Billy Batson and Damian Wayne being weirdly good friends (ft. the occasional Jon Kent)
Billy befriends Damian after the JL learns his real identity. Batman approached him and told him they should meet since theyâre the same age.
At first, itâs awkward because Damian isnât interested in making friends, and Billyâs mad that Batman is essentially sending him to the kids' table. UntilâŠÂ
Damian: âWhy must my father insist that I socialize? I can handle myself!â Billy: âThank you! Iâve been on my own since I was six. I donât need an adult to tell me what to do.â Damian: ââŠI like you.â Billy: âWanna spy on the Justice League?â Damian: âYes.â
Batman immediately regrets his decision.
At first, the two donât really talk outside of meetings or happenstance, but when they do, theyâre like twins. They know exactly what the other is thinking at all times. (The adults are terrified.)
Both end up bonding over their upbringing, specifically the fact that they were abused/traumatized/malnourished for several years. That marks the point where they start talking regularly.
Damian nearly jumps out of his skin the first time Billy speaks to him in Arabic (courtesy of the Islamic Prophet, Solomon.) They now speak exclusively in Arabic when they gossip.
They will cut a bitch. Do not get on eitherâs bad side.
Every time one of them says something out of pocket, the other one high-fives them. Even Jon is concerned (and very jealous.)
Billy is required to attend the same school as the Teen Titans and YJ for a bit as a condition of staying in the JL so he and Damian end up taking a few classes together.
Billy âI have Zeus on speed dialâ Batson and Damian âI got a PhD in The Classics at age sixâ Wayne proceed to roast their history professors in the back of the classroom for all of the misinformation.
Damian: âOkay so I really need a human skull, but you canât ask why.â Billy: âAs long as you also donât ask why.â *pulls out several pristine human skulls from pocket dimension* âTake your pick.â Damian: ââŠthis one.â Jon: âwhat the fuck what the fuck what the fuck what the fuckâ
Theyâre both eerily good at schooling their emotions due to countless years of emotional abuse and neglect. If anything goes wrong during a mission, itâs like a switch is flipped. They are suddenly completely level-headed.
Damian gifts Billy a PC that he built himself so they can play games together without so much lag. (Itâs literally just Minecraft on creative mode. They design a working amusement park together.)
Both have been permanently banned from all zoos on the eastern seaboard. Damian tried to âliberateâ the ostriches, and Billy taught the gorillas swear words in sign language.
Everyone Else: âWe need to find civilization on this desert planet we crashed landed on or weâll starve.â Billy and Damian: âThe human body can go ten days without food.â Everyone: ââŠAre you okay?â Billy and Damian: âNot important.â
Billy, Jon, Colin, and Damian have a group chat where they regularly place bets on dumb mishaps the adults get themselves into. The one rule is they canât bet with cash. Thus they create a trading system made entirely of local snacks, PokĂ©mon cards, supernatural knick-knacks, and dares.

A cat proposal
summary : minho is in love & wants to marry you
pairing : Lee Know x reader, pre-established relationship.
genre : FLUFF
warnings : mention of wanting to have kids together at the end.
the things i would do to have this man.... hope you enjoy reading!! feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments, it will be very appreciated!! <33
You were lying down on the couch, Minho sprawled on top of you. His head was on your chest, his nose nuzzling your stomach every now and then as if to remind you he was there. And you were playing with the locks of his hair lazily, drawing mindless circles on his back from time to time.
It had been exactly two weeks since Minho moved in with you. You hadn't really had the time to relax, just the both of you. His schedule was hectic and so was yours, as it was nearing the end of the year. You only saw each other when he came home late to you; bringing your body to his and peppering kisses on the soft curve of your shoulder.
But today, he managed to come home early, and so did you. Which led to an impromptu movie night together. Still, you couldn't really focus on the movie, the dialogue coming to you like mindless chatter. You had something to suggest to Minho, and you didn't really know how he would take it.
He must have noticed that you were looking up at the ceiling, since he blew a raspberry on your stomach, prompting startled giggles from you. He smirks, before placing a small kiss on your bare skin, "what's going on in that pretty little head of yours?"
"I have something to tell you, just think about it okay? You don't have to reply now."
"Okay, tell me about it," he turns the TV off, giving you his undivided attention. It made you flustered, how he always looked at you like you were the only person that mattered on this earth.
"Well... since you moved in. I thought... why not bring your cats here in the apartment, this way you could see them more often and we could take care of them together," you start off, your rhythm accelerating with each word.
"I mean, I know it will take time for them to get used to a new place, so we could do it gradually? They could stay over for a weekend until they feel comfortable here," you start to ramble. "And you could put their toys and playhouse in the washing machine room since it's nearly empty, and we'd take turns taking care of them and I don't mind feeding them and changing their litter box when you are on tour, and I'd bring them to your parent's house because they might miss them and-"
"Honey, breathe," he chuckles and you stop, gulping. You really forgot how to breathe during your little speech.
After that, it's silent. Minho doesn't say anything, placing his head back on your stomach. Your cheeks are turning a crimson red from embarrassment, you just made a fool out of yourself, didn't you?
Your frantic train of thought is interrupted when Minho picks up your hand and starts kissing your knuckles softly. He doesn't look at you as he places chaste kisses on each of your fingertips; as if his lips meeting your skin was worthy of all his attention.
The truth is, Minho couldn't talk right now. Not because he didn't want to, but because he was afraid if he ever spoke, he wouldn't be able to stop the flow of words yearning to come out.
There are one million words in Korean, yet none of them seemed fit to express his adoration for you. He racked his brain for the right combination of words, because 'I love you' didn't cut it anymore. What he felt was more than love, it was a heart wrenching feeling in the most beautiful way.
Minho knew you loved him too, but it was in moments like this that he was reminded that you actually love him. That you were as infatuated with him as he was with you. That you thought about him just like he thought about you.
Kissing your fingertips, one at a time, he couldn't help but remember a fact he once read; there are twenty three words for love alone in Arabic. Maybe he should learn them, maybe he should learn every expression of love that was ever invented, every love poem that was written throughout history. And then he'd recite them to you, one by one. Maybe then you'd understand how you make him feel.
But he couldn't bring himself to tell you all of this, so instead, he settled on a love language that the both of you understood- touch. As his lips met your knuckles, he hoped that you'd feel it all through his kisses. That you'd know how much love he holds for you.
He finally looks up at you, his eyes holding yours in an intimate gaze. It's a while before he speaks again. "I will marry you one day, you know that right?" he whispers softly, as if it's a secret meant for the two of you alone.
Your breath hitches in your throat at his words, he wanted a forever with you?
"You mean that?" you whisper back, voice hoarse from the emotions you were barely keeping at bay.Â
"I do. Would you like that?" he asks in a small voice, as if there was a possibility you'd say no. You almost scoff at that thought; not in this life, not in the next one.
"Of course. I want to spend the rest of my life with you Min," you tell him sincerely, your eyes wide looking into his so he'd know how serious you are.
"I want... I want our cats here," he starts off, knocking the breath out of you, 'our'.
"And I want silly supermarket lists with you, that I wouldn't be able to read because your writing is shit," you both chuckle, his laugh reverberating through your entire body. You always felt it deep inside you when he laughed, as if it was a melody meant for you only to hear.
"And i want to brush my teeth with you. I want to come home and see you with the cats. I want to cook for you and I want to kiss you when I wake up and sleep," he whispers, head now buried into your chest as if he was embrassed to say those words out loud.
"And I want.. I want kids with you, I want a girl running around that looks just like you. And you'd both greet me at the door and I'd die a happy man."
Silent tears are falling out of your eyes right now, 'you'd be a good mother', he once told you. And now, he wanted you to be the mother of his kids. It felt like your heart was in his palm and that he was squeezing it with every word he said. But you didn't mind, you knew that Minho would never squeeze too far to break you. You were safe with him.Â
"Weâll have that my love, I promise," you smile, placing a sweet kiss on his head. "But i want a boy that looks like you,"you playfully pout.Â
"There could only be one me," he tsks, waving a hand in the air as if to dismiss your words.Â
"This is your son we are talking about," you laugh, your hand threading through his hair once again.Â
"Our son," he clarifies and you blush. "Yeah.. our", you repeat, a soft smile on your face and he finally looks up at you again.Â
You bop his nose with your finger playfully and he grins at the action. "So⊠does this mean you want the cats to move in?"
"Of course silly. My favorite people in one place, I can't wait."
"Cats are not people," you tease, and he rolls his eyes at your words.Â
"Details."
He then stands up, pulling you up with him. His hand gently cradles your jaw and his lips fall perfectly on top of yours; the kiss making stars swirl in front of your eyes. "I love you so much Min," you whisper in between kisses and he smiles, "I love you yn, so much more than you know."
"I know, you know, Lee Know," you joke and he pushes your face away with his finger, "Nevermind, I take my proposal back."
"No can do. You are stuck with me forever," you singsong, pulling him in for a tight hug.Â
Forever with you, he really liked the sound of that.Â

Clone^2 - Separation Strikes
"Why do I have to go?" Damian asks, surly and accent-thick, it sounds more like a demand and a whine at the same time. Sitting on the kitchen table with his arms crossed, in a green t-shirt that Danny bought him at a whim when he was at a thrift shop, and black shorts, he's never looked more like a kid. There's a little backpack leaning against the table leg, Damian begrudgingly picked it out when they went shopping.
His English has grown in leaps and bounds since Danny found him -- er, or more accurately; since Damian was spat out in front of him. -- and very little did they have to use the translator on Danny's phone these days.
Which meant one thing: Damian can start attending school comfortably now. And 'go' was the Amity Smiles Child Care Center. Danny and Jazz went as kids until they were twelve, and Mom and Dad actually managed to convince the center director to let Damian enroll for the summer.
And it was summer; Damian starts today.
"Because," Danny says, trying and failing to hide the smile pulling on his face, his heart warm and soft, and also laughing at Damian's expense; "being cooped up in the house all day isn't good for you, and you're starting school in the Fall. And, in Jazz's words: you need to have interactions with other kids your age for the benefit of your social development. And besides, it's only for the morning."
Damian's nose scrunches up, and his eyes roll so violently that for a moment, Danny thinks about joking that he'll get his eyes stuck like that. He holds his tongue; his little brother already looks like he's five seconds away from committing an act of violence.
"I don't need social interaction." Damian sneers, his cheek in his hand; a neverend pool of pride. "I am--"
"The Blood of the Demon Heir, better than everyone else." Danny cuts off, waving his hand in dismissive circles, his voice mockingly deep. Damian's brown skin darkens in embarrassment, and he scowls at Danny. "I know, bud. But Jazz is right, -- don't tell her I said that, -- you should be around kids your age."
Especially when he starts First Grade in the Fall. Honestly -- Danny was a little nervous to send him to the center. Damian's long since cut the habit of trying to kill or otherwise maim people, his palms ache-burn with gentle reminder, but his tongue was as sharp and as cutting as his sword. He still struggles with trying to quell it when he's upset. Vicious child-weapon that he once was, and will never be again.
Danny knows that it comes from a place of fear and defense, that Damian lashes out because that's what he's been taught. That at the end of the day, he doesn't really mean what he says, and he's learning to express himself better. But the other kids don't know that, and kids can be unforgiving and cruel.
Danny just...
His slow beating heart sighs, melancholy settles behind his lungs.
He doesn't want Damian to be outcasted. He doesn't want him to be alone.
Not like he was.
Damian sneers again, but says nothing, his shoulders crawling up to hide his ears like a turtle receding into his shell. Danny watches him silently, leaning against the kitchen counter with his own arms crossed. The clock hanging on the wall ticks in their ears -- it's almost time to go.
He watches Damian, careful, and so he sees it when his little brother's stone-shell pride and petulance shudders, and cracks. The darkened furrow of Damian's brows weakens, and for a moment, slants back.
Ah, Danny thinks, his own shoulders slumping. Epiphany washes over him, and his sad-heart soothes in warm understanding. So that's what it is.
His head tilts, and his hair spills over his shoulders, messy and fluffy, tickling his neck. Some of his bangs fall into his face. "Hal 'ant easabiatan ya habibi?" He asks, voice low and soft. Just as Damian's English has improved, so has Danny's Arabic. He still stumbles over himself some days, and Damian says his accent is trash, but they can have whole conversations now in Damian's mothertongue.
(Danny was incredibly proud of himself for it.)
Damian's face darkens, his blush spreading across the rest of his face, and he ducks his head down. Grown-out curls, black-brown and springy, falls over his eyes. "La!" He yells, loud and indignant, and not at all convincingly. "La 'asheur bialtawaturi!"
He was nervous. Danny can see it now, in the hunch of his shoulders and the tightness of his face, and faintly, he can feel it too. In the ecto-rich air of the Fentonworks House, it thrums, barely-there, like a hummingbird behind his lungs.
Danny can't stop the little, fond smile that forces itself across his lips and upticks the corner of his mouth. "It's okay to be nervous, little brother." He says, he sounds like Jazz when he says that. He doesn't think she'll mind him borrowing the nickname.
He pushes himself off the counter, and Damian refuses to look at him, hiding behind his hair and in his shoulders. It takes three long strides for him to reach the table, and Danny turns, plants his hands on the ledge, and hoists himself up. Right next to Damian.
Damian leans into him easily when Danny's arm wraps around his shoulders and tucks him close to his heart. He can feel his ear against his ribs. Danny hunches over him, resting his chin on Damian's head. "It's so okay to be nervous, actually. I was nervous, Jazz was nervous." He tells him, scratching the blunt edge of his nails across his scalp. "Everyone gets nervous."
"'Ana last aljumiea." Damian mumbles, as small and feeble as he was the night on the OPS Center balcony, realizing that his mom and the League weren't coming for him. Realizing that he was replaceable.
Danny's half-working heart squeezes; in grief, in rage, and his faucet eyes sting. He breathes in carefully, and presses his nose into Damian's hair in a loving faux-kiss. "You're right, you're not everyone." He says, steady and strong, because if he's not a pillar for his family, who else is he?
He can feel Damian's eyes flick up to him, and Danny smiles into his black-brown curls. Tilts his head to squish his cheek against him instead, hand dropping to thumb below Damian's lashes. "You're Damian Fenton," Because the adoption went through a few weeks ago, and he's still riding that high, "You're my baby brother. O' Artist Extraordinaire, Kickass with a Sword, Vegetarian and Wonderful Co-Ghost Hunter."
Damian tries to stifle a smile, and fails. Score! Triumph gathers in Danny's gut, his smile grows wider. He squeezes Damian tight, and only releases him so he can look him in the eyes. "And if anyone gives you a hard time at school, and I mean anyone--"
Danny has bad memories of the teachers looking the other way when the other kids were bullying him, all because he was a Fenton.
And Danny, bleeding heart, bleeding hands, loves his family more than he will ever love himself, will never let Damian experience the same injustice. Not if he can help it.
His eyes narrow, and the buzzy-film of ectoplasm covers his eyes, making them glow, "--You tell me. And as your awesome great big brother-and-technically-dad-but-only-biologically, I will handle it."
Damian, wonderfully made, full of light, his little brother Damian, giggles weakly at him. A sound that's worth it's weight in gold. The scary eyes dissipate, and Danny matches the sound with a cock-eyed, impish grin, dragging Damian into a soul-crushing, too-tight hug. The kind that only annoying older brothers can give. "Got it?"
That gets a proper, if short, laugh out of Damian. He wriggles in Danny's arms, trying to break free. But Danny does calisthenics, his arms are as big as Damian's head, so it doesn't work. "Understood, now, daeni 'adhhab ya 'akhi!"
Danny laughs, loud and bright, and loosens his hold just a smidge, only so he can adjust his grip and hop off the table with Damian still in arm.
"Never!" He crows, hoisting Damian slightly. One eye flick at the clock, and in one quick move, he secures Damian under one arm like a football, and hooks his foot under the strap of his backpack. Kicking it up, he tosses it into the air and catches it with his free hand, and slings it over his shoulder. "Now, to the car, my boy! Before we're late and Mom and Dad get charged."
Damian groans, childish and dramatic and long, but his face is all squished up with a wide grin and glee. Danny can taste his joy beneath his tongue.
"And, if my little pep talk didn't encourage you," He says, reaching the door to the garage, flipping Damian up onto his hip instead. "If you have a good day today, I'll make you bal mithai when you get back."
Like all kids at the promise of sweets, Damian's eyes widen and glitter. Danny loves seeing Damian be a kid, it's his favorite thing in the world. "I will!"

Hi!! Can I ask Damian (and maybe Dick đ?) for the character ask game?
Thank you, take care <3
@zephyrwrites2
Damian
Favorite thing about them: I just love his whole personality loll. He's a crazy, funny little guy that I think is really cool
Least favorite thing about them: Nothing. Only when he gets really mischaracterized by official writers who don't understand him, which happens A LOT
Favorite line: "Father, I imagined you taller."
Brotp: Damian and Jon
Otp: Damijon
Notp: Batcest, any of them that have adults paired up with him, including the canon ones Mar'i x Damian, Cassie x Damian, and Cassandra x Damian
Random headcanon: He can do ballet and it's because it's something Talia taught him while he was growing up in the league and being trained to learn many other things. He's a skilled professional at it now because of this and also bonds with his sister Cass over it and will sometimes even join her in her dancing. He also tries teaching Jon too, which can become fun for them both, and his other friends sometimes as well whenever they get curious or don't actually understand it that much like they think they do. Damian also owns a pair of green ballet slippers, but usually keeps them put away in his closet to keep them safe and clean and only takes them out when he really does want to use them.
Unpopular opinion: Okay sooo, a lot of people believe that Talia's character just gets only more ruined because of Damian's existence or whatever, but I don't believe that at all. Damian may be her son and is big part of her life because of it, but his character itself has nothing to do with hers like that at all when it comes to hateful writers choosing to write her horribly and just as another evil, lunatic villain and whatever else. Some people even say that he stole her story, but he did grow up with her during those 10 years of his, so of course he's gonna have the same life she dealt with and is also gonna have to get through certain issues from it now too because of it. But the point is that if anyone's gonna get blamed for Talia's usual trash characterisation, it should be the writers who hate her, NOT Damian who has many writers of his own who don't even treat him that well or like him that much at all either just like with Talia. Trying to pick on him is never going to fix anything about her. If Talia's ever gonna get anything better that she deserves in comics and other things, it needs to be done by writers who actually have care about her character and don't have anything weird against her that just only causes bad intentions of messing her up and then THAT'S what will finally start doing justice for her. And this not meant as an argument towards anyone or whatever btw, this is just me stating my opinion and beliefs about the whole thing
Song I associate with them: Self love by Metro Boomin & Coi Leray (Mostly because even though Damian may always put on a very confident act and always seems so prideful of himself a lot of the times, he actually has a lot of insecurities underneath all of that and doesn't actually always think so great of himself as a person)
Favorite picture of them: Definitely this very beautiful panel of him ofcđ
I just LOVE the way Gleb Melinkov draws him and gives him his Arab features without holding any of it back as well! He even gives him long lashes (longer than Flatline's even, which I noticed while looking at another panel from this series!), which I really love too!!
Dick
Favorite thing about them: I really always liked his leadership style, especially in the Teen Titans 2003 cartoon, which I grew up with
Least favorite thing about them: Only when he's potrayed as a dumb, clumsy guy in some canon stories just to lift up other characters and put them in a bigger spotlight instead. It makes no sense because he's a professional acrobat and always has been that way since he was a little kid, so how could he ever be so trippy all over the place as if there are invisible banana peels getting in the way everytime?! And he is very smart, especially with all of the important experience he has from his many years of hero work, so he's not dumb either and if he was, he wouldn't have made it so far with this kind of life because of it or ever get much done like he did because he has to overly depend on others knowledge
Favorite line: "Titans Go!"
Brotp: Dick and Starfire, Beast boy, Raven, Cyborg (I know he's friends with many others too, but this is the group I grew up with and am more attached to, so they're my fave to see together)
Otp: Dickkory because they bring the best out in eachother and have so much love for one another too
Notp: DickBabs because I just don't think they really fit that well together at all and most times Barbara just makes Dick feel bad in a lot of ways with how she usually treats him in a romantic relationship, and that's not a healthy thing to deal with at all. And then there's also Batcest and Slade x Dick (which I don't even get at all because Slade is just such a horrible, gross and very toxic guy)
Random headcanon: Years ago, back when he would used to have long hair still, he one time had it tied up in a ponytail and then a villain chopped it off in half while fighting him. Dick was pissed and really kicked their butt for doing that
Unpopular opinion: People always think of Dick as the positive, sunshine guy and then there are the ones who get very mad about it and say that he's actually the angry, tough guy because him being super friendly and happy is just too "ooc". I don't listen to any of that stuff, because I believe that he's actually both. He IS a friendly guy with a warm, charming, humorous attitude that easily attracts others, and is very much an inspiration to many because of his positive, sunshine vibes as a great, hardworking hero, but none of it makes him dumb, weak or gullible, because he IS also the type who can become very serious and gets mad when he needs to be, also doesn't actually take bull from anyone, can be chaotic and crazy, works a LOT, is independent, does have a lot of intelligence and especially experience that should never be forgotten about just because he's nice, and also definitely has the determined mind to take care of things and get them done even though others will sometimes try to tell him what to do, but he doesn't actually listen because he's not the type to easily be controlled that way like a puppy would be and if he believes it's something that needs the attention and it's what should be done and no one else is doing it, then he will do it
Song I associate with them: Annihilate by Metro Bommin, Swae Lee, Lil Wayne & Offset (because it's about being fearless, embracing self strength and individuality, and becoming a much more independent person, and I think that totally fits Dick because he's not the type to fear much and hates being stuck under Batman's shadow and having independence is something that always had an important role in how Dick's life goes)
Favorite picture of them: Well, I just found this pic of him, which was done by Travis Moore
It's very nice and really shows the struggle he goes through as a hero a lot of the times. Also, I really always liked the way he draws Dick, because he doesn't just look like everyone else and isn't sharing same face syndrome with his brothers and Bruce either, it's just a look that's unique to only him and it fits him very well. It's the exact way I always imagine him looking like whenever I envision him in my mind, even the hairstyle that's given to him by this artist too!!!
Thank you for sending this ask, I enjoyed answering it! And you take very good care too!! :)

