why Okarun is a real g

-he was bullied and had no friends and somehow came out of it without any exceptionally strong feelings of hatred or resentment towards his peers.

Trust me as someone who has been in that position (minus the bullying) it is SO easy to hate everyone. From what I’ve heard we learn very little abt this character’s life but I’d assume he might have at least had a good upbringing to turn out like this. I did not so that might be part of why I literally despised everyone and became a bit of a femcel for a while…

It’s so common for boys in shounen to be creeps and so seeing a male shounen protagonist who actually is decent towards women is really refreshing! Especially one from a show whose premise revolves around him losing his dick and balls! (The only other shounen I really like is chainsaw man which takes an incredibly nuanced approach to a perverted male protagonist, and I wouldn’t really call Denji perverted as much as he is horny, desperate, and a typical teenaged boy. He reminds me a little of my boyfriend when he was younger lol)

unrelated but even tho the “scenes” of creepiness in the show are kind of unnecessary (I think they’re there so turbo granny can come in clutch and save Momo from whatever is happening to her, since turbo granny’s whole schtick/initial redeeming quality is protecting girls from those kinds of threats. That and the series is batshit insane and needs ridiculous ways to get from point a to point b. I still see why people don’t like these scenes tho) it is kinda interesting to me that the most pervy fuck it I’m gonna use the real word RAPEY literal attempted sexual assault moments in the show seem to be used to make us dislike a character and view them as fucked up. (Allegedly they stop being used which thank God but I digress I’ve been talking abt them too long lmao)

the good guys in the series are like, actually pretty innocent. Aira looks at her dad’s porn to figure out how romance works, Momo and Okarun have this incredibly sweet and innocent romance, and don’t make it weird or creepy when they see eachother in a vulnerable position, Jiji is just a very close childhood friend of momo’s and while he might like her he seems to be pretty respectful and again, innocent. Have yet to meet the rest of the cast but I do hope to see this pattern of innocence continue.

Short fic about steviepop, Soda’s various inner turmoils, and Dallas Winston fucking with things. I’ll probably cross-post this to Ao3 but idk- it’s shorter than most of the fics I have up on there, only a bit over 1k words. So we’ll see.

This is a direct follow up to the fic abt the gang on a roadtrip I wrote last month, but you don’t r e a l l y need to have read that first- the point is they’re at a motel and Soda and Dally are awake while everyone else is asleep. Tw for period typical attitudes

Steve wasn’t supposed to leave Tulsa. That wasn’t the plan.

  Soda takes a swig of pop. It tastes funny, ‘cos it’s all mixed up with the smell of ol’ Dally’s cig and pool chlorine. 

  Dally hops the fence into the pool area, ignoring the Do Not Enter sign. Soda trails after him, wondering faintly why he is- but eh, he doesn't really care all that much. He’s nearly eighteen now, anyhow, so he can’t get Darry in trouble or threaten his guardianship or nothing. Ha, he’s kinda missed this. 

  He chances a glance upstairs at his and Steve’s room. Steve can’t be getting into trouble now though. Not if he wants to go to college with Evie…

  “D’ya think I shoulda stayed in school?” Soda asks, following Dally down the walkway around the pool. 

  Dally gives him a dull look, like seriously? You’re still talking to me?

  “I just mean, ‘cos, like, Steve and Evie did,” Soda presses on. “And now, y’know, they’re…leavin’.”

  Dally raises his eyebrows, amused. “You realize it don’t take a high school diploma to move, right?”

  “Huh?”

  “I mean, you can just…go with them- you know that, yeah?” Dally snorts.

  Soda frowns, a weird sick feeling bubbling up in his gut. “Yeah…I guess,” he says noncommittally. 

  The thing is, he can’t go with them.

  He’s gotta keep his job, and he’s gotta be there for Ponyboy and Darry. That’s what he does. Where will they be without him?! They’ll just fight, won’t they?

  He swishes the cola in his mouth, thinking about it. Just before he left on this trip they fought. Not badly, but Ponyboy was behind on a few assignments, wound up with a D in his algebra class on his report card. 

  Soda had walked out into the hall, duffle bag in hand, ready to meet Steve at the door, when he saw Darry sitting at the table and Ponyboy crossing his arms at the counter.

  Soda’s heart sank. Report cards were in, huh. 

  Darry hadn’t said anything, but you could see in his eyes that he wasn’t real thrilled.

  Defensively, Ponyboy had said “Well it ain’t like I’m failin’, okay?”

