@poppy5991 tagged me, so I guess these are mine.
RULES: make a new post with the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them, and then post a little snippet or tell them something about it! and then tag as many people as you have WIPs.

I have kind of a niche Garashir fic idea I want to write but I’ve never posted anything publicly before, so I am nervous. But I can’t seem to get over the idea? You’re one of my favorite fic writers, any advice? 💕🥺
Ooooh, you gotta try to write it!!! I always love to indulge my new ideas that are driving me insane as soon as I can hehe (because part of writing often has to be done after the initial idea no longer excites you quite the same way).
I like that you said it’s a niche idea, too! I do enjoy most of the common fanon tropes and worldbuilding, but it’s always so refreshing when people add something brand new to the Garashir body of literature. And the nicher and stranger the better, in my opinion!! One thing about writing something niche is that maybe it won’t get the same amount of attention as quickly as something that has broader appeal, HOWEVER... I can tell you from experience that when your niche stuff does find its audience (which may take patience and persistence) that audience will likely go absolutely WILD for it. And I always find that very rewarding <3
Is the reason you haven't started yet because you don't quite know how to start? If that's the case, I would recommend writing an outline first. I even sometimes will outline really short oneshots lol, not because I think I really need to, but because that way i at least have a good record of my idea and ALSO because sometimes I can trick myself into just starting to write by taking notes on in outline format until I get to the part I'm REALLY excited about, at which point I realize I'm just writing full sentences instead of notes and I just let it flow from there and go back to fix the beginning later. XD You could also just try to summarize the plot for a friend, that often reveals to me where any structural issues are tripping me up, and identifies what I need to think about more before I set words down on the page.
Idk if you haven't written before or if you just haven't posted any of it, but I want you to know that a few years ago, when I was easing myself back into writing, I worked on writing like 3 or 4 different garashir fic ideas privately before I actually figured out which idea I wanted to write all the way to the end and actually post. Most of those first wips never got posted (and my wip graveyard is still massive and always growing lol) and that's for the best bc I either got bored of the idea or could not yet achieve the story in the way I wanted to. Which is NOT to tell you that this is inevitable or that you should let your inner editor shut you down, but I just want you to know that it's perfectly okay and normal to, like, have to noodle around a bit before you've written something you're happy with.
Speaking of your inner editor, you gotta tune them out while writing a first draft. Don't even worry if the sentence makes sense, just get the words out, and then get the next words out, and then the next... If there is something stopping you from writing the next sentence (a name you need to make up, or something you need to research, or uncertainty about what a character would be doing, or even if you are just blanking on a word) and you are trying to maintain a flow of writing, then write a note for yourself (e.g, "[insert title of a Cardassian novel here]" or "[Julian makes some kind of expression. Surprise? Anger? idk]" or "[synonym for sinister, bc I've used sinister three times this fic already]") and then MOVE ON. You can go back in and fill in those blanks later.
Also, I really really really really like the writing advice of thinking of your first draft as your worst draft or stupidest draft. It's so true and it helps take the pressure off. One related amazing thing about writing star trek fanfic is that if ever you begin to doubt yourself, you can just fondly think about a beloved episode of Star Trek where something very silly or buckwild happens in a very contrived way, and then remind yourself that people LOVE that episode anyway. This is a genuine way that I have reminded myself not to be so harsh on my own writing lmao.
I really working with beta readers, but I know that's not something everyone enjoys and it's def not required. Still, a beta reader can give feedback on your writing to make it clearer, and they'll likely become invested in your fic and will cheer you on, and if it’s longer than a oneshot you can have someone to talk it through with during the writing process. But it might be hard to find someone you work well with and everyone’s beta reading style is a lil different, so I recommend always being very clear about what kind of feedback you want from them (grammar/typos, plot structure, clarity, brainstorming ideas for how to fix this plothole, does this one specific line of dialogue work, etc! whatever aspects you are uncertain about and want help with for that specific fic). And you should know that it’s okay to not take someone's recommendations too, it’s ultimately your fic, so anyone giving you feedback should just be trying to help you achieve your own vision. Still, even in those cases where you don't go along exactly with their idea for what to change, knowing what parts confused them can help you figure out how to get your vision across more clearly.
If you think concrit might actually be demotivational and intimidating (totally get that, back in high school I actually solicited concrit on my fics publicly, as was the custom back then, and received some critiques from some truly well-meaning friends, and the experience STILL rattled me so bad that it turned me off writing for awhile), or if the process of finding someone to beta read sounds overwhelming, I’d recommend that you instead just find a trusted friend who is willing to read over the completed draft, with the understanding that they must simply give you a sanity check and then tell you yep that’s good! Cannot stress enough the power of encouragement and support and having someone hype you up. ^_^
If you are too nervous to post it under your own name, you can post it to the Anonymous collection on ao3. This is a reversible process, so if you want to reattach your username to your fic later then you can!
Anyway, feel free to send follow up questions about any of this or let me know if there's an aspect of writing I didn't mention that is what you're actually stuck on. I hope this helps and good luck and HAVE FUN! Have fun is actually the most important writing advice haha.
(P.S., anon, if you want me to beta read a draft of a oneshot or at least look over a chapter or two if it's multichapter, I am down to do so, just DM me. If not that's fine too, I'm just so so flattered that you reached out to me and I want to encourage you in any way I can! <3)

