(Nothing to do with all that war stuff) Just felt like sharing with you some thoughts I recently had (like 5 minutes ago maybe) .
I feel like in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice there have been many twists that change many points from the first one. Sure many of them were made because "times changes and this won't be seen as funny anymore" but also I feel they gave BJ a more of a sentimental thing and it kinda reminds me of Corpse Bride since now he has a fixation with marriage.
Now we know that he was deep in love with his first wife and was happy with the idea of being married. Then his wife killed him and he died with a fresh broken illusion.
That makes me think that differently from the first one, he actually wants to marry Lydia for other reasons than only the "becoming alive" thing. I mean why would he put so much effort in the Mcarthur Park number instead of just getting married as fast as possible like in the first one. Also he's been dead for 600 hundred years, why would he be so obsessed over Lydia if she herself wasn't that important, I don't think he likes her because she denied him since basically no one really likes him. He could have tried marrying another living person who could see ghosts but in 30 years he didn't even try.
Also in both Corpse Bride and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice the dead one's murderer makes an appearance at the wedding and they have a final confrontation like a "liberation" thing.
I don't know... since Tim Burton tends to repeat patrons along his movies it doesn't really seems that crazy to me. What do you think?
Sorry for making it so long, hope you're doing fine
i think this makes a lot of sense actually! i mentioned something similar the other day on twitter, about the marriage thing specifically. this fixation he has on marriage has to have something to do with being murdered by his bride on their wedding night. delores might have been a bit lacking as a character but i think she added a completely new perspective to beetlejuice's character that we didn't see before, so she was more of a plot device character than anything else. that's okay (but tragic because she serves cunt like hell, would've loved to see more of her)
but yeah the sequel has been changing my perspective on the characters and their dynamic a lot as i process the whole thing. i still think it was a bit lacking in telling us why we should care about the idea of them being together if that's the road they're going down, but maybe that was purposely kept vague so people could think whatever they want and debate about it. yes, the cast wants them to be together but that doesn't necessarily mean they will actually do it, yknow? i personally have a hard time seeing it work out when seeing the big picture (meaning including the events of the first movie in the narrative) because if they do end up together, that would mean having beetlejuice "win" and that feels. off. feels wrong. to me personally. there's probably ways to make it work and not have it feel like he "won" though, i can kinda think of something that might work but i haven't actually thought that hard about it yet. interesting to ponder though. hmm

@rex-and-regina
1) marat did not encourage "murder of innocent civilians" in l'ami du peuple. while he did sometimes use violent rhetoric (like in the "five hundred heads" quote that people love to throw around with no context), that was pretty much the norm for political journals at the time. they were sensational and emotional and dramatic and hyperbolic. that was pretty much the stylistic standard. if you compare marat's paper with, say, hebert's or even desmoulins's, you'll find he's actually pretty academic and straightforward for the era.
2) if you try to counter my first point with "but the september massacres", you need to know that marat was not directly responsible for those either. the narrative that he caused it stems from the fact that he put out an issue of his paper a little while before the massacres that said some stuff about taking up arms to defend the homeland from conspirators and traitors, etc. etc. except, y'know, a bunch of people were saying stuff like that in their papers (see above). it's true that he didn't explicitly condemn the massacres, but nobody in the government really wanted to talk about it because of how messy of a situation it was. someone else even said something like "we will draw the curtain over this event and leave its judgement to posterity".
3) robespierre.... did not cause the "reign of terror". in fact they did not even call it the reign of terror at the time (historians came up with that later). actually, if we want to get pedantic, the term terreur had a very different connotation in the 18th century than it does now, but I digress. robespierre was the subject of a massive smear campaign when his coworkers realized they couldn't make him shut up about various crimes that they were involved in and killed him to keep him from airing out their dirty laundry. they also killed a bunch of his political allies because they couldn't have them exonerating him, could they? look it up it's actually wild. so they blamed him for all the issues that the government had, even the ones he was trying to fix (he opposed the shitshow in lyons and nantes, cautioned against needless bloodshed, abhorred the practice of treating executions as a spectacle). also he didn't actually have nearly as much power as people seem to think now. he was a member of the national convention (the french republic's elected legislative body), and a member of the committee of public safety (a council elected from members of the convention to deal with the escalating war situation and some other stuff). he was not the leader of the CSP (which did not have a leader) or the convention (which had a presidency that was mostly ceremonial and worked on a rotating basis). he also never sentenced anyone to death because it was the tribunals that did that, not the convention or CSP.
4) the time period that is generally considered the "reign of terror" (as flawed a concept as that is) is usually placed after the assassination of marat. because a big reason for the paranoia that led to the escalation of security measures was the fact that marat was killed. marat was seen as kind of unkillable by the people of paris (won his own political show trial, etc.) so if you could kill marat, you could kill anyone. so it's kind of hard to say what marat would've supported or not supported after he died, especially since his death itself heavily influenced the next stage of the revolution.
5) charlotte corday wasn't even a monarchist. she was aligned with the girondins, who were moderate republicans in favor of the free market. she didn't like marat because marat was calling the girondins corrupt in his newspaper after a prominent girondin official turned traitor and deserted to the austrians (whom france was at war with). not entirely sure what she thought she would accomplish with this, because a great way to make your political faction seem really corrupt is to brutally murder a guy for criticizing it.
6) a bunch of people actually tried to stop marat through various means, legal and illegal. namely lafayette and brissot and capet and barbaroux and necker and... you get the picture. charlotte corday was just the one that succeeded.
a final point: why do you criticize marat for "encouraging" (but never committing) murder while you simultaneously praise corday for committing a literal actual murder? only one of the three people (marat, robespierre, corday) you mentioned actually killed anybody, and it wasn't marat or robespierre.