  Darry nodded, glancing at Soda. “Yeah…I s’ppose.”

  “I’m passing still,” Ponyboy had muttered.

  “Yeah. I know. Colleges…they just don’t much like Ds, that’s all,” Darry said, attempting to be delicate. 

  “Well you try bein’ a year ahead in school!” Ponyboy said then. “Ain’t any other high school sophomore who’s fourteen!” 

  Gently, Darry said “Do you think you oughta maybe…re-do the grade, then?”

  Soda cringed, hard. 

  Ponyboy’s face got real red. “Re-do the grade?!” he’d snapped, voice going high and squeaky. “For one D?! That’s ridiculous!”

  Darry scowled. “It’s your future! I ain’t sayin’ you gotta, just that maybe you could consider it!”

  “Oh you’re one to talk ‘bout the future, roofer-man,” Ponyboy muttered under his breath. Soda thanked the lord that Darry hadn’t caught it, and threw himself between the two.

  He’d calmed them down decent enough, but it was just a bandage on a bullet wound. As he drove away with Steve, he swore he could hear them starting to row again.

  Soda sighs and swallows his drink.

  “I’m serious, man,��� Dally says, glancing at him out of the corner of his ice-blue eye. “Ain’t nothin’ stoppin’ ya from followin’ your uh…” Dally smirks, pursing his lips. “...your buddy and his girl to Arizona.” He says buddy all funny-like, and Soda frowns.

  “Maybe there ain’t,” Soda concedes, just to end the conversation. “Maybe there ain’t.”

  “Hey, Curtis,” Dally says, an unreadable look coming onto his face. He tosses his empty soda bottle into the pool with a splash, and Soda would scold him for that, but he finds he’s frozen. He usually likes when Dally gets that hoodish look in his eyes, because it means things happen- but when they’re pointed at him they’re like spotlights. “I know what y’all do, you know,” Dally continues, corners of his lips tilting up.

  For a second, Soda almost thinks he heard him wrong. “Huh?” he breathes.

  “What, Evie don’t share her makeup-concealer how she shares her boy?” Dally says, voice too calm. Soda’s stomach twists violently, and he shoves his hands into his pockets to keep them from flying to his neck- if he fixes his collar, it’ll be a dead giveaway. 

  “What’re you on about?” Soda says, forcing his voice to stay even.

  Dally snorts, looking at Soda head-on. “Jesus, man, and here I thought yous was just playin’ dumb.”

  “Shut up, Dally,” Soda says, smiling a bit like it doesn’t matter. “You ain’t got any clue what you’re sayin’.”

  “Don’t I?” Dally says, leaning forward boldly.

  Soda resists the urge to lean away, and stands his ground. “You’re nuts, buddy,” he says, patting Dally’s shoulder. 

  Microscopically, Dally flinches away, and Soda’s heart drops into his shoes.

  “I ain’t…I ain’t queer, Dally,” Soda says softly, hand hovering away from Dally. 

  “Like hell you ain’t,” Dally scoffs, lunging forward. For a second Soda tenses, thinking Dally’s gonna punch him. But instead Dally seizes Soda’s collar, and peels it back. 

  He points at the little red marks Evie and Steve left on his neck and shoulders, and Soda feels his whole face go red.

  “See?” Dally says, grinning.

  “What are you saying?” Soda growls.

  “Whaddaya think I’m sayin’, Curtis? You think you and Steve are subtle?” Dally laughs. “You think it’s normal, sleepin’ on his shoulder, on his lap, in his bed?”

  Soda opens his mouth and closes it. No no no no-

  “You’re crazy, Winston,” Soda manages, backing away. “I got these back in Texas.”

  “Yeah, I know. Got ‘em from Randle.”

  “Got ‘em from some girl! You think you’re the only one who goes to clubs?” Soda demands.

  “Oh yeah, Johnny and I do, and so does Two-Bit, but you? If you ain’t Randle’s side piece then you’re still his dog, wantin’ to follow him to Arizona!”

  “As if you wouldn’t do the same for Johnny!”

  Dally falters then. “That’s- that’s different.”

  “Like hell it is,” Soda says, digging his heels in. “You and Johnny share a room, in all the motels, and back in Tulsa, too. Steve and I ain’t messin’ ‘round, and that’s real obvious ‘cos Two-Bit is always there and he’d tell ya if we were. But you and Johnny…”

  “Don’t you go talkin’ like that about me and Johnny, we ain’t like you, Curtis. I don’t give a damn what you and Randle do, but don’t you go implyin’ things about Johnny, man,” Dally hisses, lips curling back over his pointy animal-teeth.

