4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42
(Numbers chosen at random, no idea what questions these correspond to)
Weirder asks
Thank you!! Took this as an opportunity to ramble at length. You have been warned.
4. Which cryptid being do you believe in?
Listen, it is complicated.
I was raised in a type of Christian Animism. I have vaguely dabbled in Paganism since I was thirteen and and researching for a presentation on witches (historical) and instead found witches (modern). If pressed, I would identify as agnostic. I study literature with a focus on folklore and took supplemental classes in science of religion and egyptology.
All of this only works if I sharpen my Alar like I am the zumil and the world my kolee, until my mind is the box that Mr. Schrödinger locked his kitten into.
What Cryptid do I believe in? All of them. None of them. The ghost that lives in the linen closet at [hotel name redacted]. Frau Perchta, who is Frau Holle, who is god, who is dead. Myself. "Apotheosis can happen to everyone, although.... the idea of being godlike may be attractive, being an actual god is less so." (London Review of Books, February 2022)
8. How many water bottles are in your room right now?
SO MANY. I always have one by my bed and one in my backpack, and I'm not sure if it counts but a glass carafe on my desk. But of course then there's my backup glass bottle, and the ~7 PET bottles in varying sizes that I keep with my bags for cases of "I want to bring an extra bottle for my friend" or for isotonic or energy drinks or JUST IN CASE, okay.
If I don't have a water bottle with me at all times, I simply die. It is what it is.
15. Are you a parent? (all answers qualify)
Well no, but actually yes. Technically speaking? Absolutely not and thank the stars for that. Right now and in a broader sense? Yeah, kind of.
Look, I have two younger siblings who are ~10 years younger than me. I feel very, very responsible for them. I am at all times trying to make up for the things my parents are doing wrong. Right now they are off hiking somewhere for a week, so my older sibling and me are taking care of the kids (who are solidly teenagers but shhhh). It means cooking and cleaning and helping my sib go to bed without getting lost in the sauce and being emotional support and doing the are you winning son and the did you remember to drink some water. It's exhausting and it's rewarding and I love them so much. They are SWEET and KIND and AMAZING and TALENTED and I feel like that statement alone qualifies me as an honorable parent. So there.
16. Can you drive?
Nope. I've been "meaning" to learn for a few years now, but what am I gonna do, get a car? Har har.
Sth sth speaking from a place of privilege (comfortable seat on functional public transportation): it just seems like a lot of hassle and money just to drive a handful of times a year. Maybe I'll learn someday. Maybe this summer. Maybe never.
23. How do you feel about chilly weather?
For various reasons my body at all times demands
- a tight underlayer, preferably with sleeves (for autism reasons, probably. Without pressure my skin will start screaming like a freshly unearthed mandrake)
- long trousers if possible (see above, though it used to also be dysphoria reasons)
- a loose layer (for dysphoria reasons)
- and a scarf (for neck tension reasons)
So all in all chilly just works better for me than hot. Spring is my beloved because it's cold enough for some layers and bright enough to chase off the demons.
42. An app you frequently use besides this godforsaken site?
Currently? IED. It's 3D minesweeper, programmed by a friend of a friend, downloaded via F-Droid.
I have been clocking in almost 2hrs per day since I downloaded last weekend. It's fun, but it isn't THAT fun. Huge sigh.

yk what mutuals are asleep im gonna blab abt how much i love ibispaint :3
ibispaintx is my favorite mobile art app as someone whos been using it for like. three? four? years now.
the majority of its features are free. if you watch a short ad you unlock all the brushes for 18 hours, and while the ads are annoying and the fact that there are some features that are locked for premium users sucks, i still think it's worth it. (the most notable locked premium feature for me would be the lack of the gradient adjustment layer
stabilization. LIFE CHANGER TO ME <- guy w shaky hands and wasn't used to drawing w their finger. this + forced fade could be helpful to anyone having trouble with lineart esp bc we don't really have enough room to work from our shoulders nkjbhgvfc. it's honestly my favorite part about ibis. it's not super adjustable unfortunately but i really like it.
reference window. this ones a rather new feature but it can help a lot w proportions and ofc regular references :) you can add multiple pictures and resize both the picture and the window as you please AND you can color pick from it. the pictures will stay the same from canvas to canvas though but i just use that as an opportunity to have an image of batman looking silly on every drawing i do on ibis.
fonts. sooo many fonts and! you can download fonts into ibis too!
brushes!! you can customize them (its not the best but like. it works) and download them :) there's a color mixing mode that makes it really easy to blend colors and its super fun to play w that if you're not very good at colors yet. theres also fun textures. i think their pencil textures are the best pencil textures ive seen in an art program.
THE UI! ALSO ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS ABT IBIS EVER. the ui is super beginner friendly imo and it's not as cluttered as other programs (which is sm i personally like bc i find it hard to focus if the small screen im using is also cluttered. i struggle w the reference window sometimes
automatic timelapse + drawing time :)) good for keeping track of time and progress! it's vv rewarding to see the difference of a piece that took me 3 hours a year ago vs a piece that took me 30 minutes today.
clipping masks and alpha lock. I MISS THEM SO MUCH I WISH KRITA HAD THEM THE SAME WAY IBIS HAD THEM
SO MANY ADJUSTMENT LAYER OPTIONS. these were sooo fun when i had a vaguer understanding of color
ill update this list later it is so hot im dying brbsies. <3

TL;DR - Mutuals don't need to worry. I'm okay, just need to work on myself a bit. Also lots of rambling about an app that gets my to finally do everything I should be doing and feel better about myself. Essentially I finally found something that works with my ADHD! It's called Habitica, and it turns chores and habits into a little video game.
So one night I had another breakdown and decided, you know what, I'm tired of this stuff. I'm tired of being unhappy with my life yet my every attempt to improve it seemingly going nowhere. I'm tired of always cutting off contact with my friends and then having to come crawling back a couple days later because I miss contact. (To my mutuals who have had to suffer from that, including this time: see either start or end of post)
Suddenly, I remembered an app I saw. Something about turning your daily tasks into a little game. It sounded just like the concept I was trying to utilize with a computer program I made to try to get myself to do stuff, so I figured I'd check it out. So I downloaded it, went through the tutorials, and added a bunch of tasks to it. Things like sorting out my laundry in my room every weekend so I don't get a pile of laundry on my chair, refilling my meds at the end of the week, some habits I should get into, and tasks that only have to be done once, such as calling the doctor or filling out forms.
So the way that the app works is that essentially it's an RPG lite of sorts. The tasks are divided into 3 categories:
Habits, which are either things you want to start doing (ie exercising) or stop doing (ie procrastinating). You can give each habit either a positive or negative button, or both.
Daily tasks, which don't actually have to be daily, but they are tasks that need to be done every X days or weeks, and you cross them off every day. You can add a reminder so you get notified you still have to do them.
To do, which are just thing you have to do at some point. You can give them a deadline but don't have to. These disappear the moment you mark them as done.
So how does this translate into a game? Well, you start the game by making your little character (nothing too special tbh), who then has stats, HP, XP and gold. Every time you complete a daily, to do, or a positive habit, you gain XP and gold, and might get an item. Every time you do a bad habit or don't do all your daily tasks for that day, you lose HP. There are also bosses to fight, either alone or with friends, with each positive task/habit contributing to the amount of damage you deal to the boss that day.
