okay hear me out. what do we think donna's relationship with her mother is like??? and the older sister??? because tbh im willing to bet it's not the best.

first of all, we know her parents separated at some point and that her sister is "much older" than her - im willing to bet 10 years, maybe? old enough to probably be out of the house when the separation happened, but i am wondering how old donna was at that time, and i wonder if she spent more time with her dad during that period.

we're just exposed to her dad so much more in the show, like two or three times compared to the one time in season EIGHT (very late in the series, mind you) where she goes to her mom to reminisce about a trip that was never taken, and the advice she gets leads to her severely fucking with harvey's job. while tbh i might have also told thomas if i were in her position, just bc he was really a good guy and didn't deserve to be fucked over like he would have been, i just find it funny that the one time donna's mom has impact as a character it leads to like a near catastrophe.

do we think younger donna could have blamed her mom for the separation as a child, and that it caused a shift in their dynamic that has been a fracture following donna into adulthood? could her mom be closer with the sister, or have moved to be wherever the sister lives in case the sister has kids or needs greater support?

just like even when donna and harvey get together there's no excitement to tell her mom or an indication that her mom is told, it's just a big thing to talk to her dad about (and FUCK donna's dad by the way, I'm on harvey's team with this one, jim was pissing me off every chance he got!!!!).

anyways I really am just trying to come up with more ways that darvey could parallel each other (harvey's blame to his mom for breaking up their family while sad wasn't all that great but he had a better relationship with him and admired him anyways), and I do want to know your thoughts on donna's sister if you have any!!!

i feel like she thought her mom was dumb for trusting her dad and giving him her savings. she asks her mom if she regrets doing it because of the way it turned out. and her mom is like how wud i kno how it’d turn out. and donna’s like CAUSE HE LET U DOWN BEFORE re: her dad but also harvey

and then there’s the flashback of her mom promising her all sorts of things that never happened because her mom trusted her dad so she tells thomas because she didn’t want to be made a fool of like her mom

what I don’t get is if this is the case why did she want to help her dad before with money ??

also during the flashbacks of this episode were her parents together or separate because that’s also confusing. her parents are together when they stay at harvey’s place but her mom has a boyfriend whose name doesn’t matter at the dinner party we don’t see. her family situation is definitely all over the place zero stability

i never got the sense that she was distant from her parents. the difference between her and harvey is that he seems to hold onto his anger whereas she doesn’t. i think she’s aware of their faults and conscious of not wanting to be like them but i think they have a decent relationship. enough so that she’s attending dinner parties with her mom and having breakfast semi regularly with her dad

also the episode where donna gets mad at harvey for not trying to build a relationship with her dad - i felt at the time it was donna’s reaction to their relationship like that he was going to bail and she was finding a reason to bail before him!! like what did u think

Fluttering in and out of consciousness, a very comfortable Vanessa hears commotion from somewhere inside the apartment.

Her eyes were heavier than Freddy's head, and her mountain of blankets weighed her down. Why was she awake, again?

I think.... I heard something. Maybe it was Gregory.

That works like a charm. She can slowly feel herself gain more energy to shift out of bed and sit up. Nail polish and clutter fall off of her side table as she reaches for her phone. Vanessa groans.

Fine, I can just walk without a light. I should know where all my furniture is from memory.

Her feet immediately catch on a pile of laundry she'd been neglecting. "Shit," she whispers as she hops until she regains balance. Vanessa steps more carefully this time, successfully feeling for the door frame and switching the light on.

There's a faint.. sniffing kind of noise. Then it goes quiet.

"..Ness?"

Her heart beats faster as she jogs to Gregory's room, feeling for the walls. It's right at the end of the hall.

Gregory's 'room' (a room she once used for art and sewing crafting, now containing just a makeshift bed and spare furniture) was pitch black; save for Freddy charging on the desk beside his bed. The beam of his eyes allowed her to see just half of Gregory's face.

"Are you okay? Did anything happen?" she runs a hand through her untamed bedhead.

"Oh. Um, I just heard.. you walking around, so I wanted to make sure, uh, it was you. I'm a light sleeper, sorry." Vanessa noticed how Gregory sniffed in between some of his words. Her limited view of him appeared as if he was on edge. Scared.

"..You sure?"

He fidgets with his sweater sleeves.

"Yeah."

It had only been a week since Vanessa took in this stubborn, brave, creative kid. After five days of going through hell together in that mega mall. A hell that she took part in, god, maybe even orchestrated--

That wasn't me. It was never me. I got him out. We're safe.

