my final review of the movie is this is my no 1 fav conan movie of all time, 2nd place is bride of halloween. i still havent rank anything below that properly. im truly entertained by this movie it got so many characters i care about with a lot of bombastic scenes. as much as i want to say my ultimate fav is m7 and m21, both of them are kinda... slow with all the deduction talk. im here for eye candy after all 😔 mixing kid's energy is doing wonders for the tone of a heiji movie. heiji's presence is also doing wonders for KID as well cuz gosh!!! KID has never emit this much childlike moe blob energy. heiji and conan being the straight man to kid's prank is the dynamic really help to emphasize his whimsical energy

and the final theme i caught; parallelism where hijiri is willing to do anything to protect his father's legacy only for us to find that its all for naught.... now why does this sound familiar 🤔🤔🤔

Ria:

One of my favorite happiness-themed HC's for Ria is the first time she had fast food. Being sick and all, she wasn't allowed to eat all kinds of food, so when Scott took her out to McDonalds, it was a huge treat for her, and ended up having too much ice-cream that day. So, around the time when Maria was considering moving far away for college, Ria was worried about how it would effect their relationship and tried to stay calm, but her nerves took over and she had a full-bout panic attack. Since then, Maria would encourage her to be more open if she was worried about something.

Normally Ria is a calm person, but once she gets ticked off, she finds it very difficult to control her anger. One such incident was when Zoe called Maria a control freak and Ria lashes out and could have broken Zoe's nose if Maria wasn't there, squeezing her hand.

Ria's face was a mixture of shock and surprise before she ran over and hugged her, nearly knocking her off her feet. After the ceremony, Maria takes her to the cliffs for a private picnic to celebrate.

Always the same nightmare, as if his mind was punishing him for his waking actions. It was making Jack avoid sleeping, he couldn't bear how his subconscious got to him.

It started off on a hill by The Garden, up a path from where he used to live prior to moving to The Parade. Nothing had changed from how he remembered it in the 40s, it wasn't half as decrepit as The Garden was now. It was quiet, comfortably quiet. 

A leafless tree stood tall towards the top of the hill, the sun dancing through its branches. Jack would take a couple steps forward, from the side of the tree, to find a small girl reading in the grass with her back against the bark.

Jack's heart stung, immediately recognising her as his own daughter, dressed for school like she was the morning they took her. “Margaret,,” He'd breathe out her name, feeling tears begin to develop in his eyes.

Though, something was wrong. As Jack got closer, the little girl looked,, frightened. She dropped what she was reading and stood up, still with fear, and her own breathing picked up. 

“Ohh,” Jack started, “what's wrong, my dear?” He tilted his head, going to crouch to get down to her height as he used to. Margaret gently pushed herself from the tree, starting to back herself away.

She, suddenly, became a little courageous. “What do you want..?” She'd ask, not really sounding genuine. She sounded like she was only speaking to distract him, so she could dart off. She kept looking Jack up and down.

Placing his hands sternly on his hips, Jack spoke again. “Now, is that any way to speak to your f-” somewhere in the middle of the word, he looked down and noticed blood splattered against his blazer and waistcoat, “...ather? Oh,” 

Panicked, he desperately tried to brush the blood off of his clothes with his hands, but it wasn't going anywhere. “No. No, no, wait,”

Throughout this whole ordeal, Margaret hadn't gotten any further away. She just watched, like she was surprised or curious. “My father would never hurt anyone.” Her tone was odd. It sounded like she, herself, was confused, but it came out sarcastic. “And that's how I know you aren't him.”

“No,,” Jack continued to frantically brush at his clothes, and eventually took off the blood-stained blazer. His waistcoat was stained too, but, less. “No, I am, I wouldn't do that..” He softly cried, his crying sounding somewhere between a chuckle and a sob. He even sounded deranged, no wonder she didn't trust him.

Looking back up at Margaret, he watched as tiny drops of blood would appear to stain her pinafore, a little above her hip. His staring must have been noticeable, as she also looked down to see.

“Wasn't that your fault too, father?” She giggled, mocking Jack. The real Margaret wouldn't behave like this, he thought to himself. She would forgive him. She would know it wasn't his fault she got shot, he was only trying to protect her. He was only trying his best. He didn't want to lose her. 

