Scoria and Sakura are best friends! It's so cute when I see the things they do together, and it makes me so beyond happy that they both came to live with me so that they could share their lives with each other. They absolutely insist on it, and does so much good for the other.

I can't imagine how else they could have found happiness if things hadn't worked out exactly as they did. Scoria has basically been Sakura's "emotional support snake" while she worked through things from her past I'll never fully know that caused her a lot of issues with panic and fear. Sakura knows this too, and looks out for her sister, the only one she truly trusts and feels completely safe with.

The moment they wake up they both want each other to snuggle and play with. Scoria loves to be affectionate with both me and her sister who seems to have not had this earlier in her life- but Scoria is showing her how nice it is not only directly but demonstrating with me and Sakura also trying, copying what she has seen her sister do.

Sometimes when one goes to check on the other they'll join in on... I'm not even sure what they were doing. But they had a good time while taking a mandated union break from digging tunnels for the isopods.

So happy I get to share in the adventures of these two best friends! It makes me so happy to see them living their best lives together, and being beyond content snuggled together with their found family.

Okay okay, I am not gonna launch a passionate defense of the movie Cabaret at a poor internet stranger who didn't ask. They don't need that. But also *if* most audiences walked out of the theater thinking "wow, nazi germany sucked" and not "wow fascism truly can creep up on us until it's entirely normalized and not all of us will be able to just leave the country when that happens", it was a goddamn skill issue because the movie is very, very clear about its themes.

I feel alot of reductive and counter intuitive mechanics in Fire Emblem are still in the series because they've been present since the first Fire Emblem game and Intelligent Systems is too afraid to change them.

Take Armored classes always having lower movement than other footies in every game, even Engage, despite this being counterintuitive to their role as frontline tanks and already having too many disadvantages.

Fire Emblem continues to do this because it was done by Kaga, even though it doesn't make sense, especially when you're trying to make all classes balanced.

One thing about Chujin's and Martlet's relationship that I noticed is that there's an inequality to how they view each other. To Martlet: Chujin was the one who gave her direction in life when she didn't know where to go and what to do with herself. He's the one who inspired her to get into carpentry and she took up an apprenticeship under him that gave her the skill set she needed to join the Royal Guard. Him telling Martlet that humans were dangerous was enough to convince her to steal DT from the True Lab to defend herself if need be (despite how she was initially confident that she could handle herself). Martlet calls Chujin "almost like a father to her" (in the sense that he does things that fathers do for their kids: offer guidance and advice) and up until seeing his tapes, seemed to think of him as this perfect person.

Chujin, meanwhile, doesn't seem to think similarly of her. He built the balcony on Martlet's house as an act of charity, but that's because he was doing charitable acts for others, not because he was giving it as a gift for Martlet specifically. He doubted Martlet's capabilities as a Royal Guardsman when it comes to her ability to handle a human (which is understandable because he's speaking from his fear/hatred of humanity, but still. This is Martlet's first big job. She's putting herself out there, acting more like an adult, putting the skills that he taught her to good use. He should be proud of her and he was up until he learned what the job was. Having reservations would be one thing, but he let his fears rule the conversation when this should've been a moment to celebrate Martlet's growth. Then he ended their hangout session when Martlet said that she was going to be guarding the Royal Laboratory, which is likely a sore spot for him, when again: this is Martlet's moment). Martlet and Chujin's wife, Ceroba, are acquaintances at best. Martlet never got invited to Chujin's house before the events of the Pacifist Route yet they hang out at hers all the time. And Chujin has a file on her in his office that she didn't know about (Why? Why'd he have files on every person he met/befriended? For what purpose? Potential candidates for his Boss Monster Serum? Just to keep track of people in general? Or was it for something else entirely?)

THAT ISN'T TO SAY THAT CHUJIN IS EVIL FOR THIS BEHAVIOR! Don't get me wrong!! Nobody's obligated to have to feel a certain way about someone!! Just because Martlet thought so highly of Chujin doesn't mean that he has to see her the same way!! Obviously, he cared about her a lot and considered her a friend. He wouldn't have been her mentor if he didn't like her and didn't want to help her. It just makes me a bit sad to know that while Martlet saw Chujin as a close friend/guiding light in her life, Chujin kept her at arm's length in his mind and likely viewed her more as just a friend/coworker.

So the writers didn't know shit about the book characters.

here's the thing. yes, some pieces of art are "better" than others. there are many criteria you can measure that with--technical skill, creativity, clarity, conceptual depth, successful execution of the artist's intentions, etc., and i do think it's useful to clarify which ones you're using as a measuring stick. but like, of course you can evaluate art. of course you can be critical (in the "art critic" sense) of art. (among other things, that's one of the most important ways to get better at making art yourself.)

however. when it comes down to evaluating what gets to count as art. what art even gets to have a seat at the table. i will go to bat for the thing that isn't as "good" every single time.

you can say you think a piece of art is bad. you can say you think it lacked technical skill, or clarity, or conceptual depth, and you consider those important elements of a successful work. i might even agree with you. but if you think that means it doesn't matter, someone is going to die on this hill and it isn't going to be me