This sort of thing is perfect for me. I might not care that much about my own body sometimes, but I do care about my little video game character. Which means that if I don't fold my laundry, that character will take damage, so I must fold laundry. I want to get more items and deal more damage, so I want to do tasks. And it's on my mind more. Because of it being about a game, I think about that I need to do it far more often than just plain chores. Plus, they're all actually listed very nicely, meaning I can easily see what I need to do. You can even add subtasks! (Though you don't get rewards for completing those.)
To my mutuals: I'm sorry for always being like this and yes I'm okay and I have loads of stuff to tell you but... I just need some time to myself. I'm still talking with a couple of people so if it's important I can always be reached, but I just need to work on myself before I can return. Once things are going better I'll come back and tell you about all the fun stuff that happened while I was gone, I promise! <3
I'm sorry for the length I just got a bit carried away. I swear I'm not getting paid for this ad.

Wanna Get Paid to Learn?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Do you wish you had a better understanding of financial systems, budgeting, stock market, cryptocurrency, banking, loans, etc?
Tumblr media
Wouldn't it be cool to have not only the opportunity to learn about those topics but to stay motivated by getting rewarded for the new information you learn? Essentially, you "learn to earn".
Tumblr media
This app I'm gonna talk about here will do exactly that and more not just for your well-being, education and financial goals but potentially can do the same for your community as well.
Tumblr media
HOW TO EARN AND CONTRIBUTE TO YOUR COMMUNITY BY LEARNING ABOUT PERSONAL FINANCES, INVESTING, AS WELL AS HOW TO MAKE AND SAVE MONEY
ZOGO
Download Zogo and get the chance to earn or donate while learning about personal finance!
Here's The Scoop
I just finished a few lesson on Investing and Stocks, right now there is a (4x) your rewarding results.
What's cool is that once you collect enough "pineapples" (Zogos symbolic point system, 🍍=💵) you can either cash them in for gift cards or you can donate them to resoected nonprofit charities.
Why You Should Consider Donating Your Rewards
The Trevor Project is a charity and cause that is very special and important to me, it offers help and guidance to prevent suicides among the LGBTQIA youth. As is sadly the case even in these more "progressive" times, many of our queer folk, our LGBT comrades, our gorgeous and wonderful community of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transfolk, queer/questioning, intersex, and asexuals, often face ridicule, hostility and hate especially in their youth.
Sometimes the abuse and bullying is too much for our bright little star children and feeling they will never escape the torture as social outcasts, sadly turn to suicide to escape the hell they face in their everyday lives.
The Trevor Project was established to assist our at risk star children and their families or guardians to prevent any more precious ones from sniffing out their beautiful lights too soon. It was named after a young one who had suffered from bullying and ridicule and who had them committed suicide.
Like many in our community, I have suffered from bullying and ridicule, even now as an adult it is still a risk that I am mindful of and have learned how to handle, as well as cope when such things occur.
I have lost too many beautiful souls to the horrid attacks from the ignorant on my friends, and loved obes who sadly couldn't get the support or hrlo they needed to deal with the onslaught of homophobia they faced.
This is an amazing foundation that has a lot of great programs that will help insure the well being of our LGBTQIA youth and help stop the bullying and intolerance that they will face.
If you feel this is a cause that you believe is right and needed then you can find out more at thetrevorproject.org.
About Zogo & Charity
If you want a way to donate that is simple and easy with options to donate anonymously or have your name be attached to your donation, you can do so by downloading Zogo.
Zogo rewards you for learning more about personal finance. You can take these rewards and redeem gift cards or donate them to certain charities.
Tumblr media
This makes it really easy to donate to the Trevor Project by simply learning about certain financial topics, taking a quiz, being awarded your pineapples (🍍) then you simply choose to donate your reward points to the Trevor Project and tap submit. It's that simple, and that easy.
Tumblr media
You learn more about being better at finances and making or saving money, get rewarded for your knowledge, and help out a noble cause in protecting our LGBTQIA children and youth from being harassed to the point of suicide. It's really quite incredible!
Tumblr media
You can get started on your path to financial smarts as well as become a contributor to the Trevor Project by following this link to download the Zogo app: tap/click here
Tumblr media
Check out The Trevor Project - it's a non-profit I just donated to with Zogo! https://zogo.app.link/fCnHkO03Azb

Aye i don't know if this is something you really have an answer for but i thought I'd shoot my shot. Any advice for someone who's just starting to draw? I know the general advice is to Draw More but the horrible beginner quality and lack of direction is really kicking my motivation in the shins. Idk, thought I'd ask.
On a related note your art is the thing REALLY giving me motivation to start trying to draw more. That's how i wanna be. The way you draw expressions is so good
Ahhhh thank you so much, that’s so lovely to hear!! Drawing is as rewarding as it is challenging, so it’s exciting that you’re getting into it!! Drawing a lot is a huge part of it, like when working out/getting fit, it just takes steady time and effort to build muscle. But it absolutely does help to have a direction on what to be drawing/practicing!!
Knowing the rules to art does actually help when you want to break them- studying life drawing and realism, though not my area of interest, has actually been hugely useful in applying to my stylized work. You can do this by sketching references online (pinterest is a good resource for this- people have ready-made folders for dynamic poses, angles, and tutorials, etc), sketching from life (a friend might sit for you, or you can find a mirror to draw yourself/your room/your fave stuffed animal)- these things are less about what you’re drawing and more for training your eyes and your hands.
When looking for style, it’s really helpful to study the art that inspires you and pick them apart- what is it about the particular piece or the style of the artist that interests you? How can you apply that to your own work? You like when an artist draws eyelashes a certain way? Try it out! And you like how a different artist draws mouths? Apply it to that same drawing! Keep feeling around and experimenting until you’re happy where you are. Your hand will naturally add your own personal flavor to these things. The important part about this is to have many different sources of inspiration.
I like to keep folders of art that inspires me, photos whose palettes I love, etc. When I get stuck, just looking through these folders helps center me/give me direction and focus, even if they have nothing to do with what I’m drawing. These folders are also good to have of faces/outfits/objects/interiors/compositions you find interesting- you’re absorbing all of this information as you see it, so compiling the ones that stick out to you is quite useful! I’m quite bad at making up outfits for characters, so I have a folder dedicated to fashion inspiration that I look at regularly.
There are many free tools at your disposal that professionals and beginners use as well-
I found tutorials on YouTube to be priceless- even just watching speedpaints (especially ones where you can see the artists hands as they draw) are more than worth your time.
An app that has saved my butt when finding a tricky angle for a pose for my professional work is Magic Poser (they also have an app you can download). This might be a nice place to start if you’re struggling with poses or anatomy- it shouldn’t be a supplement to drawing from life if you’re seriously looking to learn, BUT there’s absolutely no harm in having fun with it!!
Similarly, I’ve had friends use the sims games to build interiors and exteriors of buildings for backgrounds and trace screenshots they took. It’s a really genius shortcut. There are heavy duty programs that you can use professionally with the same idea (SketchUp being one), but the point being, you can use pretty much anything as a reference or a tool for drawing. Whatever will make it more enjoyable and easier for you is something to consider!