  “Then don’t go sharin’ your freak daydreams about me and my best buddy,” Soda snaps back, and he tries to ignore the sickening churning in his guts. “About my best buddy and-” he tries not to wince- “-his girl.” 

  Because Soda doesn’t have a girl. Not when they’re not behind closed doors. Steve’s only Evie’s boy, and she’s only Steve’s girl, he reminds himself, hoping the conviction keeps Dally at bay. Maybe if he thinks it hard enough it’ll be true, just for right now. 

  Dally only glares at him, icy eyes hard. And Soda glares back.

  Unsurprisingly, Soda breaks the wordless stare-off first, and hops the pool fence to head back up to his room.

  “Hey Curtis,” Dally says to the back of his head, and Soda bites down the urge to spin around and sock him. “I really mean it- I don’t care what you and Randle do. I really don’t. Alls I’m sayin’ is to be careful, man. ‘Cos you know well as I do that some folks care. Folks a whole helluva lot more uh…keen-eyed than me.”

  Soda swallows, glancing back at Dally. His eyes have sorta softened, at least to the coolness of a rainstorm instead of ice chips.

  And, voice shaking more than he’d ever admit to, Soda says “I can’t use Evie’s cover-up stuff. She’s a whole lot darker than me.”

  Dally smiles, or smirks, or something, and Soda turns away, still dizzy with the weight of the secret. 

  He doesn’t have to ask to know Dally won’t tell anyone. He’s a real ass, but he’s always got his back where it counts. Soda almost feels bad for ever having doubted him.

What do you think about the Red pupils in alien stage? Because when I first see them I think it’s just an Ivan trait, but in a few shots, Till has them too. Specifically when it’s related to Ivan. I would think it’s stress because of the fact he was stressed when Luka was manipulating him, but there’s also the Metor shower scene where he’s the happiest we’ve seen him at. Also! Thoughts on the comic where Till says “Because of you Mizi won’t play with me anymore?” And Ivan says that it wasn’t Mizi playing with him it was him? Like, what do you think that comic could mean on both their relationship + how Till loves Mizi? Cuz I think it’s interesting that he’s in love with her because of her smile and her presence but mistakes Ivan for her

Red eyes are super interesting in IvanTill.

This is the first shot from R3 we get of baby Ivan, and his eyes naturally have the red dot in them. Usually they’re a darker color so his eyes look black most of the time.

So I disagree with the theory that the aliens experimented on Ivan’s eyes to turn them red. His eyes have always been red, you just don’t notice it unless you boost the saturation and contrast. Or have super strong eyes ig. HOWEVER.

Ivan’s eyes get redder when he feels strong emotions. This is the comic showing his final thoughts, here he is likely feeling jealous that Sua was able to be in a mutually requited love with Mizi. It’s almost like his entire world is turned upside down. What do you mean the girl who is so similar to me is able to find happiness? Why couldn’t I? Why is she so happy and I’m so miserable when we’re both the same? So we can associate bright red eyes with intense feelings. Just like how the color bright red can mean intense love but also extreme danger. Now let’s talk about when Till’s eyes are red.

The first time in canon is the infamous meteor shower scene. It’s one of the happiest times we see him. In this moment I think the red pupils represent the happiness and love he feels for Ivan. I’ve talked abt the red sky before but I’ll briefly say that this bright sky is a pivotal moment in both of their lives. It’s where their love was almost fully realized (in my delusional eyes) before being ripped to pieces. Remember red means love but it also means danger. So when Till’s eyes are red it means he’s feeling an intense emotion related to Ivan, bc Ivan naturally has red eyes. In this scene it’s probably love that he is feeling intensely.

Now let’s look at R6 Till, his eyes are red here too but it’s not out of happiness but of heartbreak. I wanted to talk abt this later so I’ll keep this short. But isn’t it strange that Till was so defeated after Mizi disappeared. She wasn’t even confirmed dead but he was already at his lowest. I think the real reason he stopped singing wasn’t just bc he was sad abt Mizi, but bc he didn’t want to win against Ivan. Losing his idol made him realize that the only person he has left is Ivan. It’s like a reality check for him. (Honestly if Mizi somehow won R5 I feel like he’d still throw the match but I’ll explain my delusions separately.) Anyways in this moment right before Ivan kisses him, he is probably shocked at seeing Ivan. Remember Till doesn’t realize that Ivan loves him, he probably attributes Ivan’s weirdness around him as something he does out of hate rather than him trying to get the attention of his crush. So seeing him also throw the mic away and stand so close to him was surprising but also comforting in a sense. At least the last face he sees will be Ivan.

