Roxys design is subject to change and you guys have already seen D1rk. Jane and Jake are in progress!!! (Also D1rk and Harley are the names for dirk and jake but weve been struggling to come up with appropriately fantasical/magical names for Jane and Roxy that align with magnificus and grimora😞 Harley feels old-manish enough that it fits in well… im sure well get there but if anybody has ideas feel free to comment ✌️)

Working with cyrus repliiku to flesh it out x3 he was the one who got me into the game and im CRAZY NOW!!!!

The four alpha scrybes methods of inscribing cards are that Harley uses his magic blunderbuss and the things he shoots become cards, Roxys cards are the fantasical characters she creates in her stories, Jane will be a detective of death, uncovering how cards die and writing up a casefile in her detective agency about them (might give her a magic magnifying glass. Well see), and D1rk were trying to figure out something with Sburbs captcha card + ghost captcha system like how Po3’s cards are printed from real robots

The students/the scrybes underlings are going to be other homestuck characters or splinters!

D1rks will be the robots (aradiabot, arquius (wanted him to me more unique than just brobot + hal so he gets to be a robot) and jadebot.

Harleys will be jake-ish splinters rather than new characters. Thered be the Adventurer (prospector), the Hunter (trapper/trader), the Sailor (angler), the Ectobiologist (mycologists), and the Actor (woodcarver) and his campaigns would be more Action packed like jakes action movies type stuff hehe

Janes will be the dead trolls, nepeta, equius and feferi. Not much to say besides them being dead lol 😭

And roxys were still figuring out but nerm. Viceroy/Casey, Rose (maybe goobert but they are actually nice and kind to her) and Eridan….(lonely wizard he was banished to the shadow realm for being annoying 😁👍)

Luke Carter is going to be Calliope and Satan in the greater scheme of the daniel mullins-verse will be Caliborn/Lord English because i think itd be very funny for him to just. Be making video games and thats his evil plot. LOL and Sado would be Gamzee. (Will not expand to pony island or the hex this is just clearing up the ending of inscryption)

Kaycee would probably be Aranea but like just some normal girl. Not all that sure abt the OLD_DATA tho ??? Maybe just all the wrong doings Lord English has committed and influenced culminated into the files or the code that brought him into the universe I DUNNO.

Retconning the drawing i did when i first scribbled this AU, i believe when harley turns the other scrybes into preexisting cards d1rk would become a seagull (kingfisher replacement) roxy would become a jaguar (wolf replacement) and jane would become a jackalope (pronghorn replacement) 😁

And the way harley would be defeated would be using his blunderbuss on him with a special bullet instead of film. Po3’s decapitation fulfilled the Dirk prophecy too LOL

I think that of the gameplay/card gimmicks themselves would work basically the same but i might try and come up with more creative homestucky twists on them

I'll try to use the most accurate language because it's improtsnt that people with NPD BPD and Schizophrenia and other disorders and disabilities are recognized as neurodivergent. Line one, I don't like that she says she's "a little spicy" and then immediately goes to "I have trouble with boundaries." If you can't respect boundaries, that's on you. I understand that neurodivergent people sometimes can have issues with boundaries like forgetting them or something, but it isn't a part of being neurodivergent. It's part of being human. Neurodivergent people are capable of respecting boundaries. Even if neurodivergency makes it harder to remember or respect boundaries, that isn't a silly little hehe, thats part of a disability that needs either work or some accommodation. This line doesn't have pure abelism in it, but I don't like the implications of it at all.

7. What annoys them the most about their partner? Would they change it if they could? KSKSKDF THIS IS a good question especially for medic and sniper as characters, who i think are perhaps a little more prone to... Getting Irritated than some of the other mercs! that said, i think they love each other for who they are and don't seek to "change/fix" them. they've known each other for a long time before dating and know their natures. sniper is as stubborn as a mule and medic can be really petty, but for the most part they're able to talk things out if they do have a quarrel. they like each other And their flaws (sniper is amused when medic holds a grudge against one of the other mercs for some Petty reason and medic giggles when sniper doesn't budge on something)!