She couldn't blame him for being so guarded. Especially towards her.

Ness leans on his doorframe. "Look, I um.." she pauses, unsure of where shes going with this.

"I would never want to discount how brave you are. You have ten times the courage I did at your age. But that doesn't mean... you're never scared."

Isn't that kind of contradictory?? She thinks. Gregory's eyebrows furrow; he's just as lost as Vanessa.

"Okay, I'm really sleep deprived. Crap." she mumbles. "What I mean to say is that I don't want you to be scared of being scared. You can.. talk to me about nightmares and stuff. You don't have to push down your fears anymore."

He doesn't respond, looking at the wall for a bit. Vanessa fidgets with her hair.

"It was about the animatronics," Gregory breathes out. "but y- Vanny wasn't there. I don't remember.. seeing her." He motions for Vanessa to come closer. She doesn't hesitate, sitting at the edge of the mattress.

"They chased me out of the pizzaplex doors, and then we were on that hill. But Roxy dragged me back and then I was in some kind of.. mirror maze? It was on fire, and I had to get low to the ground."

Vanessa listens intently. "But Monty started crawling after me, and he got my leg. Then they all started... Um. And then I saw that other rabbit in the mirror right before I woke up."

They both freeze.

"I don't know, the locations didn't make that much sense. But I could see every single detail of the characters. I could feel everything." His voice shakes, right before tears start to form.

Vanessa felt a pang in her heart. She had no idea whether to comfort him or let him come to that decision himself.

"...Could you stay in here for the night? Like, bring an extra mattress maybe.." he trailed off, wiping his eyes.

"Uh- of course. Yeah, I have a sleeping bag somewhere." she takes off to the hallway closet, leaving Gregory to sit and wait.

He stares into the corner of the room. Into the shadows. Something looks like it's there, but his brain knows it's nothing.

With nothing to do with his hands, he hugs one of his pillows. I wish Freddy didn't weigh a million pounds. He glances at the Glamrock Freddy plush sitting on the floor.

Gregory sighs, leaning over to grab it and fitting it into his arms.

"Is this good now?" Vanessa asks, sitting up in her sleeping bag and attempting to read Gregory's face in the darkness. He nods, seemingly content and burrowing back into his blanket.

Vanessa smiles and makes herself comfortable.

"Tomorrow I could go out shopping for your room, if you want." She stares up at the ceiling, envisioning where she would go. "Maybe some glow in the dark stars? My ceiling was full of 'em when I was younger."

Gregory made a sound that seemed like "mhm." He sounded ready to fall asleep right there and then. Vanessa wondered if her being here made him feel more safe.

"Night, Nessa." he mumbled

"Night, Greg."

Podfeels Adapt8ion Notes: Episode 4

hello, dare again! just as a reminder for how these posts work, stagelights will be covering the notes as a whole, and if i ever have to pitch in it will be with purple text like this! with that said, lets get back into it!

this episode was sort of the first one we ever did, as the original demo for the project way back when (i think it was like 3 years ago now? how time flies) (yeah... its so crazy to look back on) was this episode. we did however make a few new adaptational changes, as well as re-recorded everything, as basically all of us have grown as actors since then. so before we get into the episode proper, we have an adaptational addition already!

at the beginning of each episode, we hear jess (as Narration and then june) saying the quote from the description of godfeels on ao3

these fuckers.

but since june has come out, we can’t just use the godfeels 2.1 one, and the godfeels 2.2 doesn’t necessarily fit. so we (actually i got sarah to do it!) wrote our own specifically for this episode. “My name is June Eg8ert, and now I know I’m human… but will my friends see it the same way?”

ok time for the actual episode

some fairly minor changes. i’m pretty sure the ellipses were meant to be there to help with direction for the actors but we kept them in in the scriptlog because i think they help add to the vibe of roses skepticism

this change was added to help sort of bring this in line with the epilogues. giving off the vibes she’s experiencing the symptoms she talks about in there. this part of the story takes place several months before the epilogues would have happened, so obviously it’s not as severe but its still present. 

line cut for pacing. id say less PACING and more just... sometimes narration things like this, her snapping her head, can be more cleanly conveyed in audio by just having it be incorporated into the performance. the narration described terse body language, so we nix that and deliver a terse performance!

more cut narration. at this point its kind of just routine lol

not necessarily a change but a very fun thing where junes voice and vriskas voice are layered for this line. this was actually also done with the call during the previous episode but i forgot to mention it.