Writeblr Interview
Rules: answer the questions
Thanks @kaylinalexanderbooks for the tag!
Short stories, novels or poems?
I like both short stories and novels for different reasons. Short stories make it easier to finish, but I like fleshing out novels a bit more. I’m not much of a poetry guy - I tried it in high school but I’m a bit too literal-minded to be any good at it
What genre do you prefer reading?
Fantasy primarily but also sci-fi
What genre do you prefer writing?
Same as the above :)
Are you a planner or a write-as-i-go kind of person?
I’m kind of in the middle. I like to have a general plan and an idea of the scene I’m writing but I don’t plan too many specific details, and the outline is always flexible
What music do you listen to while writing the story?
I don’t listen to music while writing, I find it distracting
Fav books/movies
Oh boy this is going to be a list. In no particular order (and sticking only to books and movies because including other media would take years lol):
Lord of the Rings
Star Trek IV
Agents of Artifice
Grishaverse, especially Six of Crows duology
The Cosmere, especially Warbreaker and Mistborn (I haven’t read Stormlight or the latest Mistborn so please no spoilers :))
Any Current WIPs?
Still working on Seven Station Chronicles and the Pirates’ Roost. One step at a time :)
If someone were to make a cartoon out of you, what would your standard outfit be?
Probably a white t-shirt, weird patterned pants, and black sneakers
Create a character description of yourself.
I don’t like describing myself so I’m going to pass on this one. I just can’t do it without it feeling weird
Do you like incorporating people you actually know into your writing?
Nope. I’ll base aspects of characters on people I know, but I don’t try to base characters 1-to-1
Are you kill-happy with the characters?
Definitely not. I hate killing characters I like. Villains are 100% on the table though :)
Coffee or Tea while writing?
I don’t drink either. I like water :)
Slow or Fast writer?
In terms of actually writing a scene, pretty fast. In terms of finding time to sit down and write, pretty slow, unfortunately
Where/who/what do you find inspiration from?
My gf is probably my biggest inspiration. She always has so many good ideas. Other than her, media I like and observing the world around me
If you were put into a fantasy world, what would you be?
I think I’d be like… a classic library wizard. Idk why I think it would suit me
Fave book cliche?
Plot forcing characters to confront their traumatic backstories. It’s so good
Least fave book cliche?
Found family breaks up. Just let them stay together please authors I’m begging you
Fave scenes to write?
Hurt/comfort scenes. Either of those are good :)
Most productive time of day for writing?
Late afternoon/early evening. I’m a night owl so that’s when I’m most awake
Reason for writing?
I have so much in my brain, I need to get it out somehow. I’d implode otherwise :)
This was a fun little game! @wyked-ao3 @somethingclevermahogony @moltenwrites want to play? Blanks are below the cut
Short stories, novels or poems? What genre do you prefer reading? What genre do you prefer writing? Are you a planner or a write-as-i-go kind of person? What music do you listen to while writing the story? Fav books/movies Any Current WIPs? If someone were to make a cartoon out of you, what would your standard outfit be? Create a character description of yourself. Do you like incorporating people you actually know into your writing? Are you kill-happy with the characters? Coffee or Tea while writing? Slow or Fast writer? Where/who/what do you find inspiration from? If you were put into a fantasy world, what would you be? Fave book cliche? Least fave book cliche? Fave scenes to write? Most productive time of day for writing? Reason for writing?

1. How many works do you have on AO3? 108
2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 402,230

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Platonic Procreation, Security Questions, Eden, Mother Knows Best, The MSR Files

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? i don't usually do angsty endings but i think that would have to be my rain king ivf fic, Driftwood Lullaby
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? you're pretty much guaranteed to get a happy ending with most of my fics lol but some contenders i wanna highlight are Aqua Vitae, Defining Parameters, Sweet Kisses, Where A Million Stars Catch Fire, Though the Heavens Fall, The Wrong Scully, Coda, and Blood and Water
8. Do you get hate on fics? i got one hate comment on my most popular fic (lmao) and a couple of nitpicky comments on other fics that didn't quite rise to the level of hate
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? no never lol

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? i have two: an AU that i was steadily chipping away at until my building burned down in february and i've opened the google doc maybe twice since then lol, and a multi chapter that's been sitting for literal years with every chapter either complete, partially complete, or outlined, but i just can't make myself work on it lmao
16. What are your writing strengths? dialogue i think, i spend a lot of time thinking about fictional characters so their voices are always in my head lol
17. What are your writing weaknesses? i'm so jealous of people who can write multiple multi chapter epics and i'd love to write more elaborate and complicated multi chapter fics but i just don't have the time or energy to invest in fully fleshing them out😔
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? i love it when it adds to the realism of the setting
19. First fandom you wrote for? lord of the rings
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? hmm idk if i can pick just one favorite so i'm gonna drop a few that i haven't already linked: A Most Owlish Conundrum, Beyond Antares, Light in Dark Places, The Scully Dimension, Scientific Proof, Faith, Hope, and Love, When Toads Fly, Cucumber Time
tagging the friends i already tagged in question 13 and anyone else who hasn't already been tagged bc i'm sure i'm late to the party lol