10. Who drives? Cooks? Does the handiwork? Cleans? Pays the bills? Handles the public? OUWAAAA i think they can both drive, but sniper always defaults to it (and is the better driver). he likes driving so it's just an unspoken thing that sniper will drive when they go places; if they're on contracts and their drive is extremely long, medic will take over halfway through so that sniper can rest, though! cooking is split pretty evenly between the two of them. they both enjoy doing it so it's very much "for themselves" as much as it is for each other!! if they know one of them has had a bad day they offer to let the other just relax and decompress and they'll take care of cooking for the night! :-)

handiwork is sniper... likes to do it, too. it's the "ranchhand" in him!! while i do hc that he knows surprisingly little about cars, he's decently well-versed in everything else. medic loves getting messy and sometimes forgets (or simply doesn't want to) clean up after running all of those experiments or cooking, but sniper doesn't mind helping him clean up! it's relaxing for him and reminds him of home in a Good way; nothing feels better than a productive day!

with paying bills, i think they'd keep their accounts separate but have a joint one they'd put "sharing money" in; they pay their own bills but always keep some cash floating around for an impulsive "go on and treat yourself, dovey :-) it's on me" or a "i saw this and couldn't help but think of you, spatzchen! ^v^" HEHE! as far as handling the public, that's all medic.. the king of charisma!! i don't think sniper is Ever embarrassed of medic/having medic on his arm, but medic is absolutely the more social between the two! he'll draw sniper against his body by his waist or slip his hand in sniper's back pocket (possessive.... HEHE)! not because he thinks sniper's going to get swept up by someone else (i don't see either of them as being particularly Jealous people LOL), he just wants to show everyone that handsome bushman belongs to him!!! <333 hoo hoo!

i think they both like switching it up; neither of them are Stone tops or bottoms. medic is the natural leader (and the more experienced) between the two, and sniper is content to let medic lead. he knows he can "take control back" any time he wants (and sometimes surprises the doctor by doing just that! hoo!)! one of my favorite ways to think about bushmedicine is service top sniper and power bottom medic; medic teaches sniper exactly how he likes it and shows him how to please him! and of course, medic's bread and butter is exploring and learning sniper, so he loves doting on sniper and listening closely for things that make his handsome krokodil's heart do that extra little thumpa thumpa! HEHE

they both love to draw it out, love to tease. they want to make each other feel good, really good, and love that they're the only one that can take each other there! sniper's legs begin to shake when he starts getting really turned on and desperate for release, and that's always something that fills medic with giddy delight and really encourages him to tease his beloved bushman!! he loves slinging sniper's long legs over his shoulders and gripping his thighs, feeling them quake while his ear is pressed against that pretty vital artery in his thigh...! hoo!

medic's giddy giggles (and lip bites!) are music to sniper's ears, and he loves that he can pull those pretty sounds out of his doctor with just a few whispers in that low voice of his.... <3 sniper loves putting his mouth on any and every part of medic that he can, gently gnashing his teeth against his skin (and being rewarded with an eager "ohhh.,,.ohohohoho!"), biting, nipping, maybe even drawing a little blood... once medic begs him to bite him, well, who is sniper to refuse when his dovey is cooing so sweet? uUu

alternatively, i think if they fool around in the infirmary, it's much more..,., tender. the infirmary is a sacred place for both of them for many reasons; it symbolizes their Bond as Doctor and Greatest Achievement, [in my fics] it's where sniper left his mug that was the catalyst for medic coming to sniper's van to return it, it's where sniper helps medic tend to the wound of one of his doves, and [i don't want to spoil my fic so just pretend its Something Huge] etc. lots of emotional Stakes are held in those four walls! also symbolizes sniper's reluctance to ask for help in combat/just in general and so on..

i think if/when they did fool around in the lab, medic would lay down soft blankets/his own coat for sniper to lay on, face the bright lights away from them so that the lighting is a bit "softer", do little things like that to show sniper that while Yes this is medic's sanctuary, medic Also wants it to be sniper's sanctuary, too. body worship, passionate kisses, hushed praises, gentle, tender sex... oughhhhh i wanna write a full post so bad! maybe i will. hehe!!

as far as hard no's, i think that varies depending on who writes bushmed because like i say for me personally a lot of what i "put onto them" are things i like as well, since i wouldn't write kinky stuff for kinks i don't like ykwim! but all in all, they'd communicate very clearly before hand and establish safe words, hard no's, etc. i think medic would be Very Into doing that, and would have an easy time making it fun! like a playful little exam, hehe!! <33

A name he’s given himself, or an identity gifted by someone he holds dear. Sam bites back his smile, telling himself not to spin this whole thing up into something bigger than it needs to be. Then Rhodey lays on the horn, and Bucky lets go of Sam, and the moment breaks around them.