And here, usually, the nightmare would end. Sometimes Jack would watch her be shot, sometimes he would be hurting her himself, but he woke up in a cold sweat every time. If only he could go without sleeping completely.

a sight beyond death: timeline differences & other notes

so i wrote a fic. its partially alins fault. because the timeline diverges with changes i feel are relevant but didnt write in full bc the fic itself starts up after many of them, i decided to compile them here for perusal, alongside some other background headcanons alin and i decided upon regarding L, B and wammys house. probably a very long post, i will update later as well if more comes up or i forgot something 👍

jan 1 2004 (just over a month after light got his death note), sayu goes to deliver a change of clothes for her father and encounters misora naomi at the station. hearing her intent on meeting with the kira task force, sayu strikes a conversation because of her father, and the two of them wait together while sayu waits for her father to call her back after she messages him.

naomi is able to get in touch with L after speaking with soichiro via sayus phone and joins the task force; she informs L of her suspicions regarding kira being able to kill with methods besides 'heart attacks'

due to naomis information, suspicion on light increases

jan 8 surveillance begins on the kitamura and yagami families. during this week, sayu gets into an argument with her mother sachiko regarding her grades and when sachiko compares her to light (unfavorably), sayu storms off. while light is at cram school she goes into his room and triggers the diary trap, setting the house on fire. the investigation has hiccups here because of the fire but it doesnt actually matter in detail rn cuz i am not writing it all

at some point in january, B escapes his prison. because he needed so much medical attention, L arranged for him to be in a long term care facility as he recovered from skin grafts and physical therapy, because after losing B wouldnt leave anyway (he fully intended to resign himself to this until he saw the kira news). when he recovered from his final surgery and was being arranged transport to an actual prison, he escaped :) yay!!

roger alerts watari and L of this happening and L decides not to worry about it. naomi is like dude. i think we should worry. i decided he doesnt tell her about B escaping

the yagami family begin living in a hotel as their house undergoes reconstruction after the fire, though they contemplate moving to another local residential area. kiras murders slow marginally, a pace unnoticed by most, as light is unable to write as often and with as much as privacy in the hotel

when he makes it into to-oh in april his family decides to let him live on campus for a semester because the house isnt ready yet. L thinks this is awesome because he can just wire the dorms. light has to keep taking a potato chip and eating it 🙄

april 25h the phrase shinigami is used by the 2nd kira in the videotapes, as is a reference to "eyes". Ls visceral reaction is because of B, which he informs only naomi of in private he doesnt say anything actually because he doesnt feel like it

june 8th, a week into confinement, light gives up his ownership of the death note

june 9th, L wakes up to B atop him, having broken into his room. due to the fact misa & light have forfeited their death notes, he can see both their names and times of death when L involves him in the investigation, so there is nothing noticeably off about them

theres like a full week of everyone being super disturbed by L and B before the yotsuba group starts killing people as "kira" other additional notes/headcanons: i decided Ls real name is not L Lawliet because that sounds stupid as hell im sorry. but i also decided no matter what even if i decide on a name i like, i wont ever reveal it in the story. only B will ever know and any time it gets spoken or thought by him (or by shinigami) its going to be redacted Bs grandfather is actually japanese. he has no idea if his grandmother is because he never met her/she died before he was born; he met his grandfather several times. this is why he repeatedly uses japanese aliases and why naomi didnt go huh? whys some white guy got a japanese name? however, one of Bs parents is welsh and he probably grew up in wales. why...? its funny. B and L actually had a lot of impact on each other and they sort of cannibalized one anothers identity and mannerisms in their childhood even though L wasnt always at the orphanage. after A died they both subconsciously picked up some of his habits as well, as if to keep him "alive" in them both (and in the identity of L) so like, basically B used to sit like a frog and L started doing that because B does it; B chews his fingers because L does it; they both hold things the way they do because A used to do that; they both started preferring strawberries over their old favorites because strawberries were As favorites....so on. "L" is, in a way, already an amalgamation of B, A, and L; L himself had little sense of self and identity as he was molded by wammy into a "genius detective", and B and A, who were not only the only two people in his age range he ever socialized with but also two people being conditioned to become backups of him as a person....well uh there was a lot going on. basically. ❤ so tldr B and L are essentially amalgamations of each other. and of A. yay. unrelated to B, L and A but when were talking about all this alin and i realized that mello would have been 2 years old during the fall of yugoslavia and his childhood was probably insane even before watari scooped him up for his genius orphan exploitation program. just thought that was ummmm Interesting <3

On the list of things that weren’t supposed to happen, Eret losing a life had to be up there near the top.

