No idea. Well, yes. Probably because the story is not centered in just their friendship? Though I'd say they still get moments, like at the party after the Noroshi arc or when they were fighting together, back to back, a few chapters ago (while Sugishita was getting counseling from Nirei).

It also would be hard to keep showing big moments between two characters in a regular basis in a manga about fights. Specially one with a big regular cast. So instead he shows us little moments in their dynamic. And, more often than not, they spend time with more people than just them too. Like Nirei, or Kiryu and Tsugeura in a lesser amount.

Lastly, you have to have into account that we're just at chapter 171. A big arc just ended, then came a few chapters with low tension (beautiful shounens with their fluffy friendship chapters, allow me to appreciate their happiness in peaceful times) and now they went to hang out with their group of friends. And all that was just after a few arcs (Shishitoren, KEEL, Gravel, Noroshi). It may feel like a lot because of the passing of time, but it actually wasn't so much time since the manga started.

Nii-sensei seems to balance the pacing of the plot with the creation and development of dynamics between the characters, plus the fight scenes (because, again, manga about fights). So I don't really think stopped giving attention to the SuoSaku dynamic as much as he can't have the SuoSaku dynamic monopolize the pages.

In summary, screen time and, unfortunately for Suo, he has to share.

Uhm, if you miss them that much, I think there was a chapter not so long ago (maybe before or between the Noroshi arc) which has Suo teasing the hell out of Sakura for no reason at all. Sugishita was also there. Is the one in which he made that really funny mocking face.

Good taste, btw. If it's about pairings, I personally find KiryuSaku more of my liking (their first interaction was so shoujo coded, and I adore Kiryu in general) (Yes, I'm really happy for the oncoming arc. I wanna know, Kiryu, what's going onnnn. And see them interact, of course.). But SuoSaku is a second close.

Also, there's a really fun fic— it's ongoing and, as far as I know, not abandoned, though only has the first chapter at the moment— in which I think you would enjoy their interaction (https://archiveofourown.org/works/56613385/chapters/143896831 SPRING BREEZE ♡ SAKURA by encore_koscribbles). It's tagged as platonic SuoSaku, but I think the author's idea is hilarious and fantastic.

Then there also is this romantic SuoSaku— also ongoing, also with only a few chapters updated. No, I don't remember any completed suosaku fics right now— that will make you laugh (https://archiveofourown.org/works/59886880 Enchanted by Wyegi). Poor Suo, lol.

Update II: Many thanks to the people who pointed out that this outfit gives you a special frost attack when in cold temperature areas, it doesn't actually protect you from the elements. I'll be honest, I am purposely avoiding any guides or walkthroughs for my TotK playthrough (since I'm trying to replicate my BotW experience). When I found the Frostbite Shirt, I was just happy that I finally had a piece of clothing that I thought could protect me from dying of hypothermia (was chugging spicy elixirs like you wouldn't believe) so I didn't notice the attack bonus until a bunch of you pointed it out lol

I think i finally understand how the Distortion works. I mean, i don’t think it’s possible to ever fully understand it, and i don’t know the whole picture yet because i don’t know what Helen will be like, but i feel like i’ve just been granted a glimpse at the lovecraftian (as in ineffable) thing that is this being.

It’s not a person and a creature fighting inside one mind. There’s no Michael clawing himself to the surface to express his emotions and get his revenge.

Michael Shelley is dead. The Distortion became Michael. It sounds so simple, yet a least in my opinion it’s hard to fully understand.

I think what provides the best metaphor is a small thing the Distortion says after becoming Helen: "without a proper mind." The Distortion does not have its own mind. It’s only a what, but in order to really exist in this reality, it needs a who. It needs a body, but also a mind.

So if i understand this right, it’s like this: Michael Shelley is dead. His conciousness is not there anymore. And the Distortion got forced into that mind, an empty mind of a dead person. This doesn’t make it human, it’s still able to understand the impossible, it’s still the thing that was created to scare and kill. But in the mind it’s living in… the previous owner’s furniture is still there. It gets the dead person’s memories. It becomes Michael, in the sense that it has to be someone. Its existence got tied to being Michael, although Michael Shelley is dead.