Do you have any Alessi headcanons for someone desperate ?đ«Ł Too shy to come off anon to ask ..
uHHHHHHHH MAYHAps :) Thank you for the ask! Iâve been dying to write for awhile :) !
I legit donât know what I have and havenât posted yet since I havenât been on tumblr for a hot minute but uhhh uhhhhhhhh. Thereâs lore-dumps near the top, but it gets better near the end I promise
Obligatory song for my headcanon posts. Thereâs no specific reason for this song, itâs just a banger, and Iâm also trying to be very normal about Walid Toufic and not put his music for every single Alessi post
Alessiâs of Lebanese-Armenian descent, but extremely estranged from his Armenian roots due to internal family issues â mostly his father facing scorn from his intolerant side of the family for marrying an Armenian woman. Despite this, Alessi was very close with his mother and, even as a grown man, regrets not learning more from her. Of course, heâs never going to admit this, no matter how obvious it may be that he tries to pick up parts of the Armenian language and cultureÂ
Alessi was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1951, but was eventually forced out due to a civil war in 1975. Though, what gave him the final push to leave was a falling out with his siblings. With both their parents gone, his sister going off to a loveless marriage, and his brother wanting to join the war effort, Alessi loses control of Sethan during a confrontation and turns them into children. This ends up as a strange, happy accident as he would try keeping up the charade for a few days, exploiting their memory being reverted to fake a âhappy familyâ in an effort to keep the last remnants of his old life from slipping awayÂ
Things end horribly for Alessi as his siblings eventually find out and oust him from the home they all grew up in. With nothing left for him, he leaves and dedicates himself to mercenary work throughout the Middle East and Northern Africa to keep himself afloat
With fourteen years under his belt by SDC, Alessiâs considered one of the best in the region. And since heâs well-traveled, heâs proficient in a majority of the Arabic dialects, so nine times out of ten, nothing got past him in Dioâs mansion regardless of where the other assassins were from
The joke is that most Arabs donât understand North Africans, but everyone can understand Egyptians, so whenever Alessi wants to phase out of a conversation, heâll slowly change to to a dialect thatâs âfurther outâ and difficult to understand despite Levantine being his first
Since French is a secondary language in Lebanon, much more prevalent during Alessiâs time in schooling, and especially North Africa for mercenary work. He knows enough to get around like the basics, but canât read or write for shit. His little brother was easily more fluent than him, so he has a weird sort of resentment yet fondness for the language. Whatever French he knew definitely came back when he was chasing around Polnareff in the Sethan arc
Very, very curly hair, but he doesnât take care of it. Back as a kid, when he had his mom, she would help him and he was basically a puff-ball, but as an adult, he doesnât have the slightest clue on how to style it while also maintaining his hair. If you catch him when he just wakes up, or immediately after a shower, itâs seemingly perfect but then heâll proceed to douse himself in a can of hairsprayÂ
The gun he uses in SDC isnât his, itâs his late brotherâs. But going into that right now on why and how he even got it should be itâs entirely own post so â
Any endearment at all related to babe/baby will have him throwing up in his mouth. Itâs one thing to mention a child, itâs another to somehow relate it back to HIM. Honestly, Alessi doesnât read as a âhabibiâ person to me, heâs too bitter to be a âhabibiâ person. Albi and eini come much more easily to him as petnames to call someone
Heâs a sucker for trashy American television. He used to think he was above it, but now if you leave him alone for long enough, heâll put on TLC and binge whateverâs on. Although back home, he had a thing for spaghetti westerns even if they were horribly dubbed in Arabic
Adding to the Western trend, he was super into Lucky Luke comics as a kid. Since they were really popular in the Middle East, and the translated ones were produced in Egypt. Itâs definitely not a stretch that during the 80s and SDC, his grown, mercenary ass sat down to watch cartoons of his favorite cowboy. Would Alessi hog the mansionâs TV to watch Lucky Luke? Perchance. Would he stay cooped up in his Luxor hotel room to watch it? Also perchance
Tintin was popular, too, but I think I need an outside opinion on that. If a Tintin person could come back to me about this please help
Hol Horse fascinates him. Not in an admiration sort of way, but a âholyshit a real cowboyâ sort of way. To Alessi, itâs like Hol crawled out of his family television and old comic books
I donât know who it was, but I want to say back in like,, 2016ish one of the original Dioâs Fuckhouse blogs had a headcanon that Hol was actually from New England or something, but basically nowhere near âthe Wild Westâ or even the South. So the image of Alessi being interested and asking him stuff while Hol Horse is just,, sweating bullets because heâs not a âreal cowboyâ is hilarious to me
Because of what happened with his sister, Alessiâs very standoffish when it comes to love. Heâll take any chance he can get to mock touchy couples and heckle anyone that he thinks is getting âtoo intimateâ in public, but I think we all know heâs compensating for something
But the moment someone touches him or is very direct about making a move, he flusters and doesnât know what to do with himself. Cheesy pick-up lines will only embarrass him and he canât tell whether or not youâre making fun of him
Having gone through wide extremities of emotions when he was younger, and then having to suppress them all as a mercenary, Alessi wouldnât understand sensitivities. Especially since heâd have to adopt a pragmaticism in his line of work to keep himself alive â and arguably sane. Heâd get confused over someone being upset over an inconvenience that isnât âup to parâ to what he went through, but at the same time fly off the handle at small things happening to him since he bottles up all his emotions
If someone cries around him, he falls into the routine of having this initial frustration, stuffing it down to not make things worse, and eventually follow through with a weird shoulder pat â sorta like âthere, thereâ. After that, heâs clueless

Into The Unknown, Part 5
First
Previous
Tim finished up pretty quickly.
After all, all the baby toys seemed to just be different variations of each other. Some crinkle, some make sounds, some squish, some⊠do nothing at all? Tim had no clue how he used to get by as a kid.
He ended up getting Damian three toys:
A tiny rubber duck. Heâs almost completely sure that Marinette would have bought one if Tim hadnât. At least when he was the one buying it he could opt to get the Darth Vader one (Damian had always been woefully uncultured, this was his one chance to make the kid watch sci-fi without risking getting stabbed).
A plush cow with crinkly ears. He had to hope that this could maybe jog memories of Batcow and, in turn, everything else. Tim had tried to think of something a little more relevant but all he could think of were things related to Batman, to Superboy, to the League of Assassins (did their lives really revolve around vigilante-work that much?)... and, unfortunately, this reality didnât have merch that he could give the kid.
And a squishy plastic baguette. Because that was all he could think of to get back at Marinette for the duck thing.
When it came to little kid books he hesitated for just a bit before getting the basics -- stuff like animals and the letters and Spot The Dog. He wondered, vaguely, if heâd have to teach the kid numbers since they already used the Arabic numeral system. He got a book on it just in case.
Then he got a couple of books on parenting.
He checked out and then walked back to the sitting area where he was supposed to meet Marinette.
⊠she was taking forever.
He sighed quietly and skimmed through a book on parenting.
⊠oops they were supposed to breastfeed until Damian was about two. No clue what to do about that. Maybe the kid was already used to a bottle? He hoped so. Heâd watch him more carefully while Marinette was holding him to see. In the meantime, heâd get a bottle and some formula on top of the baby food theyâd been getting so far.
Alright so the kid was supposed to learn behaviors and language through observation. Good. That, hopefully, solved that problem. Tim probably would have just given the kid a textbook and said âgood luckâ. Marinette⊠he didnât really know what Marinette would have done, but the woman wasnât a teacher as far as he could tell and asking her to teach the kid properly was a little unfair.
Babies around his age are supposed to speak in something called⊠protowords? Like⊠a baby language? Damn, he has a miraculous and it seemingly allows him the power to understand every language but apparently âbaby-speakâ didnât count as a language. Tim called bullshit.
He felt a weight settle down on the bench next to him and absently glanced over.
Marinette sent him a slightly tired smile. She was wearing a new, dark red scarf.
He opened his mouth to say something only to have her shake her head and adjust her scarf a little to show him something.
Ah. It looked like Damian had fallen asleep on her shoulder so sheâd fashioned the scarf into a makeshift baby sling.
âCouldâve used the stroller,â he whispered, setting his receipt in the book to mark his page.
She snorted. âAnd risk waking him? He cries every time he wakes up, Iâm not dealing with that right now.â
He bit his lip. âYou know⊠this book says heâs supposed to cry for, like, an hour to an hour and a half a day.â
She tipped her head to the side a little. âHeâs cried like⊠three times.â
âYeah, and he was really easy to shut up. Decidedly not normal.â
They looked back down at Damian, identical frowns on their faces.
âDoes it have an explanation for why heâd be like this?â Marinette asked, her voice soft.
Tim hesitated.
âThe only reasons I can think of are that he doesnât think weâd help him if he cried or he thinks crying is something heâd be punished for. Considering how he was raised⊠it could be either. Or both.â
~
Marinette yawned as she sat back on the hotel bed. She leaned back against Tim, leaving him to bear the weight of both her and Damian.
He, to his credit, barely even blinked. He turned slowly until they were both leaning back against each other.
She tipped her head back to rest on his shoulder.
She could fall asleep like this, she thought. Propped against Tim. Damian, in her arms, watching an episode of something called True and the Rainbow Kingdom⊠it was nice.
Or, at least, it would be if Tim could stop that infernal tapping.
âUgh, could you stop that? Some people actually sleep.â
He gave a tiny puff of laughter that acknowledged that he heard her but, alas, he continued typing.
She groaned a little and reached a hand behind herself to give him a tiny bap to his side.
âHm. This may shock you, but hitting me really hasnât helped your case.â
She huffed and twisted around to try and see over his shoulder. Sheâd given up on sleeping, anyway.
âWhat are you even doing?â
He shrugged just slightly. âTrying to figure out what to do about money.â
She nodded slowly, looking over his shoulder as he scrolled through jobs they could do with zero experience or degrees. That could sustain a family of three and pay for the daycare they would have to take Damian to. The options... werenât great.
Damian tugged on her shirt for her attention and she looked down as he pointed at his screen with a bright smile. There was a black cat on the screen. She didnât really know what he wanted until he kept saying âmaâ over and over. She nodded and said âcatâ in both Arabic and English, which seemed to sate him as he went back to watching⊠the giant green yeti monster stealing a basket of candy? What the fuck was even going on on this show? Were kidsâ shows like this in her own world, too? Or was this oneâs shows just especially weird?
A thought occurred to her and she looked back over at Tim.
âYou exist in this world, right?â
He nodded absently and opened a tab that, despite its claim that it was an entry level job, apparently required two years of experience and a degree. He closed it quickly.
âWhy don't we just mooch off of the other you?â
Tim sighed. âBecause thatâs illegal?â
âYouâre a vigilante. I donât think that âborrowingâ money from your alternate self is where you should draw the line on illegal activities.â
âI draw the line when it harms innocent people.â
She laughed at that. âHeâs rich. Itâs not like heâs going to miss it. Think of it as⊠giving the money to people who need it.â
âYouâre a regular robin hood,â Tim said sarcastically.
âI know. Iâm so kind,â she agreed, grinning.
There were a few moments of silence.
Then, finally, he shook his head. âEven if we could somehow do that -- which I canât guarantee because Iâm not completely sure I could guess my passwords -- the fact that weâre in Texas⊠heâd notice.â
She shrugged. âThen letâs move back to Gotham.â
He blinked and finally looked up from the computer. âWhat?â
âWe donât have much of a life here, really, so why not move?â
He considered this for a while before sighing and flopping back on the bed. âLet me see if I can even get into the account. Thereâs nothing to say that I even have the same social security number here...â
She nodded her understanding and laid back next to him. Damian whined a little at the sudden displacement but just ran a hand up and down his back absently until he was watching his show again, completely silent as he stared at the screen. Now the main girl was reaching into her bag for a weird orb of light that was, apparently, sentient. Was this the Dora of their world? God help their children.
Speaking of helping their children...
She picked up a parenting book to read while Tim tried to guess his otherworldly counterpartâs passwords.
~
Tim managed to get in.
He rested his head in his hands, cursing quietly.
She glanced over and smiled at his slightly flushed face.
âWhat was the password?â
He grumbled under his breath.
This only seemed to encourage her more because she started nudging his shoulder, the soft smile morphing into a cheeky grin.
He sighed and took a moment to gather himself before looking over at her. âItâs⊠â<3Richard<3graysons<3little<3brother<3â.â
â... I donât get it.â
âGood. So you canât tease me about it,â he said, sticking his tongue out at her.
She scoffed. âThatâs not fair.â
âTotally is.â
He set the computer down beside himself and stretched his achy old bones. Heâd had a baby for approximately two days now and he could already feel the bad back setting in. Tomorrow he would have gray hair.
âIâm going to look it up if you donât tell me.â
â... heâs a celebrity,â Tim said quietly.
Her grin wavered back towards that genuine smile for just a second before spreading into an even wider grin. She reached out and pinched his cheeks. âAwwww, Tim, thatâs so cute --!â
âShut up,â he complained, batting her hands away.
She snickered. âNo. Iâm going to write that password on your tombstone.â
âYouâre assuming Iâm going to die first.â
âI have an extended lifespan. Youâre only going to have that for another fifteen years. After that? Unless Iâm really stupid youâre gonna die first.â
He rolled his eyes. âIâm going to find out how to be immortal now. Purely to spite you.â
She snorted. âOkay. Good luck with that.â
âThank you.â
With that, he pushed himself up with a groan. âIâm going to get him ready for bed.â
She nodded her understanding and continued with her reading.
Damian whined a little when Tim tried to take him away from where he had curled up next to Marinette but that seemed to be more because he was tired and cranky than genuine distress.
Tim was the one to bathe him. It wasnât a bubble bath, he wasnât eager to repeat the previous nightâs mistakes, but he did give Damian the rubber duck. This seemed to work for all of them, since Damian now allowed them to take him out of the bath as long as he got to bring his duck.
Marinette grinned when she looked over at where Damian was chewing on his rubber duck as Tim struggled to click the annoyingly difficult buttons of the onesie into place.
âTold you he would love it.â
âWe both know that wasnât why you wanted to get it.â
âAnd we both know you didnât get that squishy bread-thing just because you thought he would like it, either.â
He smiled. âMaaaaaybe.â
The onesie finally allowed itself to be buttoned and Tim picked Damian up so he could get into bed.
Marinette frowned. âThis book says we shouldnât let him sleep with us every night. Says it creates a bad habit thatâs hard to break.â
Tim raised an eyebrow at her but, reluctantly, carried the kid over to the crib so they could sleep separately.
âFine. But Iâm going to sleep before him so I donât stress out all night.â
She snickered. âFine. Fine.â
He climbed into bed, set a pillow between them, and promptly dozed off before he could get woken up by Damian whimpering through the night.
⊠Tim woke up a few hours later -- his body wasnât quite used to sleeping through nights just yet -- to find that Marinette had brought the kid into bed with them again.
He smiled a little and moved the pillow out from between them. Even if Damian was currently too trapped in Marinetteâs arms to even reach it, it was best to make sure it couldnât happen.
Damian whimpered a little in his sleep again and Tim tipped his head to the side. He reached over and gently combed his fingers through the fuzzy little tufts of hair that the kid had so far. Damian relaxed.
Tim sighed and shifted in the bed until he was closer to Damian, then maneuvered through Marinetteâs mess of limbs to press a tiny kiss to the top of his head. The baby smiled in his sleep and, though the kid couldnât see it, he returned the smile. He rested an arm around the kid as well in hopes that it would keep the kid feeling safe before allowing himself to drift off.

Snowmen and Assassins - Older!Damian Wayne x Fem!Reader
Summary: This is Y/Nâs first Christmas among the League of Assassins but a monastery of deadly assassins is maybe not the right place to celebrate this winter tradition.Â
Authorâs note: Bat-Christmas Day 12 ;-) Damian in this story is highly inspired by Batman beyond! Damian as he took his grandfatherâs place as leader of the League of Assassins. And I will fight anyone who doesnât believe Adult Damian will be the most devoted boyfriend to ever exist. (#assassinprincecharming)
Tagged: 100% Fluff
Sitting at the candlelit desk that used to belong to his grandfather, working on a personal project that could not wait, Damian Wayne could hear the unclear yet outraged groans and growls of his counsellor â whose name was Zeh-Ro - echoing outside of the door. He was clearly angry but it was nothing new or surprising.   Lately, and especially since Damianâs reconciliation with his father and your arrival in the Himalayan monastery, the old white-haired man had taken the rude habit to question Damianâs every decision as leader of the League of Assassin in ways that were highly inappropriate for a man of his status. Of course this misplaced attitude was never welcomed or tolerated by the young leader, and each tantrums had all encountered either a stone-cold stoicism or a burning rage. A type of reaction Damian had inherited from his father, Bruce.       âThis is highly unacceptable!â Damian sighed, fully aware that his bodyguard, Koru, would not be able to prevent Zeh-Ro from entering his private quarters any longer. âLet me see him!â The heavy wooden door suddenly burst open, making all the soft dancing flames shudder, almost in panic, as if they were aware of the incoming wrath. âWhat is wrong, Zeh-Ro?â  âThis woman ⊠This woman is a disgrace! How dares she?!â The red of his angry face was clashing with the whiteness of his dishevelled hair, a scarlet colour only Y/N and her light-hearted shenanigans could give him. âIâm sure whatever Y/N did it is not that terrible.â Damian declared with a discreet amused smirk. âNot that terrible? Not that terrible?â The old man repeated almost out of breath. âThat woman has a knack of bringing shame to herself ⊠and to ourselves ⊠and to our cause. To you. She is a foreign child who knows nothing of our culture, nothing of our traditions. I said it before and I say it again. Her place is not here!â Damian put what he was doing in the drawer of his desk that he slammed almost violently and stood up. But not even his menacing eyes or his towering stature seemed to frighten Zeh-Ro who kept mumbling his anger at him. âYour grandfather would have never approved of her! The league does not approve of her! This silly infatuation needs to end and it needs to end now!â  âNo.â Zeh-ro eyes widened suddenly. He had expected more that a single word. He had expected more consideration, even more anger. âNo?â Damian didnât bother to repeat and smoothly close the gap between him and his counsellor in an attempt to establish his undeniable authority on him.      âAnd from now on I would not tolerate you interfere in my privacy. My love life is none of your concern Zeh-ro, nor is Y/N.â      âBut sheâŠâ Damian cut him short, tired of hearing and seeing the man. âI will hear no more. Now leave.â Fortunately, he beat a retreat and exited the room while muttering insults in Arabic that Damian chose to ignore. He had other matters to take care of.      Only when the man finally was out of sight, did the leader of the league choose to relax and lose his aggressive austerity. âWill he ever learn?â He asked Koru who almost allowed himself to smile. âIâm afraid not, master.â Damian sighed again and put on his long green kimono that he carelessly knotted around his strong waist. âWhat has Y/N done again?â   â I believe it is better for you to see it, master.â
***
In spite of the cashmere gloves you were wearing, your hands were red and freezing just as your cheeks and the tip of your nose. Unsurprising since you had been spending the afternoon playing in the snow with the few children of the league who had been bold enough to follow you in your shenanigans. Â Â Not that it had been your goal all along. In fact, you had never thought about asking anyone to follow you in your âNot so top-secret Christmas mission â as you had named it when the little rascals had found you baking Christmas cookies in the kitchen this morning and curiously asked what you were up to. Â Â Â Â Â Before that, you had just planned to bake for your lover and decorate a Christmas tree in your shared quarters, away from prying eyes, perfectly aware of the fuss your silly little actions would cause if anyone caught you trying to celebrate Christmas. Â Â Â Â But then, the children had simply said, âWeâve never celebrated Christmas.â with their little eyes shining with sadness. Â Â Â
And so here you were. Building snowmen right under the noses of mighty assassins glaring at you as if you were committing the most awful crime in the world. Â Their reactions had hurt you at first, just as many other things they had done â or hadnât done- since your arrival in the monastery in spite of all your relentless attempts at fitting in. But then you had realised that they should not matter and that you should focus only on the magic, on the happiness of the children by your side occasionally fighting with snowballs and acting - maybe for the first time of their life - as who they truly were, kids.
âBeloved?â You slightly jumped and dropped the small little stone carefully chosen to be the left eye of your snowman on the ground. âDamian.â You didnât know how to react. Usually, Damian was always there to defend you, finding excuses to all the times your attitude wasnât appreciated or approved by the league. But there was a difference between forgetting to remove your shoes at the entrance of Raâs Al Ghulâs temple and celebrating an occidental tradition in a monastery of assassins. Maybe had you gone too far this time. âWhat are you doing?â     âLook⊠I know this looks bad. But itâs my first winter here, my first Christmas away from my family and I thought âŠâ      âThat you could celebrate it here.â He looked so serious you couldnât tell if he was mad at you or if he simply was tired of you not being âthe right paramourâ for him â a term Damianâs counsellor had spit to your face quite a few times. âI get that I might have gone too far this time. I can stop if thatâs what you want.â
Damian knelt to pick the little black stone you had dropped and suddenly, much to your surprise and to those around you, placed it on your snowmanâs face. âBy all means, continue.â And with a gentle timid smile, he turned around to where he came from. You blinked quite a couple of times; unable to believe what you had just seen or to demonstrate all the happiness this small action had given you.      But then you gasped as a huge snowball hit Damian right in the back of his head. âGod damn âŠâ He cursed more out of surprise than out of pain and turned back around with a glare you had never seen. Your eyes widened and you looked at the terrorised children who were all pointing at the culprit. Guess boldness and courage had their limits. âHow dare you throw a snowball at the Demonâs Head? And behind his back?â He growled, definitely angry and the poor children looked down, petrified. âI guess someone has to teach you how to play fairly.â Â
And then a snowball hit your shoulder, making you scream loudly. âAhhhâ But then you saw that Damian was laughing like you had never heard him laugh before. And goodness, how contagious it was. âYouâre going to pay for this!â You harrumphed trying to remove the snow from inside your coat. âChoose your partners, kids. This battle is to death.â
***
âI let you win.â Damian declared as he removed his thick leather boots once in your quarters. âPlus you had better partners. Mine were all incompetent. I scored all the points myself.â    âOf course, Dami. Of Course.â You smiled and removed your wool coat to place it by the fireplace where you chose to stay a little to enjoy its welcome warmth after this cold afternoon outside.    âYou know. Youâre starting to show, beloved.â Damian said as he approached you to lovingly hug you from behind and kiss your neck, his strong hands on your slightly round belly that were keep a four-months little secret no one knew about yet. âYeah. We wonât be able to keep hiding it for too long.â You put your hands on Damianâs, adoring his sudden proximity and his devotion to you and to your little one growing inside of you. âI guess thatâs gonna make some people boil over.â      âWho cares?â He kissed your temple and let his soft lips remain on your skin just to smell its perfume. You let go in his embrace, wondering how this loving man could be the leader of such a deadly organisation. Speaking of deadly organisation ⊠ âBy the way, thank you for this afternoon, for defending me again. I know it often undermines you especially in Zeh-Roâs eyes.â You heard Damian sigh and tense a little before turning you around to face him. âBeloved, when will you realise I do not care about what Zeh-Ro thinks, about what anyone thinks? Iâm happy to defend you. At least it shows them that I am not my grandfather and that they canât expect me to be him.â â But âŠâ You tried to protest and he gestured you to be quiet with a finger on your lips. âNo buts. I love all the things you do here. I love all the love you bring to this place, to me. And I want out child to experience it. I donât want him to live the joyless loveless childhood I lived.â You smiled at his words but your eyes reflected the sadness he had in his. You knew about his past, about Talia and Raâs and all the things they made him go through, the exhausting relentless and abusive trainings and the heavy burden they had placed on his young shoulders when he was just a little boy. And so you cupped his cheek and softly kissed him in on tiptoe, keeping his broad body against yours that seemed so tiny and fragile in comparison to his. Though, the most fragile person in this room right now was him.        âI have something for you, beloved.â Damian said as he slowly let go of you for a moment to take something he had left in his desk. âI hope youâll like it.â
You slightly shook the box he had just given you, curious to know whatâs inside. âYou know itâs not Christmas yet.â Â âI know. Itâs not really a Christmas giftâ You narrowed your eyes trying to read in his what he was hiding from you. âJust open it.â He chuckled and you grinned, your hands already tearing the wrapping up. It was a wooden small box. âYouâre not asking me to marry you, are you?â You asked cheekily and Damian laughed. âNot yet.â He smirked but you chose to ignore it for now, too excited to know what was in the box.
It was a beautiful Christmas tree star, certainly made of crystal judging by how fragile and translucent it looked, and definitely very ancient. âDamian, itâs beautiful.â âYou like it?â âI love it!â You corrected as you delicately touched it with your fingertips. âGood. Cause thereâs a Christmas tree in the main hall that is waiting for it.â He looked at your eyes brighten instantly and as beautifully and brightly as the star you were holding, glad he could finally make you feel at home as much as you could make him feel at home. âMerry Christmas, beloved.â Â âMerry Christmas, Damian.â Â Â Â Â Â Merry Christmas, indeed.Â