Foolish couldn’t protect them this time. He couldn’t do the thing he was best at and prevent someone he cared about from dying, and no matter what Puffy said, he couldn’t help thinking it was all his fault.

“There was nothing you could’ve done, Foolish. He’ll respawn soon, it’ll be okay.” Puffy stood above him on the steps leading down from his nether portal. She placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. They’d walked to the summer home in silence together.

“I know he’ll respawn.” Foolish sighed. “But what if something like this happens again? What if she loses all her lives? What do I—“

“We’ll make sure that doesn’t happen, Foolish. Losing a life or two isn’t as much of a permadeath sentence as you think.” Puffy moved her hand up to his cheek. “You’re only on two lives as well, y’know. Tommy lived for over a year only on one, before...” her eyes flicked down and to the side, then back up to meet her sons.

“Doesn’t make me any less scared.” Foolish tilted his head to lean into Puffys touch. “And it doesn’t make it hurt any less.”

“I know.” She leaned down to hug him, probably one of the few times she’d get to do that, and remembered when she felt exactly how he did. “I know.”

Foolish buried his face in his fathers shoulder and wrapped his arms tight around her. He took a deep, shuddering breath. They both let go far too soon.

“Dad, can you... can you go find Eret? Make sure they’re okay?” Foolish asked. “I would, but I- I dunno, I...”

“I understand. I’ll send you a message when I find him.”

“Thank you.”

Puffy gave him a sad smile and a kiss on the cheek, then turned to go back into the portal.

When Puffy was gone, Foolish sighed and started to walk slowly back to his temple.

He heard thunder in the distance.

His head was full of fog, unable to process what had happened. He could see it clearly as if it was happening right in front of him again, he knew Eret had died, but he couldn’t connect any of the loose threads together in his mind to make himself truly believe it.

Maybe it was something to do with how fleeting death could be in this world, maybe this was just how grief worked. He had never truly grieved before, he didn’t really know. There was Tommy, of course, but they weren’t close. That was the mourning of a friend of a friend that you spoke to only a few times. Weird that someone you knew had died, but it didn’t hurt.

Foolish made his way up his pyramid. He needed to be higher up, to look over everything. It was, oddly enough, grounding.

The thunder sounded closer now. Foolish barely noticed it.

He got to the top of the pyramid and sat down, eyes closed and just letting the warm wind wash over him. Electricity crackled through the air and sent a shiver down his spine. He opened his eyes and took in everything he could see; the tower Bad had built, the nether portal, his statues. I love the idea that she finally calls (or, in this case Sam calls) and Nelson, Page and Murdock are arguing over whose going to take this call. Obviously Matt wants to --she's disappeared without a word and is ignoring him. Foggy thinks it's a bad idea for Matt to answer because Foggy misses his friend and doesn't want Matt to fuck it up. But Karen answering --not because she wants to but because ITS HER DAMN PHONE LEAVE HER ALONE!

Only for it to be Sam saying "Hey btw she's with us. Tell Matt a kind fuck you from the Avengers." And Matt, with his super hearing, is just fuckin pouting.

I guess it is mostly lackluster when compared to the other books I mean.

I intend to getting around to rereading all of the books ltr but from what I remember Supernova felt like it failed to deliver a good ending (in my opinion) for what they had been building up to in the first and second books

Like, in both Renegades and Archenemies, we get to see through Nova and Adrian that both the Renegades and Anarchists are complex and having interesting reasons for what they do. It isn't as simple as "the anarchists are in the wrong and the heroes are in the right"

The anarchists were a sort of family to Nova, albeit not perfect but she had people that cared about her. Honey was like a mother figure to her and at the time, we thought Ace was a good uncle. Nova had a solid backstory and motivation and Ace Anarchy really did start the effort to gain rights for prodigies. (Which now that I'm thinking of it, it'd be kinda interesting if the next book(s) in the trilogy talked about that part of prodigy history, now that everyone is a prodigy)

It was when Adrian took the spotlight in other chapters that we saw the damage the anarchists did as well.

The renegades were far from flawless too. I thought there were some interesting parallels to how some of the renegades acted and police brutality when I was first reading the books. Some of them got away with murder! And the existence of Agent N and how the second book discussed the morality of it was very interesting!

