i know i said i was never drawing a tiger again but.

i was having thoughts.

Only about halfway through OUAW so idk if any information gets revealed about Frost's family/life before the Krew, but I felt compelled to make my own OCs n headcanons :3

Meet Breeze (Gentle Breeze), Cadence (Cadence of Water), and Cricket (Chirping of Crickets), Frost's father, mother, and kid sister respectively.

I'm not 100% sure what I want to do with Frost's backstory necessarily (or what's in canon lol) but I imagine they lived in a small farming village at the base of a mountain, and they themselves were farmers. Breeze did a lot of the physical labor around the farm, and Cricket really enjoyed helping him work the field. Cadence, on the other hand, was more devoted to the more homely duties around the homestead, such as cooking and cleaning, and Frost preferred helping her around the house whenever possible.

I think that Frost and Cricket were very close as children, almost like Laios and Falin from Delicious in Dungeon in terms of inseparability. A lot of their evenings were spent knee-deep in the nearby creek skipping stones during the summer or curled up by the hearth during the winter. They went everywhere together, planned their futures together, and she was the only thing truly holding him back when he was considering joining the psionic order.

Personality wise, I think that both Breeze and Cadence were fairly mild mannered. They both value balance between duty and enjoyment, that enjoyment can be found in duty and that it is one's duty to enjoy life. Breeze is the more easy-going between the two of them, embodying the concept of "one's duty to enjoy life". While he does take great pride in the work he does, he makes every moment a devotional act to being. He values his family and community above all else. Cadence, on the other hand, embodies "enjoyment in one's duty". She takes what she does seriously, and while she absolutely takes time to revel in the joy of living, she also takes great pleasure and pride in the work she does. She values hard work, particularly for her family, above all else.

Cricket is completely different from both her parents and Frost; she's a little spitfire who thrives on mischief. She of course knows that there is a time and a place for all things, and has no qualms about buckling down to do her work when needed, but she enjoys being rowdy and rough-and-tumble. As a child, she used to dream about either being a superstar bard, or an undefeated gladiator, someone whose name was known all across Avantris.

if Kal had been slightly more sly with how he went about things earlier on, Gunpowder and Rum, Part 3 could have gone a little bit differently, I think

and here's my explanation for how Samuel was possessed here, although it's certainly not the only way this could have played out (I took some creative liberty with how Kal's fog works, too, so it doesn't entirely agree with canon):

in Gunpowder and Rum, Part 1, Kal doesn't do anything differently; he messes with Samuel's mind a little bit, but disappears once Rose arrives (same as canon)

Kal possesses AJ in Gunpowder and Rum, Part 2, however, at the end of the song, when Samuel comes in, he manages to trick Samuel into having a drink with AJ. the concoction he gives to Samuel is one he has engineered to be "dormant" until activated by some of his fog.

Samuel goes to Margaret, still suspicious about AJ (I would imagine Kal said something similar at the end of the encounter to what he said in canon), Something Familiar and Antikythera happen

at the beginning of Gunpowder and Rum, Part 3, Kal senses his chance and sends in The Fog™, taking Samuel's body and leaving AJ's body unconscious for him to return to as a back-up plan.

That being said, you mentioned Mikey hates woody slightly less because he gave him pizza. Which, super Mikey style I've got to say, but is this the first time Mikey had human pizza?? I know they eat yokai pizza in huesos but like what the drax trios relationship with pizza I guess like why do they like it so much, did drax just get it for them did they discover it themselves ??

I'm sure Mikey and his brothers has had pizza a few times growing up, but I don't think they're initially as obsessed with as in the show. Honestly, I think it's less about the pizza specifically and more about the fact that Woody is giving Mikey free food in general that makes him hate Woody less. Then again, it WOULD be funny if Mikey found out he likes human pizza way more than yōkai pizza haha, that might also play into it.

To clarify, it's just Leo that hangs out at Hueso's, he views it as "his place" and doesn't want his brothers to know about it. Then he runs into Donnie there and it eventually becomes "their place", so then he has even less of a reason tell his brothers about it. In general, the Draxum family rarely ever went out to eat at restaurants because Drax is very much a "we have food at home" parent.

That's one of the main reasons they didn't eat a lot of pizza, I don't think Draxum would make it very often....... maybe Huginn and Muninn did lol. Mikey is also into cooking of course, so he probably made it once or twice, but it's probably Woody and Mondo that get him really hooked on it.

CQL as a show has a lot going on at any given point so i didnt really think too hard about chengqing then. but the longer i am in fandom the more angry i get. If it's not your thing thats perfectly fine, but it makes me sooo absolutely crazy mad when people read the canon as Wen Qing being utterly disinterested in Jiang Cheng, or Jiang Cheng as a despo who can't read the room. "Haha look how she returned the comb to this man, she's putting down his arrogance and reminding him how useless he is" like no!! She took the comb!! She had the comb in the first place because SHE TOOK THE FUCKING COMB!!! There's a reason the comb scene cuts to both of them having sleepless nights!!!

I've seen posts abt how reading chengqing as one-sided from jc is a disservice to him but it's an equally terrible read of Wen Qing too! How can you reduce it to 'haha dude getting put in his place by being reminded of his uselessness'? How can you make it that cruel from her part!! I hate HATE it when Wen Qing just becomes the smart braincell holder with no interiority, and the neglect of the kindness that drives her to help people time and again despite the risk to herself and her family bugs me so badly. She's kind. She's arguably the most tsundere fucker in the show!! How can you just never think about the guilt she carries with keeping the noncon core shenanigans from him!! How can u just ignore her desire!! How can you see her return the comb and not clock that she took it despite knowing it was hopeless. She's returning it because things between them have just gotten so hopelessly complicated that she can't carry it as a little piece of hope anymore. They were doomed from the start and still held on and it's heartbreaking how can you just ignore that!!!
