Dear B,
Once again I am going to send you a question about your relationships / selfships since they're very cute and they also warm my heart. <3
This time, my question is on what kind of dates you'd like to go with your beloveds đ maybe a picnic? Or to a restaurant? Or something else?
I can't wait to know, but please take your time to answer this too <3
Have a nice day and get enough rest! â€ïž
Sincerely, Dresvi
sorry i ended up just writing dimitri lol-
âȘïžDimitri Alexandre BlaiddydâȘïž
Dimitri knows it's not really a date. He didn't get his hopes up. When Brynn said she had nothing better to do in the weekend and he invited her out for lunchâ she knew she didn't mean anything when she was eager to go to a infamously romantic location. Dimitri knew her all too well, that this will all miraculously circle back to her hobbies. So what if they're alone, just the two of them, in a restaurant inside Enbarr where couples propose all the time...
"Oh ho ho, I can't believe it, look at how cute the glasses are!!!" Brynn began scavenging her bag for her sketchbook and charcoal. "I have to use this for the next chapter!"
The King smiled weakly.
Yeah. He really didn't get his hopes up that this is a date. Of course he didn't. Her biggest solace in life were the children's storybooks she publishes (and the deranged short stories she puts out under a secret pen name, but he'd rather not give her a heart attack). He's really not offended.
But Dimitri's sure everyone can agree that it still stings when someone is this dense.
"I-It sure is." Dimitri cleared his throat. "Would you like to purchase some for yourself? I'm certain I could talk to the staff and inquire where they sourced them."
Brynn beamed. "Really?!"
Suddenly, whatever pain Dimitri felt disappeared for a while. What an adorable smile.
She slapped her cheek. "No! Get it together, Brynn. You're here to relax and not work on your monthly novel."
"It's fine, I'm sure the children would be happy to read about the restaurants in the former Adrestrian territory." Dimitri laughed softly. "Some might even consider the story as their first road trip."
Brynn looked away, adjusting her collar. "Right... It's for the children reading, hmm."
Ah. So she's not using this experience as material for children's books, but for "Cranberry N.V. Tilde."
Dimitri couldn't help but gulp. He's unsure just how she'd use this not-date as material for that side hustle of hers. When she writes as Cranberry, a seemingly romantic story ends in a tragic ending.
Is he... going to be a character in that next volume?
"Good afternoon, and welcome to the Golden Hour. I trust that you are both enjoying the ambiance? May I take your order when you're ready? Or perhaps you'd prefer a recommendation from our seasonal favorites?"
A waiter broke him out of his trance. Brynn stared at the waiter, memorizing his details. Silver hair, placid smile, and a name tag that boasts a unique name. Elzer.
"Salutations to you as well, Elzer." Brynn smiled. "Any dish will suffice, but is there anything you could recommend for us?"
Elzer doesn't seem to notice that he's serving the King and a war veteran. "Why, of course. I'd dare say you can't go wrong with a Chùteaubriand for Two and CrÚme Brûlée as a side dish. You both would certainty not be the first pair of lovers to order this in their date."
L-Lovers?
Dimitri felt heat rising up his cheeks. "Oh, w-we're not a-"
"We offer a couple's discount for those combination."
"We'll take it, thank you!" Brynn smiled. "I believe that would be all. Oh, and perhaps maybe add charcuterie and cheese board in our order."
"Very well, thank you for your patronage. Enjoy the rest of the evening, Mister and Missus."
"No, thank you for your service, Sir Elzer." Brynn nodded.
Dimitri's eye widened. Missus? Not Miss? Missus as in the honorific used for a married woman? The server thinks Brynn's his wife?
B-Brynn? A-And him? Married?
He wanted to let out a soft scream for a moment. If it weren't uncouth and an obvious sign that his body was shaking in pure joy, Dimitri would've done so already.
The King doesn't say a word as the server leaves. Slowly, he turns to look at Brynn, hoping his facial expression didn't give his thoughts away.
Fortunately for him, Brynn is caught up in her own "research."
"Elzer... That's a nice name... I should use that for the uncle character who helps Desmond hide the body..." Brynn muttered.
Dimitri pinched his nose. Here he was, panicking over how their relationship is being misunderstood while she's thinking about a fictional murder.
Brynn cleared her throat.
"I don't even know what a Chaytoobrainfohtoo is but it sounds lovely! Have you eaten some before, Dimi?" Brynn chirped, her commoner tongue far too evident. "I wonder how it tastes."
"My father and step-mother would eat the dish frequently. Very frequently when they're in a... sappy mood."
"Why, the chefs must be tired of cooking the dish at least four times a day then."
"No, Brynn, the dish is... shared." Dimitri swallowed, face red. "It's a lovers' dish for a reason. In fact, it's customary in Adrestria to share u-utensils when eating it..."
Brynn paused.
"Oh."
Personally, it doesn't really matter to her. She shared meals with Raphael and Ignatz all the time. But no matter what disguise he wore, her company this afternoon is still the King.
Dimitri inhaled sharply. "No matter, it's a small serving, you may have it all-"
"Nah, I'll just use my hands, you can use the fork and knife or whatever." She waved dismissively.
"What?! Nonsense, I wouldn't allow you to. If anything, it is I should be using my bare hands." Dimitri yell-whispered, his face etched with pure worry.
"I'm sorry, Your Majesty, but no way." Brynn shook her head. "I'm the commoner here, not you, silly."
Dimitri's gaze softened. "Brynn."
From another table, an old couple could be found laughing at their antics. There's much speculation on their minds, though most words spared were inaudible, both Brynn and Dimitri heard the last bits and pieces.
"Young love, they're so shy they can't even share a fork!"
"They're just like us decades ago, aren't they, my heart?"
"Oh beloved, it seems only yesterday when you gathered up the courage to have lunch with me here in the Golden Hour..."
"Ah, I was such a ragged young lad! I couldn't even reckon that you'd accept."
"As if it's possible for me to be blind when your feelings are known throughout the continent, my heart."
If Dimitri could get any more red from embarrassment, it would've happened. It was one thing to be mistaken for a married couple by the server, but another for grandparents to think they're recently courting each other.
He can't even tell her that, to him, this is their first date!
Truth be told, Dimitri's jealous of the old couple. At least the grandma was sharp enough to know when she's being asked on a romantic date. Not... a relatively short vacation with a royal friend.
Forget it! Might as well be bold.
"... Brynn."
The professor tilted her head. "Hmm? What's on your mind?"
"Let's share a meal." Dimitri told her earnestly. "Like real lovers do."
Dimitri saw it. Even with just an eye left, there's no way it was a trick of the mind. Her lips. It twitched upward for a second. She grinned for a bit.
Brynn closed her eyes.
"Sure. I wouldn't mind. After all, Dimitri..."
Her stare was different this time. Her eyelids were low enough to suggest something playful. Something that is an experience and a writing material to her, but a memory of a lifetime to him.
Brynn places a hand above his.
Something tells Dimitri that this will not end up in a children's book, but in a Cranberry N.V Tilde short story...
"While we're here in the Golden Hour, you're my husband, aren't you?" She winked.
... Yet here he was, praying to the Goddess that just this once, the protagonists will have a happy ending.

Waiting For You Part Six (Ford Pines x Reader) Home In Your Arms
She awoke before the dawn as usual. Under the blankets was warm. Although the boat was cold Fordâs body, which was firmly pressed against hers, provided plenty of heat. The gentle swaying of the boat would have made it easy to fall back asleep, but since the weather was supposed to be clear today, she decided to get up and watch the sunrise.
Gently slipping out of the covers, and out of Fordâs grasp, she quickly dresses into more layers before quietly stalking up on the deck. She could still hear the heavy breaths and snores coming from the cabin below. The deck was even colder than the cabin, and there was a layer of frost on the upper windows. She quickly made a cup of coffee then downed it, then leaned against the front railing, and waited for the sunrise as the clouds on the horizon turned pink.
She was lost in thought, so when someone wrapped their arms around her waist she jumped. The person behind her chuckled and she let out a sigh.
âIâm sorry, I didnât mean to scare you.â Fordâs lips are right next to her ears, his stubble is scratchy on her skin.
She lets out a hum, then turns around in his arms to face him. âYou could still be sleeping.â
He begins to plant gentle kisses to her cheek. âCouldnât without you.â
She giggles and places a hand on his cheek, her thumb runs over his stubble.
âWhy are you up so early?â He almost whines against her skin, still leaving soft kisses on the small amount of skin exposed on her cheeks and upper neck.
She let out a content sigh. âWeather is supposed to be clear. I wanted to watch the sunrise. Would you like to join me?â
He moves his head up and presses his forehead to hers. âIâd love to.â
She leans forward the inch she needs to so she can plant a kiss on Fordâs lips. Itâs soft, but conveys so many feelings. Love, affection, the sense of being home.
Ford tries to lean forward for another kiss but she quickly turns around. He lets out an exasperated sigh.
âSorry, but the sun rises this way.â She teases.
Fordâs hand is on the back of her neck, moving the hair away from it so he can press more kisses to her skin.
âYouâre in a very touchy mood this morning.â She comments, leaning her back against his chest.
âDo you want me to stop?â He murmurs, lips still on her skin.
âNo,â she quickly tells him. âJust an observation.â
He leaves a few more kisses on her skin before her hand wraps around his. âFord, look.â
The sun had just peaked above the horizon, brilliant oranges and yellow began to fill the sky, casting warm rays of light on the small sleepy fishing village they had docked near. Soon the warm rays fell onto her face. âIsn't it beautiful?â
âNot more so than you.â Ford tightens his grip around her waist and rests his chin against the top of her head.
Sheâs glad Ford canât see the blush on her face. Even after thirty plus years had passed, he could still make her blush. She was about to say something modest back to Ford until she heard a burp and scratching noises.
âUgh, get a room.â Stanley had obviously joined them on deck.
âWe have a room.â She rolls her eyes. âI think you forget we share sometimes. Your memory is slipping old man.â She teases without moving from Fordâs grip.
âYeah, yeah.â He waves her comment away before heading inside the upper cabin to the coffee she had prepared.
There's a moment of peace, you might almost call it pure bliss. To spend the sunrise wrapped in your lover's arms, their warm breath leaving them in clouds of hot air, the boat gently rocking them as the morning tide rolled in.
âEverytime I wrap my arms around you, it feels like coming home all over again, to where I belong.â Ford whispers.
She turns to face him again and cups his face with both her hands, and kisses the tip of his nose. âWhen did you become so romantic?â
Ford leans into her touch. âI mean it.â He pauses for a second. âI donât think I ever told you, but when I first came back and saw you, my first thought was that I had died and gone to heaven. Being with you again is everything Iâve ever wanted and more.â
âIf you had died and gone to heaven then that would have meant Stan was in your heaven too.â She laughs.
âHeâs still her now.â He grabs her hand to hold it still so he can tilt his head and kiss her thumb.
She laughs even louder this time, then wraps her arms around his neck to draw him into another kiss. âI love being in your arms. I love being your home, because youâre mine too.â
The boat rocks them gently as the morning sun warms their bodies. Their hearts are full of love for one another. âLetâs stay like this forever, and just let the world drift away.â
Ford is about the respond before Stan interrupts.
âHey love birds! We gonna explore some anomalies today or what?â Stan barks from behind them.
Ford's eyebrows furrow and he goes to turn his head to snap at Stanley, but her hands catch his chin and turn his face back to her. She kisses him passionately three times and heâs breathless. She untangles herself from Ford and heads towards Stan.
âWhatâs on the agenda for today co-captain Stanley?â She smiles.
Ford is left standing there speechless and in a daze.
âAre you coming, co-captain Ford?â
Ford looks over at her. She squinting her eyes as the morning sun washes over her features, her cheeks pink from the cold. He has never been more in love with her.
âComing, associate co-captain.â
---------- By the time the sun was high in the sky he three of them had docked the boat and climbed halfway up the mountain. The town folks had told them about strange flying creatures that lived near the top of the mountain.
The sun beat down on them, and they soon found themselves needing to take off some of the many layers of winter clothes they had dressed in for the day. About an hour into the hike Stan speaks up.
âHey poindexter, how bout a break?â He huffs as he wipes sweat from his brow.
âWeâre very close to where the creatures were reported being seen.â Ford is warm, sweat gleams on his brow, but his attitude is chipper and heâs not as nearly out of breath.
âEven the kid needs a break.â Stan motions towards her.
She rolls her eyes at Stan still calling her a kid. Sheâs also out of breath, almost as bad as Stan. The high altitude is getting to her, but she wouldnât voice it.
Ford places a hand on her shoulder. âWhat do you think? Would you like to take a short rest.â
She smiles and nods. âLetâs take a short rest. We wouldnât want Stan passing out on us.â
Stan grunts but doesnât say anything. Glad to finally have a break from hiking. The three of them sit on the ground and drink their water. Ford is sitting as close as he can to her. She shivers as a cold breeze blows past them, feeling a little cold now that they have stopped moving. Ford wraps an arm around her shoulder, she looks up at him and smiles a wordless thank you.
After a few minutes they stand up and begin to get moving again. She groans as she stretches, and once they start moving again she is behind both the boys on the path.
âYou alight? Youâre normally faster than me.â Stan turns his head to talk to her while they move up the narrow mountain path.
âIâm fine, my legs are just a bit sore.â She tells him.
They continue their hike until they break through the tree line. They can see the horizon on the sea, and far below them is the small fishing village where they left the Stan Oâ War II docked.
Sheâs stunned by the beautiful view and almost doesnât realise Stan and Ford havenât stopped walking like she had. She scurries to catch up to them, until she sees a bush near her shake. Looking over she sees a small head of a rat pop out.
âAww.â She says softly to not scare the rodent away. âHey little fella.â She coos.
The rat scurried back into the bush at the sound of her voice, much to her disappointment. She turns to catch up to the boys, After a few steps she hears a strange sound. Somewhere between a squeak and a squawk. Turning around she sees the rat has raised itself out of the bush with a pair of wings. This must be the creature they had been looking for!
âFascinating!â She says to herself and pulls out her sketchbook and begins to jot down a quick doodle on the animal. The sun catches on her silvery pen and flashes a light up at the rat-like creature. It squawks loudly then dives towards her.
Further up the path Ford is mumbling to himself and Stan is tuning him out. Both of them freeze when they hear a shriek. They both stop dead in their tracks and whip around to see she is no longer behind either of them. The brothers share a second of a glance before booking it back down the trail.
It doesnât take them long to get back to her. When she comes into sight they can see she's using one arm to shield her face, the other is holding her notebook and waving it aimlessly behind her, trying to hit the creature thatâs attacking her hair.
Stan is the first to her, he pulls her to his chest with one arm and throws a left hook at the creature, sending it crashing into a tree. There's a moment of silence before Ford is pulling her into his arms. Stan makes his way over towards the tree.
âWhat happened? I thought you were right behind us?â Fordâs hands are on her face, tilting her head around and looking for any sign of injury. Her hands rest on his chest.
âFord, Iâm okay, promise. You were both further up the path when I noticed the creature. I thought if I called to you Iâd scare it off. So I tried to get a quick sketch, and I must have scared it because it started attacking my hair.â She canât help as a laugh escapes her.
âYou could have been hurt.â Fordâs voice is soft as he scoulds her.
âBut I wasnât.â She teases.
âPlease promise me you wonât go off on your own again? I donât know what Iâd do if you got hurt.â Ford told her seriously.
She stops smiling when she realises Ford is actually upset, not with her, but by the fact she could have been hurt. She takes his hands, which were still on her face, and holds them in hers. She leans up and gives him a soft, reassuring kiss.
âI promise.â She whispers.
âCheck this out!â Stan shouts and holds the unconscious ratbird in between them by its feet.
She shrieks with surprise and jumps away from Ford. âStanley thatâs disgusting!â
âWhat!? I thought you like rodents!â He laughs, shaking the bird closer towards her as she takes another step back.
âI wouldnât pick up a wild rat or bird with my hands, or let it that close to my face! Who knows where that thing has been!â She scolds him. âIf it wakes up and bites you Iâm not helping you.â
In the commotion Ford slipped on some protective gloves from his pack. âHold it still please Stanley.â Stan complies and Ford gently stretches its wings open and begins to list off observations about it that she quickly sketches down. âItâs wingspan is too small to carry it far. Thatâs probably why it is native only to this island.â He lists other things off like teeth size and tail length.
Stan gently set the animal down. âThink thatâs enough for today right?â
The other two agree and they begin their trek back down the mountain. She is in front of them now to set the pace, and so the boys canât lose sight of her. When the path begins to get wider, Ford falls back a bit to walk besides Stan.
âThank you for earlier.â Ford tells his brother.
Stan looks at him confused. âDidnât do nothing.â
âYou were able to get to her first and protect her from the rat bird.â Ford reminds him.
Stan waves it off. âDonât mention it.â Stan wouldnât admit to Ford how scared he was to see her get attacked like that, heâd rather not think about it.
When they make it back to the ship the sun is already touching the horizon. It was Fordâs night to cook and the other two went to rest in their beds. When the food was ready Ford headed below deck to find them both asleep. He wasnât surprised Stan had nodded off. Almost anytime he wasnât actively moving or engaged in an activity he would fall asleep. But his believed fiance would normally be reading a book or be annotating her notes.
He gently brushes some hair out of her face and she stirs. She smiles up at him and grabs his hand and brings it down to her lips to kiss his palm. His heart flutters at her sweet act.
âI fell asleep.â She murmurs, voice heavy with sleep.
âI noticed.â He leans down to kiss her. âAre you feeling alright?â
âI feel perfect now that youâre here.â She giggles and he frowns. She frowns too, but only to mock him. âI feel fine Stanford. I guess today was just too exciting is all.â
âWell, why donât we have dinner then we can go right back to bed?â He suggested.
âYouâre perfect. I love youâ She smiles up at him, eyes half lidded.
âI love you too.â
They stare into each other's eye, and neither of them notice the loud snoring has stopped. Thereâs a loud groan announcing Stan has awoken.
âIf you love him so much why donât you marry him?â Stan teases, she rolls her eyes.
The next morning Ford is the first to wake up. His love is tucked close to his side, buried under the blankets. He turns on his side to draw her impossibly closer. She makes a noise at the movement but doesn't awaken.
The bed feels a little warmer than normal. Maybe the day will be warmer than the forecast had predicted Ford thinks. Ford lays there for a while, enjoying the silence and warmth for a while until she begins to stir.
He feels her stretch under his grasp and she looks up at him eyes still droopy from sleep.
âGood morning my dear. Would you like to join me for some coffee?â Ford murmurs into her hair.
She shakes her head no. âItâs too cold.â She tries to burrow closer to Ford to get any extra warmth.
âIâll go turn the heater on upstairs, join me when youâre ready.â Ford moves the hair away from her forehead and kisses her there then freezes. He moves the back of his hand to her forehead, then his cheek to confirm his thought. âYouâre burning up!â
âNo, itâs cold.â She denies.
âYou must have a fever. Do you feel alright? When did you start feeling sick?â Ford doesnât bother keeping his voice down and clearly wakes up his brother.
Stan rolls his eyes at the commotion and makes his way to the upper deck.
Ford quickly stands. âIâm going to get dressed then go find a doctor in town. With a town this small there must be one to make house calls.â
âFord, please, thereâs no need for that.â She sniffs, still laying in the bed, pulling the covers closer around her.
âThere really isnât.â Stan grumbled, coming back down the stairs, a cup of water in one hand. The other was full of an assortment of pills. âTake these.â He gruffly shoved both the water and pills at her. She obeyed, sat up, and quickly tooked the unknown pills Stan had handed her. âGo back to sleep.â She layed down and closed her eyes, rolling over to face the wall away from the brothers.
âWhat did you give her?â Ford whispered, concerned.
Stan places a finger over his lips and motions towards the upper deck. They sit inside the cabin where Stan had turned on the space heater.
âShe of course came prepared and packed herself cold medicine.â Stan slides the first aid box across the table so Ford can examine the medicine boxes of everything he had given her. âAlmost every winter she gets a cold or two. Her legs start to hurt and she gets really tired. Should have seen it comingâ yesterday but was a little distracted by the birds. She must have noticed, but she never says anything. Thinks she can power through a fever.â Stan pauses a moment to laugh. âThere was one time I caught her working on the portal shivering and sweatingâ bucket. Practically had to drag her back to bed. The older weâve gotten through, the less stubborn sheâs gotten at admitting sheâs actually sick.â
It finally dawns on Ford just how much Stanley had taken care of her while he was gone. Sure, she had told Ford directly that he had, but he thought she was just putting in a good word for her friend. Ford knows it to be true now. He remembers once in college she went to class with a fever just to be sent back to her dorm. If Stan hadnât been here to make her rest when she was sick, she would have worked herself until she passed out or worse.
The cabin is silent for a moment.
âThank you, Stan.â
âDonât mention it.â
âNo, Stanley, listen.â Ford looks at his brother and there are visible tears in his eyes. âShe had told me before that you had taken care of her in my absence. I hadnât thought much about it, since she's always been so strong and independent. I know she's also stubborn. If you hadnât been there to make her rest⊠Thank you Stanley, truly, for taking care of her while I was gone.â Ford places his hand on his brotherâs shoulder and gives it a firm squeeze. Stan returns the action, not commenting on the noticeable tears.
âSheâd probably be happy to have you back downstairs to keep her warm.â Stan says, looking away from his brother. He doesn't want to see him cry, or he knows he will cry as well.
âI think youâre right.â Ford stands and goes to join her back in bed.
---------- Ford wasnât exactly excited to go to the carnival on the boardwalk, but her and Stan conveyed it would be fun.
âItâll be like the one back home! Remember when we tried to join the circus with our pet possum?â Stan laughed a deep belly laugh as they made their way past the ticket booth.
âYou never told me you had a pet possum.â She's walking next to Ford, his hand is held tight in hers.
âBut he told you about trying to join the circus?â Stan inquires.
âIâd argue he was more your pet than mine.â Ford argues.
They make their way around the attractions, eat some fair food, and play a few games. She has two stuffed animals they boys had won for her in her hands, and is filled with joy.
âYou there, miss, would you like to know your future?â A voice calls to her, and she turns to see a fortune teller beckoning her towards their tent. The fortune teller's eyes are glassy and they donât hold her gaze, they hold a long cane indicating they are blind. She feels an arm tighten around her shoulder.
âFortune tellers arenât to be trusted.â Ford tells her.
âItâs just for fun,â she comments. âThereâs no way they could actually know my future.â
âIâve traveled to different dimensions. I think almost anything is possible at this point.â Ford reminds her.
âI say we do it. Iâd like to know when I get filthy rich.â Stan begins walking into the tent.
She tried to follow in after him but the fortune teller held up their hand. âOnly one person inside the tent at a time please.â
So Ford and her wait outside the tent. Itâs only a few minutes later when Stan exits with a huff. âYouâre right, total scam, they don't know anything.â
The fortune teller exits the tent again and points over to her and Ford. âThe six fingered one next.â Then enters the tent.
A chill runs up her spine. The teller was clearly blind, but to call Ford out like that. She shares a surprised look with Ford, who surprisingly goes into the tent after them.
Stan is clearly still mad about whatever he had been told, so she takes his hand. âIâm sure whatever they said it wasnât true. Like you said, probably just a scam.â
Stan looks down at her warm smile and sighs. âYouâre right kid. Just a scam. I should know.â They both share a laugh.
Ford exits the tent looking lost in thought.
âYouâre next girly.â The teller holds open the flap for the tent and she makes her way in. The room looks bigger on the inside and there are two chairs on either side of a table with a fake looking crystal ball.