Twenty Fanfic Writer Questions
Tagged by @lowkeyed1 - thank you and sorry it took me so long to do it!
Tagging @bereft-of-frogs, @rosieposiepuddingnpie, and @nostalgia-tblr
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
An even 150!
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
2,230,050
3. What fandoms do you write for?
At this point my fanfiction output is pretty sparse, but in the last two years, I've written primarily MCU. I've also written for Captive Prince, Six of Crows, The Daevabad Trilogy, The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue, Some Desperate Glory, and The Watchmaker of Filigree Street. Over the years I've written in tons of fandoms.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
The Real Asgardians of the Galaxy (MCU, Loki & Thor)
The General Mess and Imprecision of Feeling (MCU, Loki/Stephen Strange)
Sleight of Hand (MCU, Loki & Stephen Strange)
You Come to Me Wild and Wired (MCU, unrelated ficlets, Loki/Stephen Strange)
They Change Their Sky, Not Their Soul, Who Rush Across the Sea (MCU, Loki & Thor)
The first three are all part of my 10 fic Loki series, it's not going to matter if we fall down twice.
5. Do you respond to comments?
Goddddd I've become so bad at it. I used to respond to every single one. One of my projects/goals is to go back and respond to people, but of course, my AO3 inbox is totally overwhelming at this point, and every time I see the number of comments I haven't responded to, I become paralyzed. I need to man up and just start chipping away.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Do No Harm (MCU, Loki/Stephen Strange) and Anamnesis (Weyoun, Star Trek: Deep Space 9) are probably tied on this one.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I primarily write happy endings so...most of them, haha. But I guess The General Mess and Imprecision of Feeling, since it's the HEA at the end of 10 fics. It's a seriously hard-won HEA haha.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I have! I've been called a pedo on some Wreck-It Ralph fic (that was my introduction to purity culture, btw). Idk if I'd call this hate, but I once had a reader get pretty upset that an OFC in A Full and Factual Account of Asgard didn't turn out to be a love interest for Loki.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Sure do! Honestly writing smut might be my favorite thing to write, haha. Whenever I get to a Big Sex Scene in my original stuff, I sigh in relief that I'm finally going to have an easy writing night. I've written m/f and m/m, but I have way more m/m, and an occasional m/m/m. It's mostly sappy, vanilla, OTP stuff, but I love me some dub and noncon, so there are a few of those amidst the gooey soulmate smut.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Not really, though I did in my youth. Honestly they're...all kind of crazy. When I was in my early teens I wrote a 4 fic series that was a crossover between The Enchanted Forest Chronicles (the books by Patricia C Wrede), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (the Disney movie), and Newsies (the movie). It had time travel. And dragons, obviously. I also at one point was writing a crossover between Newsies (yes, I had a Newsies phase) and Doctor Mordrid, an obscure fantasy B-movie from the 90s starring Jeffrey Combs. Fun fact! It was actually supposed to be Dr. Strange, but they lost the rights before they made the movie.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yep. It was a Harry Potter fic. I threatened legal action (lol) and they took it down.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
People have definitely asked me if they can translate my fics, so I think so!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yeah, I had a friend I wrote a Loki & Thor fic with. I also used to collab on fics with my sister when we were kids.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
I guess it's gotta be Loki/Stephen Strange.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have a DS9 fic about Eris, a Vorta who was only in one episode, where she's an agent who's infiltrated a rebel Vorta/Jem'Hadar cell. I LOVE that fic, but I just...don't see myself ever finishing it. Maybe someday I'll file the serial numbers off and turn it into an original work. It probably wouldn't be that hard because it's set hundreds of years before DS9 takes place, and I did a lot of original worldbuilding.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue, character, romance, sexual tension, pretty polished first drafts. I don't know if I'd consider it a strength yet, but I feel like I've really improved my pacing over the past year.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Probably visual scene setting, haha. I'm pretty thin on describing what the physical location LOOKS like. I'm better at describing sounds and smells, because honestly that's what sticks with me personally from a place, not how it looks.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I've definitely done it. I took many years of Spanish so I'm pretty confident that when I write in Spanish, it makes sense. I can tell when google translate is wrong, haha. One of my novels (coming out next year!) has some Afrikaans, and a South African sensitivity reader didn't say any of it was wrong. Though that reminds me, I really should message my friend/former safari guide to see if she has any complaints about the Afrikaans in it, haha.
IMO when you write dialogue in another language in a fic, you have to assume the reader doesn't speak that language, so you need to let them know what that dialogue says through context. I read a book recently where there was quite a bit of Quebecois French, and there were end notes with the translation, and...eh, it was a pain to flip back and forth to the end of the book.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
The first time I sat down with the intention of writing a story with a beginning, middle, and end (I didn't finish it), it was an Enchanted Forest Chronicles fic. This was before I'd ever heard of the internet, so I didn't even know that what I was doing was called fanfiction.
Though, my mom made me a scrapbook of a bunch of childhood stuff for my 40th birthday, and it included what I can only call a Lion King AU where the characters from The Lion King go to Camp Snoopy in the Mall of America. So idk, maybe that.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
I think in some ways Anamnesis is the most ambitious single fic I've ever written, in that it's a difficult story. But I probably have to give the nod to it's not going to matter if we fall down twice. I'm totally cheating because it's a series, but I'm going to be really proud of it for my whole life so I'm going to take every opportunity to plug it, haha.
Thank you again for the tag!

list of wips/things to post
Enterprise art and fic based on a @glitter-and-metal story.
I haven't written any fic since working on this, prose is just not at all happening. I'm sure it'll take a while longer but yaaalll these two characters together, istg. 😍
DS9 art and poem inspired by an as-yet-undisclosed hurt no comfort fic. Just need to get the words on the art. (And of course everything uploaded and tagged and htmled, ugh.)
DS9 art of Odo based on a fic, maybe. I'm going to have to revisit what I did and see if I like it.
Two arts for the "Jpop" group XG. At least I think it was two. Those ladies are amazing. Their MVs are visually stunning. Cocona's buzz cut. Everything.
One art of Plastique Tiara, also to revisit. Speaking of stunning. I don't think my art did her justice so idk about posting. 😅
Star Trek fic based on er. Stuff. Me. This one isn't being written really but doing anything with it is more for coping, not posting. I just shouldn't forget about it.
More Enterprise stuff. I have art for Drown Malcolm month. Which was not, if I remember correctly, December? I don't understand the passage of time. *guestures vaguely* And I think I'm not forgetting anything? I feel like there was at least one more ENT that I didn't post, done prior to Drown Malcolm month...
One or two arts of Good Omens which idk if I'm going to post because of That Whole N Thing but I've got a nice femCrowley...
And various stuff I've already posted that were wips but they might be abandoned? 🤷 A Good Omens fic that I don't remember where it was going and a fic in a fandom I don't do anymore.
Oh and I may have done another poem or something somewhere. Maybe I should get my phone more organized? 😮