Now onto R7, this is I think the brightest red we see in Till’s eyes. I think this is bc his world just ended hours ago (however long the time between rounds is idk rlly all I know is that R6 and R7 happened the same day.) All the ppl he grew up with died, he doesn’t know what happened to Mizi, and he’s up against the Ruler of the Stage. But here his eyes are red when Luka impersonates Ivan. Again his red eyes likely represent the deep heartbreak and sadness he feels about Ivan. After Ivan’s sacrifice and kiss Till has to re-contextualize everything Ivan has done. I think also it forced him to confront the red sky that haunted him (ie: missed chance at freedom, finding happiness with Ivan) there was a lot of red scenes and red lights during R7 that reinforces this idea.

Overall red eyes are Ivan’s signature, but it’s easy to miss bc it blends with the black of his eyes. Ivan also wears a lot of black you can barely see any red on him. But Till who cares a lot more abt Ivan than he’s willing to admit, notices the red in his eyes. So when Till’s eyes turn red it means what he’s feeling is connected is related to Ivan. We don’t see Till’s turn red when thinking abt Mizi.

There is one exception however.

It’s in R2. Now this could just be thematic, Till just killed an alien living in his guitar. HOWEVER let’s pretend it’s more than that. Red eyes represent Ivan bc he naturally has red pupils. BUT the color red represents Till. He’s got bright red pants, dark red gloves, blood red on his pants and he’s seen cherishing and holding red flowers.

Methinks Red is Till’s signature color bc Till likes the color of Ivan’s eyes. (And if you think abt it pink is just a lighter shade of red hehehe…)

To answer your question red eyes are an Ivan thing bc he was born with red eyes. But red eyes on Till means he’s looking at Ivan meaningfully, acknowledging his own feelings for Ivan it could be positive feelings or negative feelings. But considering that Till’s eyes turned red from being depressed over Ivan, I think Till has mostly positive feelings for Ivan.

Now part 2!

This comic is basically Till threatening (failing to threaten rlly I mean look at Ivan’s face XD) to punch Ivan in the bathroom bc he believes Ivan was somehow the reason Mizi wouldn’t play with him. You can find the translation on Twitter by @WhataFruit.

Ivan’s response was basically what the hell are you on Mizi never played with you in the first place. Then the small text is him saying I was the one who played with you.

On Till’s side the real reason Mizi doesn’t play with Till, is bc she thinks Till doesn’t like her. She likes how artistic he is, and thinks his piercings suit him. But she sees him awkward and uncomfortable around her and assumes it’s bc he doesn’t like her. She wants to be friends with Till but due to Till’s avoidant tendencies they’re not close.

He blames Ivan for this bc he doesn’t have anyone else to blame. He’s May not even be aware that he’s avoiding ppl like this. Ivan was just a jerk to him anyways so it’s easy to blame him if something he doesn’t like happens to him. This is the kid that steals his pencils it wouldn’t be too surprising if Ivan said something weird abt Till to Mizi.

Another thing is that he talks abt Ivan wanting revenge for hitting them when they were younger. This could be bc Till likely feels guilty abt hitting Ivan. When they grow older, yeah Till still gets pissed at Ivan, but he doesn’t hit him anymore. In fact he tries to ignore him like in the R6 flashback when Ivan pulls at his wound on his cheek. It’s like when you tell a little girl to stop reacting when a boy is mean to her bc he likes her (not that it ever stops the boy from being abusive but whatever). So I think this is how Till sees Ivan’s feelings towards him. He’s doing weird stuff cuz he’s mad at me/hates me for hitting him when we were younger. It could also be he feels guilty for throwing away his only chance at freedom with Ivan. Cuz it wasn’t just his freedom he gave up it was also Ivan’s freedom that was lost. It wasn’t Till’s responsibility or anything I’m not blaming him for Ivan’s choices. But as a result of Till’s actions both him and Ivan are trapped as pets again. Till blaming himself for Ivan coming back could be why he thinks Ivan only has negative feelings for him. And why he doesn’t attack Ivan after Ivan provoked him, he probably thinks he deserves Ivan tormenting him.

