I came up with maybe not a theory but more of just an observation that the east blue 5 seem to parallel the 5 love languages and it's kinda reframed all of their actions and behaviours towards each other so much for me on my watchthrough. Got brainworms from that one oda interview where he said zoro doesn't like verbally expressing gratitude and prefers to show appreciation through actions and it got me thinking

The 5 languages:

Physical touch - Luffy

Acts of service - Zoro

Quality time - Usopp

Receiving / giving gifts - Nami

Words of affirmation - Sanji

Funnily enough in OPLA we definitely see a lot of physical touch Luffy. He's always playfully punching or hugging crewmates, despite having known the crew for such a short time he's just instantly clingy and physically present around them in east blue.

Zoro is very much an actions person. He's a little emotionally constipated and doesn't verbalise his feelings very much, in fact that seems like the last thing he wants to do, but he will always be looking out for any member of the crew silently, and is almost always the first to spring into action when it's called for. He shows he cares through acts of service and being there for his captain and crew.

Usopps language being quality time is shown pretty well in syrup village with his relationship with Kaya. Kaya is a girl who has everything she could wish for financially, but ussop provides her with a much needed friend, someone to support her and just physically be present and talk to her. He risks so much just to make her smile because being there for his friends is such a crucial and important thing for him.

Nami's love language being giving/recieving gifts means so much to me because it is so often seen as the most shallow of the love languages and I have seen so many poor analysis and digs at Nami's character, reducing her to just being greedy and money hungry. Did they watch Arlong park with their eyes closed??? For Nami, gold or money is a means for her to provide for the people she cares about, to ensure their financial stability and freedom and to keep her crewmates fed and afloat. She spent so long scorned and alone and (believed she was) hated because she created this money hungry persona to save her village and to best Arlong. Every piece of gold she bled to get was meant for that end goal. Nami deserves the financial freedom and gold that being a strawhat pirate could give because for years and years every bit she earned was tucked away for the well-being of others and was then stolen from under her nose. (This paragraph got very long but I'm not sorry I am the captain of the Nami defense squad.)

And finally Sanji reflects words of praise as a love language. I think it's the most clear to see with how Sanji is so quick to praise any female character he comes into contact with, especially Nami, but I think it also reflects his strained relationship with zef while working at the baratie. Zeff is always verbally critical of Sanji as a way to rile him up and to encourage him to leave the restaurant. Zef weaponises what makes Sanji tick to antagonise him and tries to get him to leave that way, but Sanji is far too stubborn and feels too great a debt to leave.

I think east blue definitely shows the 5 dynamics in a pretty clear way and kinda helped me understand what makes the characters tick. Also why some of the characters end up butting heads or getting into arguments. They all show and recieve love in different way, sometimes there are misunderstandings or clashes but at the end of the day they all trust each other with their lives and it's such a strong bond.

Anyways I'll eventually draw some more OP but I'd love to hear any thoughts or other people's ideas if they have any on the matter. Sometimes I get analysis brainworms, and I first shared the idea on discord, but figured why not post it to Tumblr too

ALSO please if anyone has examples from the series that fit the love languages PLEASE share it, makes my heart oougggghhghg.

the moment that made me love nico robin forever was, obviously i want to live! take me back out to sea with you! but the moment that made me obsessed with her forever was actually when she's on the bridge with spandam and she's been doing everything she can to get away from him and buy herself even just precious seconds more time so her friends can catch up with her

and she's got cuffs on that cancel her powers. and she's hurt and miserable and she's got 20 years of baggage and belief that she will always be alone weighing her down. and sure, she said she wanted to live, but right now surviving is so fucking hard. first time i watched, i kept wondering if she'd give up again

instead, what she does is she runs away from spandam again. he catches her. knocks her to the ground at the edge of the bridge. he tries to pull her back up but... she's holding onto the bridge with her teeth.

her fucking teeth! so hard she bleeds! it has to hurt! she's already beat to hell! she can't fight back, chained up like she is! all she can do is hold on literally by the skin of her teeth!!!!!

and it works!

those precious seconds buy just enough time for her to be saved by her friends. those tiny moments of resistance, which spandam mocks relentlessly, matter so so much. if spandam had gotten to the end of the bridge even a second earlier, robin would have been lost. idk man i just get chills thinking about it.