you reap what you sow
prompt from @mialuvscats : i hope this meets your expectations ! im sorry this took so long, i tried uploading it from my phone but it glitched and i could only get my hands on the computer todayÂ
iâd like to say that i think if sabine and mari are there, damian and talia willl be relatively looser and not as uptight . mari and sabine are cold but loving and sunshiney. they keep talia and damian in check, essentially. which is why i wrote them in to be loose and free but able to be openly happy when they want to be, even if they are only happy around each other.
with sabine here i also thinkt hat talia will be slightly easier on damian, which also ties to the fact that he will not be as cold and uptight.
talia will be a good mother in this fic bc i want her to be and itll be ooc but its okay its my fic anyway
and the timeline is kinda messed up and all over the place sorry
that aside, have fun reading and i hope you enjoy!

talia and sabine are best friends, and before most of the class joins francois, marinette ruled the school after coming to paris with sabine. mari and damian are betrothed and the two are best friends. they can be icy one minute and sunshiney the next, although the sunshiney part is more mari than damian.
maybe the waynes come to paris, bc if theyre in gotham the others wont really know if the queen is back, and theyre kinda unsure why marinette is being timid and very unlike her ice queen demeanor she sometimes uses. mari is closest to jason in terms of batfam because firstly maybe she cleanses jason of the lazarus pit after helping damian using tikki's creation magic to counteract plagg's destruction one. since the waynes are here theres no point in mari hiding her queen status anymore and queue lila reveal
-
Talia al Ghul and Sabine Cheng were an unlikely combination, but worked perfectly well.
The two women were extremely close. Sabine was almost as deadly as Talia, but she made up for it with her devious mindset. She was the one who steered Talia away from doing anything wrong --well more wrong than usual-- and the one who was assigned to dish out punishments to usurpers.
The two could read each other like open books, and hence, when both Talia and Sabine became pregnant, Talia one month before Sabine, the two knew immediately.
They had debated whether or not to have their kids be betrothed, and eventually decided to let their children make the final call when their kids were old enough to understand.
Nine months later, Marinette and Damian were born. In the League infirmary, an hour after the two were cleaned and left there to rest while their mothers did the same, the two had already grown rather close.
Their baby cribs were next to each other, and somehow they were staring at each other through the walls of the crib, and were making small grabby hands to the other.
When Talia and Sabine were sufficiently rested and came to pick up their children, they were slightly shocked, yet gratified by their children. Sabine smiled and draped an arm around Taliaâs shoulder, smiling lazily.
âI guess theyâll be as close as their mothers, non?âÂ
Talia smirked, and the two walked forwards, lifting their respective children in their arms and walking to their quarters.
-
The two mothers did not regret it. Their kids were enamoured with each other, practically joined at the hip.
By the time Marinette and Damian were 5, they had a very extensive vocabulary, since they had learned to speak Arabic, French and English. They were also extremely smart and skilled with weapons.Â
Marinette was extremely adept at using a yoyo. It seemed weird, I know. But when the League was stormed when she was 3, she had taken out 4 men with her yoyo alone. Since then, she had been teaching herself how to use the yoyo effectively.
Damian preferred to use a katana. He looked much scarier than Marinette, even if the two were the same age. He had found a natural talent in using blades, knives, katanas and daggers included.
Marinette was the Rain to Damianâs Fire.Â
She was the only one who could calm Damian down when he was mad, mad.
But make no mistake, Marinette could switch personalities in a heartbeat. She was one of the Leagueâs most skilled interrogators at the age of 5.
After all, who would suspect a pigtailed 5 year old in pink to be scary?
Damian much preferred his stoic and icy attitude. The only people he ever let loose around was Marinette, Sabine, and Talia.
Talia and Sabine loved the children to an almost deadly extent, and the four were extremely overprotective of each other.
Marinette had taken to magic as well. She had been trained by many people in the League about sensing magic. Damian did not have the patience for magic and rituals.Â
Marinette knew Damian was more of a âattack first ask questions laterâ type of fighter, a stark contrast to Marinetteâs âi will curse you and you will suffer in agonising pain for the rest of your lifeâ preferred type of fighting.
Sheâd never really liked getting her hands dirty, hence the magic. Killing people with magic was so much cleaner.
Sabine and Marinette had to leave for Paris when she was 9. For what, she wasnât sure, but regardless of the distance, she and Damian constantly traded calls and letters. They would never go even a day without contact.
They were staying with one of Sabineâs old friends. His name was Tom Dupain, and he was an old wrestler and had worked with the League before. He and Sabine pretended to be married and Marinetteâs name had hence became Marinette Dupain Cheng.
Damian and Talia stayed at the League, although all of them knew that Damian was to meet his birth father when he turned 10.
Marinette adapted her icy demeanor in Paris, never wanting anyone to get as close as she was with Damian.Â
A few hours in, walking around Paris, she had met an elderly man in a red Hawaiian shirt, emitting the aura of magic. She had confronted him, and eventually, he opened up to her about the Miraculous. Tikki, the Ladybug kwami, and Plagg, the Black Cat kwami had taken a liking to her.
Marinette was apparently something called a True User, a reincarnation of the first Ladybug miraculous wielder. Plagg just rather liked the aura of death and chaos she apparently gave off, from the League.
She and the other Kwamis also had a rather amicable relationship, and sheâd go to the ends of the Earth for the tiny gods, and vice versa.
The elderly man, named Fu, had also started to train her into becoming the new Guardian of the Miraculous.
Before, Marinette had been planning on laying low and not drawing atention to herself, but once she had beaten up two upperclassmen for bullying her classmate and somewhat accquaintance Nino, she had been fiercely regarded by both the students and faculty.Â
As a result, she eventually grew close to Nino, and his friends, Kim, Alix and Chloe. She only ever let down her icy demeanour around them, showing the bright and bubbly girl persona she kept hidden. She wasnât as close to them as she was to Damian, but they were all still quite close friends.Â
It wasnât long after that Marinette became the queen of her school, at the tender age of 10, earning her title as the Ladybug. Or, as Chloe liked to put it, the Lady, because she was lucky enough to âget a friend like herâ.
Marinette didnât protest. She rather liked Ladybugs, and besides, it was ironic and it reminded her a little of Damian, who sometimes liked to call her his Maribug. Because she was sometimes a pest, he deadpanned. Marinette had whacked him with a pillow.Â
Everyone in the school feared the Ladybug. No one knew anything of her past. She was a mystery, an enigma that no one could solve. When new students came in after Marinette turned 14, everyone was slightly shocked to see their Lady change.
She was much more bubbly and approachable. Word had spread around that Marinette, the Lady, was trying a clean slate for the new kids. After all, not everyone should fear her.
Probably.
School eventually returned to what it was like before Marinette became the Lady, although she did still rule the school, she did it much more subtly, with more restraint and secrecy.
One of the new kids, Alya, had taken a liking to her. Marinette did not like her very much, she was loud and clingy and drew a lot of unwanted attention.Â
Marinette and her old crew, who had playfully called themselves her Consorts before the name stuck, had split up temporarily, to cover more ground and spread their branches.
Chloe was to pretend to be Marinetteâs bully, Kim and Alix rivals, and Nino a shy recluse. They had had a good laugh about it beforehand, before watching Moana, because Kim wanted to compare the size of his muscles to Mauiâs.
None of them had accounted for Adrien Agreste, who had tried to get the gum off Marinetteâs seat like the naive, sheltered boy he was. Marinette had admittedly gotten mad at him for screwing up a perfectly good plan, before ramping up her ice persona to like, a 2/10, to get the newbies off her scent and scare Adrien away.
It hadnât worked, because the boy was apparently as stubborn as he was naive. But besides that, Alya had been really grating on Marinetteâs nerves, especially since she was convinced that Marinette had a crush on the model. It was not true, of course.Â
Honestly, Marinette thought dryly, as Alya dragged her all over the place to.. somewhere, she wasnât even sure anymore. But frankly, she didnât particularly care. Honestly, the only boy sheâd probably ever have a crush on would be Damian.
Not that sheâd ever admit it.
-
When Marinette and Damian turned 10, she and Sabine had taken a plane to Gotham to meet up with Damian.
Damian had not been having a good time. He was very much unwanted here, that was clear.Â
Grayson seemed to be the only one trying to interact with him. His father, had been trying his best to stay out of Damianâs way, which he reciprocated. Todd was flat out ignoring him and Drake just seemed to be busy all the time.
After all, who would want to interact with a grumpy 10 year old assassin?
He missed Marinette.
It was the day Todd finally tried to open up to Damian, that Marinette had arrived. No one had told him that she was finally meeting him again for the first time in a year. Sabine had left Marinette to figure out where Damian was on her own. She was more than capable of it.
With a quick scrying spell, she found him, and Kaalki opened a portal headed in the direction of Wayne Manor.
Meanwhile, Damian just appreciated the fact that Todd was finally extending an olive branch. He was lonely.
It hurt seeing his father care for everyone in the manor apart from him.
He had been walking along the gardens in the manor. Todd had joined him.
âListen, I know itâs hard to feel accepted here. Sometimes, I do.â Jason gazed wistfully at the sky above him.
Damian was unsure of where the ex-Robin was getting at, so he just kept quiet. It wasnât as if Damian didnât know who Jason Todd was. Before he had come to the manor with Talia, he had read the Waynesâ files. In addition, Damian had known of Jason while he was affiliated with the League. They had never talked, or interacted, but he had known of the elder boy.Â
âI just, uh, wanted you to know that if you ever need anything, you can come to me.â He finished lamely, running a hand in his hair.
Damian opened his mouth, then closed it, hesitating. âThank you, Ja--Todd. I will.â He settled on saying dryly.
Jason visibly relaxed and cracked a miniscule smile. There was a sudden âswooshâ sound, and both Jason and Damian turned around, bodies automatically going on the defensive.
Stumbling out of Alfredâs rose bushes, trodding on a few accidentally, was Marinette.
âAngel!â Damian exclaimed, moving forwards to help her forwards.
She brushed her shoulders off, looking around before freezing, staring at something behind him.
âJay?â
âPixie?â He asked, sounding incredulous.
Marinette rushed forward and wrapped him in a tight embrace. Jason laughed and hugged her back, chuckling.
Damian quashed down the bubbling feeling of rage in the pit of his stomach and settled for casting a frosty glance in their direction. Not that they noticed, since they were too busy embracing each other, Damian thought scornfully.
The two pulled apart after too long in Damianâs opinion, laughing.
âAngel? How do you know Todd?â Damian asked coldly, ever so protective.
If Jason noticed the sudden reversion to his surname instead of his first, he didnât say anything.
âOh, he came to Paris with Lia once and I cleansed him of the Lazarus pit madness, like I did with you.â She replied.
âWhat are you doing here?â Jason asked. Damian had forgotten about that.
âVisiting, of course!â She winked. âNow, letâs give your old man a good scare.â She pecked Damian on the cheek before vanishing. (Thanks, Trixx.)
Jason and Damian looked to each other. âDid you know she could do that?â Jason questioned. Damian shook his head before pausing.
âWait.. how did she get into the manor?âÂ
The only response was the faint echo of a laugh.
-
It was time for dinner anyway, and only Damian, Jason, and Alfred knew of Marinetteâs presence. Marinette had voluntary evelaed herself to the elderly butler after noticing his aura.Â
It was Miraculous tainted. If Marinette could guess, he had been either one of Duusuâs, Sassâs, or Noorooâs.
When the butler had retired to the kitchen alone, Marinette had unraveled Trixxâs magic veiling her and waved at the butler.
To hi credit, he didnât so much as bat an eye before his eyes widened as he took her in. Marinette cut to the chase.
âWho was your kwami?â Alfred had surveyed her for a second before seemingly trusting her. Â
âDuusu.â He answered.
Marinette smiled. âIâm Tikkiâs.â From her perch in Marinetteâs left pigtail, the red Kwami pried open the folds of her hair, waving once at Alfred before sinking back into the recesses of the bluenetteâs locks.
Alfred blinked. Once. Twice. âIâm presuming youâre staying for dinner?â
Marinette beamed. âIâm gonna scare the big bat.â Alfred nodded, accepting this. Marinette clapped her hands and she disappeared again. Alfred shook his head, smiling faintly.
Conveniently, it was one of the times where everyone was there. Dick, Jason, Tim, and Damian. Rare these days, what with Dick in Bludhaven, Tim at WE, and Jason off being Jason.
Bruce was currently on his way back from WE, although it would take around half an hour. He had told everyone to start eating first. Perfect.Â
After Marinetteâs encounter with Alfred, she had reappeared in Damianâs room, where she and Damian caught up. Just like old times.
She had disappeared again once she left the room, and Damian wasnât entirely sure where she went.
Alfred set the the table as per normal, which Damian and Jason noticed right away. They looked to Alfred, who merely winked before stepping back into the kitchen and laying out the food.
There was a screech of a chair as Marinette, disguised as Bruce (Trixx in her right pigtail and Tikki in the left) sat down. Dick looked startled.Â
âI thought you wouldnât be back till later!â Dick exclaimed.
Mari-Bruce shrugged. âFaster than Iâd expected.â She answered, securing the veil of Trixxâs magic around her vocal chords, making her voice sound exactly like Bruceâs.
Jason inched away slightly from Bruce, though she pretended not to notice.
Alfred nodded at her as he reentered the room.
Everyone dug in, occasionally talking. It had been about 25 minutes before the sound of the door opening could be heard. Damian and Jasonâs head shot up, thinking it was Marinette.
Mari-Bruce smirked. Showtime.
Bruce entered the room, not noticing Mari at first. Until the batboys gaped at him. He looked confused. What--?
Mari-Bruce was a pretty great actress. âWho are you?â She thundered, internally laughing.
âWho are you? Iâm Bruce Wayne.â He answered, looking befuddled and frustrated.
âImpostor.â Mari-Bruce accused.Â
Bruce spluttered. âNo! Iâm the real Bruce!âÂ
Mari-Bruce scoffed. âThatâs what an impostor would say.â
Damian and Jason seemed to figure it out, although they probably werenât sure which Bruce was the real one yet.
Tim rubbed his eyes. âAm I seeing double, or?âÂ
Bruce said, âAsk me something the real Bruce would know.â
Dick looked torn, but did as requested. âWho murdered your parents?â
âJoe Chill.â They both said at the same time. Mari-Bruce and Bruce winced, selling the act.
âWhenâs my birthday?â Tim asked.Â
âJuly 17th.â Both Bruces answered.
Tim looked surprised. âYou actually know my birthday?â
âNo shit, Tim.â Mari-Bruce said, rolling their eyes. She rather wanted to proceed to the next part of her plan.Â
âWould I say that to you, Tim?â Bruce asked slightly desperately.Â
âMaybe?âÂ
Bruce facepalmed. In the confusion, Mari took the chance to slink into the shadows where she rewrapped Trixxâs invisible magic around her.
Only Damian noticed. He smirked. âWhere did he go?â He asked, placing a hand on the hilt of his katana for emphasis. He didnât see Marinette smile at him.
Everyone looked panicked. âSearch the manor.â Bruce ordered.
Jason still looked slightly skeptical but did as he said. Damian drew his katanas and tilted it in the direction he was going.
Amongst everyone, Bruce was the most attacked. While Jason and Damian paired off, Tim and Dick did as well, ("Donât go alone!â Was Bruceâs admonished cry), Bruce had gone alone.Â
If she were being honest, Marinette had always had a grudge against the billionaire. He hadnât saved his son, he had tried to kill his son, even though he had a no killing rule --which Marinette thought was plain stupid--, and he had left Damian to suffer at the hands of Raâs Al Ghul.
Talia could only do so much to save her son.
Yes, Marinette was aware that Bruce hadnât know Damian existed, but now he was still treating Damian as if he didnât exist. Marinette knew how much Damian craved affection, even if he never admitted it.
Yes, maybe Bruce was getting better, but maybe she could.. spur the process.
So Marinette retaliated in one of the many ways she knew how.
Messing with them.
So when the Waynes regrouped in the dining room, Jason, Damian, Dick and Tim came back unharmed, and Jason had been filled in by Damian of his suspicions. But Bruce?Â
He came back covered in honey and feathers, drenched with water and covered in pink slime.Â
âWhy is he going after me?â Bruce had questioned in that annoying voice of his, after looking over his spotless sons.
Jason shrugged. âMaybe he doesnât like you. God knows heâs not the only one.âÂ
Bruce looked slightly hurt but Jason didnât seem to care in the slightest.
âMaybe this person is infatuated with you and is vying for your attention.â Damian deadpanned dryly. Marinette had smacked him on the back of his head, still invisible.
But the damage had been done.
Bruce snapped his fingers and âaha!â-ed at Damian. âThat must be it!â Bruce crowed.
âAre you that narcissistic, you arrogant plebeian?â Marinetteâs normally cheery voice was dry and dripping with distaste as she unwrapped her magic.
Bruce, Dick and Tim immediately went on the defensive, shifting into a battle stance. Marinette only scoffed.
âIf I wanted to harm you, I would have already done so.â Marinette waved a hand in their direction dismissively.
Dick looked confused. âYouâre like, ten.â He pointed out.
Damian glared. âI am ten as well, Grayson.âÂ
Tim butted in. âAre we not going to acknowledge the fact that this tiny ten year old broke into the manor unnoticed?âÂ
That brought everyone to their senses.
They were suddenly surprised by Marinette running at Jason, full speed. They expected him to duck or whip out a weapon, but all he did was stand still as she flipped in midair to land on his shoulders.
To their utter shock, Jason grinned, even as she fisted her hands in his hair for a better grip.
Damian only smiled fondly at his Angel. She was as short as he remembered, Damian noted.Â
He missed her. More than anything.
Marinette beamed, and slid off Jasonâs shoulders.
âWhy did you attack me?â Bruce asked. âIsnât it obvious, fool?â Marinette revamped her icy demeanor and glared at the civilian Batman. âI despise you.â
Bruce looked very affronted. But Mariinette ignored him, even as he continued talking and made her way over to Damian.
âDamibear!â Marinette sang, as if she hadnât seen him less than an hour ago.
The Waynes looked as if they expected Damian to attack her just for calling him that. They were not expecting him to grin and say, âAngel.â
Mari jumped on his back, and Damian merely repositioned himself accordingly, used to this from all her previous piggybacks.
âOkay so Jason and Damian helped her get into the manor.â Tim deduced, only to notice Jason and Damian shaking their heads.
âAll by herself.â Damian and Jason chorused. Marinette made bunny ears on top of Damianâs head.
She kissed Damianâs forehead lovingly, replying to his âi am older than youâ with a âyeah by like a weekâ, and looked to his family.Â
She winked.
Then disappeared.
There was silence, and then, âWait, we didnât even get her name!â From Dick.
Damian and Jason were interrogated that night, and they refused to tell them anything related to Marinette.
Marinette smiled from where she had hidden in the shadows, and made her way back to Damianâs room. She curled up in Damianâs bed, drifting into sleep. She was almost asleep when Damian returned.
And when Damian pressed his lips to her forehead and whispered, âGoodnight, Angelâ, a smile made her way onto her lips.
By the time Damian had slipped into bed with her, her head leaning comfortably on his chest, she had fallen asleep.
-
When the two turned 15, Talia and Sabine sat them down and told them about the betrothal. Damian had been visiting with Talia.
It had been almost two months since Lila had turned her classmates against her, not that she cared, of course. She still had her Consorts after all.
âMarinette, Damian, weâd like to tell you something. An offer? Of sorts. Iâm relatively sure you will accept, however.âÂ
Talia smiled as Marinette dragged a grumpy Damian over to them by the head, beaming brightly.
âOh come on, Mian! Donât be such a grumpy banana.â Marinette reprimanded the older boy who was rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
The boy only smiled lazily, and ran another hand through his best friendâs hair, the girl making a small noise of protest. âThats what you get for calling me a noodle, Angel.â (if you didnât know miĂ n means noodle in chinese)
Sabine cleared her throat but looked at the two with amusement clear in her eyes.
They straightened. âSorry, maman,â Mari muttered.
âNow, before you two were born, Sabine and I had an agreement. We are perfectly fine with this and the implications of it, so it is up to you to whether to accept or not.â Talia got straight to the point.
The two children looked to each other curiously before turning back to their parents. Damian nodded in acknowledgment and Sabine picked up where Talia left off.
âHow do you feel about each other?â Sabine asked, watching the two closely for their reactions.
âIf thatâs your way of asking us if weâre okay to be siblings, since you and Lia are dating, Maman--â Marinette started but was quickly interrupted by a barely noticeably flushed Talia.
âNo, not that, and we arenât dating, Nette.â Talia aimed a playful glare at the girl, who grinned and blew a raspberry at her.
âHow would you and Damian like to be betrothed?â Sabine asked, smiling at her friend and daughter fondly.
Marinette spluttered and Damian coughed.Â
Talia and Sabine burst out into laughter.
After the adults got their laughter under control and after a few glares from their kids, Damian spoke up.
âMarinette is my best friend. If I had to be betrothed to anyone, Iâm glad itâs her.â Damian looked away and Marinette coughed awkwardly into her elbow.
âYou misunderstand us. You donât have to be betrothed. The choice is yours.â
Damian felt slightly attacked. He really did like Marinette, and the betrothal was an easy excuse to ask her out (even if he was a 15 year old). He didnât know if Marinette felt the same way, and he didnât want to impose that on her, so he kept quiet.
Marinette, who was looking deep in thought, answered.
âCan I talk to Damian for a while, privately?â
Damian, despite his better judgement, winced. This was probably the first time in a really long time that Marinette called him by his full name. It was normally Dami, Damibear to annoy him, or some other weird nickname like Mr Grumpy Banana this morning.
Regardless, the bluenette hadnât called him âDamianâ for a very long time. Two years, maybe.
She walked out of the room, Damian trailing slightly behind, before stopping a few feet outside the room.
Marinette slid down onto the floor, her back pressed against it and head in her hands. Damian frowned. He didnât want his best friend looking so.. dejected. He ignored the slight pang of hurt that the thought of being with him could get this kind of reaction out of her.
He sat down next to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder like he always did when any of them felt upset. He was happy to feel her lean into his side like she always did.Â
She turned her head and buried it in Damianâs side, breathing in his comforting scent of paints and nature. He tightened his hold on her ever so slightly and she almost burst into tears.
It wasnât that she was opposed to being in an engagement with Damian, it was just that she didnât particularly want to be with anyone or love anyone, especially after her father died and Damianâs father abandoned him.
Her mother and aunt didnât show it, but they were sad about their fathers. She had heard Talia interacting with her âbelovedâ before, and it almost always ended up in tears or frustration. (Not that Mari blamed her, Bruce was kind of an asshole.)
She felt Damianâs chin press into her scalp and a hint of a smile grazed her lips. But this was Damian. Damian who was her best friend. Damian who supported her no matter what. Damian who comforted her and was there for her whenever she needed it.
Damian would never hurt her. And she was determined never to hurt him, ever, if she could help it.
She looked up and smiled at Damian. The smile he loved so much, the smile she always had on whenever she saw him, the smile that would unconsciously fly to her lips whenever she heard his voice.
Maybe it was then that Marinette shouldâve known that she loved her best friend, but then again, she was only fifteen. She didnât know what love was. But she would. Very soon.
âWe accept.â Damian told Sabine and Talia when they reentered the room.
âWe thought you would.â Talia replied.
-
When Marinette turned 16, her last year at Francois Dupont, six months since sheâd made Lilaâs time a living hell with her Ladybug (both in suit and in school), and fashion clients connections, the Waynes had visited.
Turns out, Damian and Jason got caught trying to sneak onto the Wayne private jet but instead of stopping them, they insisted they came along too, having pieced together that Damian and Jason were going to visit the mysterious tiny girl they couldnât find the name of.
So they had no choice.
And os that leads to now, with the Waynes standing in the courtyard, elicting a growing crowd as they waited for Marinette, looking the part of scary rich people that can end your life without a problem.
Damian suddenly started running, and he hugged a girl. No one could see who the girl was because her head was buried in Damianâs chest and his body was shielding hers.
Not many people in the courtyard was surprised when they pulled away and standing there was Marinette Dupain-Cheng. After all, she was one of the most successful students in class that didnât get fame from famous relatives. No, al her fame was hers alone.
In fact, the only people surprised were Marinetteâs class, not-so-fondly referred to as the Akuma Class. Her Consorts were the only one who knew of her betrothed, Damian. Other than that, Marinette had never been willing to share.Â
When Marinette saw the other Waynes however, after hugging Jason, she rolled her eyes. Bruce, Dick and Tim stalked forwards, looking every inch the scary billionaires they were.
It was broken by Dick hugging the girl and gushing over how cool she was. Tim smiled at her and she had smiled back. Marinette flipped Bruce the bird.
âWhy are you... so sunny? You definitely werenât like that when you threatened us in Gotham. You were such an ice queen.â Tim mentioned, failing to keep the amusement out of his tone.
âWhat do you mean? Marinetteâs always been like that, even if she is a bitch now. Thereâs no way she can be cold.â Alya remarked snidely.
Alix and Chloe stalked forward, raising thier fists threatningly. But Marinette only laughed coldly.
âYou wanna see cold, Cesaire?â Marinette snarled, dropping all acts of being nice.Â
The Lady was back. Publicly.
The silence was interrupted by Rose, who asked, "But Lila, don't you know the Waynes?"
Said Lila had been trying to slink away unnoticed, but when her name was mentioned, all attention diverted back to her, effectively keeping her in place. Her pale face and scared eyes were enough to tell that she had indeed been lying.Â
Yells and screams broke out across the courtyard as the Akuma Class berated Lila for lying to them all this while. Until, Marinette interrupted, face set in a ice cold, stony positionÂ
"Okay, blame her for lying." She started. "But why did you believe her?"Â
The Akuma Class drew a blank and didn't respond. Partially because they didn't know what to say, and partially because Marinette's mere presence was overwhelmingly intimidating. Marinette sighed and pressed on.Â
"Everything the Liar has said can be found faulty by a simple internet search." It was true, and the class knew it. When no one replied, Marinette shook her head sardonically. "You reap what you sow."Â
She turned to her betrothed. In an instant, her icy mood was gone, replaced with the sunshiney-ness the Akuma Class had grown used to.Â
"C'mon, Dami!" She gave him a quick peck on the lips, hoisting herself up on Damian's back. Damian grasped her legs tightly, as she continued to be piggybacked by him.Â
"Onward!" She cried out dramatically, pointing to the school exit.Â
Damian only rolled his eyes fondly at his beloved, steering themselves out, her Consorts and his family behind them.Â
None of them looked back.Â
If they did, they would've seen the expressions of disbelief and regret etched onto every one of her old classmates' faces.Â
Not that they would care.