Now let’s talk abt Ivan’s response. He’s blunt as always with no tact when he says Mizi never played with you in the first place. But the smaller text is him saying I’m the one who plays with you.

From this the smaller text makes me think abt how Ivan is only truly honest when Till isn’t awake or looking at him.

In R6 Ivan is showing comfort and care to Till after he had been forced to sing for the aliens (idk if that scene has actual SA or if they just drugged him and hit him but regardless Till is suffering here). There is no way to misconstrue Ivan’s action as anything but care here. He unlocks Till’s collar and nuzzles his gently the way Till nuzzles flowers. He could’ve kissed Till here, could’ve unbuttoned his shirt or pinch his face etc. But the only thing he does is gently comfort Till.

I think this shows how Ivan wants to be kind and cherish Till. But something holds him back from doing it when Till can receive that care properly. It doesn’t matter how much you love give someone if the other person never receives it in a way they understand. It’s probably bc for Ivan who has been treated as a product/investment he doesn’t have a lot of self-worth. He’s so used to just fulfilling everyone’s expectations of him that he lost his individuality. Loving Till doesn’t fit inside everyone’s expectations of him, not even Till’s. So he only does what he wants when no one is aware of it, when he’s by himself. In the student interview he allots a lot of time for “private time” this could be bc that’s the only reprieve he gets from constantly acting like the perfect pet for the aliens. And with the low self worth and calling his feelings “shallow” he like Till also believes he’s not worthy of affection.

He acts like a jerk to Till partly out of immaturity, anger at Till for not leaving with him and bc if he acts like this he can maximize the time he spent with Till. If he acted like Mizi, gentle and kind, he assumes Till would run away like he does with Mizi. Remember Till grew up being taken away from his mom and being abused by Urak. As a defense mechanism he assumes that violence is normal and avoids the unknown kindness others have for him. As an avoidant person myself, when you’re not used to ppl being unconditional kind, it is VERY uncomfortable. Uncomfortable enough that we shy away from it. So that’s why Ivan fulfills Till’s expectation of him being a jerk when he’s awake. But when Till isn’t looking at him or when Ivan’s abt to die he shows pure love towards Till.

Look at the face, that’s the look of someone in love. And one of the few times we see him wearing a collar. It’s bright green when looking at Till, Ivan you have so much affection how can you call it shallow 🥲 How many ppl could give up their chance at freedom just for the person they love? (This is why I can’t get behind ppl who think Ivan would cage Till or trap him by his side. Ivan literally respected Till’s choice not to leave their hell and even stayed with him and loved him the entire time they were together ;-;)

Also abt the last part I’m unclear where exactly Till mistook Ivan for Mizi? From my understanding I see Till loving Mizi as a performance and I think Vivinos said Till saw Mizi as an idol. Like how most ppl love idols, we only love the fantasy version we come up with of them. Very rarely do we see the messy human side to them. And even tho we may obsess over them and feel intense love for our fav idol. Eventually we turn off the screen and go through with our day. That’s how I see Till loving Mizi.

I mean whenever Ivan is watching Till, Till is mostly drawing, practicing/composing music or just by himself. There’s not really a scene of Ivan watching Till look at Mizi. It could just be that bc it’s Ivan’s pov we only see Till and no one else. But we also know that Ivan has spent a lot of time with Till in the garden, he’s our only insight into what Till is actually like. So I think Till loves Mizi from afar bc he unconsciously doesn’t want to actually get to know her and ruin his image of her. Even after seeing her attack Luka in R5 he still hallucinates her as a gentle almost angelic figure.

I mean I think Till has always loved Ivan but that’s just bc I’m delusional lol.

Evan’s fingers moved deftly on the guitar, he lifted a hand, twirled the pick in his hand before resuming immediately, he didn’t take his eyes off Barty the entire song.

Evan was sat at the base of the sofa, scrolling through the comments on a video of their performance last night. He held the phone up to Barty on the sofa, who squinted before taking it and reading it out to the room.

“Skittlefiend57 says ‘omg Blarty and Evan! I’m so gone 4 them u guys’”

“Blarty?”

Regulus raised an eyebrow.

“We’ve been getting my name wrong all these years guys. Wow that’s a crazy thing to discover at 23.”

“Bad spelling aside, there’s way more. And it’s not all good stuff.”

Evan said and Barty looked back down at the comments. 

“Barty and Evan are queerbaiting, they act so gay but they’re not dating. It’s all clearly faked to get attention. Fucking pathetic. Why thank you peenisonapizza. Glad to see you know us personally and can therefore speak on our behalf.”

