Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress: An Opinion
So. This anime. Lots of opinions on it. From those that know it exists at least. I have my own that I'd like to share.
I don't remember how I found it. Feel like maybe my brother told me about it but I'm not certain. All I know is how it made me feel. And it was AMAZING.
Now normally I don't like zombie things. I get grossed out easily and scared easily and zombies tend to be too much for me. This was the first time I found zombies palatable and honestly actually kinda cool. It shocked me, but more than anything I found the world and the characters it was building up were the things that drew me in most and kept me hooked the whole way.
To this day it's one of my favorite shows ever. Probably my favorite anime. I know a lot of people don't see it that way. So it got me wondering; why? Why don't people like it like I do?
So here's what I decided to do; I'm going to go through and rewatch the entire series of Kabaneri, probably the movie too, and write down everything I think about it as I'm watching it. (In sub, because that's how I originally watched it and it's made it so I can't stand their dub voices, too used to the subbed ones. XD Wanted to let you guys know just in case it matters.)
Hopefully this will be an enlightening experience for all of us. I might finally understand why people don't like it much and maybe whoever reads them will find a new appreciation for a show I adore.
The tag I'll be using for this so everyone can find it is #kabaneri an opinion
I hope that despite any differences in opinions we might have, we'll all have fun doing this. ^.^

OP I AM BACK AND I HAVE WORDS!!!
Roz and Fink's relationship is honestly one of my favourites in the entire movie? Like the very first day, Fink waited until Roz shut off before slowly walking to snuggle her, all because he was so lonely and wanted her company! And the next time we see them? We watch him silently judge Roz and Fink for their neurodivergent weirdness (I love their relationship too btw they were copying him!!!), he just gives Roz more things to mimic, making a fun game out of it! I love that we skipped whatever slowly warm up period they definetly had, and showed how they became rocks in each other's lives! I was reading an article about moments in the movie (look I saw it on opening weekend and I needed a more spoiler review of it that YouTube reviewers were (fairly) not giving yet) and the person pointed out that when Roz asked what to do if the person you love isn't around to see it, HE DEFLATES!! HE WANTED HER TO SAY IT BECAUSE HE CLEARLY DOESN'T WANT/DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO, THE ONLY TIME HE GETS THE COURAGE TO ASK HER TO STAY IS AT THE END IN FRONT OF EVERYONE AS A MINI CONCLUSION TO HIS ARC, HE COULDN'T SAY IT TO HER PRIVATELY BUT HE WANTS HER TO STAY SO MUCH HE'LL SAY IT IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE FOREST!!
AND ROZ! SHE SEES RIGHT THROUGH HIM, LEARNS HOW HE LIES, AND BECOMES BETTER! SHE BECOMES A FAMILY WITH HIM AND BRIGHTBILL AND I LOVE ALL THEIR TALKS DISCUSSING BRIGHTBILL!
I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!
Thank you for coming to my TedTalk XD, in all seriousness your posts had amazing points.
YOU REALLY COOKED WITH THIS. I’m such a huge fan of them. Enemies to people who raised a kid together. They saved 2024 im afraid

Summer 2024 Anime Review
I am so late with this, because I was on holiday, but I still wanted to do it ^_^
Shoshimin How to become ordinary: 10/10
It should be boring, but it’s so good and so interesting! They’re just making hot cocoa and I’m on the edge of my seat. And it’s so well made, I loved the use of the backgrounds. Definitely my highlight this season.
Failure Frame: 9/10
I’ve been looking forward to this every week. Yes, it’s a generic isekai power fantasy, and you can guess the “plot twist” from the start, but I was entertained every week, and that’s the most important thing for me. I liked all the characters in Touka’s group and I like that it didn’t turn into a harem anime. I know people complained about the cgi use, but I didn’t really mind (except for the horse’s legs, wtf was that XD)
Narenare cheer for you: 8/10
I love the girls (especially Anna-cha <3), I love the story, and I love how it looked, especially the two-coloured hair. It’s a beautiful story about friendship and overcoming problems and asking for help when you need it.
Dahlia in Bloom: 7/10
It’s sweet, it’s cosy, it’s lovely. There isn’t really that much to be said, it was just relaxing and nice too watch. Really didn’t need the isekai element though, but you could easily forget about it, they didn’t even bring it up for most of the episodes.
Dungeon People: 7/10
It’s funny and cute, I love the look into how a dungeon might work. I felt the last episodes were lacking though. They kind of just forgot that Clay was looking for her dad? We didn’t even get a hint about him. Still a very fun watch though, surprisingly brutal at times, especially contrasted with the cute art style.
Why does nobody remember me in this world: 6/10
It had good parts and bad parts. I really like the premise, but it seemed like they forgot about it in some episodes, then executed it well in others. Also, why was Rinne super powerful one moment and then totally helpless the next? Whatever suited the plot of course, but inconsistent characters are just the worst. I really liked the opening song though.
Twilight out of Focus: Dropped after ep 7
I was existed about a new BL, but I had already read the manga and was wondering how they would put that little story into 12 episodes. Turns out they focus on a new couple every 3 episodes, and I just didn’t really care about that. Might still finish this though, it’s well made, especially considering the characters are film-makers themselves.
Days with my stepsister: Dropped after ep 7
I don’t know what I expected, but I liked when they said that just because they are stepsiblings now, they don’t need to be friends and can just ignore each other. And then they spectacularly failed at that. I really didn’t like when Ayase started working at Asamura’s workplace too, that just seemed weird and stalkerish to me, and that’s when I dropped it.
Alya sometimes hides her feelings in Russian: Dropped after ep 5
I mainly started this to hear the Russian (miles better than their English XD), but I couldn’t stand Alya. “Oh, I’m actually really nice and sweet and shy, but I can’t show it, so I’m mean and awful to everyone” - well, newsflash, if you act like an arsehole, you are one. When she slapped Masachika, it was over for me. I really liked Yuki though, she was so funny, and I know they wouldn’t go there, but in my mind, she ends up with Masachika, haha.
My deer friend Nokotan: Dropped during ep 1
I couldn’t even get through the first episode. It was just weird, and not in a good way. You know when you know where the jokes are supposed to be, but you just don’t find them funny? That’s what I had here.

Okay today I'm giving my honest opinion about Earth Spark season 2 part 1 :D and I still think it's shit :DDD
Before anything, there are gonna be spoilers, so please don't read it if you want to have opinion on your own or just have fun of watching :D
You may ask then, "why tf are you watching it then you stupid hoe", oh silly because I like make my opinion on something, and how could I shit about it if I didn't watch it???
And I will not repeat myself here about things I already complain about it, like graphics (but sometimes I had a feeling like I was watching cutscene from the fucking game on nintendo XDD), texture, this fucking stupid bitch hashtag, etc. but yk have it in mind
But to not being rude I will say something nice first! I like sometimes jokes, like I cringed while them much much more less than last season which is good thing, because few of them were somehow decent like this one with Breakdown and Aftermath which was really lovely to me XD (still hate those bitches as a characters but ykkkk)
Tumblr media
Or when Splitfire is calling Megatron, Optimus and Elita old farts, she is fine when she is just sassy
Also as always Jawbreaker was cute, but's just Jawbreaker uwu
Tumblr media
Okay it's time to go back on judging this shit >:D
So writing, I think it's kinda random sometimes, and I still don't feel like what are they actually say nobody irl would do. Like they are making so much corny text about how they love each other and always saying something about family, and I'm like bruh, I never EVER heard any siblings even the most loving one say such a things.
I also think Robby became the most useless character there rn, like he didn't nothing important, and don't even let me start talking about episode fucking 8 because it's cringefest, and I needed to stop it every few seconds to take deep breath and continue
And why this stupid hoe Hashtag is managing his dating up, as we know he has complected relation with Elita which means they divorced, but never told anyone besides the closest ppl to them, stop her from doing that PLEASE, he is barely using internet
And I think everyone got stupider, because nobody expected that he will kill Aftermath and Splitfire for crystals and like Twitch didn't expected that chaos terran will fucking be a problem, when they literally call CHAOS TERRANS
But the most got it Soundwave and Shockwave pretty much, because they should be intimidating, and they are just fucking stupid to me
Besides how they build and found resources for such a high advance base and HOW American government didn't make a war with cybertronians after destroying G.H.O.S.T. there is no fucking logic to it.
Besides i feel quite lack of characters, because Nightshade was just background character, Shlouder didn't even talk with was just XD, Megatron was almost not there neither Elita, neither Grimlock, like I'm happy that Wheeljack became bigger part of this fr, but yyyeeeee
And Cosmo, like he was just for a little moment, where everyone had their dedicated episodes :CC
Tumblr media
And the most is hard for me is lack of Twitch and Megatron relation, besides of this one moment
Tumblr media
Because I'm like watching this show and torturing myself, mostly for them and I hope until the season 2 end we will get it more, because after they cancelled it, we will not get any more ep.
And to stop my bickering, over all for me this one small part had more good things than whole first season, but has lack of things that I'm watching this show for and Hashatag. . . this stupid-
I gave first season 3/10, so I thing fair would be gave it too 3/10, because of what I have said
(IT'S MY HONEST OPINION NOT THE ACTUAL PROFESIONAL REVIEW)
Besides about the show cancellation, I think Hasbro doesn't know what is doing like rn they CANCELLED also transformers reactivate, and I hope it's just weird as rebrand not deleting almost finished game 🤡🤡🤡
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because it's looking like they are cancelling whole transformers franchise to me, and Ik they are rumors of making new cartoon and new things, but then what? They will cancel it again, again and again?
So In my opinion, if new transformers movie won't be a massive success, I'm not seeing bright future for transformers.

