Immovable Upside

Currently appearing in "Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger," the currently airing Super Sentai series, actor Hirakawa Yuzuki-san makes her second appearance in our magazine. She's changed her hair, having it cut into a shorter style, as she presents her pure and mature duality, which has become even more transparent.

-We've been rushing through the year-

"You've cut your hair short, and your look is totally different from the last time we saw you. Personally, how do you feel about your current short hairstyle?"

Hirakawa: Before I started acting, I always kept it short, so it somehow feels nostalgic. I cut it because of my role, but I thought it was abit of a waste since it's been that long for about 5 years (laughs). Still, I think it'll be fine since it grows quickly.

"Starting from episode 27, the second chapter of King-Ohger is set two years later. We think the change in hairstyle made it easier for you to make changes in your performance."

Hirakawa: That's true. I think I'm able to show more strength. I think that after two years, they're more aware and prepared as a king, and that they have a greater sense of responsibility.

"Now that the story has progressed considerably, are there any memorable moments from the episodes that have been broadcast so far?"

Hirakawa: In episode 25, the sense of distance between Rita and their retainer Morfonia, or rather, the values of their relationship have become much closer. It was a time where Rita gathered the courage to take another step forward on their own, so that episode left quite an impression on me. From there, the way they interacted with Morfonia changed completely, so I think it was a turning point for them. Also, in episode 38, they reveal the face they've been hiding up until that point, and showed all kinds of facial expressions as an "idol," so I hope you enjoyed it.

"It's already aired, so if you haven't seen it yet, please catch up and watch it…..! By the time this magazine comes out, filming for the final episode will be underway, right?"

Hirakawa: In about another month or so……"We've got such a long time before it starts!," is what I thought, but only for a moment. I think it was more instantaneous after the Summer film ended. Until then, we weren't used to filming, and everyone was in a state of just trying to figure things out. The cast members have been good friends since the beginning, but since we spent alot of time together, including during the regional promotional campaigns for the Summer film, we became even closer, and that time really flew by.

"For those who view things similarly, the "loss" seems to be intense."

Hirakawa: It might be because me and the rest of the cast are starting to become aware of the end, or maybe it's because some fans are also like, "It's coming to an end….?" I still go out to dinner with all the cast members after filming, so I think we'll still probably see each other again ever when it's over. We've been together for a year and we've gotten to know each other very well, so when I imagine the end of filming, I feel incredibly sad.

"As a fan, I'm going to miss seeing everyone's friendly conversations on Toei Channel very much……Now, 2023 will soon come to an end, looking back, what kind of year was it?"

Hirakawa: We've really been rushing through the year. I've been working hard during the filming of King-Ohger in order to make it better and to help myself grow. I was able to experience many things this year, as there were quite a few jobs that came about as a result of King-Ohger, and it was the most thrilling year for me as a performer. Of course, there were many things I worried about, but I think it was also an extravagant year, filled with many happy and frustrating experiences.

"What kind of year do you want 2024 to be?"

Hirakawa: I think I'll be apart of King-Ohger until the first half of the year, when we perform at G-Rosso, but after that, I'll have to move forward on my own. I'd like to "polish" my inner self and become a more appealing person. As for my work, I'll do my best to continue to appear in productions without taking any breaks inbetween.

(I am just going to address them as their Character it would be a little confusing for some if I use their name)

There might be some spoiler from the movie?

First timing.

They were having issue with microphone while introducing themselves.

Everyone in audience were calling out to them. 🥹 even they call out the Director 🤣 (he did Donbrothers)

Rita at first like eh eh eh is it on? The rest help them out.

(Apparently trying to figure out it was on or not didn’t seem so obvious)

Then Saruhara was also but they also teasing him until he like leave me alone

Tsubasa apparently say he sort of still on a run, he came from Kyoto? Then he has a new hair duo he said Sononi did it for him.

Kijino was like EHHH YOURE CALLING ME ? (He did it also in the second time)

Then King Ohger were ask about their other role they played in alter world

Gira was like I become Uchu ah…he tried to do different facial expression to show the difference between both of Gira.