Wild card : Though he can take punches, kicks, and even stabs without screaming in pain—Luffy starts whining like a poor puppy everytime he comes to ask you to patch him up.

“Y/n...! Look, look, I'm heavily injured! I'm reaallyy hurt! Won't you heal me!? And, and! Won't you give me a kiss, too, for doing a great job in beating that bastard's ass!?”

RORONOA ZORO

Same as his captain, the first mate is always injured—due to fights, his harsh training, and other causes

..Despite always being injured, Zoro hates getting himself patched up. But if you're the one doing the healing so he could get better, it's all good for him!

Wild card : Zoro doesn't care if he's greatly bleeding out during a fight—but outside a fight, if he got the smallest cut, Zoro immediately dashes to you to get himself healed up..!

“Hey, so, I was peeling myself apples a while ago using that ero-cook's damned knife—now I got this cut. Heal it now, and eat these with me, yeah?”

NAMI

Nami very much hates getting herself injured, especially getting scars

So Nami is quick to rush to you to get her injury fixed

Wild card : this happens quite rarely, since as said above, she hates getting scars—but, nami sometimes get herself injured on 'places' to see you flushed when she asks you to heal it~

“Babyyy..! Look, look! Look at my perfectly beautiful legs here! They've got a scar! Their beauty has been tarnished, so, please.. Take care of them, yeah~?”

USOPP

Usopp avoids getting himself injured at all cost.

And when he does get injured, he screeches as he dash towards you with tears on his eyes, asking you to heal his injury ASAP.

Wild card : I have this headcanon for Usopp where he's a real clutz, so he always has an injury here and there, and wounds that he doesn't know where it came from.

“Y-Y/n..! W..When I woke up, I saw this new wound on my arm..! I..I don't know where it came from—it's probably from the spirits that I've angered, waaahh!!”

(it was caused by Luffy. He was dreaming that Usopp was a piece of meat, and bit him during their sleep. 💀)

VINSMOKE SANJI

As the left hand man of the ship's captain, Sanji is always out on a fight to support his captain, so injuries are unavoidable.

He's developed durability to the beating up he receives and shows it off his coolness to you, BUT AFTER THE FIGHT, he whines.

Wild card : This perv right here always has a nosebleed everytime you go patch up his beaten up ass, causing you more trouble.

“My loveee..! I'm injured, I'm badly hurt..! Everything's so painful, so please, heal me with your magic kiss—*you kiss him* *he nosebleeds*”

NICO ROBIN

Robin isn't a big fan of getting injuries during combat, or whenever.

Though despite being injured, she handles it like a Queen! (You don't.)

Wild card : As said above she handles her injuries like the Queen she is, BUT, you don't—you're more panicked when she's injured as she stays calm while telling you some morbid jokes.

“Darling.. Please calm down. I'm not going to die, you know? All I got is this small scratch the size of a severed finger, so, don't worry about me too much, okay?”

FRANKY

SUPEEEERRRRR Franky right here who's a barely gets himself injured.

↑ Why? Because, he's a cyborg, a cool one who will barely get a scratch..!

Wild card : ...When Franky does get injured for some reason being during a fight or where else, he starts crying like a small child to you as he asks you to heal him...!

“Waaahh! This damned injury hurts so bad..! It's SUPEEEERRRR painful, I'm gonna cry! Y/n, Y/n, quick, quickly, heal me and ease my pain..!!”

DRACULE MIHAWK

The greatest swordsman? Injured?? Pfft, not a chance.

Though when he's going against strong fellas, he gets some scratches here and there, which he deals with by himself—not wanting to bother you.