Anyway, I hope something in there was useful to you- an artists journey is extremely personal and subjective. It will take a lot of trial and error, but the key is to be patient with yourself as you learn this new skill. Above all, art should be fulfilling to you, something that you enjoy doing. You will likely have moments of frustration and doubt, as I have countless times and I’m positive everyone else who has ever picked up a pen has too, but a big part of art is perseverance. You will make it over the hump, and when you do, you’ll be better for it. So, lastly, and most importantly, don’t forget to draw what you like. It’ll be the thing that’s waiting for you on the other side 💚

i used to work for a well known retail chain. i was a seasonal employee scheduled 7 to 4:30pm, it was about the end of my shift and this old lady somewhere around 70s comes up with a bunch of christmas ornaments and stuff. i start scanning her items and ask if she has the app because a few of her items were on sale /with the app/, she didn't. got real angry i asked, snidely said "and I'm /not interested/, so don't try to sell it to me".
alright lady. i'm tired it's been a long day, Christmas time is always a long day at Retail Store. we get to the end of the transaction when she pays for her 20 dollars of shit and she stops me. says "excuse me. these three tree ornaments are /on sale/." pointing at the ornaments which were 1 whole dollar even when not on sale. and i reply "unfortunately ma'am they're on sale with the app only. there would have been a sign saying with our Retail Store app, they'd be 25% off. since you don't have the app I can't apply the discount to your purchase. if you have a smart device you can download it for free and i'd be happy to scan the code for you--" and she interrupts me to yell how she is /not/ buying the app. just give her the discount since the sign says there's one. why is there a sign that says it's for sale if it isn't for sale?!
well, ma'am...it is for sale. but I can't scan the barcode that will apply the coupon if you don't have the app. she starts /screaming/ at me. calling me a robber, a liar, me personally as if she didn't read "25% WITH STORE APP" and i personally faked the sign just to trick her. demanded my manager. i click the button that will cause my little buzzer to flash to call one over, and then turn off my overhead light.
when working the cash registers we were told by superiors to turn off our lane light if it was about a minute to our clock out time, so when we were bagging for a customer others wouldn't get it our line (not that this rly stops anyone). it was by this time about 5 past when I was supposed to leave so i should have done it earlier anyway. there was already 5 ppl in my line and my replacement hadn't shown up yet.
the old lady takes severe offense to my light being off, while waiting for the front lead: "you're a busy store on a Tuesday night and you're ~taking a break~ right now?! turn your light back on so you can help people after me, are you trying to make your company look lazy?!" gently explain to her that my shift was over at 4:30. she scoffs: "well with how busy things are you should keep working anyway. people need their Christmas decorations, /for the discounted price/." absolutely unbelievable attitude from this grown ass white grandma.
front lead comes over, explains the 25% discount is for the app only, since old hag doesn't have the app, she can't get the discount. takes seconds to download if she wants it. she is /furious/, argues, says she doesn't understand. we spend a long time explaining how the app rewards program works. she doesn't like it, doesn't get it. angry because "it didn't say with Store App it just said 25%." demands we bring the sign up where she picked out the Christmas ornaments to prove that it really said "with app only". neither of us have the time to do that. my Retail Store is very particular about clock in and out times and NO ONE is allowed overtime. my manager wants me outta there, /i/ want out of there. we aren't hunting through the packed-as-hell Christmas aisle to bring up a giant sign just for you.
so my manager takes out her app, scans the code, applies the discount, and this lady -- after thirty five fucking minutes -- snottily leaves with her newly discounted tree ornaments, loudly spouting about how this store has the "worst service ever!"
it was 25%. so, 25 cents off a $1 dollar fucking item.
she kept me 35 minutes past when i should have clocked out over 25 cents. i quit about a week later.

‘Nilla Bean (Agent Jack “Whiskey” Daniels x gn!Reader)
Summary: A cowboy in your coffee shop is not the way you’d expected your morning to go, but you’re not complaining; especially not when he’s as attractive as he is.
W/C: 2.1k
Warnings: talk of food/eating, brief allusions to alcohol, lots of flirting, sexual innuendos, I think there’s like a single use of fuck
A/N: okay I’ve been thinking about this FOREVER but I finally went ahead and wrote it!!! hope u guys like it, I’m a sucker for a coffee shop AU as a barista myself :) thx @theteddylupinexperience for helping me name it and motivating me to write it lol
Tumblr media
When you started your shift this morning, you’d groaned as you tied the apron around your waist, expecting an uneventful day. Most were. If you were lucky enough to see someone you knew or to have an especially nice customer, you’d consider it a good day. You didn’t know when you walked in that it would be the good day to end all good days: nothing could top this one.
Weekday mornings in the fall aren’t particularly busy. The majority of your customers come around the morning rush, and the remaining ones are usually retirees or house-spouses and their young children. It’s enjoyable, days like these, that don’t require you to dash about the shop.
The only problem, really, is having nothing to do. You clean the coffee grinder, wipe down tables, wipe down everything else, then do it all again. Restocking, usually an endless chore, isn’t even an option; no one’s using anything in the first place. You and your coworkers chat, deep-cleaning the coolers, washing the blender stations, and doing the dirty work. When a customer comes, you’re the lucky one who gets to go take their order and put your task on hold first.
It seems like you’ve done every task twice, even when your manager introduces yet another idea for you to deal with. To bide your time, you prep coffee for later, rearrange the case of pretty little pastries that sits next to your register, and doodle on your station with a paint pen, humming to the soft music playing in the shop.
People come and go, some picking up mobile orders and some ordering from you, some choosing to eat inside and some taking their food to go. You sip your drink happily between customers- a white mocha with caramel.
At one point, you’re in the back and washing dishes when a coworker peeks his head into the back. “Hey, you got someone up front!” He informs you, and you nod and wander out through the swinging doors.
Well. That’s certainly a sight for a Tuesday morning.
The man standing at the register is wearing a painfully well-tailored suit jacket, with gray tweed and patches on the elbows. Beneath it is a white top and a black tie, and the man wears jeans on the bottom half. Interesting.
Perhaps more interesting is the large cowboy hat perched atop his head. The man’s face, below the brim of his Stetson, is incredibly handsome. He has an aquiline nose, a neatly trimmed mustache that wouldn’t work on anyone else, and warm brown eyes that make you smile softly.
“Hi,” you comment as you log into the register. “Are you a part of our rewards program?” You ask as part of your regular spiel.
The man furrows his brow then shakes his head. “Uh, no. No I’m not. Can you sign me up now?” He asks, and his voice makes your chest flutter with the tone. It’s rich and smooth, with a beautiful southern twang.
Looking at your register and back at him, you shake your head. “It’s just an app on your smartphone, really easy,” you tell him.
“Ah, damn,” he groans and pulls it from his pocket. “I’m shit with technology. Why don’t you just… type it in here?” He says, handing you his phone with a notes page open. His thick fingers accidentally lock the phone as he hands it to you.
You tap the screen to wake it and find the background to be a picture of a cute little pig all covered in mud. “Uh, you locked it,” you chuckle. “What’s the password?”
The man looks down shyly. “1-2-3-4. Don’t make fun’a me, I’m like a grandpa with these newfangled phones.”