Ao3 20 Questions
thank you @kagedbird for the tag!! <3<3 i will tag some friends @daedrabait @miraakswhore @somethingscarlet13 @queerbashir if u wanna participate <3
How many works do you currently have on ao3? Currently 25. holy shit, i thought it was more than that lol
What's your total ao3 word count? 98,336. Used to be like 200k before i cleaned out some old works i didn't care for anymore.
What fandoms do you write for? Skyrim and Star Trek TOS & AOS
What are your top five fics by kudos? Sorry Lass, Make Me Feel Mortal, Don't Shut Me Out, Fascinating, and Destroy Rebuild
Do you respond to comments? Sometimes! Honestly it depends on whether or not i'm online and see them. if i don't respond right away it feels rude to respond weeks after the fact, but for repeat commenters or usernames i recognize i try to!
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Idk i used to like to emotionally beat up Jim a lot, so probably one of the short stories where i explore all his traumas
What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Probably Sorry, Lass. I originally wrote it in 2015 and i'm fairly certain it ends with a mushy marriage scene.
Do you get hate on fics? Surprisingly, no. I think i got a few rude comments back when i first started, but honestly everyone's been too kind to me.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Hell yeah brother that's what i do!! I love angsty, emotionally charged smut. my personal favorite to write is angry, hatefuck type of stuff. or when they're using it to avoid talking about feelings.
Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? Not that i've ever posted lmao. I don't usually post non canon compliant fics for whatever fandom i'm working in.
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Kinda. a few years ago someone let me know that my work had been reposted to a fic site i don't use and one quick message got them to take it down. Also, i once posted a fic as a one off, forgot that i'd done that, and used the same scene much later in a larger story - and some nice commenter on the original let me know that someone had stolen my idea lmao
Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope, never had anyone request that and don't want to do so incorrectly.
Have you ever cowritten a fic? Kind of? an old friend and i used to write separate chapters of our self insert marvel fics and mush them together into one story lol. never posted it anywhere, it was just shared emails and google docs.
What's your all time favorite ship? God, that's hard. probably McKirk. as i've gotten older and unlearned all the internal shame about self inserts it's gotten easier to do a self insert story instead of an established pair.
What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Every few weeks i pluck away at my regency au Miraak fic. i don't think i'll ever actually finish it because it's just so big in my head it's hard to get on paper, but i hope i do someday.
What are your writing strengths? I'm very comfortable writing sex scenes. I think that often when the author is uncomfortable about writing explicit sex the reader can really feel it in the story and i put in a lot of work to get over those mental hurdles. i've been told i'm good at characterization, which is awesome! i love getting in a character's head!
What are your writing weaknesses? Very often i find myself bogged down with the need to describe every little scene. it's a major reason i haven't posted a longfic in a while - i want to write these big stories but find myself getting lost in the little details. i also have a terrible habit of editing myself while i'm writing, which just gets me stuck in an unproductive loop.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? Since i'm only fluent in English, this isn't something i am confident in. i've written in a few fictional languages for fics before but would probably reach out or suggest another author if a reader wanted something that heavily involved this.
First fandom you wrote for? Twilight babey!!! self insert oc to smooch Edward Cullen when i was a little middle schooler!!! i didn't know what fanfiction was but i knew i had a big ol crush on him.
Favorite fic you've written? not to be cringe on main, but most of my favorites are things that never got published. they're the little things still hanging out in my google docs that i go back to over and over. i rewrote all of star trek into darkness word for word just to make bones and jim kiss, i made a self insert just to smooch skurge after hyperfixating on thor ragnarok, and the weird time a few months ago where i wrote like 40k words of a cowboy romance. i read them often and wish that i'd written more on many of them but i do not read my published works.
thanks to anyone who read my rambling lmao. love you all sososo much, thank you for reading my silly little stories and caring about them. <3<3<3