To Feel Normal Again
Andy Dufresne (The Shawshank Redemption)
We sat and drank with the sun on our shoulders and felt like free men. Hell, we could have been tarring the roof of one of our own houses. We were the lords of all creation. As for Andy - he spent that break hunkered in the shade, a strange little smile on his face, watching us drink his beer. You could argue he'd done it to curry favor with the guards. Or, maybe make a few friends among us cons. Me, I think he did it just to feel normal again, if only for a short while. The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
I drew Andy again for another book review, even when it had nothing to do with Shawshank Redemption XD Because I just like him that much and I hated everyone in the book I was reviewing. It was Apt Pupil btw.
You can come and watch draw this piece in the video. Even if you've never read it or don't like it, you can join me and enjoy how absolutely done with everyone I am 😂

Yatatoulle AU: Yata gets cursed to becoming a rat and couldn't return to his family in this form. He's forced to live in the streets and gets taken in by a group of rats who eats mostly garbage though their leaders have realized the best kinds are at this restaurant. That's how Yata found himself at Scepter4 restaurant where he and the Homrats steal garbage while avoiding being caught by the ones working there.
It was pretty busy one night and the newest member, Fushimi, who only applied to work on the tech stuff is asked to help in cooking. He doesn't know how and Yata helps him. They become friends but they have to keep this a secret: Yata cause he doesn't want the other rats to think badly of him and Fushimi is just worried everyone would think he's crazy and he might lose his rat friend (Niki finds out where his little monkey is working at and wants to torment his son by trying to capture Yata).
And uh, just like in Beauty and the Beast, Fushimi falls for the beast: in this case it's a tiny rat who can cook.
Fushimi falling in love with a rat is a new one on me XD Say Strains still exist in this AU and Yata gets attacked by one on his way home day, turning him into a rat. Poor Yata absolutely freaks out and tries to run home, but when his mom sees him she tries to chase him out with a broom. Yata’s all miserable because what if he’s a rat forever and he can’t go home or anything, he’s all alone. He can’t communicate with humans but he can talk to fellow rats, which is how he ends up getting taken in by this little family of rats, led by this huge imposing red rat named Mikoto. The rats mostly eat garbage which Yata expects will be gross (especially because Totsuka-rat keeps trying to ‘experiment with new recipes’), but it’s actually pretty good. It turns out that the rats always steal from this one restaurant, Mikoto really hates the four-eyed guy who runs the place and figures at least they can get all the tasty garbage they want at this place.
Yata starts going along with the other rats to steal garbage and he’s warned never to go inside the restaurant because it’s dangerous and there are traps everywhere. One day though the restaurant is really busy and Yata finds himself watching everyone inside, feeling this pang of nostalgia that he can’t go into restaurants or be with people anymore. He leans on the window and the screen falls in, causing Yata to tumble into the kitchen. As it happens S4 restaurant is super busy that day and on top of this they’ve had a lot of call outs due to an illness going around, and therefore Fushimi, the tech guy, has been called to work in the kitchen (it was that or waiter, and his hatred of people overrides his hatred of vegetables). The problem is Fushimi has no idea how to cook and he’s just staring at the recipe book he’s been given all annoyed, like how is anyone supposed to read this. He starts making food but he keeps removing all the veggies and spices, Yata is scandalized and yelling at him like you’re making everything unhealthy stop it.
Yata decides to fix this himself and is caught adding pineapple to the food by Fushimi, who is grossed out that a rat touched their food (also imagine he throws knives at Yata until Yata ends up caught underneath a colander or something). The food is taken out while Fushimi is distracted and it comes back with rave reviews, everyone is so impressed because they didn’t know Fushimi could cook. Fushimi bluffs his way through it and then takes Yata back home with him, trying to figure out if this was some elaborate trick by ‘that guy.’ Fushimi’s having CalorieMate and coffee for dinner and Yata can’t take it, as soon as Fushimi opens the little cage he’s in Yata runs to the kitchen and starts making proper food. Fushimi can’t believe he found this weird hyper intelligent rat and all it wants to do is feed him healthy food.
The two of them start becoming friends though, Yata helps Fushimi in the kitchen and Fushimi lets Yata have free run of his apartment and sometimes talks to him, muttering about how stupid is he that he’s talking to a rat. Yata thinks Fushimi is kind of amazing though, maybe Fushimi even like has Yata use his computer because Yata still knows how to read like a human and Yata’s able to type out what happened to him. Fushimi agrees to help find the guy who changed Yata into a rat but he’s also torn because what if Yata leaves once he’s back to normal.
Eventually the Homrats come to ‘save’ Yata and take him away, while Yata tries to explain that Fushimi’s not a bad guy. Fushimi sees Yata leaving with them and assumes Yata’s abandoning him, not realizing that Yata’s trying to explain things. Right after Fushimi leaves is when Niki suddenly swoops in and catches Yata in a net. Niki’s been trying to track Fushimi down since Fushimi ran away and he’s managed to catch Fushimi’s little friend now. Niki catches the other Homrats too and only Mikoto escapes, Mikoto has to go find Fushimi to get him to save them all. Fushimi though thinks Yata chose to leave him to go back with the other rats and refuses to go along to help him, which is when Mikoto shows up and just starts biting Fushimi’s leg until Fushimi agrees to follow him. At this point Fushimi’s boss Munakata shows up, wondering what vermin got into his kitchen as he and Mikoto exchange glares. Fushimi doesn’t want to explain but Munakata just nods and tells Fushimi he’s free to take the afternoon off, Fushimi can’t believe his boss gave him a free day to go save his rat boyfriend but it seems he doesn’t have much of a choice (and ultimately true love is what reverses the rat curse and Yata turns back to normal after Fushimi offers to go back with Niki in exchange for Yata’s freedom, the now-human Yata works with the Homra rats to kick Niki’s ass and then they all go back to the restaurant for dinner).