It’s endearing, you have to admit, and it makes you giggle. “Not a problem. I’m not here to chide you on your security choices,” you shrug. You type in the code and find the app, starting the download for him before handing back his phone. “Can I get a name to start your order?” You ask as you look up at him.
His eyes hold a warmth there, radiating off of his smile. “Whiskey.”
“Your mother named you Whiskey?” You tease as you type in the name, returning back to the main page of beverages. “Some kind of legal name.”
The man shakes his head. “Nah, that’s just what I go by at work.”
Whiskey likes conversation, you notice, and it makes you chuckle a little. “You got a real name then?” You ask him, raising an eyebrow beneath your visor.
The man tips his hat. “Jack Daniels, at your service.” He says and offers you a hand, which you take and shake.
“That’s a lie. You’re telling me your nickname is Whiskey and your real name is a type of whiskey?”
The man shrugs. “My momma had a real funny sense of humor, I guess. My daddy loved the booze so they went with it. I work for Statesman, so I suppose it’s fitting.”
“Ah, the distillery,” you nod with a smile, not grasping the depth of what Statesman actually does. How could you? “Well then, Jack,” you say with an honest grin on your face. “What can I get you to drink?”
Whiskey, Jack, whatever his name is, looks up at the menu, scanning the different beverages. “Well. That sure is a lot of choices. I’m new to the area, so I don’t know the menu yet, and I don’t know the first thing about coffee other than how to make it in a machine,” he admits to you. “What would you recommend, sugar?”
Sugar. Your heart beats a million times faster at the man’s words. You’ve had lots of weird and creepy men call you different things, but you’ve never been flustered and enjoyed it. This man is getting to you, quickly. “Well, how strong do you take your coffee?”
He thinks about that for a second, fiddling with the button on his suit jacket. “Pretty strong. A little sweet, with cream. I usually take it Irish style,” he admits with a chuckle, tapping a belt buckle that you realize is a tiny flask. Jesus. That’s not cheesy.
“Well, we don’t serve alcohol,” you laugh and look down at your screen. “We have all kinds of flavors.” You list them all off, off the top of your head, now staring at the ceiling to recite them all. “And our seasonal drink is pumpkin spice.”
The man raises an eyebrow. “Wonderful and all, but what do you like? You seem like you’ve got a good taste, darlin’, tell me what you’d recommend.”
God, these names are going right to where they shouldn’t, especially not when this handsome man is leaning on your counter and flirting with you as he orders his coffee. “I like vanilla.” You shrug.
The man laughs and stands. “I hate to say it, sugar, but I’m not a very vanilla man,” he says, his head tilting down and his dark, sultry eyes peeking out at you from just below the brim. His voice is seductive, implying something else other than the flavor.
Oh fuck. “Oh, not like that,” you laugh as your face floods with warm blood, anxiety coursing through your veins. “Not vanilla in that way.” Fuck, that’s even worse, you think and grip the counter so as to not physically cringe at your words.
“Not like that, huh?” His words are still so seductive and flirtatious it makes you want to combust. Maybe you will, if he keeps this going.
“N-no,” you stammer, looking down at the menu screen again. “I mean, I just think it’s underrated. People dismiss it as boring, but it’s really just as interesting of a flavor as anything else. It tastes really good with our espresso.”
Jack tilts his head to the side, a smirk on his face. His lip pokes out just slightly to wet his lips and you shiver involuntarily, your skin pricking up all across your body. God, you hope he can’t see it. “I’ll trust you on it, ‘nilla bean,” the man drawls and stands up straight again. “Triple espresso with vanilla and cream.”
You nod and ring that in. God, if he keeps going with the nicknames, you’re going to melt into a puddle here and now.
“What are these?” He asks as his fingers trace over the drawings on the counter, lifting them and finding the pink and green powder of the dried paint has transferred to his fingertips.
God, he makes you nervous, but in a good way. In the best way possible, a way that makes you want to knock that cowboy hat off his head and find out if his lips are as soft as they look. “I draw when I’m bored. It’s been a slow day,” you chuckle as your own fingers trace the crawling vines and flowers you’d painted there. “Sorry about the transfer,” you chuckle and your fingertips brush his, making you involuntarily shudder again at the contact. His fingertips are calloused and radiate warmth.  “Uh, can I get you anything to eat?” You ask and gesture at the bakery case.
The man inspects it for a moment, looking at the various foods lined up under the soft white light. “I’ll take one’a these,” he says and pokes a finger towards the chocolate chip cookies through the glass. You nod and take one out for him, putting it in a little paper sleeve and handing it over. “How much is this gonna hurt my wallet?” He asks, pulling it out from the back pocket of his jeans.
“Give me one second.” You type in your code for your employee discount, which takes a moment.
“What’re you typin’ there, ‘nilla bean?” He asks, brow furrowing.
Looking up at him, you push your visor up your face and smile a little. “Oh, I’m giving you my employee discount. It’s ridiculously priced here.”
Jack frowns. “You don’t have to do that for me, sugar. I’m just a regular ol’ customer.”
It’s your chance, you realize, to say something or stay silent forever. “Well, I like you,” you admit and take the credit card he hands you, swiping it through the machine. “And I’m hoping you’ll at least become a regular. I’d like to see you more,” you tell him with a grin.
The man’s face lights up, even beneath the shadow of his brim. “I’d like that too,” he nods and pockets his card when you hand it back.
A beat of silence passes as the two of you smile at each other, both of you lovestruck immediately. “Uh, your drink will be right up over there,” you say and nod to the other end of the café. “Are you going to drink that here or take it to go?” You ask.
“Oh, here,” he nods.
“Perfect,” you say with a small smile. “Then I’ll just bring it to you when it’s ready. Nothing better to do today,” you shrug and wander down to the other end before Jack, Whiskey, whatever can refute you.
You take the cup from your coworker, humming to yourself as you put some vanilla and cream in the cup, pulling the espresso shots. When it’s ready, it barely reaches the halfway mark of the small cup, so you top it with a little whipped cream. You suspect the man has more of a sweet tooth than he lets on.
Pocketing a pink paint marker, you put a lid on the drink and walk out to the dining room, setting the coffee down across from him. He’s munching on the cookie he’d ordered, looking up at you with unintentional puppy dog eyes. “Hey there.”
“Hi,” you smile and pull out the chair across from him, sitting down and pulling out the paint pen. “I put a little extra whipped cream on top. I thought it would go well with the espresso, make it a little creamier or something.”
As you uncap the paint pen, Jack’s brow furrows as he watches you. “Whatcha doing there?” He asks as you bring his cup closer to yourself and write something on the top.
“Being brave,” you chuckle and cap the pen, sliding it back. “I gotta head back. Enjoy it,” you say as you stand and pat him on the shoulder.
Only as you walk back to the register does Whiskey comprehend exactly what you put on the top of his cup. It’s your phone number, in that chalky pink paint, and a smiley face beneath it.
Jack may not be great with technology, like he told you, but he immediately pulls out his phone and takes a photo. Then he enters the number into a contact, filling out the name: ‘Nilla Bean.