& last but actually least -competitive pay + benefits is the tentative(?) title for the office au! i hadnt looked at this doc in a while... the only coherent thing in it is a 'bonus chapter' thats not even in the mockumentary format???

For several minutes they were quiet, the only sound the faint crackling of the fire and Alice’s sleep-slowed breathing against her father’s shoulder. Despite it all, Anna couldn’t recall a time when she’d felt more at peace, even if she knew in the morning the weight of it all would come rushing back.

“When this is all over,” Kristoff said at last, “what’s the first thing you want to do?”

“Mmm…just sit in the coffee shop, I think, and talk to absolutely everyone who comes in.”

“So just going back to your normal routine?” he teased.

She laughed. “Normal things just sound very exciting to me. Getting back to the way things have always been, you know?”

He shifted slightly, looking suddenly nervous. “What about if…if some things changed? Would that be okay?”

“What do you mean?” she asked, feeling nervous now herself.

“If, um…well. I mean it, it’s really nice having you here. And it always is. And, um, I don’t know…I don’t know if you might want to, but I’d really like it if you, um, if you stayed. Permanently, I mean.”

Anna’s eyes widened. “Are you asking me to move in with you?”

Hey Everyone,

The battle continues, and in a direction that’s less than encouraging. Now that the Dhuvalian LIMB the ‘Dragoon’ has a more prominent place in the comic, I’d like to talk about it a little more.

As you’ve probably noticed, the MLaW-verse has a certain visual style, most noticeable in the LIMBs themselves. It was important for us that Dhuvalia’s Dragoon and the Free Market’s Outrider be very distinct from each other, but still look like they belong in the same universe. The feeling that we’re aiming to achieve is that of two conceptually similar machines, made for the same function; but manufactured with entirely different design philosophies in mind.

Mecha is an interesting genre, because it’s generally a war story, but it pulls heavily from both the superhero stories and soap-operas. A mecha isn’t just a war machine, it’s representative of both its pilot and its nation of origin, an avatar of sorts. It’s a conflict writ large fought by people and machines writ even larger.

I believe Matt has described the Dragoon as ‘The child of a BMW, a speedboat and a Harrier Jet’. It’s a high-performance machine made with no expense spared, designed to be both elegant and powerful. By contrast the Outrider is sturdy, mass-produced, budget-minded and the cockpit reeks of jet-fuel. While not direct analogies for their countries of origin, they give you insight into their pilots just by looking at them and watching them act. Or, at least, we hope they do.

Gillsing - Oooh, those are some brave soldiers there. I wonder what they were hoping to achieve? Better to burn out than to fade away?

Grudgesettler -  I recall earlier comments about the Free Marketeer mercs being poorly trained but maintaining a high level of professionalism. I wonder if this is indicative of that; controlled fire and good aim, but enough panic to briefly forget that assault rifle rounds won’t penetrate.

plaintextman - That is a good question indeed. Faced with such overwhelming odds? I’d rather play dead in the grass underneath the assault vehicle.

Killercow - Well, if their pay is based on how they do in battle, and they only took this job to send money home to family or something, going out in a blaze of glory might well be better for them in the short term. Possible life insurance promised by the company or something? Void if seen to show cowardice in battle? I dunno.

SteelRaven - Nice analogy between the two Limbs and the mecha genre at large.

plaintextman - Yeah. The feel of the two different mecha and the description Luther gives definitely show in the visuals. Hehe, child of a BMW, speedboat and Harrier Jet? It doesn’t sound too far fetched actually; they got a ‘classy’ BMW look, speedboat-like curves and probably built on Harrier Jet’s level of mil specs. Oh, and jet engines coming out of the axes, apparently! Overall I like this page and the Dragoons in it, but I’ll definitely say there’s something a bit quirky to it. Can’t place my finger on it, but some things look a bit awkward. The hill in panel 1, the infantry soldiers’ grip on their rifles, the stance of the Dragoons.

