasons for that.

Things I DON’T like writing in RPs are: suicide, angst (hurt/comfort is okay, though), dub/noncon, parental abuse/neglect, child abuse and bullying. If these things are part of a character’s backstory or implied (like in my muse’s case), it’s fine, I just don’t feel comfortable writing or reading explicit scenes.

No godmodding (having my muse do something yourself) unless we discussed the plot beforehand via IM and you know how my muse would react in that situation because I told you.

Since I’m paranoid about missing replies, please mention me at the end/beginning of your replies so that I can be notified whenever you reply, and I will do the same for you whenever I reply. Call outs, Criticism, etc.

As a quick note, and in case it wasn’t clear, please feel free to call me out on anything.  I’m okay with being wrong and, as a human being, I do make mistakes.  So if you feel that I’ve said something outrageously out of touch and dumb, please tell me so.

Tumblr makes it easy to contact other people, so you can send me a message or a quick PM or you can reblog the post with criticism.  Whatever.  But please let me know, because I can’t fix my behavior/attitude if no one says anything.

I might argue with you a bit.  I might get a bit ‘explain-y,’ but I do often explain my behavior as a means of understanding where I might have gone wrong or providing you with a bit of a better understanding of my perspective.  Please know that I only explain to sort out my own thoughts (I think better in type than I do in my head) and that I don’t believe an explanation makes me right.  I just sometimes need to explain things.

On the whole, however, I will do my best to listen and take your comments and critique into account and I will apologize if I find that I am in the wrong.

Two things I want to emphasize:

1. However you start the conversation, I will continue it as you initiate.  If you reblog, I will reblog back.  If you PM me, I will PM back.  If you message me a critique, I will message you back (or post the critique with a response if it’s anonymous).

I may take a few days/weeks to respond.  My schedule’s going to get crazy in the near future and I may not have the same bandwidth, but I will always try to respond and answer.

2. I am happy to make reparations within reason.  If you want to me to delete the offending post to remove it from tumblr and exposure, I will do so.  If you want me to leave the post up so the conversation can continue, that’s also fine.  If you want me to change my post to reflect a different and more informative outlook, I’d be more than willing to do that as well (I may need a bit of guidance on that front).  If you want me to take a bit of time or set aside some energy to include a specific type of post/content on this blog to help educate others, I can do that too.

But I will only do so much.  I’m not going to delete my blog for a single mistake.  I will not change the theme of this blog.  I’m not going to do daily posts on the topic indefinitely (I have limits).  I’m not going to apologize to five different people for the same mistake if I’ve already written an apology.  I’m also not going to put up with daily harassment/reminders that I made a mistake.

No one needs that in their lives.

But I’m a writer.  I love feedback.  I can’t take suggestions at this point, but I’m more than willing to take criticism.