more narration cuts. honestly though i have listened to this episode more than i’ve read the original version so i honestly didn’t even parse the “honestly rose” bit as a change until literally just now lmao. it flows so well that i genuinely thought it was there in the original

self explanatory. im running out of things to say.

the narration is replaced by door slam and party horn sound effects. champagne was specifically mentioned in the notes in the original google doc to be pronounced “sham-pag-in” which is probably a reference to a thing i dont get. YOU HAVENT WATCHED FUTURAMA!?!?!?

lotta cut narration. u kno the deal by now

another not-a-change but a line that gains a completely new context when combined with the actor swap. she quite literally does sound different. i think thats fun. according to sarah, that line was written back in the day with direct plans on it being in reference to her her, having played both john and june, taking a different performance when playing june. its just also taken on an even more stark meaning with having them be different actors, which i think is goddamn beautiful

just more instances of turning narration into stage directions and sound and emoticons into words and vocalizations

Hahahahaha it's so funny that that's true. I was serious! It was part of initial impetus (my desire to try writing it) for this story! I also feel like I would have wanted to read an anal sex story (i read a lot of gay ffn, but never a heterosexual, woman-receiving story) that captured a good experience and wasn't, as you said, porn-y. It's not just "easy and feels amazing". It takes a lot of time and patience and, for me, feels great, but isn't something I orgasm from (unlike in porn). And it takes a lot of trust in your partner (if you want it to be good). <- I'm not here to advocate for butt stuff and I know most readers probably have way way more experience in sex than me, but that's kind of where i was. I think I would've had a better experience the first time I did it if I'd read about it first in a genuine way (more than just google searching).

But the original comment was interesting and I thought about it a lot. It can definitely be degrading to women, and it was completely necessary that Temari be the one to propose it. Not him! And it needed to go slow with lots of consent and growing into full-blown penile penetration slowly.

Also (and another comment brought this up) it's also supposed to genuinely push how far their relationship has gone.

I imagine it being something she has always wanted to try (I think she's the type of person to never want to "not" be in-the-know... and so solely as a sexual exercise, she would want to try it). But would never have been close enough with a partner to do it. And if men proposed it, for the most part, I imagine she'd go "fuck you, you can't fuck me in my ass unless I can peg yours" on principle. 5. What was life like for Rook before joining the Veilguard?

odessa's life was kind of . in the shit . considering she flunked her chance at becoming a full-fledged crow that she was banking on [she couldn't let it happen , though . the people were more important . but she does have regrets] , and she was kicked out of the only home she's ever had even if it hurt her more than nurtured her , so she was just kind of coasting . she was by herself which would've also been causing harm to her , as she's never done well all on her lonesome . most of it was disassociation , if you asked her what she was doing , all she'd bring up was varric recruiting her - solely because she cant really remember .

7. Why does Rook agree to join the Veilguard?

for something to give her purpose , and to prove herself . she needed to see for herself that she Can do something , and do it well , without fucking it up . and maybe she was hoping viago would somehow see , and allow her back home . the good thing about joining the veilguard was that she was present , and in the moment , instead of vaguely hovering . we dont talk about how it basically backfired - thats haunting her every step to the point she's refusing to sleep .

20. What’s it like to see them smile? Their laugh?

odessa's smile is cute ; its more of a smirk , a raise of the corner than a smile , but enough that her front teeth show . its something that hasnt really changed since she was little , and her laugh lines are much more noticeable with a smile . she snorts more than she laughs , and its more of a cackle , and its really easy to make her laugh . she loooves jokes , even making her own no matter how terrible they are .

22. Most embarrassing memory as a teenager:

truly she has many to choose from ; most of which were witnessed by viago . one she claims was the most embarrassing was her falling from one of the ziplines into the canal . which was also when viago realized she never learnt how to swim and had to fish her out of there himself . and also when he realized she didnt know how to use the ziplines . that was certainly a time for both of them . and totally not in the presence of many other fledgelings . some that definitely let her forget [they dont let her forget ; heir lets her know shes not the only one who has done it , though]

its very eclectic - which fits her . theres an antivan coffee maker that she bought at the cafe , theres a lute she's trying to remember how to play when she's not so tired , theres sketches of wings on her walls , and a plant in a terrarium on one of her small tables , maybe because she was thinking of lace when she bought it , and how she'd like to grow plants someday . the floor is messy , various articles of belts and holders scattered about . she has a hard time staying in the room , as she doesnt want to sleep , but she tries to spend as much time , so that the fish dont get lonely . shes named them all , too , and gets stressed thinking about how they're fed with glass up to the ceiling and no fish-food designated spot . she thinks solas cruel , for that .