She sits and watches the fortune teller places their hands on the ball and thinks for a second before speaking. The ball lights up and smoke swirls around in it. âI would ask what youâd like to know about your future, but I already know what knowledge you seek. It weighs heavy on your heart. Knowing the truth might be even more of a burden. Would you still like to know?â
She thinks for a second. If the fortune teller was being honest and knew what she wanted to know, what she always thinks about, then she wants to know. âWill Ford and Stan die before me? I donât think I could lose Ford again, and well, Stan is my best friend.â
The teller nods their head and hums. âAs I suspected. Losing the ones you love is a heavy buren. Unfortunately you must bear the burden again, fortunately you only must bear it once.â
âWho?â Her voice quivers.
âAs I said, losing someone you love is difficult, as you know. He cannot see his brother lost again. He will go first. You will be needed to comfort the six fingered one. This universe isnât always fair, but it seems it will go easy on you, and you will not have to lose him again.â They remove their hand from the ball and the lights and smoke fade. âNow you know, you must live with this knowledge the rest of your life.â
She looks down at her hands and nods, then stands to exit the tent. She finds her boys standing exactly where she left them. Still looking lost in thought and a little angry. She pulls Ford into a hug and draws him from his thoughts.
âWhat did they tell you?â Ford asks, returning the hug.
She rests her chin on his chest to look up at him with a small smile. âThat Iâll get to spend the rest of my life with you, and thatâs all I want.â
âThey really tell you that?â Stan grunts, clearly not happy with what he was told.
âNo,â she confesses. âBut they didnât have to say that for me to know it, and-â She turns to look back at the tent and sees it's gone. She turns quickly to confirm what she sees if real. Then turns back to the twins, whose jaws are dropped.
The three share a look then agree to head back to the ship for the night.
Stan tosses and turns that night. He canât seem to sleep. What the fortune teller had told his replays in the back of his mind and heâs still pissed about it. He throws off the sheets and puts on his coats and boots and heads to the upper deck. To his surprise, he wasnât alone.
âWhy are you up so late kid?â Stan slumps down onto the bench by her.
âI imagine for the same reason you canât sleep.â She leans her head against her friend with her sigh.
There's a moment of silence between them. The only sound is the waves gently crashing on the nearby shore and the soft groan of the boat as it moves gently with the sea.
âWhat did they tell you?â They ask in unison. They both breath out a laugh.
âYou first.â She says.
He thinks for a moment. âThey told me Iâm going to die before you and Ford. Ford, I get, heâs healthy and in shape.â She elbows him. âNot implying you ainât! Itâs just, I didnât want to die before you is all. Iâve caused you enough suffering.â
She places her hand on his shoulder. âStanley, donât think like that. You havenât caused me any suffering. Youâre my best friend.â
He runs his hands down his face. âItâs my fault Ford got lost in the portal for thirty years, itâs my fault you didnât get to start a family with him like you had planned to. Itâs my fault you didnât get to get married yet. Itâs my fault that-â
âStanley!â She shouts sternly at him and he turns to face her, surprised by the authority in her voice. She takes his hand in hers. âStan you canât think like that. You know Iâve forgiven you a long time ago with what happened with Ford. The rest of it⊠It doesnât matter, because if it werenât for you I wouldnât have him back. If it werenât for you I wouldnât have met the most amazing great niece and nephew ever. If it werenât for you I wouldnât be sailing the seas right now with the two people I care the most about in the world, discovering amazing anomalies like Iâve always wanted to.â
Stanâs face is turned from hers but he gives her hand thatâs holding his a tight squeeze. There's another moment of silence. âWhat did they tell you?â His voice croaks, she wouldnât mention how he reached his free hand up to wipe his tears.
âThey told me about the same.â She confesses. âThat youâll die before me, but Iâll be here for Ford.â
Stan Turns back to look at her. âDo youâŠâ Stan doesnât really want to finish the thought. He doesnât want to think about their mortality.
âIâll go before Ford. They said it was the universe going easy on me.â She smiles up at Stan, but the smile doesn't reach her eyes.
He pulls her into a tight hug. âShould we tell Ford?â She sniffs as tears sting her eyes.
âNo. He wouldnât want to know.â
----------- âDo you hear that?â Stan asks.
Ford and her are both sitting at the table noses in a book in the upper cabin of the ship. She and Ford listen, share a glance with each other, then look back at Stan.
âNo,â they chime in unison.
Stan is driving the boat towards their next destination where there had been reports of strange ocean tides. He smacks his ear with the hearing aid.
âI must be picking up radio waves again.â He grumbles.
An hour later the two bookworms are asleep as Stan still mans the wheel, this time he hears the sound again. His head feels hazy and his body feels warm. He turns the boat towards the sound and begins to follow it.
Ford and her are jostled awake as the ship hits a large wave. Theyâre both lifted for a second from their seats before landing back down with a thump.
âStanley what the hell is happening?â Ford is the first to notice the situation. The weather around them is awful. Rain pounds onto the ship, the boat jumps as it passes over enormous waves, going faster than she's ever seen it go. Lighting and thunder crash outside. Stan should have seen the storm coming.
Speaking of Stan. Heâs standing at the wheel of the ship, eyes glued forwards, he doesnât even notice Ford yelling at him. Ford pushes Stan out of the way and he falls to the floor. Suddenly Stan sits up and looks around.
âWhere the hell are we?â He asks, hand held to his head.
âWe should be asking you that, seeing as you were the one driving the last two hours!â She barks before reaching under the chairs for their life vests. She tosses the boys theirs and secures her own, they quickly buckle theirs as well.
âI donât, I donât know what happened.â Stan looks lost for a second. âI canât remember.â
Her heart hurts for her friend. She knows that must be scary for him but now isnât the time for comfort. Ford begins to bark orders, she helps Stan to his feet.
They begin securing lines and sails, making sure all objects are secured down so they wonât cause the three of them harm.
Suddenly she hears a noise and freezes. Her head feels hazy and her body feels warm. It seems as if her body is moving on itâs own as she begins to walk towards the door and exits the cabin. A strong hand grabs her arm.
âWhat are you doing?â Ford screams over the rain. Stan had taken the wheel again.
Her eyes are glazed over and she tries to continue walking towards the railing. Ford begins to drag her back inside but she resits. She freezes and he stops trying to pull her. She turns and points.
âThere.â
Ford turns to see what sheâs pointing at, and itâs the largest wave heâs seen in his whole life. He quickly wraps his body around her and tries to make it back into the cabin before the wave hits, but heâs not quick enough. The water envelops their bodies and they are thrown against the railing. The ship pops back up over the waves again and Ford looks into her eyes.
She's over the railing, dangling off the ship, her only tether is Fordâs hand.
âDonât let go! Iâve got you!â He shouts desperately holding onto her and the ship.
Her body is like a rag doll as itâs slammed into the ship with the waves. She looks back up at Ford, eyes still glazed, and lets go of his hand, falling into the inky water below.
The second her body pops back up from water her head clears. Her life jacket inflated when she hit the water. The last thing she remembers was she was on the ship with the boys. A wave overtook her and she pushed back under the water. When she comes back up she realises she hears Ford screaming.
Itâs dark and all Ford can see is the automatic light on her life vest getting further and further from them. Heâs screaming for her, and for Stan to move the boat in her direction.
She tries to scream for him but is pushed under water again. When her head resurfaces she struggles for a breath before the same thing happens again. Coming back up this time she sees the ship be covered by a wave, then herself. This time when she comes back up she sees the light of the ship are gone. She feels something grab her foot, and is dragged under the water.
Ford feels warmth all around him. His eyes fluttered open and he squints as rays of sun blind his eyes. Waves softly lap and his boots and he quickly sit up as the events that just unfolded flood his mind. He looks around quickly hoping to see his love, or his brother.
Stan isnât far from him and Ford hops to his feet to run from him. He falls to his knees and sees heâs breathing, Ford begins to shake his brother. âStanley! Are you alright?â
Stanâs hand comes up to swat his brother away. âFive more minutes.â He mumbles.
Ford doesn't hesitate to slap him across the cheek.
Stan is quick to sit up. âWhat the hell was that for?â
âDo you not remember what just happened?â Ford barks.
Stanâs eyes grow wide in horror. âShe went overboard⊠Didnât she?â
Ford slumps forward and his hands cover his face. âI had her, she was in my hands and she⊠She let go.â
âShe let go?â Stan echos in confusion.
âShe had the same look in her eyes that you did when we found you steering the ship into the storm.â Ford breathing is quick and ragged, the panic of whatâs happened starts to over take him. âI⊠Oh god, I-,â
âShut your yap,â Stan commands. âYou hear that?â
At first all Ford can hear is the gentle crashing of the waves onto the shore, then he hears it. The distant call of a voice. A very familiar feminine voice.
Fordâs eyes frantically scan the beach both ways looking for the source when he sees her. She must have spotted him at the same time because she begins to sprint towards him. Ford is quick to his feet and meets her halfway. Ford pulls her into a crushingly tight hug as tears fill both of their eyes.
âI thought I had lost you.â He cries into her hair. âI donât know what I would do if I had.â
âIâm okay. Iâm okay.â She sobs. âWeâre safe now.â She whimpers against his chest.â
They stay there in each otherâs embrace, until Stan slowly walks over to them.
âGlad youâre alright kid.â Stan smiles.
She grabs Stan and pulls him into the hug. He grumbles something but hugs both of them. After a moment they pull back. Fordâs hands are still clutching the back of her wet, sandy shirt. Ford and her look at each other and share a breathy laugh, and begin to wipe the tears away from their eyes.
âNow that weâve had that lovely reunion, where are we and whereâs the ship?â Stan frowns.
âDestroyed, I'd imagine.â Ford clears his throat.
âActuallyâŠâ She takes Fordâs hand and begins to lead them down the beach the way she had come. âWhen I had gone overboard, my mind cleared when I hit the water. I saw the ship get taken over by a wave and thought the worst. Something grabbed my foot and dragged me under, butâŠâ
They round the corner on the beach and see Stan Oâ War II, unharmed, anchored off shore. Ford and Stan both notice some splashing around the ship that wasnât like normal waves. The brothers share a look.
âHow is it not damaged?â Ford is in awe of the vessel's perfect condition.
âTurns out, weâve had a guardian angel this whole trip we didnât know about.â She smiles.
âWho?â Stan asks.
âMable.â She laughs as theirs another splash in the water, this time closer to the shore.
The brothers both see the end of a tail then a few seconds later, a head pops up.
âFord, you might remember what Mable had written in the journal about meeting her friend, Mermando. Turns out she still writes to him and told him about our trip and asked him and his people to look out for us.â She waves over at the head that had popped up signaling to him it was safe.
âItâs the least I can do to repay my friend. If it wasnât for her then I might still be trapped in Gravity Falls.â Mermando smiles. He had swum over to them as far as he could without leaving the water.
âA real mermaid, huh?â Stan grunts.
âFascinating.â Ford muses.
âHe and a few others were able to pull us to safety after we were lured into the storm.â She tells them.
âLured?â Ford repeats.
âYes, unfortunately two of you had been affected by a sirenâs song. Theyâre like merpeople, only they crave violence.â Mermando shakes his head.
âWe really canât thank you enough.â She sighs, giving Fordâs hand a squeeze. âAnd please, donât mention this to Mable. I wouldn't want her to worry.â
âShe will hear nothing of it. You have my word. Farwell Pines!â And with that, Mermando splashes under the water and is gone.
âDarn it, I should have asked him some questions while I had him here.â Ford brings a hand to his mouth in thought.
She playfully shoves him. âI say we should be happy that weâre alive.â
âYou know what I say?â Stan asks and begins stripping his clothes. âI say we have a beach day! Been forever since we were in a warmer climate like this!â He splashes into the water in just his underwear, leaving the other two behind.
âWhat do you say, my love?â Ford pulls her to his chest.
She wraps her arms around his neck. âHaving a nice calm day after almost drowning to death? I think we deserve it.â She plants a soft kiss to his lips before pulling away and begins striping down to her underwear. âRace you to the water.â
Ford doesnât have to be asked twice before he follows suit removing his clothes.
After hours of relaxing on the beach and playing in the water like children, the sun had begun to set. Stan had made his way back to the boat leaving only her and Ford on the beach.
Ford is laying on his back, her head rests against his shoulder. His arms are tightly wrapped around her. Her fingers absentmindedly trace the knit pattern on his sweater.
âI canât believe out of anywhere I could be in the world right now, Iâm here with you.â She whispers.
He hums and she can feel his chest vibrate under her cheek. She turns her head to look at him. His eyes are closed but there's a smile on his face.
âAre you asleep?â She giggles.
He hummed a sound to tell her no.
She breathes out a laugh and sits up. âLetâs head back before the sun sets all the way.â
He opens his eyes half lidded and smiles at her. She takes his hand and helps him sit up. His hands move to her face to draw her in for a kiss. âI love you.â
âI love you too.â
---------- âAlright, there. I think that will work.â She places the tablet down on the table she and her boys are sat at.
âAre you sure you set it up right?â Ford asks.
She rolls her eyes. âI helped build an interdimensional portal. I think I can figure it out.â
âI just wanted to make sure. You remember what happened when you tried to set up our vhs to record Saturday Night Dead.â Ford reminds her.
âThat was one time! Itâs not my fault the vhs caught fire!â She huffs.
âCan you two stop arguing like an old married for a couple?â Stan groans.
Ford and her share a look and smile. Their attention is pulled away from each other when the tablet begins to make noise.
âOh, itâs ringing!â She leans forward and presses the green answer button. âHello? Kids, can you hear us?â
She's greeted with the sound of laughter. âYouâre too close to the camera. Move back a little.â She moves back and the screen reveals Dipper and Mable.
âI told you I set it up just fine!â She pats Fordâs chest.
âKids! Itâs good to see you!â Stan greets.
âYou guys look so cute in all your boat gear!â Mable squeals.
âYeah you guys look really cool!â Dipper confirms.
âHow has school been going!â Ford asks.
âGreat! I got accepted into some senior level classes for next semester.â Dipper cheers.
Mable pushes dipper aside to hog the camera. âAnd I got a boyfriend!â
Dipper shoves Mabel back to get back in frame. âYeah, and heâs actually not awful and kinda normal?â
âCongratulations to you both.â She smiles and leans her head against Fordâs shoulder.
They continue to talk and catch up for almost an hour.
âSo we can come back to Gravity Falls next summer for sure?â Dipper inquires.
âAbsolutely! I've been in contact with Fiddleford and he said we are more than welcome to stay with him in the old Northwest manor.â Ford confirms.
âSoos also said youâre welcome to sleep over at the shack whenever you want.â Stan chimes in.
âI canât wait to see you two again! Youâre really the best great niece and nephew ever.â She comments.
âYouâre the best graunt ever!â Dipper and Mabel speak in unison, then begin to giggle and shove each other.
âSee you two in a few months!â With that they end the call.
âA month and four weeks, four days, and six hours.â Ford says precisely.
âBut who's counting?â She teases.
âAnd only a month, fours weeks, two days, and four hours until you become my wife.â Ford pulls her close, Stan rolls his eyes and leaves the upper cabin.
âNow that I am counting down to.â She plants a kiss to his cheek. âMrs.Pines, I love how that sounds.â
âWell then, Mrs. Pines?â He kisses her forehead, then her cheek, then her lips. âWill you do the honor of being mine?â
âI already agreed to marry you, thatâs why weâre getting married.â She laughs.
âI know, but I love hearing you say it. I still canât believe you agreed to marry me.â He jokes. âWill you say it? Say youâll be mine? Forever and always?â
Her finger came up to trace his jawline and lead his lips to hers. âForever and always.â

Hufflepuff!Muggleborn Extensive Dating A Malfoy Headcanons:
Okay so this got very long very fast but I apologize for nothing.
So youâre pretty much terrified of getting your Hogwarts letter because you have no idea what magic is but now youâre a wizard???
You go anyway and see a blond little boy at Diagon Alley with his parents and his mother has the same list as your dad does
So maybe you follow the little boy around and pick out the things he does because he seems to know what heâs doing
Then you heard his father hiss âdisgusting mud bloodâ your way and your face kinda falls because you thought maybe you found someone who could help and weâll never mind
Your dad takes your hand and snaps at Lucius âwhat kind of example is that for your son? No, Iâm not one of your lot but you shouldnât take it out on my daughter!â
Draco peeks out from behind his fathers robes and looks at the tears in your eyes and maybe he does feel a little bad
You absolutely adore your wand
At the station a few older years can tell youâre new and very Muggle in your tshirt jeans and converse that they sort of adopt you one of them being Cedric
Youâre not so scared anymore because it seems like maybe these people arenât so bad
Some kid named Fred buys you a Chocolate Frog and his twin warns you about their sentience
You meet a few other first years and Hermione Granger whos also a muggle and you sort of lament about all of it. Sheâs super excited because thereâs so much to learn and you start to adopt her perspective
You see the boy from Diagon Alley sneering and bullying other kids and you go up to him with the same fire in your eyes that you dad had and tell the boy off a-al-Muggle
He just laughs and scoffs but you donât back down which scares him because everyone always backs down
Big brother Cedric comes over and tells Malfoy off for calling you a mudblood again and ushered you back to a compartment of other Hufflepuffs and someone explains to you the house system
âWell thatâs kinda stupid,â you decide âwhy should we be separated based on what a magical hat thinks we might be?â
Cedric grins at you because you remind him of himself and stands clapping when youâre sorted into Hufflepuff
Momma Sprout helps you so much because she knows that her muggle born kiddos need the extra comfort and encouragement
You have Herbology with the Slytherins and that meant Draco Malfoy his name was rattling around your head since the Sorting Ceremony
You end up partners with him. Youâre shy and quiet and heâs dismissive and snappy.
âDraco you shouldnâtââ âDonât tell me what to do! Filthy little mudblood.â You sit back and watch the Doxy bite him âwell get help!â He demands âI thought you didnât want a mudbloodas help,â you snap. He gives you a hopeless look and you administer the antidote and produce a Bandaid âstupid muggle bandageâ
While heâs sulking you handle the Doxy properly and show him how itâs done without being snotty about it. Maybe you smirk at him when you catch him leaning in and watching closely
Itâs not friendship but he doesnât call you mudblood anymore so... thereâs that
Cedric nearly has a heart attack when he asks about your first day and you tell him about Draco
You find your footing at Hogwarts and though youâre not the best in class you can still do magic and itâs SO FRICKIN COOL MOM I MADE A FEATHER FLOAT TODAY
You chat with Draco thoughout the year in class well you talk to him he doesnât say much. âAnd my mom was so proud when I told her about the Goblin wars and my dad wants to see me leviosa a feather but I told him I canât do magic outside of school...â
Then thereâs a quiet âyour parents are proud of you? And interested in all this stuff?â
You look at him, mystified and â...yes? Theyâre proud of whatever I do,â Draco looks down and continues to sketch the bowtruckle which is almost life like on how accurate it is
You write to your parents immediately asking them to send a letter to Draco and tell them all about his really good drawings in Herbology
It takes a few days but one morning Draco comes up to you in the Great Hall with a parcel
âI think this is yours, your stupid owl gave it to meâ he sulks. âIt has your name on it,â you point out. âBut why would your parents...?â You shrug and go back to talking to your friends and reading your own letter from your mother. Draco huffs and mutters something under his breath and walks away
In Herbology he has a new set of very Muggle graphite pencils and a proper sketchbook and heâs just sketching the Mandrakes on the desk when you come in. He doesnât say anything and neither do you. Heâs less irritable now
Itâs second year and you hug your parents and go say hi to your friends before finding a compartment for the long journey. You swap muggle candy for magic candy with your friends
Draco passes your compartment and you wave. He gives a half smile and keeps walking.
âYou like him!â Your friends exclaim. âWhat? No! I donât!â You turn very red. âHeâs just a friend!!â No one is convinced
This year you have potions with Draco and youâre freaking out inside because you donât know what youâre doing and Snape seems to have it out for you and youâre just a mess.
Draco volunteers to be your partner âto show this mudblood a little decorum and how things are properly done.â He scoffs
You look down, embarrassed but as soon as Draco is next to you, you hear a quiet apology.
You understand the charade he has to put on but you wished he didnât and you really wish heâd stop calling you mudblood it was rather annoying
He helps you through potions like you helped him through Herbology. This year you have Herbology with the Ravenclaws and he has it with the Gryffindors. He totally whines to you all the time about Harry
Once heâs complaining and accidentally puts in the wrong ingredient and the entire thing threatens to explode. Before you know it, youâre on the ground under Draco who pulled you and the remnants of the potion is shielded from you because Dracos robes are draped over you
Snape scolds you for being stupid and you start to protest but Draco confesses that it was him mistake, not yours. Snape just eyes the pair of you and walks off.
âThank you,â you stammer out. He rolls his eyes but thereâs a soft smile on his face.
Boy does Draco flip out when he hears about the Chamber of Secrets because youâre in potential danger and he would willingly sacrifice Granger to keep you safe
He mentions that to you in Potions one day and you gap at him. âDraco killing anyone for any reason isnât right.â You scold. Thereâs a cold look in his eyes and a fire in yours. âBut... thank you... for worrying about me,â
Your friends still pester you because they can obviously see you like Draco and maybe you do... but you know he doesnât like you so youâll just ignore your feelings
Third year comes and your heart skips a beat when you see Draco because he grew a lot over the summer and his hair is no longer ridiculously slicked back and oh Merlin youâre in trouble
Unbeknownst to you Dracos heart flutters when he sees you and has to fight the urge to wave or say hi to you in front of his father.
This year you have History of Magic together
He sits down next to you without a second thought. You smile and say hi and ask about his summer and then he returns the question. Your muggle summer and his magic summer are both a bit lost on the other
âDidnât you wear glasses?â He asks one day. âOh, my mom let me get contacts,â âcontacts?â âUm... like plasticy little doodads that go in my eyes and help me see?â He just stares and you laugh. âToo Muggle?â You ask. âToo Muggle,â he replies.
Now itâs a sort of game. Youll come in with something MuggleâPens, notebooks, lined paper, Muggle books, a watchâand Draco decides whether itâs âtoo Muggleâ or not for him. He quite likes pens and lined paper but you can keep your Muggle books
You tell your parents again and Draco gets a package filled with green notebooks and black pens and a pencil pouch with a snake on it.
You hear about the Buckbeak incident and you rush off to find Draco. Heâs in the infirmary snapping at Pomfrey but softens when he sees you
âSheâs just trying to help,â you scold softly. âAre you alright?â âDoesnât hurts much anymore but itâs numb so...â
Pomfrey wants to keep him a few hours to make sure that his body is reacting to the medicine correctly and you stay with him.
âYou know Iâve been thinking,â you start. âThatâs scary,â he mutters. You hit him playfully and notice that he flinches so hard you note it and continue âIâve been thinking that it really doesnât make sense for you to call me a mudblood,â âand why not?â He snaps. âWell, I mean... Iâm technically all muggle. If anyone was really a mudblood wouldnât it be halfbloods? With a muggle and wizard parent?â
He doesnât have an answer to that. So he sulks quietly. âWhy doesnât it bother you that I call you that?â He asks quietly. You shrug. âSometimes I wonder if I really belong here. Your adamant hatred for me is comforting. Like Iâm doing something right enough to make you upset about it.â
He doesnât know what to say to that either. He didnât know that you were insecure about being a wizard. Of course, you belonged here you were wonderful with magic and your hexes were remarkable.
âI donât hate you,â he mumbled. âSure youâre annoying with your cheery disposition and your... Converse trainers... but I donât hate you.â You laugh and he thinks itâs a wonderful sound
âWell, I donât hate you either,â you smile back. You donât think itâs something but itâs definitely not nothing
You hear about what happens between he and Hermione and youâre furious because heâs better than that and you canât believe he would still call her a mudblood
You refuse to talk to him for a few days. Which is hard because he tries to make small talk with you.
