like i get PURPOSLY putting in images of it to be edgy or whatever. i get that. but theres a line you dont cross without looking like someone whos romanticizing it (...like listing the columbine shooting as "media" right next to tv shows and video games. the transparent image of the shooters on their carrd irked me but i would have brushed it off as just being edgy because i get that.... if it wasnt for how genuinely weird it is listing it like its some sort of video game or fandom or something???)

okay I've been thinking about this for months and I think I've decided.

I have really really loved running this blog for the past year. I initially created it on a whim because I wanted a little bit of attention and it seemed like a really fun idea. I didn't even expect it to last this long. And it kicked off rather quickly! That's how polls work on Tumblr I suppose. And then over time you all helped me create Poll! And then it got a brother! And then we started to have our egg OCs interact and it has been a lot of fun for me that I hope will continue!

It's just wild that a single minecraft server has brought us together

I will admit that some of my lack of motivation comes from the server ending, therefore killing the growth I had on this blog. Its hard to get new followers when the fandom begins to leave. Of course I know numbers mean nothing. And I really enjoy seeing everyone that has stuck around! I sometimes see your usernames in stream chats and point them out to my family 😂

I (26m) have an irl friend Ed (3

28 they/he). Ed and I are in similar fandoms, but our main connection is sports. He got re-interested in a Fandom they didnt previously engage with much, which is totally fine. However they started fixating on a character that's triggering for me so I unfollowed them briefly without saying anything. They do not post major updates to this account, they write fanfic they tend to send it directly to me anyway. So I wasn't missing much.

I have been unfollowed from them for exactly 3 days. They asked me earlier today if I'd seen their post, and I said casually that I haven't seen any of their posts on that account and asked if they could send it to me. This is normal for us, we miss each others important posts then send them to each other.

When they asked why I haven't seen any of their posts I said "I briefly unfollowed you because I needed a break from all the posts about x, who reminds me of my dad but im going to follow back soon" they were super offended that I unfollowed them. I asked them what I was supposed to exactly, you can't block tags on the website we were on so that wasn't an option. They told me I should have opened my mouth like an adult and asked them to stop posting the character so much. They then got mad when I said it wasn't my place to tell them what to post and I was going to follow them again once this Fandom phase was done. They said that's not an excuse to refuse to communicate with them and that I was a bad friend with horrible communication. I told them they were acting like a child over a fandom social media page. They speaking talking to me now.

It's also worth noting we are connected on most socials. I even follow their other accounts on the site in question so it's hardly as if I was cutting myself off from them completely online. yeah no i completely respect your opinion. and i do know where it's coming from. to tell you the truth (basic decency of tagging triggers aside), i DO find most of those fanon portrayals to be cheap and uncalled for a good majority of the time, at least from a literary standpoint. things like dating a minor or your own sibling have serious implications on a character's moral code and interpersonal dynamics where most characters would... not fucking do that! and the moment you don't engage with those implications, it becomes either incredibly ooc or altogether shallow. some people act like a topic being problematic makes it inherently complex and rich, when it can be as tropey and flat as any other "safe" topic. being problematic doesn't make you interesting etc. my point isn't arguing over literary value, it's more like... there's people behaving horribly and cruelly towards the AUTHORS, and making disgusting assumptions like the one that was made against me, all because of fiction you can always filter out at the end of the day (assuming basic tagging etiquette is respected ofc) and like. that's too far. nobody deserves to be treated like this.

not to mention, the "incest fiction recs"/"pro incest posts" those freaks mentioned were literally 1) me gushing about revolutionary girl utena, a deeply feminist and self-aware series that unpacks the misogyny behind anime incest tropes by treating that abuse REALISTICALLY as patriarchal manipulation from a male relative and showing how the female victim suffers and emancipates herself from it and 2) me being annoyed that hs showed one of its characters suffering from csa without acknowledging it AS abuse, even when it would've been not just the morally decent thing to do, but also a genuinely good addition to his character arc (apparently it does do that in the endstory, but i didn't know it at the time). those are both posts about realistic, condemning, and well-thought depictions of incestuous abuse in fiction—which is the only way i ever enjoy the topic btw—but that didn't stop these people from deciding i had an incest fetish and harassing me for weeks on end to the point of accusing me of sexually abusing my teenage brother. like you said, it would be a ghoulish way to treat someone even if their assumption had been right (and it wasn't), but it's like they saw the topic being mentioned and that fact alone was unforgivable, regardless of context. and this crap happens to people all the time! if that's not fucking stupid i don't know what is