The third book isn't AWFUL by any means, but only disappointing to me. Nova is caught and imprisoned and it is never brought up again how inhumane it was. How much it put Nova through. None of the prison characters come back which was a wasted opportunity and Nova easily forgives Adrian afterwards.

Though, I haven't read the book in its entirety for a minute so I could easily be forgetting some of the ways Nova's character reflected how being imprisoned affected her. Outside of feeling more confident around the renegades since, she's gotten away with being caught before and it isn't as scary anymore.

Winston's arc also felt very out of place to me. I'm still not sure what Marissa Meyer was trying to do with him. I guess he contributed to the book's quick decision to say "Renegades were right the whole time 👍" Cuz Agent N was beneficial for him. (again I don't remember specifics too much so I'll probably talk abt this in another post ltr when I've refreshed my memory lol) I've come around to agreeing with a lot of ppl in wishing Winston had survived. I don't think it was a good decision to kill him off when it would have been much more interesting if he had survived. He would have gotten his powers back and that would challenge if he could stay "good"

It also would have been nice to see Nova keep ONE anarchist friend (given we don't know if Leroy is gonna be staying with her post supernova)

Speaking of Agent N, conclusion to that seemed to negate the sacrifices other characters made during the battle. Quite a few characters lost their powers during the fight and for them to get it back made the fight pointless. A lot in the ending made the build up the trilogy had feel pointless honestly.

I've mentioned a lot about how the take away felt like they were saying "renegades have always been right, boo anarchists" and that is because the Renegades really don't face that many consequences by the end.

I don't think Frostbite's group faced repercussions outside of briefly losing their powers, Adrian's dads (mainly Hugh) are pretty much excused of fault for Nova's parents deaths bc PLOT TWIST it was her UNCLE and they Actually really DID try to protect them!, which I wish wasn't the plot twist since if Evie was found and cared for by the Renegades I think that could have nudged Nova to believing in them more, the prison system isn't abolished, I don't believe much lip service is given to the fact the Renegades had so much power that they could take away people's POWERS, etc. A Ten Year Old had to clean up the mess they made (granted "they" is both the anarchists and renegades).

I think the book tried to be balanced with the introduction of the Rejects, but if we're honest, they didn't really do much. They mostly just melded into the renegades.

But I do hope that future books amend this. Marissa could take the direction that Maggie hints at in the epilogue that things AREN'T perfect now. It's really the only perspective that points out anything is flawed. In future books the areas in the system that are still flawed can be tackled and resolved, and give more time to show the Rejects affects on the system. And I highly bet it will go this way cuz if Cinder's Adventure is any hint at the future

Then it will be addressed.

Outside of the ending, there were some things I think were handled poorly. Like how Honey begins to act worse in this book. I don't think Marissa Meyer did enough to show Honey can both be like a mother figure to Nova and simultaneously be ready to stab her in the back. Pun not intended. I think there could have been better build up if her betrayal had to happen.

But one of the aspects I think could be interesting if intentional is Nova losing pretty much all her family in the renegades. It would have been nice to let Nova have some of her family after the fact, but since she didn't there is plenty to think about with how it affects her mental state. By the end, she's lost so many people in her life, she's weak and injured, and the only people she can turn to is the Renegades. Who else is there?? Leroy maybe but the anarchists were struggling before and didn't have their secrets so openly known.

It is a good thing that she has trust worthy people to depend on in the renegades, like team sketch and Adrian, but it is a very sudden change.

Again, I may change my mind on some of this later cuz I will be rereading stuff eventually, but here are my cents on the books flaws rn. And I DO have a lot of hope in marissa meyer going the direction that could forgive the mistakes the third book made. And maybe Marissa Meyer can do something in the next books to make Winston's death mean something who knows

If Maggie's gonna be the protagonist plsplsplsplspls then the renegades are DEFINITELY gonna have a hard time getting out of this one without fault. We need Hugh's perspective on that night and it looks like he'll be hardpressed for why he didn't notice Maggie was alive the whole time. Hopefullyyy that'll invite back more criticism of the renegades that isn't easily fixable

Supernova was lackluster in SOOO many ways and I could have JUST gone the route of "This was bad and THIS is what they should have done to make it good" which obv I still do.