20 questions for fic writers
Tagged by @kanonavi , thank you!!
~~
1. How many fics do you have on AO3?
Five on main, one and a half on the side lol
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
Main: 60,314
Side: 5,776
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Basically just chrono trigger atm. Written for legend of Zelda and Castlevania in the past, but they're dormant/hiatus until I have time and insp again (and a one-word fic for NBC Hannibal lol)
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Well. I only got five lol. The one with the most is my hylink one soooo. Niche of niche
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes!! I try to respond to all of them, especially if someone's taken the time to write a detailed comment for me. I really appreciate it, and have fond memories of making friends with some of my fave authors because I was a regular commenter!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Haven't finished any lol. Unless you count the one shot/drabble stuff but like. I don't lol. I love angst and I'm sure half the lost fics I would've written as a teen that I barely remember were angsty to a comical degree, but if I had finished my hylink fic that might be the angstiest 😏
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Talking planned endings since I haven't finished... My ct uni au, cause it's not meant to have an ending LMAO. It's basically a drabble collection haha. Otherwise... Idk... Maybe my st au ending? It's not sunshine and roses, but it has a nice ending that gives me a similar satisfying wrap up that various star trek finales have given me.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not that I can recall... There's some pushy and rude people I've had in the past but nothing enough that I can remember lolll
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yeas 😏 I'll write anything now I've kinda overcome the juvenile feelings I had over it... I'd just get embarrassed and didn't know how to unpack that lolll. I don't think I have any published atm but that's why I have the side, I've def drawn stuff tho 😏👍
10. Do you write crossovers? If so, what's the craziest one you've written?
Not really. The closest I get is stuff like my star trek au, where I've made a universe heavily inspired by star trek and have the ct characters play a certain unique to that world.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Hope not 😑
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope
13. Have you ever co written a fic before?
Yeah!! One of the vague memories of my early teen years writing I had this cool android dystopian fic for some characters I made with a friend, it was super fun but we never finished cause we both progressively got busier through the end of high school... Oh also I had this one fic I'd write with my sister and it was one of the rare times we got along growing up, aaand this one 'fic' that's grown into its own thing that I've had with one of my besties since we were 14, we've talked about adapting it to be it's own original thing so it didn't come to mind at first cause it's now it's own thing and not a fic lol.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Magland lmao. Specially crafted to be an all time favourite, what can I say?
15. What's a Wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I'm hoping to get to all the big ones I wanna write eventually... I don't wanna write off anything just yet... I won't finish some of the old shit I never published cause it wasn't finished enough LMAOOO
16. What are your writing strengths?
I like to think that it's characterisation and world building. They're what I enjoy a lot and put huge amounts of effort into behind the scenes so I can confidently obscure it for the reader in ways that are fun to reveal without it feeling like bullshit made up on the fly
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I wanna say dialogue but I've had compliments on it in the past.. it's just hard making sure it all sounds like them and not just me saying shit through them haha. Otherwise, I think I get stuck in scene transitions or when things need to have more added or cut out stuff to have a more natural feeling end. I'll get there eventually if I have the time, but..eh
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Depends how it's handled, I think! If you're writing a bilingual character, or the scene takes place in a location that isn't the language the book is primarily written in, that can be kinda fun. I think I'd be more interested in knowing if and how the reader will get translations, whether the characters in that scene get translations or just understand that language, ect. To be picky and snooty about it, I don't think I've ever come across good styles of this in fic, cause there's not the same guidelines and such for traditionally published books, but like. Whatever lol. It's interesting to me, especially when you get to the territory of made up languages. Depends on the world, the setting and the scene for me I guess
19. First fandom you ever wrote for?
Probably Loz or CT when I was a kid lol
20. Favourite fic you've written?
So far, my st au. Sorry Harland
I've just put so much effort into it and it's been years in the making, it'll take years to continue, but I'm still working on it slowly so. Can't wait to finish it, got massive plans
~~
Not tagging anyone cause I can't be bothered, but if you wanna do these, just say I did!
#tagged#kanonavi#thank youuuu it's fun talking about my fics#i need to work on them some more soon...

twenty questions for fic writers
tagged by @perfectlysunny02 and @inell both; thank you!
how many works do you have on ao3?
28.
what's your total ao3 word count?
96,670.
what fandoms do you write for?
911 at the moment; sandman and stargate sg1 in the past. also repo! the genetic opera, which i had (somehow) forgotten until i looked at my fandoms page.
top five fics by kudos:
let me in before the rainy season starts again (sandman, dreamling)
i want to believe (sandman, dreamling, outsider POV my beloved)
clouds the size of oceans outside and above our heads (sandman, dreamling)
colliding with forever when you speak (sandman, dreamling, sequel to 1 and 2)
the symphony of what we are (sandman, dreamling)
do you respond to comments?
i try! but sometimes i don't get to them until there's a lot and then i get overwhelmed and just don't. this was @perfectlysunny02’s answer, and honestly it could have come directly from me.
what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
hmm! i think it’s a tie between thunder in our hearts, baby (a repo! band AU in which a zombie apocalypse happens) and we were warm until we went to hell (a star trek repo! au). they’re my only two works with the MCD tag, so.
what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
gosh. i dunno. maybe last night i had a dream that you adored me, just because it’s a college AU where shilo is briefly aware of what happened in canon and really appreciates what she’s got.
do you get hate on fics?
no! thankfully. the closest i got was a comment recently telling me what i should do for the next installment of the series without even an “i liked this!” so. like i said. i’m thankful.
do you write smut?
i have just resigned myself to not being a person who writes smut, okay. some of us just can’t.
craziest crossover:
the sound of her wings, which is a crossover between m*a*s*h and the sandman comics.
have you ever had a fic stolen?
not as far as i know.
have you ever had a fic translated?
not as far as i know!
have you ever co-written a fic before?
not fully, but i like to think i have been Helpful with some of @wilddragonflying’s fics.
all time favourite ship?
OH GOD why are you asking me to choose. no. i refuse.
what's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
so i started a sandman/sg1 crossover like a year and a half ago and i do, in fact, have a decent chunk of it written! i am still in love with the concept! (hob gadling, the man who doesn’t die, and daniel jackson, the man who dies so much they make jokes about it in-universe; also, hob gadling, the man who doesn’t die, versus everyone’s favorite space vampire wasps.) but at this point idk if i’ll ever actually finish it.
what are your writing strengths?
i am being! kind! to myself! i am good at getting into characters’ heads.
what are your writing weaknesses?
sometimes i have trouble figuring out where to start something, and if i can’t figure that out i have real trouble just jumping ahead in the scene. i’m getting better on it though. (also, ends of scenes my beloathed.)
thoughts on dialogue in another language?
i … don’t know what this question means? positive?
first fandom you wrote in?
sailor moon. in 2001. it was on geocities. and honestly it’s best for everyone that it’s lost to time.
favourite fic you've written?
a tie, i think, between i want to believe, which i linked already, because i love outsider POV and ended up loving the students, and be careful what you say (or you’ll give yourself away) because a) i love barclay/agent stern and b) it still makes me laugh.
tagging people for fun and profit! (where “profit”, here, means “i get to get my grubby little hands on your answers”) @wilddragonflying @wakeupnew @bagheerita @half-bakedboy @landwriter