Thinking about Guel and Suletta's Final Duel
Tumblr media
When I first watched it, it was a little confusing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you take it straight as Guel says, what he's saying here doesn't really make any sense. Guel has no reason to stand in the way between Miorine and Suletta at this point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He does sincerely care about Miorine now, but not romantically, and he also knows that he can't do anything to help her out of her despair.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's already confessed to Suletta and was incredibly understanding when he was rejected, so it's not as if he's trying to step between them.
So this battle is clearly not about Miorine at all. So then, what is it about?
It's about Guel needing to prove to himself if he was ever a match for Suletta Mercury.
(More under the cut awooo ahwOOOOooo!)
It's never something that's outright stated, and it's something that you can easily miss if you aren't paying attention, but Guel and Suletta are Rivals in this series.
They have the most onscreen fights with each other. Their rivalry is one of the consistent undercurrents of the series, but the problem is that not a single one of their fights was EVER on even ground.
In their first match, Suletta was piloting a Gundam vs. Guel's Dilanza. The deck was stacked so heavily in Suletta's favor that it might as well not have even been a fight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Their rematch was similarly cheated on Guel's end. His father rigged the sprinklers to go off, robbing suletta of her lasers. He wasn't even piloting the Darilbalde for half of the fight because it was being autopiloted for him. (And this is something he's clearly upset about)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And their third match was completely and utterly rigged from the start. It wasn't a test of skill between them at all. Aerial REBUILD Permet Score 7/8 was nigh undefeatable by any normal mobile suit, and so the only way to ensure Suletta would lose was to shut Aerial down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So even after all this time, and all of their fights, Guel still doesn't know. He still doesn't know which of them is truly stronger. And that's what this duel is about.
Their final duel is also the only one between them that's on truly even ground. You can even see this with how they change the duel vow
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's just the two of them. No fathers to cheat for them, no ghost robot sisters to rely on, not even any mobile suits this time. A pure, untainted one on one fight. And the result of this duel will finally reveal the truth of which of them is stronger.
Tumblr media
And well...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a foregone conclusion.
So why did Guel mention Miorine? Well, I think it's because when its for Miorine's sake, Suletta will not hold back. Every time the two of them have fought, Miorine was always the reason Suletta was fighting to begin with. Guel knows that if it's for her, Suletta will go all out. (And...also because he's dramatic....)
This was never an official duel, they aren't at the school, and at this point in the story, the rules regarding dueling have been completely shattered in terms of their importance to the narrative. They're just silly school rules, after all.
Even if Guel had won, I doubt he would've stood in her way. This was entirely for his own sake.
But what I truly love about this scene is that Guel was never going to win.
Suletta at this point in the story has become completely self actualized. She's broken free from the grip her mother has held on her for her entire life, she's finally living for herself, choosing for herself. She's come to terms with the mistakes she has made and is choosing to move forward for the sake of never repeating them. She's reaching out to Miorine, the woman who broke her heart, because she still deeply cares for her. She has come into her own completely and totally.
Guel, similarly, has made his own personal journey. He's put aside his pride, realized what running really means, has faced some of the very worst horrors of war and has similarly chosen to move forward for the protection of the things he holds dear. Without the strict hand of his father, he too, has learned to choose for himself.
But there's still something he's running from. Someone he doesn't realize that he's left behind.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lauda. He's still running from Lauda. He still hasn't reached Suletta because there's still something weighing him down.
In his rush to keep moving forward, he completely shut Lauda out. Because he's still afraid to face him. He thought he was protecting him by bearing his sin all on his own, but all he's done is left Lauda alone in his grief, and until he faces that, he will never catch up with Suletta.
Tumblr media
(Did you notice that the reason Guel lost this final duel was because he lunged forward without thinking?)
(It's his greatest flaw, after all.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What a fool he was, to think he could ever best Suletta Mercury.

AMA!!!! per le fanciction angst se ti va O e beznaia, se puoi con happy ending pero se preferisci solo angst va bene uguale! Ti lascio alla tua ispirazione!!!
Ti manderei una jorge/pecco ma angst? Io li voglio veder scopare
Bez is out the championship fight.
With just two races to go, even if he won both sprints and long races he wouldn't clench the title.
Pecco and him - they've been growing apart during the fight.
After the Aprilia came to be a true war machine and both him and Jorge jumped on podiums with Marc and Pecco, the latter had distanced himself, day by day, until they didn't even sleep in the same bed anymore.
Pecco hadn't bothered with giving an explanation or finding an excuse for what was happening.
Bez had tried so hard to get his Pecco back, to have hugs, kisses, hand holding, anhything.
Pecco just acted like they weren't worth it. He refused any kind of physical contact.
And naturally Bez couldn't bare this.
They have been broken up for two months now.
And Bez was the one to take it worse between the two.
He had cried in Maro's arms for hours after it happened, sobs turning into incoherent words and then to quiet tears, it was a long night.
Now, after all he sacrificed to be there, he sees his chances at the title slip away for a crash, caused by the fucking bike and its hydraulic problems.
He watches the remaining 5 laps from his garage, no one coming close to him.
Pecco wins, extends the advantage to 10 points to Marc and 13 to Jorge.
The evening of the race he's outside the hotel, he's picked up the habit of smoking after races, especially the bad ones.
It soothes his nerves, and in general he likes the burning sensation of it in his lungs.
He enjoys being there alone, but peace never lasts long.
Pecco comes out the hotel door, and once he spots Bez he goes up to him.
"It's not good for you, you know?" "Fuck off"
Pecco is surprised by the answer, not that he expected Bez to be lovely and kiss him but this is not Bez at all.
"Angry?" "Francesco I told you to fuck off" "Ok angry"
Bez doesn't look at him. He keeps staring at the same point for two minutes, Pecco stands beside him.
"I'm sorry for your crash, I wanted to know if you were ok. And I'm sorry for the championship too"
Bez snorts out a laugh, throwing the cig to the ground and putting it out.
"Oh so now you care?" Bez has tears in his eyes, but they don't spill.
"Now, after I'm not a fucking threat anymore, you suddenly give a fuck about me and how I am. Oh please Francesco you could've just not asked, it would've been better"
"No Marco I- of course I care about you, you are -" "What am I? Huh? And don't fucking dare say I'm your best friend, cause we stopped being that long ago, and I remind you you broke up with me two months ago, out of the blue, not to mention the one month prior where you treated me like shit"
"I'm sorry"
"I don't give a fuck about you being sorry. I cared at first, when you broke my heart and left me on the street like a stray dog. Cause that's what I was to you no? A dog you kept with you because I was oh so loyal and oh so obedient. You enjoyed it? Having your little toy with you all the time? Tell me Francesco, you enjoyed fucking me and then tossing me aside when I expired? You enjoyed having me be so stupidly in love with you I didn't see you didn't care about me and staying by your side?"
Pecco feels sick to his stomach, he didn't think Bez would ever think he used him.
"Bez no you - I didn't keep you, I never considered you to be a toy or anything close to it, I do care about you, I always cared, and I 'll do it forever, no no Bez I did't mean to - I didn't want this to happen"
"You care? YOU CARE? Where was this care when I cried for two hours in Maro's arms because you left me? Where was it when I got a panic attack because I thought I did something wrong and you hated me, and I called you because you were the only one I could trust, and you answered with a text telling me to sleep it off? Where was the care? I was so fucking sure for once someone saw me as more than just a body, but you just burnt down every little ounce of self confidence I had. You didn't mean for this to happen? YOU broke up with me, not another person, you"
At this point Bez's eyes hurt, they're full of tears, a pinching sensation to them.
"You just act like you care now because I can't win your precious fucking championship anymore. But as soon as I'm in the run for it again you'll break my heart again, and sorry if I don't want this to happen"
Bez doesn't want to keep on with this conversation, it's too much skin exposed, too much teeth bare.
He needs to go away, get far from Pecco's smell of citrus and mint and his stupid words.
"Bez-" "Stop. Stop it. I don't want to hear anything coming from you. I hope you fucking lose the championship, this way maybe you'll understand how it is to lose the most important thing in your life from one day to another"
Bez doesn't turn around when he walks back to the hotel entrance. Doesn't turn around when he hears his ex lover call for him. Doesn't turn around when a feeling of wrongness eats him whole.
And Pecco desperately tries to run after him, chase what he left months ago to clench a title he saw as worth more than love.
He sees now how stupid of a move it was, how foolish of him it was to leave behind the love of his life for the untamed need to win win win
So he's left like this, before an Hotel entrance, alone, stripped of his dignity, the smell of smoke hung in the air, littering his oxygen.
The extinguished cig being the only permance of Bez in his life now.

