hi all, izzie's here! 🧡 it's been so long but I'm slowly feeling like making a comeback on this blog 🥲 I opened instagram, saw these pictures and after a whole year I fell back into the rabbit hole - or re-slipped into the diamond life, as one would say - so here we go again! I haven't listened to kpop in a year and I have no idea what is going on with svt, so it will take me a while to be back on track, but I really miss being here!

💖 Day 3.5 is now available! 💖

For the last couple of months, only Server Boosters had access to the 3.5 update... Buuuuut now it's available for everyone to play in the 14DWY Discord — and soon itch.io once I'm happy with the QA and state of the game — so please don't feel pressured to join unless you want to!!

What's been added to the 3.5 version?

📺 Streamer Mode!

I've been told that it's difficult to stream and monetise age-restricted videos on YouTube and Twitch, so I added an option to remove the sexual content and strong language used in the demo.

Now y'all can invite Ren into your bed for cuddles without putting your streamer career on the line /silly /lh

This won't affect the 18+ rating or dark themes/elements of the game, however! Although Streamer Mode will prevent you from seeing any "gruesome" CGs in the future, most of the core elements of the game will still be tied to the choices and decisions you make. So you won't miss out on the overall experience by using streamer mode!!

⚙️ Custom Pronouns!

It only took me one entire year to get around to it, but you can finally choose your own preferred pronouns (or use a set of pronouns instead)... At the cost of being able to change them mid-game ^^;

Since the original pronoun screen wouldn't update until a new scene was displayed, I temporarily disabled the feature. But once I find a workaround, I'll bring it back!

💗 Choose how others perceive you!

You can now choose how the cast and narration perceive you! Originally, the narration was kept strictly gender-neutral (outside of pronouns and genitalia picked by the player), but this will soon change in future updates.

For more clarity: you don't get to choose the words specifically, but you can choose between masculine, feminine, and androgynous terms!

📋 Separate top and bottom genitalia!

You can now choose your tatas and pps separately! >:3

Alongside that, you can also choose your preferred body type!

I removed the "both" genitalia option because a few players still assumed it was an obscure version of "intersex". That wasn't my intention and I don't want to mislead anyone, so I took it out for now ^^;

I also didn't want to include a screenshot of the new genitalia choices in action (because it's NSFW), so y'all get the same character menu screen for the nth time instead lmao

📱 Relationship Screen Overhaul!

You can now change your own status for more immersion, and long-term Server Boosters will eventually be able to submit and use their own icon within the game as well!

Stalking finding your friends has now become easier by using "Buddy Maps"; a new app that allows you to see the location of all the cast members!

I want to offer players more incentive to check the relationship screen since they tend to miss the status updates, so hopefully this might help ;v;

It also says it "updates every few hours" so folks don't go overboard and check every 5 seconds to see where Ren is gdsghf (also keep in mind that he's a hacker lol)

🖤 Additional Scenes Update!

Day 2 received a brand new CG!!!!! Originally, I planned on only adding a few CGs sporadically throughout the game, but it didn't feel right to leave Day 2 so... empty... so I added a brand new CG to (hopefully) make things feel more balanced and natural!

If you decline Teo's offer on Day 3, Leon will now call and try to convince you to reconsider. However, players are still allowed to decline, and if they do, they'll reach a dead end.

After listening to feedback on itch, I changed some of the dialogue during Days 1-3 to make it seem more consistent! They're only small changes though, so it's honestly not worth looking for sdgjssga

🎶 Updated BGM and SFX!

I wanted to try out a different style of music to see if it fits the vibe of 14DWY more! The BGM features more acoustics to suit the "beachy" theme of Corland Bay, though I made a conscious effort to include piano elements as well to stay true to the original!!

I figured it'd be better to give players a live example before I make a poll (to see if they prefer the change or not) and publish it to Itch.

Some new SFX have also been added, though it's very minimal and honestly not that noticeable.

How to download and play the update?

(warning: clicking on the following links will open Discord!!) To download the Day 3.5 update, simply join the 14DWY Discord server, verify your age, and visit the "14dwy-updates" channel!

Alternatively, you can also wait until the update is publicly released on Itch to play it as well!! (It normally gets released shortly after a round of QA testing/getting feedback from the server, though I may release it earlier if I feel like it hehe ^^)

speaking of katsflora, there's at least one straight up transmisogynistic post with no connection to plant there. this is her blog on which she mainly posts pretty pictures. probably reblogged to the wrong blog

the extremely aggressive transphobic blog that changes urls every now and again (henceforth known as That Blog) has reblogged havekat since its start in... 2018? i can't see the archive anymore, i guess tumblr is being tumblr about it. it's still actively reblogging her art as well as having a painting of hers as a header. kate is obviously fine with this blog promoting her, which would lead one to assume she is fine with extremely hateful people promoting her

she often talks on havekat about her stalker/harasser but never goes into detail. this is fine, no one is entitled to share details about shit like that. however, she often talks about being suicide bated. in her latest posts she talks about The Anon (an anti-kate anon who we guess is her stalker) going around is spreading lies about her and talking about how she is a failure. she never says what the lies are. the anon also never says she's a failure, but this is kinda pedantic of me to point out

she never publishes the harassing anons she herself gets that are presumably suicide bating her. that's obviously fine as most people don't want shit like that plastered on their own blogs. ...except that she uses this as one of her main points fishing for sympathy. she is also very quick to publish any other asks she gets however abusive language they have