Criminal Investigator AU HC
I would first like to start off by saying thank you to everyone.Â
I honestly did not expect the response I got to my Damirae Hospital AU HC list.Â
When I first woke up and checked tumblr ~13 hours after posting I had a holy shit moment.Â
I felt powerful, should I? Probably not.Â
But! Since I am noticing a lack of AUs in the fandom, whether on Tumblr, AO3 or FanFiction.net, whatever AU comes to my mind I shall jot down some hcs for!Â
Thank you all once again!
(Also trying format changes for easy reading)
(Also Also, I am thinking the story is less fluid but more episodic)
Letâs get started:
- So Iâm thinking this is some FBI, SVU, and FBI BAU mixture or whatever. Basically all the great shows we know in love shoved together. From Bones to Criminal Minds and everything in between.
- Special Agent (Dr.)Â Raven Roth is a lead interrogator and is the resident psych consult.Â
Sheâs been educated in interrogation, behavioral science, psychology, forensic pathology, and criminology.Â
She has combat training (hand to hand), she carries (for her job) a gun and at all times has a knife/dagger on her person (people have stopped trying to figure out where she keeps them).Â
Her father was/is crime boss T. Trigon who is currently imprisoned.Â
Was born in the states but fled with her mother to Romania when she was a newborn.
When Trigon found them he killed Arella and took Raven, she was abut 9 - 10 years old.
She took her motherâs last name when she turned 18.Â
Knows two languages besides English; French, Romanian, Romani (various dialects but knows multiple), Greek and Latin
On more than one occasion some goon of her fatherâs tries to recruit her, every time she kicks their ass. (Damian was there for the most recent (he was still green though))
Lives by herself in a decent sized apartment, has a gun safe (gun safety is important!), a cat (Nevermore), and is a regular at a 24/7 bookstore &/Â cafe
Can usually be found wearing some kind of jacket, sweater, cardigan
She once helped save some kids (Melvin, Tommy & Teether) and is now their surrogate aunt, she has photos of them at her desk @ work. (Damian assumes/ed that they were her kids)
She also, when she can, hangs out and babysits them on occasion.
Raven is part of a team consisting of Dick Grayson (unit leader), Kori Anders, Garfield Logan, Jaime Reyes, and very recently Damian WayneÂ
- Special Agent Damian Wayne is a lead investigator (he is still a bit fresh to the unit), translator, sniper and combat coordinator
Heâs been educated in martial arts, explosives, hand to hand combat, close range combat, and combat (basically he knows how to kill you 9 ways to Sunday), also, behavioral science, computer science, criminology, linguistics and language.Â
He can easily translate (into English): Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, Hindi, Bengali, French, Polish, German, Spanish, Portuguese, he can also learn any language you put in front of him and know the basics within a day
(Having lived in many places around the world he needed to be able to speak and understand in order to survive) (wow dramatic much?)
His father is currently the director (or deputy director, whatever floats ya boat) of the FBI.
His mother was essentially a secret agent who worked for various agencies around the globe. (deceased)
His grandfather was the leader of a, um, well to be honest, terrorist agency. (deceased)
Was sent to live with his father when he was 15 (when his mother died) and has been in the states ever since
Lives alone, he has an upscale apartment that he truthfully spends little time in, has multiple locations in the home where various weapons are stored, his place has a very cold atmosphere
Is either in proper work attire or in work out clothing, there is no in between
Tries and fails not to take work home with him
He sees a therapist (who says he should probably try investing in relationships with the people at his job)
His only âfriendâ (he hates calling him that, more like close acquaintance) is Jonathan Kent who was in his class at the FBI Academy, Jon works in a white collar crime department in Metropolis
The only person he actually kind of sort of doesnât dislike is in fact Raven Roth, sheâs a no bull shit person, he likes that
He may know Grayson because of how heâs Bruceâs kind of son but it does not mean he likes him
He finds Logan annoying as all hell, even if he is somewhat useful
He picked a fight with Reyes first day and regretted it (he will never admit that), he respects him
Anders is overly friendly in his opinion, kind of acts like a secretary with all that positivity and grates his nerves, he tolerates her
(Unlike last time I am not going in detail about the rest of the team, this will be brief)
- Supervisory Special Agent Dick Grayson (Unit Chief) is basically Dick Grayson with a big fancy title but all the same skills
He is also obsessed with Slade Wilson and Red X (who is Jason in this)
- Supervisory Special Agent Kori Anders is a lead investigator and is also a go to for undercover work
- Special Agent Garfield Logan is a lead interrogator, is head of the unitâs K-9 unit and kind of has a thing for Roth (which she does not reciprocate)Â
- Special Agent Jaime Reyes is a tactical analyst, tech analyst and is head of the unitâs SWAT team, he does not do well with talking with people, or change
The Scarab is a computing program that Jaime created himself
STORY START:
- When Damian first joins the team there is another member, Special Agent Terra Markov, she is revealed as a sleeper agent but she aligns herself with the team and sadly is shot and killed in a fire fight
- A couple weeks after Agent Markovâs death everyone is talking about what they are doing for an upcoming holiday, Damian says probably nothing, Raven invites him to spend it with her and her ânieceâ and ânephews,â he declines
- About a day after the holiday Damian is home looking through case files when someone knocks on his door
-- It is Raven. He asks how she knew where he lived, she says she asked Dick, she also says that she knows how it feels to be alone and that he may be insufferable but it doesnât mean he canât have a friend
-- His response is saying he isnât the kind to make friends with co workers
-- âIâm not asking to be your friend Damian, I am asking you to be his,â She reveals a small black great dane puppy âI know that other people arenât really your thing, but having someone in your corner and waiting for you is always nice, even if it isnât human.â
-- Damian invites her in, names the dog Titus and thanks her
--Â âJust make sure no one tries to kidnap and kill you, we donât need you to go full blown John Wick.â Damian has no idea who that is. Raven tells him it is an action movie series that he should watch. She leaves. He does watch them that night with Titus on his lap. (after having gone to the local pet supply store to get everything he needs) The action is inaccurate but he enjoyed the movies none the less, and decides that he probably would go into John Wick mode if someone hurt Titus.
-Â SA Roth and SA Wayne are sent to a high security federal prison to interrogate a prisoner, who refuses to speak
-- When they get into the interview room the prisoner does start to speak, but not in English and not in a language Damian is fluent in
-- Raven on the other hand immediately responds to the prisoner (shocking the prisoner and Damian) âHe is speaking Romani though not the dialect of those overseas, he learned it here.âÂ
-- Damian is fascinated by it and they are essentially switching roles the entire time
-- They leave having successfully interviewing the prisoner, and Raven leaves behind a written list of common words in Romani so that they can possibly communicate with the prisoner better
-- As soon as they are on the plane back Damian asks her a myriad of questions from âHow many languages do you know?â to âWhen did you learn that?â and even âAre you a spy? Sleeper agent? Part of a terrorist cell?â
--Â âNot as many as you, when I was a child, if I was part of any of that you wouldnât be asking.â The rest of the trip is spent with her teaching him Romani and even some Romanian
-Â Dick & Kori eventually get together and after a while they break up. Kori takes some vacation time. At the same Dick has been temporarily reassigned to another unit.
-- Chaos ensues
-- Garfield thinks he should be the interim unit chief, Jaime thinks the same, as does, you guessed it, Damian (Raven doesnât want to she is comfortable with her role on the team)
-- In the end they are assigned an interim unit chief, SSA Jason Todd, who usually works overseas on covert op missions (not gonna lie this could easily flow into a Jayrae thing)
-- Everyone kind of falls into line, except Damian, Damian doesnât like him for two reasons
1) He doesnât act serious about the job 24/7
2) He has been flirting and hitting on Raven the moment he stepped into their sectorÂ
-- Damian hates the names he gives her; âLittle Bird,â âSunshine,â âPrincess,â âRae,â (no one calls her Rae, not even Garfield, at least not after the incident) etc.
-- (Little does Damian know, Jason and Raven have worked together before and are actually friends)
-- This all comes to a head when Damian and Jason are the only ones still in the office after a tiring case.
âYou shouldnât do that you know.â
âDo what? All I am doing right now is contemplating where Grayson          keeps the liquor.â
âCall Raven all those names, she doesnât like it.â
âReally? Because if you havenât noticed she hasnât exactly asked me to        stop.â
âShe gets uncomfortable, maybe not to the extent of asking you to stop,       but she tenses up and her body language becomes slightly more            agitated.â
âYou seem to pay a lot of attention in how she reacts to thinks baby brat.       Seems to me that you like her.â
âOf course I like her, she is a good friend and reliable teammate.â
      âNo, you like like her.â
      âThat presumption is juvenile.â
      âBut you donât deny it.â
      âTch.â
-- If anything after that conversation Jason seems to doubled his advances. Which confuses both Damian and Raven. Damian because it is inappropriate and HR will be hearing about this. Raven because she was under the assumption that she and Jason were just friends. (Jason actually does have genuine intentions but is like 60% just egging Damian on)
-- Eventually (far too long for Damianâs tastes), both Dick and Kori return. At first it is sooooooo awkward. Like mom and dad divorced have shared custody but donât hate each other but also cannot look each other in the eye. ((Was that a mouthful? Good)) No one can really look at each other the same? Though they do have a meeting to sort it out, get everything out in the open.
- Ravenâs annual kidnapping/attempt to convert her/torture comes almost exactly one year after Damian joined the team (this is his 2nd time dealing with this)
-- This time Damian is prepared. By prepared I mean Raven doesnât even leave her apartment before she is taken to safety.Â
   âDamian what is going on?â
âChristmas came early this year thatâs what.â
âChristmas? What in gods name are you talking about.â
âGod has no dealings in this matter.â
âYou do realize you are sounding like a bad action movie? It is not even 6 am and I am in your car going somewhere, I have had little to no sleep and I am barely dressed. What is going on?â Damian hadnât payed attention to what clothing Raven was wearing. His mind was on one goal. Find Raven, keep Raven safe. His eyes glanced off the road enough to realize she was indeed not properly dressed. Her body was merely adorned with an oversized tee-shirt, tiny barely there shorts and a pair of fluffy socks.
âI apologize, it appears in my haste I did not leave you time to properly clothe yourself. As to why you are here, it seems your father and his people have shortened their waiting time this year from one year to a little more than ten months.â Ravens hands fisted her shirt. âThis time I was prepared,â last time he was still new to everything, last time he made mistakes, this time there will be no mistakes. âSince our last encounter with your demon, so to speak, I have been setting in place precautions and safety measures to ensure Nevermore and yoursâ safety. I have also been tracking the movements of his big players. If any came close I would mark it down. Multiple are entering the city at this moment. Seeing as you we taken last time I have made plans to ensure that will not happen again.â The car made a snap turn down an unfamiliar street pulling Raven from her clouded gaze.
âSo I am going to be okay this time?â Her voice was faint and restraining against hope.
âYouâre going to be okay.â His hand lightly held hers. Only to stop the shaking, they told themselves, only to make everything better. âNevermore is with Titus at my place being watched by a friend of mine. I have already walked Grayson through everything we will not be expected at work this week, but we can work remotely.â
   âWe?â
âIâm not going to leave you. Ever.â
-- ((Sorry for the blocks of text))
-- As Raven finds out they are at one of Damianâs safe houses. The one least likely to be tied to her. It is fully stocked with food, has security cameras and if needed weapons. The only problem is that the only clothes there are Damians.
   âThought of everything huh?â
âI was following their pattern, I expected to have more time to acquire clothing for you.â (he was looking away and blushing, you cannot tell me he wasnât)
-- Raven just resigns herself to wearing Damianâs clothes, yes his brain does stop working for a hot second when he sees her in only his clothes.
-- All attempts to try and retrieve codename: Gem of Scath are foiled (like some good math)
-- So many bonding moments happen. Cuddling (pure accident *rolls eyes*), eating together, inside jokes, etc. At one point Damian answers her phone (he disabled and disconnected the tracer) to one of the mob guys after them.
  âHello?â
âYou can hide the gem but we will find her.â
âIâm sorry, is there a jewel you are looking for? I donât think I have and any jewels that I am coveting.â
âWe know you are with her! It is but a matter of time until we collect her.â
âI hope you do eventually find whatever you are looking for sir, but I havenât the slightest idea the gem you speak of. If you could give me a physical description? Is it a ruby, diamond, onyx? Is it round or more of a pear shape?â
   â...â
âWell, I will look for it here, but I do not believe I possess what you speak of. Will you give me your number so I can call you back?â (The line cuts dead, and Raven can be seen laughing in the background, the phone was on speaker)
-- Once the team tracks down, arrests and interrogates all of the parties working for Trigon; Raven and Nevermore can go home. Though both are reluctant in their own way. Nevermore has grown attached to Titus, and Raven well Raven has feelings. Sadly, as Raven knows, feelings are dangerous to have in their line of work.Â
-- Look at Dick and Kori they were together and then they fell apart and the team almost imploded.
-- What about Trigon if he finds out about Damian and how she feels towards him? What kind of danger will he be in then?
-- Like all of her feelings Raven puts them in a box and locks the box away. Not just figuratively, in her safe there is a box with: post its, torn papers, journals, etc. That box has a lock on it. Whenever she has a new feeling that she cannot ignore, like her feelings towards Special Agent Wayne, she takes out the box and writes her feelings down. They can range from a single sentence to pages worth. (Her feelings towards Damian fill a small notebook she has on hand). Once she has written all of her feelings out she places them in the box, locks said box and then places the locked box in her safe, which she then locks.
-- Is this a healthy way to cope with her feelings? Maybe not. But, it is way better than how Damian deals with his. Violence. Also art but violence comes first.
- At this point both Damian and Raven have caught the feelings (highly contagious I hear), which makes this a little awkward and a little not awkward. For one everyone but Raven knows how Damian feels towards her. He does things for her and with her that no one else gets the privilege to.
-- To list a few:
--- He brings her tea whenever he gets himself coffee or tea
--- He talks to her about what he does outside of work, even about his kind of friend definitely not enemy, Jon.
--- They socialize outside of work. Watching bad movies (some of them are not that bad), going to the park with Titus (they once got Nevermore in a leash and walked her), meeting each other before and after work to get breakfast or dinner.
--- He doesnât glare at her
--- He allows physical contact between the two
--- He worries about her (hello he created an entire plan so that she wouldnât get kidnapped, with contingencies and everything, garfield would be lucky to get a plan)
--- His eyes light up when she talks, or enters a room, or you know exists in his vicinity
--- He actually smiles around her (Dick caught him smiling once at Raven and he though Damian was having a stroke)
-- Even though everyone knows Damian likes Raven, very few know that Raven likes Damian back. (this only includes; Kori, Dick, Jason, Titus, Nevermore, and Melvin) She does do certain things that give herself away just like Damian.
--The list:
--- When Damian gets frustrated or angry she puts a hand on his arm, or holds his hand
--- She laughs at things he does (light chuckles, or little giggles)
--- She will talk to him about his interests and actively tries to have conversations with him about things unrelated to work.
--- She blushes when he does something unexpected (like a compliment)((Mostly she tries to hide it until he isnât looking at her))(((Kori has caught the blush before)))
-- Luckily for them it does not take some cliche âOne suddenly becomes in danger and the other one saves them only to be close to death and then they admit their love for one another and promise to go on a date when the other is healedâ situation.Â
-- Damian actually asks Raven out after being tipped of by Jason and Dick that she may like him back. Damian finds out when they have days off at the same time and asks her while leaving work.
âRaven, you have this weekend off correct?â
âYeah I do. I wasnât planning on doing anything though. Did you have something in mind?â
âUm, yeah, heh, I was wondering if you would do me the pleasure of going to dinner with me tomorrow.â *Awkwardly rubs back of neck*
âLike a date or two friends going to dinner?â *Thinks she sounds harsh* âI am honestly fine with either since we are friends.â *nervous smile*
âLike a date if that is okay with you of course.â
âYeah, yeah totally that is totally okay with me.â *Starts sounding like a teenage girl who only knows about 10 words, because sheâs nervous*
âGood, Iâll be by your place around 1830, if that is okay?â *nerve central, the central nervous system could never*
âYup that is totally fine with me.â
    âGreat.â
âGood.â The elevator opens in the knick of time.
âSee you tomorrow evening Agent Roth. Have a good night.â
âYou too, Agent Wayne, you too.â
-- When Damian does pick her up he feels like his brain is going to explode. She looks absolutely breathtaking. This is just like all the other times theyâve gone to dinner, except this restaurant is slightly fancier and they are on a date.
-- Raven feels as though all her emotions are leaking out at once, she has no idea what she is doing.
-- In the end they have a good time and decide to do it again. Damian does bring up that all of the breakfasts and dinners they regularly do could now be considered dates. Raven does not oppose that switch at all.
- Fast forward a handful of years (like 3?), Damian and Raven are moved in together (Nevermore and Titus are happy about this, they even allow the humans to adopt another pet, a cat named Alfred). Damian is now Supervisory Special Agent Wayne and is in charge of their unit. Raven has retired from field work and now works at the FBI academy and at Virginia State University. In about 6 months Damian is going to propose and Raven will say yes. Their wedding will be small but happy and full of life.
Once again I would like to thank everyone and all the support the previous post got.
Like last time if anything is disjointed, out of place or seems wrong, please go ahead and tell me. I have been working on this since the last one, but have finally had the time to finish it.
I hope the new year will bring us all some good. Possibly more head canons to come.