One day in class he slips you a folded piece of parchment and you open it. Begrudgingly. âIm sorry, I was an arse. I shouldnât have called her that.â You take your pen and scribble quickly âyouâre apologizing to the wrong person.â And slide it back to him
Draco did apologize to Hermione before he apologized to you and heâs frustrated because he thinks youâll think heâs lying if he said he already did
Then Hermione finds you in the hall that day and asks if you put Draco up to apologizing to her and you admit yes you did. And she tells you that he apologized a few days ago. Your heart soars and you hug a confused Hermione before running off to find Draco
Heâs in the corner of the library, not reading, but drawing. You accidentally sneak up behind him and see that youâre the sketch on his paper.
âI donât think my hair is quite that long,â you whisper softly and the boy about jumps out of his skin. You apologize quickly and he quickly covers his sketch book, red faced.
âI um. That wasnât you.â He stammers turning a darker shade of red. You laugh. âYes it was!â You reach for his sketchbook but he hugs it to his chest. âOh come on Draco? What am I gonna do? Laugh?â âYouâre laughing right now.â He points out. âAnd itâs not that good anyway...â
You roll your eyes and sit next to him. You offer to pose for him so that he could take his time to draw you. âWell Iâm not busy now,â you grin and he sulks a moment before nodding.
You watch his hands work and sift through the pencils as he props the paper up on his knees and instructs you to look somewhere and not to move.
Itâs odd, being drawn. You close your eyes and hum softly knowing he was studying you the way he might a bowtruckle or mandrake and it feels weird. A good weird.
He refuses to let you see the drawing even though you persist. You pout and drop the matter, just glad to have a friend in him.
You begin meeting in the library on a weekly basis, partly so he can draw you partly because youâre both struggling in History of Magic and need more study time
Cedric is not happy about any of this and goes very âprotective big brotherâ on you. You tell him off and huff.
You start going to his quidditch matches and maybe he almost runs into a goal post because you smiled and waved at him and he forgot to pay attention
The summer comes and you wave goodbye knowing as soon as heâs around your father youâre going to lose your fried.
But he surprises you and hands you his sketchbook on the train home then quickly runs away to his father and you just stare at it and him and heâs gone, all you see is two heads of silver blond hair receding in the distance
Your parents usher you into the car and itâs maybe two hours before you get to look at the sketchbook
When you do open it you see a sketch of a bowtruckle and âSteveâ written one his careful script underneath. You had forgotten that you named the bowtruckle Steve that day in class
The next few sketches are from Herbology. And little notes about class that day, a lot of them are about you. Then thereâs a break in Herbology drawings and thereâs a drawing of his mother almost perfectly. Then of a family portrait of the three of them. A few vases of flowers. Then you see your face. And again. And again. Itâs you. Smiling, laughing, concentrating on a book, raising an eyebrow at him, gnawing in your lip, asleep in class, then the library drawings that are much more detailed.
Then youâre crying and you want to call him and thank him but you CANT BECAUSE HE DOESNT HAVE A PHONE STUPID WIZARD FAMILY
But you do have an owl. You have no idea what to write. So you go with âthank youâ and then send it.
You get a letter a few months later and itâs from Draco. Heâs asking if you want to go to the Quidditch World Cup with him. âI know youâre Muggle and donât like Quidditch much but...â
So youâre going with Draco and itâs weird because heâs on your doorstep with his mother and it is just a clash of worlds. You stammer goodbyes to your parents and youâre quickly ushered into the limo of a car next to Draco. You notice heâs changed his hair again and he looks quite dashing in his blazer. You get a little self conscious about your jeans and sweater.
Narcissa is a doll. She asks you about your summer and time as Hogwarts and keeps polite conversation and you thaw a little.
Though you have no idea whatâs going on Draco is very excited about the game and is cheering and you canât help but smile and maybe you take pictures with a Polaroid camera and he just rolls his eyes and you get a picture of him rolling his eyes
Fourth year comes and he is ushered away from you by his friends before he can say hi.
The kids from the other schools show up and youâre convinced that he like Fleur and he thinks you like Cedric and itâs just a mess
Heâs back to being irritable and youâre slipping into depression not just because of him but everything is really weighing on you
Youâre alone in the Astronomy Tower, your feet dangling off the edge. You had no intention to jump, but it was sort of thrilling.Â
Draco flips the fluff out and nearly drags you from the edge.Â
âWhat the hell are you thinking!?â He exclaims. You gape at him because itâs probably the first thing he said to you in a week. Heâs just so scared that he was actually going to lose you that he pulls you close and doesnât let you go. You start crying and everything just comes out in a word dump. Your brother is getting worse and stronger and itâs not good for you and he keeps putting you down and calling you a freak and that âno one is going to love me because Iâm a freak and mom and dad think Iâm fine because my grades are still fine but Draco I canât... Iâm slipping and... and I feel like I lost you and you were the only one who really believed in me and...â Youâre just sobbing.
And he listens. He holds you and listens.Â
âYou havenât lost me,â He whispers softly. âBut you like Fleur... and I canât ever be her... sheâs just so perfect and powerful and...â You sniffle, hugging your knees looking at your beat up Converse.Â
âSheâs my cousin,â He almost laughs but doesnât because of the look on your face. âAnd what about you and Cedric?â He raises an eyebrow and you blanch. âHeâs like a big brother to me, gross,â You shove his arm and youâre both laughing.Â
âThereâs only one Hufflepuff out there for me,â He takes your hand and hello butterflies and blushing. âAnd thereâs only one Slytherin for me,â You lay your head on his shoulder and watch the stars.Â
You two start dating and Merlin his friends are livid because how dare he date a muggle hufflepuff? But then they watch him with you and itâs hard to deny that Draco is truly happy for once and they donât want to take that from him
Your friends exchange bet money.Â
Weekends filled with more games of âToo Muggleâ and trips to Hogsmeade and Draco explaining wizard culture and you try to explain muggle culture but he just does not understand washing machines. You introduce him to muggle music and is thrilled that he loves ABBA.Â
He makes everything hurt less. And itâs nice to feel wanted.Â
Then Voldemort returns and everything changes and you werenât ready for it. Draco gets cold and distant again and you try and try to get through to him but he doesnât let you in.Â
You end up screaming at him one night and walk out. He finds you curled up outside the Slytherin portrait, weeping not minutes later and carries you back inside to his dorm and apologizes and hold you and admits that heâs scared and he doesnât want to lose you or see you get hurt
You both make an effort to find the sunshine in the proverbial dark times that linger through the next year. It means you become a but more calloused and jaded and he becomes a bit more optimistic and grateful.Â
Pansy Parkinson doesnât exist. Itâs just you with Polyjuice potion to keep you safe from Dracoâs aunt and Voldemort. Itâs an easy charade to keep up. There are still quite nights when youâre yourself with Draco and he reminds you how much he adores the real you with his words and touch
If thereâs one thing you donât do, is break a Hufflepuff and thatâs what Harry did after his sectumsempra and holy hell do you lose your cool.
Dracoâs mother has to step in before youâre expelled for what you did to Harry
You nurse Draco back to health afterwards and never let Harry forget what he did, nor do you let anyone else forget it when they call him the chosen one
And Merlin does Draco love you for it
Draco canât kill Dumbledore because your words are still in his head from second year âItâs not right to kill someone for any reasonâ and he just canât disappoint you like that
Youâre still kind. Youâre kind to Luna when sheâs locked up at the Malfoy Manor. Youâre kind to the house-elves that attend to you. Youâre kind, and value fairness and hardwork, but you will not put up with bullshit any longer.Â
You and Draco stand with Hogwarts when the battle boils down to it. You give Draco your wand when he loses his to Harry.
When you go back eighth year, you advocate for the removal of the House System and write a very convincing argument against it. It takes about ten years, but the system is disbanded after one too many close calls and ruined lives
You also start a Support Group at Hogwarts for those suffering from mental illnesses and for those who have suffered abuse at home.Â
You and Draco get married at the Manor. You wear your Converse.Â

Just Say It And Iâm Yours-Ch.1
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader
Warnings: Language, stalking ish themes
Words: 1490
Summary: Steve is considering retiring from being Captain America. He doesnât remember why he took the shield or what it means for him anymore. Then he met you.Â
A/N: First and foremost I am SO SORRY FOR BEING SO SHIT AT SUMMARIES. I just donât want to give anything away. Second, this is my first series! So like, comment, reblog, let me know you want to see more of this. This story is going to start in Steveâs perspective and switch to the readers. Iâll let you guys know when the POV is shifting so no worries. So, this first chapter is told through Steve. Third, if I missed any warnings please let me know. Last but most CERTAINTLY not least, a very VERY special thanks to @river-soulâ for reading through this and assuring me it was a good first chapter. I am so grateful for you. Let me know what you think! (Gif by @navybrat817 )
âSteve, she's getting married tomorrow,â Bucky solemnly states as he puts a hand on Steveâs shoulder. âIf youâre going to do something you better do it soon.âÂ
âI know Buck, but what could I say to her? I havenât been able to tell her how I feel about her for years.â Steve looked out over the lake, his eyes pricking with tears. âShe made her decision.âÂ
âYouâre an idiot. Youâve been in love with her since you first saw her. If you donât tell her, sheâs going to make the biggest mistake of her life. We both know that,â Bucky sighed, raking a hand over his face. âI know she loves you. You need to talk to her. She canât marry him Steve, you know the second she does sheâll be gone forever. The person you knew reduced to, whatever this shell of a person is.â
Steve rubbed the back of his neck and looked down where the water was gently lapping against the shore. After a few moments, he heard Bucky make his way back to the lodge. As the small waves ebbed and flowed against the shallow shore Steve thought about you and how he was an absolute coward back when you were a big part of his life.Â
One and a half years ago
Steve was sketching at Marine Park in Brooklyn during golden hour when everything seemed to glow. He needed a break from his Captain America responsibilities and every time he put his charcoal to the paper everything seemed to melt away. The world was vastly different since he came out of the ice and he felt his heart swell thinking about all the fights he had to endure in order to restore some semblance of peace in the universe. He was happy that he had his best friend back, cleared of the mind control Hydra put in him and he made so many new friends and a family in The Avengers. Yet, as he drew out the skyline on the thick white paper, he couldnât help but feel like he was still missing something. He knew he needed a break from his duties to figure it out constantly being pulled into a fight was a great distraction, but he knew he needed to figure out what brought meaning to his life. The decision to take time off gnawed at Steve like a dog to a bone, who was he if he wasnât Captain America?
Steve heard you before he saw you, picking up the fierce tone you were using made him glad he wasnât on the receiving end of your reprimand. Steve looked up to see you wedged in between a woman and her dog and a man probably twice your size towering over you, trying to be intimidating. The fact you stepped forward refusing to back down made Steve smile, oddly fond of your bravery. The commotion you were making drew a small crowd and Steve felt a strange pull to join the group to be close to you.Â
âWho the fuck do you think you are? Following this poor woman around like a stalker,â You yelled, poking your finger in his chest. âDid you think she was being coy when she told you to stop following her? Was that some deranged invitation to keep on top of her the rest of the world is unaware of?â
Steve could tell that you were not about to back down as you protected the other woman. The fire in your eyes was something Steve was familiar with in himself before he went into the ice. He noticed the man ball his hands into fists and before you could react he had pulled back to hit you. Steve jumped in and caught the punch, inches from your face.
âYouâre gonna want to walk away pal before you make things worse for yourself.âÂ
Steveâs voice was low in warning. When he glanced over at you, you looked up at him almost offended that he had stepped in. Before Steve could say anything you returned your gaze to the other man and swiftly kneed him in the balls.Â
âStop following women you fucking asshole,â you admonished as the man crumpled to the ground in pain. âI know you probably have a hard time listening to women when they say no because there is just a bunch of empty space where your brain is supposed to be, but maybe take this as a warning.âÂ
Steve watched you slack jawed as you flagged down a police officer to give a statement to. He observed you as you spoke with the other woman, who was visibly shaken by the incident, with such genuine concern and kindness. He couldnât stop looking at you as you soothed her with gentle touches and quiet whispers. Steve waited for his turn to speak with the officers regarding the incident, after which the man was taken into custody. When Steve turned around you were walking towards him.Â
âUmm thanks for catching the punch,â you said with a shrug. âI could have taken him though.âÂ
Steve let out a soft chuckle.Â
âWell I wouldnât be much of a superhero if I stood around and let a civilian get clocked for defending someone.â
You cocked your eyebrow at him and crossed your arms.Â
âYeah but youâre not in the suit, which means youâre off duty. Either way Iâm grateful, I have a job interview tomorrow and canât really show up with a black eye. It wouldnât really say âhire me Iâm even tempered and have a keen ability to moderate conflict in a calm respectful manner.â â
Steve smiled, letting out a sigh as he cast his eyes to the ground.
 âOh sweetheart Iâm always on duty, comes with the territory.âÂ
He looked up to see you watching him with kindness and understanding.
âIâm sure that must be a very heavy burden to carry,â You sighed. âI hope you can take a vacation or something soon. It looks like you might need one.â
To say Steve was enamored by you would be the understatement of the century. In the brief time he had spent with you, he had noticed that you were fierce, kind, honest, compassionate, and absolutely stunning. He found himself physically having to shake his head to keep from staring at you.
âIâm Steve,â he blurted out. âI feel like you already know that though. It was really nice of you to say that. Sometimes I only see myself as Captain America, no vacation days in sight.âÂ
Steve chuckled as you rolled your eyes at him.
âY/N, and I mean it. You shouldnât feel like youâre always on duty.â Â
You pointed your finger at his chest.
âBesides, Iâm a tough girl, I can handle myself. You should trust people a bit more Rogers.âÂ
You gave Steve a cheeky grin and started walking away.
Steve scrambled to follow you, not ready to have your conversation end.
âSo, job interview? What do you do?âÂ
Steve easily kept your stride. When you chuckled Steve swore his heart skipped a beat.
âWould you believe Iâm a victim advocate? I have an interview with the state prosecutor. I make sure anyone who has experienced trauma of any sort is represented and protected during court cases and criminal trials,â you stated proudly.Â
âAfter what I just witnessed, I would have been more surprised if you told me you were an accountant.â Steve joked. âWould it be okay if I walked you wherever youâre going? I know you can handle yourself but Iâd like to make sure you donât leave a trail of broken men in your wake.â
You snorted out laughter.Â
âYeah wouldnât want to get put away for attacking more skeezy men. That sounds great Captain, thank you.â
Steve smiled and kept asking you questions on your walk. He had this need to know everything he could about you since you blew into his life like a sunshower. When Steve got you back to your apartment the sun was just setting.
âWell Rogers, itâs been an interesting day,â you say, nonchalantly fiddling with your keys.
âIâll say, I didnât think my day would consist of watching someone stand up for another woman who almost got punched, then kneeing the guy in the balls.âÂ
Steve smiled.
âI am pleasantly surprised with the way my day turned out,â he told you.
âWell thereâs a lot more where that came from if you stick with me Cap.âÂ
You smirked at Steve grabbing his sketchbook.Â
âHereâs my number, if you ever need a little extra adventure in your life, call me,â you said.Â
With that you turned the key in the lock and pushed yourself inside the apartment. Steve was left to stand staring at your closed door. He didnât know what force drove you into his life but knowing you for those few hours made him feel more alive than he had in years.

Lavender dreams (Anthony Bridgerton x OC)-Part 1/3
Word count: 3.1k
Anthony stormed into his office after breakfast with his mother following close. The proper introductions were made when Miss Grace, or Gigi as she preferred to be called, entered the dining room; he had ignored the little somersault that attacked his heart when he made eye contact with the young girl and instead of acknowledging the feeling chose to finish eating as soon as humanly possible and left the table in a haste.
âHow could you not notify me of this visit mother? The responsibility of finding her a suitable match falls on me and I know nothing about this girl, do you?â he tried to keep his voice down, but the exasperation he felt still showed in the form of harsh whispers.
âI didnât tell you because I know she wonât have a problem finding a suitor that would be interested in herâ Violet sat down tiredly looking at her exasperated son.
âAnd how are you so sure of that?â
âWell, she is an only daughter to a wealthy man, she is a well-read young woman and an amazing piano player, not to mention her dowry is obviously substantialâ she gave him a pointed âI told you soâ glare âand of course, she is beautifulâ
âEven worst then, weâll have to make sure that whoever marries her-â
âWe wonât do anything but Iâll make sure she loves the man she chooses to marry and he does her, that was Roseâs wish and thatâs what Iâll doâ she stood up not wanting to hear any more of her sonâs antics.
Meanwhile, in the drawing-room things seemed to be running smoothly as Gigi read a novel and Eloise sat next to her reading the latest Lady Whistledown, while Benedict draws the pair in his sketchbook.
âUgh! I canât believe tomorrow is the day where our whole future is defined by the judgment of the queenâ Eloise couldnât keep her discontent in after reading the suppositions of who could be this seasonâs Incomparable âCan you believe it? Tomorrow our settling down beginsâ she sighed dramatically.
âStop scaring the girl, Eloiseâ Benedict chastised with a smile, not looking up from his sketch.
âItâs not like I have a choice on the matter, so I try not to worry too much about itâ Gigi gave her a small smile as if trying to comfort her.
âRight?! Society makes us feel like we have no choice, we either settle for a boring man who will hopefully be interesting enough to-â
âI donât think she meant that she is pressured by society, dear sisterâ chuckled Benedict
âOh, then pray tell me what you meant Graceâ
âMy father is very illâ started Gigi with a sad look as she let the book fall on her lap âIâm his only daughter and he wishes to see me married and in love before his passingâ
Silence filled the room after Gigi finished speaking, she picked her book back up and resumed her reading when Eloiseâs voice suddenly cut through the quiet atmosphere.
âYou could marry one of my brothers, you know?â She said it more as thought said out loud than an actual suggestion and it caused Benedict to loudly scratch his pencil against the paper of his drawing.
âI donât think that would be a wise suggestion sisterâ he racked his brain trying to come up with a way to explain how adamant he was on NOT getting married anytime soon âI for one wouldnât want to be the brother in question, no offense Gigiâ
âNone takenâ she giggled âI understand where youâre coming from Eloise but neither of your brothers seems prepared, or willing, to get married this seasonâ
âWell itâs your loss, these dimwits may not look like much but they are somewhat intelligent and also very desirable matches according to Lady Whistledownâ
âWell isnât this a warm welcome?â Colin's voice startled the siblings and their guest as they didnât expect him to arrive for another month.
Benedict was the first to stand and embrace his brother while his sister seemed to be torn between welcoming Colin and running to the Featheringtonâs residency to notify her best friend of his arrival, she knew Penelope would appreciate learning the news before the whole ton started whispering about it or even worse reading about it the next day. Standing up she chose to run to her friendâs home and also drag her guest along to not leave her alone with her brothers who were already deep in conversation.
âTell mother we will be back for lunch!â She ran to the door with an iron grip around Gigiâs wrist only stopping to give a quick âWelcome home brother!â
âIt was lovely to meet you!â That was all Gigi managed to get out before being dragged through the streets of London towards the Featherington home.
/////Time jump\\\\\
The picnic had gone wonderfully and Violet could not have been happier, surrounded by all her children and one grandchild. For a moment she forgot the expectations, the pressure of the next dayâs events that signified the start of a new season that would, hopefully, be less dramatic than the last.
The men chatted about Colinâs travels as all the older men had already taken the same voyages, in way less innocent intents than him (read: brothel tour) as he seemed truly interested in the culture, the sights, and the history of the places he visited. Of course, he had met many women on his travels and he had laid with some of them but of that, he wouldnât speak in such proximity to his mother and sisters.
Later that evening the girls had gone to pick up their debut dresses accompanied by the duchess to get as much advice as possible in how to be the Incomparable of the season, Daphne truly didnât know how she had achieved that and if she had to be completely honest she only went to spend some time with her sister.
When the girls arrived back at the Bridgerton home, Violet decided it would be early supper and early bedtime for everyone because tomorrow was a crucial day for everyoneâs life. Lady Bridgerton knew she couldnât control what her sons would get up to in the late-night but she would make sure that her debutants were well rested before their presentation to the queen, and she made sure of it by personally escorting them to their shared room and verifying they had in fact gone to bed.
Way past the middle of the night Gigi woke up with a start after having a nightmare about her motherâs death, tears were running down her cheeks and her heart was hammering inside her chest so fast it was almost painful. She quickly looked to Eloiseâs sleeping form and breathed a sigh of relief when she confirmed that the girl had not been awakened by her. Slowly and quietly Gigi got up from the bed and grabbed her robe, she needed some fresh air to calm down and maybe some milk.
Little tears were still falling from her eyes as she walked to the kitchen but the hammering of her heart had subsided by now, as she passed the office she noticed light coming from the room and with a frown, she went to see who was there at this ungodly hour. It was Anthony who was hunched over his desk holding an almost empty cup of liquor, his other hand supporting his head and messing his once perfectly combed hair, he was looking at some papers that were carelessly thrown over the desk surface with a deep frown.
âLord Bridgerton is everything okay?â she knew she shouldâve just continued her path to the kitchen but seeing him so concerned made her feel a dull ache in her chest.
He was startled by her voice, almost dropping his cup and lifting his head so quickly he got a little dizzy. He took a good look at her and realized a couple of things: first, she had been crying, and second, even in the simplest of robes with dried tears on her cheeks she looked breathtakingly beautiful.
âMiss Gillingham what are you doing awake at this hour?â
âI could ask you the same thingâ she hadnât meant to sound so sassy but her sleepy brain couldnât process much formality at the moment.
âItâs nothing that concerns youâ he said it with no intention of being harsh but her small wince let him know it came out that way âmay I ask you, where were you heading to before stumbling into my office?â
âI was on my way to the kitchen to heat some milk, couldnât sleepâ
âI could help you with thatâ he surprised even himself with the suggestion because he knew he couldnât even turn on the stove âstay here, Iâll go to the kitchen, itâs no place for a barefoot lady to be inâ
She blushed and looked down at her feet that were in fact bare. He got up from his desk and walked up to where she was standing by the door, he gently pulled her inside the room and guided her to sit on the couch, silently instructing her to stay there before taking his leave for the kitchen. After he left she decided it would be nice of her to refill his drink, she grabbed the liquor bottle that sat atop one of the many papers on the desk and poured it in the cup. She knew she shouldnât be reading what was written on the papers but her eyes couldnât help but wander around the surface and soon realized what troubled Anthony, someone was stealing from the family.
âYou didnât need to do that, I couldâve poured it myselfâ she jumped a little when she heard his voice.
âNonsense, you went into the trouble of getting me...cold? Milkâ she had one look at the small glass bottle he held in his hand with a small smile.
âAh yesâ he chuckled âI didnât want to bother a kitchen maid so cold milk it isâ
âI appreciate the gesture Lord Bridgertonâ she took the bottle from his hands as he approached her âI understand you not wanting to wake any of the kitchen staff as one of them is clearly stealing from youâ
âWhat are you talking about? Such accusations are not to be said in such a lightly mannerâ
âI apologize, sir, I didnât mean to anger youâ she looked down at her feet and tears welled her eyes once again.
âWhat makes you think one of our kitchen staff is stealing from us?â He was genuinely curious about her answer, not sure if heâd believe it but nonetheless curious.
âHereâ she pointed to a piece of paper and his breath hitched at her proximity âit says that you bought 50 baguettes from the bakery todayâ
âYes, what about it?â
âWell I saw your table this morning and there were no baguettes there, in the picnic he had croissants and for dinner, there were, again, no baguettesâ she felt proud of the way he looked down at her in what could only be described as awe âBaguette is a bread that must be eaten within the same day it is bought as it will get stale rather quickly, it is also an incredible amount of bread for a relatively small family to eatâ she completed her explanation and stepped back to give him room to see it for himself.
âI believe you are correct but I must know, how did you know this?â All Anthony could think about was how wonderful it would be to have a wife that could understand such concepts of family economy.
