Summary: After watching the interview and seeing how exhausted he was, you had to do something.

Pairing: Quinn Hughes x fem!reader

Warning: sad Quinn, Boobs, kinda long, lightly proofread, Grammar and punctuation mistakes.

Note: We all saw this interview, right? The one were Quinn says that they aren't worried about making him happy. Yeah, I was hysterically crying.

You rewatched that part repeatedly, feeling pieces of your heart break each time. His voice was raw, as if he had been crying before the interview. He tried to joke about people not worrying about making him happy, but you knew the truth, even if he tried to hide it.

Quinn always tried to reassure you that he’s fine and that you don’t have to worry about him, but how can you not worry? You knew you had to figure out how to lift his spirits.

After picking up dinner from Quinn’s favorite restaurant, you placed blankets onto the couch and pulled up Netflix on the TV. You threw on one of Quinn’s shirts and took off your sweatpants. You placed the food containers and utensils onto the coffee table.

You dimmed the lights, creating a calm and relaxing ambiance.

You sat on the couch watching a show when you heard the door unlock, making you turn off your show ready to smother the crap out of your boyfriend.

Quinn entered the apartment like a zombie. His tired eyes landed on you. “Hi, pup.” You smiled, walking towards him. Quinn gave you a small smile, wrapping his muscular arms around your waist, pulling you into a hug. “I missed you,” Quinn mumbled into the soft skin of your neck. Your fingers twirled the end of Quinn’s hair while your other hand rubbed his back.

You pulled away once you felt his shoulders relax. “Come on,” you softly take Quinn’s hand into yours.

Quinn was the first to enter the living room. “What’s the reason?” Quinn wondered, You tore off his navy blue suit jacket and threw it on the armchair. “Do I need a reason? Can’t I just do something for my amazing, hard-working, kind-hearted boyfriend? Who I’m very proud of,” You teased as you unbuttoned Quinn's Shirt, revealing his abs. Quinn gave a small smile. “Princess-”

You squint your glaring eyes at him; it was a mission of yours to show Quinn that relationships aren’t one-sided. “I think the words you’re looking for are thank you,” you whispered, throwing the shirt on top of his jacket. “Thank you, Princess,” Quinn chuckled.

Quinn stripped off his pants and shoes, leaving him in his plaid boxers. You gazed into your boyfriend's tired eyes, and another piece of your heart broke. You cupped his cheeks and placed a soft kiss on the tip of his nose.

After cleaning up the dinner, you straddled Quinn’s lap. “What do you want to do now?” Quinn wondered, his calloused hands snuck under your (his) shirt, and rested them on your hips. You looked up at the ceiling, pretending to think. “A movie?” “What movie?” “You pick.”

Quinn tilted his head, his eyebrows knitted together. “Princess,” Quinn mumbled, looking at you suspiciously. ”It can be an action movie or whatever you’re in the mood for.” You smiled, playing with the ends of his hair. Quinn knew what you were doing. It’s not unusual for you to care for him, but it usually happens when his team loses a game.

You pressed a soft, gentle kiss on Quinn’s forehead. You gazed into his eyes. “You know I love you, right? Like out of my mind, stupidly in love with you.” You stated, noticing Quinn blushing, “Yes, I love you with all my heart.” Quinn smiled.

“And I care about making you happy.”

That’s when it clicks for Quinn, you saw that interview were he said that no one is worried about making him happy. “Princess-” “Me first.”

Quinn gave you his undivided attention, as if there’s anything that would take his attention away from you.

“pup, I know that it seems like everything sucks right now and you feel so alone, but I’m here for you. You don’t have to carry this burden by yourself. I’m here for you…I’m here.”

It was as if something washed over inside Quinn; was it relief?

“I-It’s…” Quinn’s voice cracked, and you noticed his eyes began to gloss. You knew Quinn wasn’t really big on talking about his feelings, so if crying was his way to deal with this stress, then you’re more than happy to be his shoulder to cry on.

“I know…I know. Let it out,” You whispered, wrapping your arms around his neck and pulling him close. Quinn shoved his face into your chest. “I-I try so hard,” “I know. Let it out.”

You felt Quinn's breathing become shaky, and it shattered your heart altogether. Your pup was giving his everything to his team. He doesn’t deserve to be treated like a circus animal.

You sat there running your fingers through the ends of his hair, repeating “it’s okay, let it out” like it’s a mantra. You place gentle kisses on the crown of his head.

Once Quinn’s sobs turned into small sniffles, you pressed all of your love into a lingering kiss to his forehead.