Wild card : Mihawk doesn't show it, but, he loves, and finds it cute when you insist on helping him with his injury that he already had managed, or can obviously handle fixing by himself.

“My dear... I already fixed my injury, so don't worry about it. But.. If you really insist on using your ability to speed up the healing process.. Alright. I'll let you.”

Luffy shouts, from somewhere overhead. Speaking of, your head is killing you. You scrunch your face against the bright sunshine searing orange onto your eyelids. You sit up, woozy. Are you…are you drunk?

No, worse.

Celestial.

“Shit…,” you mutter, swinging your legs off the bench you’ve been laying on. Something rocks the world sideways, and you gasp.

“Nyoop!” Luffy says as he catches you, midfall. You thunk your head against his chest. You’re so loose, and…heavy. You scrub a fist into your eyes. And then,

you stop.

Oh!

Oh.

“Oh, shit,” you say again, staring at the hottest person you’ve seen in your fucking life. This has been Nika the whole time?!

You stumble to your feet, your weight supported by the sun god of your dreams. “S-sorry!” You say, but the word is sour on your tongue. It doesn’t…fit, anymore.

After all, what have you to be sorry for?

And just like that, it’s gone.

A skeleton that is made of bone instead of gold, blood that is not ichor, courage that is human and only ever human, melts away.

The sun goddess has wings.

Gold leaf and elaborate, they stretch out behind you like a monarch butterfly’s. You flap them experimentally, and find yourself floating several inches off the ground. You realight back onto the deck of the ship—for that’s where you are—and suddenly find yourself surrounded by people.

“So…what happens now?”

The sun god beside you laughs, squeezing your warmth into his side. You’re warmer, somehow.

“Now…,” he smiles dazzlingly, two inches from your face. “We say hi!”

The people (gods) gathered around the two of you smile and introduce themselves. Luffy whispers his relationship to them as they speak.

“Nami,” a slender, orange-haired goddess smiles at you. She has a logpose on her wrist. Her skin is smattered in flecks of constellational gold. Navigation, currency, stars.

Sister.

“Nico Robin!” Luffy says, smiling as he gestures toward the mysterious, dark-haired woman in a blue dress. Archeology, historical scriptures, stones.

Sister.

“Ace,” someone who smiles almost as wide as Luffy, shakes your hand with a warm fist. He’s even warmer than you are, now. “Fire, fistfights, and protecting your elders,” he grins.

He smells like cinnamon, too.

“He’s my brother!” Luffy says proudly. “And so is Sabo!”

Another handsome, blond man steps up to shake your hand. His is strong, tough yet flexible. He’s wearing a blue suit, with a strange hat atop his head. He bows, slightly. His lips brush the backs of your knuckles.

“Revolutions, secrets, obsessions,” he introduces his godly dominions with a strange smile on his wide face.

You trust him,

but also

don’t.

“Usopp’s here too! And Sanji, my friends,” Luffy leads you over to a charming male with dark skin and a kerchief around his hair. He’s toying with a slingshot in between dexterous hands. The god of snipers smiles at you sweetly.

Sanji (pale skin, yellow hair, swirly brows) is a chef god, someone who loves the sea and seafood and making girls cum. Oh, he says it with such a blush. Your wings flutter, stardust sparkling off them.

You are the goddess of springtime.

Of dawns and new beginnings.

Of song.

Sweetheart.

“I always did like ya singin’,” Luffy says quietly as he leads you away from the group. There’s another god: a strong, stoic man sitting with his back against the mast, his hands behind his mossy green head.

“Swordsman,” you say, curtsying slightly. This god is like a sleeping tiger. You are afraid of getting bit.

“Zoro,” he says his own name without opening his eyes, or barely even moving his face.

Luffy is undeterred, or else doesn’t care, because he lands in Zoro’s lap to place a kiss on his face. “Zoro’s my first mate!”