2023 Movie Ranking
Note: Completely forgot this was in my drafts lol.
Again, highly subjective. Part of me wants to go back to posting in depth movie reviews lol. With, like, proper criticism and everything. Completely forgot this was in my drafts lol.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: Has the most effort put into it out of the other movies I’ve seen this year. I’m not a fan of every single Spider-Person, but I love, love all the animation styles. Also, back in 2020, I totally called the fact that Miguel is a stud. Totally called it.
Saw X: John and Amanda as villain protagonists? Yess. This franchise’s industrial horror vibe is unparalleled, as usual.
Barbie: Great litmus test.
Scream VI: To no one’s surprise. *currently wearing a Ghostface tee*
Totally Killer
The Last Voyage of the Demeter: Seriously underrated. It contains some of the most heart-staking death scenes in any Dracula media I’ve seen.
Thanksgiving: It’s about time! The trailer came out in 2007. XD
A Haunting in Venice
The Conference: I’ve been meaning to get back into Nordic noir, but this is the first Nordic slasher I’ve seen.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie: Pretty much the only time I played video games growing up was at the dentist office. So I always felt much less knowledgeable than, well, everyone on Mario. We can all agree Jack Black as Bowser was exquisite though, right?
Consecration: While I think religious horror should try something besides Catholicism, it’s worth a watch.
Five Nights at Freddy’s
Renfield: Fun horror comedy. Hopefully got at least some people to realize they’re in codependent relationships and seek help.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: So I’m not generally big on the MCU. GOTG however has the kind of ragtag bunch of misfits I like watching. Maybe not over and over again, however. The third installment was okay.
Evil Dead Rise: I liked Evil Dead 2013 better than the original because of its rancid vibes. Rise also pretty much feels grungy, if you’re into that.
The Boogeyman: Night Shift may have been one of the first King collections I read. (Just After Sunset was the second book I read by him.) The short story was great. The title monster’s reveal at the end? Not in the film. :(
Insidious: The Red Door: So I watched this without knowing they’d made a fourth Insidious. So I couldn’t compare it to The Last Key. Anyway, it had some odd scenes revolving around Nick. To the point where I wondered if someone in production just wanted to see frat boys in diapers.
Knock at the Cabin: First horror movie of 2023 I watched. Figured it would not be the best and it wasn’t. I’m not sure if reading the book would have made a difference. I just didn’t care for the plot.

Hey, have you watched the anime "senki zesshou symphogear"?
It's a very great magical girl anime and if you haven't watched it yet you definitely should! I think you would like it.
...This has got to be a trick. ^^; You already know, don't you?? I can't remember talking about anything remotely similar to Symphogear lately...I mean, unless you just really like the anime and want to recommend it to everyone, in which case 🆗
Anyway, short answer: Yes, I have. ^^
Long answer: I used to be a Symphogear SUPERFAN. I watched all 5 seasons of the anime and the OVAs, I read the S1 companion manga (and did some panel recolors~); I archived the whole S1 soundtrack, I memorized all the girls' activation songs, and I was an active contributor and later a translator on the FANDOM wiki. If the new people haven't completely rewritten everything, you can probably still find a few of my articles there. I focused mainly on episode summaries and the introductory blurbs for the XD Unlimited mobile game events. I'm pretty sure my song translations have all been edited out, unfortunately...=_=
Anyway, I also used to review the series as it aired on my DeviantArt account. ^^ It was a big part of my life for a while there, and I still keep tabs on it occasionally...nothing's really been happening lately, though. Even the mobile game is shut down at this point...I really hope all their recent attempts to keep the hype alive are actually leading up to something, because if not...I mean, either do something new with the series or just let it die gracefully, y'know?
Like, instead of getting normal promotional things-- merch drops, pop-up cafes, sponsorship collabs-- we're getting DJ shows and chiptune remixes (that weren't even that good...) with pretend videogame visuals...it's making me suspicious. If we're gonna do this, the 'cinematic production' they're talking about better be good. I don't want 90 minutes of 'grown-up Hibiki with long hair reminisces about her earlier missions (so we can fill the runtime with flashbacks)'...because if they do that and it flops, they're not gonna recoup the money they're spending on these...things, and then the series really WILL die. Sadly and un-gracefully...
...It probably shows that I have a complex relationship with the franchise. ^^; I have seen Symphogear at its best and its worst; I have loved it at times and I have hated it at times. I agree that it's a high-quality anime...unfortunately, I think a large part of the reason that I kinda fell off it is because its final few episodes were some of the most disappointing. I loved Season 5, but they really didn't have any creative ideas for the actual end of the series and by golly it showed. ^^;;; Left a bad taste in my mouth that remains to this day.
Because of that, if I ever do talk about it again-- maybe after that 'cinematic production' finally releases-- it's gonna be with a critical lens. Symphogear deserves its flowers for its consistently beautiful animation, A+ character design and action-packed story...but it also has a lot of problems that I've never seen anyone mention. Like its bad habit of "redeeming" villains with deathbed gestures...or its occasionally sloppy handling of trauma (*cough* tomato metaphor *cough*) that honestly got progressively sloppier over the course of the series. How do you start with Tsubasa's and Chris's incredible character arcs and end with Maria thanking her mother for abusing her...? o_O
Also, and this is a big one: there's a lot of fanservice, some of it honestly NSFW, and a some of it actively detrimental to the story. I don't mind bath scenes and pool scenes during the casual moments of the story, but I do mind gratuitous boob jiggles during the hyper-serious final boss fight. T_T Pick a tone, please. To Symphogear's credit, it handles its fanservice with a rare level of maturity-- now that I think about it, there's a lot of nudity in the series too, but they tend to do it so tastefully I never thought to point it out. But that means when it DOES start doing more immature stuff I can't really forgive it...like, come on; you're better than this.
^I say all of that because if any of you read this ask and want to check out the anime that changed my brain chemistry, you deserve to know beforehand. I really hate how when people talk about anime they only ever say "its good, it's really good!" without addressing anything that happens in it that might be uncomfortable or triggering (Symphogear is included there, just FYI: most of the abuse the characters have suffered is offscreen (like Chris being sex trafficked as a child) but it does get brought up, and you will see a bit of it occasionally). It's gotten to the point where I simply don't trust people when they recommend anime anymore; even if it's something as simple as having really excessive fanservice (for example: Mai-Hime. Great premise, fun characters, interesting story. Not watching it again, tho) I know they're not going to mention it. They never do.
As anime slowly becomes more mainstream, though, I'm hoping that culture is going to change. Action anime in particular routinely handles heavy, sensitive topics with graphic visuals, and not wanting to be surprised by that doesn't make you a 'tourist' or whatever they're calling people these days. Content warnings harm no one; they only help.