Y/n was at work stocking shelves when she got a call from their mom they were suprized but answered the call "hey mom" "hey y/n...I have some bad news about your father" and that's when their blood went cold, their mother told them that their father had passed last night from a heart attack y/n was in shock their eyes started to tear up, the phone call went on for another hour before y/n hung up. They hung their head and cried y/n loved their father dearly they wiped their tears and finished their shift before heading home for the day.

(Time skip to y/n walking home)

They opened the door "I'm home!" Jack pokes his head around the corner before running up and hugging them "I missed u so much" He squeezes them tightly he kisses them softly on the cheek "it's nice to be home" y/n looked sad there was no denying it jack noticed this "you okay pumpkin your not acting like yourself?" Y/n walks into the bedroom..which leaves jack confused 'did I do something wrong?' He thought. Jack follows y/n to the bedroom "hey I was talk you, you kno-" they walk out of the bedroom into the kitchen it's like they were ignoring him..on purpose he grabs their hand "hey y/n I'm talking to you!" He hated seeing them like this so he picked them up and carried them to the couch "I'm so sorry for your loss pumpkin...were u guys close?" They shake their head 'no' jack frowned he turned on the TV and put on their favorite movie y/n falls asleep in jacks arms he gets up and lays them down on the couch 'okay this is my chance' jack takes the keys to the house and leaves.. he's outside now it's so fresh so windy it's so free he hadn't been outside in a while he stands there for a moment before running off he stopped at a store close by he grabbed a basket and started to look around. He found a lamb plushie it looked cute y/n would love it, he got them some candy their favorites of course and then he passed by the bakery section and saw costumizable cakes and he had an idea.

Jack waited for the cake to be done they said it wouldn't take long, a lady comes out 30 minutes later and hands him the cake he says "thanks" and puts it in the cart. Jack got in one of the lines to pay and leave the puts the items on the counter "find everything u need today?" Asks the cashier "yep and a little more than I intend to" he chuckles. He pays scrounging up the money that he "borrowed" form people in the store and leaves walking back home and carefully opens the door to the apartment he shuts and locks the door quietly as possible and sets all the gifts down in the bedroom he places them all in a basket that he picked out for them. He walk out to the kitchen adding the details to the cake and leaving it on the counter for them to wake up to and putting the basket next to the cake before he went back to the couch and rested y/ns head in his lap again petting it softly.

A couple minutes later y/n wakes up looking up at jack "morning pumpkin..I guess more like good night? Idk it's night time now" "mm morning jackie" y/n kisses jack on the cheek he blushes slightly "oh I made dinner I made pasta jack grabs y/n hand and shoes them what he made "looks good huh? my mom had her first instance of driving dangerously to wear every1 in the car was scared n saying she was swerving a ton and where she says she had no idea. I already made a vow to never be in the car w/ her rly at all unless its very specific circumstances like family gathering or smthn unavoidable like tht so i wasnt in the car when it happened but its kinda scary its entering tht territory now but shes only get worse n worse it seems or atleast go back n forth between getting better and a new much worse. She says it was cause of some medication she was taking but no one rly trusts her anymore so it could be that or drinking like usual im rly glad or u kno atleast made the right choice to not talk to her anymore cause the shit i hear her do is so pathetic like she'll guilt trip my siblings to spend time with her watching shows almost always the office when she sounds drunk and very much implies that she'll go to her room to drink if they say no but its moot cause when they are nice to her she still goes to drink the moment some1 takes her eyes off her n then starts gaslighting every1 saying shes not drinking anymore its real embarrassing to hear. She also watches the office so much its like 10 times worse then her watching reality tv cause its like rotting her brain or shes just watching it so much that none of it even registers to her anymore n its this weird gross background noise she always has on while also like worshipping it tiday she was being weird to my little sister when she expressed discomfort n i could tell my mom was rly trying hard to get a free pass by acting the way steve carrell acts on it then asking my older sister if shes funny. tosh my babygirl my princess light of my life angel darling… shes so good. shes so good 🥺 i love her dearly. she’s so damn underutilized i hate how the show regulates her to a supporting role + only uses her for romantic plots. WACK shes so much more than that. i want a plotline about her cyberterrorism like hello??? i want a plotline about her warped little mind.. i want a plotline about her finally learning spanish ;-; that show did not do her justice and it did not deserve her. i often say torchwood’s characters are too good for the show; tosh is probs the best example of that. no other character gets screwed over as badly as she does by the narrative (not even ianto!) she’s so tragic and lonely i just wanna give her the biggest hug ever. 