âThe same thing happened at our state a couple of years back, our housekeeper claimed to buy enormous quantities of food to get the extra coin herselfâ
âWho caught her?â
âMy momâ she smiled âShe said men wouldâve never noticed because they had no idea how a kitchen works, she did and she taught me that being a good wife meant not only raising the children but also making sure everything in the home is working how it's supposed to, among other thingsâ
âShe sounds like a wonderful womanâ he wanted to embrace her with how small and sad she looked but he refrained from doing so, it would be highly inappropriate.
âShe wasâ a yawn tore through her and she suddenly realized just how tired she was âWell good night Lord Bridgerton, thank you for the milkâ
He took the vessel from her hand, set it gently on the table, and offered his arm to accompany her to the door.
âGoodnight to you too, and please call me Anthonyâ
She looked up at him one last time before turning and padding to her bedroom as quietly as she could. Meanwhile, Anthony sat back at his desk and chuckled in disbelief, he had spent the past three hours trying to know where the sudden increase of expenses had come from and she had solved it after mere seconds of looking, she truly was a wonderful woman and would be an even better wife. He couldnât help but think for a brief moment that she could perhaps be a wonderful wife for him.
Morning came quicker than expected and the house was filled with running maids preparing baths, horses being brushed, and food being made. Anthony fired their housekeeper, Violet wanted to kill him as he chose to do so at the worst possible time and that forced her to make her personal maid the housekeeper to keep things running smoothly on such an important date. The girls came down with their hair done wearing robes so they could eat before getting dressed, Violet didnât want them to spill anything on them but most importantly she didnât want to have either of the girls fainting in front of the queen due to hunger, so breakfast in a robe was the solution.
Disaster hit Lady Bridgertonâs mind as soon as she saw the way her firstborn looked at Grace, he looked at her as if he was in love with her. She had no problem in her son choosing to court the young heiress but it would look terrible if he were to court her while she was staying in their home, it would certainly give the wrong impression. She rose from the table and grabbed her eldest daughter by the elbow prompting her to follow her out to the hallway where she proceeded to explain that she needed her and her husband to take Grace to Lady Dunburyâs house.
âBut why? Is our presence bothering you mother?â
âOf course not dearest, but I must get Grace out of the house to avoid a scandalâ at her daughterâs confused face she continued âyour brother seems to fancy her and Iâm afraid if he chose to court her it would look terrible if she was to be living under the same roof as himâ
Daphne understood her motherâs reasoning and agreed that it would be quite scandalous for a debutant to live in the same home as the man who courted her. Back in the dining room, the Duke of Hastings was getting worried by his wifeâs absence so he ventured into the hallway to find her and her mother speaking in hushed voices.
âMy love! I was just about to send for youâ Daphne reached her hand out to her husband and he took it with a wary look âMy mother has asked us to take over Graceâs season at Lady Danburyâs house, and I wanted to know if that may be possibleâ
He wanted to say no, he wanted to avoid staying the whole season under the scrutiny of the ton and also that of Lady Danbury, but he couldnât deny his wife the chance to spend this time close to her family and for her to take such responsibility was a task he knew she wished to do to make her mother proud. So despite wanting to deny such request he smiled and instead said heâd be honored to help her with such task and would make arrangements to speak with Lady Danbury and send their belongings there while they went to de debutants presentation.
The presentation to the queen goes uneventful until Eloise walks in accompanied by her mother, even though she failed to aid in catching Lady Whistledown The Queen admired the young lady and provided her with a nod of approval, which was an enormous statement coming from the monarch. Next walked in Grace with Daphne and to no oneâs surprise, she was deemed the Incomparable by the queen with a simple kiss to the forehead.
The news traveled fast and as soon as both ladies arrived at the ball in Lady Danburyâs home their dancing cards were filled with prospects, well Graceâs was because thanks to Anthonyâs âassistanceâ Eloiseâs was impossibly blank. Daphne and Simon had decided to allow Gigi to dance with whoever she liked and they would worry about background checks when the dances turned into gentleman callers.
Anthony spent half of his attention taking good care of his sister and the other half was put into painfully watching Gigi dancing with different men, but what hurt the most was seeing that the man that made her smile the most was his own brother. He watched Colin take her first dance and couldnât help the jealousy coursing through his veins as he saw them smiling and laughing as he twirled her around the dance floor. Perhaps that jealousy is what prompted him to abandon his sisterâs side and approach the purple-eyed girl to ask for a dance.
âIâm so sorry Anthony but my dance card is full for the nightâ she was truly apologetic even though she had no way of knowing the eldest Bridgerton would want her to save a dance for him.
âMay I see it?â He read through the list of names and chose to scratch over Benedictâs name knowing his brother had saved himself a dance with the girl only to save her from another dance with an impossibly boring gentleman, so he wouldnât mind giving his dance up to his older brother.
âIs that allowed?â She asked with a smile.
âIt is when heâs your brotherâ he dropped the card and handed back her pencil âDo me a favor and save me a dance on the next ball, and all others after thatâ with a final smile he left her to dance with the next gentleman and went back to his sisterâs side.

Helloooo~ can I request? If yes, here is my idea: Reader being super amazing at drawing and she secretly has a huge crush on Remus and as well has a sketchbook with tons of his portraits with cute words. James and Sirius discover that she looks at Remus and "write" on her notebook so decide to secretly take her "notes" and read them. Remus finds the two admiring/laughing at the sketchbook and take it from them while the readers is going crazy searching it. Full creativity to you for what happens next just make it floof cuz I need it haha. Love your writing †and Have a wonderful day :3
OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS THANK U SO MUCH đ„ș also lmao this would so be me i already draw him n do lil poems for him even tho iâm awful at it
Artistic Love
It was another late night in the Gryffindor common room, students rushing in and out while some sat down and talked with their friends you, sirius, james and remus all sat next to the fireplace on the sofa, you had your sketchbook out, using your pencil to your crush, Remus Lupin, as he laughed with his best mates probably planning some pranks to do with them, you didnât really pay attention you were more focused on capturing how beautiful this man was in your sketchbook, after a few hours you had finished and coincidentally Remus had to leave to get a game from their dorm room. Just as he left you thought of a few words to jot down next to the recent drawing, âyour heart reminds me of a home i never hadâ.
Little did you know a certain Sirius Black kept sneaking glances at you, wondering what you had been doing for the past two hours, but you had your sketchbook hidden by your knees as you brought them close to you to hold your sketchbook on them, then Remus came back and you quickly shut it and put it down on the arm of the sofa next to you, âwanna play with us (Y/N)?â Remus asked when he noticed you had put what he assumed was homework away, you nodded with a smile, moving closer to Remus you all played a game of snap which resulted in James being told since he lost he would have to do the next prank by himself since it included going into the Slytherin dorms, after another hour went by the prefect came to the group and told them they had to go off to bed, Sirius sent a glance towards your black sketchbook while you were saying âwell I guess Iâll go to bed then, goodnight idiots.â James noticed Sirius eyeing something, âmhm, we donât have much choice but sure, good night (Y/n).â James said, Remus nodded and smiled at you, trying to look like he wasnât crushing on you, but of course failing as the on coming blush appeared on his face. You walked up the stairs and made your way into your dorm room, you got ready to bed and fell asleep instantly.
Downstairs though James and Sirius stayed down there while Remus was back in their dorms, Sirius walked over to your sketchbook and started flicking through the pages, âSirius, what are you doing? If you want to copy (Y/n)âs homework you could have just-â âitâs not homework, idiot. Look...â Sirius pushed the book so James could see it, and there in pencil was an accurate sketch of Remus from that exact night smiling away. â.. itâs Remus? Why... Unless-â James concluded locking eyes with Sirius, they both smirked at each other thinking the same thing, âShe fancies him...â Sirius said confirming what they both thought, âitâs kind of cute but ew,â James replied while looking at the older sketches as Sirius continued looking through it.
âWait till Moony finds out, heâs going to have a heart attack.â Sirius laughed, âwhat if we gave them the extra push? Like we hide the sketchbook until (y/n) admits their feelings and whatâs really in here?â James wondered out loud making Sirius grin at the suggestion, âthat, my friend could work, but we have to hide this though so Remus doesnât find it.â Holding the sketchbook in his hand they book walked up the stairs to their shared dorm, when opening the door Remus was already ready for bed reading a book he glanced up when he realised they had come up, âtook you long enough,â he sighed, putting his book on the side table Sirius walked to his bed, crouching down he began to take all the stuff out of the cupboard that each of them got, Remus now had seen the sketchbook asked both of them, âwhy are you stealing (Y/n)âs homework for ? you guys can just copy from me you know...â He wondered making James shrug as he watched Sirius hide it, â(y/n)âs got better notes than you Moony, letâs be honest,â Remus gasped offended, âfine be like that, I wonât let you lot copy from me again then.â He said before turning over in bed and trying to fall asleep.
Sirius sent James a smirk, knowing what was about to happen the next day the boys quickly got ready for bed and joined Remus in dream land.
âWHERE IS IT?!?â The Mauraders heard as they came down the stairs, dressed and ready for the busy day ahead, they saw you throwing the cushions around the sofa and looking underneath it only to find Zonkoâs sweet wrappers, Remus looked at Sirius and James with a raised eyebrow not forgetting that he saw them two with their book. âGive it back to her, please donât be a pair of dicks.â He asked, making Sirius say, âI donât know what youâre talking about mate, come on letâs help (Y/n).â Making their way over to you James spoke first, âwhat you lost (y/n)?â âMy uh notebook, it had class notes in and stuff,â You replied anxiously, your eyes wondering all around the room in hope it would just appear. âoh yeah? what kind of notes?â Sirius asked with a small smirk on his face trying hard to hide it as he leaned against James. ây-you know, school stuff,â You started to blush as Remus began looking around, looking at the clock Sirius mentioned, âwhy donât we look for it later? weâll miss breakfast at this point and i donât know about you lot but Iâm craving some breaky right now.â James nodded along with him already waiting just near the portrait door for Remus.
Remus sighed as he looked at them, he looked back at (y/n), âweâll look again later, weâll either find it or you can have my notes.â He reassured making you nod and smile at him, âI have to keep looking but you guys go on and have some breakfast.â They all began walking out, leaving you alone with the scary thought that either someone would use the sketchbook as blackmail or would just straight up show Remus breaking the little bit of friendship you did share with him.
You looked for another two hours, then stopped knowing youâd be late for class if you didnât, you walked solemnly to the lesson which was transfiguration, the boys had already sat down but Remus kept a spot empty next to him for you, âyou find your notebook yet?â he asked, ânope.â You responded, you thought to yourself at least you know it either hasnât been kidnapped or given to Remus yet.
After the class was over as you began to walk away Remus called for you, âI saved you some food, you know from breakfast,â he placed the food container his mum had given him in your hands that had a few slices of toast inside of it, somehow it still felt hot. âoh, thank you Remus, thatâs really sweet of you.â You replied making Remus reach his hand up to his neck, the tell tale sign he was nervous, he nodded with a smile and began to walk away towards Sirius and James who were standing there smirking at the interaction. âYou dog, you so like her!â James said with a laugh leaving him as he wrapped an arm around Remusâs shoulder. âNo i donât! It was a thoughtful thing to do, itâs not her fault you idiots probably lost her notebook.â
After classes were over the Sirius thought the plan needed an extra push so James distracted Remus while Sirius put the push in action, âYou like Moony donât you?â He asked making you freeze up, ân-no, why would you think that?â âwell, a little birdie told me you draw him... A LOT.. you even write little almost like poetry beside said drawings.â âoh my god, Sirius who has it?? Tell me, please-â
â... James, heâs actually thinking of showing Remus it right now-âAs soon as that nearly full sentence left Siriusâs mouth you ran up the dorm stairs, as you had seen James take Remus back to their dorm room you were ready to kill him for this. Opening the door you saw what you thought was James holding open your sketchbook to Remus, âITâs NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!â You shouted, the blush on your face deepening at what Remus probably thought of you now.
âwhat is it then, (y/n)??â James, asked closing the book and waiting for your answer, âI drew Remus because I just thought he is aesthetically pleasing to my artistic senses, there, not that iâm in love with him.â You said in a normal tone, thinking you had tricked them all, but you did not.
â... you drew me?â Remus asked in a whisper, James brought the book he was showing Remus to you, inside it was just school notes, it wasnât your sketchbook at all. You gulped, trying to think of how you were going to get out of this one. ây-yeah... itâs not weird though, right?â You asked nervously, James sighed loudly, putting the book down he walked over to Siriusâs cup board and got your actual sketchbook out. âFor Godricks sake! Just look and see, you both fancy each other and kiss, itâs not that hard you know.â He passed the sketchbook to Remus who opened it to just the first page and looked at the drawing of him, his eyes reading the words âIf youâre a monster then why am I so in love with you?â He kept replaying those words in his mind, James decided his job was done and left, joining Sirius downstairs.
âSo... you like me?â Remus asked, sitting the sketchbook down so you could see it too, you walked closer to him, nodding sadly knowing he was either going to be mad at you or stop being friends all together. âIâm not mad or anything, honest, I just... I guess I do fancy you.â He added, making you look at him now slightly hopeful, he smiled at you before looking back down at the page, ââIf youâre a monster then why am I so in love with you?â No ones ever, said anything like that to me before, but it makes my stomach feel like itâs got a thousand snitches inside of it,â He laughed slightly making you laugh with him, you sat down in front of him on his bed when he made room. âYou really like me? youâre not just saying that so this isnât embarrassing or anything right?â You asked suspiciously, Remus responded with âMhmmm I donât know, letâs see.â He brought his lips to yours, making you gasp in shock, he took that as his opportunity, and pushed his tongue into your mouth, going from 1-1000 VERY quickly, you both sighed into the kiss as his hands held your face into place your hands moved to his neck, playing with the ends of his hair as best as you could, until all of a sudden Remus pulled away, panting out of breath he nodded and almost giggled as he said âyep, I guess I really really do fancy you.â he leaned over again to press a kiss to your forehead.
I hope you enjoyed !

Way to Please
Read part one first, read on Ao3Â
Trigger warnings: Emotional abuse, gaslighting, being called selfish, ableism, familial abuse, panic attacks, touch-starved Logan, food mentionÂ
A/N: This is a commission! Another thanks to @darkle-elkradâ!! :D More info at the endÂ
Disclaimer: J. is NOT Janus, heâs an unsympathetic OC.
Read on Ao3
Logan pushed the knob on his fidget cube in slow circles. It was a simple toy, all black, and usually hidden in his pocket. He currently had it pressed between his thigh and the car door. His stomach was knotted and he stared out the window almost obsessively, counting every mile they got closer to his new school.Â
âYou messing with that toy again?âÂ
Logan looked at J. He shoved it in his pocket. âSorry.âÂ
ââS fine. People are gonna make fun of you for being a baby, though.âÂ
Loganâs face heated up. âI told you I wonât use it in front of other people.âÂ
They pulled into the collegeâs parking lot. Loganâs small life was packed up neatly in the backseat. J. turned the car off and sighed.Â
âYou sure you donât need help moving in?â J. gave him a look. âYou know how you can get.âÂ
Logan nodded once. âI know. But I can control that. I can move in myself, donât worry.âÂ
hesitated, then sighed again. âAlright. Get out, then. Call me tonight.âÂ
âYeah. Love you.âÂ
âMhm.âÂ
Logan stacked up his three boxes and started towards his dorm. Luckily, J. had taken a few weeks off his own education and brought Logan down for a tour last week, so he knew exactly where he was going. He managed all the way to his room and fumbled for the key card in his wallet.Â
He nearly dropped his boxes, and his heart leapt into his throat. He caught them just fine, but the panic remained, fizzling slowly like water down a stopped drain. His fingers itched for his cube. He ignored it, and got the door open just before the anxiety peaked.Â
One half of the room was already claimed, half unpacked suitcases sprawled over the bed and wardrobe, so Logan dumped his stuff on the second bed. He immediately righted the boxes and tossed some fallen items back inside. He glanced over his shoulder.Â
He was alone.Â
He shoved his hand in his pocket and found the side with the buttons, mashing them down before flipping it to switch. He click-click-clacked it a few times as the tension slipped from his chest.Â
He took a second to look around the room. His roommateâs life was coated in black and purple. Band tees stuck out of the half clothes drawer, notebook upon notebook littering his bed. He had a purple and black plaid quilt tossed over a gray weighted blanket. An expensive laptop sat freely on the desk.Â
â...oh, come on, you are such an asshole.â The door opened and closed, and a boy with purple hair came inside, holding a phone to his ear with his arms full of sodas and candy. âYeah, yeah, yeah. Fuck you, too. Sure. Later. Love you.âÂ
Logan blinked.Â
The boy dumped his food on his bed and shoved his phone in his pocket. He raised an eyebrow. âUh, hi.âÂ
Logan nodded. âWas that a⊠girlfriend?âÂ
âNah, my brother.â He turned back to line his drinks on the shared desk. âIâm Virgil.âÂ
âLogan.â He hesitated, then turned to his own bed, pulling out neatly rolled up clothes.Â
âI hope you donât mind that I already picked my side.â Virgil grabbed another armful of clothes and went over to the wardrobe, punching down the fabric until he could layer more inside.Â
Logan couldnât help but say, âYou could fit more if you folded them.âÂ
Virgil snorted. âThereâs three other drawers. Iâll be fine.âÂ
âRight.â His face flushed. âSorry.âÂ
Logan hung his clothes in the closet. They unpacked silently. Logan occasionally tapped his pocket, just to make sure his cube was still there.Â
Virgil sat at the edge of his bed and held out his hand. âLet me see your class schedule?âÂ
Logan startled, then fumbled for his backpack. âRightâ Uh, sorry, one second.âÂ
He found it while Virgil watched with raised eyebrows. He handed it over. Virgil hummed, gray eyes trailing over the paper. He really was striking. He was loud in a way Logan never wanted to be, but Virgil didnât seem upset by it. It was all clearly a choice, from the way he dressed to how he styled his hair. He lounged on his bed, taking up all the space without taking his combat boots off first, chewing on his nailsâ likely while the nail polish was chipped.Â
Nail polish. His middle fingers were painted black, the rest a strong purple. How did he have the confidence to wear nail polish? If Logan tried that, J. would make fun of him until he cried.Â
âWe have some Gen-Eds together,â Virgil mused. âAnd an art class. How long have you been drawing?âÂ
Logan swallowed and sat on his bed. It was clear Virgil wasnât handing the schedule back any time soon. âNot long. I just picked it up last year, actually. It sounded, I donât know, relaxing.âÂ
Virgil grinned and glanced at him. âItâs frustrating, isnât it?âÂ
âItâs⊠hard. Harder than I expected.âÂ
âCan I see?âÂ
Logan hesitated. He reached for the box with his sketchbook, but Virgil held his hand up.Â
âItâs okay. No need to look so panicked.â He chuckled. âIâll just look later. I was going to go look around campus, make sure I know where all my classes are. Wanna come with? We can check the Gen-Eds.âÂ
Logan really didnât want toâ he knew where his classes were, and he planned on finding good spots for his stuff âbut he nodded and stood. He glanced at Virgilâs bed, where he laid on top of all of his stuff. A few things crumpled and crunched as he rolled onto his feet.Â
âCool.â He grabbed a Monster off the desk and popped it open. âLetâs go.âÂ
Virgil wasnât actually as loud as he looked. He had the confidence down, and he teased Logan quite a bit, but he was very⊠calm. Logan would never admit it out loud, but he was jealous. He could never be that sure of himself.Â
After finding their Gen-Eds, they agreed to stick together to find their other classes as well. Logan admitted to having already visited hisâ Virgil laughed âso they set off to find Virgilâs.Â
Once they got to the last class on the list, Virgil stopped. âShit,â he whispered. âOh, shit.âÂ
Logan frowned. âWhat is it?âÂ
The wind blew through Virgilâs bangs, revealing wide, anxiety-filled eyes. The courtyard was mostly empty, the occasional student passing by a couple dozen feet away.Â
âThey put me in the wrong class.â Virgil pushed his hair back and drew in a shaky breath. âWe agreed Iâd be in the morning class, Iâ I canât make this one, I donât knowâ fuck.âÂ
âHey.â Logan took a small step closer. âHey, itâs okay. We can just go talk to someone, right?âÂ
Virgil shook his head quickly. His breathing was speeding up. âNo, are you kidding? Theyâre probably so busy, this is stupid. I justâ fuck, Iâll have to make it work.âÂ
âVirgil, no.â Logan laughed weakly. âNo, come on, we can fix this. Breathe, right?âÂ
ââBreatheââ Right, fuck, Iâm not⊠Iâm not breathing.âÂ
Logan held his hands out, and Virgil scrambled to take them. Logan held them tight. âUh, just follow my breathing.âÂ
Logan helped him right himself, a few tears slipping out from Virgilâs eyes, but he mostly got himself back together pretty fast.Â
âFuck, Iâm sorry.â Virgil gave Logan their schedules and pushed his sweaty palms down his pants. He wiped his face. âSorry, that was⊠stupid.â He fiddled with the zipper on his hoodie.Â
âNo, it wasnât. I⊠uh, here.â Logan hesitated, then found his fidget cube and pressed it into Virgilâs hand.Â
Virgil looked at it in surprise. His fingers naturally found the side with the buttons, click-click-clicking. âOh. Thanks. I had one of these last year but I lost it.âÂ
Logan blinked. âReally?âÂ
âYeah. Iâll give it back though, donât worry.âÂ
âLetâs go talk to the registrar. We can tell them your schedule is conflicting.âÂ
Virgil stared at the cube. He flicked the dial a few times, listening to the light crank as it snapped back. âAre you sure?â He mumbled.Â
Logan forced a smile against his nerves. âOf course. Better to do it now then wait until itâs worse.âÂ
âThatâs true. Okay.â He laughed weakly and straightened his shirt out. âRight, youâre right. Sorry about this.âÂ
âItâs fine,â Logan promised.Â
Logan walked with him down to the registrar's office and it ended up being an easy fix. Virgil walked out while rolling his eyes.Â
âI canât believe that gave me a panic attack. Shit, Iâve had panic attacks over some dumb things, but⊠wow.âÂ
Logan laughed. âItâs a⊠big day. Donât worry about it. I, uh⊠I had a couple today, too.âÂ
âWell, panic attacks make me hungry. Do you want to go grab something to eat?âÂ
Logan nodded. âSure.âÂ
They stopped outside their dorm building. Virgil texted for a moment, then said, âI have a car we can borrow. Come on.âÂ
They found a silver truck in the Juniorâs parking lot. Virgil pulled the keys out of his pocket. âItâs my brotherâs,â he said. âIâve got a spare key.âÂ