Outline # -1 Abandoned Lore (Trinity)
@fanfics-and-fangirling
I have learned my lesson, I will be writing these on Google docs and then copy-pasting onto Tumblr. While I am on GD, I figured I might as well open the docs I used to write the actual fic. Man, I went through a ton of hoops to get where I am. I will be using the most coherent ones for reference.Â
I can literally track my thought process as I went through writing all the different versions and I still have no idea how tf I went from this to dropping a flaming papermache whale on Raâs Al Ghul. And I will die mad about it. Which means more meticulous notes in the future I guess.
Also, Iâd like to apologize for how long it took to get this out, I have no sense of time whatsoever and as always, thereâs a lot more than expected. This was 7 pages long
Original Ramble PostÂ
Like most of my stories, the MC is an OCI - reincarnator brought into a fictional world they once watched. (Because I am obsessed with that trope.)
I now find the original name I had for her cringy and out-of-place given these are norse gods. So, from now on her name is Lokka, which is the female version of Loki
Thereâs a whole ass backstory about the transition of godly names and power I wonât go into. Just think Thor and female Thor kind of thing I guess. Sheâs basically seen as a spare Loki but itâs also a respected position.
Was tempted to name her Sigyn since Marvel doesnât care about actual norse myth relations. No, Idc that thereâs a canon Sigyn.
If youâre curious, the original name was Aradia. Yes, like the queen of witches.
MC is an asgardian, the daughter of the librarian in the royal palace and a blacksmith
She managed to get an apprenticeship under Loki and is occasionally taught by Frigga. She also learns under Eir when both her royal teachers are busy.
Lokka found her way into the central plane, probably having found itâs location from Lokiâs notes and is unaware that itâs unstable.
So, Lokka is in the central plane, having the time of her life exploring new lands when she stumbles across a crying Marinette who is very lostÂ
Unlike Lokka, Marinette does not know where she is or what is going on. She literally just tripped into a portal and has no way home.
Lokka takes Marinette under her wing and promises to help her find a way home
Problem is, she doesnât know which of the three universes Marinette is from.
Even if/when she finds out that the girl is from MLB-verse, she still wouldnât know which one that is because she has no reference to which world is which. Only that Marinette is probably not from Asgard.
At this point, she is unaware she lived in Marvel, she just knows Asgard is Norse Mythology.
So they continue to wander the central plane, Marinette ends up picking up a card guardian for a pet, accidentally becoming a cardcaptor.Â
Marinette has trouble pronouncing Lokka and Lokka gives Mari permission to call her Cosette (pre-reincarnation name)
Meanwhile, Raâs sends Damian and Talia into the Central plane for combat experience and resource gathering.
Raâs might be 700 years old, he might have access to the Central plane but he sure doesnât know about magic or how it came to be or the current state of it. He might know somethingâs off because all the inhabitants have been increasingly on edge and the weatherâs been stranger than usual but he didnât deemed it important
Notably, he has never seen anyone other than those who heâd sent in himself in the central planes (CP, from now on bc I am getting tired of typing the entire thing out) so as far as he knows, the CPâs only entrance point is under his control.
Talia and Damian, whoâs still going by Hafid, go hunting for resources and training
They separate for a bit for individual hunting/training time
Marinette and Cosette (Lokka) stumble across Damianâs camp
Misunderstandings occur, Damian fights them, more accurately he fights Cosette
Cosette tries to protect Marinette while also making sure not to harm her opponent
It was harder than she expected considering her opponent was a child
Asgardian training pulls through and she is able to do both
Damianâs tied up, Marinette is confused, and Cosette does not want to deal with this
Negotiation time
Marinette canât speak Arabic, Damian doesnât know french, and Cosette has all-speak
This means Cosetteâs sitting there, having to repeat everything the kids say to each other for translationâs sake
also misunderstandings before the kids realize allspeak is a thing
Cosette is stuck with two kids who donât like each other, one of which barely puts up with her so she does what most adults do when kids are too troublesome
Distract them: she does magic tricks with actual magic
Damian+Marinette are fascinated, Cosette accidentally gains two magic studentsÂ
even though sheâs still learning herself and all she has for guidance right now are Lokiâs and Friggaâs notes
So, the trio end up travelling together
Damian demands Marinette should at least be able to fight so they train her too
They also figure out that Marinette and Damianâs worlds are not the same.
Cosette drills some value of life, basic morals, and feminism into Damianâs head
Marinette and Damian (Hafid) have trouble pronouncing each otherâs names
They chose nicknames for each other from Cosetteâs bedtime stories
Marinette is obviously angel or Tenko
Damian is gets Kabane, the name of a half demon
Kabane later changes to Kasane, protective blade
Yes, Cosette was/is a weeb and yes, they still mispronounce names which defeats the whole purpose but at least they kids donât notice now even if Cosette is cringing every time they
They run into another card guardian and this one goes to Damian.
Cosette does not pout about this, it would be very immature
One training montages, several fights, a couple language lessons, and an abandoned (and Cosette-raided) house later, Cosette gets to the part of Lokiâs notes where she figures out that the CP is collapsing in on itself and uh-oh
She tells the kids the gist of it but theyâre too smart, ask all the right questions, and end up figuring out the important parts of situation that sheâs trying to keep from them
Cosette is both impressed and a little put out, mostly impressed because not only did they figure out extremely complex magic, they also mostly remained level headed.
Marinette wants to rescue the card guardians and for once Damian is backing her up so Coestte gives up the notion of returning home and they go collect the guardians.
Remember, DC and MLB universes are closing in on each otherÂ
MCU is drifting away
If they donât collect the guardians, Cosette would have the time to just drop them off at their world collection points and head back to hers
After collecting a couple guardians, they end up finding Talia and explain the situation to her.
Talia joins the gang, she may or may not be plotting a marriage
They raid a couple more houses, collect the 54 card guardians, and complete the power transfer ritual (replacing the Yueâs trial because the cards are the guardians)
The cards end up latching onto the three kids.Â
Marinette gets the Mistress title, Damian gets Sun Guardian, and Cosette gets Moon guardian.
Originally Cosette was going to be the mistress and Marinette the Moon guardian but because of the way Iâve decided magic works in this world - explaining that will need a whole other post - if Marinette is the moon guardian and gets the Ladybug miraculous, she will - for lack of better word - get sick and possibly die... or not.
Yâknow what, it made sense at the time. But now that I think about it, weâre going back to the original idea.
Cosetteâs the Card Mistress, Marinetteâs the Moon guardian and Damianâs the Sun guardian.
Spoiler alert: that is a plot point for tropes-verse.
The completion of the ritual breaks puts CP deteriorations in high acceleration
Damian and Talia get into their circle, Cosette and Marinette in the other
Damian doesnât have any cards bc he doesnât want his grandfather trying to get to them. He and Talia agreed Raâs would only know about the CPâs destruction. He does, however, have a CP beast that they picked up.
CP beast: magical creature that was born of CPâs magical residue or smth
Damianâs looks like a Teddiursa (Teddy bear pokemon) it is not
They have a notebook from a raided house detailing CPâs deterioration for proof
Cosette goes with Marinette because she canât make it back to her universe and in the event that Marinetteâs also from Cosetteâs universe, she wonât be alone
They separate with the promise of meeting again.
At this point, I have had several differing ideas
They all go into DC world because they arenât sure of Marinetteâs world
Child trio goes into MLB world and Talia tells Raâs Damian died
Everyone goes into MLB and Raâs finds out about the collapse when he tries going in himself and finds out he canât and just assumes they died
Yâall, Iâm starting to see why I canât do one-shotsâŠ
One of the things I forgot to mention in the rambling post is that while Marvel-verse was pulling away, it also messed with the time regulation thing, a day in the Maribat-verse will
Time in CP was very messed up
Kind of assumed readers could piece it together but I figured might as well make it obvious and straight up say it
MLBU: Cosette and Marinette arrive safelyÂ
Marinette is delivered home and Cosette has to figure something out
They find out Marinette has only been gone for a week
Marinette has some separation anxiety for about three days
Cosette slowly realizing this is an MLB universe and having a crisis
Cosette gets adopted by the Dupain-Chengs and starts working at the bakery
I have not figured out ages for Cosette
MLB goes like most Maribat fics pre-gotham because Iâm lazy
Will likely be adjusted if I ever actually write this fic
Except Cosette steps in when things got too far and Paris has 3 heroes
Cosette is the known as the Sorciere or Lokka
Her uniform is just her asgardian armor
Good but misguided Adrien, Cosette probably adopts him too
Love square goes platonic and Cosette is glad this rom-com is over
Magic tutoring continues
Cosette is neutral with Fu and fascinated by the miraculous
You remember those ghost interactions? Those are filtering in
One of the first things to merge is the internet, because it doesnât have a physical body and itâs just waves of information
News and discoveries between the world are being swapped
Given what I remember from DC and dimension travel, it wouldnât be surprising if they figured out universes were merging.
The news about JL and Parisâs situation are causing all kinds of confusion
Cosette beings looking for information on Damian
As the physical world begins merging, thereâs pockets of space where you can slip from one world into another; not quite portals but close
Eventually the trip to NY became a trip to Gotham because their plane slipped between planes (sorry, I saw the chance and I had to take it.) but yeah, that happened.
Thereâs quite a few details Iâm forgetting
DCU: Damian and Talia arrive ok and report bare basics to Raâs
It has also only been a week
Raâs is displeased to find them back until they report the state of the CP
Thereâs the whole coup not long after and Damian is sent to Bruce
Damian is much more innocent looking when heâs bringing what appears to be a teddy bear with him
Itâs name is Abd and it has grown wings by now. Actual name pending.
He gets teased about it, but under Cosetteâs teachings, he has learned the virtue of patience, underestimation, and getting revenge with a side of entertainment
He does not try to kill Tim either
He also has to make the choice of bringing Abd with him as Damian or as Robin
He choses to make a side company for WE making toys based off creatures from the CP so Abd wouldnât look too out of place
It takes two weeks for the bats to realize thereâs something off about the Abd
They are convinced itâs haunted and Damian is very entertained
Abd only moves in daytime when no one - Damian excluded - can see it
Movement can expel magic that interferes with recording tech
Alfred is the first to figure it out and surprise, surprise, he has some magic books for Damian to learn from
Itâs from the Wayne family library and they just assumed the language was lost to time. At least three are from Alfredâs own family.
Bat brothers spend the next 6 months trying to convince Damian his magical pet bear is a haunted doll.
Damian sort of getting along with Poison Ivy because his Sun magic is very compatible with plants and they love him
On an unrelated note, the plants seem to refuse to attack the new Robin
Damian randomly, unconsciously humming to songs Cosette and Marinette sang
Damian just vibing with the magic users of JL and Teen Titans
No one took him seriously at first but he pointed something out during a conference
âRobin, stand down and let the magic users handle thisâ - Green Lantern, probably
Constantine who actually knows what heâs talking about âNo, no, let the boy talk.â
The plan was twice as efficient after Damian was through with it
Now Constantineâs trying to adopt Damian as an apprentice, heâs failing bc the bats are protective and possessive of what is theirs
Reminder that Damian brings Abd with him everywhere and heâs still getting teased about it from anyone who is not a bat (still convinced the thing is haunted)
The only thing the magic users have picked up about Abd is that heâs a magical construct which could mean a number of things but they brush it off as just a doll.
No one is prepared for the thing to come to life, multiply in size, and start spitting ice, sleep sand, and illusions. (Hiccups bubbles and can also turn into a cloud.)
They are also not prepared for the thing to quadruple in size and for Damian to ride it like a horse into battle. Reminder that Abd has wings and can fly.
Confusing talk about whatâs going on in Paris and some other parts of the world
JL slowly figure out the universal merger that Damian already knows about
Damian is not impressed, it took him and Angel about 2 hours as 9 year olds
Somehow, Damian still has the ice prince image, less demon spawn though, that goes to Abd
Time moves on and one day, a plane from the other world arrives in Gotham
Thereâs a bit of confusion but itâs not exactly the first time something like this has happened at this point
WE steps up and offers jobs and a tour and all the usual Maribat plans (not just for the kids but all the other people on the plane)
Given the merger of the internet, MLB class and crew have some idea who the Waynes are and they accept.Â
Estimated about 6 months for full merger so people from MLB world are kinda just stuck there until then
Lila literally cannot lie about knowing the Waynes personally but she sure can lie about other things.
Dick and Damian are sent in to monitor the group
The reunion is awkward given they canât freely interact and are not supposed to know each other.Â
While Dick is talking, there are just wide eyed staring between Marinette, Damian, and Cosette. With something a little extra between Marinette and Damian.
Cosette is torn between laughing and groaning at another rom-com trope coming in fast.
She ends up filming it bc blackmail is always good to have
Adrien is confused and quite frankly, heâs really just there to cover for them
The tour begins and about five minutes in, the trio breaks off and exchanges stories and names.
Cosette hears about Batman and has a dawning realization of what this world is, mentally nopes out, later digests that they are going into Maribat verse
Starts checking off Maribat tropes theyâre coming across bc she might as well have fun with it
They continue to meet up
Batfam thinking Damian somehow managed to get two girlfriends
Damian choking on his breakfast when it is brought up
The girls are invited to dinner and Damian is just dying inside
Cosette blatantly hitting on all Damianâs brothers in the first 5 minutes
Damian screaming internally while Cosette cackles
Dick is awkward until he realizes itâs a joke, Jason plays along, Tim has an awkward bean crisis
Tim x Cosette? Maybe.
Cosette does that sit and repeat thing at least three times out of habit
Batfam gets full explanation about how they met and everything
I have played with the idea of Cosette getting fear gassed a couple times and Idk how it would go tbh.
Thatâs as far as I got with this version, so shenanigans ensue
Pretty sure they used the cards and magic throughout even if I didnât mention it
Absolutely would be useful for being in two places at once
I later changed so the merger happens and then Parisâs heroes meet the Justice League
Damian immediately recognizing Cosette but not Marinette bc magic
still effective but weaker because of Damianâs magic type
He later recognizes Marinette later when she pulls off a move he taught her way back in CP
Nickname confusion for everyone else
Cosette vs Constantine on who gets to teach Damian magic
Damian goes to Paris. They beat Hawkmoth and then go to Gotham.
Also had a general idea of a plot with LoS that never got fleshed out past existing
If weâre going for the rebound version: Cosette reunites with Thor and Loki during the Avengers movie
Also, poor Heimdallr. He probably had a lot of headaches with the universe crash
Accelerated merger because of the convergence in the dark world.
I wanna go with 2012 Avengers towers shenanigans. + Loki and his sort-of but not really daughter
Cosette vs Antman, shrinking/growing, science vs magic.
And then thereâs the whole Ironman vs Batman vs Arrow rich boy fight
Hammer x Luthor or Hammer vs Luthor?
Also, Cosette just staring at her home universe in betrayal and being insulted she didnât think of it earlier because classic Nordic myths had Loki as Odinâs brother and not his son among other things but still
Fight against Thanos is a bit anti-climatic when you give a gremlin murder child magic and a sword that can through anything, including magical artifacts.
this baby boy can and will fight God and Cosetteâs not really the kind to hold him back
If I actually wrote this, a lot of things would probably change because Iâd actually have to put more thought into logistics and how things work
#Maribat#Daminette#multi-crossover#Ven's ideas#Ven's rambling#Abandoned Lore#Ven's idea outline#feel free to ask questions#maribat x CCS#mlb x dc x marvel x ccs#I gave up editing#I only have vague recollection of what is actually written here