Camelot or Merlin?
I've been thinking a lot about The Moment of Truth (1x10) lately, and this scene popped into my head:
Tumblr media
Obviously, this is right before the battle, but I want to point something out here. Arthur says, "It's been an honor." as though he suspects they might not survive the fight, and wants to say a proper, respectful goodbye as a warrior would.
Now here's the thing: Arthur, Guinevere, and Morgana are not from Ealdor, and they are only to help Merlin. Logically speaking, it would make sense for them to leave if the battle was unwinnable.
But Arthur is not the type to run from a fight when innocents' lives are on the line. Even before the battle when training the villagers, he thinks that it can't be won, but he doesn't back out. He doesn't leave; he stays and fights with the villagers because he's Arthur, and he does not hold his own life above others. He's the opposite of the king that let Will's dad die. Will went ranting to Merlin about royalty even says, "Well, let's wait until the fighting begins and see who he sends in to die first. I guarantee you, it won't be him."
But it is him; Arthur always goes in first. It doesn't matter what part of a plan or battle he's apart of, he will always go in first and put those fighting with them above his own safety. The Curse of Cornelius Sigan (2x01) is a good example of how selfless he is. When he's cut off from his knights during the fighting, he orders them to retreat and save themselves, knowing full well that he was going to die (if Merlin hadn't been able to save him).
In the case of Ealdor's battle, he hoped they would win and he would fight, but he wasn't expecting it to work (it wouldn't have if Merlin hadn't stepped in with his magic). But he's not going to retreat, he's Arthur; he fully intends to fight until he's struck down.
This is where it gets interesting to me.
Arthur is the Crown Prince of Camelot, heir to the throne, and the commander of the Knights of Camelot. He is entirely dedicated to protecting and bettering the kingdom in any way that he can. He puts his people over everything, including his life. Arthur probably expected that when he would die, he would die in battle protecting Camelot (which he pretty much did in the end).
But he's not in Camelot. He's in a tiny village that's not even in his kingdom. Uther didn't know he was there, but if he had, he would've undoubtedly been absolutely furious, because the logical thing for Arthur to do was leave. He's the Crown Prince, the sole heir to the throne; his life is tied to the future of Camelot. There is no "rational" explanation for him to be there, and putting himself in danger.
But Arthur is completely willing to fight and die defending Ealdor. He's okay with laying down his life for these villagers that aren't even his people. Arthur (intentionally written so or not) puts the fate of Ealdor before the future of Camelot. He puts a little farming village before his entire kingdom, and why?
Because it's Merlin's home. That is how much he cares about him (regardless of interpretation their relationship).
He wasn't supposed to be there. It was possibly illegal for him to be there. Uther mentions their treaty with Cenred is gone, and that an armed force entering his kingdom for any reason would be seen as an act of war; Arthur doesn't go with any knights, but being the prince would likely be enough for Cenred to declare it as a crime.
So Arthur risks his own life, the future of Camelot should he die, and even the present state of Camelot should Cenred have found out he was there.
All for Merlin.
Of course he cares for the innocents in the village, but the only reason he actually traveled to the village in the first place was purely because of Merlin. In any other circumstance, he likely would've said the same thing about wanting to help, but not actually go.
He goes because Merlin goes. It's Merlin's home, and Merlin's leaving, and potentially isn't going to come back if he has to take care of his mother, or if he gets himself killed by the bandits.
Arthur would rather go, knowing all the risks, and die fighting to help him than stay in Camelot, even though his duty is expected to be to Camelot first. And he truly loves Camelot. It is no doubt that the kingdom matters a lot to him. Yet, Merlin's village seems to matter more, or rather Merlin himself seems to matter more.
Tumblr media
God I hate and love them so much.
How did they write such a beautiful relationship, likely without meaning to? Obviously, much of their relationship is intentional written that way, but I'm almost positive that some things, like this, happened purely by accident because they didn't think through the all of the implications of their actions.

hi scissor seven fandom. i still have not watched season four and i'm going insane in the membrane so i'm here to discuss how we dont talk about this scene enough
anyway so i was editing again and i got put off because i found this specific screenshot again
Tumblr media
and i was put off about it because he smiles here. he smiles. this like absolutely mortifying, fucked up smile. and i went back and now i think it's really fucking cool (atleast by my interpretation)
ANYWAYS: to jog your memory Redtooth just fucking MAIMED Dai Bo and Xiao Fei and now Seven is next- and he has this internal dialogue with 'his past self' in his head. A few episodes before this, Seven says to Dai Bo that he has "An idea" of how he used to be- though, "My memory is still choppy." And this scene, when he looks to talk to his past self, I think illustrates what he can remember now:
We see an unnamed woman dying, and then Seven standing at, presumably, her unmarked grave. Then we see Seven approaching the Killers League- or another building in Xuanwu- and after that, the day the girl in white stabbed Seven. The last 'memory' (though, this one might just be more of a conceptualization of what he thinks he was,) is Seven standing on top of a pile of broken swords and bones, and this is the last 'memory' we see
Tumblr media
These, and what Seven has been told by others like Captain Jack, are what Seven uses to form this concept of his past self. Notably, in Captain Jack's nightmares, past Seven is also depicted as smiling- when in reality, he had only ever smiled once, with the girl in white.
'Past Seven' approaches the current him and asks, "You've been looking for me, haven't you?" Which, more literally, would mean Seven's been searching for these memories, and the remnant of who this person was in himself today. The first time we see this Seven's face, he is smiling. This massive, terrifying grin.
Tumblr media
fucking christ bro put that away
Seven tells himself that he cannot escape this- he will never escape the Shadow Killers, and he tells himself that he has to let this part of him 'take over.' To be clear, this is not to paint Seven as having a split personality, but more to represent that he is at war with himself. When Seven smiles and slashes Redtooth, that is not a different person, but Seven, what he thinks is, regressing to that person that he used to be.
But notably, I think, this is not the Seven that he used to be. This is, by no means, who he was in the past. Seven, in the past, never smiled, nor had shown any emotion indicating that he took pleasure in these things. The only times Seven is painted this way is from other characters who are inherently unreliable narrators, because they themselves do not know the full story of who Seven was. Season 3, with the help of 'Two Heroes' from Season 2, paints past Seven as somebody who was going through to motions: he did what he needed to do, and that was it. And sometimes, through this, he is compassionate or merciful- though only in a way that is obvious when you have the bigger picture. Beyond this, the 'past Seven' we see here says something that directly conflicts with what he had truly believed: "You cannot escape your past."
Younger Seven does not speak enough to actively say he does not agree with this, but I think he did believe he could because of what happened with the Girl in White. Seven here, in his scattered memories, sees her entirely as a catalyst for him to put his emotions aside. Seven in the past directly betrayed the organization and fought every killer in Xuanwu for her. If Seven believed that he could never escape his fate, that he would never be able to run far enough from the organization, I don't think he ever would have risked everything for the Girl in White. If he never believed that, if his emotions had never won, he never would have walked into what he KNEW was a trap to save her- he never would have done anything and everything for her, because he would have believed it would've been pointless in the end.
This 'past self' that Seven forces himself to embrace, the one that smiles when he draws his sword against an enemy that logically, he should've known was nigh impossible to beat, was never Seven. This was the ideal of who he was, and he himself can hardly even try and stick to this: Not even moments later, he stares down at his sword once again and thinks in silence, questioning who he is.
Tumblr media
This past Seven, the ideal of who he was, once again tells him that his emotions will weaken him, but even if that's what Seven had been taught all his life, somehow, through the Girl in White, this belief had began to unravel. And beyond that, objectively, he is wrong about this- this ideal Seven tries to force himself to embody does not stand a chance against Redtooth, and his forced apathy gets him nowhere. Redtooth- who did not even recognize this Seven who smiled at him, but when he stood the same way he did before- directly says Seven's sword must be weaker than he thought.
Green Phoenix says "He's out of practice- that isn't how you use the blade." And, originally, I took this line to sound a bit snooty, because technically, this looks no different than how Seven has used the sword in the past, and fuck if Green Phoenix knows how to use the thing, but I think this line is a lot better when you read it as "That isn't how Seven used the blade." I don't know if that's really how it was meant to be translated, or if I'm looking to deep into it, but it's a nice touch.
Seven does not stand a chance in defeating Redtooth until he forgets what he's told himself, and reaffirms to himself once again: he is not that person he (thought he) once was.
Tumblr media
Seven, evidently, still loses here: he nearly pushes Redtooth to his very limit, but this is the closest he gets to defeating him, this is where Seven is his strongest, when he uses his emotions to reaffirm who he is today.
I think Seven is still very much stuck exploring who he once was: and he may not ever truly know that he's never actually been this cold, unfeeling villain, but this episode goes so far to show how Seven learns that he will always choose the island, his friends and his emotions above all else, and the small ways it shows us this isn't even who Seven really was, and it's so so fucking cool and I absolutely adore it.
if i watch season 4 and it actually just smacks me in the face and contradicts everything i say here i'm going to blow up a building also i still haven't watched it so let's pray i dont get notes that spoil it