“Don’t know why they’re obsessed with accusing a band with two trans guys of queer baiting.”

Evan pinched his furrowed brow and shook his head in disbelief.

“They don’t even care about the fucking music, just us and whether we’re dating or not.”

Barty laid down on the sofa, dropping one arm around Evan and resting his chin on Evan’s shoulder.

“Hey cheer up Rosie. They care about the music. There’s a few assholes but that’s a given. If they weren’t talking about us acting gay they’d be talking about whether my tattoos are real or fake.”

“Or some conspiracy theory that Reggie’s not actually lactose intolerant.” 

Pandora chipped in.

“I’m not lactose intolerant!”

Regulus replied indignantly.

“Is that you talking or your obsession with chocolate?”

Dorcas rolled her eyes as she spoke. Regulus avoided her gaze as he mumbled out a half hearted response.

“Remus got me hooked on Tony’s chocolonely.”

While the rest of the group squabbled Evan leaned his head back against Barty’s shoulder, he pulled out his phone.

Evan breathed in and passed the phone to Barty.

“You think this is good?”

Barty read it over and nodded.

Evan huffed out a laugh and Barty patted his shoulder.

“Good on you Rosie. Now who wants to watch a movie?”

Evan clambered onto the sofa next to Barty who leaned against him immediately, head resting on his shoulder.

“Rosie.”

Barty whispered.

“Yeah Bee?”

“Give me your phone. Look we both know it will bother you all evening not reading those comments if you have your phone on you. Just- out of sight out of mind, I’ll give it back to you once the movie is over but you deserve to have an evening off.”

Barty’s eyes were wide, expression genuine as he spoke. Evan hesitated then reached in his pocket for his phone.

“Don’t spam it with photos alright?”

A smirk spread on Barty’s face quickly, eyes sparkling.

“I make no promises Ev.”

Evan rolled his eyes but handed the phone over. 

The movie was something Pandora had picked, something from the late 80s, a strange mix of fantasy, reality and meta theatre that Evan actually didn’t hate.

Still he drifted to sleep at some point watching it, the stress of the day had clearly gotten to him and something about the way the top of Barty’s head made for a great pillow probably didn’t help.

Either way he woke up to the feeling of Barty shaking him.

“Come on sleeping beauty, let’s get you to a real bed. Here’s your phone back.”

Evan rubbed his eyes and got up, stumbling to his room as thanked Barty in a half asleep murmur.

He got to his room and turned on his phone, wincing at the glaring brightness, turning it down quickly. He opened his photos app, just as he’d suspected his camera roll was filled with new photos.

He began to scroll through them. There was one of his friends, all waving at the camera. A zoomed in shot of Inigo Montoya‘s face on the TV screen from a funny angle. Himself, looking dumb, sleeping with his mouth slightly open. He scrolled to the next picture and stopped. Barty with that cheeky grin of his, curled up against Evan, flipping off the camera. Eyes twinkling in that way that always made Evan feel a little warmer, a little brighter. He fell asleep again dreaming of a body pressed against his in a hug, the hum of a movie no longer playing, soft hair tickling his face and mischief painted in big brown eyes.

frankly it’s kind of crazy that bottom surgery for trans men is actively stigmatized in a way that no other trans surgery (from my perspective) quite seems to be??

like, yes there are gonna be people being gross about any trans surgery. but you straight up cannot openly talk about bottom surgery in any kind of positive light as a trans man without people coming out of the woodwork to talk about how it’s gross, it’s functionless, it’s not cis passing, it’s useless, it’s unnecessary, tdicks are real dicks so why would you even want that, etc etc etc. a lot of the time people will phrase this as “oh you do what you want :) but *I* could *NEVER*…” as if that isn’t still a nasty fucking sentiment to have about somebody else’s choices surrounding their body.

like one, it’s incredibly obvious none of these people have done any research in the first place. spend an hour on transbucket or on phallo blogs or the subreddit or talking to the actual real human people who have had phalloplasties(/meta but I’m mostly talking abt phallo here) and you’ll notice that 1) shitloads of them are cis passing, 2) there can be EXTREME differences in appearance between early surgical stages/recent surgeries and late stage/fully healed results, 3) there are probably dozens more options and combinations than you are imagining for virtually any reasonable surgical outcome you would want, with like, two or three exceptions (non assisted erections/having foreskin/ejaculating, but even those have asterisks.)