He stares cheekily up at you, capuchin smile plastered across his squishy face. You wrap a lock of hair around your finger, twirling it nervously. “S-so nice to meet you,” you stutter out, suddenly cowed by this samurai’s presence.

Swords, sacrifice.

Promises.

First mate.

Luffy squeezes your hands in both of his. “Lemme show ya my room,” he says, scanning your face as your anxiety grows.

Silently, you nod.

Luffy leads you across the deck of his sunshine ship, with the figurehead of a sunflower, no—lion.

He opens his captain’s quarters for you, letting you step inside first.

“So…,” he starts, suddenly shy as he watches you twirl around his room. “Whaddya think?”

“I think it’s lovely,” you smile at him, all floaty with your newfound goddess-ness.

“Springtime suits ya,” he says, stepping forward to skim his knuckles down your arms. “Sing for us sometime too, yeah?” He smiles dazzlingly down at you, his face suddenly mere inches from your own.

“Kiss me, sweetheart?”

He asks, raspy.

Luffy’s lips taste like sunlight.

He groans into the kiss, his hands tightening around your waist. Your chiton is gold now, it seems.

His body is strong, lithe, and muscular as he pushes you backwards onto the bed. He slides between your knees, standing in front of you as he cradles your head.

“Sweetheart,” he whispers, stroking his thumbs along your cheeks, “Stay with me for a while, yeah? Let’s have some adventures, mhm? Say you’ll stay…,” he leans forward to press his forehead against yours. His cloud-like hair squishes against your face.

“Say you’ll protect me first,” you counter, “Say you’ll stay with me.”

He snickers,

and then

he laughs.

“Of course I’ll stay with you!” He shouts, sweeping you up in his arms. He spins you around, and you’re dizzy. From the circles or his scent, you’re not sure. But he sets you down and nuzzles your face, kissing at your cheeks and then your chin.

“I was scared ya wouldn’t stick around,” he scratches the back of his fluffy white head.

“Why wouldn’t I?” You tilt your own godly head, butterfly wings slowly opening and closing behind you.

He scuffs his heel against the floor, sheepish. “Sometimes the priestesses just wanna have sex with me ‘n leave.”

He says it so simply, his heartbreak apparent in every syllable.

“Sorry,” you say, wrapping your hands around his. “Those stupid girls didn’t know what they were missing.”

He stops, stunned.

“Even though m’clumsy and break stuff?” He asks, rosy eyes wide.

You shake your head.

“Who cares? I’m clumsy too,” you smile, tugging his arms so he falls into bed beside you. He lies on his back, so you climb over him.

“So…you’re not gonna leave?” He asks hopefully, flush spreading across his cheeks. You shake your head, straddling his hips. He smiles: a truly bright, delighted smile. Full of pearly, square teeth. “Say you’re my sweetheart, y/n.”

“I’m your sweetheart, sun god.”

“And I’m your captain, spring goddess!”

Re-ordering (highest to lowest) the bounties in the strawhat crew because Oda is either way too bias or has the memory of a goldfish. (I'm rating them if I was a marine in canon) (updated I didn't mean to miss anyone I'm so sorry)

1. Luffy

for obvious reasons: he's the captain, strongest, etc.

2. Nico Robin

i cannot stress this enough. NICO ROBIN IS SECOND!

She is the only person left alive that can read the ponegliphs, therefore the only one who can get ANYONE to Laugh tale. She had been chased by the government since she was eight. She's not only one of the smartest people not only on the crew, but dare I say on the Grand Line, but she's also one of the strongest. (like idk how people keep forgetting this, did we not watch Wano???) She's been an assassin and the right hand man of one of the seven warlords for years. I'd even say she was kind of his body guard tbh...