âYour brother sounds cool.â Logan climbed into the passenger side.Â
It was a very tall truck. His face heated up as he struggled a little to get inside.Â
âHeâs an asshole,â Virgil laughed. âWhat do you want to eat?âÂ
âUhââ Loganâs mind blanked. âUm⊠I donâtâ I donât know, what do you want?âÂ
Virgil raised an eyebrow. âUm⊠Okay, well, I know a Chinese place close by thatâs good. We can grab one to bring back?âÂ
Logan nodded and relaxed into his seat. âYeah. Thatâs good.âÂ
Virgil pulled out of the parking lot. They took their food to go, Logan managing to find a kosher option fairly easily, and ate while flipping through Netflix. They found a show theyâd both been wanting to watch and got stuck on it easily. They ended up watching the entire first season, only stopping to break open Virgilâs collection of snacks. Â
Logan went to bed that night, later than he ever had, feeling better than he ever had.Â
xxxÂ
âHey, Iâm going to see my brother. Want to come?âÂ
Logan looked up from his homework in surprise. âUm⊠sure?âÂ
Virgil had been acting weird lately. He invited him to go somewhere or do something every day. If Logan showed the slightest bit of hesitation, he backed off, but there he was again the next day. If Logan did hesitate, Virgil wouldnât let him go back on it. Logan didnât understand it.Â
Heâd also started acting more nervous around Logan. Less sure of himself. Logan worried he did something. But if he did, thereâs no way Virgil would want him to meet his brother, would he?Â
He settled his homework neatly back inside his binder and checked a few things off his planner before grabbing his phone and wallet. He followed Virgil outside, where the streetlights glowed warmly against the dark sky, and across the courtyard. The Junior dorm buildings looked identical to the Freshmenâs, only a bit bigger. Inside, their lobby was much more taken care of, and looked more like a gameroom than anything. Groups of students sat with decks of cards, at vending machines, at pool tables. Instead of heading up to the dorms, Virgil led Logan to a small group of kids settled in bean bag chairs.Â
A boy with striking similarities to Virgilâ all angles and bones, the same gray eyes âsat with another boy, covered in freckles, settled in his lap.Â
âHey, Jan. Hey, Patton.â Virgil placed a light hand on Loganâs shoulder. The touch burned through his shirt, and Logan nearly sucked in a breath. âThis is Logan, heâs my roommate.âÂ
âWow, youâre getting along with your roommate?â Janus asked in surprise. âI guess I owe Patton ten bucks.âÂ
âYou do not!â Patton rolled his eyes with a smile. âWe did not make a bet, Virgil. Heâs doing his thing.âÂ
âI know,â Virgil laughed.Â
He pulled the last free bean bag chair towards them and yanked Logan down with him. Their sides pressed together, the bag molding them against each other, Logan couldnât breathe. He managed to settle himself on the edge of the chair. His side was cold as ice, his heart racing. Virgil gave him a weird look before shoving it off and looking back to Janus.Â
Logan thought briefly when the last time he had a hug was. Surely not that long ago, right? Parents hugged their children all the time. But he couldnât quite recall. If heâd been hugged recently, would he still have the strong urge to reach out and feel Virgilâs hair? To take his hand and trace Virgilâs fingers? To feel Virgilâs palm against his face?Â
Loganâs face flushed. Stop acting creepy.Â
âWhat are we playing?â Virgil asked.Â
Virgil helped him through the card game. It became obvious towards the third round that Janus was cheating, mostly because Patton scolded him loud enough for everyone to hear.Â
âWait, heâs been cheating?â Virgil threw his cards down dramatically. âYou bitch!âÂ
Janus laughed as Virgil kicked the cards at him. Logan tensed.Â
âStop fighting!â Patton sighed, but he was smiling. Why was he smiling? He batted his eyelashes at Janus. âBaby, buy me a snack?âÂ
Janus picked Patton up, stood, then tossed Patton into the bean bag chair. He squealed.Â
âDonât use that voice on me.â Janus leaned down and kissed him softly. âTotally unfair.âÂ
âOh, is it?âÂ
They mumbled together for a moment between kisses. Logan was certain his face had never been so red. Virgil picked up a card and flung it at them.Â
âGross! I donât want to see my brother make out with anyone!âÂ
Janus snorted as he pulled away and found his wallet. âThatâs just because youâve never made out with anyone.âÂ
Virgilâs ears turned red. âThatâs not true! Gah!âÂ
Janus left to the vending machine, and Patton relaxed into the chair with a wide grin. âSo Logan, what are you studying?âÂ
âPhysics,â he mumbled. âAre you two okay?âÂ
Virgil looked at him in surprise. âMe and Janus?âÂ
Logan nodded.Â
âUh, yeah? Why?âÂ
âYou guys were fighting?âÂ
Patton giggled while Virgil raised an eyebrow. âWe werenât fighting, we were joking. You donât have brothers?âÂ
âNo, I have one. Heâs two years older than me.âÂ
âAlright⊠whatâs his name? Maybe Janus knows him.âÂ
âHe doesnât go to this school.â Logan found his fidget cube in his pocket and rolled his thumb around the metal ball. âHeâs at a college in our hometown.âÂ
âYou moved away for college?â Patton asked in surprise.Â
âWhatâs going on?â Janus dropped into Pattonâs lap and pressed several packets of gummies into his palm with a kiss to his cheek.Â
âLogan went to college out of state to get away from his brother,â Virgil said.Â
Loganâs eyes widened. âThatâs not true!âÂ
Virgil bumped their shoulders together.Â
âIf Virgil tried going to college out of state without a good reason, Iâd kill him.â Janus pulled Patton closer. âSeriously. Iâd be worried out of my mind.âÂ
âYou donâtâŠâ Logan hated to confirm Virgilâs suspicion, but he couldnât stop himself from asking, âyou donât need, like, a break?âÂ
Everyone stared at him.Â
âNo,â Janus said flatly. âNo, I actually love my brother.âÂ
âGross,â Virgil mumbled, but his ears were red again.Â
âI love my brother,â Logan insisted.Â
âOh, we donât doubt that.âÂ
âI justâ I donât know. You guys were fighting yesterday morning, too.âÂ
Virgil stared at him in confusion, until it clicked. He laughed. âYou mean when I was on the phone? Lo, he called me a coffee gremlin so I told him to fuck off. It wasnât a fight. We were just messing with each other.âÂ
Heat steadily climbed up Loganâs neck. He closed his hand around his cube until it hurt. He wanted to curl in on himself, escape the conversation, and never see any of them again.Â
âWhat the hell does your brother call you?â Janus asked.Â
âItâs not a big deal,â Logan said weakly. âWeâre justâ weâre not as close as you, I guess.âÂ
âLogan, itâs okay,â Patton said softly, face pinched with worry. âYou can talk about it. No oneâs here to judge you, weâre not trying to force you to be grateful for your family or anything.âÂ
Janus squeezed Pattonâs shoulder. âYeah, we know about shitty families, if thatâs what this is.â
âAnd thatâs the vibe Iâm getting,â Virgil added. âThe shit Janus calls me doesnât bother me. I tell him if he says something fucked up. What does your brother do?âÂ
âIâ I donât know, I donât know.â Logan pushed his sweaty palms against his jeans. âHe just⊠gets mad sometimes. You know?â
âNo,â Virgil said flatly. âWhat does he do when heâs mad?âÂ
âHe just⊠gets mad.â Loganâs voice trembled. He didnât know how to get out of this. He made a big deal out of it, something that so clearly wasnât a big deal, and now he was just stuck. âI guess he, I donât know, he calls me selfish sometimes.âÂ
âLike when?â Patton asked. Heâd leaned forward, hands clasped between his knees, brows knitted.Â
Logan stuttered through a few stories off the top of his head. Heâd tried to tell them in a casual way, insist that it wasnât a big deal and he was fine, but everyone was so⊠concerned. Virgilâs fists clenched around his hoodie, Janusâ eyes narrowed. Logan ducked his head. He was shaking.Â
He scrambled to his feet. âIâm sorry, I think Iâ I think I need to go.âÂ
âLogan,â Virgil sighed. âWe can stop talking about it, but come on. You canât like the way he treats you.âÂ
âDoes it matter?âÂ
Everyone paused. Logan pressed a hand to his forehead.Â
âNo,â Janusâ voice dripped with sarcasm, âof course not. People can just do whatever they want to you with no consequences.â He waved his hand. âWho cares, right?âÂ
Logan froze up. His muscles were pulled taut, eyes squeezed shut, his body wilting like a dead flower.Â
âJanus,â Patton scolded.Â
He sighed. âSorry. Look, of course it matters. Come on, sit down. Everything is fine.âÂ
Logan didnât believe that. But he sat anyway. He answered their questions. He explained everything as honestly as he could.Â
Part of him wanted to defend J., to insist that it really wasnât that bad and J. loved him. But Logan wasnât sure if J. did love him. Heâd heard how Virgil talked about Janus, and there wasnât a doubt in Loganâs mind that J. would never talk about him that way. Heâd seen how Janus looked at Virgil, sometimes angry but usually in a protective way. It wasnât like anything Logan had seen from J.Â
Hearing them throw around the words âabusive,â âmanipulative,â and even âgaslighting,â was hard. Logan jammed the joystick on his fidget cube around so much he almost broke it, bouncing his leg up and down, eventually having to get up and pace. He kept waiting for the snapping, for everyone to tell him how annoying he was being and that he needed to sit and be quiet. They didnât.Â
It was almost uncomfortable.Â
The conversation eventually movedâ Logan was simultaneously relieved and disappointed âbut everyone looked at him different after that. Before Virgil and Logan went back to their room, Patton offered a hug. Logan hesitated, and was about to step into Pattonâs arms, when Virgil grabbed his shoulderâ just long enough to make him pause.Â
âYou donât have to say yes,â he said flatly.Â
Pattonâs eyes widened. âOh, gosh! Right! Of course not. Sorry, Logan.â
Logan cleared his throat. âItâs okay.âÂ
On the walk back, Virgil said, âWeâre going to have to work on that.âÂ
Logan shoved his hands in his pockets. With Fall kicking in full force, it was freezing outside at night, their breath coming out as fog.Â
âWork on what?â He mumbled. His body was heavy, eyes lidded.Â
âYour whole people pleaser bullshit. You donât have to say yes to everything. Itâs okay to not want to do something.âÂ
Logan swallowed. He shrugged.Â
Virgil stepped in front of Logan and crossed his arms. âWe need to set some boundaries, or else I canât be friends with you. Iâm not going to hurt you because you wonât communicate. I wonât be like J.â Virgil stared for a moment, eyes swiping over Loganâs face. His eyes softened. âI wonât be mad. Youâre just going to have to trust me on that.âÂ
âI donâtâŠâ Loganâs heart thumped in his ears. He pressed his thumb against the buttons of his cube. âI donât really⊠I donât know how to handle being touched.âÂ
Virgilâs eyebrows raised. âOh? I mean, okay. So donât touch you, then?âÂ
âMaybe, just⊠I donât know, not that often?â Logan bounced on the balls of his feet. The cold had wormed its way into his bones, and he felt like if he didnât move heâd either go crazy or freeze to death.Â
âCome on, letâs get inside.â Virgil nodded towards the door.Â
They didnât talk until they were settled into their beds and the lights were off.Â
âThanks for telling me,â Virgil said. âIâll talk to the others, too. You can always reach out if you want.âÂ
Loganâs eyes watered. He was grateful for the dark. âYeah,â he whispered.Â
âGoodnight, Lo.âÂ
âGoodnight, Virgil.âÂ
xxxÂ
Virgil and Logan laid on their stomachs, on the floor. Notebooks and textbooks were spread out in front of them, covered in highlighter and pen.Â
It was a few months after Logan had confessed about J., and a few things were becoming apparent. 1) Virgil was not giving up on him. Neither were Janus or Patton.Â
2) J. probably, almost definitely, did not love Logan.Â
Every day it was becoming more and more clear.Â
Logan had never been treated the way Virgil and his friends treated him. Sometimes they argued, sometimes Logan was so frustrated and confused he wanted to cry, but they never made him feel like he wasnât important. Every fight was important. And for the first time, he was able to move on from them. Even when things werenât quite resolved, even when there was still more to talk aboutâ that didnât stop Virgil from inviting him out to dinner, from joining him to study, for putting on a bad horror movie.Â
âAlright,â Virgil sighed, pushing the textbook away and burying his face in his arms. His voice came out muffled, âif I look at American History anymore Iâm going to die. What next?â
âUhâŠâ Logan cleared his throat and looked at their stack of remaining textbooks.Â
Semester finals were coming up in the next month and Logan was severely behind in Calculus.Â
âI donâtâ I donât know, what do you want to do next?âÂ
Virgil picked his head up sluggishly. He blinked at Logan for a second, hair mussed, wrinkles under his eyes. He grabbed their stack of textbooks and dragged it closer.Â
He hummed as he looked through it, then pulled the Calculus and Economics textbooks. He shoved the others away. âWhich one?âÂ
âUmâŠâ
âCome on, Iâm good with either. Which one?âÂ
Logan hesitated, then pushed away the Economics book.Â
âCool.â Virgil flipped the textbook open. âCome on, I want to get this done.âÂ
Logan flushed. He scrambled to find his notebook and flashcards, struggling to focus. A sturdy feeling of control settled over Loganâs bones, something he didnât think heâd ever felt before.Â
xxxÂ
âAlmost ready to go?â
âUh, yeah, just let meââÂ
Logan yanked the blanket down his bed, then pushed aside his pillow. He relaxed and snatched his fidget cube, shoving it in his pocket.Â
âOkay.â He straightened up. âIâm ready. Letâs go.âÂ
They left their dorm and headed downstairs. Theyâd planned to meet Janus and Patton in the parking lot so they could all go to this arcade nearby. Janus had jokingly (jokingly?) called it a double date.Â
âYeah, thereâs this zombie game youâd really like,â Virgil rambled as they stepped outside. He immediately tensed against the cold and stepped closer to Logan. Logan shuffled against him, their shared body heat negligible.Â
The parking lot appeared ahead and Logan stopped.Â
âLo?â Virgil frowned. âWhatâs up?âÂ
got out of his car and grinned as his eyes landed on Logan. He waved.Â
âUmâŠâ Shit. âIâ I donât know, uhââÂ
âLogan!âÂ
Virgil looked over his shoulder as J. headed towards them. His face darkened. âIs that J.?âÂ
âYeah.âÂ
âHey!â J. stopped in front of them and grinned. âSurprise. Come on, letâs go grab dinner. Whoâs this?âÂ
âVirgil.â Logan stepped closer. âMy roommate, remember?âÂ
âOh, yeah. Well anyway, letâs go.â
âActually,â Virgil said in annoyance, âwe had plans. Maybe you can call ahead next time.âÂ
quirked an eyebrow. Loganâs blood ran cold as J.âs eyes narrowed. âYouâll have to reschedule. Heâs my little brother, Iâm sure you can find someone else to drag along.âÂ
Virgil scoffed and glanced back at Logan, then stopped. âYouâre not really considering this, are you?âÂ
Logan looked between them, helpless. He was terrified of upsetting either of them, but there was no way to please both of them.Â
âIâ I donât know. J., we had plans,â he said quietly.Â
âYou can reschedule.â J. grabbed Loganâs arm and pulled him closer. âI havenât seen you in forever, donât be selfish.âÂ
âYou donât have to do what he wants,â Virgil insisted. His eyes were on J., face scrunched in a glower.Â
âWhatâs up with you?â J. asked in frustration. âYouâre acting like itâs a crime to take my little brother to dinner. Just lay off, will you?âÂ
He stormed away, dragging Logan behind him. Virgil huffed. His footsteps echoed away.Â
Please donât be mad.Â
Logan forced himself through dinner. The entire night crawled by, full of passive aggressive comments and insults Logan had forgotten how much he hated. He didnât understand why J. came all the way down here just to ridicule him. Couldnât he do that over text like he usually did? Didnât he catch on to why Logan stopped answering?Â
After J. drove him back to campus, way after nightfall, he grabbed Loganâs arm before he could escape. âWe need to talk.âÂ
Logan shoved his hand in his pocket. He flicked the switch, over and over, click-click-clickâÂ
âWill you stop playing with that fuckinâ toy? Iâm being serious.â
âIt calms me down,â Logan mumbled, pulling his hand out. âSorry.âÂ
âI donât like Virgil,â he said flatly. âI donât like how he treats you and honestly heâs fucking rude. Youâve been pulling away. Mom and Dad havenât heard from you in months. I havenât heard from you in longer. Thatâs not fair to us just because you have this new friend.âÂ
Logan stared. What the hell was he supposed to say? I like how Virgil treats me a whole fuckton more than you do. He couldnât say that. Even if he wanted to, which he wasnât sure he did.Â
âIâll talk to him about it,â he lied.Â
âTalk toââ J. barked a laugh, âno, ask for a new roommate. I donât want you talking to him at all anymore, okay?âÂ
Logan swallowed. âHeâs my best friend.âÂ
âThatâs a problem. Heâs not good for you.âÂ
He pulled on the door handle a few times. âCan I go? I get it, Iâm sorry.âÂ
âYou clearly donât get it. If you didââ
Logan pulled on the handle a few more times as J. droned on. His body was lighter, his head foggy. He could see himself tugging, tugging, could watch J. getting angrier and barely made out his mouth forming the words âstop with the fucking door.âÂ
Then he was outside.Â
peeled out of the parking lot, tired squeaking over the pavement, and Logan hurried to his dorm.Â
Virgil paused the T.V. as Logan got inside. He panted, chest heaving. Did he run? He didnât remember.Â
âLogan?â Virgil stood. âHey, whatâs going on? Whatâd he do? Did he say something?â He hurried over.Â
Logan stumbled through the story. Virgilâs glare deepened with each word, and every time Logan tried to make it better, Virgil just got angrier.Â
âStop apologizing,â he snapped. âCome here, you need to sit down.âÂ
He held out his hand, and Logan hesitated, before taking it. As Virgil led him to the bed, Logan focused on the textureâ soft and cold. The pad of Virgilâs thumb was pressed against Loganâs palm. He craved more and he wanted to rip his hand away.Â
Virgil sat Logan down, then took his back back and knelt down. âWhereâs your cube?â
Logan shook his head.Â
Virgil glared. âDid he take it?âÂ
âNo! I justâ I donât need it.âÂ
âYou clearly do. Come on, have I ever made fun of you for that?âÂ
Logan hesitated, then fumbled to get it out. Click-click-click. Click-clack-click-click.Â
âCome on, follow my breathing. Itâs okay. Weâre going to figure this out. You donât need him. Itâs alright.â
Virgil slowly got Logan back in his body. His breathing became his again, and he was reminded of where he was. He gripped the covers, rubbing his fingers over the plush.Â
âIâm sorry,â he managed. He still panted a little, his head light.Â
âSit here. Iâm gonna grab some water.âÂ
Virgil came back and sat next to him. He handed Logan the water, who gulped it down. He hadnât realized how thirsty he was. Virgil took the glass back, their fingers brushing, and set it on the desk.Â
âI donât think you should talk to him anymore.âÂ
Logan flinched.Â
âI know. I know itâs confusing. Itâs your decision. If you want to stay in contact with him for a little longer, Iâm not going to hold that against you.â
Logan looked up in surprise. âWhat? But you wantââ
âItâs not my life. I think heâs an asshole and I donât think he deserves you, but Iâm not going to make choices for you. Not these.âÂ
Loganâs eyes watered. He looked away.Â
Virgil sighed. âYou donât have to do that. I wonât make fun of you.âÂ
He buried his face in his hands as his body shook.Â
Virgil cleared his throat. âUsually when Patton cries, he wants hugs, I donât⊠um⊠what do you need?âÂ
âWhat?â Loganâs voice cracked, and Virgil repeated himself. âA blanket?âÂ
Virgil reached around and pulled the blanket around Loganâs shoulders. He whispered âOne second,â and rushed over to his bed. He dragged his weighted blanket over and settled that around Loganâs shoulders, too.Â
Logan got his tears out while Virgil refilled his water. He took it with clammy hands, wiping his nose. âThank you,â he mumbled.Â
âYou should get some sleep.âÂ
Logan nodded. He started to take off the weighted blanket, but Virgil held his hand up. âItâs alright. Keep it tonight.âÂ
Logan hesitated. âAre you sure?âÂ
âWouldnât say it if I wasnât.âÂ
He swallowed. âThank you. Iâ thank you.âÂ
Virgil smiled awkwardly. âGet some sleep.âÂ
Logan settled into bed as Virgil turned the lights off. He brought the weighted blanket up to his nose, eyelids fluttering closed. It smelled like Virgil. It was warm.Â
Logan was safe.Â
xxxÂ
Over the rest of the school year, Logan slowly worked at cutting off his parents and J. Virgil helped him, even through the hiccups. There was a moment Logan thought he could fix things, that he and J. could reconcileâ then J. gaslit him and Logan almost switched colleges. Virgil made it clear what J. was doing, and Logan hadnât spoken to J. since.Â
The two eventually agreed to get an apartment together after college. Logan got a part time job to keep his mind busy, and he barely had any free time between that and the studying, but he spent most of it with Virgil.Â
âAnd how satisfied were you with your roommate this year?â The registrar asked as Logan sat in the oversized armchair.Â
âUm, he was good. I liked my roommate.âÂ
âWould you like to continue rooming with him next year?âÂ
She barely finished speaking before Logan blurted out a âyes.â She laughed and noted it down. Logan met Virgil outside afterwards, and they headed towards the Junior parking lot.Â
âYou said yes to rooming next year, right?â Virgil asked.Â
Logan nodded. âYeah. You?âÂ
âNah, didnât feel like it.â He smiled. ââCourse I did. You canât get rid of me.âÂ
Logan laughed. âWhat do you want to eat?âÂ
âI think Iâm gonna force Janus to buy me a pizza.âÂ
He wrinkled his nose.Â
Virgil snorted. âWhat, you donât want pizza?âÂ
âThat pizzeria you like is disgusting.âÂ
âYouâre disgusting.âÂ
âCome on, we eat there too much. Canât we get something else?âÂ
Virgil pretended to think about it for a moment, before rolling his eyes. âYeah, whatever. You can pick this time. Iâll tell Janus and Patton to deal with it.âÂ
Logan grinned. They made it to the parking lot and piled into Janusâ truck. Logan told them what they were eating for dinner, and as Janus headed that way, Virgil nudged Logan with his elbow.Â
âIâm proud of you,â he murmured.Â
Patton had turned the radio on. Pop music blared through the speakers, but Logan could hear perfectly with Virgilâs mouth close to his ear. Not enough to touch. Just close.Â
Logan flushed. âFor what?âÂ
âYouâve come a long way this year.âÂ
âBut I stillââ
âShh. Not focusing on that right now. Iâm proud of you.â
Loganâs stomach filled with butterflies. Virgil pulled away with a grin, then yelled something at Janus, who flicked him off.Â
Logan settled back with a smile.Â

The bossÂŽ herding dog
You can thank insomnia for this one. Also, my need to show an aspect of Albus IÂŽm DYING to explore on the arc after For you. This is a few weeks after the whole photos fiasco. Sann has barely started to learn sign language so he will sound a bit cut(?).

CW// Slavery, dehumanization, suggestive language to taunt, manhandling, blood, angry caretaker, workplace bullying, conditioning, pet whump, mentioned ableism and negative views on stimming, mentioned past noncon and fucky victim self blaming (it was necessary kind of fucky)
It was odd for him to show the collar around. People stared, people whispered. Albus would hear them talk about him on his back all the time now. But he would keep working. As it was what his owner bought him for. He knew that. He knew it and yetâŠ
âDo you really have to go, Tony?â He asked the man putting his things inside a cardboard box. As he scratched his wrist over the leather band Sasha gave him to cover the number. He frowned at the clean desk, the walls that had been decorated with flyers ideas and visual references, the drawer with his snacks too were gone. All fitted inside the trash bag the lady had put into her cart a few moments ago.
It was a quick clean up so the box was almost empty. His analogue clock, his sketchbooks, his computer, tablet, photos of Sasha and him, of his family and even one that included him looking awkward as Sasha hugged him and Tony took the photo with his phone.
It was funny how much of a life could fit inside a box.
The man shrugged, pulling the box over the empty desk. âI hit the bossâ son. I have to, buddyâ Albus lowered his head. If he hadnâtâŠhe shook his head. There wouldnât have been a party in the first place if he hadnât. He had been good, but sometimes, it wasnât enough to be more than that. Tonyâs wide hand squeezed his shoulder âItâs not your fault, Al. I promise I hit that bastard because he deserved it. But is annoying because I didnât have a brick to build him a prettier faceâ he joked making the albino smile. The other smiled too, opening his arms âHey, Al can I hug you? Iâm gonna miss you manâ
The albino didnât need to be asked, not from him. But it felt good to know he had an option. âIm gonna miss you tooâ Albus pulled his arms around his waist and squeezed. Sinking on his chest. After a moment they pulled apart and Tony dig through his things to take out the bags of snacks to put them on his arms. âSasha will keep them on her office nowâ
âYou know sheâs never thereâ
Tony grimaced âBut she lets her office open. You can take them and come to have lunch with usâ Albus mouth opened to say Zarai wouldnât- hadnât allowed him to do that. Even if he went grocery shopping with his ID⊠âI talked with her. With miss Montenegro. She said itâs alright if you came with us. Just to notify her before you goâ Tony smiled. He had his jaw on the floor. Always helping him like that⊠he couldnât help but go for another hug.