Hi, I love your fic'â€ïž and I wanted to know if you could write even a short one about what would happened if Riko didnt find Andrew and Neil in WDWG
Thank you! đ Okay, so I did my best to keep this as short as possible, just a glimpse of the boysâ life if Riko had never found them/if they were able to live on undisturbed, just the two of them.
Uhm, I think itâs pretty safe? Just the ongoing burying bodies joke....
*******
Neil had just sold the two tourists from New York a (very ugly) tea set and couple rare blends of tea (Jodi would be pleased) when Masseyâs recommendation returned. Neil gave him a stern look to convey ânot nowâ while he waited on a regular, Mrs. Huang, taking the time to let her sniff the luâan tea they had in stock to ensure that it was up to her high standards before he bagged the requested amount, chatting with her in Mandarin the entire time. It was only after she left (and he was certain that the store was empty) that Neil motioned the anxious man forward while he reached beneath the counter for the wrapped bundle he and Jodi had worked on earlier.
âItâs ready?â
âYes.â Neil answered in French as he set the bundle on the counter, just out of reach, then slid his phone into view. âNew passport, bank account, driverâs license, birth certificate, the works.â
The man, face haggard from stress and freshly bleached hair falling onto his forehead, gazed at the package as if it a holy grail of sorts. âLet me see the passport. Please,â he added, his voice hoarse with need.
Used to being asked such a question, Neil shrugged and unfolded the brown wrapping paper enough to slip free the passport (French) and flipped it open to prove to the man (no names had been exchanged, which he much preferred) that it would pass for authentic (he did excellent work). Some of the tension left the manâs stocky body upon seeing it, as did a quick glance at the other items in the wrapping paper; he pulled out his phone to transfer the agreed upon amount of money to the account number Jodi had given him last night.
Neil checked his phone to ensure the money had been deposited then slid the items across the counter. âGood luck,â he told the man, who snatched up his new life, nodded in acknowledgement, then fled the Jade Leaves tea store.
Neil dealt with a few more tourists (not his favorite thing) and a handful of regulars (which he much preferred, especially when they brought him snacks) by the time Jodi returned. âBah, itâs raining,â she complained as she pushed back the hood of her jacket; fall in Montreal could be unpredictable, could be an extension of summer or an early taste of winter, and now it looked as if the warm spell was giving way to colder temperatures and rain.
âBe thankful itâs not snow,â he told his boss as he handed over a cup filled with oolong, which he brewed throughout the day for customers and staff (well, him and Jodi) alike.
âHush, you,â she chided before she took a cautious sip. âHmm, how was business?â
He held up his phone, and huffed when she gave a pleased smile in return; sheâd noticed the money deposited in the account earlier, an account which would soon disappear after she transferred the funds elsewhere (some to Neil). âSteady. I managed to get rid of the awful tea set.â
âThe one with the gibberish on it?â Jodiâs pale brown eyes went wide and she laughed with joy as she reached to pat Neil on the shoulder. âAh, sending you here was the best favor Gabe ever did for me.â
âHmm.â Neil had to agree; as Aidanâs senior year of high school had drawn to an end, theyâd been uncertain as to what to do next. Stick around until Neil graduated? Have Aidan apply to university? Move on to a new set of identities? Theyâd made a home of sorts in Racine, but Neil worried about his fatherâs people catching up to them at some point and Aidan was tired of them pretending to be siblings.
It was during a check-in with Durand that the forger had brought up that his cousin in Montreal was looking for help: an assistant who could speak French and if not take part in forging documents, at least keep their mouth shut. Neil and Aidan had debated it for a few days, but in the end they trusted Durand (as much as they did anyone else), Montreal put them farther away from the remnants of Nathanâs gang, and they could start anew.
Instead of half-brothers, they were newlyweds.
(Neil barely managed to not freak out when Aidan told Durand to create a marriage license for them, saving it until they were alone in the car. Only to be stopped mid-rant when Aidan held up a ring and asked him âyes or noâ.)
Neil kept his first name (he didnât want to let go of it after keeping it for so long), while Aidan became Andrew once more. Neil and Andrew Keenan, two young fools in love who struck out on their own rather than be apart (or so most people assumed). Neil spent the last couple months before they left Racine learning Mandarin, and was now picking up Arabic as well. He sold tea in a small store in Chinatown, gossiped with the locals, learned from one of the best forgers in North America (Jodi Liu was every bit as good as her cousin), and very rarely had to use the gun hidden beneath the counter.
âI havenât heard from Gabe or Massey, so we should be good for the night,â Jodi said as she checked her phone for messages. âGo home.â
She didnât have to tell him twice. He ran back to the small breakroom in the back to fetch the container of pork dumplings Mrs. Dai had given him (she kept telling him he was too skinny) then was out the door after wishing Jodi âgood nightâ. Despite the rain, he stopped at Tonyâs food truck to get a couple cartons of noodles to complete dinner, laughing at the older manâs retelling of a small group of Americans trying to order with appalling French.
âI guess it was better than them trying in Mandarin,â Tony said as he handed Neil his takeaway.
âAndrew complains about the French thing all the time.â
âYeah, I imagine heâd get it a lot, working in a pastry shop.â
Neil waved goodbye and, after making sure the food was safe in his waterproof messenger bag, jogged down the mostly deserted streets to where Andrew worked, right outside of Chinatown. The bakery was empty of customers, probably because of the rain and the time of day, but the mostly empty display cases indicated that theyâd done a good business earlier.
Andrew arched an eyebrow at Neilâs arrival and popped the petit four he held in his hand into his mouth. Once it was chewed and swallowed, he stepped toward the doorway leading back into the kitchen area, covered with a cloth divider. âNaseem, some riffraff just blew into the shop. Iâm going to take it home.â
âWhat?â Andrewâs coworker, a young man with a closely trimmed black beard and a white scarf tied over his short, curly black hair, poked his head through the curtains and smiled when he saw Neil. âWhy do you put up with him?â he asked, just like he always did, while he brushed at the flour which dusted his face; he probably was working on some of the pastries for the next day.
Neil gave the same answer, as always. âHe knows where the bodies are buried.â
âHa, you kids and your jokes.â Naseem shook his head as he glanced around the empty shop. âJust lock up before you go.â
Andrew gave him a two-fingered salute then quickly set about clearing out the register and turning off the lights (it looked as if heâd already done a lot of the closing duties already), then grabbed a small box before he ushered Neil out the door, which he locked behind them.
He gave Neil a pointed look as he pulled an umbrella big enough for the both of them out of his own bag and opened it. âYou trying to catch pneumonia?â
âIâm open to new experiences?â Neil smiled when he was given the âyouâre an idiotâ look. âI got dinner.â
âI know, I can smell it.â
âAre you going to share dessert with me?â
âNo.â
Neil smiled the entire way home, especially when Andrew hooked their pinkies together; they didnât have far to go since they rented an apartment in a building which Jodiâs family owned. It had a balcony where they could sit together as they smoked cigarettes or drank something hot, a bathtub big enough for them both to soak in together, and a gas fireplace in the living room which Andrew spent half the winter in front of, along with the cats.
Aibee greeted them at the door, certain to make the deplorable state of her empty belly known, while Elbee sauntered in from their bedroom and flopped down at Andrewâs feet after he kicked off his boots. He sighed and bent down to give the orange tabby a gentle pet before he prodded him to stand up, while Aibee was quick to run into the kitchen once she realized that Neil was headed that way, her fluffy black tail straight up in the air.
Andrew caught the strap of Neilâs messenger bag, which brought him to a halt. âGo change into something dry,â he chided as he maneuvered the bag from Neilâs shoulder.
âOkay.â Neil leaned in for a lingering kiss then did as heâd been told, pulling his damp sweatshirt over his head along the way. It and his jeans were draped over the hamper, swapped out for a soft sweater (that was Andrewâs) and sweatpants. Once dressed, he went into the kitchen to find that his husband had divvied up the food onto two plates, which had been placed on the table, and was feeding the cats.
âShut up and eat, you ingrates,â Andrew said as he set down their bowls, his deep voice mild and expression almost tender.
âI thought I was the ingrate,â Neil commented as he picked up his chopsticks.
âYouâre the idiot ingrate,â Andrew clarified as he sat down, and sighed when Neil stuck out his tongue.
They concentrated on eating for a couple minutes before they (well, Neil) started talking about their day; Andrew nodded along as he went on about the tourists and the documents heâd created. As expected, Andrew complained a bit about the tourists who just had to try out their lousy French on him.
âJodi send you your part of the job yet?â
Neil frowned as he pulled out his phone and checked the special account where the money from the forgeries went. âYes, another twenty-five thousand.â He gave Andrew a curious look. âDo I need to route it somewhere?â They were careful with the remaining money his mother had stolen from his father, most of it still tied up in investments for another couple years but a nice amount available for use â especially after Neil had started working for Jodi.
Their biggest expense to date was Andrewâs brother Aaron; when heâd learned about his long-lost mother dying from an overdose and how sheâd allowed his twin to become an addict, he and Neil had arranged it so that Aaronâs cousin, Nicky, was able to win custody of Aaron and that Tildaâs âlife insuranceâ was more than enough to support the two until Aaron graduated high school. A little bit more money, a few more pulled strings had gotten Aaron into a university in South Carolina, and Neil had thought that was that.
Or so he had thought.
Andrew got up to fetch the pastry box (along with two forks) and set it on the table, the top open to reveal that inside was some horrendous chocolate thing and a small fruit tart. âWe both have vacation time leftover, I thought we could go somewhere warm toward the end of the year.â
Neil gazed at his husband for a moment before he narrowed his eyes. âYou just want to get away from the snow for a while.â
Andrew shrugged as he set the tart on Neilâs plate. âYou wonât have to listen to me complain about the cold for a couple weeks.â
âHmm.â That had possibilities, Neil thought as he picked a blackberry from the tart and popped it into his mouth. âYou didnât happen to research âthe top ten ice cream places in Bora Boraâ or something like that, did you?â
He was given a blank look in return.
âWe never had a honeymoon,â or a real wedding, for that matter, âso I get some say in this.â
âNo Exy,â Andrew declared as he stabbed his fork in the chocolate monstrosity.
No, no Exy, Neil thought with a wince. Heâd soured a bit on the sport after the whole Edgar Allan scandal. âNo burying bodies.â
âAgain with that? It happened twice.â
âAnd twice is more than enough, considering the second time, someone was all âoh look, Iâm bleeding sooo much, you have to do all the digging this time,â Neil said in a mocking voice.
For a moment, he thought heâd be the one bleeding (Andrew had only grown more impressive with those flat stares of his), until his husband clicked his tongue. âFine, weâll go somewhere with plenty of water so we can sink the bodies.â
âHuh.â Neil considered that as he had a bite of the fruit tart. âThatâll work.â Not that he wanted to have to sink bodies into the ocean, but⊠well, it was him and Andrew. Things just happened.
There was a very slight curl to Andrewâs full lips, which meant he was smug as hell at the moment. Neil narrowed his eyes, uncertain about what heâd just agreed to, then figured âwhat the hellâ. It would work out in the end, it always did with Andrew.
*******
Forgive me for any liberties taken with Montreal.
The catsâ full names are Anklebiter and Lazybones. If you canât guess, Andrew named them, and Neil shortened them.
I figured this is set a year or two after Andrew would have graduated. He may be taking online university classes (more as something to do), but Neilâs happy with being a forger (and damn good at it).
Itâs like... trying to figure out what to write next. Iâve one or two prompts I want to get done, the next chapter of Casts a Shadow, wrap up the soulmate fic, and another part of Not in the Stars. Decisions, decisions....

YASMIN DOUGLASâ
IG info/Bio: @/imyasmin_d | 11.6k followers | hello & ahlan đ¶
23-24 years old depending on her birthday (Iâm thinking too much about timelines since i know some shows arenât live and if they filmed it prior & itâs just being shown to us now...then thereâs the boat party that comes in after, you get what Iâm saying right? No? Okay)
Moroccan heritage
she was born in fes along with her baba
Father works in the carpet & rug manufacturing industry and worked in his fatherâs business from the young age of 16
her mother is from Essaouira & has often stated that she couldnât stand Yasminâs father the first time they met but she wouldnât want to travel through this life with anyone else
Her father and mother came from two different lifestyles. All he knew how to do was hard work yet he had a sarcastic but playful side to him whereas her mom came from a family that was more financially stable & she was free to do whatever! mainly hanging at the beach with her friends without a care in the world, she was privileged and a little uppity while her fatherâs life seemed to be planned out from the day of his birth
Yet they still fell in love and decided to leave Morocco months after they got married at 21 & 24 & not too long after they had yas they left for England
She was raised in Kent, England
The AtmosphereïżŒ led to her boho lifestyle...being exposed to castles, gardens, and underground tunnels from time to time shaped her into what she felt she was meant to be. She loved her second home
they call her âyazzyâ
Parents follow islam...Which Yasmin respects but is not strongly devoted to
Can speak & write in Arabic but seems to do better in writing
Her paternal grandparents fault her parents for not teaching her to excel at both & feel that if they werenât in such a rush to leave home she would speak Arabic better
Which made Yasmin feel like shit. Her paternal grandparents were strict on keeping their customs alive whereas her maternal grandparents were carefree as long as they got to see their granddaughter alive & well that was good enough for them
Idk maybe a only child or has a older brother? I donât feel like she comes from a big family sibling wise
her mother made her a stuffed purple sheep that she took everywhere with her as a kid & continues to keep close to her. Yâall had imaginary friends? Well Yasmin had a real friend she could see & squeeze the life out that didnât require talking and hugging the air, but thatâs fine do u
100% collects beanie babies until this day but lil yamb is the number one princess in her household
As her significant other you have to be okay with lil yamb sleeping in between yâall thatâs just the way it is
These stuffed babies are her comfort when no else can be
sheâs a singer/songwriter. Went to uni for it & finished a semester early
Went through multiple hell experiences when it came to interning & temping while still in school & after
Letâs just say she wasnât down to f*ck her way to the top
this made her anxiety act up, these people made her feel like she wouldnât be good enough to show the world her craft & itâs didnât have to be the world, just someone who would listen
But she couldnât give up, there was nothing else she saw herself doing. She knew this is what she was meant to do but she couldnât lie and say that her insecurities didnât get the best of her most days
Although the cons seemed to out way the Pros some days, she kept at it & found herself a solid team that knew what she was about and understood her soul
Was definitely the student who loved all her English classes & when she spoke up everyone found it shocking since she preferred to just write everything out rather than âparticipate in group discussionsâ
I feel like her singing voice sounds similar to Jessica mauboyâs (if you donât know who that is & youâre a fan of r&b/pop check her out or if youâre just curious that works too lol)
Knows her music notes like the back of her hand, duh!
Fav color is royal blue, especially on her eyelids & nails
Occasionally sleeps in rollers to keep her hair wavy
Needs her space when it comes to disagreements, they stress her out & she panics a bit when things go wrong so she feels like she needs to leave the situation rather than talk it out right then and there
Sheâll talk when sheâs ready, she just needs someone thatâs a little patient with her thatâs all
Words of affirmation is her love language? When she figures out how to balance her love life with her work life that is. When sheâs feeling confident sheâs smooth with words but when she needs to show you how much you mean to her & she really takes the time to think it out & feel her emotions, sheâs writing you a song or youâre the inspiration to it or a poem, leaving you little love notes on blue post-itâs around the house, will write 50 reasons why she loves you on Valentineâs Day, and will say so when itâs just the two of you in your own comfort
Isnât too crazy about public displays of affection but will deff hold your hand if thatâs something you or she wanted in that moment
I think sheâs fluid
Hasnât been in many relationships. Sure she goes on tour every other year and gets to meet many people but theyâre not solid relationships, theyâre hookups and she hasnât done many of those either
Had maybe one or two solid relationships: a androgynous woman that uses she/they pronouns & was in a rock band & a cis male she met at a tattoo parlor his step-brother owned (he kinda favored seb but weâre not going to speak on that)
I believe she wants to get married someday but isnât so keen on the idea of kids. The furthest sheâll go is adopting a couple of animals. Sheâll be a pet mom! I feel like sheâll be anxious looking after the life of a human being when itâs extremely hard to do so not only for herself and the love of her life & you want to add kids to the mix?! Fucking hell! but that could change? Who knows what life can throw at u
Has a hedgehog named Sonia that she drops off at her parents for their weekly sleepovers
Loves laceâmostly bralettes & crotchet clothing
I see her as a corduroy girl too. She has at least some rusty brown low-rise corduroy pants or/and a jacket
owns a crotchet kit, sheâs bloody good at it too
Loved pink & purple (still likes them, theyâre her 2nd & 3rd fav colors) so much as a kid that she tried to dye her hair half & half while her parents went out on their date night...it was also the weekend before school pictures :)
Says she got her inspiration from starfire & raven. She was only 13 at the time & had braces. Her father approved saying sheâs a kid and she should be allowed to express herself. He only said that because his own parents barely let him & his brothers have their own fun
Her mother thought it was atrocious and did her best to get it out with the help of her other hair stylists friends (her mother worked in plenty of beauty shops once she got to England, until she decided to convert their basement into her own shop) who she invited over to see what her daughter had done but when you use certain permanent dyes...
It didnât completely damage yasminâs hair plus it was just hair, Yasmin didnât see the big deal. She thought she looked splendid
Anyway, massive fan of ballroom dancing
Sheâs got a great ear to begin with so it was extremely fun twirling around while wearing pretty ballroom gowns
Took boring etiquette classes as a form of punishment? After the whole teen Titans inspiration thing âwent wrongâ
Enjoys western films
yes she owns a cowgirl hat & some boots too so sue her, she likes what she likes
Knows how to lasso but hates doing it to animals but sheâll do it to you :) (*gags* lmao why???)
Also loves visiting western towns & learning some history or at least experiencing what it was like
Type of significant other that will do her best to persuade you to stay in a treehouse airbnb, a cabin, the fucking Idaho potato, or camping out in her Volkswagen van in the middle of nowhere!
Has faux cow rugs, wicker baskets, wicker chairs in her flat, hangs some plants in glass jars & bottles all over her house
Her flat is very bright & vibrant: white, mocha brown, tan, yellows, & pastel purple
When it comes to decision making, sheâll make them pretty quick but only if it comes to choosing desserts
nobody is touching her momâs meskouta orange cake WITH syrup
the dessert eater that always picks the one that has a surprise inside, meaning it has to ooze out with SOMETHING to make it 10x more satisfying
Leaning towards Buddhism, had studied some of their beliefs and found it resonates with her spirit
Fan of neon lights, probably has a few neon signs in her flat preferably on her brick wall in the loo, âto give u comfort as you go!â âthat...actually makes sense.â Tai commented as he rubbed his chin coming to terms with yasminâs reply. While Iona scowls, âno, no it doesnât. I feel as if itâs an invasion of my bits!â â...Sorry you feel that way.â
tai & ciaran are automatically deemed as her brothers since she came into the villa with them. She had time to connect with them unlike anyone else. It was just the way the stars wrote their story and it showed outside of the villa too. they often crash at her place all the time when theyâre in town & vacation all the time together when their schedules line up + it never feels like sheâs third wheeling
âTaiTowerâ & âBB-Ciâ are their names in her phone, Tai picked his own name while the âbbâ stands for âbest budsâ for ciaran âwhich is a joke since he drunkly called himself so + he loves everyone when heâs drunk
You can always count on her to belt the lyrics to a Chaka Khan, TLC, or paula abdul joint when sheâs drunk lol
As for the girls? Sheâs close with miki đ they just seem to be on the same wavelength when it comes to the pressure of the media since they have some sort of fame which increased with them being on the Telly. They bond over that & from there theyâve built a solid friendship
She could also be friends with AJ too (if you didnât get swiped from her that is lmao!) theyâre sorta opposites with aj being high energy/active while Yasmin is more mellow & âmysteriousâ but seem to connect in different ways: their sexual indentities, insecurities/anxieties, having something to be passionate about but at the same time maybe not? She might lean towards elladine or Genevieve if she had to make a choice?
Aquarius sun + cancer moon
so sheâs still 23 yâall, I got it! I canât do math sorry
âFreddie Mercury was probably my dad in my past life.â
Can play the banjo, guitar, & oud
Participates in hot yoga weekly
If sheâs not with mc in the end and continues dating around if anyone from season two: LUCAS, Kassam, Gary, Rocco, maybe Blake? I originally thought Elisa but sheâs probably too much for yas letâs be honest here lol theyâd be better off as friends
Omg I forgot marisol! Imagine that?! Whew!!!
Season three: maybe Lily? But what if? Me being the slightly messy bitch that I am? Something happening with her & AJ. Now that?! Would be some chaotic shit âfrom the outside looks of itâ name the irrelevant ïżŒperson behind the quote...now!
Iâd like to see her interact with allerga but there could be something with her & cherry. Iâm thinking cherry, Yasmin, & priya would bond well but weâre not here to talk about that
Getting rid of the physical aspect I genuinely think sheâd do well with marisol, Lucas, or kassam. Theyâd mesh well I think in a relationship
Sheâs a body shimmer girl for sure!
Loves silk or satin robes
sheâs a shortie, 5â2 to 5â5
Is learning Spanish
Loves arcade games, come see her in pinball & Pac-Man!
Quarantine life did not change her lifestyle much, but it did slightly mess with her mental health :/
loves the fall time, feels like she can slow down some and really spend time with family and friends
I feel like she has one best friend outside of the villa & thatâs good enough for her!
They met their first year in uni & been close ever since
She doesnât speak to the temporary friends she grew up with anymore & is often confused why they feel the need to keep up with her in the media which added more annoying worries to her heart but whatever right? Keep your eyes on the horizon
celebs she finds/found attractive: Aaliyahâespecially when she played in queen of the damned, Kehlani, Zazie Beetz, Fivel & Booboo Stewart, Lakeith stanfield, Leah Lewis, Sofia Carson, Ryan gosling, & Nick Jonas
She listens to: jade bird, Yebba, Elli Ingram, Wafia, Zeina, Summer walker, TanerĂšlle, Mariah the scientist, Teyana Taylor, Tove Lo, lady Gaga, Ra Ra Riot, Empire of the sun, & smallpools
Anthem? Diana Gordon â Rollinâ