3. Franky

I'm putting Franky so high up because of a couple of factors. The obvious ones: He is physically strong, also extremely smart (as he was an apprentice to a man so feared by the marines they looked for any excuse to execute him, whether because of his social standing or skills) He has lasers(one of the strongest, if not THE strongest weapons in their universe) designed by Vega Punk himself. But most importantly: he memorized the blue prints of a weapon important enough for the world government to try and assassinate as many people as they need to get their hands on. He can build it at any point and there's no other copy of it.

4. Zoro and Sanji (same bounty)

I'm putting them above the rest mainly because I still respect Oda's decision to put them higher up. Physical strength aside, each of them, in my opinion, has a good reason to be deemed as dangerous. Logically, one would put the Captain's right-hand man above the other, but Sanji's "Vinsmoke" status, much as he hates it, boosts him up. He may not have grown up with them or have the same mutations or "upgrades", but the people don't know that. Fear wins half the battle.

5. Jinbei and Brook

Brook: a master swordsman and a man who can control people with music?!?! I feel like we keep forgetting that. He also spent the time skip become an infamous rockstar, who's fans FOUGHT THE NAVIE so they could listen to him! Influence-wise, Brook takes the cake.

6. Usopp

With half-a-mind to put him in the №5 bundle, I'm putting him a bit lower for one reason only: not everyone would know or believe what happened in Dresrossa. Undoubtedly, he had created a cult-like following there and he can spin a tale to his advantage, and technically being pronounced a "God" would make it... a cult... But that would lose brownie points in the major public's eyes. Even though his skills are admirable, he's not as strong or wildly influential as Jinbei (a literal warlord) and Brook (the Michael Jackson of op)

7. Nami

Navigator, they can't go far or fast without her. She has had a record with the navie before as a petty thief, but other than her charms and wits, there's no reason for them to put her higher...

8. Chopper

The Navie does not care for Chopper. I don't think they'd put him anywhere above the last spot in any universe... sorry.

she knew she was a girl since a really young age but due to being on the run was only able to get on hrt after joining baroque works, in fact access to e and bw being trans friendly was, next to being able to search for the poneglyphs, the most important reason she stayed there as long as she did

As a trans person I relate so much to her story,,, I know her whole plot about "being a monster" and "feeling left out" isn't specifically about that but it is a metaphor for kids who were different and I feel like the transfem HC for her is so, so real. I've always seen her as this older sister figure who couldn't be herself when she was young so now she has the chance to have fun and still gives perfect advice when it comes to queerness. I feel like she'd be the best influence for young trans people,,, (not to mention my transfem Sanji HC here but I am thinking about her too).

Her admiration toward her mom coming from a place of both love and wanting to be like her,, It's just so sweet. And I believe Baroque works would be so open to queer identities (it's basically canon what am I saying) that she'd finally get to be herself openly. It makes me wonder about Crocodile's transmasc HC too, tbh. I mean, it fits so well with this and I believe that despite everything they'd make Robin feel safe.

When she joins the Strawhats it's sort of like-- The biggest breath of fresh air for her. She doesn't need to tell them anything and if she wants to, she knows they will accept her. She doesn't hide anything but she doesn't make it her personality even if she acknowledges it is a big part of herself. Idk,, I think that Luffy sees gender as something so insignificant and unimportant that it is a relief for Robin to not think about it for once and just... Breathe.

And!!! The Ivankov/Revs thing is always so awesome to hear with OP trans headcanons. I think Robin sharing her experience with others and being able to transition in a way that's safe and comfortable and makes her feel at home and understood is so so so important. No matter what she chooses, because her loved ones will see her as herself anyway,,,

It was a normal day on the Sunny. Well, normal for you. Normal as in Nami was chasing Luffy around, Zoro bickering with Sanji, Usopp and Chopper in a game of ‘who can get hurt faster’. You excluded yourself from the madness, finding refuge in the private library only you and Robin had access to.

Ah, the privileges you got for being the partner of the resident Straw hat archaeologist.

You were sitting cross legged on the carpeted ground, organizing the bookshelves and dusting the shelves as Robin had requested. As you finished the last row, the door clicked open, before shutting with a bang.