How I accidentally lied to Loves
I like to surround myself with people who hold the same appreciation of Loves (yes, the truck stop/gas station) as I do. My mum likes Loves. My da likes Loves. Even my coworkers like Loves. Whether that's because they're ex-truckers and knew from experience, or were worn down enough by me talking about how great it is to just begrudgingly start liking it.
I like Loves.
It's my go-to sleeping arrangements, so much so that I will drive two hours or more over my preferred daily limit just to sleep in one. I had been in close to twenty of them before I noticed... the Loves Reward card.
Tumblr media
Ah... Look at it. Beautiful. I knew Loves had a rewards program, so the next time I went in to get a shower I asked the person at the register - could I get a rewards card?
She pulled it off the display and handed me my very. own. Loves Reward card. Wonderful. It was the second coolest thing in my wallet behind my National Parks Pass. I took my shower, then downloaded the Loves app (for free soda and other deals) (Yes I'm plugging Loves for free, bite me).
?
How odd. There was nowhere in the app to connect the card. Hmm... No matter, I'd just use the barcode if I wanted a deal. But every time I went to get a shower, expecting them to ask for my card, they would just tell me the total. And I'm too socially anxious to ask to use the card right?
So I sat on that thought. For a while. Fast forward to last week, I'm in a Loves, once again, getting a shower. And the lady at the counter asks the question.
"Do you have a Loves card?"
I was so excited, I pulled it out of my wallet and scanned it for... an error message. Everything clicked into place in my head as I pulled out my credit card to pay. The guy behind me pulled out his Loves card and said I could use his shower (drivers get them free with a fuel up. Thanks Idaho Falls guy, you won't be forgotten.).
See the card above? See how it says 'Professional Driver'? Notice how I'm not a professional driver? The app is available for casual drivers and truckers, the card, on the other hand, is only for truckers. That cashier so long ago thought I was a trucker. And so did the lady that day when I asked for a shower.
I have been mistaken for a trucker, at least twice.

About Roleplaying
The internet is really useful at bringing people together, but it’s also, in my experience, sometimes useful for someone to point out places to start.
Roleplaying is a vast umbrella term that covers a diverse spectrum of activities, and if you enjoy any part of it, you might want to consider trying other styles.
I say this because, as someone who has been involved in both the least and most regulated forms of roleplay, it took me far longer than it should have to find out that there are dozens of gradients and variants in between, and I want to get more people involved in that growing diversity.
I’m prompted to do this now because everyone being stuck in isolation has caused a boom in virtual gaming through apps like roll20, and I’ve discovered Discord-based text roleplay games that feel like the evolution of the LJ forums I used to love. So this is a great time to research, experiment, and find games to help keep us connected and sane. But finding the right game is extremely important.
Here’s the thing: there is a whole world of tabletop RPG outside of Dungeons and Dragons. D&D absolutely has its place in the TTRPG world, but oftentimes I see people frustrated with its limitations because they’re trying to use it in unintended ways. I’ve learned that different rules systems exist to help promote or restrain different kinds of stories.
I like to think of RPG rulesets as falling generally into these (highly overlapping and by no means all-inclusive) categories:
* Numbers-intensive, or “crunchy” systems are very granular and the most intimidating to new players. Crunchy systems are often built to try to quantify things that other systems handwave. There are players who really love these kinds of games. They can be really rewarding to master, for one. Because so much is quantified, they can allow complex interactions that other systems can’t handle, such as simulating the mechanics of a play-by-play fight between a werewolf and a psychic alien.
* In contrast, a Rules light system will try to lower the barrier for entry as much as possible for new players. It’s much more like collaborative story-writing, with the rules mostly existing to help tell the story, add an element of chance, and give the players numerical reminders of their strengths, weaknesses, and progression.
* Live Action Roleplay, or LARP intended systems are meant to be run live by a group of people actually acting out the characters, kind of like cosplaying an OC with a bunch of other people and doing improv of their interactions. These systems are designed for two purposes: to define the world and relationships between people in it, so that players build characters suited to the setting and know how to interact with it and each other, and to make the process of breaking out sheets (having to stop and calculate the results of something done by numbers) as fast as possible so people can get back to playing.
* Other systems are more necessarily true Tabletop. Some require maps and grids, different sets of dice for different rolls, or even armies of small figurines. In the old days, this could be intimidating because of the money and effort needed to amass materials, but these days, digital systems can let people play many games for free, and players who are more invested can spend money for fancier programs. Even if you just want to run your game over voice on Discord, you can upload a dice-roller bot to keep play transparent and fair.
* Another important set of terms are one-shot, scenario, and campaign, which are probably the most common ways of discussing intended game lengths. Some game systems are specifically written to be played in a single session and tell a single story. These usually have the most work done for you, such as handouts and schedules of when events should happen during the game. Other game systems have potentially hundreds of pre-written scenarios, which contain all the information a game runner needs to run one or more sessions through a pre-written story. Not every game is intended to be a campaign that extends out over weeks and months of increasingly hard encounters, and often shorter games are much better ways to meet new people, try new systems, or just have fun for an evening.
What I’m trying to say with all of this is, if you like roleplaying, there is a game out there for you and this is the perfect time to find people to play with.
Is D&D too rules-heavy for you? Why not try a rules-light system like FATE or Powered by the Apocalypse? The former is incredibly flexible and can easily be edited to fit any setting, while the latter has a dozen fun varieties like Monster of the Week (a Buffy/Supernatural show setting) or MonsterHearts (more of a CW supernatural teen drama vibe).
Do you like the rules, but not the setting, of D&D? How about Shadowrun, a near-future heist game in a Bladerunner-meets-magic world? How about World of Darkness, which has specific settings for modern-day clans of vampires, werewolves, fairies, and mages?
If you’re particularly fond of a certain licensed property, check around: there might be a TTRPG made for it. Star Wars has multiple systems geared towards telling different stories. There are games for everything from Serenity to Leverage, and many of these are available in less-expensive PDFs you can download to both save shelf space and maximize how much of your money supports the creators.
I utterly love some of these less-common systems. I love what they can do and the kind of stories you can tell with them. I really, strongly feel that if more people knew these options were out there, more people would try them and play them.

What methods/habits/tools do you use to keep organised and productive? How effective is it in reaching your goals and maximising your potential as well as happiness in life?
Combined with the following ask:
Mr. ENTJ, in a previous post, you mentioned you need discipline in order to be successful. When providing a brief explanation for discipline, you cited being organized as a tool for developing discipline. Do you have any tips or suggestions on how to be more organized, particularly in a career/office setting?
Any advice for an INFP on how to be more motivated and organized? I’ve just started university & I’m working on two Bachelor’s degrees at the same time, and it’s… pretty crazy.
Related answers:
Hello, Mr. ENTJ! Do you use any planners to organize your day? Do you write to-do lists (for a day, a week, a month)? What do you think about paper planners?
How to improve self discipline?
I don’t use anything complicated or fancy except for Google Suite (Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail, etc.) connected to my iPhone and Apple Watch so it travels with me on the go. That’s it.
Technology helps with productivity because it’s convenient but it’s important to stress that organization and productivity are states of mind– they’re not specific phone apps to download, beautiful colorful highlighters to buy, or books to read that will magically bring order to chaos overnight. An undisciplined mind results in an undisciplined life so if there isn’t real commitment to focus on getting things done and to stick to the beautiful plan you’ve created then you’ll fail. Period. I’ve helped countless people set up Google Calendars they never updated, pick out paper planners they never used, and schedule meeting/event notifications they ignored.