That blog has reblogged kate's art since its start, several years back. lots of the art uses the same tagging style as kate has. however, tags can be changed retroactively. with a tag changer it's easy and quick

the two blogs have a similar typing style, but lots of people on tumblr do, so it's not really anything. it's also not that hard to mimic other people's "tones" if they're not already similar

the blogger has "slipped up" a couple of times and hinted at or admitted to being kate. could be a determined hater or it could be kate. we have no such slip-ups from havekat or katsflora, at least not from what i could find. havekat doesn't even promote katsflora and afaik it's her blog

That blog has, again, kate's art as its header. kate had a public freakout about someone adding descriptions to her paintings, so if she didn't like That Blog she would likely be public about not tolerating her (i assume based on content etc) using kate's art as a header

i cannot stress enough how violent the content of That Blog is. it's extremely transphobic. the "infiltration of women's spaces" (aka trans women existing) seems to be the blogger's biggest hate subject

whenever there's a fuss around kate possibly running That Blog the blog changes url. some drama hungry shit is keeping track of them and making sure people can find the newest url. search and you will find. i won't link That Blog or the url tracking blog bc i don't want people exposed to this shit too easily

my take from all this is that kate is a terf, and a really slimy one at that

at the base level she is totally fine with having radfems, terfs and transphobes promoting her. she has been fine with terfs and transphobes since before her money struggles. she is still fine with this. i understand how desperate she could be and needing to find support wherever she can, but by trying to play two fields she is at risk of losing everything. either she is fine with terf ideology and loses all her trans and ally support, or she takes a stance against it and loses that side instead. from what i've gathered lots of terfs are against her bc she's playing with the enemy i guess

she could have been vibing with terf ideology but grown into a healthy mindset right before the money issues hit and so never bothered to unfollow and/or block people in order to gain as big of an audience as possible. but i dunno. people calls her out right and left and she continues to be shifty around it all

as for me i will continue to operate under the assumption that she is a terf and i will warn others that supporting her means, sadly, not only that they are supporting someone in need of help, but someone who is also promoting a politic that is killing people

This is your irregular reminder that if you are frustrated with a fic not being finished with, it's not just probable but likely that your pet fanwriter is more frustrated with it than you could ever be. Be nice to your pet fanwriter, it's tough out there when the muse isn't talking to you & life isn't going well. Please don't assume we just don't care or have abandoned stories without saying so, & bear in mind that approaching comments with that attitude is also absolutely the worst way to achieve your desired result. Absolutely nothing is as dispiriting to me personally as getting a comment that's just complaining that something hasn't been updated, or badgering me about something that hasn't been explained yet.

That's not to say that you can't ask for updates! I love when people are excited to read more. Just don't demand, don't act entitled, don't assume your pet fanwriter just couldn't be arsed.

Ways to ask that don't make me want to throw something:

"I loved this story, I'm subscribing!"

"I can't wait to see what happens next, I really enjoyed XYZ thing that happened in this chapter."

"I'd love to see more in this 'verse, but I really enjoyed this."

"[if you're a writer, any kind of empathetic understanding that writer's block sucks]."

"[Almost any kind of real review] Looking forward to more/Can't wait for the next chapter!"

Basically, let your pet fanwriter know what you enjoyed, let them know that you're excited for more, but don't act like you paid them for a complete story and only got half. We write fanfic for free, for love of the show/book/media and for love of the fandom. We get paid in kudos and comments only. We have lives, some of them more conducive to turning out fic regularly than others. We too have been affected by the pandemic and other shit that's happening in the world.

And I cannot overstate this, so I'm saying it again: complaining, demanding, etc, do not get you the result you want. Well okay, there may be a few people out there for whom someone stomping into their inbox and going "WHERE'S THE NEXT CHAPTER?" will work, but they're the exception, not the rule. I have talked with at the very least dozens and dozens, if not hundreds, of fanwriters over multiple fandoms, and I've yet to meet one who gets a comment like that and is inspired to go to their word processor. At best, it makes them go "ahhh shit I guess it's been a while since I updated that"; at worst (and in my experience most common), it puts them off writing that particular story or possibly anything, because the only feedback they're getting is "not good enough, not fast enough, you owe me more" and that sucks.

(If you know the person very, very well and know they will take it as a joke or that they are one of the few who gets inspired by this, that's the exception, but don't do it on stories written by people who are strangers to you.)

Frankly, you're much, much more likely to prod your pet fanwriter into creating more by typing "♥️" and hitting the kudos button than by trying to guilt them into it. Guilt doesn't work. Encouragement does. If your desired end result is "they finish the story" then "why haven't you finished the story/where is the next chapter/update soon" is absolutely not going to achieve that. It's helping absolutely no one.

Train yourself to leave a heart or a "loved this, can't wait for more" or even just a kudos instead of a demand, and you at the very least have not made your fanwriter feel useless that day, and might have inspired them go back to the coalface.

At the end of the day, it boils down to treating your pet fanwriter as a human whose life probably doesn't revolve solely around updating the one fic you're obsessed with. Have a heart, that's all 🙂