So earlier this morning, my friend MK sent me this fic, which hurt me deeply in all the best ways. However, since I have Renchanting/Treebark brainrot, I ended up being inspired to write something similar to answer the question "but what if Ren were there?"
So here it is, 1150 words of Martyn angst involving Ren and the end of Limited Life. Written in a mild fugue state, no betas, no nothing. Not STRICTLY Treebark but can easily be read that way. Too short for me to feel comfortable putting on AO3, but maybe I'll expand it into something fuller. Who knows?
*
"You did it, my dude!"
Martyn's head whips around to find the source of the voice. The last two other people on this void-forsaken server had just died by his hand—hell, Impulse's blood is still fresh on his blade. The only thing that should be left to congratulate him is the whistling of the wind through the blasted remains of the forest around him.
And yet there he is.
A few steps behind and to the right of Martyn is someone Martyn knows well. He hasn't seen him since the Double Life game; didn't get to see him enough, even then. Though Martyn knows he owns more than one set of clothes, he's dressed in what Martyn first met him in: a red shirt, blue jeans, black suspenders, dark shades. His brown ears are pricked forward in keen interest, and his tail swishes lazily behind him. He's grinning from ear to ear, and though Martyn can't see his blue eyes, he knows the smile reaches them.
"What?" Martyn manages to choke out. His throat has gone impossibly dry.
Ren spreads his arms in an expansive gesture, still grinning. "You did it! You won!"
A trickle of sweat winds its way down Martyn's neck and under his collar. In the distance, a bird chirps. His stomach churns. "That's not… you're not…"
"Not what?" Ren asks, tail pausing in its back-and-forth path.
"That's not how this works," Martyn says. "I get that, now. You don't win this. You're just—you're just the last to lose."
"That's not what you thought back in Third Life," Ren points out, gently.
"Yeah," Martyn scoffs. "And look where that got us. And even if we'd won, it would've just been us at each other's throats."
"It could've been honorable."
Martyn's eyes burn, and he blinks twice to try to get them to stop. They don't. "Didn't you see what just happened? I killed Scott before he even had a chance! There's no honor in any of this, don't you get it?"
Ren's expression turns melancholy: his grin fades and his ears and tail droop. "You don't believe that."
"The best of us always dies with you," Martyn spits. "And you weren't even here this time."
"I'm sorry, dude." Ren's apology barely rises above a whisper. "I wish I could've been there for you."
"I would've killed you." The words tumble out of Martyn's mouth before he can stop them. "I killed Scott like it was nothing. I would've killed you, too."
"I know," Ren says after a moment. "I knew from the beginning. If it came down to the two of us, I knew you wouldn't just let it be at that." He pauses, tilts his head a little as he appraises Martyn. "I think we both know I would've let you win."
Martyn scoffs again and he scrubs at his eyes with the heel of his palm. He's so tired. "Fat lot of good that would've done either of us."
"I'm sorry," Ren repeats. He reaches out, and Martyn recoils.
"You're not real. You can't be."
This statement, one that Martyn is sure will break the spell, barely seems to register. Ren merely shrugs. "I'm as real as you need me to be, dude."
"You should've been here!" Martyn finally shouts. He casts his bloodied sword aside as he takes a shaking step towards the image of Ren. "You should've been here, we should've made jokes about wet dog smell, you could've made a stupid coral crown, we could've all gone to war under the same banner!"
"I'm here now," Ren says, his words very tender. "Can't declare war on anyone, but you've still got some time left. We could watch the sunset together. Just like old times." He extends a hand.
Martyn stares at Ren's fingers; they look just as callosed as he remembers them. He can easily imagine what it would feel like to take that hand and use it to pull Ren closer. But giving into that desire would be just that little bit too far. Instead, he just lets out a breath. "Okay. Alright. I've got an hour and a half left. Might as well do something with it, and watching the sunset with a figment of my imagination is as good as anything else I can think of."
Ren's tail starts swishing again. Not as excitedly as it had been before, but it's no longer still. "Great! Where's the best place to watch on this server?"
"Most everywhere's been blown to bits," Martyn says, "but maybe we can still see something nice from the Clockers' tower."
When Ren doesn't object or supply an alternative, Martyn leads him in that direction. They make it to the top with no incident—if Scar had trapped it, the trap had worked in typical Scar fashion. The view is… not the best. The landscape is pock-marked by explosions and toppled structures, and the sky is criss-crossed by bridges and platforms used to enact the destruction.
If Ren minds, he doesn't say as such. Instead, he stares off into the distance. "Guess I missed a lot, huh?"
"You could say that." Martyn keeps his face forward, but he studies Ren's profile out of the corner of his eye. "Why are you here, anyway?"
Ren's focus on the distant landscape doesn't waver as he says, "Because you won."
"So… what, the game just pulls up a hallucination of the person I've been wanting to see this whole time just because I'm the last to lose?"
"I'm as real as you need me to be," Ren states again, this time turning to face Martyn. "Maybe I'm a figment of your imagination, or maybe I'm here because there wasn't any other way for us to see each other. What's it matter? I'm here now, and the sun's about to go down."
He's right, of course. The sun is slipping close to the horizon, casting long shadows over everything. The day is almost done, and so is Martyn's tenure as the game's 'winner.'
"You're right," Martyn sighs. "Let's just… enjoy what time we've got."
The minutes tick by. The sun creeps ever lower. Martyn's timer grows closer to the end. Finally, when the moon has risen, Ren turns to look at him.
"I'll see you again. You know that, right?"
Martyn breathes in a trembling breath. "That's what you said last time, and look where it got us."
"I'm here now, aren't I?"
"I guess so," Martyn says. "So, now what?"
"Now we wait. It won't be long now."
Martyn checks his timer. It won't be. There's only a few handfuls of seconds to spare. He could spend that time looking out at the carnage that the game had wrought on the world around them, or he could spend that time looking at Ren.
He makes his choice and he does not regret it.
His timer runs out.