But I also have been trying to make the best out of what we got y'know. Like, I don't LIKE that Maggie and Nova didn't get a resolution BUT I have found a lot of fun in imagining Maggie's life after Supernova and what the epilogue set up. Granted now that we got confirmation we'll be getting more books, those headcanons are likely to be squashed but they are fun to play around with still

And I don't think I ever did that with miraculous ladybug. I think I saw a WHOLE LOT of salt for it in 2020 and didn't realize I could and SHOULD HAVE blocked the ml salt tag cuz ml partially got ruined for me when I COULD HAVE gotten to see the positives in even the crappy stuff we got and make the best out of it

Regarding Civil War:

Not only did he want the accords to absolve himself of repsonsibilty while continuing to do his iron man shtick without the burden of consequence

...he also wanted them because Pepper left him over his obsession with being Iron Man. He says so himself: “Cause the truth is I don't wanna stop. I don't wanna lose her. I thought maybe the Accords can split the difference.”

He also pseudo blames Pepper for the whole thing because “Mom made it work.” Yes, your mom stayed with your abusive father.....and you are comparing your ex gf to her??? 👍👍👍👍👍

There isn’t an iota of possibility that Tony doesn’t have an entire team of lawyers and he either opted not to show them the accords, or he did and promptly ignored everything they said.

Because there’s no way they saw the raft and the complete disregard for human rights and didn’t do everything they could to keep him from signing.

Also they would’ve brought up those issues, and since tony was completely unaware of them, I deduce that he never showed them the documents.

So why wouldn’t he? Is he so arrogant that he thinks an agreement that big doesn’t warrant a second look? Or does he keep it hidden because he doesn’t want to be given a reason not to sign?

And how long did he know about the accords anyway? He’s advocating for it, so you’d hope he had some time to consider the consequences. But then, his knowledge about it is woefully inadequate.

So did he have it for a longer period of time, do nothing to educate himself, hide it from the team, and then spring it on them?

Or did he know about it for just a bit longer than the rest of them and still give it his full backing and support.

Either way, Tony is willing to risk the lives and freedom of the team in something he knows NOTHING about because

....he rightly doesn’t trust himself to make the right call, but refuses to stop actually being Iron Man, and because he wants Pepper back.

Because he doesn’t actually care about the consequences. He cares about blame, or rather, cares about being blameless. He feels guilty, but this is his magic button to keep on keeping on while waving his arms at a government body and saying “ITS THEIR FAULT! I HAVE NO AGENCY! THEY MADE ME DO IT!!”

So it’s extra hilarious that Tony had zero sympathy for someone who LITERALLY had no agency

OH and he uses Bucky’s future as a bargaining chip to try to get Steve to sign the accords: “We can make the last 24 hours legit. Barnes gets transferred to an American psych center instead of a Wakandan prison.”

In general:

He kidnaps and manipulates a 15 year old boy.

He makes rape jokes.

Despite having more access than anyone to services that could help with his PTSD, he refuses to use his privilege to do so, even after hurting Pepper in his sleep. (And then stans continue to use his PTSD as defence of any mistake he makes.)

He calls Wanda a WMD despite making WMD’s and like....wearing one.

He’s a jerk to literally everyone and mocks them constantly.

Can I ask why you dislike tony stark? I don’t remember civil war very well but I remember him having some compelling points.

ok first of all sorry it took me so long to reply, I just moved back into college today & it’s been a lot!!

ok so I guess my feelings on tony is I’ve never been a fan of him, he’s just not a character I ever liked. even tho civil war added to my dislike for him, it’s never been a steve vs tony kind of thing for me (even tho i LOVE steve and would fight for him any day) I’m just not a big fan of his personality or his actions in mcu.

I didn’t like the iron man movies (I only saw them once a long time ago so I don’t know the plots too well), but what it kind of jeeved me out that he profited from war for so long and even tho everyone makes mistakes and aren’t always informed, it baffles me that he didn’t look closer into where the money was coming from and the destruction his weapons caused earlier.

as for civil war, oh boy. while I can see how some of his points, at least on surface level, make sense I don’t think he handled the situation properly.

While I agree that there should be accountability, tony only decided that something had to be done because he felt guilty. So essentially bc he felt bad everyone had to feel bad. He never truly takes accountability for his own actions.

Also working with Ross???? What the fuck???? If he wanted to do something legitimately good, and have the other avengers eventually come to his side, why work w a sleazeball like Ross