Sophisanmus - The infantry do appear to be shooting for the cockpit, which seems the sensible thing to do in such a situation. Alas, the viewport looks reinforced, if not outright armored, and on top of that the Dragoon appears to be using its shoulder guard to good effect.

Iarei - I’m going to go out on a limb here and say those Dhuvalian ‘Mechs cost an arm and a leg. Still, you couldn’t axe for a better machine. I imagine it’d be more handy to have that machine-gun shoulder-mounted, though. More seriously, I am interested in the tech of this universe. Seems like mostly missiles and ballistics thus-far. I feel like you should be slinging lasers and plasma around if you’re already rocking mech-scale optical camouflage.

Kasper -  Lasers have the problem of being without mass, you can actually block a laser pretty well with smoke, which we’ve already seen a great deal of in these battles. Plasma is just bloody hard to control, and drains energy all the time it’s kept stored, whereas a chemical propellant doesn’t cost anything as long as it’s just lying around.

plaintextman -  Ballistics and chemically powered weapons are WAY underrated in contemporary sci-fi. There’s a reason we do in fact have laser and plasma in industrial processes today, but by and large don’t use them on the battlefield as weapons.

Mr. Patenge - Not to mention that directed energy weapons require a titanic amount of, just that, energy. Powering a LIMB isn’t an easy engineering feat, especially because the MLaW-verse is devoid of ‘Phlebtonium’ fuel sources. As mentioned before, the Outrider’s engine/alternator runs on jet fuel. Not to mention, the KA-BAM of a cannon is far more satisfying than the Pew-Pew of a laser.

Grudgesettler - Good bye “melee only” theory, hello interior of the bunker! *ducks*

b wolfe man - After reading this page a thought occurred to me: do the free market mercs have any kind of man-portable anti-limb weaponry? I.E some sort of RPG, missile system, or BFG.

SteelRaven - Those rifles look like .308s and the trunks seem to carry .50’s, that may have been enough against Limbs of lesser quality.Note to self: get bigger guns!

Hornet -  Typically the best way for infantry to take on walking tanks has been the shape or satchel charge placed at the leg joints.

Grudgesettler - A satchel charge is always incredibly dangerous to place, though. I don’t think many shows do (or even can) do the act justice; I couldn’t even fathom the amount of courage it’d take to rush a machine under fire to place the stupid thing would take. Following that line of thought, it would seem beneficial for the mercs to focus on point-and-shoot styles of fighting. It’s easier, for starters. Far more likely to convince people to do it (greater chance of living and enjoying one’s pay, to begin with). And for the company, less resources wasted, both with training and with dead mercs. I see that affecting both overall numbers of experienced soldiers, and recruitment. A bit too long, but yeah, satchel charge seems really unlikely for these soldiers.Regarding the original question, we haven’t seen anything yet, but not developing something would be somewhat, well, unbelievable, to say the least. War and weapon technology is and always will be a race between ways to nullify enemy weapons and ways to nullify enemy armour, so never developing something of the sort would be non-realistic. That said, this is a mecha tale, so I’d say realism is up to our authors

Mr. Patenge - Actually the rifles are closer to a 0.4 caliber (they don’t fire in bursts or full auto) and massed fire from them and the heavy machine guns on the Work Horse Utility Vehicles is usually more than enough to deal with lightly armored vehicles, junker LIMBs and the other kinds of threats a Security Contractor would face.As for infantry weapons made to defeat top-of-the-line LIMBs. Well… you’ll see in good time.

Killercow - Well, seem like from what we’ve seen, all their anti-LIMB guns are mounted on their LIMBs. What do you use to take down a tank? Another tank. Thats just the easiest method.

cwDeici - Nope, the best way is a helicopter or a CAS-minded plane.

cwDeici - Mines are very cost effective for controlling where they can go though, if one can get them out in time in massive quantities (used to be quite normal to have minefields, and they will reappear in any war where the stakes are higher than international rules).

cwDeici - Anyway, I agree tanks ARE good for killing other tanks, but in heavy urban environments infantry do well against them and in open areas close air support does wonders.