The heroes have won and restored peace. It took some time to rebuild the cities near the fight but in a few months, Japan was functioning like usual. The classes at UA started again and everyone was excited to be back at school (even those who have lost friends, family or teachers) but not Aizawa. He felt terrible about how things turned out and just couldn't move on like nothing ever happened. Not when he has scars that hasn't healed yet. He lost many friends and now he was incapable of using his quirk to save others. Because of it, he felt useless and miserable as he was no longer a hero and all he had left was teaching.
Mic was getting worried about his friend's behaviour; he didn't eat or sleep and started shutting down to everyone around him. It was when Eri knocked the door one night saying she was scared cause Aizawa had locked the door to his bathroom and won't come out, that the hero decided to put an end to this situation. Firstly, he obligated his friend to go the psychologist and then, every week they would go out in order to make him feel comfortable interacting with other people again; this included setting him up on dates against his will. Having a relationship was not something he needed right now and he definitely didn't want to become a burden to anybody. That was until a certain someone came along...
Y/n was a foreigner doctor that arrived to Musutafu a few months ago when she found out what was happening and wanted to help. She had a "sanation quirk" which meant she could cure and regenerate body parts. She's specialised in working with people who had been badly injured and needed to train their body functions from the beginning.
After helping to attend civilians and heroes during the final war, Nezu offered her a job at the UA as "Recovery girl" was finally retiring and she gladly accepted. She was introduced to the other stuff a few weeks earlier but Shouta was nowhere to be seen and definitely didn't pay Yamada any attention when he talked about a "new sexy doctor" or something like that cause, if he had listened to him, he would've been prepared for such a sight. His friend suggested to visit the new college as maybe she could help him to recover fiscally (and also because he knew that the moment Aizawa saw her, he would be hooked) So there he sat rigid without making eye contact while she inspected his injuries. She was so close that he couldn't help but smell her sweet perfume. Y/n (as she has told him) was the prettiest woman he has ever seen or been near, by far; her e/c eyes brought calm when he looked into them and her reassuring smile told him everything was going to be ok and suddenly, he realised how rough this months have been that a simple gesture fold with positivity, made him feel so overwhelmed he needed to get out of the room for a few moments.
Once he came back, the doctor was smiling at him and made him sit next to by grabbing his rough hand into her delicate one He was not expecting such an action as well as not expecting her look at him right on the eye and said "Have some good news for you! First of all, we are gonna replace this pirate bandage you have for an implant and, with my quirk's help, it could regenerate your hability to see and use your power. However, it'll take time. We will work together in rehab and maybe and year from now, you would be able to use your quirk like you did before! (I'm not a doctor, I actually study law, so please understand all of this is fantasy)" Aizawa couldn't believe what he was hearing, he even thought Mic had told her say that so he wouldn't feel so terrible but the look in her eyes was one of genuine happiness and sincerity so he choose to believe and chase, after so many years, the hope of having a good ending where he could finally be in peace with himself.
Six months later, Shouta was quite pleased with how much he achieved. He started eating, sleeping and teaching like he did before it all went down the hill. He really had missed training his students and doing hero work. So he was glad he visited y/n that time, speaking of which became one of his best friends. She was always by his side; on his worst days where everything hurt and he didn't want to keep going, she was there to extend him a hand. Also, on those days were training seemed easy and he would do everything right, she was there to cheer for him. It was just a "mere coincidence" that his favourite days were the ones he spent next to her. Actually, they had their own routine together; they would eat every day the bento boxes she prepared to lunch at the rooftop, also, before going to the teachers dorms, they would have a cup of coffee and tea (a vanilla tea with honey for her. Yes, he memorized her favourite drink because he is a really good friend, right? Right?) and twice a month they would go out to eat alone or sometimes Hizashi joined them.
Some days, she would appeared unexpectedly to play with Eri and they would ended up having dinner together, like a family. Oh, that made Aizawa stay awake at night. The mere thought of having y/n on his life as more than a friend, made his head spin. He would take to his own grave that sometimes, when they were out with Eri, he actually pretended they were a real family and when old ladies comment on how cute their child was, he did not denied and respond "yes, I know just like his mother" just to see the cute blush on her face and for her to hit his arm because of embarrassment.
Her arrival had been a blessing and there was no denying she'd saved him but somewhere along the way, feelings got confusing and their friendship was something more to him. When he was around her, he no longer felt lonely and sad. She made him feel loved when she traced the scars from fights he wanted to forget or when she would put his head on her lap and caressed his hair till he was asleep. Every little thing made him fell in love with her allover again, that's why he had prepared a big surprise in order to confess. He has been leaving romantic letters on her desk with flowers or chocolates, other times he left some vanilla tea with her favourite cake or small gifts such as plushies, earrings and necklaces all from her secret admirer. The girls from class 2A had given him the idea and help him choose a few of them.
When Valentine's Day arrived, Shouta was so nervous he thought he would explode. Today was the day he'll finally confessed. He had made a reservation at the highest building in the city just to have the best view for the fireworks show and the lake. He made sure they served her favourite dish and that were roses on the table. He left a letter on her desk that said "Today I'm going to have enough courage to tell you how I feel. Please meet me at 8PM at xxxx, I'll be waiting. Pd: This is my final gift before reviling identity, please feel free to wear it tonight. Kisses, your secret admirer" and next to it was a box with a beautiful red dress inside. Something modest and elegant but just as stunning as you were. He did a design for Momo to make and he couldn't be happier about how it looked on her, She looked like a princess straight out of a fairy tale. She still hadn't seen him and Shouta panic for a moment, his head filled with bad thoughts like "what if she rejected him? What if she didn't like him?, etc" but once he looked eye with her, he knew everything was going to be alright even if she rejected him. Her eyes were full of curiosity and she was trying to hide the blush on her face by looking around the restaurant so he took this moments to admire her. If he could his the ground she was walking, he definitely would. What a sight she was. Not only with this beautiful dress but also when she wore that cute pijama bunny with her hair on a messy bun. He would choose that sight every day for the rest of his life. From the moment he laid eyes on her, he knew there was no coming back and he gladly accepted that from the start. He was hers to take if she wanted to and he would make sure to give her the best of him, mind, spirit and soul.
He hadn't realised he's been holding his breath for a few seconds until she was in front of him with a timid smile and said "I was hoping it was you all along" and took him by surprise by kissing him and that was how it started. He didn't know what he did to deserve someone as wonderful as her but he'd make sure she won't regret ever choosing him.