I'm tired, stressed and overwhelmed so I'm going to try and vent frustration by ranting about the movie we played for the preschoolers today (tomorrow's Thanksgiving so we're off for a few days so we had a movie day).
So we watched an animated adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" that I didn't know existed but apparently came out last year that was just literally called "Scrooge: Christmas Carol" and boy lemme tell you the movie was as bland and unoriginal as the title.
Tell me this: why would you make a Christmas Carol adaptation and then take out everything from the book?! Like, there are fundamental plot points they skipped in favor of flashy over-the-top special effects that served no purpose and didn't further the story at all.
Anyway, here's the thoughts I typed up on my phone while watching it:
"We should have watched the Muppets Christmas Carol (oh my word that's the first one how telling xD)
Why did they give Scrooge a dog?! He never spent extra money on lamp oil, why would he for a dog?! (dog had -17 narrative value btw)
Too many random characters in this
Scrooge hasn't said humbug enough (Idk if he actually ever DID say it at any point and to be fair the movie wasn't very loud but he SHOULD say it a few times at the beginning it's his CATCHPHRASE)
Why does the ghost of Christmas past look Like That? She's supposed to look like a kid not a candle (also she was irritating)
Too many theatrics (why did they travel through the Time Vortex every time Scrooge went somewhere with the ghosts?! why did reality keep fracturing during musical numbers?!)
Where's my nice aesthetic scene of Scrooge flying over rooftops?
If Scrooge isn't scared witless by the ghost of Christmas yet to come you're doing it wrong.
(at the end when he's changed) Where's him tricking Bob and being mischievous?! (like seriously one of my FAVORITE parts is when he goes to Bob's house like "how dare you not be at work today, jk here's a pay raise :)")
Ugh, this movie was annoying, gorgeous animation but the story was BUTCHERED in favor of special effects.
On the upside, Tiny Tim was adorable."
Also Scrooge wasn't really... how do I say this? I was more annoyed than horrified by him. Like, he's not a *presence* like he should be, he's just kind of grumpy. They tried to portray him as sympathetic from the very beginning which is NOT how he's supposed to be and I think it backfired in all ways. He turns out feeling kind of wishy-washy, not an awful, evil miser, but also not a nice guy.
The whole ending was a mess, it COULD have helped the movie A LOT if they had gone the traditional route but nah, Scrooge invited some random kids into his house and they decorated it offscreen and then all the people he ever wronged just showed up at his house for dinner. No turkey the size of Tiny Tim, no shocking everyone by showing up and being suddenly friendly, Idk, it was just extremely disappointing.
I think the theatrics around the ghosts actually made them less intimidating/frightening, especially the ghost of Christmas future. Like, ghost of Christmas present just kinda melts and turns into Future and there's a storm and a ring of fire and Idk man, it was just too over the top. The whole movie was like that and it just got really old really fast.
And WHY did they give Scrooge a weird tragic backstory? The whole point was that he CHOSE this life, he wasn't FORCED into it by circumstance (I read a review that pointed out that instead of his traditional backstory they gave Scrooge Dickens' backstory and just... why).
Also the songs were totally unmemorable, there weren't even lines or tunes from it that stuck in my head. You know what's been playing in my head instead? Songs from the Muppet Christmas Carol.
The only good thing was that it did keep the kids' focus for quite a bit. Like, for prek it was fine I guess but it was just kind of mind-numbing and annoying as an adult. tbh I think the kids only were interested because of the flashing lights and colors and they largely lost interest after snack and I can't blame them.
I think the movie could have been decent if it had kept the original plot points and had Scrooge be miserly and totally unperceptive to Christmas at first like he is traditionally. They could still have added stuff but they should have kept the original story. Like, I didn't mind the scene where I think??? Scrooge and Marley evicted Bob Cratchit's parents when Bob was a baby. Like, that could have added some interesting depth if they'd DONE anything with it besides show it to us. And Scrooge's "transformation" was so watered down it hardly mattered.
Anyway, it kept the kids entertained for an hourish so I guess that's the important thing, but next time we have a movie day I'm definitely offering to bring something in to watch. xD

AOS mckirk + 43? ❤️
Prompt 43 was, "Why aren't you eating?" You can find the list of prompts here. I originally wrote a version of this request where it's Jim not eating, but then my mind kept saying, but what if it was McCoy. So I did that. XD There's going to be a second part to this where Jim is the one not eating. You can also read the story on AO3 here:
Summary:
It's easy to push aside eating in favor of finishing a task at hand. Everyone needs reminders sometimes.
Start:
When Jim Kirk steps into McCoy's private office space, there's a swagger that's ever-present in his moves. A self-confidence that's more act than reality. Leonard has enough kindness to keep from announcing the fact. The doctor lowers a PADD that had been claiming his ever-dissipating attention, for the last hour and a half.
"Nurse Chapel tells me you haven't been eating." The doctor drops his PADD onto his desk as if he couldn't be bothered to read it for another moment.
“She told you.” McCoy corrects before rolling his eyes. It’s official. No more late-night lab tests with Spock. The vulcan’s beginning to rub off on him. Leonard shakes his head. His fingers impatiently tap against the PADD’s screen. "Christine needs to learn how to keep information to herself." Jim’s foot began to subconsciously tap along with Bones’ fingers. McCoy huffs and crosses his arms. "It's unprofessional."
"She worries about you Bones." Kirk leans against the doctor's desk. A knowing smile on his face. "I worry about you."
That’s obvious. Despite his role as captain, Jim has never been able to hide his favoritism. He’s kept those who he first encountered on the ship closer than most others. Their history throughout the academy resulted in McCoy being allowed closer than most. Even more so than the bridge crew.
"I don't need you worrying over me." Bones insists. How many times have they had a conversation like this? With another huff, he stands up. "And leave Christine alone. She's a rather skilled nurse. I'd hate to lose her. Again." That last word came out with a little more bite than he intended.
"I'll keep that in mind."
There's so much work to do. Wounds to heal, chests waiting to be sewn up, check-ups, vaccinations, physical therapies to watch, paperwork to sign off on, newly released research to catch up on, and then review. All before they head off to start this new five-year mission. The work never ends, and damn it! He's a doctor. If anyone knows how far and long their body can go, it's him. No puffed-up captain is going to tell him otherwise.
"Bones," Jim's soft call is followed by a hand clapping around McCoy's shoulder. Leonard shrugs the handoff. Concern fills Jim's face. His usual smirk now hangs awkwardly open. No doubt the gears are turning in that quick mind. Nimble as a fox. That's what his father would’ve called Jim.
If they ever had the chance to meet.
"I just want to make sure you keep some meat on you." Jim jokes, rounding on McCoy. He folds his arms over his chest and offers a light smile. Even that small smile would be enough to brighten up most of McCoy's days. Not now though. There’s no time. He’s due for a surgery in about eight hours. Eight hours that’ll pass in a blink of an eye if he’s not careful.
"I've got work to do Jim." Leonard tries to step around.
Jim swiftly sways and weaves to keep in his way. "Come on Bones. Join me for lunch."
"I can't."
"Yes, you can.” Jim’s the one rolling his eyes now. “Take a break.” He throws a hand out, leaning in the doorway. Thoroughly blocking McCoy’s only way out. “Captain's orders." He adds with a wink.
"I said I can't." It’s not that he doesn’t want to, but there’s too much on the scales. He has to keep going just to keep them balanced. Otherwise, Jim will be short on crew, and missing talented people. Individuals that may keep him alive. Out there in the vast emptiness, they’ll only have each other to count on. Starfleet won’t be able to help if they get into trouble. They can’t have come so far for McCoy to make a mistake. Not now. Not again.
McCoy furrows his brows and fights back the memories threatening to take his attention. Deep down Leonard knows why he’s doing this. Why it has become so easy to push his own needs aside and focus on all the lives on board.
Part of it is his training. Doctors of all kinds learn early on in school how to push down the biological signs of hunger and stress. When you have lab results due in the morning, but the tests haven’t run their full course yet, and midterms are around the corner, while professor after professor is encouraging you to start thinking about your thesis work now before you even manage to get out of undergrad, well stress becomes seconded nature. Exhaustion, hunger pangs, and increased anxiety that verges on panic attacks, all get swept under the rug, and suppressed until a body can’t go on anymore. By the time they get to medical school most students have bodies that are simultaneously, in a horrendous state, yet conditioned to work through it. They keep to themselves. Reminding himself with post-its, handwritten notes scrawled in the empty spaces of his books, and phone alerts to drink water, eat food, and take five minutes to close his eyes before pushing on. Always aware of the fact of the hypocrisy between the instructions he gives to patients on how to care for themselves as he works himself to the bone.
Leonard’s trained not to share his own problems. To ignore his own needs, but even that can only go so far. Deep down there’s more to it. A fear deeper than the grief that washes over him as he loses a patient. Something that motivates him more than any fear he experienced when in school or out in space.
He can’t lose Jim again.
"And I said you can." Jim opens up his arms, talking with his hands. "You're not much help to anyone if you're all skin and bones."
The timing had been more. Leonard knows that’s not what James was saying. He wasn’t invalidating the fear, but rationality wasn’t home today. "Damn it Jim, I said no!" McCoy’s hand goes flying past Jim, towards the door’s control. Fingers catch on the bottom of Jim’s long sleeve as his palm smacks the buttons.
It’s painful how ingrained that loss had become in his life. Terrifying how the mere thought of it sends his mind spiraling as if lost to a deep, powerful vortex that sucks everything else away.
"Hey!" Jim pushes a hand against Leonard's chest. "Watch the hand, McCoy."
McCoy pulls his hand back. His fingers were shaking. With a deep sigh Leonard folds them in. Doing his best to calm his racing nerves the doctor closes his eyes. Doing his best stern, yet calm voice Leonard says, "Just get out of here Jim. I've got lives to save, and people who need fixing." People you need.
Leonard opens his eyes slowly. The look on Jim’s face was one of determination. Better than heartbroken. McCoy can only imagine his own expression. He needs to get back to work.
“Nurse Chapel.” Christine appears right behind him, as if waiting for Jim’s call. “When is Doctor McCoy’s next scheduled appointment?”
“In eight hours sir. It’s Lieutenant Alfonse’s surgery.” An engineer skilled enough, that Scotty himself has been asking after his health since they first discovered the kidney issue.
“Does he have any pressing matters in the meantime?”
Christine doesn’t even bother pretending to look at the datapadd in her hands. “No sir?” Her eyes stare McCoy down.
“He’s officially off shift. Call me directly if there’s an emergency.” Leonard fights back the urge to swear. Jim really isn’t going to let this drop.
“You sir?” Chapel asks, trying to get a look at the captain’s face. The man keeps his back to her, and his eyes trained on McCoy.
Jim crosses his arms. “He’ll be eating with me in my room.” A new smirk adorns his face. “Won’t you Bones?”
Sensing no room for argument McCoy agrees through gritted teeth, “I guess I will, sir.” He added that last word to make it clear that while he’s bending he’ll remember this. If Jim’s bothered by that idea, he doesn’t act like it.
Jim steps aside, finally letting Leonard pass by. Chapel steps back out of the way, heading over to the bio beds, with a polite nod of her head. Leonard steals a glance at her datapadd. It wasn’t even turned on. They planned this! Jim comes bounding after. He lightly pats Leonard’s arm, as he falls into step beside the doctor. “No be angry Bones. You’re gonna like this.”
“I like working.”
Jim playfully smacks McCoy’s chest. “No you don’t. You like fried potatoes, dumplings, and steak bites.”
That stops Leonard dead in his tracks. “What?” He turns to face Jim whose got the biggest shit-eating grin. Sickbay’s front door slides shut behind them.
Jim grabs both of McCoy’s arms, and fix the end of his short sleeves. “Like I said,” Jim leans closer practically bubbling with energy. “You’ll like it. I even used basil.”
This time Leonard couldn’t keep his face from forming a wide, disblieving smile. “You what?” Did that mean Jim actually cooked? Yeah they were still on Earth but it must’ve been out of his way to go and grab actual food from a market. McCoy’s stomach growls, voicing it’s lack of care over where the food came from, or how it was prepared. Either way he has to try it now. As if it wasn’t already being required by Jim.
A home cook meal. Literally. It shouldn’t be such an odd thought considering that the Enterprise was going to be his only home for the next five years. Leonard had expected to only eat synthesized food for it all. An actual cooked meal, made with fresh ingredients, his mouth starts to water.
The captain was already a few steps down the hall, as McCoy’s feet finally lift and start to follow. With each step bringing him a little bit closer to the promise of food, his body grows lighter. There’s still a lot of work to do. Guilt threatens to rear it’s ugly head back up, but Jim’s smile banishes the thoughts to the deepest recesses of Bones’ mind.
Sometimes it’s easy to forget to actually enjoy his time with the people he wants to save.
Another lesson trained into the practice, unfortunately.