Why So Jaded Chapter 8
FFN AO3Â
Enjoy.Â
Chapter 8
Violet was all too happy to get Buddy out of SEB and even let him drive her SUV to where they needed to go on her first official "Raid Day". Where all the "spiders" would be "sleeping" and it would give Buddy and Violet some breathing room.
"Oh my God, may the heavens themselves bless you, I almost forgot how nice it is to drive and not be driven around everywhere." Buddy thanked her gratefully as he drove her very nice SUV around Metroville, surprisingly remembering his way around here as he marveled at how the city had grown and developed since he drove around in it last.
"So are we clear?" Buddy breathed.
"Yes, all the "spiders" are sleeping. They're not gone but they're sleeping. And I've been practicing turning some that Phillip doesn't control and isn't keeping track of off and on again along with every other one I can get my hands on so I can turn them on and off on my own." Violet divulged.
"You do realize that you are officially the coolest person I know right? Like that is mind blowing cool." Buddy told her which got her to giggle as he drove them to their first destination because Buddy had surprised Violet with breakfast in his apartment.Â
"Thanks, I try, I just needed to witness them being put to sleep in order to figure out how to do it. Because all I've been able to do before is just know that they're on and where they are. But that's it, I mean there have been a few that I've purposefully overpowered and fried. Like turning a burner on its highest setting. But I hadn't been able to figure out how to turn it down." Violet continued.
"That's a really good metaphor." Buddy realized.
"Thanks." Violet grinned and Buddy looked over to see her hand resting on her arm rest and resisted the urge to just reach over and hold her hand before they went to a butcher shop to get their main course as Buddy was all too happy to give her some pointers and how to pick out a great steak or chop, and then it was onto a Merry Cherry to order a good cake for dessert that Violet would be picking up Saturday morning and then to a big box store to get all kinds of things, from a playpen and toys for the kids to other ingredients and then they stopped for lunch at one of Violet's favorite places to get lunch on her days off when she wasn't in a suit, which was a 'FUBU' Mexican place which she explained was a "For Us, By Us" Mexican place and Buddy was impressed when she spoke flawless Spanish in ordering for them.
"How many languages do you speak?" Buddy asked.
"A lot." Violet answered.
"How many is 'a lot'." Buddy posed curiously.
"Take a guess." Violet prompted.
"Obviously, at least two." Buddy guessed as he dug into the chips and salsa.
"Higher." Violet gestured for him to up his guess as she helped him decimate the delicious chips and salsa because both were super fresh and delicious.
"Five?" Buddy blinked and his eyebrows rose in surprise when she gestured to go higher.
"Ten?" Buddy pressed.
"Close, 12, complete fluent languages."
"What are they? Can you tell me?" Buddy prodded.
"English, Latin- and it's the Latin that made learning Italian and Spanish a breeze but I learned Mexican Spanish first and then Spain Spanish second. Let's see- I know French, Turkish, Arabic, Chinese Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Russian and lastly Portuguese, I know bits and pieces of Swedish, German, Hindi and Greek. So technically more like 16. But I have to because Phillip is a world traveler and businessman and wants to make sure that he understands what everyone around him is saying, because again, paranoid." Violet explained.
"That and I already knew most of those before I ever worked for him because of my other work." Violet shrugged nonchalantly.
"And that's why you're the best at what you do." Buddy realized.
"It's one of the things, yes." Violet agreed before their tacos and other ingredients were brought out.
"Ok, these tacos are already amazing but to make them better, squeeze the lime to cut the fat, a spoonful of rice, a scoop of refried beans, a dash of mole, cover in queso, and just a dab of the green salsa unless you love really spicy then add the red and viola, the perfect taco." Violet urged as she did what she preferred to her own tacos as Buddy copied her pattern as they lifted their tacos and bumped them together.
"Cheers," they both smiled at each other before they each took their first bites before Buddy outright moaned and Violet giggled again and hummed in agreement.
"Oh, oh this is amazing." Buddy praised between mouthfuls.
"Now you see why I like to come here. FUBU anything is always better than the "mainstream" version and these are handmade, hand pressed corn tortillas that were being made as we were ordering and you always double up on the tortillas." Violet appraised.
"How many other little gems like this have you found in the city?" Buddy asked.
"Oh, dozens. Any and every kind of ethnic food you can think of, all of them 'FUBU's' . A year ago, in an effort to get a break from all the spiders, I would take myself out to lunch all on my own, I'd leave all the electronics in the car and park it like down the street and sometimes over a street from where I was really going and take like an hour and a half lunches, trying to find all these little hole in the wall places where there wasn't so many watching eyes and listening ears. And along the way, I found some amazing food and then I never showed any of them to him. Because I didn't want him to invade what little spaces of freedom and breathing room I had found. Not that he would be caught dead in any eatery that didn't have a five star rating and at least one Michelin star."
"So why are you bringing me to a place like this?" Buddy asked.
"Because I have a very good feeling you won't invade them. That you'll appreciate sharing them with me, and if anything happens and I disappear, it'll be one of the few places I'll reappear in." Violet answered softly.
"Well, count me honored and privileged then and if I'm ever in a position that I think I'm being tailed, I won't come anywhere near here or anywhere else you would take me, cause I would hate for an invasion, much less an infestation to take place." Buddy vowed.
"Good." Violet smiled appreciatively.
Once they finished lunch, which ended up taking a few hours because they got lost in conversation, they went to Violet's favorite wine and liquor store that was huge because they had everything under the sun where Buddy felt like a kid in a candy store as Violet showed him all her favorites and made suggestions based on his chosen menu and Buddy noticed that the more the day progressed, the closer to him she came, to the point that she was always taking his arm when they were walking side by side or simply standing looking at wines and other spirits and he was all too happy to get her doors for her and did his best to be a perfect gentleman which Violet appreciated and it was there in the cold room of the liquor store where Violet and Buddy were staring at one of many walls of floor to ceiling craft beer before none other than Keith and Greg showed up since they just got off of work and stopped in their tracks and stared when they saw Buddy in there with Violet as they huddled together in the cold room, trying to pick out beers but Violet didn't really drink beer and Buddy didn't either so they weren't sure what exactly they were looking at.
"Bud?" They called out before Buddy turned his head.
"Hey guys." Buddy greeted happily as Violet put on a friendly smile since she had already been running background checks on them and recognized them from meeting them in Vegas when Buddy had introduced them to her formally at the casino.
"Are you out on a walk?" They teased Buddy.
"He is, I figured if I held his hand, he wouldn't have to be on a leash." Violet answered with a shit eating grin which got them all to laugh as she slipped her hand into Buddy's and held it for emphasis but wouldn't let it go and Buddy was unbelievably pleased about that and gently squeezed it a little in appreciation.
"It would look a little strange." Greg allowed.
"Especially when he has to wear a shock collar to go with it." Violet clicked her teeth with a wink that got all of them to erupt into further laughter as Buddy's cheeks were beet red along with his ears and suddenly the cold room wasn't so cold anymore.
"So you're into that kind of thing?" Keith teased Violet.
"No, it was just a dig." Violet answered with a shake of her head.
"Damn." Buddy sarcastically snapped his fingers in his other hand in mock disappointment as Violet raised a challenging brow at him.
"I mean, whew, am I glad you're not." Buddy re-answered with a cheesy grin which earned some snickers from his friends as Violet just chuckled and shook her head.
"I'm gonna go back out and check out the cordials with the cart and warm back up, you guys can stay and pick out beer, help him pick out something you guys will like and enjoy on Saturday." Violet offered sweetly before she excused herself and Buddy immediately missed her by his side.
"Dude!" Keith quietly congratulated as he came and did the handshake hug with Buddy.
"Bud, be careful, you're playing with fire." Greg warned as he did the same.
"I know there's a risk for both of us, that's why we're just friends." Buddy reassured Greg.
"You didn't look "just friends" when we came in, you guys looked like 'cute couple' and even 'wow what's a dime like her doing with a nickel like him'." Keith murmured as he got to work getting some really good beers for Buddy to take to Violet which earned a humph from Buddy.
"Really? I'm a five." Buddy deadpanned.
"Four, five was generous." Greg added with a playful punch to the shoulder as Buddy gave him an unimpressed look.
"Sad part is I agree. So what beers should we get?" Buddy asked.
"Oh Dragon's Milk for sure. We need to cover the bases, we need to get a good stout or two, perhaps a porter, maybe a couple of lagers and pilsners and IPA's to round it out." Keith urged as he started pulling out what looked good.
"You and craft beers." Greg just shook his head at Keith who started handing him six packs and four packs before he handed the others to Buddy to hold.
"Yeah, but I'm grateful because anything other than whiskey or vodka and I'm lost." Buddy shrugged.
"Speaking of how are you doing with that?" Greg asked.
"Doing good, surprisingly." Buddy answered honestly.
"Well with a tall glass of water like the one you're with. I'd think you'd want to stay sober so you don't miss a second of her." Keith answered before he snagged two dessert beers himself.
"This is true." Buddy agreed with a fond grin.
"You know, even though she's kind of off limits. She did look pretty happy with you and vice versa. Whenever I see her with Phillip, she looks so serious and looks like she's just always on and always working and can't relax. With you it's like she's just hanging out and it's a lot more casual." Keith appraised.
"And you would be absolutely right and that's why she likes hanging out with me more than him." Buddy grinned victoriously.
"Just don't screw the pooch by screwing the boss' pet." Greg warned.
"Like I said, just friends...so far." Buddy admitted as he tried to keep his smile in check because the thought of anything more was too much to hope for yet strangely well within reach.
"So you've thought about it." Greg prodded.
"Yeah, I mean I'm still alive and have a pulse don't I?" Buddy returned as his friends hummed and murmured their agreement to that sentiment.
"Yeah I thought I saw your smile grow a little brighter when she held your hand and teased you like a proper girlfriend." Keith grinned.
"Ok, I don't know about you guys but I'm freezing my ass off in here, can we be done? Please?" Buddy requested before Keith grabbed one more.
"Yes, now we're done." Keith assured him as the three managed to get out and look through the store for Violet who was perusing the cheeses because the liquor store had a couture snack market to go with all the wine and spirits and had a really good selection and was putting some cheeses and crackers together and was getting hit on by some guy who was trying to lean into her personal space while he spit his best game at her and judging by her own body language, she was doing what she could to ignore him.
"Here's your chance, play her boyfriend and scare off the creeper, do it, do it, do it!" Keith urged in an excited whisper to Buddy who was already picking up his steps to come to her rescue.
"Honey? You pick out the cheeses you wanted?" Buddy took a chance and asked as he slipped the beer into the cart next to her and the smile Violet gave him was pure magic.
"Almost, I can't decide between the brie and the camembert. Did you guys get enough beer?" Violet giggled as Keith and Greg unloaded their beers into the cart too as she held up the cheeses in question to Buddy.
"I think we should get both." Buddy decided.
"Very smart decision Dear. I knew there was a reason I married you." Violet cooed as she stole into his side after she slipped them into the basket of the cart with the others.
"Oh, I..I didn't see aâŠ" the guy tried to say as he started backing up at the sight of Buddy and his friends around him and knew he was outmanned and outgunned.
"Oh it's at the jewelers, one of the accent diamonds was coming loose." Violet waived off. "You ready to check out Handsome?" Violet urged Buddy as she practically moved Buddy into place pushing the cart so she could still wrap her hand around the crook of his elbow as he pushed it.
"If you are Darlin." Buddy answered as he followed her lead.
"Then let's go." Violet agreed as they walked to the check out as Violet let her head fall on Buddy's shoulder as they waited in line before she kissed his shoulder.
"Thanks for the save." Violet thanked him as she let her lips linger there and the utter delight in her eyes had Buddy hoping and praying and wishing on every lucky star he had that one day he'd make that a reality.
"You're welcome." Buddy answered before he took a chance and kissed her forehead sweetly which practically made her beam a happy smile at him as Keith and Greg knew then, that there were serious sparks there and were torn between being happy for their friend yet terrified for them both.
"You guys are gonna help us load all this up right?" Violet put to Keith and Greg who were buying their own packs of beer as they stood in line behind Violet and Buddy.
"Yeah, of course." They agreed from their place behind them and once through the line, the guys did their best "Tetris" it all into the back of Violet's SUV with everything else they had bought.
"Guys, it would be appreciated if not a word is breathed about what happened in there." Buddy reminded his friends as Violet was happy and relieved that he said something instead of her having to.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Greg answered.
"I didn't even know anything even happened." Keith shrugged.
"Thanks guys." Violet answered appreciatively as Buddy smiled proudly.
"Well, say hi to the missus' from us. See you Saturday guys." Buddy bid them before he opened the door for Violet to get in the SUV before going around and getting in it himself and was pleasantly surprised when Violet laced her fingers in his after he got the SUV in gear.
"Thank you for saying something to them, it meant that I didn't have to slip back into Ms. Parr and could just stay Violet." Violet thanked him in a soft murmur but her adoring smile was utterly divine.
"I didn't want that to happen either, if there's anything I can say or do to keep you as Violet, doesn't matter who I'm with, just let me know." Buddy returned as he chanced a gentle squeeze to her hand and was happy when she squeezed back but made no move to remove her hand from his.
"So where did you want to go out to dinner?" Buddy asked.
"Ok, I know another really good place." Violet answered as he gave him directions on where to go where she brought him to a dim sum/tapas place that was run by a couple where the wife was Chinese and her husband was from Spain and it worked beautifully as Violet once again ordered off both menus in both languages since their server was the couple's daughter and was herself trilingual, flipping from one to the other flawlessly to get all her favorites and Buddy was utterly enchanted to see her smile so excitedly and once all the food came out and soon covered every surface of the table and the dim sum had to be triple stacked because the tapas couldn't be, Buddy just beamed a proud smile to see her do a happy dance as she uncovered everything before she went around and identified everything that she ordered before she got her own plate and began getting one of everything, using her chopsticks like a pro before going for the soup dumplings first and walked Buddy through trying to eat them without burning his mouth before they alternated between the tapas and dim sum, slowly but surely getting through most of it, and making sure to at least try one of everything and Buddy felt he would have to loosen his belt and ate until he was just about stuffed.
"Ok, we have to get one more, it's a dessert dumpling." Violet said as she waived down the waitress and ordered what she wanted before she nodded and left again.
"I don't know if I could eat much more Vi." Buddy admitted as he took a breath, and tried not to belch too loudly.
"Just one more bite, find that extra pocket everyone keeps for dessert and get it ready to receive amazingness." Violet urged as she organized what they would be taking home in leftovers in the to-go boxes and in a few moments one last steamer box was brought out and Buddy could smell chocolate.
"Behold, chocolate soup dumplings, with chocolate, Nutella and bananas." Violet revealed as she took the top off as Buddy oohed. Then he carefully got the little pillow of mochi dough surrounding the gooey center and Buddy melted in his seat when he bit into it.
"See? Best last bite." Violet urged as she began to bire into one of her own.
"Do you know how to make this?" Buddy asked.
"Yes I do. The mochi dough is hard but the filling is easy." Violet answered as she finished hers just about the same time Buddy did.
"Do you want another or are you good?" Violet asked.
"I'm good, now if I take another bite, I'll pop." Buddy admitted.
"Wouldn't want that to happen." Violet replied with a fond smile before she checked the time.
"Well, we have two hours before our 12 hours of freedom is up. How do you want to spend it?" Violet asked.
"I don't care. However you want to spend it." Buddy returned.
"Could you do me a favor?" Violet asked thoughtfully as she tilted her head curiously.
"Name it." Buddy furthered.
"As sad and shallow as this is going to sound, I have not hung out socially with anyone except for other "gifted" individuals. In...well in years and being from a "gifted" family, all they know are other "gifted" people too and with other gifted people, you don't worry about hiding your gifts cause everyone has them and we always play and try to one up each other. So to try to be "normal" yet feel comfortable is going to be especially hard for me. It's going to be a challenge for me to stay Violet especially when I'm around anyone and everyone, but you, as Ms. Parr or simply "Vi" with my family. So...would you help me pick something to wear? Like set the tone, something actually casual but nice but not...intimidating. Because Ms. Parr is always commanding and intimidating wherever she goes and I don't want to be like that with your friends cause they'll never feel comfortable around me and if they're not comfortable, it's going to ruin it and this is your first social visit and I want it to go well and I don't want to ruin it for you. And I would ask Jack but he would see to it that I come in head to toe designer labels." Violet confessed lowly as they once again leaned across the table so they could drop their voices and have a private conversation despite the very busy restaurant.
"Of course." Buddy agreed.
"Awesome, then let me pay for dinner and we'll go." Violet offered and once they got their things, Violet directed Buddy to one of the high rise apartment buildings in town. Not the most luxurious, but close.
"Ok, now go to the tenth floor of the parking garage and park in parking space 10245." Violet directed as Buddy did as she asked, still not letting go of her hand as he drove his way up the parking garage. Not surprised when he saw a sea of Mercedes Benz, BMW's, Land Rovers and even some classic cars and sports cars before he found the right spot and parked her SUV into it before they got out and walked into the building where a doorman let them in from behind tinted glass of the entry way.
"Good evening Ms. Parr."
"Good evening James, how's Linda faring today?" Violet returned politely.
"She's doing better, thanks for asking." He answered before he looked questioningly from Violet to Buddy.
"Awesome, this is my guest Mr. Bartholomew Pine, This is Mr. James Conner. " Violet introduced before the two shook hands inside the entryway.
"Welcome to Sky Way, Mr. Pine." James said as he opened the door both of them as Violet came into the building and into the lobby of the floor.
"Good evening Ms. Parr." The receptionist greeted cheerfully.
"Good evening Samantha, how are you this evening?" Violet politely greeted.
"I'm doing great, thanks for asking, you have three packages today. Let me go get those for you from cold storage." She said as she quickly left and went into the office behind the desk and promptly returned with three packages, which were chilled before Buddy offered to carry them for Violet which Violet was grateful for before Buddy went with Violet to her apartment where she opened the door for him so he could get in and Violet blew out a breath of relief when she could tell that the "spiders" were still sleeping in her apartment.
"You can put them on the island." Violet directed as she got her actual mail that had been scattered on the floor since it overflowed the little mail basket and threw a small forcefield around all of it and pulled it back to her hand.
"That's a neat trick." Buddy commented as he passed her in the little hallway.
"Thanks, Jack calls it my 'yo-yo' powers. It comes in pretty handy so I don't have to bend over and pick anything up off the floor." Violet murmured a little distractedly as she looked over her mail and sighed as she began to look through it and started to organize it according to what it was before she used her powers to yo-yo two letter openers into her hand once they both came to stand at her kitchen island.
"You get the packages, I get the mail." Violet offered as she handed him one of them.
"Ok." Buddy agreed and took it and started opening her boxes which were all meal kits, which was why they were in cold storage to keep the contents fresh before he put all the food away for her as Violet opened her mail as she opened her bills first and looked those over before she opened all her other mail, ignoring the junk mail and going straight to the checks and opened those before she got a pen from a drawer in the island and signed the checks then got her phone out and took pictures of her checks to deposit them into her accounts directly before she put the checks into an envelope with the date written on the envelope to signify which checks she got which days before she put the envelope into a filing cabinet under the month folder.
Buddy couldn't help but notice that her income was far exceeding her expenses but kept his observations to herself as he realized her apartment was just as nice, if not nicer than his own apartment space. Quite luxurious and modern actually.
"You have a nice apartment." Buddy praised.
"Thanks, I'm never here enough to enjoy it, I only sleep here and eat about two meals a week here. Phillip insisted that I stay at a "safe, protected and respectable" place, so that left either here or a place at Green Gardens or Garden Square where he owns the penthouse there and that was way too close to comfort for me. Besides it has a spider and a mole problem and in two years when I'm not working for Phillip, I'll very happily be walking away from it." Violet answered as she took off her jacket and put it into the closet.
"I can take your jacket." Violet offered before Buddy took off his jacket and handed it to her.
"A mole problem?" Buddy repeated.
"Yeah not only does this place have thirty something "spiders" but the door men at both the ground level and this floor and half the reception staff and every single one of my neighbors on all sides are on Phillip's payroll to keep tabs on me and if I had to guess Phillip just got either two calls or texts or whatever saying that I've taken you to my place and so the spiders are about to wake up here, any minute." Violet predicted as she closed her eyes and focused on them around the place.
"Jeeze. Yeah, gilded cage." Buddy realized as he looked around and suddenly frowned at all of it, wondering where the spiders had their webs.
"Yup. So, let's go to my closet." Violet urged as Buddy followed her to her frankly gorgeous bedroom before she opened up a door that led to the most amazing walk in closet that was practically full of gorgeous dressy business clothes, handbags and heels before Buddy noticed that Violet stopped and stared at a little sliver of regular looking clothes before she took them all off the rack and then laid them over the bed before she decided to try to pull just a few of her more flattering blouses.
"Too much?" Violet asked as she held them out for Buddy as she held them in front of herself.
"No, like if you were to pair that with a pair of jeans it would be just fine. Granted Tammy, Lisa and Beth are probably going to dress up just a little bit too. You don't have to compete with them and you don't have to be the most beautiful woman in the room, I mean you will be no matter what, but that's just my opinion, but this isn't a competition. Just be Violet. Wear what you would if you were hosting a get together at your place with people you're comfortable with. Wear what you would be comfortable in. Remember almost all of them have kids and kids are messy so don't wear anything that won't be the end of the world if Beth's baby throws up on you or the kids decide to finger paint you with ketchup or something." Buddy explained as Violet just smiled appreciatively at him.
"Well, these are dry clean only, so something washable." Violet decided as she put them back and went through her other blouses before she came across one of her favorites that would 1. Make her look beautiful. 2. Was machine washable. 3. Not too dressy and it would go with the necklace Buddy had gotten for her that she had yet to take off.
"This." Violet decided before she held it up to her jeans before she found a nice pair of jeans to go with it.
"Perfect." Buddy nodded in approval.
"Are you sure it's not too dressy?" Violet questioned.
"You'll be fine. Honestly you could show up in just a plain t shirt and jeans and be fine." Buddy reassured her.
"Well, ok, well how about I pack, this and...this. Just in case Beth's baby practically leaks out of every orifice." Violet decided as she gathered what she wanted and put them into a small duffle bag before throwing in some unmentionables quickly from her dresser as Buddy simply sat on the bench at the foot of her bed and contentedly watched as she got what she wanted from around the room as he fantasized about how she would pack if they were actually together and he had told her that he was taking them away on vacation as he thought of all the places he would like to take her as he started to fidget with the skin around his left ring finger, wondering what kind of wedding ring she would get him if they ever did or could get married. He remembered fantasizing the same thing with Tali. But part of him was grateful that she had turned him down, because if she hadn't he would have never grown out of his obsession. And would have she been truly happy with him? Especially the person he was back then? Or would she have felt the way Violet felt about Phillip? Grin and bear it and then bolt at the first opportunity as he realized what had been Tali's breaking point. When he had shot down the plane that had them all on it. He had been so hell bent on revenge on Mr. Incredible that he hadn't even felt the slightest bit of guilt or shame in ordering to kill kids. He had no respect for the sanctity of life, especially young and innocent life and how much he deserved what he had gotten. He had earned it. That was for sure.
"You ok?" Violet asked as she noticed Buddy get withdrawn as he seemed to stare off into space before she settled next to him and reached out and held his hand again and brought him out of it.
"Yeah." Buddy took a deep breath and tried to clear his head of his accusing thoughts.
"Just deep in thought." Buddy tried to brush off.
"About what?" Violet asked curiously.
"The spiders are still sleeping." Violet whispered as she decided to rest her chin on his shoulder again and give him a curious look.
"Just wondering how close the parallels are between Tali and I and you and Phillip." Buddy confessed and Violet took a deep breath through her nose.
"Would you be surprised to learn not a lot?" Violet returned.
"I was an asshole, how could she stand me?" Buddy questioned, almost rhetorically before Violet lifted her head and just shook her head with a fond grin of her lips.
"Because of who she was at the time herself. You were strong and powerful and knew how to throw your weight around and she felt that you were simply misunderstood and she was genuinely attracted to all of that, especially when you treated her like a goddess and catered to her every need, want and whim and she was bound and determined to turn the two of you into a powerhouse couple. Be the next Beyoncé and Jay-Z but of the tech world. She appreciated your genius and knew it would just be a matter of time before the rest of the world recognized and appreciated it too and she was in it for the long haul. And if you hadn't tried to blow me and my family up and then when we survived how you treated us when you captured us, even as kids. Those were the steps too far and really bothered her conscience as they should have anyone. Otherwise she would have stayed. But messing with kids was her line in the sand as is mine. And when you stomped on it, that shook her hard enough to really see you for who you really were in that moment and it made her question if her genuine attraction was to you or to everything around you and question if it was worth it and she decided it wasn't. So she acted accordingly." Violet explained, not sugar coating it but telling him the truth, but still trying to be tactful.
"She made the right choice." Buddy concluded.
"She did." Violet nodded, proud of him for seeing that too.
"But the biggest difference is, her relationship with you was built on genuine, mutual respect that grew from there. Phil's relationship with me isn't. It's built off of power and control and manipulation and secrets and lies on both sides and Phillip adores Invisigirl and Ms. Parr -which is what his own fantasy of who I am is- that I have to live up to whether it's real or not and it doesn't matter how much I like it or hate it, it's part of the performance and he's happy with the act and buys the performance over and over again and he's never bothered to get to know Violet, the real Violet anyway. But you have, so our relationship is built off of um, let's seeâŠ." Violet took a deep breath and sighed as she brought his hand into her lap to consider how nicely their fingers interlaced together as she once again was drawn to all the scars on his hand as she couldn't help but trace them as she searched her thoughts and feelings for a moment.
"I feel ours is built on genuine mutual respect, honesty, understanding, sympathy and empathy and kindness. Which all good relationships should have and be built on to begin with, no matter what kind of relationship it is. And it's why it works as well as it does. Even with our shared history." Violet honestly appraised as Buddy carefully considered her words and was elated that it was even that much.
"What do you think?" Violet posed as she turned to him and looked at him curiously.
"I agree. Even though I'm not all that respectable, I'm aâŠ"
"Don't. Don't start down that self deprecating pity party of a path. You're better than that and it's not fair to the guy you are now. In the past you were misguided and self righteous and vengeful. And then Karma handed you your ass and you humbly took the beating. And it's what you did after and since- that's mattered and it's what you're doing now that matters the most and who you are in this moment that matters too. Especially to me. Forgive yourself for the rest. I know I have." Violet appraised as the two shared a meaningful look and just as Violet gave his lips a glance as Buddy did the same and was seriously considering kissing her, her eyes went wide and she withdrew and bolted a few steps from him.
"Spiders are waking up." Violet whispered as she did her best to look and act "natural" again but even Buddy could see, the Violet he adored, shrunk back and Ms. Parr stepped back into the fore, he saw it in her posture and body language and Buddy was once again filled with anger and resentment towards Phillip, for doing such a thing to her. She deserved better than to live in fear, even in her own private space. Which should be sacred.
"Well, it's about that time Mr. Pine, we should be heading back, thanks for all your help." Violet thanked him as she put the bag over her shoulder and held onto it tightly as Buddy got up and left with her again and even in her SUV, Violet stayed withdrawn and eerily quiet as Buddy drove them back to SEB and the whole way over Buddy just got more and more angry and resentful to Phillip.
Violet stowed her bag of clothes in Buddy's room, in the closet before she helped Buddy unload everything else from her SUV and it was almost enjoyable to see and feel them slipping back into such domestic tasks in an effortless tandem. Even as mundane as putting away groceries was. But even Buddy could tell that Violet stayed withdrawn as Ms. Parr had taken over fully again because there was a surgical precision to her movements. She was trying to get things done as quickly and thoroughly as she could. Just a step below rushing before Buddy simply stopped and held her hands.
"The spiders won't always be around." Buddy breathed.
"I know. It's hard to know when they'll go to sleep again." Violet answered, her words barely a whisper before she reluctantly pulled her hands from his with an apologetic look as she finished what she needed to.
"Thanks for today though, I'll see you in the morning Mr. Pine." Violet said as she put her shoes back on before she left and drove home and finished putting her mail away and broke down her boxes and put them in a closet where she kept spare boxes to ship things out and was grateful that the "spiders" in her own apartment had been put back to sleep before she got ready for bed, brushing her hair and braiding it so it wouldn't tangle in her sleep and when she went to bed, she thought over all the events of the day in her head and actually smiled softly in the darkness. Buddy had been amazing, all day, and for him to slip into 'boyfriend/husband' at the liquor store had been so natural for both of them. Had her wishing maybe someday...because she couldn't deny or dismiss the feelings she had started to develop for him. It had started off as just two birds in side by side cages, sharing a toy or two. And it developed and bloomed from there. Natalia had even said that she had always been surprised when her attachment to Buddy had seemingly grown overnight and how one day she was his employee, and the next, she was his everything in all things. And how that seemed for her to be the same. One day, he was an an enemy, the next- an obligation and objective, the day after, an acquaintance, the next day he was a friend, and the day after that it felt like he was so much more but she was so scared of putting any names or labels on any of it because she didn't want to try to force it into anything or cut it into shape before it could fully sprout. She was genuinely curious to see how much more this would develop and bloom, like a growing vine despite the concrete around it.
But there was the issue of his name. Buddy wasn't exactly the most romantic name to call out during the throws of passion, Bud was informal but not quite right, although all his friends called him Bud. Buddy was a little infantilizing. Buddy is what you called other little boys on the playground when you didn't know their names. Bart was too old. Barret could possibly work before she got her phone and looked up common nicknames for Bartholomew. Barty was ridiculous. Tolly was too much like Tali. So that left...Barly, possible, but maybe too similar to barley, the grain, Barret, kind of like the gun, but it was the only good alternative she could like. But she needed something other than dead give away pet names, like Honey, Darling, Baby, Sweetie, Handsome that kind of thing that Phillip would immediately flag and get jealous and suspicious over, but still something a little more intimate than 'Bud' . Something she could use that was special but not something that would make others look at her strangely if she started to use it. It would be good on Raid days to call him something to go with Violet or Vi. Violet still came to the conclusion that Barret was as good as it was going to get because Barret and Violet did go together. Maybe he had something he preferred? Maybe something to do with his middle name. Maybe. But for now, she just needed sleep.
Violet found herself walking through another very luxurious home like space, normally, such a thing would make her a little nervous but she wasn't because Buddy was with her and held her hand as he excitedly showed her everything and explained what was what. And she was dressed casually and happily walked around barefoot as the windows were open and there was a warm breeze and bright sunshine coming in from all the windows, most of which were open and she could almost hear the ocean and to see him so animated and excited as she showed it off made her happy that he was happy. And that's all that mattered.
"And this is the bedroom, it has the best views." Buddy insisted as he opened the double doors for her before he brought her into the space as Violet softly gasped. It was even prettier than any bedroom she had ever seen in any magazine.
"We need to check out the bed." Buddy immediately hopped up on the bed, his own bare feet sinking into the softness of the mattress and the covers as he held out his hand to beckon her before she stood up on it with him before he started to bounce which got her to laugh as she started bouncing too before the two of them were outright jumping and bouncing all over the bed, laughing their asses off before they happily fell down and crashed into the bed on their backs next to each other as their laughter eventually died down.
"So what do you think of the house?" Buddy asked as they rolled to face each other.
"I love it. Even if you had not designed and practically built it yourself, and even if we had just bought it, I would still love it." Violet insisted as the two scooted closer to each other until they were chest to chest with Buddy's hand softly stroking down her back and her side as Violet reached around him and scratched his back, dipping her hands under his shirt to scratch at his bare skin, which earned her an appreciative keen from him as he rolled over her slightly to one- pin her to the bed, two- give her more access to his back.
"Really? You're not just saying that?" Buddy asked.
"I mean every word of it. Honest. It's perfect, you did so good, I'm so proud of you." Violet cooed before he dipped her head and kissed her happily as she kissed him back with all she was worth as the two of them seemed to follow a familiar pattern and chain of events as they pulled down the covers down as they tried to bare the other before they were finally rejoined.
"I'm not hurting you or the baby am I?" Buddy asked as he palmed her belly which had barely bulged as he positioned himself over her and began stroking himself into her.
"No, you're not, you're fine, I'm just happy the house is done before they come." Violet reassured him as she pulled him to herself so she could feel more of his body weight anchoring her in all the ways she needed it to before he continued.
"Me too." Buddy cooed in her ear before he playfully bit it before blazing a trail from her ear down her neck to her shoulder as Violet keened and sighed happily, letting him do as he pleased as she was all too happy to receive his affections as he poured all the love he possessed into her as she did the same.