âThank youâ the albino muttered as the man ruffled his hair.
âAnd howâs Sann? Everything going ok?â Albus scratched his neck as Tony sat on the chair. They still had time before the new guy came. Tony crossed his arms âHeâs having a hard time isnât it?â
âHeâs adaptingâŠslowlyâŠâ
They had been eating on the floor with Sann for a while now. Until they could get him to sit at the table. âIt was a full conversation to tell him to not be naked in the house...and that he could sleep in my bed alone without...earning it...â that made a vein pop out Tonyâs forehead.
âThat pervert bastardâ he said through gritted teeth.
âYeah⊠At least heâs doing very well with Sashaâs lessons. Told me about this new book heÂŽs reading in signs!â the albino smiled remembering how happy he had looked to see them come back the first few days. The book pile over his nightstand growing and growing as the days went by. For some reason calculus text books from Zaraiâs days at college and an old encyclopedia had caught his attention.
It had become normal for him to work on the laptop on the studioâs sofa and have Sann sitting next to him on the floor reading. Sometimes, he mindlessly hanged his arm only to find Sann leaning on to it. He had tried not to touch him, to pull away, but he had caught his hand and pulled it to his head. Sloppily signed it felt good when he did that.
âAnd how are you feeling?â Tony suddenly asked taking him by surprise. His face was knit with a bit of worry.
Albus forced a smile âIâll be fineâ he replied. The other hummed.
âDonât forget Jeremy is also there and half the trainees adore you. If you need helpâ Albus nodded bitterly. Lee had stopped talking to them entirely. Wouldnât listen to her tasks unless another person told her. A few people had become like that towards him now.
Because he was a box boy and would always act keeping his ownerÂŽs pleasure in mind like a loyal dog, he had heard them say. And they were right. He had been trained to have his ownerâs safety as his maximum priority. If Zarai was in danger, he wouldnât doubt a second to switch places.
Albus had to say goodbye to Tony that day to welcome days of dealing with the aftermath of what Robert had provoked.
Dealing with people letting things slip carelessly just to see him try to catch it, bossing him around, laughing when he did all the tasks, when it was ïżœïżœjust a jokeâ. Having almost a heart attack upon finding a dog plate full with dog food over his desk with a note that said âfor the bossâ puppyâ he had to throw away and clean before Zarai saw it. Going to more public zones was tricky now. He was fine with the rumors. But hearing two trainees talk about their lack of promotions and suddenly seeing him enter the room to use the copying machine went really uncomfortable when he overheard one sigh.
âAt least I donât get deals by making my pet sleep with themâ Albus hand crunched the pages on his hand and slammed them on the machine before he turned to them. Recognizing the dirty blonde who had talked as GalvĂĄn. A guy who had graduated from a top college because his parents could afford it with pocket money and worked there because his uncle made a few calls.
âMaâamÂŽs position was earnt through her own hard work and years of experience. I would be very happy to remind you, you will need either her or my signature to have your degree after four years of dropping college, so you can find any other job than just an internship someone gave youâ the guys snorted.
âWhat? Puppy boy can actually bark?â The other guy went, a black haired guy with a wiry body type and at least two heads taller than him. He vaguely reminded him of handler Harry. His primary handler. The one who supervised his whole training, and the one to make him stop circling his thumbs, wiggle his leg or tap when he was nervous. Until eventually it came back and Zarai said nothing. They started rounding him âLook at you, acting like you own the placeâ one of them reached to his neck and Albus stayed still as he uncovered the collar. Digging his nails into his hand âbut youâre just the herd dog. Looking after your Masterâs sheepsâ
âBy that logic, I guess the sheep should know theyâre below the dogâs watchâ the guy felt a chill seeing Albusâs crimson eyes gleam darkly. A grin crept to his face as he firmly put the guyÂŽs hand away. âYou were so slow at the beginning and asked me for help for something that took me two days to learn. It was me who helped you not get fired in your first week, wasnât it? The dog with no degreeâ the guy scrunched his nose. Albus felt strange as something coiled inside his stomach and a white stinging pain formed behind his eyes âYou better not stray from the herd and stay where I can see youâ
âShut upâ the guy said pathetically, amusing Albus.
âShut up what? Remember your mannersâ and Albus was bitterly reminded of training. Of the white rooms and the men who smiled when they shoved him to his knees. Who lifted his chin up and mouthed his instructions. The same he was saying now, echoing through his memories âYou will refer to your superiors with respect. And when they ask you to do something, whatever it may be, your only reply will be âyes, sirâ understood?â
The other guy laughed at his friend. Picked his ribs before turning to Albus again.
âWell, arenât you sharp? My uncleâs boxie is a dumb domestic who canât even clean a spot right. Just mindlessly begs to be forgiven all the timeâ there was something on his smirk that made Albusâ skin crawl âhe became a lot more fun when they taught him how he could be useful as a romanticâ the boyÂŽs eyes sparked with malice âHeard all the ordeal with the CEOâs pet and you, sirâ Albus froze âBut I need to know from you, sir. Do you herd him too?â He took a step closer to Albus in that same suffocating air as the handlers. Albus tried to control his breathing. It would be fine. Their conversation had gathered a few faces, as well. Quietly amusing themselves with the show âDo you make the Romantic say âyes, maâamâ to her when sheâs using him? Or do you make him say that to you only? I heard you were a romantic too, so maybe, youâre just teaching him how she likes it so he can join in? Or maybe, heâs worse than that? Heâs your pet sir?â
â
The sound of her heels made faces on the crowd watch on her direction. Many of them running away as soon as they spotted her. Giving her freeway to the middle of all the commotion.
âTake it back!â She heard Albus scream eraged, so atypical from him. It was a surprise to see Albus being held back by a trainee as another stood before him with his knuckles peeled red and covering his bloody nose. Two guys restraining him harder as they saw her. Albus spit a bit of blood as he shouted âYou know nothing about him! Take it back!â He jerked against the guy restraining him.
âMister Serra stop!â the blonde trainee said putting his all into not letting go even as he squirmed so violently. Kicks in the air just to get an inch closer.
âNO! He has no right to say that about him! He doesnât know shit about us! None of you do!â He screamed at the top of his lungs âLet- ngh, Let me go Jeremy!â He said through gritted teeth. âI need to knock some sense up that stupid head of-â
âHear this out, the dog wanting to explain to me about a cocksleeve!â He cut him, just making Albus fight harder.
âEnough!â She hollered coming to his line of sight. Freezing them completely. Some people had taken out their cameras and she snatched one phone out of their hands. âWhat is this? A high school quarrel? Youâre adults in the working force, gentlemenâ she let it sink, seeing how Albus went stiff and trembled since the moment he spotted her. Zarai turned her head to the trainee with the bloody nose âWe wont send some little piece of paper for your parents to sign, you go straight outâ Albus eyebrows knit in horror stopping to struggle.
âNo, please wait, maâamâ he whispered shakily as Jeremy balanced letting him go.
âI dont even need to know who started. youâre fired. Get your stuff out nowâ she said pointing to the widened eyed trainee as Albus suddenly collapsed on the floor. âAll of you better erase those videos right now unless you are sure you can face the consequences.â She growled loud enough for the crowd to let a thick quiet settle. She knelt in front of Albus and he flinched wildly when she approached her fingers to his neck.
âPl-Please, please no. Im, I, Im sorry, please! he, he said-â he covered the collar with his hands. Trying to keep her from taking it away.
âI dont care what he saidâ she terminated before she took a napkin Jeremy handed her âIm not gonna take it away, are you ok? You took quite the hit thereâ he nodded slowly, somewhat relieved but not taking away his hand from his neck just yet. Albus kept looking at the ground as she wiped away some of the blood off his mouth. He saw her stand and talk again to the half dispersed crowd. âMost of you donât know me very well yet. But have clear that I do not take lightly when my property is damaged and much less when the most capable member of my team has to endure your childish behaviorâ Albus head sank slowly as she kept talking. Nodding when Jeremy asked if he was alright and helped him up âI thought better of you. But you have proven to me not worthy of that right. Iâve had enough of this situationâ she eyed every single frowned face, every guilty and compliant. âIf I hear, or see, something like this happens again, or I find any of you trying to start a fight or bullying others, I will have them personally seen outside the building after signing their resignation letter and put you on the blacklist of candidates myself. Are we clear?â
âBut what about-â
âAre we clear, Miss Lee?â Zarai directed to the black haired girl among the crowd. She stared at the ground while she nodded âWhoever refuses to accept this can come to my office to explain and sign their resignation. Thats all. Disperseâ
She watched them walk away, before she turned to Albus âFollow meâ
The albinoÂŽs heart leapt before he walked after her with his head down. His heart drummed at each step and seemed to halt to a stop when she opened the door for him. Albus stared into her eyes, but as many other times, she was unreadable when she cocked her head.
Clenching his jaw, he stepped inside and heard the door close behind him.
He had fucked up.
He had completely broken her trust in him and he would finally be punished.
What was he thinking? Mistakes werenÂŽt allowed.
Zarai walked past him to a small cabinet behind her desk, but Albus had his eyes locked in the ground. Not wanting to see what exactly she would use to punish him until she was on it.
âOn the deskâ she ordered still rumminating through a metallic box. The boy breathed in deep before walking to her desk with shaky legs. The uncertainty of what would come just made his heart race faster. He sat on it obediently anyways.
âM-MaÂŽam, IÂŽm so sorryâŠâ he started, fear taking the worst out of him, his hands got damped in sweat.
âI know you areâ she replied calmly before pulling his chin up with soft fingers âLift your head, hunâ Without meaning to, he flinched wildly at the sight of blurry fingers over him. Zarai fished his jaw and pressed slightly on each side, to turn his head up âHey, hey, donÂŽt move. I know it hurts but I need you to stay still so I can put it onâ Â Zarai then poked his cheek with something cold, making him blink at the refreshing sensation on his skin. âDoesnÂŽt hurt, right?â
He blinked confused at her, âL-Lidocain?â he said in the smallest voice she had ever heard.
âUh-huhâ she kept rubbing the gel over his bruising cheek. Completely frozen over the desk as she cleaned his busted lip. After a moment she closed the lid of the gel and put it back on the metallic box. He now recognized it as a first aid kit. After she put a bandaid she looked down to throw the package in the trash âYou can come down now. HowÂŽs it?â
It took the boy a moment to reply, slipping off the wood desk with ease âBetterâŠThank you, MaÂŽamâ
She hummed as she put the box away, sitting on her chair as the boy stood in front of her desk utterly transfixed in her calmness.
Albus kept eyeing her furtively. Worry visible as he kept rounding his thumbs. She took notice of it quickly and stopped herself from checking her computer to sigh. âTell meâ
âIm sorry for the trouble maâamâ
The woman lifted her eyes.
âNo, Im sorry. I should have done this sooner, dont worry about itâ she turned on her chair to face him. Lips parting and biting it for a second âYou have been working for me for six months, Albus. You know better than thisâ the way he sank on his shoulders confirmed âI dont wanna know what they said because your reaction was probably justified. I trust you in that. But you canât do this again, yes?â
âYes, maâamâ he kept quiet for a minute before he dared speak up again âMaâam?â he tried âWhy wont you punish me?â She lifted an eyebrow.
âWould you want me to?â
âN-No⊠I mean- no, but-â the boy stammered, squeezing his hands tight as he lowered his head submissively ââŠBut I wonÂŽt complain if you think I deserve itâ
âThatÂŽs not going to happen. You did nothing that required punishment, Albusâ she sighed.
âBut I startedâŠI punched him firstâ he admitted.
âWellâŠthatâs certainly surprisingâ she found herself wondering how he had reached his face with his small height âBut no. You wonât be punished for it. The guy was also getting on my nerves with that sly mouth. So maybe I should thank youâ
The albino sneaked a little smile âThenâŠthen will you keep me? Will I be able to keep working?â Zarai sighed and nodded. The albino looked shaken, capable of keeping his composure, as he went back to work later. She knew by just watching him automatically doing his chores and cleaning up when it was time to go with a blank face.
The elevator was quiet and the ride home even more. Zarai wasnât exactly a feeler. But she knew the way his eyes were fixed on the floor as he waited for her to enter the house was empty. She gave him a headpat then. No words as she didnt even know what to say to him that would cheer him up. But still, he leaned on to it.
âThank you, maâamâ he said when she took away her hand to open the door.
âEverything will be ok yeah?â she smiled at him before they entered the house. The boy trailing after her feeling a small blush on his cheeks. He could hear Cloudeâs loud voice and smelled something very sweet. French toasts?
Sann came trotting to meet them. Wearing one of Cloudeâs shirts that were too big for him and basketball shorts. He bowed to Zarai who gave him a headpat too and a smile before walking to the kitchen to greet Cloude.
âFrench toasts arent breakfast?â She teased.
âTime is a social construction. Its 10 am somewhereâ Cloude thought french toasts were for breakfast too, but Sann had never tried them and frankly possibly neither Albus. Prepared them? Yeah for training surely. Eat them? Not so sure âJust a lil something after a hard dayâ he said to her before she gave him a kiss on the cheek.
The freckled boy smiled wide before he spotted the bruise on his cheek.
âWhat happened?â He signed worry flooding his face as Albus shifted uncomfortably. Taking off his leather band as he remembered what the other guy had said. Anger threatening to come back. Sann noticed his knuckles were bruised too. âHurts?â
âNothing importantâ Albus shrugged. Looking away âDont worry, it was just a scratch. but it looks ugly becauseâŠalbinos bruise easilyâŠâ he said every word slower than the last, as his bitterness leaked through his words. Waiting for him to nod, to sign yes, for anything but him softly soothing his swollen knuckles.
âEasy or not, bruises still hurtâ he signed as an affirmation, eyes losing focus to wonder back on memories. Sann looked up again before stroking his healthy cheek. âWont ask how. Instead, Want some ice?â Sann smiled after signing. Just before noticing a tear rolled down Albusâs cheek. Then he frantically started to round his chest as an apology.
The albino shook his head not able to shake the smile off his face for the rest of the night. It was even more difficult as Sann finally sat on the border of the chair. Next to him. To eat french toasts for the first time and had Cloude laughing at their reaction. Even more as, deep into the night, he stroke Sannâs hair while sitting next to him reading the space part of the encyclopedia. Sometimes asking what a word meant and pouting when he didnt know. Taking out the dictionary and reading the meaning together.
The futon on his back didnât feel so hard suddenly. Even if he managed to keep himself awake way after Sann left to sleep, he covered his eyes. After a moment, he passed his fingers around the leather collar on his neck. Loosened up to sleep like always. Still there. The physical permission to keep having all that. A cozy place to sleep, a job, friends as well as the insults and degradation.
What deemed him her property.
He had her words stuck in his mind all day. His MaÂŽam had made something clear that day but it didnÂŽt make him feel better at all. It was justâŠso exhaustingly confusing. He didnÂŽt understand how to be good for her, how to keep the punishments away. By some lucky strike he had managed to get this far without fucking up, but this was an strike and he knew better by now to think she would wait for a third to act.
Albus let out his breath as he covered his eyes with his hand. Feeling the warmth of his swollen fingers, he opened his eyest to stare at the knuckles with bandaids Sann insisted in putting after some ice and smiled before rolling over to face the door, covering his head with his arm like an instinct the handlers didnât put in him, and closed his eyes to sleep.
For a moment, Albus swore to himself he would figure out his owner as he went by, even more carefully now. It would be ok. As long as he had that one person by his side, it would be enough.

New girl (Twilight au Witch x Edward) Part 4
WARNING: If this has typos or seems rushed I am sorry
Hope you enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Even days after that Edward would come and talk to me more, not at school but when I would come over to do some homework or just hang out with them. I even woke up from a short nap to my head laying on his shoulder. I freaked out then and scooted a little bit away. Which just made him laugh at me.
Pretty soon, though I donât know how Bella started to come over, I instantly thought they were going to be a couple so I tried to stay a bit away from them to give them some room. Edward doesnât seem like that and would come to sit by me and Asher as we chatted. When he would do that, I tried not to pay attention to the little glares that Bella would send my way.
Asher and I would get kidnapped by Alice to go shopping cause our âFashion senseâ didnât seem to be good in her eyes. We never bought much when she would take us but still. She would look so accomplished that we would buy some of the clothes that she would point out for us.
We had just gotten back from one such trip that they invited me and Bella to play baseball with them. Noting the way Bella seemed to glare a little at me, which got Jasper to stare at her confused. I declined but said I would come over to visit when they are done playing.
Alice frowned at me but then walked away with her family. I headed home to help my dad make some dinner and then wash up as he went to his study to write more of his story. He was a famous writer but he wrote under a different name.
âWhat to do?â I said, to myself as I entered my room, grabbing out my sketchbook and starting to draw a portrait of Edward, paying extra focus on his eyes and cute smirk. He always had that cute smirk when he thought he beat Alice in a match or when I came up with a good argument.
Shading his hair was the last thing I smiled even though my chest started to hurt a little. Well, at least Bella and Edward match each other. I think they would be a cute couple. I doubt I would be attractive enough to get anyoneâs attention. A flash of light from my window had me lifting my head from my drawing to see that they were back.
That was fast I thought, getting up and heading for the door.
I reached their house to see everyone kind of frantic. âWhatâs wrong?â I asked, concerned to see Bella pale, giving her a once-over I saw that she wasnât hurt so I turned to Alice who stopped when she heard me. âWe have to go.â She said, glancing at Edward before disappearing into the house. âGo where?â I asked, turning to Edward this time, by Bella.
âWe met a couple of vampires as we were playing and they seem to think Bella was a snack so we got defensive and they left but this one guy. He has it in his mind that it would be fun to go after Bella so we have to leave until we can get him handled.â He explained as he went inside with me and Bella following him.
We passed Emmett and Rosalie who were wearing Bella's coat. Must be to lead him in a different direction. âRight.â âWas it just one?â He shook his head. âThere were three, a woman and two males.â I nodded my head as he went back to trying to figure out how to help Bella.
Bella stood there scared while I leaned against the counter in the garage, trying to think of how to help. Erasing their minds would solve it pretty easily but then they would attack someone else, which means their death is the best option despite how it seems.
But how would they be able to kill them if they donât want to be caught? As my mind flew around with ideas I didnât notice Edward lean against the counter right next to me, just staring at me. His reaction must have done something cause when I glanced up I jumped, seeing them all looking at me and Edward.
âWhat?â I asked, confused. âYou were having many ideas in your head and a couple of them were interesting. Like how would you catch someone who doesnât want to be caught?â
âYou bait them.â
âWith what?â
At that, I smiled, âWith something that could get their attention, a person.â He went to open his mouth when I finished. âWho is bleeding.â That made everyone freeze. âWhat?!â Esmeâs voice rang out while it was still silent. I laughed and walked over to her. âIt will be ok Esme. It will work and it will at least even the odd with you guys and if they see one of their own killed they aren't likely to try to attack Bella or you guys.â I could see she was trying to see if it would work when Aliceâs voice chimed in. âIt would work.â
Emmett laughed and walked over to us along with Jasper and Carlisle. âHow are we doing this then?â He grinned while Jasper simply stared at me, seeming to see if I was afraid and when he saw that I wasnât, he grew more confused. âI can go to where you guys just were and you guys can stand a good distance so they donât see you and when I give myself a little cut that will draw their attention on me only and then when they are close you get them,â I explained as the others came over.
âIt will be too dangerous for you.â Shaking my head at Esme I smiled. âI will be fine Esme, I promise, and the faster they are taken care of the more Bella can breathe.â I finished, nodding to Bella who was still pale. Esme and Alice went over to her to console her.
âShe is right you know,â Carlisle said, not liking the plan whatsoever. I smiled at him, making him relax a little. âIt will be fine, the faster we do this the faster you can worry about the others another day.â Jasper still looked confused but seemed to agree with me. Turning to Emmett I patted his shoulder. âSound like a good plan right?â He nodded with a grin even though the others growled at him.
âOk, letâs do it.â
Emmett and I walked out of the garage with the others following us, I was about to ask him to take me there when someone picked me up and held me there. Instantly grabbing the person who picked me up I laughed a little seeing Edward look concerned for me. âIâll carry you there.â I saluted at him with a grin. âFine by me.â
And then they took off, we reached this big field and stood there for a moment. When Edward didnât put me down I started to kick my feet. And he still stood there, looking like he was fighting with himself.
Alright then.
I swung my leg over my head and backflipped out of his arms. They were still silent as I just smiled at them. âYou were taking forever.â I joked, walking a good distance, before stopping and pulled a small pocket knife out of my pocket. I pulled out the little knife and went to poke my hand when a cold hand grabbed my wrist.
Looking at who it was, I just stared at Edward confused. Doesnât he want to get this over with so Bella can calm down? âI do but you donât have to hurt yourself.â Aw, he cares. Gently pulling my hand out of his hold I smiled at him. âIâll be fine, I have you and the others here to protect me right?â He nodded, and before he could say anything, Emmett came over and pulled him away a good few yards away to hide in the shadows, all while grinning.
Well, here goes nothing. Turning around I pressed the knife into my hand until a small stream of blood slowly went down my hand, dropping on the ground. It took only a few minutes before a blonde-haired person, who wasnât wearing a shirt but a jacket, was in front of me, only looking at my bleeding hand.
âWhat are you doing out here hurt?â He asked, with a smirk. Taking a step closer to me but I just smiled and cradled my hand to my chest. âI fell, dumb right?â his focus was only on me seeing how Edward and the others were able to get right behind him and before he knew it Emmett grabbed him.
He started to thrash around but his struggle was cut short with Jasper jerking his head off. Emmett and Jasper started to dismember him and light him on fire when we saw a flicker of redheadâs hair leave the trees. Seems like it worked. I took a couple of steps back and then let energy flow down my arm to my hand and watched it heal. It closed when a hand grabbed my wrist again, startling me.
âSorry.â It was just Edward again, pressing my other hand over my heart I took a few deep breaths to calm down my heart and then looked up at him confused. âDo you just enjoy scaring me?â He just smirked before dropping my wrist and picked me up again, cradling me against his chest. âNo, but you always have interesting reactions when it comes to me.â
I just rolled my eyes, before wrapping my arms around his shoulders and burying my head against his cold neck. It was funny how he seemed to have a calming effect on me, it made me feel safe like nothing could hurt me. It felt nice as we just stood there in comfortable silence.
Someone cleared their throat, making me lift my head to see Emmett smirking along with Carlisle. Jasper just had a straight face on but he must have felt that we were both comfortable and seemed to relax a little. âAre we heading home?â I nodded, reaching up and pressing myself closer to Edward as he turned and started to run.
The wind felt nice against my face and I kept a smile on my face the whole time, not seeing the smirks the others were sending Edward who growled softly. Before we reached the house I leaned a bit away from Edward, to show Bella that I wasnât just pressing against him. Once we got into view, Bella instantly ran to us and I quickly hopped down again to give them their space. Donât want to get in their way.
âHow did it go?â
I entered the house not hearing anymore and going to sit between Alice and Asher who both looked relieved to see me. âI was so worried about you.â He said, wrapping his arm around my shoulders and hugging me to him. He always acted like a brother. âI was fine. Everyone was with me so I wasnât really in any danger.â I laughed, pulling away and relaxing on the couch as Alice got to talking about the upcoming test in our History class.
Soon Edward and Bella came in with the others. Judging by how close Bella was sticking to Edward itâs clear to see that they are together. I quickly ignored the pain I felt in my chest and focused only on what Alice and Asher were talking about. I came back in at the wrong time cause they started talking about crop tops being cute. âDonât you agree Luna?â Alice said as they both turned to me.