and I realize that in some circles “be nice about phallo” is beating a dead horse, but that is VERY much not the case in the wider trans community, AND outside of trans spaces.

posts about phallo in general ftm spaces (r/ftm, etc) get overwhelmed with unsolicited “oh *i* wouldn’t get phallo but i’m happy for you op” at absolute best, and actively admonished at worst. trans men— YOUNG trans guys, frequently— will say the most disgusting shit about other people’s bodies and other people will rally around them to reassure them they’re valid as if they didn’t just heavily imply if not outright claim that people with phallo won’t pass as male/don’t have “functional” anatomy/are unfuckable/are disfigured/etc etc. like hey! you’ve looped back around to being transphobic! you are indistinguishable from a conservative!

and this shit has made its way back to cis people! i’ve had well meaning cis friends probe me about whether I’d “ever” want bottom surgery and spout weird (i assume from tiktok or some shit) talking points about how bottom surgery isn’t “advanced enough” yet. (hello, real flesh-and-blood penis and balls with a dope ass pump insert that can give me an insta erection at any point sounds pretty advanced to me!)

this isn’t a terminally online thing either. i have had irl people telling me this shit. i have had TWO partners discourage me from seeking bottom surgery, one of whom was literally a trans man. real in-person friends I sincerely care about have barely hidden their judgement about me needing bottom surgery because of this stupid shit.

at some stage, “it’s ok & valid if you don’t get phallo” became “wanting phallo is gross and unnecessary and uh. idk. toxic masculinity?” like… what? the m in ftm means male. i’m not saying it’s at all necessary or a requirement to get bottom surgery to be male. but it’s fucking crazy that trans men are being discouraged from certain elements of surgical transition, frequently *by other trans people*.

(getting off on a tangent, but it’s a really concerning trend in the trans community in general that “you’re valid if you don’t do x” has morphed into judgement against people who DO need x to the point of discouraging them from actually pursuing things they need.)

anyway, young trans people especially, I implore you to do *actual* research. stumbling on a photo of a phallo dick you didn’t like (that was in all likelihood stage 1 and immediately post op) doesn’t count. clicking through a couple pictures of meta results and deciding it’s icky doesn’t count. reading fear mongering posts or taking other random equally uneducated trans people’s word for it doesn’t count. there is an abundance of literature and surgical resources and photo albums and blog posts and everything under the sun about phallo and other surgeries. if it’s not for you? great! not everything is. that usually is a cue to not speak over people who it IS for with any degree of authority unless you have a great damn reason.

it’s really sad and really tiring to see people absolutely shocked when they stumble on a result they find impressive or hear about a relatively common combination of procedures they didn’t know existed. like I do understand and to a degree sympathize with this stuff not being talked about super openly (partially for the aforementioned reasons of phallo being seen as shameful). and i’m not saying it’s like, a moral failing or whatever to not have heard of something. but I promise you, the information really is out there, and you will have to sift through some of this anti phallo shit first, but it isn’t particularly hard to find at all.

I wanted to start writing on here because a lot of the writing that I read on here was really inspiring! But then some of yall were just….😭 a lot of you guys (specifically white writers) never actually make your stories for everyone and act like the only people who exist are women with pale skin enough to blush and hair straight and long enough to rake behind their ear. And don’t get me started on the over use of the drug dealer x black reader trope. I think it’s so problematic why is that the only prompt that’s popular in the black fanfic community? Like damn.

for some reason speaking about how you’re against stories romantizing rape is “controversial” and “dramatic” but talking about how you watched a porn video that mimicked someone getting raped is something that’s relatable and socially acceptable? Idk abt that. Also the FULLY grown (I mean like literally pushing 30’s 40’s 50’s) authors that get incredibly defensive whenever someone even alludes to the fact that it’s unusual for a grown woman to be writing about characters that are minors or even bringing up the fact that the “minors dni” tags when the character they’re writing smut about is a minor don’t really make sense. (I’ll go more into this if someone asks). A lot of writers treat sexual assault as something that can pass as a kink and i think it’s harmful in many different ways. Now, I’m fully aware of the spectrum that non-con is but I’m talking about the more extreme side. the reason why these stories that go in depth about raping a character or a character performing acts of sexual assault are harmful because I feel like it desensitizes the readers and causes a shift in their moral compass. For example, if a man constantly watches porn of 2 🌽⭐️ acting like one of them is being raped, over time he’s going to start thinking that stuff is normal and might become a potential danger. It’s the same with the constant consumption of smut stories with a recurring theme of rape and or abuse. I already know people are going to bring up the fact that it’s not real and it’s just a story and yes you’re correct, it isn’t real, but SA and abuse are.