about the parallels between derby and bif / achilles and patroclus.
first of all, i need to warn you- if you have read the song of achilles, delete it from your brain. forget about it forever you can rest now it was all a bad dream. know that both their personalities and their dynamics were simplified and stripped of all their cultural significance, reducing them to a hormonal-thirteen-years-olds-wattpad-fanfiction-from-2012 kind of story that fucking irks me as a classic lits student. with all due respect to thirteen year olds writing fanfic on wattpad in 2012.
so, the thing about them. achilles is the strongest warrior of the greeks, just him deciding not to partake in the war is a decisive hit for the army; just one nod of his is enough to decide the entire fate of his companions. but also, he's driven by blind pride, personal gain, an archaic and profound sense of honor. except that, you know- this is much more natural of a mindset than it might seem, because it's a very part of the societal and cultural structure these warriors live in. it is a value that's passed on within generation and that any sane citizen would've had, it was the mentality of the ruling class and the contrary would've been an anomaly. (if ur interested in this aspect: see archilocus' shield)
i think it's already easy to notice how this parallels some of the very core aspects of the preps' context and derby in particular. every action, their very existence is a matter of honor and reputation; for derby in particular, the leader, the one who always calls the shots, and when he wants something there's no one stopping him, not even his own clique. he will have what he wants, and if just one small offense is done to him, it's everyone's fault, and nothing will get better unless the cut is mended.
and then there's patroclus. older, wiser. he's not as powerful as achilles, but he's a level-minded, resistant and skilled warrior, favored by the gods. that's mostly what i hate about what madeline miller did to him, trying to make him into a relatable, pacifist softboy- he's one of the greatest warriors of the army, respected and recognized by all. he's perfectly capable of standing up on his own and fighting without achilles, basically massacring an entire army; if apollo didn't intervene, he would have won against hector change my mind
the thing about them, though, is that... they're still stronger together. a warrior's arms were a sacred thing, so when patroclus wears achille's armor is much more than a simple impersonation. they re exchanging power, almost blending into each other, and patroclus fights with his own and achilles' power. do you see the parallel there?
derby is of course a great leader, and bif is a powerful fighter on his own; but when you put them together they become unbeatable, a force of nature that is born from the union of them.
and also!! one of my favorite scenes from the iliad is one where we see achilles, in his tent, playing the lyre, while patroclus sits in front of him. for one: sitting in front of each other was a gesture of great intimacy, almost symbolic. two: this is almost a contradiction with what we said about achilles before. he is a demigod, but here and now, playing sad music, sitting in front of patroclus, he becomes human.
and that's the thing about derby and bif, that in their life they're expected to uphold aristocratic values, to never show any trace of imperfections or flaws. that their pride and reputation, as they have been told their whole lives, is essential, and they have nothing without it. and yet, when they are together, they just let that superhuman mask fall, and they can just be fragile, emotional, they can have a heart beating and flesh and blood and they can love. when they're together they are human again

Why I always think the "harmonic convergence" and "dark avatar" arcs would work better in Aang's saga than they do in Korra's.
If we look at the core central themes of ATLA and TLOK and establish them and their main characters as direct foils, ATLA is about a human becoming a god while TLOK is about a god learning to be more human.
But how they execute those themes is not that great. They're almost executed in the reversed way, accidently perhaps.
If what Iroh said is true and everyone would despise Iroh for reclaiming his stolen birthright, why don't those same repercussions apply to Zuko? Iroh enabled Zuko to attack his sister for a position of power, aka, the very thing Iroh said was a bad idea and "couldn't" do himself. Iroh may have thought he would have to kill Ozai and figured he'd be hated for that but did it not occur to him that Zuko would've likely had to kill Azula, had she been in her A-game? Does Ozai's life somehow matter more than Azula's?
During the first week as fire lord, Zuko was already dealing with rebellion problems and refusal from the public of the change of regimes, exactly as Iroh described. Iroh would most likely deal with it but is he somehow more fragile to criticism than Zuko? In the search, Zuko could just casually leave Iroh in charge with no issue and nothing bad happens, making what Iroh said even more pointless.
Everyone keeps saying that it's only Aang's destiny to stop Ozai in order to put an end to the 100-year war but there's no clear reason as to why. The showrunners might say it's because he's somehow "the strongest firebender there is" but the fact that they felt like they had to say it instead of show it proves that they didn't do that good of a job building him up.
Even their word wasn't enough to change the Iroh fandom's minds and instead of staying true to their word and having Iroh at least say, point blank, that he does not stand a chance against Ozai, Iroh just says "he doesn't know," clearly setting up bait of the possibility of Iroh being the winner. But even if that happened, it would just make Iroh look pathetic for he's just letting Ozai walk all over him. Like he studied all the nations except the earth one. Because there's evidence to suggest that Iroh is a clear winner here.
Iroh was actually a soldier who knows non-bending combat, he understands battle strategies, has experience in various battles, mastered both negative and positive sides of firebending, and even came up with new fighting techniques as a result of studying all other nations. Ozai would often flip a Pai Sho board and burn the pieces whenever he lost a game to Iroh, heavily implying that Iroh won nearly every game. So, Iroh was always better than Ozai at everything. To top it off, Iroh is firstborn, which means the throne is rightfully his, Ozai stole it from him. Why would it be a big deal to the public if Iroh got back what is rightfully his but not so much if Zuko does it?
Even if Ozai did have an edge, being the best firebender is one thing, all other non-avatar benders having the same level of mastery over their element, such as all members of the white lotus and team avatar, that is another. Is Ozai strong enough to waste off the rest of the white lotus and team avatar all by himself? A lot of people doubt it. I guess we'll never know for sure because he's never given any action scenes beyond one with Aang. Katara had never even seen the guy.
In short, in ATLA, the world did not need the avatar as much as the premise and characters insist; some of the characters are either shortsighted or incompetent fanatics who refuse to grab hold of their destiny and command it which is odd because "making one's own destiny" is one of the avatar franchise's core themes.
Then we have TLOK. That series had a knack for making its big bads ridiculously overpowered, overpowered enough to give Korra a hard time, even at her peak. The most infamous example being the back half of season 2.
Harmonic Convergence. A supernatural phenomenon that occurs once every ten thousand years. When the planets align, spiritual energy is greatly amplified, causing the spirit portals to emerge. During this event, Raava and Vaatu engage in a battle that determines the fate of the world until the next Harmonic Convergence.
This event COMPLETELY blows the 100-year war and the Sozin's comet events WAY out of the water. Plus, Vaatu is written to be more powerful and more evil than every other avatar antagonist combined and they introduce an actual thing called "the dark avatar." Raava, aka, the avatar spirit, isn't just a foil to Vaatu but his only weakness.
This all looks way too big for any non-avatar to handle, Wan and Aang's stories parallel each other drastically, and the avatar cycle can be traced back to Vaatu's influence. It took everything Korra had to destroy him temporarily.
I always see Ozai and Vaatu as the same person because it would make more sense now on why only the avatar must face him, preferably after he's mastered his bending arts, chakras, and avatar state to their fullest extent. Regardless of how strong team avatar and white lotus are, the avatar would be his one true weakness. Plus Ozai is so flat and one-note with no single redeeming quality that you could hardly notice any difference between him and Vaatu personality-wise. If it was actually canon that Ozai was Vaatu in human form the whole time, I doubt it'd surprise anyone.
In short, in TLOK, the world needed the avatar WAY more than ever before despite what the premise and characters would have you believe.

Vezz! My original commander, he stepped down after Kralkatorrik's defeat. Probably would've kept going, but his wife - Qirri's older sister Rissia - had gotten pregnant, and his mental health was pretty strained, even if he'd improved since first meeting the guild.
He lost his eye and suffered significant burns when he and Garrus were killed by Balthazar, but oddly enough, despite everything, he's doing a lot better. He's still got a well loved ward in Taimi, he has a wonderful wife, and he has twin progeny - Tybalt and Sieran - that keep him on his toes.
He and Rissia have since settled in Applenook outside of Lion's Arch, and he has bi-weekly therapy with a charr in the city. He's doing a lot better these days.