Yanma was mentioned about him and Shiokara. I think it was about usually Shiokara follow him then how in this opposite? Like he just follow whatever Shiokara said and just act it out? (plus considering Yanma doesn’t like to prepare too much for a scene)

Himeno mention apparently the director and rest were apologising to her because she had to eat the flower which wasn’t very nice and that she create it with the image of an unrequited Cinderella in mind. (Probably to both they felt so bad?)

Rita didn’t expect to do again the dance and singing but it was different then what theh did in the Idol episode. They did mentions that even in main story this probably the most they have seen Rita’s smile the most?

(Yes they still sang and dance the Moffun song…DAMN IT TOEI I WANT A RITA CHARACTER SONG…I mean Moffun is ok but come on…sorry I am still forever salty)

Kaguragi got mention about sumo that he was ask to give a face he normally don’t show. So he gave a really pathetic looking face. The audience found it cute

Jeramie was too into ‘Come on’ (I think I remember he mention he came up with it) after having to finally got a chance to change out of his usual get up.

Rita mention that he had a lot of pose for it.

Then Jeramie was too into the Come on that he end up walking opposite direction to which he pointing. I think he try to save it by saying it the other side!

Tarou was worried since it been a year since they were together. End up everyone did alright.

Kijino mention how he was impressed they did Avataro change in one take

Tarou mention nothing had change just the two hairstyle (Haruka and Tsubasa)

I remember that Kaguragi was saying that Takano-san is huge fan so that why he able to do the script. Kaguragi got mention about the Sumo match the ‘Hao’ ‘Hao’ gesture to the person he fought with whose name was Jackie-Chan 😅

There was one point Tarou said Takano-San name wrongly the King-Ohger corrected him 😂😅

Apparently they were asking about Prince about his action scene how much he train (If I remember correctly)

He was super shy but serious although he was at G-Rosso before which the King-Ohger said to him.

Most of the King-Ohger seem like were teasing him.

Kingohger were saying they had work with their suit actors to do their own action scene.

Director mention he thought King-Ohger would be too overwhelm by Donbrothers but King-Ohger was amazing. He did mention some part in movie would be only be understood by people who watch the main story.

Also parts that was cut out of the movie from what director said would be added in blu-ray (IT A WIN a bit I hope it for both of them since Director was for Donbrothers)

Director mentions that Murasame actually appears in beginning. Asking if we notice it or not. (I mention in my previous spoiler where they are)

There was moment Kaguragi got mention about how the two blue know each other then they share about their story. Like they never thought they get work with each other in this situation. I think Yanma mention was at one point jealous Saruhara got it first?

Haruka was ask to do her killed moment again then Yanma also when he got electrocuted

Tarou say we got a bond Gira last min say his famous line Sekai O Shihai Suru! When they were leaving the stage.

Irisvia "Iris" Ran-Kaniska

The Crown Princess of Ishabana born from Queen Himeno's studies on DNA splicing to have a child made from the DNA of herself, Rita, and Morfonia.

Due to the difficulties of creating a child from more than 2 parents, she was carried in one of Ishabana's Incubators to keep track of her growth and stability. The first trimester was under Himeno's care due to Ishabana's stable climate before being able to be cared for by Rita and Morfonia in Gokkan a couple weeks at a time to allow her to bond with all parents. Rita and Morfonia would try to visit Ishabana as much as possible since the Egg would spend most of its time there.

Because she is of royal blood, Iris has to stay in Ishabana most of the time which has caused issues as she was born when Rita was still King. While her Gokkanian parents do visit, sometimes Himeno would have to take her to Gokkan in order to see them more often. Rita stepped down from being King after Iris's 2nd birthday since their workload often prevented them from seeing their daughter. Morfonia was able to find ways to make the workload easier for herself once she became King so she could still spend time with the child. Both are often seen taking naps together which makes Rita and Himeno snap photos and cry from the cuteness.