My mind is naturally wired to be an information organization machine. When new requests, assignments, events, goals, etc. are introduced my brain automatically analyzes, measures, and then maps them into a ranked priority list that adapts to new inputs. From there, I knock them out one by one as fast as possible. I don’t split my attention on many tasks at once, I focus my full attention on one task at a time but complete it rapidly and move on. This is what works for me, and it’s been highly effective in reaching my goals and maximizing my potential. I have, at all times, a clear mental picture of what I need to do, how to do it, when I need to do it by, why it’s important, and how it relates to the bigger picture.
The reason I’m able to do this is because I derive joy and satisfaction from completing tasks and achieving goals. The sense of achievement many of you get from a “like” on a social media post, the happiness from watching an interesting YouTube video, or the rush of adrenaline from meeting someone new and exciting– my mind is programmed to have all those same reactions as it relates to organization and productivity. Mentally reward and regularly praise yourself for a job well done and you’ll eventually be able to flip the perspective of seeing tasks as horrible chores to tasks as steps in a ladder leading towards your dreams.
Find what works for you by evaluating what you struggle with the most and creating a customized mix of solutions:
Is it forgetting important dates? Try Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook Calendar, post-its, and e-mails to yourself, etc.
Is it forgetting to charge electronics? Buy a power bank, pack an extra charger in the bag, reserve seats or desks by the wall near outlets, etc.
Is it losing papers (homework assignments, handouts, receipts)? Take a photo of it on your phone, use a scanner phone app, pack a folder in your bag, etc.
Is it eating unhealthy? Try MyFitnessPal to track calories, pack healthy snacks and water in your bag to avoid eating fast food, replace junk food in the pantry with lower calorie alternatives, etc.
Is it overspending? Try Mint, set up spending limits on credit cards and debit cards, designate certain shopping days or weeks to consolidate spending, use spreadsheets to track spend, etc.
The key here is to avoid overengineering the solution and to not build a process so complex and so complicated that it creates more work to maintain. Technology and tools can help, but they’re never substitutes for dedication and discipline. Find what works for you, commit, focus, and stick with it.

Day 14: Lazy Day
(okay lazy but not lazy)
warning: ramble about drawing apps below [and a WIP of something better than this^^^]
(*note* ramble is not the same as rant)
So semi long story about about drawing apps. I started digital art on my iPad with the wonderful and free (but with ads) Medibang Paint (that I still love dearly and will forever cherish for its ease of use and comic panel template creator thingy) until friends convinced me to try Procreate.
The most rewarding thing about Procreate for me was the time lapse feature, and that it keeps track of how much time you have spent on a drawing. (I like reviewing the time lapse and found that coloring takes the least amount of time compared to sketch for me [on the drawings that I do color].)
Then there is this app called Clip Studio Paint which I downloaded and then got angry at because I couldn’t even save or export anything without subscribing. It is a really cool program that very much resembles Photoshop and is pretty much just as capable from what I can tell that a lot of professional digital artists use for illustrations and comics and stuff, but for a hobbyist--like me-- the whole subscription thing was kind of... off-putting...
BUT, now this is a really big and probably silly but.... I like its default pencil more than any of the half dozen or so pencils that come with Procreate. So sometimes I sketch in this unsubscription-no-export-version of Clip Studio and then take a screenshot and finish a drawing in Procreate.
Today, I was messing around in CS and made this one sketch that I really liked so I caved and did the 6 month free trial thing so I could try possibly completing the drawing in CS just out of curiosity... and wasted all of my time doing that and almost forgot about Daily-Mai drawing. SOOOOOO, here is a quick left-handed sketch of Blanket-Wrapped!Mai because.... I too lazy.
And to make up for the shitty quality, here is the WIP off a request made by @yen-yen282 for a bored Mai wearing apron in Aunt Mura’s Flower Shop that I haven’t finished yet:
Tumblr media
Both of these drawings were done in Procreate. The monster thing I am messing with in Clip Studio will be hopefully a colored thing, POSSIBLY painted.... haven’t decided yet.
Also honorable mentions re: drawing apps:--> SketchBook by Autodesk is cool too.
TL;DR: I wasted today playing in Clip Studio [and making a big thing] so here’s a Blanket-Wrapped!Mai :)
Thank you for enduring my rambling (or for just glancing at my scribbly sketches)!!! Hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!

Robert Kiyosaki once said: "if someone invites you to join a Network Marketing
business, join the business even if you don't know what it is all about. But be patient and
learn the process gradually and relentlessly. Remain there even if it takes you 1-6
months to be successful in it because when the benefits begin to flow, you will NEVER
be the same person ever again."
People don't have the patience to build a business for 3 years. But they have the
patience to go to work for 40 years. It's crazy how some people feel that 1-2 years in a
business is a long time to get rich. However, don't feel that 40 years at a job is a long
time to stay broke. Change your mindset!
My name is OJO ENIOLA. I am a skilled Serial Entrepreneur, Digital and
NETWORKMARKETER.I AM VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT ONLINE BUSINESSES AROUND THE world
most especially in Nigeria. I am one of the pioneers of Forsage Smart Contract in
Nigeria. FORSAGE SMART CONTRACT is a platform under the ETHEREUM
BLOCKCHAIN NETWORK. I have discovered over time that if you go farther in life, Don’t
go alone, Go with people with the same mindset as you. Positivity and teamwork is the
keypoint or strong threshold that Forsage Smart Contract stands for. It is not a platform
for selfish and greedy people.
This platform was created with the aim of getting a lot of people around the
world to be financially buoyant in a space of 6 months and as such it is not a ponzi or
get rich quick scheme as it is an investment and every transactions is done inside
your Ethereum Wallet and It is no scam. Forsage Smart Contract has members
from About 100 countries around the world. This is a global platform. You can make your research.
It is important to know that Forsage Smart Contract can only be invested in
with the use of a cryptocurrency called Ethereum which is the second most
profitable cryptocurrency in the world. It is second to only Bitcoinwhichis the most
profitable cryptocurrency in theworld.
We all know that things are changing and we're gradually entering the digital
stage. There'd come a time when everything you need to get done will have to be done
digitally. Where will you be by then?
This also applies to cryptocurrency. When Bitcoin started in 2009 if I'm not
mistaken, the creator and some financial analysts specifically said
“CRYPTOCURRENCY IS THE CURRENCY OF THE FUTURE”. 1 Bitcoin was less than
$1 then. Fast forward to Jan. 2020, 1 Bitcoin was $10,000 that's about 3.6 million
naira. Now Imagine someone who bought or accumulated 100 bitcoins between 2009-
2019, as at 2020, he will have had
$100,000 that is 3.6 Billion naira. A lot of companies are now accepting cryptos as a
means of payment. In few years to come, Cryptocurrency will be of extreme value and
it's acceptance would have been more than it is today
Let me now explain in details how Forsage Smart Contract works and what you
stand to gain by investing in Forsage Smart Contract.
WHAT IS A SMART CONTRACT?
A smart contract or rather a crypto contract is a software program that is executed by a
set of codes controlled by the programmer to carry out transactions between the users
and the thirdparties.