On the fourth day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
Angst for Treebark (is that what we call martyn and ren?)
"I wanna say there's still hope but sometimes things just don't go your way."
Please please please bear w me if i screw up writing this dialogue i am trying and they insisted on being poetic in 3rd life and i dont want to ruin it
There's a war on the horizon, everyone can tell. It's hard to ignore- near impossible, actually. Renchanting and Monopoly Mountain were enemies from the start. Even when they evolved into Dogwarts and those desert hippies that Ren couldn't be bothered to properly call them, their relationship stayed the same.
Ren knew the last stand-off was happening soon, and admittedly, he wasn't having high hopes. Grian was still on Scar's side despite not owing him his life anymore, and Ren knew Grian was smart. It would be damn near effortless for him to trap their home and blow it to bits with the king and his hand standing inside.
Martyn, however, held more optimism than him. Optimism that, while he admired it, Ren also hated it. Hated that he would disappoint his hand when he fell.
"Chin up, my lord. We'll take them down!" The hand gave his king a big smile.
Martyn was so certain they could win. He knew that if when they won, he would have to fight his king, but for now he could consider it a duel win.
"You see a different side than me, hand." Ren spoke with a sad smile.
"You don't believe we can take them? Surely you think there's a chance!" The hand looked a little upset at his king's pessimism.
"I want to say there's still hope, and that we can prevail, but sometimes things just don't go the way we want. I've made my peace with that, me hand." Ren accepted it long ago.
Ren was happy to have this experience. Of being a king with a right hand man who was loyal to him. Having land that he protected and a war with a rival nation to fight. It certainly wasn't a happy experience, but he was happy to have experienced it.
The hand, however, was not happy. He wanted to bring his king to the end. To him, it was never about being someone's hand, it was about being Ren's. It was his first lifetime knowing him, but there was something in the hand that told him it wouldn't be his last lifetime yearning for him.
Maybe, in another lifetime, they would have a happy ending. There wouldn't be a war to fight. Or, Martyn would've at least been able to protect his king.
~
Etho was burnt to a crisp whilst fighting impulseSV
The flame bows would be the death of all of them, Ren swears. He's already accepted his death, but he's still fighting for his land. After all, Martyn is still fighting and how could Ren let his hand fall without him?
The hand hates the flame, but he's determined. They won't fall here, he promises. Not verbally, it's more of a promise to the universe, he doesn't want to put the pressure of a promise on his king.
impulseSV was slain by InTheLittleWood
The traitor falls, and Ren is relieved they could at least do that. The relief fades quick as they are attacked again.
Tango was burnt to a crisp whilst fighting InTheLittleWood
The hand is optimistic. They will win- they have to win. After everything he's done for his king, if they just died here, it would be pointless. So he has to pull through.
bigbst4tz was shot by Grian
It's not a permadeath, but Ren doesn't expect Bigb to come back to them. It's him and Martyn versus Scar and Grian. How it could've been from the start if they all didn't involve innocent people in their feud. Ren feels bad they had to die for something that had nothing to do with them, but death is inevitable in a war.
The hand is going to protect his king. He has to, that's what he's there for. The king won't fall like their other allies, the hand swears it. He promises again that he'll protect him. He's separated from his king, but surely he'll be able to protect himself from Scar while his hand deals with BdoubleO.
Renthedog was shot by GoodTimeWithScar
"REN, NO!" He knows it's disrespectful for the hand to refer to his king by name, but his grief and anger is fueling him.
He promised they'd win right? Maybe he should've voiced it to his king. A promise to the universe means nothing, really. All the hand can do is avenge his king and win alone for them.
InTheLittleWood was shot by GoodTimeWithScar
Oh dear. Did he... really fail his king? What kind of hand dies to the same man who killed his king? Oh, he really messed this up. He's glad he's separated from his king in the afterlife, he doesn't think he could bare the disappointment his king might look at him with.
But Ren? He's the furthest thing from disappointed. If only he could tell Martyn how proud he was of him for continuing to fight when he could've run. How cruel of the world to not give them this last reunion in the afterlife.

My live reaction I sent my friend starting with How to Break a Dragon's Heart cause that's when I started doing this
P.S: It's a mix of images of text and text because I sent some through the notes app and some through text messaging. I know, I'm weird. There's also a bit about Miraculous Ladybug I didn't take out, lol.

Oooohhhh the clock has everything! It can show where the crown is! That's awesome. I was wondering why the witch didn't take Hiccups stuff.
I'm worried about the dragon in the crown...
I KNEW HYPNOTIC STUFF BY DRAGON EYES WOULD BECOME PLOT RELEVANT
Oooohhhhh you're telling me Hiccup from the movie follows the mixture of Hiccup the first and Hiccup the third? Oooohhhh
This is both so sad and so cool. The story of every hiccup being best friends with dragons: the first ending the war, the second raised by dragons and tried to liberate them, the third needing to send them away.
The green death was the one that tried to kill hiccup the first? Whoaaahhh. And I'm glad that Hiccup the first treated the dragons good and the promise was kept until he died, he wasn't evil. None of the hiccups were mean! That's very interesting! And makes this feel a lot better.
"Those little betters become a larger good" ohhh I love this so much! I love this whole series! I'm cryinggggggg!!! Ohh my goodness!!!!
OH NO FURIOUS DON'T DO THIS NOOOOOO HE'S A GOOD PERSON
Yesss I love the old dragon he's so cute! Take him!!! I'm sorry toothless he has to take your spot for a sec elders rights.
Flashburn, you deserve this humble experience. Also AAHHHH BRAIN PICKERS!!! I love that. I love that so much. And fishlegs we love you so much. Hhehehehehe
Flashburn. You really are gonna call yourself a jelly fish because your upset the chosen one was able to do his chosen one duties?
"Do you think I'm stupid?" obviously they do hiccup for SOME reason.
OH NO TOOTHLESS DID YOU JUST GIVE AWAY HICCUP BY LIFTING UP HIS HELMET????
Oh that sounds horrible. Even if it's not poisonous, scratches hurt. VORPENT POTATO YEESSSSS!!! MITHRIDATES LUCKY CHOSEN ONE!!!
WAIT VORPENT POISON STOIC ISN'T IMMUNE DON'T REALIZE THAT WITCH Oh thank goodness
Hiccup. HICCUP. H I C C U P!! You're so cool. Checkmate! CHECKMATE!!!
Oh no. Not the helmet. Don't do the helmet. I'm not taking the helmet.
I don't trust chapter 15's name. I will never trust their names, though they have never lead me astray. Although I'm glad flashburn won't be coming back.
STOIC YES BE PROUD OF YOUR SON!!! Awww the toothfang admiring the colors of the earth I love it so much.
Oooh I would've loved to see the sword fights for each one for Hiccup. But oh no the mark is going to become something isn't it. I'm so scared of that mark. I don't know how it's gonna come up.
Oh goodness is the other guy norbert or something? Is it stoic? IT'S STOIC OH GOODNESS
Uh oh. The witch is back! Oh no!!! How is it gonna go wrong?! OH GOSH IS SHE GONNA REVEAL THE MARK???
"Go read Hiccups memoirs. How many times must I tell you?" love it. Yes! Absolutely!
OH NO I WAS RIGHT SHE DID SEE THE MARK DIDN'T SHE!!! OH NOOOO
Oh stoic. No, Hiccup has to fight. He HAS to fight. Ooohh he's never fought hiccup? Ooohhh this is going to be interesting!
Growing up sucks. But it's so nice when it works in your favor! Accidents??? ACCIDENTS?? NOOO FISHLEGS!!! oh. NOOO STOIC DON'T KILL HICCUP ON ACCIDENT!!

