Three Ships I Like

After your ex left you you swore off love and men.

He made you feel unwanted, kicked your self worth with his feet and generally was an awful human being, but it didn’t stop you from crying. 

Days turned into weeks where you were mourning something that only was perfect in your imagination because if you’d be real to yourself you knew you’re better off without him. 

After the grief switched to rage you found yourself slowly enjoying going out again. Mingling with your friends in your standard bar like every Friday was when you spotted him. Tall, broad and a smile so contagious it created little butterflies in your stomach instantly. 

You didn’t dare to go over to him and his equally attractive friends, so you observed for a while instead. 

Some stolen glances and a Friday later, same time, same place, he finally came over and took a seat next to you at the bar. Asked what your drink of choice was, held eye contact the whole time, seemed genuinely interested in what you had to say and the warm feeling in your chest grew with every minute. 

You quickly learned that his name was Frankie and you adored his name, repeating it in your head, tasting it on your own tongue and liked the taste more than you should after this short encounter with a man you just met. But something was different about Frankie and it made you both nervous and intrigued. 

As weeks went on you enjoyed every single date with Frankie. He always showed up, kept his promises and never made you question your worth in any way. He worshiped the ground you walked on, wasn’t afraid to show public displays of affections, not when you were alone and also not when you were out with his or your friends. 

Frankie effortlessly healed all the wounds your ex left and made you feel like floating. 

It was too good to be true you told yourself, there had to be a catch. 

But as weeks turned into months, him crashing at your place every chance he got, filling in the empty place in your heart and bed perfectly, it made you happier than you ever were before. 

He made your heart skip a beat with his sweet nothings he never was afraid to whisper into your ear and he also never failed to make your panties wet just by his attentive nature. Frankie thrived in your pleasure, never grew tired of letting you know how much he adored every single inch of you, even the parts you were so insecure about like your soft belly and back rolls. In the store you are at now, the AC is turned up all the way to max making your nipples almost painfully hard and mostly visible under the thin cotton fabric of your top. 

You stand in the cereal aisle as you reach for the highest shelf, tip toeing while your tongue sticks out in exertion. 

Just in this moment Frankie comes around the corner and freezes in his step as he sees you reaching up and your breasts on full display.

Is there anything more about that blue fox from the Die Young amv that became the furry awakening for so many?

I should still have lots of JayJay art to post, but you can check her tag for what I already have if you're interested! If you're looking for more of a basic info overview, keep reading.

JayJay was originally named JiJi and she was a source of controversy for Viv because Viv didn't actually create JayJay. JayJay was a sparkle dog adopt that DollCreep purchased then redesigned. (I can't recall the original artist off the top of my head, unfortunately, and, if I'm remembering right, JiJi was purchased from someone who purchased her from the original artist before she even reached DollCreep.)

DollCreep, a friend of Viv's at the time, then sold JiJi to Viv who went on to use her in the infamous Die Young video. But there were disputes between the two about characters given or sold to Viv and where ownership laid. I'm not gonna get too into it, but in my personal opinion, this was just a case of not communicating the terms of sale well between friends. In the end, Viv renamed JiJi to JayJay and altered her design very slightly.

In terms of her purpose in Viv's Zoophbobia, she was supposed to show up in Book Two of the webcomic. Zoophobia didn't make it that far, though, so what we do know of her is mostly gleaned from Viv's art and posts about her.

She was part of a group of werewolf and canine characters Viv dubbed Party Dawgz in some posts and was close to the Queen of Werewolves. She's known for being a party animal, obviously, but cares about her packmates and friends deeply and just wants to have fun.

DollCreep also portrayed her as a party animal, but leaned into a more comedic and sexualized depiction of her. Viv tried to tone that part of her personality down a lot which was something she stated directly once.

I believe some more specific details of JayJay's story (such as her being a farm girl who got stuck as a werewolf) were changed along the way. But, in general, being a party animal is what has stuck with her the longest as her primary trait.

Queen Bee from Helluva Boss is a big blaring neon throw back to JayJay and is probably near-identical in personality if you strip away the world-building specific aspects of both. Viv even referenced JayJay's original colors during Cotton Candy and obtained Kesha as her voice actress. So, in the end, this is where JayJay ended up in spirit.

Disclaimer: I was not around to witness the controversy of her ownership of JayJay in real time, but I have researched it for myself to reach my own conclusions about the situation. For me, it comes across as a messy falling out between friends, and I have sympathy for both sides.