In other words, a smart contract is a code that is run on the Blockchain network that
sets out certain rules that have to be followed by both the parties. A key thing you ought
to know about this business is that all transactions are done within the smart contract and
since no third party is involved, any earnings you make are sent directly to your
Ethereum wallet.
HOW DOES SMART CONTRACT WORKS?
Smart contracts run automatically and help the transfer of digital assets and carry out
transactions under the guidance and supervision of the Blockchain Network. The main
idea is to carry out the transactions seamlessly without being hacked or infiltrated by
any third party or fraudsters.
*NB:There is no way the system can be hacked because the Smart Contract was built upon the Blockchain technology which is currently the safest and most secured form of
technology in the whole world.
Since information stored within the Blockchain cannot be hacked, there cannot be an
event of the smart contract crashing.
WHAT IS FORSAGE SMART CONTRACT?
Forsage smart contract is a platform which allows you earn and accumulate as many
Ethereum as you want and you trade them for instant cash anyday anytime and at any
price you so wish depending on the market price of Ethereum at the Point of Sale.
The main focus of joining Forsage Smart Contract is to earn and accumulate Ethereum.
Now why must it be Ethereum? Why not Bitcoin or any other form of Cryptocurrency??
WHAT IS ETHEREUM?
Ethеrеum is a cryptocurrency (digital currency) bаѕеd on the blосkсhаіn tесhnоlоgу thаt
еnаblеѕ dеvеlореrѕ tо buіld аnd dерlоу dесеntrаlіzеd applications. Ethereum is one of
the leaders in the smart contract platform in the blockchain market.
Ethereum is completely decentralized and allows you to launch your decentralized
applications into the network. It is, in fact, one of the most trusted smart contracts that
have been used globally in recent times. Bitcoin cannot work on smart Contracts
because Ethereum was programmed with codes that made it suitable to work on
smart contracts.
TAKING A CUE FROM THE GROWTH OF BITCOIN TO INVEST IN ETHEREUM.
In June/July 2010, 1 BITCOIN (BTC) (The biggest cryptocurrency for now) was just
$0.008 (almost valueless). A lot of people saw/noticed the growth of BITCOIN then and bought/accumulated as much BTC as they could. Some sold there's along the line
some stored theirs until recently.
Imagine if you had bought lots of BTC then and you are selling them now that the price
of 1BTC is equivalent to #3.6million ($9000+). You'd be freaking rich by now.
Some years back, a lot of people missed a golden opportunity that could have
transformed their financial life. Those who accumulated Bitcoin then when the price
was still rising, are currently enjoying the benefits today.
GOOD NEWS!!!!
For those who missed the opportunity of accumulating Bitcoin as at when it was still
growing, today another opportunity is here again. It has come back in form of another
cryptocurrency called Ethereum.
ETHEREUM is currently on a big race with BTC. To tell you how fast Ethereum is rising,
Ethereum grew from $130 to $230+ just in one month. Ethereum is expected to hit over
$1000 by the end of 2020.
Forsage Smart Contract will enable you accumulate as much Ethereum as possible
before the value of Ethereum becomes unaffordable. A lot of forsage members around
the world have been making huge earnings from this business.
“Forsage Smart Contract Is A Global Business With Members From OVER
100 COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD”
HOW YOU CAN MAKE MONEY IF YOU INVEST IN FORSAGE SMART CONTRACT?
You make money through this platform through 3 main ways:
1. Spillovers: In summary, this usually comes from your upline or the person who
registered when he has excess registrations. The system rewards you for being a
downline of an hardworking upline. If your upline is lazy, it won’t come fast.
2. Overflows: This usually comes from the Forsage Smart Contract system. This pays
you with or without referrals.
3. Referrals: This involves registering people under you with your affiliate link. The
higher you grow the more you make crazy profit because we have different levels which
ranges from level 1-12.
N.B.ForsageisaWin-WinSituationforanyonejoiningtheplatform.Ifyouwant tojoin
without referring and wait for overflows and spillover, you can join and wait but do not
complain if it doesn’t come fast. However, if you are good with networking, team work,
referring or talking to people, you’d make a lot of cool cash in form of Ethereum from
this platform. But THIS IS NOT A GET RICH QUICK SCHEME as You will make a lot of
money in the long run. Do not be greedy or selfish.
THIS IS HOW FORSAGE SMART CONTRACTWORKS
There are two major structures under the Forsage network namely: X3 Forsage & X4
Forsage.
The x3 Forsage runs on a 3 by 1 matrix while the x4 Forsage runs on a 2 by 2 matrix.
Earnings on the x3 matrix are strictly through direct referrals while earnings in the x4 matrix occurs either through direct referrals, indirect referrals, spillovers or overflows.
With Or Without Referrals
What this means is that ‘Members who get referrals will earn on both the x3 and x4
Forsage whereas members not having direct referrals can only earn through x4 on
Forsage’.
Spillover comes from your upline when he has excess flow of registration as well as
overflows that generates from the system, it comes to you as direct earning which is a
spillover from Top.
Overflows is about you earning from the system as the system increases in registration
which can come from bottom or from the top.
NB: Through teamwork, you can grow as fast as possible by leveraging on the efforts
of different team members. Making money requires commitment, dedication and
determination. So if you are not ready to work with a team, I'm sorry this business is
not for you.
Also, in case your fear has been that if u join and you don't have referral then you won't
earn at all, these illustrations above should let you know that under Forsage, you can
earn with or without referrals but your earnings are faster and more when you are very
active. If you want to travel to Abuja from Lagos, you can either take bus or flight. We all know
you will get to Abuja faster via flight than when you take a bus. Earning on Forsage Smart
Contract through spillovers/overflows is like taking bus while earning through referrals are like taking flight. But one very certain thing is that, there is no loss in
Forsage Smart Contract. Teamwork is like an AEROPLANE that would take you faster

Karen wasn’t their secretary any more, but she still helped out booking their appointments, answering the phone, and so on when she wasn’t working on cases. Things were getting easier – their varying secrets were out in the open, and they were communicating more.
It took an embarrassing amount of time for Matt to realise that the emails Karen sent to both him and Foggy came through in Grade 2 Braille files. His translation program was good, but it wasn’t that good. Especially since it couldn’t account for typos, so he usually just read things as they a direct transcription in the standard 26-character alphabet. The fact it was in Grade 2, typos and all (bless Karen)… That… that implied that Karen was typing the emails in…
Surely not?
Especially since there was only one attachment on the email. It was… His fingers faltered as his display told him the file type – it was an .abt file – one that didn’t store standard text but was Braille-specific. He never really paid much attention to file types unless they didn’t open properly because someone had been foolish enough to send him a picture, so he hadn’t noticed before. And the email had been sent to both him and Foggy, which meant that Foggy was reading the same file as he was. Exactly the same, if visually rather than on a screen-reader.
What the hell?
He decided to test them. Not via the computer because there were too many ways to cheat with that, but he had other methods: he dusted off his mechanical notetaker and brought that into the office the next morning. The machine was clunky and loud, but it was a hell of a lot faster and easier to use than a stylus, and produced Braille faster and cheaper than the embosser they had saved up for months to equip the office with. And the next time he answered the phone, he typed out a note for Foggy and left it on his desk.