Thanks so much to @honeybewrites for the tag!
WIP Questionnaire tag
Ya know what? Let's do this for 11 Past Midnight.
What's the first part of your WIP you created?
Actually the setting itself. 11 Past Midnight takes place in the same universe as Children of the Stars, just several centuries earlier (before humanity got its collective shit together). Originally the 'Fall of Earth' as this period is referred to was just meant to be a fun little worldbuilding thing, but then I realised the story potential it holds.
And boy, 11 Past Midnight is shaping up to tell the story of a very important part of the lore.
If your story was a TV show, what would the intro be?
'Wherever I may roam' by Metallica would both have some symbolic value to it, and would fit the whole 'Heavy Metal Apocalypse' vibe of the setting.
Alternatively: 'Odyssey' by The Flight could also work quite nicely given that it's a song Kat actually plays in the story from time to time and that holds some significance to her.
What are your favourite characters you have made and why?
Yekatarina 'Kat' Mezhova has definitely been the most fun to write purely because she's (and excuse my wording) FUCKING UNHINGED.
I've never really written a protagonist like this before so I'm definitely having a lot of fun just writing the crazy things she gets up to by being herself.
What other pieces of media do you think your fanbase would share?
I think any fans of Mad Max and the first two Metro games would probably like 11 Past Midnight.
Actually some Star Trek and Star Trek: NG fans might be drawn to the whole 'show up, find x, help, and leave' setup of the series as Kat and Artur find holdouts of humanity in the wasteland and try to help them for whatever reason.
What has been the biggest struggle with you WIP?
Research. The majority of the story takes place across Siberia, and figuring out what life is like there and what their cultures are so I can extrapolate for a setting that's both post nuclear and post total ecological collapse has been... interesting, to put it lightly.
Also actually having to put my knowledge of geographic systems to use to figure out the climate of this brave and hellish new world.
Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
Actually that's a major part of the setting: humanity's mistakes killed off everything. In many places you can't even breathe the air unless you've found a little pocket where plants have somehow survived the collapse, and the only things left in the wasteland are the hardiest things: Humans, Roaches, and Tartigrades.
In about ten years, the Empire will be formed, and in a century a madwoman by the name of Doctor Kalmyk Balkhyr will create the Eden project to clean up Earth and will resurrect about 80% of the species that went extinct during the Fall, but for the time being: Earth is dead.
I mean by some metrics, Artur can be considered an animal (given that he gets mistaken for a mutant) but that's a bit iffy of a statement to make.
How do your characters travel/get around?
Kat is a driver for an old Supply Rig that saw action in the Ruso-Siberian war just before the world ended. Although she's not nearly old enough to have fought in that conflict, her grandfather did, and she inherited the Rig from her mother who inherited it from him.
The Rig can best be described as a truck designed to slog it through snow, mud, and those weird sub-terranean ice-sheets of northern Siberia and provide a living space for two or three people for months at a time, as well being decently defendable if attacked.
Most of the story takes place either in the rig while on the road, or trying to get the rig back on the road, so it's the most common source of transport by far for our protagonists
What part of your WIP are you working on right now?
'Episode' one (idk if it's still called that in a written medium), basically just establishing why Kat and Artur are travelling across the Siberian wasteland and why they're sticking together.
What aspects/tropes do you think will draw your audience in?
Probably the trope of an Odyssey, maybe even a stranger in a strange place.
What are your hopes for your WIP?
Mostly just that people will read it. I'll probably just post the parts on Tumblr because it's not really set up to be written as a publishable book

Fic Writer 20 Questions
Thanks for the tag, @frostbitebakery !!🥰🥰🥰
1.) How many works do you have on ao3
35, but that also includes some of pyro's that I'm listed as co on because I helped with so much of the plotting out and behind the scenes stuff
2.) What's your ao3 word count?
336,631
3.) What fandoms do you write for?
Right now primarily Star Wars bc that's where my brainrot is, but I've been known to play around in a few other sandboxes. There are a few Star Trek fics on my AO3 as well, and there's a multifandom xreader sideblog floating around somewhere that I am not going to tag because I consider it a Different Era and not reflective of the work I'm doing now. Even though I'm STILL getting notes on a Wolverine smut fic I posted all the way back in 2018.
4.) What are your top five fics by kudos?
Foelu
SubObi Week Day Five
SubObi Week Day One
SubObi Week Day Four
SubObi Week Day Six
(Foelu is leading by A Margin in basically everything but hits now, it's insane)
5.) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to! And I'm usually pretty good at it. Sometimes I'm really not sure what to say and sometimes I get kind of overwhelmed so not always, but I do try. I'm super behind on Foelu atm bc you all continue to just blow me away with the support on that one, but I promise I'm planning to sit down and try to get caught up soon.
6.) What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Angsty endings aren't super my thing, to be honest. Most of the things I've actually finished have happy endings, just because that's my personal preference. Most of my angst is in the middle, and I'd say probably the angstiest fic I have (at least right now) is Traveling Song. Ari has...been through it. It used to be a whole lot worse before the first rewrite happened though.
7.) What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Idk, maybe the Obi-Wan Omegaverse series I did for SubObi Week?
8.) Do you get hate on fics?
Not yet, here's to hoping that doesn't change anytime soon.
9.) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Oh, yes. All sorts of it 😈😈
10.) Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Crossovers have never super been my thing, so no, not really.
11.) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that know of, again, hoping it stays that way.
12.) Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not yet, I think, but I have had one or two podfic'ed!
13.) Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
I'm listed as a co-author on @pyromanicdaydreamer 's The Moments In Between since I helped with so much of the development for it (what can I say, I'm an ideas guy if I'm anything), but I've never really co-written anything, as far as the actual words and stuff.
14.) What's your all time favorite ship?
I'm mentally ill about Codywan in a way I've never really been before or since, to be honest. They're my special little guys. Also, though, Octavious and Jedidiah from Night At The Museum, Obviously.
15.) What's a WIP you'd like to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Oh, so many.
16.) What are your writing strengths?
I think the most consistent feedback I've gotten is that my character work and humor are good, which does just make me feel real nice because characterization is something I worry about.
17.) What are your writing weaknesses?
I am a total slave to the muse, my WIP graveyard is sprawling. I do think I could stand to be a little more descriptive at times, and I'm never going to claim that an English teacher wouldn't cry at some of my grammar. I'm a lot more concerned with how things sound than if they're technically correct.
18.) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
It's one of those things that's dependent on the characters, but when appropriate I do think it can add more depth. It also just makes sense for some characters--for example, you can be on either side of the clones-being-Mandalorian debate, but picking up another language from the trainers that the Kaminoans and likely their future generals don't know could only be in their best interest strategically.
19.) First fandom you wrote for?
Marvel I think. Pyro and I wrote a bunch of OC stuff in the 2012 era, and I think one of my very first ones was a Thor x OC that might even still be on ff.net.
20.) Favorite fic you've ever written?
Oh fuck. Uh. C'mon, man, this is like asking me to choose a favorite child. Shit. Um. I don't know if it's my favorite, but They Told Me I Couldn't Bag A Jedi was a lot of fucking fun to work on.
I think I'm gonna tag @ferretrade @goddammitjim @shootingstarpilot @bluemaskedkarma @brigittttoo