Hey!! (animeomegas here <3) I don't know anything about jjk, but I love actor AUs and I was wondering if you have any fun ideas for Naruto, the arcana or Mystic messenger? For some reason I've been imagining how a Mystic Messenger TV show would work and sketching out poster ideas for it 😫 This isn't really intended as a request, I just want to hear your stream of thought haha. Hope you've been having a wonderful day! <33
Hi @animeomegas I actually had a really long day but it was nice! I got a lot of things done. I hope you also had a good day ^^. So, okay okay okay you know I love casual stream of thought... and talking ahaha, and I also love behind the camera drama (I am also avoiding any wip work because 9+ hours at work fried the thesaurus bit of my brain)
Naruto
Naruto is such a specifically anime show. The budget for a complete 1:1 live action remake would probably make people so mad, there would have to be so much CGI for the final battle.
I feel like it could work for actors au as either:
1. Make Naruto a movie series. It's probably got a cult following like Star Wars and started off as some kind of original idea in the 70s and then got acquisitioned by a huge conglomerate in the 90s-2000s era, and had enough films (like the fast and furious franchises XD, so... eight at least) that it was able to cover all the material up until our time lol.
I actually went and reviewed the arcs because I love procrastination through research oop, but if you cut out/combine the filler arcs/turn them into serialized shows for streaming, you're left with enough material for about 3 movies from genin-days (when the actors Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura age from 11-14) and 5 movies from the shippuden era (there the main trio actors age from 16-24)
Playing off that nostalgia factor, Jiraiya's actor either played Minato or Naruto in the 70s film. He's since become a very famous actor/producer/director. Kakashi's father also played Kakashi's character in the original 70s film, so having him return as Sakumo for the Pein arc was a little Easter egg. There's a couple of instances of this throughout the series. For example, Madara is actually played by the same actor who played Sasuke in the og series, and the makeup used to age him in the flashback arcs gets high praise. Hashirama is played by the same kid who played Rock Lee in the first films too. Tsunade was played by the same girl who was either Ino in the original, etc.
Kind of like marvel, there's a ton of actors who are only sort of or not very famous when the films start, and the kids are certainly no-name actors (kind of [Sakura reads to me like a former disney-channel kid lol]), and then as the films get wildly popular, the franchise gains the Midas touch and even all of the recurrent minor characters get arcs/spinoffs/or see further success in their careers.
And as with marvel, it truly becomes like... everyone famous in a certain generation was in the Naruto franchise.
Sasuke had some actual industry connections prior to casting, but that was only because his brother was a young up-and-coming model. They sort of spring-boarded one anothers' careers. Playing the franchise characters traumatized them oop, and irl they're very close. There's a noticeable uptick in viewership for compilation videos of the Uchiha brothers being best siblings after about movie 6 when Sasuke finally kills Itachi and movie 7's fight with Kabuto is one of the most watched clips ever.
Also marvel-esque, I think people have mixed opinions about the ending lol (just like they do the anime) because on one hand, explosions! amazing visual effects! the whole ensemble ready to assemble! stacked nostalgia value! answers to some of the most asked fandom questions! amazing physical feats (Naruto and by extension Sasuke mostly insist on doing their own stunts)! and on the other... you have some of the thousand story threads being lost in the sauce, lackluster characterization for a some of the ladies, leaning perhaps too much on nostalgia value, complete obliteration of power scaling, suddenly there's almost too much content, and you have to have watched all three spinoff series to understand some of the in-world references, also fighting between the original concept creator and head writer and the production teams :p (yes this is Io being too literal haha)
2nd option: The Naruto characters all belong to the same representative entertainment company (think SM or YG /pulls face because cabal culture disturbs me/). I think this is more like an idols AU, and the relationships are significantly more catty and have more drama, but they're all actors/other entertainment related career lol so it's also kind of actors au?
The company probably tried for a ninjas/powers theme during recruitment and promotion so that's where you get Kakashi associated with dogs and lightning, Sasuke associated with snakes and later hawks and fire, Naruto associated with frogs and wind, Sakura associated with slugs and healing, Itachi associated with crows and dreams, Haku associated with ice and mirrors, Sai associated with tigers and ink, Tenzo/Yamato associated with trees, Gaara associated with tanuki and sand etc.
Itachi and Sasuke have an infamous rivalry that never really "resolves" so much as disappears because Itachi retires for a few years to deal with physical and mental health issues. It would be during this time he goes public with a relationship and he gets married before making a comeback. Even after the brothers reconcile and do projects together, people still bring up their Fighting Era and it pisses Sasuke off because the public doesn't really know what happened and he hates the speculation. Part of the controversy is that Sasuke left the company only a few years after signing on, joined a small rival company that was later embroiled in scandal, and then returned to the same company as his brother right around the time Itachi took a break.
Kakashi is the oldest of the "new generation" that's promoted during that time, but he's a very successful child actor turned model and adult actor. He did a bunch of shows that have great repeat value though so he basically lives off residuals and picks his projects and is very obvious but rather quiet about the ways he critiques the current entertainment industry. He's very good friends with Tenzo, stagename Yamato
Haku is a musician first and an actor second. He made his debut as part of a short lived idol group before going solo and starting musical stages. He's an up and coming favorite for historical dramas.
Gaara and Naruto are child actors who have been best friends for ages and help one another work through the inevitable industry challenges. They separately become really popular role models for kids from their hometowns. Kankuro is Gaara's personal rock in the working world, even though Kankuro's bad-boy image and slightly freaky aesthetic don't surface level seem to match with Gaara's more reserved and authentic method of dealing with the constant press.
Shikamaru and Nagato both separately give me musician/model vibes, but in different genres. Shikamaru quits the music thing very quickly to become a producer lol because more math and less fighting with fickle public opinion.
Mystic Messenger
If you sketch the the poster idea you haaaave to post it, please pretty please Amy?? Because you're so right, the whole plot is absolutely like a thriller/romcom kdrama. (Because the characters are well fleshed out it could also work with preserving the character backstories but have them all have entered acting later on.)
I looked up some Kdrama posters and the one where the leads for "because this is my first life" are standing in a stylized apartment balcony reminded me somewhat of thee game, mostly because the MC is stuck in the apartment for a good portion of the seven days lol.
If the whole Mystic Messenger plot were a drama...
MC is probably a rookie actor with one or two well done but not widely distributed productions under their belt.
Yoosung was maybe a child-actor which makes the whole ingenue thing kind of funny for his fans. Like yes, this is his first "adult role" (his baby face means he otherwise plays a lot of high schoolers) but it's this odd mixture of experience meaning he plays the role perfectly, but lack of experience with normal people resulting in a lot of blushing and stammering and totally tunnel vision flirting during the press tour haha.
I'd love for Jumin to come from a similar but less severe situation as game-Jumin. Like maybe his father has remarried a bunch of times, but he actually gets along with the stepmother who's been his mother for most of his life and he takes her to premiers with him. He grew up poor so he finds playing a lot of wealthy heirs type characters because of his looks to be a very strange turn of events, but he overall doesn't talk about his past much in public.
Hmmm, Jaehee seems the type to play a lot of severe characters in her usual roles because of her appearance, but like game-Jaehee she's got a very cute and adorable side that's coupled with a very genuine personalty. The interviewers probably make her do a lot of aegyo T.T poor Jaehee. She probably also worked her way through a prestigious drama school, either in-country or abroad, so she loves to read.
Zen always offers to do the aegyo with Jaehee so she doesn't have to suffer alone haha. He on the other hand never went to drama school, he's been acting since he was about 17 so all his training was in-company, although his company helped to put him through college where he did an advertising and media degree. He didn't have the exposure Jaehee did to classical media and arts, so they are irl very good friends who bond over their interest in business and Zen's interest in gaining a deeper understanding of acting and theater.
I see 707 as the person who was probably an idol musician before he started acting and mostly left group music behind. I've never played his route through, but he seems like the kind of person who is sometimes frustratingly talented lol. He is a natural at almost everything he tries which sometimes stresses him out because he wonders if there's something else he should be doing besides acting.
V seems like the kind of person however who was maybe a model first, and then turned to acting? I hate to say this, but it's the kind of situation where his incredible looks and sweet irl personality have garnered him a very devoted following but his parts in dramas tend to be second-string or somewhat minor or... kind of weird lol, and when he is the lead the show is usually only "okay" because the writing will be strange 😅 which is technically not his fault, but to be honest most of his income comes from promotional deals.
You like Saeran, right? so I won't leave him out! He's got this doe-eyed look that makes me think of a new debut actor! This is also one of his first major roles so he and MC lean on each other a lot and have to work hard to make sure their relationship off-screen is comfortable because they have so many scary intense scenes later on. He and 707 are either irl siblings, or just because so close during filming that they're truly like brothers now and 707 is always seen supporting Saeran, especially when Saeran decides to venture into the music scene and his vocal style and color means he explodes into popularity almost right away.
The Arcana
Somehow I can see this becoming an HBO drama? or maybe an Akuzon special because it's very good about placing lgbtq themes in-world (which was sort of groundbreaking when the game debuted). This one is so hard because each route gradually ended up diverging so much and in such different ways and expanding on the world in such a rewarding diversity of directions that you could truly have a beautiful, successful show no matter what route was filmed.
You could potentially have a Witcher-type situation where you really do have multiple routes and timeline splitting. If someone who's got a really good editing team working with a really tight writing team I think they could do it.
But otherwise, this is another situation where the main cast has had friend configurations for a While and doing this project brought them all closer together!
Ilya and Asra have known one another probably the longest industry-wise. They did a smaller well received indie film once about five years before Arcana with the vaguest of nods to brokeback mountain (I've never seen it, sorry) but a much happier road trip lovers plot, so having to play disillusioned, one-sided pining ex-lovers who had a very toxic last year to their relationship is... something XD.
Asra and Muriel have been personal friends since their days as students - they went to the same camps and programs to study acting and in their interviews, they have a fun time talking about some personal anecdotes (like the fact they did indeed frequently camp at a lakeside together as children) which made it into their own characters' backstories.
Nadia and Lucio are very Nikolaj/Gwendoline during their press and off-screen interactions. They find their characters' personas to be sort of hilariously poorly matched.
Portia is a famously hard working actress who clawed her way through the world of cinema and still managed to stay a decent, well grounded person. She's not actually related to Ilya irl but they got along really well from the beginning so there's lots of videos of them acting like siblings off screen.
Because the on-site shoots for Arcana required so much travel, the cast got to spend a lot of bonding time together, and saw a ton of unique places. The cast always has stories of swimming and hiking or trying new food or pictures of each other at famous sites during their days off. Muriel is actually the one who plans the outdoor adventures the best, he was an athlete and had military training before becoming an actor and he loves being outside so he'll lead these kinds of outings. People adore his social media because he's got that outdoors guy vibe but he's very sweet and he smiles a lot more irl than his roles usually do.
Portia and Julian are the most likely to get lost in any place, but they're also super fun to travel with because they always find interesting people and places that are off the beaten path.
Nadia and Asra have the most normal but also most aesthetic social media feeds. They always seem able to catch the golden hour light somehow...
After Arcana, they each often end up cast in or around the same movies/franchises/series as well, because they do work very well together. The show also helped them break out of some type casting, to their delight.
Lucio trends towards action and romcom films, he does often get typecast as some kind of villain, but his redemption arc in Arcana actually helped him break into more of the antihero type roles. He can be adorably goofy at times.
Nadia used to play the femme fatale quite frequently but since Arcana she's been able to take on softer roles, still often playing a woman in power, but she's been able to mix and cross genres. She also has been working on a screenplay and wants to try directing.
Portia was famous before Arcana but the show helped enter her into some of the more mainstream conversation and she has her first action-type role soon after Arcana ends.
Asra has a delicate physique and had some trouble in the past with being passed over roles that required more "force of presence" in the past. However, since showing his side as the secretive, enigmatic, manipulative magician, he's been able to try on the hats of villains, return to some roles on the true stage (his first love), and play the lead in a more serious political thriller.
Muriel had the opposite problem with his large build often precluding him from anything but action films. Since Arcana he's been able to try a few romantic lead parts, and has embraced his popularity by searching out meaningful mid-budget films where he can broaden his talents.
Julian is very tall, so he used to play quite a few more domineering, dastardly types in the films he did before Arcana. The show also brought him into the spotlight. He still does well as the sneering, dangerous, tall and dark type, but he's found that he can and is willing to push for playing something softer, someone who follows instead of leads in the on-screen dynamics. You and Ilya end up in a bodyguard type of drama at some point where he spends a lot of time on his knees swearing his devotion and playing a lot of subtext lol.
MC in this seems like they would have been a more experienced actor before taking on the linchpin role for Arcana, but the show granted you the experience to step into other roles both in front of and behind the camera and we'll probably see an MC directed and produced short film or indie film within the next few years!