âWell, it can be cute if you have the perfect bottoms.â
âSee? She agrees.â Alice grinned, as she reached over and hugged me tight to her. Shocking everyone when she tried to squeeze me. I laughed at their expressions and hugged her back. She let me go after a bit when Bella was saying she better get home, as she said this, she only looked at Edward.
He seemed to be in his head cause it took her shaking him to get him to turn to her. âTake me home?â Bella asked, batting her eyes at him. âOk.â They turned to leave and she once again wrapped her arms around his.
Lucky.
The instant the thought appeared in my head, my heart stopped, seeing him freeze for a second. I made my mind go blank and just continued to chat with Alice and Asher. It was only when they left that I got up and stretched. âI better be getting home.â I sighed as I heard a pop from my back.
Asher got up and walked me to the door. âWant me to walk you home?â How sweet of him. I ruffled his hair, âNo, itâs fine.â âOk.â I waved goodbye to the others and headed home.
My dad was sitting in the living room, reading when I walked through the door. âHow was visiting the Cullens?â He raised his eyebrows at me. Oh, give me a break. âIt was nice, I helped them take care of a problem.â He looked concerned but then nodded his head and went back to his book. âNight dad!â Heading to the stairs I made it to the top before he yelled. âNight honey! Iâll ask tomorrow about which one you like!â âDAD!â I yelled, slamming my door, deafening his laughter.
I took off my shoes and changed for bed before burying myself in my blankets. I turned the radio on so I could listen to music as I fell asleep. The next morning I could have sworn I felt a cool hand run across my cheek, but I was probably just dreaming. Right?
Chapter 7 : Je suis le roi, le roi des cons
âAre ya sure itâs here?â
âYes I am. I saw the name of this supermarket and thereâs no one else around.âÂ
Finan sighs annoyingly, leaning back in the driverâs seat, his fingers drumming impatiently on the gear level. They have been waiting in the back parking of the Carrefour for three hours now, looking for the woman they are suspecting knows Osferth. They arrived in France two days ago, and Victoria couldnât help the surprised look she gave to Finan when she realised how good he was speaking french.
âFrench women find the accent sexy when I speak french and others find speaking french hot.â He explained after they asked their way to a woman who gave him a gracious smile after.Â
âOh, a real benefit then.â She commented, pretending to be impressed, even if she might be part of the other women.
Finan grinned broadly. âIndeed.â
Another thing that this time didnât make her laugh, was Finanâs skills when it comes to stealing a car. She never felt more nervous than when he asked her to check if no one was coming while he was trying to start the car.Â
âMaybe she doesnât work today.â He mumbles under his breath but Vicky ignores him when she spots a woman coming out of the back door.Â
âOh Christ, I think itâs her.â She exclaims, taping Finanâs arm to have him look.Â
The woman walks away from the door, looking at her phone while searching something in her bag. âAlright, I'm goin', stay in the car.â He says, opening the door as Vicky rolls her eyes, tired of always having to wait in the car.Â
âBonne chance!â She tells him with her best french accent, looking forward to how he'll convince the woman to tell them where Osferth is. (Good luck!)
Finan rolls his eyes and closes the door. She immediately opens the window to try to hear something, even if she doubts being able to understand half of the conversation, but at least their tones would give her a clue on how well it's going.Â
âExcusez-moi de vous dĂ©ranger!â He calls the woman and she immediately looks up to him with furrowed eyebrows. (Sorry to bother you!)
Victoria leans forward, trying to see the woman's expression as Finan and her talk. She seems on her guard, looking around and her hand playing with her car's keys. She shakes her head and starts to walk away but Finan catches her back, grabbing her arm. Doubting he will succeed with how reluctant the woman is, she opens the car and joins them, taking her sketchbook with her. When he notices her approaching, the Irishman lets go of her arm while she studies Victoria with the same distrust that she has for Finan.Â
âShe says she doesn't know him.â He grumbles, crossing his arms over his chest.Â
âI don't know who the hell you are talking about.â She confirms with a light French accent, though she keeps staring at Vicky awkwardly.Â
Victoria opens her sketchbook to a page where she drew Osferth and her on the next one. She gives her the work and her eyes widen. âYou must know him, because he does know you.â She says in a soft but nonetheless determined tone.Â
The woman hesitates, looking between the two strangers and then back to the drawing. âHow did you do that?â She asks Vicky.Â
âI've been dreaming of him, just like he probably does dream of me, right?â She tilts her head and at how the woman bites her lip, she knows she's right. Through her dreams she has learned that Osferth and she are close and that he told her his secret. Finan keeps thinking it was risky to trust the woman, but Vicky is confident.Â
âAre you like him?â She asks carefully, Vicky and Finan nodding immediately. âWhat do you want from him?â
Vicky glances at Finan for some sort of approval before answering. âHe may be in danger, we need to talk to him.â
She runs her hand through her hair before giving back her sketchbook to Vicky, her expression conflicted between mistrust and worry. But she eventually sighs and accepts. âAlright, follow my car.â
Victoria huffs in relief while Finan mutters something in Gaelic. She stretches out her hand toward the woman with a kind smile. âI'm Victoria, and this is Finan.â
âSophie.â She replies before they separate to join their respective cars.Â
Vicky can't help but smile widely once they are on the road, excited by the idea of meeting others like her. She dares to hope that this time, no one will die as when she met Finan. The thought amuses her and she turns to him to remind him of it, but she changes her mind when she notices how tensed his jaw is, his thumb tapping the steering wheel frantically. He is nervous again, like he has been since they arrived in France. He hasn't seen his friends for centuries and she supposes that he fears their rejection. Though she hopes that her presence could ease possible tensions.Â
When they stop at a red light, Victoria reaches for his forearm, her palm grazing over it until her thumb can rub the back of his hand. He turns his head to her and she didn't expect his intense dark gaze to leave her breathless. However she doesn't look away and gives him the most reassuring smile she is able to make, her fingers squeezing his wrist.Â
âIt's going to be alright.âÂ
His features seem to ease at her words and he let go of his grip on the steering wheel to shift his hand and grab hers, but before he can, the light is green again and a car behind urges them to move. Victoria removes her hand, looking away as she becomes aware of the heat in her cheeks.Â
They don't talk for the rest of the way. They quickly are driving through the countryside, still following Sophie close, and Vicky finds that it isnât so different from England. After twenty minutes, she takes a small dirt road that makes the car tremble. They enter a thick pine forest and she has to hold the handle above the windowâs door while the car struggles in the mud. But finally they reach a small clearing, an old stoned house standing in the middle of it. Sophie stops her car while a man, alarmed by the engine noises walks out of the house. The french joins the blond man and exchanges a few words that confuse him. Victoria gets out of the car and who she now recognizes perfectly as Osferth looks at her with wide eyes, but it's nothing compared to how his mouth drops when the driver door slams and he stares at Finan appearing behind her.Â
âFinan?â Osferth calls him, disbelieving.Â
The Irish warrior stops a few steps in front of Vicky, a tight and shy smile on his face, his eyes not daring to meet his friend's one. âHi Baby Monk.â He greets him, waving his hand.Â
Osferth huffs a laugh before crossing the gap between them until he takes him in a strong embrace, letting Finan frozen by surprise for a second. He wraps his arms around his friend's shoulders, holding him tightly and Vicky can't help the way her heart melts at the scene.Â
âYou are alive.â Osferth breathes, his hands holding Finan.Â
Finan chuckles. âI can hardly die, Osferth.â
The blond man opens his mouth, but finally gives him an awkward smile. Then, he turns to Victoria, studying her intently with his clear eyes. âHow did you find me?â
Finan glances at Vicky, giving her a grin before looking back at his friend. âThrough Victoria's dreams. She is just like us.â
Osferth makes another huff and softly smiles at her, which she gives another huff. âI thought it wasn't real.â He blinks a few times before motioning and designating the house. âCome, come inside.â
Osferth leads them inside, and Vicky can't help but whisper 'I told you' to Finan before they pass the front door. He rolls his eyes, but keeps smiling, so she squeezes his arm gently before taking place at the table Osferth points at. Sophie brings them glasses of water and finally sits next to Osferth, quite close in Vicky's opinion.Â
The former monk, if she believes what Finan told her about him, leans forward, his hands joined upon the table. âSo, how did you two meet?â
Vicky puts down her glass. âWell, Finan followed his dreams, just like we did for you. One day he knocked at my door and killed himself in my flat.â
She can feel Finan offended glare at how she foretold their meeting. âThat's a really short summary.â He comments, pointing a finger at her but speaking at their hosts' attention.
Vicky waves her hand. âThe most important lines.âÂ
Osferth and Sophie only nod slowly, the story sounding really strange in just a few words. Though, the blond shakes his head and turns to Vicky with a hint of curiosity making him narrow his eyes. âBut how long have you been immortal? We've traveled all around the world and we have never found someone else.â
Vicky hesitates, so much happened in so little time to her that she isn't sure anymore. âHum⊠About two months.â
âOh⊠So you died in the car accident?â Osferth raises his eyebrows until she nods in agreement. âAnd, why are you here?â He asks, this time looking at both of them alternately.Â
Vicky glances at Finan, his smile now gone, and clear her throat. âMaybe you've seen it, but we've been attacked.âÂ
âWe don't know who they are but they were searchin' for Victoria, and they knew that she is immortal even if she talked about it to no one.â Finan explains, his hand moving with the glass still in it.
Sophie gives a sort of gasp and she grabs Osferth's hand. âYou think they could search for us too?â The monk frowns.
Finan shakes his head and presses his index on the table. âI don't know, but if they've found her, they can find y'all too. You need to warn Uhtred and Sihtric, to tell them to be careful.âÂ
âI can't warn them.â Osferth answers after a heart beat.
This time, it's Finan who frowns, letting go of the glass. âWhat?â He leans forward after a blink. âNo, you must know where they-â
âI can't warn them, Finan.â He cuts across him. âBecause Sihtric is gone and Uhtred⊠Uhtred is dead.â
The sudden silence is thick as Victoria falls breathless at Osferth's words. She can't believe what he said and she has to keep herself from asking him to repeat it. But the monk's tight expression, his jaw twitching and lips pinching, is enough to prove her that she heard him well.Â
âWhat? How's that possible?â Finan asks, confused.
âWe don't know, but it did happen.â Osferth answers, looking down.
âWhen?â
He opens his mouth, searching words and Sophie holds his hand tighter but still tenderly. âIt was during the Second World War. We were going to save prisoners from German soldiers. We were just the three of us, but Uhtred was determined and sure it would go as we planned. But it was a trap, there were no prisoners. So we ran away, they were shooting at us and we got separated. It took me two hours to find Sihtric. We searched for Uhtred and when we found him, he still hadn't come back.âÂ
He makes a pause, taking a deep breath while tears roll down his cheeks, a reflection of those on Finan's face. But when Osferth struggles to speak through the deep sadness that his friend's loss provoked, Finan on the other hand still can't believe it, eyes wide and not even staring at the monk anymore. As Vicky blinks, she realises her eyes are wet too, of shock and compassion for her friend.
Osferth swallows before continuing his story. âWe waited so long, under the rain, utterly wet and freezing like hell. But he never came back.â He wipes his tears with his sleeve.Â
âSihtric?â Finan asks under his breath.Â
The monk sniffs and sighs regretfully. âWe tried to stay together, but he was more and more distant. One day he just⊠He just left without a word.â
Finan nods but Victoria doubts he has accepted the information. He stands up, his hand flat on the table and his face dark, the chair squeaking as he does so. He is about to say something, the three others staring at him, but he just closes his mouth and leaves the house.Â
âI'm so sorry.â Vicky stammers, torn apart between Finan's pain that affects her more than she expected and the shock of the revelation. She rises from her chair as well, her hand waving toward the door. âI should go with him, see if he's fine.â
Sophie walks around the table and rubs her arm in a kind attempt. âSure, go.â
When she is outside, Victoria perceives Finan crouched, gripping his hair fiercely, his back to her. She steps carefully toward him but he doesn't react until she runs her hand between his shoulder blades.
âI'm such an idiot.â He whispers barely audibly before he stands up, towering one head over Victoria of one head. She bites her lip at how much hatred is burning in his eyes, but the anger is only towards himself. âI'm a fuckin' idiot!â He shouts, gripping his shirt over his chest. âIf I wasn't so stubborn. If I had searched for them before, maybe it wouldn't have happened, maybe I could have helped, maybe-âÂ
âFinan that's enough.â She orders him, clasping her palms over his cheeks to force him to look at her. âRewriting the past is useless, it will change nothing.â
âThey were my brothers and I abandoned them.â He mutters guiltily.Â
She brushes back the hair falling over his forehead, resting her hand then on the back of his neck. âYou're not responsible for what happened.â
He lets out some sort of strangled sob before leaning down, seeking the comfort of her embrace and she doesn't reject him. For the second time in a few days, she lets him cry on her shoulder, holding him tight. Her heart squeezes, thinking about the new wound Uhtred's loss is creating in the middle of the Irishman's heart already full of scars. He spoke to her of his friend and his adventures with so much pride and joy, describing the strong bond between them. She can only imagine the pain through the one she would feel if she learned Rebecca's death.
When he has calmed down, after long minutes, she stays with him while he smokes a cigarette, sitting on the floor, back against the car. âIt doesn't make sense.â He mutters, smoke escaping his mouth.Â
Vicky glances at him. âMaybe we are just an anomaly?â She says, not really having thought about it before asking. âAnd our death has just been programmed in the wrong time.â
Finan huffs, closing his red and swollen eyes before raising his face to the now darkening sky. âThat's crazy.â
âAs if something hasn't been so far.â She shrugs before resting her head against his shoulder, closing her eyelids as well and remaining focused on Finan's slow breath.
âThank ya.â He whispers, barely audible as the words mixed with his exhale.Â
âFor what?âÂ
âBein' here.â
Episode 115 Widofjord Highlights
Iâm late for a livewatch but also consider! I am late for the monday youtube release. Time to get those crumbs though!
20:20 Fjord asks Caleb for some paper, âjust a scrapâ. Caleb happily hands over â5 or 6 complete pieces of paper, whatever you need.â Jester reminds the disaster casters that Calebs paper is expensive (and rare, and wow someone had to remind Caleb that his paper is precious? Excuse me?) and hands over her sketchbook instead. Fjord is happy to take the sketchbook and insists Caleb keep his paper in case Dagen screws up the map. At about 20:45 Caleb/Liam makes a wincing face and tilts his head kind of sassy, like âwell fine my paper isnât good enough for youâ.
23:00 Caleb starts the conversation about Vess being dead and the consequences. At first he seems to be talking to Fjord about âkeeping an eye outâ, likely because Fjord can cast see invisibility and see scrying eyes. At the 25âČ mark Fjord asks what they should do about Vess, right after Veth was talking, but he is turned to and directs the question to Caleb. Caleb posits some short term solutions and Fjord redirects back to ask âsheâs in your amber, right?â
Caleb: Yes
Fjord: If someone tried to scry, like we did on Molly, would they just see your necklace?
Caleb: Well-
Cut to them trying to remember how scry works, if a dead person can be scried on.
Fjord: Should I give you your pendant back?
Fjord: As long as no one can track the item inside your necklace, again, like for the crystal clove.
Caleb: That was a whole other thing entirely, I believe.
The group gets distracted by the term âcrystal cloveâ but Travis keeps looking over to Liam- I think he/Fjord is still really bothered that the crystal was tracked in the pendant and, dare I say it, I want him to confront Caleb about it. Because Travis seemed pretty upset and referred to it as âfalse advertisingâ during talks machina iirc. Give me the drama, bois. But Liam/Caleb diverts and calls out to Dagen, ending the rp moment.
52:28 Caleb opts to have Frumpkin keep Fjord company on first watch.Â
54:09 Fjord notices the scrying orb and calls out to wake Caleb up. They proceed to have a painfully awkward not-conversation conversation while they panic because they didnât come up with a plan for if Fjord saw anything and neither remember that itâs probably a scrying orb.
Fjord: Weâre making good time heading to the most eastern destination. *gestures toward the orb with his head*
Caleb: We could certainly go further. *looks that way and sees nothing* We could probably go farther.
Fjord: Yep, yep. Well thatâs it!
Caleb: I donât think I can go to sleep now, Fjord.
Fjord: Yes, yes...
Fjord proceeds to threaten whoever is scrying, and Matt clarifies whether he is attuned to the necklace. Travis admits that he swapped out the ring of fire resistance for the call-blocking pendant. Liam says that someday, someone will inherit that ring and it will be really meaningful, clearly trying to help Travis save face but Travis seems to kind of embrace his impulse purchases.
58:43
Fjord: *moves back over to Caleb* There was another scrying. Sphere. Eye. Someone is watching.
Caleb, who is making eye contact with Fjord: Great. Take your pick on who wants us dead.
Fjord: The Empire? The Dynasty? Molly?
Caleb: *scoffs, smiles at Fjord* My money is on the Tiefling.
Fjord: Our scent, he said.
Caleb: ... scent. Our blood?
Fjord: *nods and smiles* Our blood. Do you have any idea how to counteract that? Blood magic?
Caleb: If itâs that, I do not. Gods, itâs cold.
Fjord: ... It is...
Liam looked like he was going to say something else, but Travis says he will keep an eye out and we cut to the next watch.
1:04:54 Caleb uses control flame to make the bonfire flare.
Fjord: Awesome! *basks in the warmth*
1:08:06 Dagen made everyone breakfast and is ribbing them about being noobs to the cold.
Fjord: We learned a lesson, yes? Hard lesson learned. All the wiser for it? Seasoned travelers.
Caleb: So much character built last night.
Fjord: So much. Bushels of character.
1:15:32 At the distraction pillar-
Fjord: Caleb you couldnât read any of these markings, right? Thatâs not a language, or-
Caleb: I assume I wouldâve been able to if itâs by sight.
Jester: You donât have to cast anything anymore, you can just read things?
Fjord: *has no reason to have this confidence* Yep!
Caleb: Well I mean, I have done a lot of stuff for a long time.
Jester: How many languages do you speak?
Caleb: Four.
Beau: I can read five! I know more languages than you!
Jester: Beau youâre so smart-
Fjord: Okay, itâs not a competition >:(
Sorry, but Fjord, keep it in your pants. Jeez. Youâre heart eyes are so loud rn.
Also I want to point out that Travis accurately called that trying to pull the gem out kills you. Smart dude. Still embarrassingly soft for Caleb.
1:20:34
Travis: This is literally the stupidest thing we could be doing. We should just keep going, right?
Liam: This pivoted the entire campaign one, what we are fucking with right now.
Travis: Yeup! We should just go.
Liam: The necromancy thing.
Travis: Letâs keep going.
... Liam: I am going to use telekinesis to pull the gem out.
Travis: And there goes our wizard.
A few minutes and 52 points of damage later.
Travis/Fjord/??: How far is your telekinesis range?
Liam: Exactly 60 feet!
Travis: Yeah yeah just kind of like *puts hand out*
Jester: Heal him!
Travis: Nah heâs fine!
Caleb: No you need to heal me!
Travis: Turn into a T-Rex!
1:27:03, literally a few seconds after the T-Rex comment
Jester: I donât have cure wounds >_>
Fjord: I will, at 5th level, cast cure wounds on Caleb.
Laura: aww thatâs so sweet :)
Fjord: 29 points of healing :)
1:30:17 Caleb gets shit kicked by the pillar again and starts peeling off his coat, looks like death, and Travis is like âits a point of pride!â Caleb rolls up his sleeves. Travis says âLETS GO!â Caleb gets mad at telekinesis and uses Catâs Ire, still fails. Throws a snowball. Travis says it his the ground and rolls and Liam is like âmakes it maybe halfway thereâ
1:35:23 Jester paints âBIG EMERALD HEREâ with an arrow pointing down
Caleb Neutral... Good? Ok?: Oh thatâs murder! *big smile* Thatâs going to bring people right to that!
Jester, Chaotic Neutral: They should be smarter than that :)
Fjord, Lawful Good: Jester, I donât know, that seems like a bit much...
Cad: If I had seen that I wouldnât have touched it.
Jester: Right?
Fjord: I wouldâve (we know)
Caleb: Thatâs like a cave that says âFree Cupcakesâ
Jester: Oh, well, when you say it like that...
Fjord: See? Yeah. *nods at Caleb*
Caleb: *smiles and points at Fjord*
Fjord: It all depends.
Caleb: You just have to attack it from the right angle sometimes.
Fjord: *smiles at Caleb*
As they leave the pillar Caleb tries to cast dispel magic. When it fails, Liam makes a very angry face and flips double middle fingers at Matt/the pillar.
Fjord: Itâs ok! Itâs ok. Weâll probably come back by this way. Weâll get it another day.
1:39:18 Liam gets a little lost looking at his spells again
Fjord: Cah-leb?
Caleb: Yeah ok.
New Achievement: Pet name for your lover
1:44:21
Jester: Waffle cornbread!
Beau: Does such a thing exist?
Fjord: If the cats canât make it, I mean, who can?
Fjord is the ultimate hype man.
2:03:00
Travis: Is that a real story or did you write that?
Liam: I wrote it. Today.
Travis: *looks incredibly impressed but trying to hide it* Sure. Sure.
This is now a Travis and Liam friendship blog. Soft. Good. Pure.
2:53:45 Caleb turns Cad into a mammoth and Fjord/Travis is hype. Again. He also wants to see Caleb try to punch a yeti.
3:04:50 Fjord runs up to the yeti in melee with Caleb and does a pushing strike to get the yeti away.
3:32:16 Travis is broken, staring at his table. Laura points it out.
Travis: The necrotic stone? We canât leave it alone. The yetis? We invite them to fucking dinner.
Excuse me, you say âweâ but what you mean is âCalebâ sir.
3:59:20 Travis pops his fidget toy :( not widofjord but letâs all have a moment of silence for what cannot be the first time heâs done that. Can we start sending our recommendations for good fidget toys?
4:03:43 Fjord starts walking into the cave while the others are still debating the plan, and Caleb immediately follows him. When the others ask if Frumpkin will lead, Liam begins to describe using Fjord to steady himself to scout via Frumpkin before Matt cuts him off to close out the episode.
Thatâs it for this week! Letâs see what talks machina with Liam has for us >:)
Little steps- my self insert Fic (S/I POV) with a bunch of silly illustrations! Oh did I mention that this involves Kaeya? Well he's the main focus here even though Lisa is mentioned shit ton of times! Might write something for her focus too someday.
I finished it ages ago but I was afraid to post it- I'm not anymore and alsoâš it's my birthday âš
~~
Ever since I joined the knights I decided to write in a diary, it helped me keep track of time. Lisa told me that it can help me in various ways, like for example remembering names of the other knights, or checking my personal progress. Now that I think about it, it was long since I checked my old entries. Nothing interesting happened today anyway so I might as well read some. I don't really remember anything that was going on when I started so I suppose I could refresh my memory.
Today Lisa wanted to introduce me to someone- she probably wanted to help me by looking for training partner for me, however I had to refuse. You probably remember why was that, I got scared of meeting someone new again. I couldn't get that mess on her shoulders when she has so much to do as it is! And there was no way I'd meet them alone it'd be too akward for both of us!
I remember the exact moment I tried to come up with an excuse for future me... It kinda made me giggle how stupid I am sometimes, but let's look at something else...
I've never felt as lonely as I do now, I donât even know why. I donât miss anyone nor I ever craved any interactions... But to make that feeling go away I thought about talking to Amber but when I left the house she was talking to Noelle and I got scared to approach them... Instead I decided to sketch something and stay inside for the rest of the day.
I immediately looked at my sketchbook, I don't even have to look inside, I was drawing what's outside my window like always. Maybe I'll find some better memory if I keep looking?