Rules: Make a 24 hour poll with the names of your WIPs, let it run, then write one sentence for every vote the winner receives.
Thanks for the tag @imabiscuitinthousandworlds !!
see my pinned post for context if you somehow weren't aware
idk i had this idea for an autistic spock oneshot where he has sensory overload after melding with the horta (large pile of garbage) in that one episode and hangs out w jim
uh. it's two sports players holding hands, "they're not actually gay but like... draw it like they *could be* gay. sort of" (you know who you are, commissioner)
bright colors and high saturation and i just want to fiddle with a colorful artstyle i've been vibing with
i'm so behind on these, please vote for this option even tho i don't want to do it ;-; my characterhub and toyhouse are linked in pinned if you want to check out my ocs (i'm on ch wayyy more)
(for the visual art stuff i'll do like. 5 minutes of work per vote or smth.)
(also to keep me working on stuff i'll do a sentence (etc) for each vote on each choice, not just the winner)
this is an interesting tag game, i appreciate it! :)
tagging @thegroundhogdidit @vitamin-zeeth @zebracakesarecopingmechanisms @an-akward-ace and any of my other writer/artist/creator mutuals (and anyone else)! good luck on ur wips 👍

wip 🤔 & 🛠
🤔 What’s a story you’d love to write but haven’t even started yet?
At the moment, it's a Valjean/Javert story set during the Montreuil-sur-Mer era, that's very confusing for both of them because they get entangled (because of fanfic reasons lol) and feelings get involved, and it all feels really good in my head but what are words? How do I turn it into a story? :D Most likely, I will combine it with post-Seine, because I like the idea of them having to untangle the Madeleine era stuff too (especially when they get closer and then Javert just gets angry and petty and turns Valjean in anyway) ... idk it's all very vague because coming up with "but how would they get closer during the Montreuil era is HARD" LMAO But funnily enough, because it's a book with so many adaptations that just do whatever, it feels kind of freeing because I don't feel the pressure to really stay 100% true to the characterization because people who make adaptations don't either, so I kind of hope that trying to write Valjean/Javert fic will be less pressuring than writing Star Trek fics.
🛠 Is there a scene or anything in the WIP you are struggling with right now?
I do have a Valjean/Javert wip that's based on Les Misérables 2000 - I just want to use the scene where Javert walks into the Seine, his wrists handcuffed, and I like the dynamic Valjean and Javert have in that series - so far, it's also the only adaptation I've seen that has Valjean talk about Javert after Javert's death (and it also feels that if he got that chance, he would follow Javert and stop him from killing himself, more than others) - but I just can't figure out how to make Valjean take Javert home after Seine because my brain is like, but would he truly? (ofc not, but I want him to, brain!!!! :D idk maybe he should follow Javert to his home instead? 🤔)
#thank you!#leni answers memes#i think les miserables is good for me because tos made me really inflexible and now i feel like i'm back to 'before'#when shipping just meant taking two characters and reading fics about them. now with the added benefit of writing for them too#i still have to fight my brain occasionally but well#in any case i need to stop procrastinating and write even if it's just 100 words a day

writing ask game: 7 11 and 4?
4. Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?
it STRIKES me.
I have a few certain aus and things that follow me from fandom to fandom- ex. Labyrinth or StEx aus- and those often get rehashed by me when I find characters I like or enjoy haha.
But! Ideas can come from pretty much anywhere for me, may it be me rewatching a movie or episode, or learning more about the characters (cough, the amount of barbie rockers stuff ive found in the past few days, cough), or pretty much anything!! If I have time where I'm stuck to think, I often think about silly new ideas and such. :)
7. How do you choose which POV to write from?
This is a hard one. I guess whoever I think I will get more emotion out of OR whoever has my brain at the moment, I guess?
Let's use, for example, my current wip- it's a fake engagement fic, and I started the fic off with the character that the fake proposal is given to. I wrote out their reaction to it, because I felt it'd be more fun for me to write, and probably more fun to read the confusion! Also. POV character is favorite character heehee.
For the same pairing, I've tended to write in the other character's POV, due to the way their character fits in with my writing style/it's more fun to write in his POV, just because.
Depends on the plot and the vibes, haha.
11. Link your three favorite fics right now
RIGHT NOW ???? I'm gonna link the fics that STICK with me omg- i am pretty sure I've answered something like this before, but ill also bet that list is completely different lol- I've read SO much fanfic over my however long I've read fic
Your Fault, My Fault, Whatever - whichlights - Jay/Kai (Ninjago) - if there ever was a fic that I was COMPLETELY obsessed over it's this one. I feel like this is the fic I've read over and over and over, just because I loved it so so so much. It was essentially my lifeblood when I was in the Ninjago fandom and I honestly STILL think about it even though I have not watched any Ninjago recently other than an episode or two.
All is Fair in Love/I Will Love You Better Now- nothingwithoutyouxo - Harry/Peter (TASM) - One I've reread several times and honestly I need to read it again aghhhh.... THESE two are probably the fics that made me love parksborn so much, especially TASM. I love them SO much and !!!!!!! (To be honest I may have read these BEFORE I watched tasm, right after I watched the raimi trilogy. Oops.)
The Two Musketeers - summoner_yuna_of_besaid - Chekov/Sulu (Star Trek: TOS) - okay, now I have to link one I've found and read more recently, haha. (New fandoms wooo!!) This one is so sweet and I DUNNO I love the way the author wrote this one. It's just so them and perfect?? idk aaa