Can do a perfect Rita impression (started by Morfonia as a prank. Rita wasn't too happy since they didn't want Iris to end up like them, but accepts that she has fun when doing it)

Her hairclips are asymmetrical on purpose. Himeno does it as a nod to her Chapter 2 dress and Rita's collar and hair. Her skirt is designed to look like flower petals so her outfit is essentially butterflies on a flower.

Her hair has a pink tint due to Himeno's pink highlights from her natural blonde.

How she refers to each parent:

Rita - Papi (パピ). Taken from "Papillon" as Rita didn't want to be called "Papa" after Himeno called them such so they compromised.

Himeno - Mama (ママ)

Morfonia - Ha-ha (母). Morfonia doesn't mind "Kaa-san/-chan" but due to Iris's upbringing, she calls Morf "Ha-ha". (She suggested "Mami" but Himeno rejected it bc it meant she'd match Rita and they already rejected "Papa".). Iris does eventually call her "Kaa-san" as she grows up.

Duet January 2024 Issue ft. Ikeda Masashi Mini Interview (translation below)

Trust your intuition! Searching for fashionable Winter items -Let's go find your "Individuality"-

Ikeda: I want to go shopping for used clothes for the Winter!

"At the request of Ikeda Masashi-kun, we went to Shimokitazawa, where many secondhand clothing stores are located. He went looking for fashionable items that can be used this Winter."

Ikeda: Fall and Winter are especially enjoyable seasons because you can wear layers, allowing for all sorts of fashion variations. I like secondhand clothing and often go shopping for them, but I've been so busy lately that I haven't been able to go, so I'm looking forward to today~

"He said, as he entered a secondhand clothing store with an excited look on his face."

Ikeda: Uwah~ It's a treasure trove!

"The first thing he picked up was a parka."

Ikeda: Today, I want a top and a hat. I like to combine various colors in my own style, so I have clothes in a variety of colors, from brights to monochrome. My favorite color is white, but for some reason, I tend to pick reds…maybe I actually like them (laughs).

"Ikeda-kun said. He also seems to wear flashy coordinated clothes."

Ikeda: My parents used to say to me, "What are you wearing?" (laughs). But, I believe in my own sense of style, and I'll wear things without being discouraged.

"He said, with a shy smile. One after another, he picked up clothes, including a leather jacket, a knit cardigan, and more."

Ikeda: I guess I'm not particular about the genre of fashion. Alternative fashion, casual styles, whatever, I like them. Color matching and the shape are very important though, and I'll buy pants in a variety of shapes, wide and thin, even if they're the same color. For tops, I often play with flashy patterns and colors, and choose simple ones for the pants.

"While picking things out, he said,"

Ikeda: This! It's interesting!

"He found a nylon track jacket in the shape of a vest."

Ikeda: When I buy something, I always trust my intuition to tell me "it's good," and I'm drawn to shapes that I've never seen before. However, it's difficult to match them, so I often end up content after wearing them a single time (laughs). Because of that, my room is full of clothes. While I trust my intuition, I also try to think about if I already have something similar.

"While keeping the track jacket, he heads towards the hat corner!"

Ikeda: I like caps because they have unique logos.

"He said, picking up some and trying them on. In the end, he got a simple black knit hat and a denim cap with a distinctive logo! After walking around the store a few times, he also got the vest track jacket mentioned earlier."

Ikeda: As I thought, this is still the cutest.

"And so, he decides to buy it."

Ikeda: I got some wonderful items~ This Winter, I'm going to use them to try out different coordinations!

"Ikeda-kun reported with a sparkling smile. It's been a long time since he went shopping, and he was very satisfied with the results!"

Ikeda: Episode 38 was the episode where one of the Royal Sentai members, Rita Kaniska, became an idol, however, the other Royal Sentai members were mixed in with the audience at the front row of the stage (laughs). It was my first time waving and cheering with a penlight, and I had alot of fun~ We wear disguises including fluffy hairpieces and sunglasses, so please be sure to look out for that!