During my patrol I got a bit lost... It was scary... But I wasn't alone, an Adventurer found me... However he got lost too. It was a bit unlucky day since I picked the wrong maps, we also got attacked a few times by monsters. I kinda feel bad for him since he tried his best to cheer me up but I stayed silent. It should've been other way around a knight shouldn't le
Bennett! How could I forget his name when I was writing this? He was such a sweetheart I obviously had to mess it up and make him feel uncomfortable... But I did make up for it! Maybe I'll finally read something positive? I somehow can't remember how exactly that went... Or if I was daydreaming about apologizing?
I decided to bake something for Bennett as thank you and apology for acting so cold towards him. But I had no idea on how to find him... Or what to say... So after thinking for few minutes I decided to talk to Katherine and ask her to give it to him. After "talking" to her I locked myself in my room out of embarrassment, I messed up again. I just said "Bennett" placed my pastries and left. Now I probably won't be able to face her for at LEAST two months.
I cringe at the memory... Gosh now this will keep me up at night for sure... I finally forgot about it and now it'll haunt me.
Wait a second... Did I really not made any progress at all!? I was trying so hard to socialize with others and get out more but I seem to still not be able to do it right. No, it's impossible. I'm good friends with Lisa! So I definitely made any progress... Or is she just so easy to talk to? Time to take a final look at something recent for a change...
Capitan Kaeya Alberich wanted to talk to me outside work... It might not sound like a big deal but somehow I just froze... I wasn't able to respond properly and he probably guessed what I was going to say, not that he ever can't do that... I might be too predictable. Either way I feel bad, my behavior was really disrespectful and I knew better than that to just ignore someone like him. I still have much to learn and I'll need to properly apologize for staying silent.
I only ever failed... There is no mistaking it. Great way to note down progress huh? Too bad there is none.
Think, what do I need to do to finally do better? I am the problem for sure but what do I really need to change? Maybe I should just start observing how others act... After all I never bothered to do that. It might help in one way or another...
Obviously there's only one place where there is a lot of people and I won't look like a total creep if I'll just listen in the conversations and look at random people... It's no other than the tavern. I'm scared to go there alone... But I don't have to!
Lisa would be willing to go right?... Then again I rely on her a bit too much and going out like this could be an opportunity to break the ice with someone else...
Jean is always busy, Amber will be way too distracting and we might end up somewhere else, Eula is too scary, Venti... I don't even know why I'm considering him.
Maybe that offer from capitan Kaeya still stands? It's from bearly 2 weeks ago so maybe if I get lucky and he happens to still be interested, I can actually go...
What am I even thinking!? I didn't even apologize for the last time... But being around so many drunk people is terrifying... However I can't bet on the fact that he won't drink too much... On the other hand he seems to handle people and I'll definitely learn something.
Screw it. It might be scary but I need to do it. Tomorrow I'll ask him! That's for sure! He's the most respectable and trustworthy person who isn't always busy and will not distract me.
~âł
I'm scared to do it but I have to! I need to... Did I really say that I'm gonna do it today? Or should I just pretend that I never thought of it. He's probably busy today. Yup definitely that no need to feel stressed.
I haven't seen him back at the headquarters nor did I see him around town when I was coming back from my patrol- that's a good sign. It's still pretty early but I don't think that I'll see him today... What a relief!
Before I left the headquarters after finishing some paperwork I hear a voice that belongs to a beautiful librarian I am lucky to be able to call a friend.
"Hey there cutie, are you okay?"
"Just a little bit nervous that's all, nothing new haha"
"Do you need me to pass a message again?"
"No need! It's something I need to say myself..."
"I see..."
"But if you happen to see capitan Kaeya it would be nice if you could tell him that I was looking for him" out of habit I grab my hair and begin to play with it. Lisa's warm soothing voice blessed my ears as she said "No worries darling, I'll let him know" before she left and giggled to herself...
Wait... Oh no.
Why did I say anything!? Is she that magical that I can't say anything but what's on my mind.
If she happens to meet him my request will be unavoidable! Even if I tried thinking of something else Kaeya will know that I'm lying. I can't avoid him either... Can't waste his precious time...
How do I even ask him!? Do I need to change from my work clothes before I go? What should I do...
I didn't realize that I started walking in circles before someone approached me.
"Heather?"
I turn around and see the man I was thinking about all day. Dammit... I have to say it. I can't think of an excuse and staying silent is now unacceptable.
"Oh-uhm... Greetings Capitan Kaeya"
"Lisa informed me that you were looking for me"
"Oh right!... That... Haha..."
"I don't want to rush you, however I do have some business to attend to"
"I'm so sorry! I mean- since you're busy then my silly request is irrelevant"
"Come now, I believe that I should be the judge of that" his smug look made it ever so slightly more challenging to say anything.
"I just... Ugh..." I took a deep breath "Look as you know I was trying to loosen up recently and well I realized that I wasn't making any progress at all. So I remembered that one time you asked me to go to the tavern with you and I refused... I mean ignored you, which I am VERY sorry about but now I think that it was a mistake and today I wanted to ask you to accompany me but since you're busy let's just forget about everything" I felt relieved getting that off my chest.
"I don't think that will do, in fact I was heading towards the tavern so if you really want to I suppose you can join me" Oh right... I forgot about him gathering some information there from time to time. So it might work after all! He won't pay too much attention to me and I could investigate without tons of distractions.
"Let's get going then capitan" I say before he smiles softly in response "Wait do you want to get going now or-"
"Yes" he cut me off, which was fair and I'm glad he did it before I said something dumb.
We're almost there. Before we get closer I suddenly stop.
"That reminds me!" I realized I spoke out loud, as he looked at my direction my confidence dropped dead "I've never actually tried any alcohol so would you be so kind to recommend something for me? I figured that since I'm already getting out of my comfort zone might as well try something new" I said under my breath but he definitely understood what I meant judging by his facial expression and well... response.
"Absolutely" my heart skipped a beat. I desperately tried to start a conversation topic... But choosing alcohol might be something I'll regret...
Kaeya started listing few drinks I could enjoy his words were poetic as he described the beverages, however the names of the drinks went over my head. It wasn't that bad but I just felt stupid over how clueless I was. He definitely knew what he was talking about and I'm more than interested in hearing more. The more he talks the less likely I am to say something I'll regret.
"Obviously since I don't know how much you can handle I won't be forcing you to try too much too soon" he paused "Your father probably wouldn't be happy either if you returned drunk" he said teasingly. It invited me to respond less seriously.
"Oh no! This means that we'll have to do it again, how awful"
"We didn't enter yet so you can feel free to leave now before you regret spending time with me of all people" his voice was now suddenly much more hostile... Did I mess it up!?
He laughed softly "I'm sorry did I go too far? While I don't want to force you to do anything, I won't lie... I'm a bit curious to learn something new about you tonight"
We were still outside standing right in front of the entrance to the tavern if not for chatting we could hear from the inside there would be total silence.
"I'm sorry for being quiet again! It's just that you caught me off guard haha" I look away "There isn't much to know about me so I feel like I'll only disappoint you"
"I'm not so sure about that part"
"Wait... Did my father tell you anything about me!?"
"Look let's just get inside, We'll discuss it later"
Nervously I followed him yet again. The atmosphere was warm and I could see different kinds of people all over the place. We sit down.
"So did he tell you anything?" I ask immediately.
"Relax, he didn't" he seemed amused by my desperation to know. It's understandable... And I'm probably overreacting anyway. I collect my thoughts "I'm sorry"
"What are you sorry for?"
"I'm just making this into some big deal for no reason. Maybe the reason is the huge amount of respect I have for you that makes me freak out"
"I see, well I don't see the reason to be so formal now. We aren't working after all" his soft smile was enough for me to calm down.
"Thank you" Maybe it was all I needed to hear, after that everything went smoothly.
I start feeling proud of myself... Maybe I can change after all? Either way it only shows that I have to write it down! And once I was back home I did just that.
Today I had enough courage to take a step in right direction! I went to a tavern with capitan Kaeya. It was fun and for the first time in years I wasn't that scared. It wasn't totally perfect but it was definitely worth it.
Kevin Moon
PAIRINGS: KEVIN MOON X READER
GENRE: ANGST
WORD COUNT: 2012 WORDS
WARNING: TERMINAL DISEASE, CHARACTER DEATH
Loosely inspired by Five Feet Apart& The Fault In Our Stars
Kevin Moon
The first time he heard his name came out from your lips was on the first night when he was admitted to the hospital after being diagnosed with heart valve disease, that he felt so ridiculous for suffering it at just the age of 22.
He feel dejected, his whole world came crushing down and all his dream shattered like a broken glass right in front of his eyes. For the first time he was lost, so lost that he couldnât see anything aside from the newfound illness. So lost that his mind couldnât think of anything, like it already give up on himself, his body, his future because he had no future. Well not anymore.
He told his nurse he wanted to stay at the garden but instead he went up to the rooftop just to try his luck for a place to be in peace, unbothered.
He was lucky that night.
But after a while, you came. He look back when he saw you in his peripheral view, rustling with your bag while looking at him with the biggest smile on your face that he ignored right away. Youâre just a stranger anyway. Some stranger that he met during his stay at the hospital and strangers are temporary.
You have the name of my most favourite thing in this world.
You beamed walking to him, sitting down right next to him with a safe distance, but he ignored you still, looking ahead to the city lights pushing your voice away to the back of his mind. Youâre kind of annoying, you talked too much for his liking and oddly cheerful for someone who wore hospital gown and had those breathing tube stuck on your nose with oxygen tank inside your bag.
But as time passed, he had grown used to your presence by his side at the rooftop every night. Looking at sky in silence.
Why are you here?
He asked one day after a full week not uttering a single word to you aside from telling you his name.
Oh, just because my lungs had no idea how to work properly. It keep malfunctioning and stuffs.
You shrugged like it was nothing to you while looking up to the stars and the full moon making his gut twisted in sympathy.
How long have you been here?
He asked again.
Three years and a half since the first diagnose.
He stayed silence because a âsorry' couldnât fix any of it. He didnât want to dig deeper because heâs afraid that his question could scare you off just like it did to him when people asked about his illness. He didnât want to explain it to anyone anymore, he hate how serious his condition are when he said it out loud. But you never asked, maybe you understands how it feels. How he feels and he had found comfort in your presence since then.
Iâm going to die you know.
He confessed one day, when his treatment doesnât seems to fix what it supposed to. He had grown tired even if its just two week. But two week feels like forever to him. He missed his life outside the hospital, he missed his piano, he missed the feeling of playing again. He missed everything that the hospital couldnât provide him.
He was expecting sympathy from you, or a âsorryâ but instead you just gave him a smile. A smile that he couldnât decipher the meaning was. But your next words put a stop in his rustling mind that filled with worries, that could no longer see the future.
We are all dying Kevin Moon. That is not a new thing, but letting the fear of dying hinder you from living is a bad choice. What are the quote that said live like weâre dying are made for? And bla bla bla.
You chuckled, hugging your bag between your legs, looking up like you always do and he thought of nothing else but to think but how right you are.
We are special Kevin Moon you know that?
You look away from the moon to him with a smile, a smile of satisfaction, a smile full of proud.
Why?
Because god had given us advantage by telling us that we are dying soon. So all we gotta do is live fully at our last moment, stop taking advantage at anything or everything. Apologize to people who we had hurt and love while we can. We get a step ahead from everyone else by knowing how and when it will end so we can be prepare.
And that is the moment where he fall in love with you.
He look forward to see you every night at the rooftop, your word had given him strength to live every single day since that night. He started to fight again thanks to you and he even dare to dream again. You give him so much strength to fight that he finally feeling alive again.
He even started to open up to you, filling the once was silence with everything about him which you always listen to without interrupting.
He missed the session with you one night when he suffered a mild heart attack. But you came to his room on the next day, watching him from the outside through the square glass on the door. You were smiling at him showing your fist and mouthed âhwaitingâ before leaving without coming close to him.
Heart transplant.
It was a chance, a second chance for him. Even if it take forever for him to wait for a donor he would take it if its the only way he could be with you. Maybe to have a future with you.
He told you about the news without the mention of his plans about his future with you and you looked relieved. Your smile never seems to falter everytime he speaks about everything. Things between him and you had take a full turn where he talked a lot and you just listen to him in silence with a fond smile that really melts his heart.
You always came by during the day since his doctor had restricted his movement, you told him about the moon each time, never once you asked about his condition or how his illness are. You just listen. Listening and looking at him like he is your whole world. Hew saw that and he knew that look, but he keep it to him planning to confess to you only after he had his surgery.
A month had passed and he noticed your skin was getting paler and bone on your cheek seems more prominent each day.
Its just the medicine.
You shrugged him off when he asked, but your reason didnât settled well in him. But he shrugged it off anyway.
We have a donor.
The words struck him like a rainbow with stars that lit his whole life in instant and the first thing he wanted to do is to share it with you. But you didnât came that day, or the next day.
He waited for you to come before the surgery but you didnât show up. He wanted to go to your ward room but his nurse told him to rest.
Few hours before the surgery another nurse came into his room handing him a piece of paper with a smile. A smile that didnât seem to reach her eyes. She left before he could say anything.
Hwaiting Kevin Moon. Y/N â„ïž
And that simple note from you washed away all of the worries he had for you. He fold the small paper and place it in one of the page of his sketchbook with a smile and let your image occupies his mind and thoughts.
He was out for a few days after the successful surgery. The sound of the machine inside the room stirred him from unconsciousness, as his eyes fluttered open, he saw you standing right next to his bed smiling down to him. You looked healthier, and your cheek that once pale looked like it had been kissed by the rose itself, you were shining so bright. You were beautiful, smiling like an angel. You caressed his forehead, stroking his hair back which he close his eyes to your gentle touch.
Live well Kevin Moon.
You said before taking your leave as he drift back to unconsciousness.
A lot of people came after the surgery. Congratulating him and all, some of his close friends and family, doctors and nurses, even the patient that he had made friend thanks to you.
But you werenât there.
You didnât come.
Kevin Moon,
The first time i saw you, you looked like an angel. I know Iâm being exaggerated, but i swear, you shine brighter than the moon itself that night. You were cold to me and i am offended since that is my spot, but i let it slip because youâre the new kid.
He laughed at your word letting the scene settled inside his mind and a frown quick to take over, then his lips trembles at every words you had written.
You know how much I love the moon, but do you know why?
He smiled again, remembering how you used to describe the moon and the way you look up to it.
Because it bring peace to me in silence, it has the power to keep me sane, just like you did to me. I know its late but when I said i want to give my heart to you, i really mean it you know. I really like you Kevin Moon. I like you so much that for the first time I hope that i am not sick so i can be with you and plan our future just like healthy people did. For the first time i prayed so hard my lungs could be cured and for the first time i despised god for making me sick.
He shut his tightly that had been filled with his tears and let it fall down to his cheek.
But at least you have my heart now that it will put me to ease. And you have got your second chance now Kevin Moon, go live your life, go to Beyonce concert, let people listens to your music, paint everything that catches your eyes and love with all your hearts.
Our hearts.
Its our heart now Kevin Moon, it belongs to you forever at least. Its the piece of me that you can keep, its the piece of me that will always belongs to you. Live well Kevin Moon.
I love you.
Y/N.
He broke down at your last sentences, hunching his back burying his face on his palm with your letter still on his grip, crying out loud. How he had taken you for granted by not telling how much he like you too, no. How deep he had fallen in love with you. He thought that you were getting better, he thought you still have time.
Even how much you reminded him every single day to not take advantage on things, but he did it to you.
Live well Kevin Moon.
Your word keep repeating inside his head with the image of you. Only you. Your smile, giggles, laugh and all your bubbliness.
She told me a lot about you Kevin, thank you for making her feel how to fall in love.
He raise his head looking at your mother who was seated next to his bed. She smile fondly to him, caressing his shoulder which made him cry harder at her words.
How was her last moment?
He bravely asked in between his sniffles.
She was happy Kevin, knowing that she will give her heart to someone she knew could do so much greater things in the future. She was so brave, my child.
She force a smile, biting her own lips holding her tears.
And she told me to make you promise to take care of that heart. That big heart of her.
I promise.
A/N: Sorry i have been inactive lately, block sucks you know and i'm taking a break for a little while. This Freedom Doesnât Scare Me at All
A bit of an AU where the stories of FF7r and KH are combined to create this fanfic. There are going to be somethings that don't match the FF universe but just roll with it for this fic. Aerith talks about freedom with NaminĂ© who is experiencing everything herself. For @aerith-week day 5.Â
Word Count: 1788
Warnings: Slight Clerith and Namiku. Also descriptions of someone getting badly injured and character death but I hope itâs not too bad.
Read on Ao3
âCid, just give me a list! You donât have to explain what each part does!â
âLast time I gave you a list, you came back with things that were never even on there!â
âBut did you use them?â
âIâll just wait outsideâŠâ Aerith quickly got herself out of the argument that was about to explode between Cid and Cloud. It was just going to be a simple errand run but when Cid wanted parts for his computer, it became an all day endeavor. He would get mad if you got the wrong one. Even if you followed the list to a T, he would still find something wrong with it.
âTHEN WHY NOT JUST BUY THEM YOURSELF CID?!?â Ah, Aerith heard that Yuffie caught wind of the debate. Itâs a good thing Merlin wasnât home, he would have had all of their heads...Maybe she should give him a call? Her thought was interrupted when she saw NaminĂ© sitting in the flowers. Her head was tilted up at the sky and a sketchbook in her lap.
"Hello Naminé, may I join you?"
Naminé was startled for just a moment before responding, "Oh yes, sorry I just got distracted." Aerith fixed her dress and sat next to her. She noticed that there was some art supplies near her and on the page of the book was the sky above them and some of the buildings in the square. "Do you ever just look up at the sky?" The question came out of nowhere and sounded more rhetorical so Aerith remained silent so the young girl could continue. "The sky looks so different every place you go. The sunrise on Destiny Island is different than the sunset in Twilight Town. And the evening sky in the Land of Departure is vastly different that the daytime here in Radiant Garden." As Naminé talked to Aerith, she flipped through her sketch book. She had different skies of each location she named. "I try to draw the sky where ever I go but, it just doesn't give the real thing justice. It was one thing to see everything through Sora's memories, but to experience everything for myself." Naminé took a deep breath in and slowly let it out. "This is like nothing I have ever experienced before." Aerith just listened to Naminé. It was nice to see the girl experience this new life she got to have. Her smile was still there but Aerith could see her eyes had a somber look to them, "Riku says he's going to ask the King if we can take the Gummi ship and go to all the different worlds they went to but, I just feel all that open world it I just..."
"You get scared?"
"Yeah. Do you know that feeling?"
"I think I know that feeling all too well." Aerith fixed her dress. Naminé was waiting for her to continue and Aerith sighed. "Cloud, Leon, Tifa, we aren't actually from Radiant Garden. We're actually from a place called Midgar."
"What was Midgar like?"
"I have no idea. You see, I was born in a lab. What I mean is that my mom had me in a lab. For the first few years of my life, I was trapped. It was just me, my mom, and the scientists who would run tests on us. It was awful. The only resemblance of outside I got to experience were from the stories that my Mother would read to me."
"I had no idea."
"It's okay, no one really knew. Plus, it's not something that I really talk about."
"You don't have to tell me if this is too much for you."
"No, sometimes it's good to talk about these things. I lived in the lab for the first few years of my life. Then, when I was maybe about eight? Nine? My mom decided she would take me and we would escape. How she was able to come up with a plan to get us out of there was beyond me. But she did it. Unfortunately for us, that was the same day that the Heartless attack our world and we lost it to darkness. Up until that moment, I thought that the world was just as beautiful as the way I imagined it in the book." Aerith hugged her knees close to her as she remembered. "I was so terrified as she carried me outside. Everything was falling, the sky was an awful mix of black, yellow, and purple. People were being turned into Heartless. I was traumatized."
"Your Mother, did she turn into..."
Aerith shook her head, "No. As she ran, a part of a building fell in front of us. It caused us to fall into the slums below. My Mother took most of the fall to keep me safe. Even when I told her I would walk, she wouldn't let me go. At this point she could barely move and she fell. The fall was too much for her. And of course, because luck was on our side that day, more debris fell on her. It pinned her to the ground. It was the first time I looked at her since we escaped. Her face was bloodied and her left arm had a gash that ran down her forearm. Her lip was cut and so was the top of her head. She wouldn't move and I could see that the Darkness was coming closer. I called out for help and tied to move her, but of course I couldn't do anything. Cid found us as he was taking everyone to his Gummi ship. He ran to us and my Mother just said, Take care of Aerith." Aerith wiped a tear from her cheek and continued. "I must have passed out because we made it to Radiant Garden and I was in a bed at Merlin's house."
Naminé leaned in close to Aerith doing anything she could to comfort her, "What happened once you made it here?"
"I didn't leave my room. I was young and in my mind I connected the idea of escaping to the world ending again. I thought that if I even looked outside everything would collapse. So, I kept my door closed at all times and the curtains drawn. Everyone would try to get me to go outside but I was so afraid of the unknown that was out there. I thought that going outside would ruin everything all over again. I did that until I was about thirteen." Aerith looked down at Naminé who remained at her side. "But, I wasn't a complete hermit. I would talk to Yuffie and Tifa when they went out to the market place. Cid would talk to me about dinner recommendations or just how my day was. And Merlin brought me books. He saw that I brought the one my Mother would read to me so her would give me some of his old ones. My favorite was the one about flora and fauna. It was very large, each page was full of descriptions of how to take care of plants and animals. The plants fascinated me the most."
"How did Cloud help you?"
"Well Could, he was an introvert and would only see me if other people were in the room. But then one day he came to my room with a potted plant in his arms. He placed it on my dresser and said, 'It's one thing to look at them in pictures but I thought you might like the real deal.' That's what started it all." Aerith went into greater detail of how Cloud would bring her a new plant for her room until it eventually looked like a green house. "On my thirteenth birthday he brought me beautiful yellow lilies, but of course at that point there was no room for them." Aerith sighed as she recalled this memory and Naminé patiently waiting for her to continue, "I knew what he was going to say next, he said if I wanted more I would have to plant some outside." Aerith shook her head and laughed, "I wanted to throw him out of my room at that moment, flowers or not."
Naminé laughed with her, "So what did you do?"
"Well I didn't throw him out, but he could tell I was apprehensive about leaving my room. So he just told me, 'Aerith, you can't be afraid of living your life just because something bad may happen. Bad things happen to people all the time, but that doesn't stop everyone from experiencing the good.' He held out his hand for me to take. And even though I was screaming internally, I knew he was right. So I took his hand and we walked outside. Cloud didn't care that I held on to him. If anything he held me tighter when he felt that I was shaking. Finally, I walked out the door to this same beautiful sky that you see." They both looked up again. "When I stayed inside my room, it felt as thought the air was also suffocating me. I was trapped by my own fear. But when I walked outside, I could finally breathe again. I cried at how fresh the air, the breeze, everything felt so freeing."
"Sorry, that little anecdote I had, I guess I needed to talk about it after all." Aerith gave a nervous laugh but Naminé shook her head with a smile.
"No, don't worry, I understand what you were trying to tell me. I can't be afraid of all this freedom I now have. I was so used to being trapped that it became the only thing I knew. But know that I have a heart. The only thing that's stopping me is me." Naminé stood up with a new resolve. "I'm going with Riku! Nothing I going to stop me. Maybe we can invite Sora and Kairi too."
"That's the spirit, but something tells me that Riku would like to go with just you." Naminé didn't have too much time to think about what she meant because Cloud came up behind them.
"Hey, you ready? Cid finally gave me a list."
"Mhm. Naminé would you like to come with us? We could get you some art supplies or a new dress for when you go with Riku?"
Naminé had packed her things and was ready to head home but stopped, "Oh, you wouldn't mind?"
"No, not at all." Cloud smiled at her and took the small messenger bag that held her sketch book and color pencils. Standing in between them Naminé held Cloud's hand in her left and Aerith's in her right as they walked to the market place.