Into The Unknown, Part 4
First
Previous
It was late at night and Tim was having problems sleeping.
Marinette wasnât, clearly. She had pulled on one of his old t-shirts and passed out pretty much the moment she had touched the bed. She was a cuddler when she was asleep, he had found out when she had started wrapping herself around one of his arms. Heâd pushed her off, then heâd tried scooting⊠and then heâd fallen off the bed in an attempt to leave distance between them. The moment heâd hit the floor sheâd spread out starfish style and taken up the entire bed.
(He was beginning to regret the fake marriage thing, this was definitely going to become a nightly problem if they didnât want people questioning their marriage stability.)
Heâd finally managed to successfully thwart her attempts by sticking his second pillow between them. Sheâd been peacefully clinging to it in the hour or so since, dreaming away.
Tim, however, was not so lucky...
It wasnât for lack of trying, of course. In fact, logic dictated that he should have fallen unconscious a long time ago because he hadnât managed to get his hands on almost any coffee that day. No, he certainly should have been able to sleep.
The only thing stopping him was Damian.
You see, every time he neared blissful unconsciousness, Damian would make these⊠sounds. They almost sounded like whimpers. Tim would jolt out of bed to make sure the kid wasnât choking. Heâd looked it up, and Damian shouldnât choke because there was nothing near him to choke on, but dear god was it hard to believe that when the kid made those little squeaks every time he shifted in bed.
But it was nearing three in the morning, now. And Damian wouldnât stop. And Tim was so tired.
He sighed and reached into the crib and picked up the baby.
Damian began to cry, angry at being woken up, and Tim hurriedly grabbed the pacifier from the crib in hopes that it would get the kid to shut up.
Donât wake Marinette up donât please he doesnât know if sheâs the kind to get angry and OH SHIT.
The bed shifted as Marinette slowly pushed herself up, and she was either squinting at the pair for disrupting her sleep or struggling to open her eyes.
âQue?â She said, not particularly mad but definitely not awake enough yet for that to happen.
âItâs fine, Iâve got it,â he assured her.
ââKay,â she said and it took a second for him to fully understand the language switch but, hey, she was sinking back down into the bed so at least that was good.
What wasnât good was that Damian was still crying.
Tim sighed and shoved the pacifier in his brotherâs mouth and refused to let go until Damian had realized that crying was getting them nowhere. âGood baby,â he murmured absently as he bounced the kid in his arms.
Well, if Damian was up he might as well change his diaper now. Maybe then he wouldnât have to do it again.
He trudged to the bathroom and changed the diaper. It was less daunting now that it wasnât his first time. Or maybe he was just too tired to care.
Whatever. He quickly washed his hands and then carried the kid to bed.
Marinette had fallen back asleep again, pillow clutched to her chest.
He squinted over. Pillows were bad around babies. (So were blankets, but it was a hot night anyway so the blankets were long since discarded at the end of the bed.) That was what the internet had told him.
Then, an idea came to him. He carefully removed the pillow and set Damian between them.
It took approximately five seconds before Marinetteâs face screwed up with annoyance in her sleep and she started reaching around.
Damian made a quiet yelp as he was suddenly pulled to Marinetteâs chest and caged in her arms. He gave Tim a betrayed look that was way cuter than it should have been.
Tim could only laugh and take a picture of the two of them.
Then, he settled down in bed.
Damian was still squinting at him, making it hard to sleep.
He reached a hand out and started awkwardly petting the kidâs head. Was it probably bad to pet the kid like a dog? Yes, of course. But it was working so maybe notâŠ?
Damian fell back asleep quickly and Tim stopped his weird petting thing in favor of shifting around until he had managed to find a comfortable spot.
He cast one tired look back at Marinette and Damian. Damian was currently sucking on Marinetteâs pinky finger in his sleep and, apparently, she was too out of it to even notice.
Tim smiled a little and let sleep finally take him.
~
Marinette woke up slightly confused and very warm.
She blinked the sleep from her eyes and then fought the urge to jerk back in bed when she realized that she was hugging a person not her usual giant cat plush and that the weight settled around her was yet another person.
She struggled to make her brain catch upâŠ
Oh. Right. Robin had been turned into a baby and now she was taking care of him with Red Robin for the foreseeable future. They were pretending to be married and part of that was sharing a hotel bed because getting two beds might arouse suspicion.
⊠none of this explained why she was currently clinging to Damian. Or why Tim had thrown an arm over the two of them while they slept.
She could vaguely remember something happening in the middle of the night. Baby crying. Tim assuring her he had it handled⊠then what? She didnât know.
Not enough information.
She decided she didnât really care. Maybe sheâd care more when she woke up more. For now...
She nuzzled her face in Damianâs hair. Still tired. No one else was awake, so --.
Damian started crying.
Marinette groaned a little. Nope. According to the baby it was morning.
She felt the arm Tim had around her pull away as he flipped onto his back. He rubbed his eyes and then looked over at her.
âYour turn,â he mumbled.
âNoooooooo,â she whined even as she released Damian to sit up.
But then Damian crawled over to Tim and threw himself onto his stomach. Tim wheezed as the air was sapped from his lungs.
Marinette hid her amusement behind her hand as best she could, but she couldnât help but say: âYâknow, I think the kid might just disagree with you on that one.â
He removed one of the hands from his face to flip her off.
She snickered. âFuck you too. But, really, Iâll do it. Just give me a second to wake up a little.â
He buried his face into one of the pillows and didnât do anything more so she assumed that was him accepting it.
She gave herself one long sigh before she picked up Damian and started preparing him for the day.
~
Tim was pretty sure his arms were going to fall off. Why are babies so heavy? Theyâre so little. Where were they even putting all that weight? That should be illegal.
Well, they were going shopping, at least. They could get a stroller. In fact, if Tim had his way it would be the first thing they would do.
⊠obviously, he didnât.
Marinette dragged him to a jewelry store.
He raised his eyebrows as he leaned over the case of rings with her. âYou know we arenât actually getting married, right?â
She rolled her eyes. âYep. But Iâm pretty sure if I left you alone youâd buy me something from whatever this worldâs version of Claireâs is.â
Tim blushed a little. That kind of had been the intention.
She didnât seem to notice. âAlso, if Iâm married guys might leave me alone.â
âIt canât be that bad.â
âYouâd be surprised,â she said. She waved over a clerk and pointed to two simple silver bands. âJust these two, please.â
He waited for the clerk to leave before sending the woman in front of them an odd look.
âI thought youâd go for something more⊠more,â he said.
She shrugged. âWeâre on a budget.â
âOh.â
Then she flashed a grin and reached out to poke his nose. âBut once we get a stable income youâre totally getting me a nicer ring.â
He held his free hand up in mock surrender. âOkay, fine.â
Damian saw the slight freedom as an indication that it was time to pitch himself out of Timâs arms and Marinette yelped as she reached out to catch the child. Damian whined, which seemed to be the norm for preventing him from dying an early death.
She sighed and set the baby down on his feet with only her hand to keep him upright. âIâm going to let him walk around a little since he seems bored. You pay.â
âIâm paying either way.â
She stuck her tongue out at him before letting the baby lead her in aimless directions as Damian struggled to learn how to properly use his legs.
~
They had a stroller now. Damian was determinedly refusing to use it. He was hardly even letting them hold him now, throwing a fit whenever they tried to pick him up. Marinette made a mistake by letting him âwalkâ, apparently.
âDonât know what we expected,â Tim half-joked.
Marinette shrugged helplessly.
Damian walked between the two of them, using their hands as a kind of crutch to keep himself on his feet while he half-walked-half-stumbled around.
When they got to the end of an escalator the both of them lifted Damian so he wouldnât trip and, apparently, this became the kidâs favorite thing. He yelled âagainâ in Arabic and the two of them had smiled because it was kind of cute that Damian could find so much joy in something as simple as being carried by the hand for a few seconds.
⊠it got less cute over time.
Tim let go of the stroller for half a second to pinch the bridge of his nose as they lifted him for what must have been the millionth time that hour.
âOkay. Okay. We can split up. Do you want to do clothes or toys and books?â
âClothes. I need to get some stuff for myself and, honestly, I donât trust you to find cute outfits.â She glanced him up and down, fighting the way her lip tried to curl in disgust. Tim must have had someone to dress him back home because there was no way he had managed to get famous dressing like that. âSo, Iâll dress myself.â
He frowned. âWhatâs wrong with how I dress?â
She ignored him in favor of leaning down to speak to Damian. âDo you want to go get clothes?â
â... ma?â
Right. He spoke a different language.
She glanced up at Tim. âWhile youâre looking at parenting books, grab books on raising bilingual kids.â
âWerenât you raised in a bilingual household? Why not just use that?â He asked, frowning.
â... just because Iâm mixed doesnât mean I was taught both languages.â
He winced a little and nodded. âRight. Okay. Meet back up here in an hour or so?â
She laughed at him. âPlease. Iâll call you when Iâm done picking out clothes.â
â... you know I havenât forgotten that you totally dissed me, right?â
âCâmon, Dami, we gotta go!â She said brightly, picking up the kid despite his protests and speed walking away.

Nikah: September
Story Masterlist
Nikah: noun, Arabic, meaning the contract of marriage.
Bucky marries Peterâs former tutor because her student visaâs about to expire and the government isnât granting her a green card. Can she find a way to permanent residence by marriage, and if so, will it be at the cost of their hearts?
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Warnings:Â Mentions of death, pain, visiting a graveyard.Â
A/N: Written under the Arranged/Accidental Marriage trope for @mermaidxatxheartâ âs writing challenge. Iâm sorry for the one-day delay. This weekendâs second chapter - October - should be up tomorrow. Please comment and reblog! Thank you for reading!
Time heals many wounds. The scar left by the urge for revenge is not one of them, Bucky learns when he gets the call informing him of the capture of his wifeâs kidnapper. Heâs in an obscure corner of New York, deep into the maze of fabrics and colors, when Samâs voice - congratulatory and bone-tired - gives him the news. Bucky was excluded from the investigation due to personal connection to the victim, and placed on an obligatory sick leave after his⊠incident. The cliffâs edge his wife pulled him back from.Â
Yet he has managed to learn certain details. Such as the fact that there was no greater plot, no Hydra involvement, only a psychopathic monster out for blood and pain. The type of men there is no shortage of in this world of grue and terror. He does not want to subject her to any more of it, but she is too intelligent to allow him to take that choice from her. She does not consider this, them, him to be terrible or cruel.Â
Now, she turns to him from the silk sheâs examining after a minute too long of his mental absence. Cocks her head as she takes note of the phone in his hand, the conversation itself having passed her by amidst her other preoccupations and the lull of Bollywood music in the air.
âEverything okay? It can get kind of stuffy in here, so if you want to get some air-â
âIâm fine, doll,â He insists, letting the cloud of her perfume envelope him like her rare embraces.Â
âOkay,â She says dubiously. âLet me know if you want to go.â
Her concern is touching, but Bucky doesnât know if he should open his heart to it or blockade against it. Thankfully, she changes the subject.
âWhat do you think?â She asks, gesturing toward the selection of fabrics she seems to have shortlisted. Her cousinâs wedding is in December, which apparently requires preparation months prior, in the form of shopping for a new lehenga. Or the materials to have one made, rather. Bucky looks from the deep purple to the vivid mauve to the sea green and tries hard not to shrug.
âI bet theyâll all look gorgeous on you.â
âI only need one, Buck, and Iâm having trouble choosing between the green and mauve,â She says, pointing to the fabric she canât decide between.Â
âTheyâre both nice,â He says, but upon seeing her frown deepen, he adds: âThe green oneâs a jaw dropper.â She grins in agreement and seeks out a shopkeeper to cut the required length of cloth.
Samâs voice echoes in his mind as they exit the shop for the one next door. In this one, he takes in the piles of lace and borders and ornate brooches and buttons while the rage simmers below the surface. He can no longer tell if the flush in his cheeks is from the bridled anger or the warmth caused by his wifeâs presence. Her keen eyes are scanning a row of spectacular trimmings, and she sighs at the difficulty of the choice.
Craning her neck, she spots the one she wants but soon realizes she cannot reach. Bucky doesnât give her the time to ask for his assistance, reaching up over her to grab the reel of golden, glittering trim sheâs pointed out. The electricity that crackles when his front meets her back in the process is almost enough to forget the disapproving glares from the two middle-aged shop owners. Almost.
Their kind wrinkles have turned colder but she thaws them with a smile and the familiar, polite title of uncle. Another common term in the desi vernacular, log kya kahenge - what will people say? - replays in his brain like an audio cassette, the expression having been the subject of many a frustrated, late-night rant he has absorbed from his wife. There will surely be a rerun later today, unless he gives her the news of her attackers capture before she has the opportunity to launch her case against South Asian obsession with public reputation. By the time they leave, the elderly gentlemen are at ease while Bucky is not, staying three paces behind until theyâre out of sight.
â âM sorry, doll, I shouldnât have-â His sentence is cut off by her razor sharp glare as she halts on the sidewalk.
âDonât you dare apologize, Bucky Barnes. If I had a problem with you grazing against me while trying to help with something, Iâd have made it quite clear,â She declares, taking his hand and steering them towards the subway. Sunday shoppers mill about, enjoying the last of the summer sun before autumn takes its place. They carry bags of their own, but few match the ones Bucky is carrying. Queensâ Asian hub is bustling with activity, and he relishes in its awe until he smells the curry house a street down.
He tells her of his discovery in the entrance to the station, and her eyes light up like fireworks on Steveâs birthday - rest his soul - and they turn back for food. Buckyâs nose takes the lead, and six minutes and a wrong turn later, theyâre standing like moths to a flame, the scent of spices embedding itself into their nerves. She inhales joyously as theyâre taken to the last empty seats, against a wall covered in pictures of Pakistani and Indian monuments. Bucky doesnât comment on the political tensions he knows are present between the two nations, knowing that governments are rarely as representative of their peopleâs beliefs as they ought to be.
There isnât any music either, just the sound of commentary from the cricket match playing on several TV screens. Itâs a rerun of the previous yearâs World Cup final between England and New Zealand, and his wife looks sourly at it, knowing the results didnât go the way she wanted them to.Â
âIt all came down to luck in the end,â She comments, picking up the menu. Bucky quirks an eyebrow. âIt wasnât even a fair win. The umpire admitted to faulty judgement, and I donât blame him, but super overs are such a stressful, inconsistent way of completing the game. New Zealand worked so hard and it was all overturned by a stroke of luck. I feel bad for poor Kane Williamson,â She says, and Bucky puts down the menu as the waiter approaches. The conversation pauses as they place their orders - chicken karahi for him and chicken achari for her - before he says anything.
âSweetheart, if you think thatâs bad, imagine cheatinâ death three times over and getting home to learn that your teamâs now playing for the opposite coast. LA Dodgers. Pfft,â He says, shaking his head, and she laughs, corner of her eyes crinkling like silk as her laughter chimes. Itâs the only song he knows heâll never tire of hearing, the one that sounds as good as the day he first heard it.
The first time he makes her laugh is, like many other aspects of his life, hysterically ironic. Theyâre in a graveyard, dawn taking its rightful place on the horizon. A midnight and a half of walking caused by devilish, sleep-stealing nightmares, eventually led them to Steveâs grave. The ground is unthawing slowly, much like the icy shields they have put up against one another, and sheâs holding a bouquet of anemones from a miraculous florist.
She tries to give him the flowers but he shakes his head. His hands shake more violently from inside his jacket pocket and he tries to breathe, the night chill seeping into his skin. Hesitantly, she kneels down, brushes some dust off his tombstone, and places the vividly beautiful flowers in front of it. Rises, bones heavy with sympathy, and turns to him.
âIâm just glad he died in his own bed and not on the battlefield like he seemed so damn hell-bent on doinâ. Wouldnât have wanted that for him,â He muses to ease her tortured expression. Deliver a message of having moved on, having accepted this life without his best man. His best bud.
âHe would have been just as happy either way, going by what youâve told me,â She answers, peering sideways at him from under eyelashes that reflect the last of the moonlight. He gives a short, wistful laugh.
âYeah. You know what he told me once, still that skinny Brooklyn kid after another fight? He said heâd have fought him even if heâd have been ten times bigger instead of two.â She laughs, too, and although itâs a sad, sorrowful thing, overflowing with exhaustion and despair, Bucky hasnât heard anything as beautiful since the sound of Sam in his ear after the Blip.
âAnd he proved that with Thanos. Those bullies were just practice. I laughed at him anyway, but he had the bigger picture in mind that I never did.â
He still doesnât. Not even now, with his wifeâs hand in his, standing in the lobby to the apartment he owns. She tells him they havenât checked the mail since last Wednesday and they head over to the letter boxes instead. The reason for their marriage, the bigger picture she sees in her head, is pulled out in the form of an envelope from the United States Government. She opens it with shaking hands, and the green card is extracted, heart in throat. Bucky sees the disbelieving joy in her eyes, and thinks: his own is now over.