fav moment… every time she smiles. (or smirks. hrgh. tosh call me.) also every time she geeks out about smth. im tryna think of a specific moment but idk if i have one?? i just love her overall i smile every time she’s on screen she’s my girlie. when i rewatch i might rmr one though

least favorite moment, the absolute only thing i can think of (hell, my only complaint with her as a character other than i wish she’d get over owen cuz bad taste queen pls u deserve sm better) - it’s always bothered me how she goes over to owen’s flat in aditd and just starts babbling about her own problems. she even says something like “you think everything’s about you”, and in that ep it’s like ??? why are they all acting like he’s unjustified being miserable and angry when he's fucking dead?? like they're all so unsympathetic and mean, even tosh, and out of her it's especially weird?? tbh it just strikes me as ooc (+ kind of misogynistic highkey) writing. i mean, by all means, let tosh bitch, she deserves to blow off some steam + esp deserves to be rude to owen tbh fhsdkjfsd, but the way it’s done in that particular moment feels ooc and, like, how men write women as talking too much and never listening lmao u kno what i mean (owen’s tuned out in the actual episode but you can see her full ramble in the original script, on page 23). tosh has never troubled anyone with her issues before, why would she choose now to, and when she knows owen’s struggling? yeah, on second thought, i don’t hold that against her actually, that’s ooc to me fhdkf. thts just the writer being a wiener.

my only unpopular opinions (slash hot takes) are that 1) towen fucking SUCKS get her away from him, and 2) most people like tosh but she’s highkey underappreciated, esp in fanfic, because of fandom racism + misogyny. she’s not bashed like gwen is but she’s ignored completely which is nearly as bad, and a lot of it’s cuz she happens to be in a show with two white men in a gay relationship who are overwhelmingly prioritized 💀 i will never not be petty about the way that ship dwarfs everything else in comparison. also throwing towen into the background of janto is so gross n cheap. if ppl cared abt her they'd do smth more interesting. and it's never well-done either. ugh.

i have a few hcs that are gonna end up in my owento verse (gwen and tosh are prominent characters in it bc i love them, and their relationships w owen and ianto and each other also have value lawl). tbh a lot of em are just things i think they should introduce into their lives to be happier. i want them happy ;-;

she starts coding video games recreationally!! nothing fancy but she rlly enjoys it + also gets into the swing of making little storylines n getting to express herself that way which is good for her. owen playtests shit for her

her and gwen go on spa dates sometimes. they put it on the torchwood credit card

she gets into fish tanks and fish tank care!!! esp like aquarium plants. shrimp and moss balls, that sort of thing. maybe plecos or loaches. she loves it + it’s grounding, which is good for her bc shes otherwise always got her head in her computers yanno. she’ll sit by her tank while she codes her games and the water sounds are calming. 

she also sits by it while she studies her spanish books which she does finally do. she doesn’t get around to the piano, though; doesn’t prioritize buying a keyboard. maybe one day (this is a nobody dies au btw so she will in fact eventually get around to it ;-;)

oh she’s autistic have i said that. the fish tanks absolutely become a spin. she has a few we know of from canon - math and computers, obviously, but also history (gbg) and the uk’s rivers (from gooseberry; i think it was just the uk maybe it was europe’s rivers. or the world’s! i don’t remember). she also loves trivia like she knows a fair amount about quite a lot of things + loves accumulating random info

well this is smth from my owandy verse but i think it should happen anyway. so it kind of kicks off bc gwen mixes up a blind date (it was gonna be tosh & andy and then owen & a friend of hers, but shes an adhd icon n bungles the invites <3)... tosh ends up with gwen’s friend, who’s straight, but they hit it off and she invites tosh to have drinks or maybe come to a bookclub meet or something with some friends of hers?? point is, tosh makes some casual friends. maybe meets a pretty girl there or smth 👁️ but mainly i want tosh to have girl friends like i think she grew up very lonely i want her to have some normalcy

also sometimes i like tosh x andy maybe they have a little meet cute at a torchwood crime scene or smth fshdkfd. i think they’d be cute and he’d treat her well. she'd babble abt tech stuff and he wouldnt understand a damn word but he'd listen very intently