When Michael got "emotional", that wasn’t Michael Shelley coming through. It was the Distortion grappling with the side effects of being someone - of living in a mind with all the memories and the human emotions that a human mind can’t fully turn off, even when the thing inhabiting it isn’t human at all.

The Distortion was Michael in the sense that it was thinking with Michael Shelley’s mind. When it became Helen, its consciousness, its being stayed the same, but it needed to adapt to this new mind. It could see clearer now, realizing that the windows of the previous house had been dirty, realizing that the wirings of the previous mind had driven it to do something that it actually didn’t want to do. The throat of the Spiral itself getting caught in the spiralling of its own, borrowed mind.

As their lips met for the last time, Bubba tasted copper and tears on his tongue. word count: 653

Bubba couldn't believe his eyes at first. The red that he caught in the corner of his peripheral vision must've been an optical illusion, a cruel joke that his senses decided to play on him. He gave the same excuse for the choked gasp that echoed from behind him.

But when he turned and saw Jeremiah with his hands over his abdomen, blood gushing out from a deep stab wound, Bubba felt his heart drop to his toes. A deep overwhelming nausea washed over him; his stomach churned, his head swooned, the world swayed from side to side, but none of that was important.

Bubba moved without thinking. Within a blink of an eye, his hands were stained with wine-red that seeped into every crevice of his fingernails and cuticles and palms and the back of his husband's neck was moved so that it sat atop his knee.

The Cube was long gone, hidden behind walls—symbols of its cowardice. A cry escaped from Bubba's lips, something so strained and animalistic and so painful.

"Oh god—no—"

Blood spilled from the spaces between Bubba's fingers. It was warm, but it didn't stop his fingers from trembling.

Bubba's jacket fought back as he struggled to take it off. Something trickled down his cheek. He couldn't tell if it was blood or tears.

The jacket finally came off and Bubba tied it around the wound with unsteady hands. The green fabric immediately bled crimson.

"Where's the medical area?"

Jeremiah shook his head. "It's no use."

"I ain't givin' up on you!" Those words came out as a strained sob. Bubba swallowed, but the bile stuck in his throat remained.

"Those damn Cubes—they've got a psychic link or whatever—" With every word he spoke, Jeremiah's voice weakened and his breathing grew more rough and uneven. "If I die, they'll think you're dead too."

"Don't you dare!"

Jeremiah smiled weakly as a thin stream of blood spilled from the corner of his mouth. "I wouldn't be able to live with myself if you die."

The jacket was barely stopping the blood. Bubba shook his head until it hurt as he pressed his hands back over the wound. "I ain't givin' up on you," he repeated.

"Live," Jeremiah said, his voice unable to go louder than barely above a whisper. His chest rose up and down, the tempo frequent and inconsistent. "Live, and go back to the farm. And don't you dare let those damn Cubes kill ya."

There was something in Jeremiah's eyes—melancholy, fear, but above all, determination. Bubba softened the hand that pressed against Jeremiah's side.

Bubba took a shaky breath. "I love you, 'Miah," was all he could manage.

Jeremiah chuckled. The sound faded away like a leaf being blown in the wind.

"I've always wanted you to call me that…"

A hand wrapped around his neck, and Bubba was pulled into a kiss. Bubba kissed back, knowing that this was the last time.

He wrapped his arm around his husband's back for the last time, deepened the kiss for the last time, brushed his thumb over Jeremiah's cheek for the last time. Jeremiah smiled against Bubba's lips for the last time, and Bubba smiled back for the last time.

The kiss left a lingering taste of copper and something else, something more brackish, on his tongue.

The hand around his neck fell onto the ground and Jeremiah's eyes glossed over. Bubba pulled away. The copper taste remained.

The rising and falling of Jeremiah's chest lulled. Bubba pulled Jeremiah's head to his chest and sobbed.

By some miracle, Bubba survived the war. The farm waited patiently for their return, but only he returned. Time more or less healed everything—at least, that was what Bubba told those around him.

The truth was, no matter how many times he brushed his teeth or how many pills he took, he couldn't get that damn copper taste out of his mouth.