You cradled his jaw and gently moved his head towards your eyes as if he were made of glass. Quinn’s eyes were red and puffy, snot running down his nose. You placed soft kisses on the tears streaked on both cheeks. “I want to remind you that I’m always going to be in your corner. If you decide you want to stay with the Canucks then I’ll be at your games cheering you on the loudest. Or if you decide to join your brothers or any other team, then we will pack up our stuff and go together. Or if you decide to quit hockey, then I will have your back, okay? I will always have your back.” You reminded gazing lovingly into his sad eyes, Quinn gave you a small nod, feeling his heart swell.

He always heard stories of couples saying the exact moment when they knew they were each other's forever person. This is when Quinn knew that you were his forever person. He always had a feeling, but this moment confirmed it.

Quinn reached up towards you and pressed a slow, gentle kiss to your lips, the kind that was so full of love.

You pulled away, “So how about that movie?” You smiled, and Quinn nodded. You were used to Quinn going nonverbal when he was upset. “Star Wars?” You suggested knowing that he loved those movies, especially Revenge of the Sith, Quinn nodded.

You noticed Quinn staring at your chest. “What is it, pup?” You asked your boyfriend, who began to tug on your (his) shirt, “Oh silly me.” You softly giggled, knowing what he wanted. You pulled off the shirt, exposing your breast, and tossed the shirt next to Quinn’s clothes.

You put on the movie, you lie down on the couch. Once you got comfortable, you opened your arms for Quinny to join you. Not needing to be told twice, he lay down on top of you, shoving his face into the valley of your breast. Quinn pulled up the blankets so you wouldn’t be cold. Quinn placed his chin on your sternum. “I love you so, so much, princess. You really do own my heart.” Quinn smiled, scattering small kisses across your chest.

You watched the movie while lightly scratching Quinn’s head. Quinn would be going back and forth, making sure both boobs know that he loves them so much. You gaze down at him, noticing his defeats and stress fading away.

lately, i've been rewatching some of the major tumblr fandom classics -- you know, sherlock, supernatural, merlin, doctor who, that era of live-action TV with a heavy fandom presence mostly centralized on tumblr. and here's the thing... i completely understand why modern tumblr fandom -- and, as an extension as the phenomenon of fandom itself broke containment and reached the mainstream, modern online fandom in general -- is so utterly hostile to reparative readings.

i mean, really, it makes perfect sense. these shows seem practically designed to provoke paranoid readings from their audiences. this style of television regularly contorted itself into pretzels not only to be audience-hostile, but to be hostile to the basic building blocks of storytelling itself. this probably sounds exaggerated, but i'm being stone-cold serious. supernatural's stalwart dedication to resetting the status quo at the end of every story arc, never letting there be genuine stakes because every change to the status quo, ultimately, does not change the show whatsoever on more than a surface aesthetic level. merlin's even more stalwart inability to change the status quo whatsoever, constantly driving home a story where narrative is teased but always forcibly contorted back into the exact same shape at the last minute. sherlock's commitment to unexpected "twists" at the expense of the audience being able to participate in the mystery story.

i mean... is it really paranoia if they're actually out to get you? these shows taught the people watching them that they shouldn't expect coherence, or consistency, or even baseline respect as an audience. these shows taught their viewers that the experience of watching television is to be caught in eternal, active conflict with the art itself, which hates you and hates the fact that you enjoy it, and is working at all times to thwart your attempts to garner meaning from it.

i think this is a terrible way to view art, and ultimately shoots yourself in the foot and prevents you from ever engaging with anything authentically and joyfully. interacting with art is like a good kink scene or a LARP; it requires a certain amount of audience buy-in and trust in order to make the interaction work. but i also can't blame people whose formative fandom experiences were sherlock and the MCU for not having that trust -- this is going out of the bounds of serialized television a bit, but i mean. the MCU's constant pattern of "a new director comes along, retcons and/or makes fun of every single development made in the last movie, transplants entirely new personalities onto the characters, and throws in a couple of random plot twists halfway through because the fandom already guessed what the next big arc would be about" isn't exactly encouraging the audience to trust the art or approach it with curiosity and buy-in.

Blush x physical touch

I had planned to make this post about Blush almost kissing in the 1992 movie, but! as I rewatched the timestamps I made a while ago, it appeared Mush and Blink aren't so much almost kissing as always touching. Pick any moment when the two of them are on screen together, and there is a 90% chance they'll be touching in some way. The reason I think Blush became popular as a ship is that the two of them actually do interact all throughout the movie, and they both seem to express affection through physical touch. Now you won't need to ship them as a couple to notice this physical touch, but if you do, you may notice than on many occasions, one of them is very obviously looking at the other's lips (and, most of the time, the one in question is Mush).

At the beginning of the movie, this touch is rather playful, often rather brief and, most importantly, it is initiated by the both of them. That's mostly the shenanigans during Carrying the Banner, where they're already established as a rather close pair.