Before I end this I just wanna say don’t come commenting mad aggressive because you disagree with me. Like I said, before getting defensive, think about what you’re defending. Okay right off the bat— I’m not loving this rando potentially being JJs real dad. If they wanted to do this storyline I feel like it would’ve been way more fucked up if it were Luke manipulating him/maybe telling the truth about him being a kook. And to make it hurt more he could’ve played into JJs obvious guilt and made him an accomplice in this by telling him about an “inheritance”. We see how loyal JJ is to any family he forges so it would’ve been a cool thing to see how far he’s willing to go. Love to see the Pogues getting together and spreading the word abt this bullshit zoning. Super important to mobilize their community for this, and it’ll get them the pay off they want— more voices and support = less the “officials” can do whatever the fuck they want shrouded behind laws that protect them. Love how Kie and Pope’s parents sat with them; but at the same time it breaks my heart to see this— how distant they are from them. At least there’s some effort being put now.

Anyway that riot was necessary. Also JJ is so goneeee, the way the camera keeps lingering on him and his relationship with everyone is shown 😬 It’s giving season 3 of the OC when that happened. But maybe it’s a misdirect 🤞 everyone helping JJ get away was so :’) <3 Anyway Rudy’s acting was amazing here! He’s such a full body actor, always using up the space he’s in— super compelling to watch!

Welcome back JJ Maybank but also, it’s so heartbreaking to see him deal with this identity crisis that he might be a full kook when being a pogue is all he’s ever had. Idk I think he needs to pick up meditation or smth his mind is a wicked place for him to be in 24/7. He’s so hard on himself. Doesn’t help that he’s villainized by everyone and if they’re not making him the bad guy, they’re pitying him.

If he actually dies this season I’m gonna be pissed actually. Like this is no way to go 😭 I’m gonna be even more pissed off at Rudy for not being able to handle a fan-serviced ship to do this to JJ. If he’s alive and well by the end of the season I’m gonna be annoyed that I spent so much time stressing out.

Rafe is so smart but he’s gotten so bad at trusting his instincts now— I think he’s too nervous about trusting any part of himself that gets a little too crazy after his s1&2 arc. Maybe he’s taken up meditation.

He’s such a vengeful person, no way he’s gonna screw him over and get away with it. Ugh love this bc it’s really setting up the Pogues + Rafe arc I know is coming. Foaming at the mouth for it. They need someone like him in their group to be the #realist and play bad cop bc they’re all WAYYY too loosey goosey. The pogues have a pocket full of dreams while Rafe’s got a pocket full of cash.

Also where tf is Barry?! Is he not a part of this season at all? I swear to god I feel his absence so bad it’s giving me war flashbacks to watching succession and lighting a weekly candle to see stewy on my screen :’( maybe it’s just the silver spoons story in me and I want to see more of them being crafty little cockroaches

TLDR; This got away from me and became more of a JJ review than a riara review, sorry! I hope this crumb of riara wasn’t what everyone was going crazy for!! If it is, I’m going to keep thinking about how she’s lowkey encouraging Sarah to reunite with Rafe (kinda just for money) but still, a win is a win. She wouldn’t send Sarah to see Rafe if she didn’t think he was a safe person to be around. That says more to me than the little knife scene earlier hehe. She acts like she’s terrified but then tells her best friend btw your brother came around, yeah the one we all hate and I pulled a knife on him you should go see him to check if he can help us out. Careful Kie :) you’re getting soft for Rafe

WTF. also I don’t think Sirius did it (the thing with Dearborn) but again, he’s an extremely unreliable narrator so who tf actually knows. idk tho. can I say I’m neutral unless it’s confirmed that he did or didn’t do it? what do u think? wolfstar is so problematic and low key toxic but DHSHJS I LOVE RHEM SM. GAH. also the paranoia in this chapter with Sirius suspecting Remus as the spy… WHY. WHYWHYWHYWHYWHYWHY??!!!!!? canon compliant fics will be the death of me I swear. they’re like a drug you can’t get enough of with the full knowledge that it’s not that good for you. anywho. also Sirius is like ‘I wouldn’t settle down not because you don’t deserve it but because I don’t’ and I find that heartbreaking. :(( Sirius you are loved.