First of i wanna deeply thank you and your friend for making such a great one-shot (idc if it's little or big it- still a fic and i will shower it with love)
Firstly i got smashed by your beautiful art of F!leo and damn it's gonna be a lie if i said it doesn't make me feel comfy right away 🩷
I didn't know it was snow day which it made me super confused as for why bbg would feel slight of cold even after getting buried under all those blankets!
I love how even tho Leo's buried under the blankets like a gremlin he open his non existing ears to listen if kids are there, remind me of radar xD
Leo smelling coffee and wanting a cup but fighting wither to leave his comfy bed and walk to get one is such a mood!! I feel him! Especially when he doesn't give a rat ass for wearing identical socks!!
Now am gonna be honest here i NEVER had pop tart nor any toaster pastries type so i don't know if it's good with coffee or nah.
But i bet the moment f!mikey & lil mikey are now the 'Mom' who take care of certain stubborn family members *cough* *cough* Donnie and leos *cough*
100% bet that f!leo is watching " family feud "
CJ sneaking in and hide under F!leo's blankets makes my heart melt especially thinking he couldn't get to do this often in the bad timeline future 😢
And the part where he sneak his feet into f!leo made it so hard for me to imagine it happens because F!LEO'S FEET'S SO BIG!! HE'S LIKE LITTLE BIG FOOT. OGZGOZGODOXG
Again, CJ talking ab his day of building snowman, snow horse - i didn't know this's a thing - and did they even play snow fight? Because my money is on future boy, he'll DESTROY THEM!!
It makes me happy seeing F!leo getting less burdens and his guilt is slowly melting away, he's on his path of healing and everybody are helping in, his brother, his dad... Everyone🩵
This one-shot is something i didn't know i needed, truly thank you very much!✨
Words just cannot describe the mere size of the grin that appears on my face every time I see a review from you THANK YOU SO MUCHHHH HAHGFD I LOVE READING YOUR THOUGHTS SM
The "waking up to a chill even though you're buried under a mountain of blankets" is based on real life events XD My apartment is drafty and because I can't keep my face under the blankets, some winter mornings I wake up with a cold-to-the-touch nose and it doesn't even have to be snowing outside!
I've tasted pop-tarts once and they were sweet so they pair up with coffee very well 😎
Family Feud omg yeah it's probably that one, it sounds perfect sdjfshf
THE SOCKS ARE LOOSE they're on the bigger side even on Leonardo so Casey's feet fit in there just fine!! XD I'm a woollen sock connoisseur and lemme tell you if the socks are too tight they feel horrible and aren't even that warm, so loose is the way to go 🙌
And yes a snow horse!!! We built those all the time as children and hey here's a picture of a famous Finnish snow horse 😏
Tumblr media
You're so right about the snow fight!!! Casey and April teamed up and they were unbeatable >:D
Last but not least, yes oh my god it's so important to me to let Leonardo heal and rest and learn TO JUST EXIST ;_; Thank you for finding joy in it, too, and again thank you sm for reading and commenting I'M SO GLAD YOU ENJOYED THIS LITTLE FIC <3