Then, there's a very casual kind of physical contact, which we see in the whole movie : Kid Blink and Mush are not just standing next to each other, they are often touching in some way, leaning on each other... This is also due to the fact they don't have many lines in the movie aside from talking about the strike, so the most obvious way to show their close relationship is to show them together in the frame, more often than not standing very close to each other : the result being that, from the beginning, they seem to have a closer friendship than with many other newsies (that being said, when he's not with Blink, Mush is quite literally always touching someone. My boy is a hugger.)

This touch is shown as coming to them naturally, in a way that still makes them stand out as a pair even in the most crowded scenes : at the end of King of New York, Blink spends a solid minute with his hand on Mush's shoulder, and they are the only ones holding up one glass for the both of them (to be fair, it's mostly race's fault for not giving Blink a second glass ; however Mush doesn't seem to hesitate or even think before he offers to share his glass, which Blink accepts just as naturally).

Finally, physical touch is also a way to find comfort : in the scene after Once and for all, Blink comes and to stand closer to Mush and offers him some form of reassurance without talking ; what's interesting is that this is one of the rare times when Blink is initiating this kind of brief physical contact.

Though they are both very open about physical affection, there is nothing to suggest a romantic attraction between Blink and Mush ; however ever since I first timestamped the movie I thought this proximity was sometimes ambiguous, especially in those first five gifs where they both look at each other's lips at some point. My guess is that they were asked to take it down a notch after that first day, so that we could focus more on the Javey relationship development...

Bo-Katan Kryze is a remarkably strong woman for numerous reasons. She's faced an incredible amount of trauma and loss throughout her life, seen the planet she loved destroyed several times as her attempts at ruling her people came to devastating ends.

But I think, by far, the most impressive thing she's ever done is how she remained standing after Din Djarin said to her:

"What means more to me is honour. And loyalty. And character. These are the reasons I serve you, Lady Kryze... your song is not yet written, I will serve you until it is."

Then made a fist over his heart and thEN BOWED? Girl.... I would have collapsed on the spot. No amount of intergalactic smelling salts would have been able to revive me. Respect.

ok ok i have another way to word my thots about the movies thus far:

i think Art is pretty iconic design wise. Im not against gory slashers I think we should have more of those and I like that a series so "shocking" is doing so well...its more like.

The franchise establishes pretty immediately that it's not Serious...as mentioned the first movie has a naked woman sawed in half from crotch down so idk how you'd even make it to the 3rd one without knowing How It Is. But with how the first one barely has any plot, and the second one has A Bit More but drags on and on...its like... SO FAR (because I haven't seen the 3rd one) these movies aren't Fun to watch ykwim.

I know Saw isn't a good comparison bc its a different genre within horror but the franchise really is like a telenovela... its so stupid (good) and it has lots to complain about and pick at in the FUN way, like poking fun at peepaw and his warehouses and home depot purchases, going "are you kidding me thats so dumb" at that scene where hoffman manages to be snuck into the station in a body bag to start killing people. Varuous moments of stupid ass dialogue writing. Im not saying it cant be boring or unliked but i think it has a good balance of everything (eyerolling moments, plot, "lighthearted" and humorous moments, intentional or not) even if its not a masterpiece in the writing department.

And that's just within the series, I usually avoid bringing up fandom bc that's obviously a different beast I rarely even touch but its more about how its fandom actually has that foundation to go off of. Like you know enough about peepaw's backstory and such to springboard off of, regardless of it being good or not

Here it's like man there's a hot cool clown, lots of gore, really corny and cornily acted out writing, and its not even FUN? 😭 2 movies (again I haven't made it to the 3rd) and I wouldn't watch them again, not because of the gore but because despite not being serious, reinforced by that very drawn out over the top kill in the second one, it's not even fun... you cant even attach to the silly dialogue because the whole rest of the movie is a drag. Does this make sense? It's like. Everything combined to make it Not Fun. Whereas at least with Saw you can start joking about how someone just wasn't trying hard enough to win peepaw's foundationally silly ass "you tried to kill yourself now you're in the try not to kill yourself" trap.

It's at odds with itself. I've seen like one Halloween movie and can barely even remember it but I know all the jokes about outrunning Michael Myers (and that cat and mouse is also Fun)...theres also like 50 of those movies I KNOW theyre probably also fun to watch and complain about the absurdity... I think the issue here might also be the straightforwardness and point A point B of it all. There's not really much anyone can do against Art, which is fine, some saw traps are literally unwinnable after all. But Terrifier doesn't even give you the chance to, like, boast about how you definitely could have survived the Silence Circle trap because you're not an idiot... it's just not Fun. To me.

I think Art himself is fun and the corny dialogue are fun. I'll even go ahead and say the gore is fun because again like come on the clown literally rips a guys cock off its Absurd... but they seem to be trapped in movie(s) that so far aren't fun