Tumblr media
Foggy, Mrs Ellis called for you. Can you call her back? I do not know enough to talk to her.
5552594
When Foggy returned bearing coffee (a habit that at least stopped Karen from making it), he called his client back almost right away. He definitely hadn’t had enough time to look up a translation: he had read the note as quickly as Matt would (probably faster since Matt would have at least needed to find it on his desk first).
Once he was done on the phone, Foggy crossed his office and came to stand at Matt’s door. “Not seen that bad boy in a while,” he commented, gesturing to the notetaker. “Did you bring it just to see if I could read it?”
Matt averted his eyes and rubbed the back of his neck. “Uh… yeah.”
“Took you long enough.”
“When did you…?”
“Dude, I lived with you for nearly five years – of course I learned. We got our bills in Braille.”
That was true – everything to do with each crummy flat they had rented together had always been in Braille, so that Matt knew what he was signing or paying. Foggy had enjoyed citing ADA to reticent landlords. It had just never occurred to Matt that the documents had not been provided in both print and Braille. Maybe some of them had been.
“And Karen?”
“We still get our bills in Braille,” Foggy pointed out. “Plus, she figured that it would be better if we could all read the same text, so she learned online. There’s even apps for it now. They’re good for sighted people, but you wouldn’t be able to use them. And then we downloaded some of the software you use so we can do stuff properly. I still kind of struggle typing like you do with the six keys, but I think I’m getting better. I make less mistakes, anyway.”
Matt could sympathise with that, although he had learned to type the other way around – he had learned with a Brailler first, then on a full keyboard. Going from one to the other was tricky and honestly he preferred not to. As Foggy had noted, he still used the keys on his decidedly more modern electronic notetaker rather than the laptop keyboard if he could get away with it.
“Karen’s getting herself certified, by the way, so she can bring some extra money in,” Foggy added. “There’s always people out there looking for a transcription service, and someone who can handle the legal jargon is going to be a blessing to the profession.”
That was true, to a certain extent, but it left Karen sounding more and more like an assistant again rather than her doing what she was good at.
“You’re over-thinking it,” Foggy told him. “There probably won’t be that much business from it – there’s actual companies out there who employ more than one person certified to transcribe. But, once word gets round that we can provide accessible services in-house…”
“Then we’ll be flooded with blind clients who can’t afford to pay us, rather than just the usual clients who can’t afford to pay us,” Matt noted wryly. “So are you getting certified in ASL too, so we can do the whole spectrum?”
He was being sarcastic, and he knew Foggy knew it. But Foggy was not going to be so easily deterred.
“Not a bad idea. Since you can’t do it. Can you?”
Matt snorted, amused even as he was touched that Foggy thought to check. “Even if that wouldn’t lead to people asking far too many questions, no, I can’t. I can sense broad movements, but there’s too much going on in smaller gestures that I can’t see properly. It’s like… I can hear that you’re fiddling with that pen in your hand, but I can’t see it.”
Foggy stopped fiddling with the pen. “Sorry.”
Matt rolled his eyes. “I didn’t… it’s fine, Foggy. It’s okay.”
“You know, I think I might have liked it better when I couldn’t see you do that,” Foggy retorted.
Matt grinned at him. “Yeah, but Karen complains if I hide behind the glasses when there’s no-one else around and, no offence, but I like the rewards I get for not pissing her off.”
Foggy threw up his hands. “Gross. I did not need to hear that. I… am totally over talking to you about your sex life.”
Matt sighed. “Can we go get drunk and just do it anyway, sometime? Because I miss that.”
“It’s Karen. It’s weird. And we didn’t talk – you used to show off and I lived vicariously through your showing off.”
That was, admittedly, true – to a point. Matt had never been above playing up his good looks and/or his disability to attract women, and Foggy had enjoyed being his wingman. Now neither of them had need of a wingman, since they were both blissfully ensnared by their respective girlfriends. Matt didn’t even go out looking for trouble that often any more. Hell’s Kitchen was finding a new equilibrium, and that involved the police a lot more than it involved Daredevil these days. He still showed his face every now and then, just to remind any would-be criminals that he was around, but on the whole he was enjoying an entirely different kind of life. With Karen, with Foggy and Marci, and even occasionally with a client who could afford to pay them.
“Can we just go out and get drunk, just the two of us?” Matt offered as a counterproposal. “We haven’t done that for ages.”
“Sounds good. I’ve got to get back to Mrs Ellis’ case, but we should do that. Tomorrow night?”
“Sure.”
Once Foggy had retreated to his office, Matt pulled the machine back over and tapped out a second message:
Tumblr media
Karen, Foggy told me you’re learning. I know you probably didn’t say because you wanted me to figure it out for myself, but you have to remember I’m a blind idiot.
But I’m YOUR blind idiot, and this is something I can help with. I’m heading out but I’ll see you later. Come round and I’ll cook for you.
Love, Matt xx

Two Popular Languages for Android Applications!
Tumblr media
Java For every mobile app developer worldwide, Java is the first and the preferred programming language for Android apps. One reason is that it's just the official language of
Android app development
, which means it's one of the most supported languages by Google and the one with most apps created in the Play Store. Java itself was developed in 1995 by Sun Microsystems and is used for a variety of programming applications. The Java code is executed by a virtual machine that runs on Android devices and interprets the code. Unfortunately, Java is a bit complicated and is not a good language to deal with when you're a beginner. This is the biggest obstacle for people who want to get into the development of apps for Android. Java is an object-oriented programming language with confusing arguments such as constructors, null pointers exceptions, enabled exceptions, and more. It is not very readable and you will use a lot of code for simple things. Adding the Java SDK can make things even more complicated. A programmer for the first time may have trouble finding out what Java is and what Android is. Development along this path also requires a basic understanding of concepts such as Gradle, such as the Manifest Android and the Markup language XML. For this reason, there are many communities in Java, and it is also one of the most versatile and widely used. Is it the best programming language you need to learn? In any case, especially for those who want to take full advantage of the Android development experience, starting from Java is the best starting point, if you ask me. For those who are worried about the complex code, it is possible to work with the designer for a long time and follow the tutorials for everything that is complicated. But if you are a beginner and can not wait to develop a game, or if you just want to learn something, and you want to start rewarding projects, then I suggest you start with something simpler and come back as soon as you have a little more work on the ground. Kotlin Kotlin has recently emerged as "another" official language for Android development. Some speculations suggest that this would probably increase the language profile and probably the next one Just like Java, Kotlin runs on the Java Virtual Machine. It is also fully compatible with Java and does not cause any obstacles or file magnification. The main difference is that Kotlin needs less "boilerplate" code, which means it is a tighter and easier to read system. Errors such as zero point exceptions are also eliminated and even justified to end each line with a semicolon. This is a great programming language if you're learning how to develop Android apps. However, you know that Kotlin is definitely an easier access point for beginners. The fact that you can continue using Android Studio is a big plus. It's not as easy as C # with Unity and community support is still in its infancy. In fact, at the moment it is necessary to download a beta version of Android Studio for immediate support. However, Kotlin should be on your radar and could provide a simpler entry point to "right" Android development, which is probably the reason Google introduced it.