The Hunger Games, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes SPOILERS (BOOKS AND MOVIES)
ok so I'm sure that by now everyone has seen the posts about how brilliantly Suzanne Collins wove her prequel into the story.
So this will also be such a post. Not a particularly detailed one but hey xD
Anyway - AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
I adore how before Lucy Gray disappears, she tells Snow - I'm going to look for katniss. And then 64 years later, Katniss Everdeen wins the 74th Hunger Games with the meadow song, with a Mockingjay token and by cleverly playing the system (even if it wasn't her intention).
Of course, this reminds Snow of how he played the system in Lucy Gray's favour, he remembers that song from 12 and the Mockingjays that sang after Lucy Gray disappeared.
The parallels are brilliant! And every time that I think about them, I'm once again reminded just how much and why Coriolanus Snow despised Katniss. Not only was she a symbol of rebellion, but she also carried symbols from a past that he wanted to erase. And sure, no one else alive that can hurt him in the capital remembers, but what if someone digs just a little deeper, notices and checks something that appears to be just a little off?
And with so many coincidences surrounding Katniss, is it really a wonder that he assumed that a ghost of his former lover was coming to haunt him from the grave?
There are definitely more parallels out there but I'm currently too tired to think of them xD.
God, I love the world of the Hunger Games. It's so brilliantly written with wonderfully written characters that make me want to continue peeling back their layers just to see what makes them tick. Suzanne Collins truly wrote a masterpiece.
Also I did really enjoy the new movie. I ended up watching it in a language that isn't my native language and was pleased to have understood the majority of what was said xD. The fact that I had read the book previously definitely helped! XD
The sound track was to die for though! Everyone's singing was beautiful. Rachel Zegler's voice really haunted some scenes and gave me chills on more than one occasion. Hearing Can't Catch Me Now during the end credits was great. I've seen some people say that it really explained what happened to Lucy Gray after she disappeared and yeah, I can see where they are coming from. I just really liked how the lyrics tie the end of the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes with what happens in the Hunger Games. Olivia Rodrigo did a brilliant job with the lyrics.
Ok so this rambling has turned into a review. 😅
Anyway, my only complaint is that we did not see a lot of the Covey in the movie and that the connection between Katniss' dad and the Covey wasn't hinted at.
Having said that, the fact that Katniss' dad taught her those songs and how to hunt wasn't something that was mentioned in the Hunger Games movies (from what I remember of them) so it makes sense that that was left out.
Overall, the movie was amazing. Would recommend - 9/10.
The books are of course a very steady 9.5/10 for me xD.
At some point I'll probably need to make a post about the actors that played Sejanus and Dr. Gaul. They were fantastic! Having said that, the whole cast was really well cast and everyone played their role really well. I was very satisfied with the casting and with everyone's performance.

*This review has a picture from the movie and SPOILERS, so if you haven’t seen it, I suggest you watch it before reading my post :)*
I saw the Mario Movie yesterday and so I thought I’d share my thoughts about it and give my overall rating!
Chris Pratt doesn’t suck! When I first saw that Chris Pratt was gonna voice Mario, I was hesitant. I really thought Charles should have voiced him but when I saw him speaking in the movie, it honestly wasn’t that bad! It was actually pretty good, in my opinion :D
Everyone else did a good job voicing the characters! Jack Black however, was definitely my favorite. He nailed Bowser!!! 😄
The humor was great and I actually laughed at some of the jokes in the movie!!
Bowser being in love with peach was hilarious and I loved his song!! XD
Mario and Peach bonding was so cute!! I loved seeing them interact with one another!! The way Mario tried to flirt with her and DK just making fun of him for it was really funny!
LUIGI AND MARIO WERE LITERALLY THE MOST PRECIOUS PART OF THIS MOVIE!!! I love their brotherly bond and I love them!!!
Tumblr media
THE REFERENCES!!!! This movie is filled with so many references to the games!!! Every single time I saw a reference, I was just so happy!!
They actually gave an explanation as to why Peach is the only human in the mushroom kingdom!!
BABY MARIO AND LUIGI WERE SO CUTE!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
That blue Luma is concerning.. 🤣
The ending was awesome!!! The final fight between Boswer and the brothers was amazing!! Seeing Mario and Luigi get the super star and just kick his butt was incredible!!!
My only major complaint is that Luigi didn’t get to do much in the movie. I get why, but I just wish it cut to him more or showed him trying to escape bowsers lair or start a revolution or something like that.
Throughout the movie, it’s shown that Mario always protects Luigi and is always there for him. I thought that maybe someone would call him out on it and he’d grow from it and try to be more brave.
He did save Mario at the end and help him save the day though, so I’ll give him that :)
Like, he saved him without using a power up or anything!! He just shielded Mario from Bowsers flames using a trash can cover!! He could have died and he still went and protected Mario!! NOW THAT’S BROTHERLY LOVE!!
Overall, the movie was amazing!! I give it a 9.9 out of 10!! ❤️💚