Twenty questions for fanfic writers
I was tagged by the incomparable @baronessblixen 🫶🫶
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
104
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
396,351
3. What fandoms do you write for?
The X-Files, Star Trek, and I have one The West Wing fic
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Platonic Procreation
Security Questions
Eden
Mother Knows Best
The MSR Files
5. Do you respond to comments?
Sometimes! I usually try to respond if someone commented about something specific, and essay length comments always deserve a reply❤️ also if someone comments saying they reread your fic bc that's the best feeling in the world
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hmm I only have a few that end angsty but I guess that would be my canon compliant post-IVF Rain King fic, Driftwood Lullaby
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably Aqua Vitae, but I also wanna spotlight one of my earlier fics, in which Mulder gives Scully a real wedding ring for their case in Arcadia, Though the Heavens Fall
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I've gotten a couple of nitpicky comments and one actual hate comment (ironically that one was on my most popular fic!😆)
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
No, I know it's popular but it's just not my thing either to write or to read
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I haven't written one yet but I have several ideas for TXF/Star Trek, TXF/SVU, TXF/Bones gathering dust in my google docs😅
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I hope not!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not as far as I know
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Several! I contributed a chapter to Anahata: The Heart Chakra, Eden, The Amazing Muldeeni, and Agent Scully is Already in Love
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
MSR!
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
A prequel to Purplerow by @katy-kt-katie, an AU in which Scully is an astronaut, about the time she made first contact with aliens on Mars (I really wanna finish this but life has decided to just keep throwing bricks at me and I haven't been able to concentrate enough to write in so long)
16. What are your writing strengths?
I've been told I'm good at dialogue😅
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I struggle so much with choosing the right word to describe something sometimes, and also finding alternative words to use when I accidentally use the same word four or five times in the same paragraph😂
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I like reading it! I think it adds to the atmosphere of the story, but I don't think I've ever done it myself except to copy and paste the German dialogue from Triangle😅
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Lord of the Rings, I wrote a sequel featuring Aragorn and Arwen's daughter and posted it on Instagram back when I was active in the Tolkien fandom circa 2015 (posting fic on instragram probably sound super weird lmao but it was what people did, they'd post a pic corresponding to the fic and the chapter went in the captions)
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I'm pretty proud of the fic I wrote last October for Mulder's birthday, Where a Million Stars Catch Fire
Tagging @katy-kt-katie @tofuttim @television-overload @cecilysass @slippinmickeys @skelavender @virtie333 and idk who else writes and hasn't been tagged so if you see this have at it lol

Fic 20 questions
tagged by @gallifreyburning! Thank you!
1. how many works do you have on Ao3?
130
2. what's your total Ao3 word count?
1,107,429 which is a startling amount. A lot (a lot) from the lockdown years.
3. what fandoms do you write for?
The old guard, top gun maverick, stranger things, star trek...ao3 will tell you i have also written a lot for supernatural, but that was a decade ago
4. what are your top five fics by kudos?
chrysalis
incurable
say the word (& I'll be your rennaissance man)
offer no absolutes
(don't) blame it on the moonlight
5. do you respond to comments?
I really really try to but it gives me a kind of social anxiety where I feel like a dick for saying the same thing over and sometimes that stops me from doing it until I feel like it's been way too long and I can't possibly answer now. I appreciate every single comment so so so much though!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don't really do angsty endings. I vaguely recall writing some angstier supernatural stuff back on livejournal? Or I guess I have some joe/nicky/booker stuff in TOG that ends on an angsty note.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably say the word (and I'll be your rennaissance man) which is just high-octane fluff all the way through. but pretty much all my fic ends happy.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Yeah but basically entirely related to all the dumb top!joe discourse stuff. So only people who wanted to send me or others threats for...idk writing about joe topping and bottoming versus only topping. hard to take seriously.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes!
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I think I have crossed over every major teen fandom of mine with TOG, so I did a star trek, a torchwood and an SPN one. Although I'm not sure when it stops counting as crossover and starts counting as fusion.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I know, but i could be wrong
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yeah once or twice
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, a few with @dreamtiwasanarchitect! Great experience
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
I can't answer this lol. Changes with the hyperfixations
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
The choose your own adventure Joe x Nicky one, i wish i had the time and energy for it
16. What are your writing strengths?
I would say dialogue. And maybe, if this makes sense, conveying what a character is thinking and feeling out of the perspective of another character who is nominally oblivious to it
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Describing scenery/physical characteristics/logistics of where what is. I am not a visual thinker
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Depends on the context and whether it's understandable for the audience
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Tamora Pierce's Tortall books. fortunately, these fics are probably no longer findable on the internet.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
In terms of ambition, right where you left me which I co-wrote with @dreamtiwasanarchitect. The process of outlining and writing that one kickstarted my ambition to write my own actual book (a thing that exists out in the world now). In terms of style, I'm really proud of how (don't) blame it on the moonlight came out in that you really don't need Nicky's perspective because it's so obvious.
Tagging @regina-del-cielo @nicolos and anyone else who wants to!