He tucked and rolled, narrowly avoiding an attack, one that if allowed would've forced the hero into permanent darkness, an everlasting restless sleep. Quickly, he got up, brandishing the sword of the Goddess, created by the original hero to defeat evil within the world for all of eternity. He let out a war cry, rushing towards the great evil which had attempted to plague the lands (or, seas) of what used to be Hyrule, before the great flood caused by the Gods and Goddesses above.
He flipped backwards as the great evils' sword sliced at him, just barely nicking his cheek. A cut formed on his cheek; white turning to red rather quickly, though the hero couldn't focus on minor injuries at the moment. He had a duty to do; a mission which he would not fail. He would defeat the great evil–
"Ughhh, what is it, Wild!?" Wind asked, irritation evident in his voice. He was trying to tell a story, but kept being interrupted by a certain group of heroes. Wind loved questions; he welcomed them, encouraged them, even. But this was just excessive, fucking hell. Wild put his hand down as he was called on, mouth opening as words fell from him. "Why do you keep calling him "the great evil"?? Why not just Ganon?" He questioned. "It's for special effect! To make the story better! Now shush and let me finish, please!" Wind answered, waiting for someone to speak up again. When no one did, he continued.
He would defeat the great evil, if it were the last thing he did. Regardless of what was to come, he would fight as though today was his last fight, and he would fuckin' win, too!
"Language," ... Some heroes would later come along and irritate the couragous hero, testing his patience...
The hero's partner and best friend would shout out to him, speaking of a plan which her mind had conjured up. A good plan, it was. He nodded, and the plan was in motion before the great evil's eyes. He flipped once more, dodging an attack with perfect precision, all thanks to hours upon hours, years upon years of practice to dodge and win this intense, diffucult fight–
"Yeah, years and years. Also known as you got a sword and had about a month." Legend snarked. Wind closed his eyes, sighing in annoyance. He reopened his eyes, looking over to the asshole who had decided that now would be a good time to be snarky. He waited for him to speak again, continuing his story when the area was met with silence.
He dodged the attack with perfection, then held up his shield he did as his partner summoned magic; a holy magic which ahd not been used by her hands in a while. He reflected the magic off of his shield, first try, thankfully. The magic struck the great evil, forcing him to freeze and giving the enemy a disadvatage for a moment. The hero, seeing said oppertunity given to him thanks to his partners' magic, rushed forward, sword in hand. He raised his sword, slicing and slashing at the being of pure hatred and evil was temporarily incapacitated. His sword cut into his torso, until finally the end was before his, his partner's, and his enemies eyes'. He ran and jumped up, sword raised high and mightily in the air, and–
He paused for dramatic effect,
And he brought it down, the sharp blade of the sword forged for the sole purpose of holding evil away from the world piercing into the flesh of the being of evil, digging into layers of fat, bone and muscle. At last, the great evil was rid from the land for the next however long, and the amazing pirate-hero and his amazing pirate-hero partner had won!
Wind took a bow, grinning. "Thank you, thank you! Amazing story, I know, I know!" He spoke.
Standing back up straight, he looked at the group of heroes who all had various mixed expressions on their faces. A grin stayed present on his face, forever proud of his actions Except couldn't he have been saved!? He was a man, the only man upon the gerudo for the past hundred years, he was just as human as he was! Couldn't he have been redeemed, what was wrong with him, WHAT DID HE DO!? WHY DID HE The grin had slipped slightly, but he made sure to bring it back up, keeping the joyful atmosphere up around him. "So, any questions, lads?" He asked.
Many hands raised at once, and Wind knew that he'd be in for a loooong night filled with questions he'd be more than willing to answer.

Today I'm offering you soukoku angst (cw: major character death)
Dazai lays on the ground, blood spilling out from the wound on his chest but he couldn't care less. Well, he hates the pain caused by the wound but at the same time he doesn't feel anything at all.
Perhaps there's one thing he feels: regret for getting the agency involved into his last suicide attempt. He knew from the very first moment that they couldn't have won that war, so why did they try?
Dazai doesn't know what happened to the agency members.
All he does now is just staring at his enemy above him with a relaxed smile on his face, his head on Chuuya's lap.
"Oi Dazai... remember that shitty song you used to sing to me years ago?" Chuuya asks looking at him. His usual loud and cocky voice is now raspy; the tiredness is palpable.
As soon as he saw the brunet collapsing on the ground Chuuya ran towards him kneeling by his side, conscious that it was a fatal injury.
"Oh gods no, not that song again..." Dazai's tired too but still manages to chuckle a bit, memories flowing into his mind.
Back in the Port Mafia Dazai loved to torment Chuuya by singing him "You are my sunshine" on the way for the ninth mission. From the start he enjoyed annoying Chuuya with such disgusting and playful love declarations which, as the time passed, were rooted till something more deeper blossomed, something that went beyond mere jokes. They didn't know exactly when those words turned out to be more truer than they could've imagined.
"Thank you, Chuuya." Dazai mutters feeling his eyelids getting heavier and his entire body number as the time goes by. That's so good Dazai thinks but there's still a part of him that aches knowing what he's leaving behind. Who is leaving behind, again.
"Don't say that. There's nothing to thank me for," there's a sad smile on the redhead's face hidden from Dazai's visual. "I killed you, afterall."
An heavy silence falls on them again, they seem not paying any mind to the war that surrounds them. They seem to not hearing the screams coming from the dying soldiers, the sound of shots and the despair that fills the air. Everything in that place is drenched with blood and death.
"Wasn't that our goal?"
Chuuya stays silent. It wasn't he would say but knows too well that if he says so, all Dazai's beliefs would crumble. How could he force someone who's already slipped away from his hands to live? Dazai always trusted Chuuya enough to put his own life into Chuuya's hands without any hesitation. It was obvious that Dazai would've asked Chuuya to end his sorrow. It would've been Chuuya the one to take Dazai's life away. It's an agreement they made way before their feelings surfaced. It's an agreement made with their first fight ever.
"Can you sing for me, chibi?" Dazai doesn't need to say what song he wants to hear. It's not the first time that Chuuya sings for Dazai but of course this one has to be special. Tragically special. When Chuuya starts singing, Dazai almost regrets not asking him to sing more when he had the chance. Almost because what they had has been enough to quiet his tormented heart down.
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are gray"
For a brief moment Chuuya's lips quiver, his shaky voice shows what he's desperately trying to hide from his dying partner. It doesn't help Dazai who joins him and they sing along until Dazai is too tired to keep going. The bandaged detective can feel Chuuya's hands tremble but it doesn't stop him from stroking Dazai's hair.
"You'll never know, dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away."
That last sentence is barely a whisper and Chuuya doesn't dare to look down at Dazai. He closes his eyes and even though the battle rages on, the executive doesn't care anymore.
The song ends and Dazai is already gone. Chuuya places a soft kiss on his lover's forehead, careless of the tears streaming down his pale face.
"Don't expect to hear those words from me now that you're gone, Osamu. You know that I do."