The Stormlight Archive Volume 1: The Way of Kings’ Review: Chapters 20-23
Tumblr media

Hello my dear sweet angels, it is me, I am back after a stressful ass week - final essay deadlines, dumb ass uni reading, consuming of alcohol, the touching of grass (pictured above as evidence to myself and everyone else that I do, in fact, go outside). While TWOK is definitely a reprieve from working, I have been so tired that I have found it difficult to muster up the energy to do read more than necessary so I have had to pick and choose days and only had time to write this up today.
Fret not! I am for sure still enjoying the book and these reviews will continue on :) I am thinking of writing up reviews weekly, every Sunday as it tends to be a more relaxed day of the week for me so expect these every Sunday unless stated otherwise (not as late in the day as this tho, I was napping ;P).
Spoiler Free Zone:
This part was majority Kaladin, including a cheeky flashback which you all know I love!
Its nice to see some wholesome bridge four interactions after so much indifferent to one another too, my little heart ;-;
I also got more of Wit, whose presence I will always be ready and waiting to receive. He reminds me of the vibe my friends and I have when were together and I think that’s why I love him so much as we dont see each other often with studying in different cities :((
***SPOILERS AHEAD***
Spoiler Zone:
Chapter 20 really had to start by ripping my heart out and dancing on it still beating with young Kaladin crying and the whole like was there a salve that stopped the tears thing after failing to save that kid. Like bro the chapter was like 2.5 pages long you cant be doing that Brandon :’’’’’)
To go from that to like giving me more reason to hate Sadeas even tho its not necessary by trying to make further example out of bridge four. Like ugh people who treat other humans as less than really boil my blood more than any other like villainous archetype bc its such a real thing and there is fully no excuse for it. Its becoming why I like Dalinar more and more as he is changing to become more progressive in his treatetment of others. Not to mention him roasting Adolin’s serial dating thats also a plus
At least I had Wit in the next chapter to put more pep in my step. As a frequent roaster of the upper class with being a povo northerner, nothing delights me more than seeing others with the same sentiments as me :)) Plus the classis “oh *insert god or deity here*” “no just me” exchange is one of my fave ever since watching the shadowhunters movie as a kid so that was a welcome addition too.
The highlight tho has to be the bridge four relationships like by far. Rock and Syl friendship? iconic. Teft giving into helping and acc enjoying it to an extent? love to see it. Rock putting chull dung in Sadeas’ food? Literally cannot be topped ever.
P.S: This literally took so long to write bc I still had residual sleepiness from my nap omg this is to my future self to NOT write a review part just after waking up xD.

just for the record, for Samurai Rabbit fans who do like the show, objectively, the show is pretty good. What's the objective measure here? for me it's usually just much I can enjoy it while watching, but there's always more to it than that. i was a bit bored with the show the first 2 eps, but then it surprised me with a few elements in ep 3. I slowly understood what it was actually going for with the slowness. I kept watching and found things I liked about it. Got all sorts of theories and connections and story ideas. I started re-reading Usagi Yojimbo and went looking for more crew interviews. Saw how much the cast and crew seemed to like it and I'm convinced that it was a good show to work on. Rewatched it in other dubs to get some other perspective for my theories. But that's just one way I enjoy shows.
Of course, there's no real objectivity when it comes to tastes, so I say, if you like it, like it unabashedly. You never know when a show just ends or you'll look back and might feel sad you didn't really let yourself enjoy it, just because others don't. I've watched much trashier shows before this one, (comparably, Samurai Rabbit isn't even trashy at all), and those have gotten much less hate, for being much much more annoying/bad/low quality as a whole x3 You don't have to feel bad about folks hating on the show online. They just have a different taste than you. But if you like it, that's really the only metric you need to judge it.
(this is specifically a thought bc a younger fan wrote to me that they felt sad that the show got so much hate in reviews/online posts etc)
if the show was truly as bad as some folks say, it probably would not have been made. there are just so many factors at play in making a show, i personally just try to go by my gut feeling at this point abt shows and if they're going to be fun to watch or not.
Tumblr media
and lol i don't have the energy to put this into a longer well-articulated post but still wondering i guess why there are so many posts with "oh this show ain't so good, i hate it" etc etc
so????
sorry for sounding harsh or whatever but literally, watch more animation!!!! there are shows worse than this one and if you'd been alive when those aired you would have watched them and remembered them fondly, only to realize one day you were just watching them out of boredom bc there was nothing else animated on
even shows which we lambast as critical darlings within fandoms had their ups and downs during airing
how well a show is received always depends on how much the network loves it, but also a lot of pure luck
or you'd find a good show and see that the network abruptly ended it, not even with a solution or real ending, but just something open bc the creators were hoping the show could come back. or the show would come back, but completely changed, something so unwatchable you wish you could unwatch it
at least, that was my experience watching cartoons as a 20-something or younger, coming back to cartoon-watching because I had time after highschool
maybe the show just came out too late/early, and would have found a different audience if it came out at a different time. I think about how ROTTMNT was received and how now reviewers are coming back to it, with tails between their legs like "UmU this show was not so bad... after all!!!" shut it!!!! i guess compared to how rise was treated by old TMNT fans and critics alike, this one has gone fairly under the radar or remained almost unremarked upon. Well, old UY did complain about it, and youtube reviewers too, so it's sorta the same thing. kids' cartoons will always have adult critics because everyone thinks they know how to run a cartoon/know what a good cartoon is xD
find other things to do!!!! make your own cartoons and see how easy it is. western cartoon/tv is just how it is and it's not bad to expect more of it, but also, it feels weird to go along with hating or reviewbombing etc just because that's become something "in" now. there's worse media than an animated adaptation turned into a kids cartoon, made during the pandemic.
lowkey some of you just seem kind of spoiled with how many good series there are, and you're just putting the bar so high for even shows you like, NOTHING is good for you unless it's extremely perfect or catering to each and every of your expectations xD
yea ok, it's a children's cartoon - whatever! western children's cartoons can run such a wide gamut of quality vs enjoyability, there's so many shows now you can enjoy instead.
if it's good for you, great! if it's not, ok! don't go posting it in the tags as some universal opinion lol xD
again, there are much worse cartoons out there in the past and in other parts of the world. one little animation mistake or even several per episode aren't going to break my enjoyment of the episode or show as a whole xD
the slowness i mentioned experiencing for example, is also subjective. A reviewer on Commonsensemedia, wrote that they found the show too fast-paced, but that their young daugther liked it, and how the messaging came off as good to both them and their child. It's a matter of perspective.
like yeah, it's a bit goofy and dorky at times, I personally do not get some of the jokes (more on that in a proper review) and maybe as an animator, i'm a bit annoyed at some of the things done with the 3D animation specifically. But that's personal! and those are so few things. on the flipside, I was still able to enjoy the rest of the show, because to me it felt like a lot of care and thought was put into it as a whole. Like, many of the visdev team actually asked to be on the show. It can't be that bad if long time professionals around the western animation industry want to work on it.
A show that's truly bad, would not even bother fleshing out some sort of villain or antagonists at all, and mabye would have scrapped Kagehito as a character entirely, when hearing that it was sort of impossible to animate him as intended. But there's a lot of stuff in this show like that. Compromises from the crew, so they could still make the show and focus on aspects of production and story that were more necessary. So for example also, lobbying for more appearances of Miyamoto Usagi, even though Netflix was not on-board with that themselves, the producers and showrunners were. They were pushing for more of him and his backstory in this show.
so eah, idk, this ended up long anyway, but just, if you like it already, it's ok xD you don't have to justify yourself to other fans or people. and honestly, if you dislike it, same thing. you don't have to justify it. you can just dislike things without reason.