As an archivist, I never want to shy away from the more controversial things that happened in Viv's history. But I also don't want a lot of discourse on this post about it, so I may block if I feel people are veering into overly aggressive and nonconstructive anti territory. Just try to be civil with any discussion if you want to avoid being blocked.

I actually rewatched the last ep for inspiration for a podcast I'm writing myself, plus, it's a moment in my life I need to brace myself for imminent grief, of loss of people but also of changes in life, things that will never come back to be like they were before, and that episode just..helps me a lot, I definitely recommend the show and I'd LOOVE to discuss it with people

This post was written the night I watched the final episode and it's been almost a year since then. In the time I've had to digest, I don't think Dianna dying is the "intended interpretation". I think if it were what Tomino intended, then he would have just shown it. We would have seen Loran come into her room the next morning with Dianna not waking up.

But we didn't get that, we got strong implying and leading on without ever actually showing the thing. So I believe we have to assume that this point of ambiguity in the work comes from the author intention for ambiguous interpretation from the audience. Dianna may have died or lied depending on how you view it.

And I think she died!

I think it's the right conclusion to her story. I think her story talked a lot about monarchy. How she was the archetypical 'fair just queen' that monarchy is propped up on, but monarchy is nonetheless a corrupt system even if or perhaps especially if you can actually find a fair and just monarch. And it took its toll on her and she couldn't just go to a normal civilian life after that.

There's also a lot of joy and beauty in her ending. It's not all tragic. Like I said in my first post, she knew that she was dying already, and she afraid of dying alone somewhere stagnant. She got what she wanted! She won! She got to die as a woman and not as a queen! She got to die loved instead of alone! She got to die in a vibrant living world that would go on without her, rather than a regressing world that would repeat the mistakes of history in her absence.

Many people try to bargain with death when they know they are dying. Most people are not so lucky as to be able to succeed in their bargaining.

Turn A really does have one of the happier and more optimistic endings for Gundam. I would like more people to see that.

So Dianna dies at the end, right?

There are a number of moments throughout the series. At one point when Dianna and Kihel together are running in a battle, and Dianna gets breathless first, and she says how the cryosleep isn't perfect, she looks young but her quality of fitness is of someone much older, due to how many centuries her body has been artificially preserved.

And there's another scene where she talks about her sins. How she was supposed to be the ruler of the moonrace, and it was her selfishness and shortsightedness that lead to war and loss of life. And specifically, she says, the selfishness that she could feel herself wearing away from the cryosleep. She could feel that one day she would just not wake up. She could feel how she was trapped on the moon and trapped in this era of history of waiting for humanity to recover from the previous catastrophe. How she rushed ahead the plans to return to earth because she wanted to feel alive and ultimately she wanted also for her nearing death to be in a place of contentment and happiness, not of waiting and stagnation. This was her sin.

So then, in the final episode, in the epilogue. We see Dianna. Having swapped placed with Kihel for the final time. Living with the last person alive who she loves and who loves her. Kihel carrying her sins for her. Kihel bearing the weight of monarchy and Dianna having the peaceful last days of her life that was all she wanted.

We see her dressed in heavy layers and carrying a walking stick in a snowy mountain. Seems appropriate attire for the environment. But she doesn't appear to travel far from her home. And Loran doesn't appear to need any of that gear. It seems more like she just has trouble walking. Just has trouble with her circulation and staying warm.

Loran feeds her soup. (An easy to digest meal!) And lays her to sleep. The camera lingers on that shot of her, resting motionless, in the dark. We begin to hear what sounds like the chanting of the moonrace who were left behind on earth?

So like, she dies, right? That's her death, right? Posting this because like, this isn't too far fetched is it? I'm not jumping to spurious conclusions am I? She dies, doesn't she. For her sins. Forgiven for her sins.

saw alot of comments on prev pages; saying 'i HATE that mean teacher! im gonna FIGHT HIM!!' & i LOVE the energy!! it WOULD be nice. to have that catharsis. but the story of young tidestrider is Not one of catharsis. it is a story of being so small and so special and sucking so bad.

MASSIVE SPOILER for one of the endings.

it's been a while since i tried looking, but i did hear that something like this happens last year and over time started to think, "was it a fluke?" bc no one posted footage or caps of it then, and i aimed for a completionist run in my first playthrough. turns out it's real! and definitely shines a new light on a character that, for most other types of playthroughs, will not give this much emotion!