A smile formed on your face at the sound of your girlfriend’s arrival. You stood up, turning around to greet the love of your life. “Robin! I didn’t know you were back so soon. I thought you were-” 

A shriek was ripped out of your mouth, as you stumbled back, staring at the figure in front of you. A small petite girl, a third your height was standing in front of the door. She had jet black hair with ocean blue eyes, brows furrowed and a familiar frown on her face. You recognized those ocean blue eyes; you couldn’t ever forget the sight of tranquility in eons. But those eyes didn’t belong on the face of a dwarf.

“What in the fuck?” You stammered, staring at the girl. “How did you get on board?! A pirate ship? Do you know where you are, kid?!”

“Y/N, it’s me. It’s Robin.” The girl squealed, taking a step towards you. You instinctively took a step back, a hand absentmindedly reaching for the sword on the desk. Robin? What in the fuckknuckles? Who does this girl think she is, walking onto the Sunny and proclaiming to be my girlfriend? 

“No, no, nope. Robin, first of all, is thrice your height, and her voice is WAY lower than yours.” Your voice cracked, leaking with hesitancy. This girl, wherever she came from, was NOT your girlfriend. You were 50% sure. 

“Y/N, please, put down the sword.” NotRobin took another step closer to you, desperation cracking through that surprisingly familiar stoic expression. “Ask me anything. I promise I’m Robin.”

“Okay. Okay. Fine.” You placed the weapon back on the desk, staring down at the kid. “If you’re Robin, use your devil fruit power.”

NotRobin let out a sigh, closing her eyelids. She raised her arms, crossing them in front of her chest. Like a seed germinating, a hand sprouted from your chest, the duplicate fingers flicking your forehead before disappearing with a flower petal. You stumbled back, placing a hand on where the duplicate hand was. That flick had sent your soul out of your body, leaving you paralyzed with shock and confusion. It wasn’t after a while your soul came back, as you faced MaybeRobin, her arms folded on top of each other under her chest, a smug smile on her face.

“T-That was unnecessary!” You managed to regurgitate out.

“Still don’t believe me?” MaybeRobin let out a small chuckle. 

Your cheeks flushed red. “W-Well! Maybe you somehow have the devil fruit ability to replicate other devil fruits, and you just happen to know it’s Robin’s devil fruit!”

“Y/N, I love you, but darling your logic is still terrible.”

“Shut up!” You stammered, while MaybeRobin had a devious smile on her face. Of course MaybeRobin was relishing in your embarrassment. Actual Robin would do the same. You thought to yourself.

“Okay, then.” Recomposing yourself, you faced MaybeRobin with a serious look. “If you really are Robin, who confessed first?”

“You did.” MaybeRobin answered without hesitation.

“Lucky guess. Where did I-”

“In the crow’s nest. During my turn to watch over the Sunny. You crept into the crow’s nest in the middle of my turn, and confessed, and then we stayed up there the entire night cuddling and watching the stars.” ProbablyRobin answered with a monotone voice, as if she was repeating a speech she was forced to memorize a hundred times like it was nothing.

You stared at ProbablyRobin with a shocked look, but quickly pursed your lips, not letting ProbablyRobin know she was right. “Lucky guess. If you were really really my girlfriend, you would know that-”

“You have a birthmark on your left thigh near your-”

“OKAY, OKAY. I GOT IT.” You shouted at the top of your lungs, glaring at Robin with a warning look. Robin let out a giggle, placing a hand in front of her mouth. That laugh. That laugh that caught your heart. That laugh that made you fall in love with the girl that spent her life running away from the world. Bending down, you faced your supposed girlfriend, looking into those familiar ocean blue eyes. “Riddle me this then, if you really are Robin, why are you a kid?”

“Perhaps our last fight in that laboratory had some lasting effects. I do recall one of the scientists hitting me with some sort of chemical.” Robin answered nonchalantly.

You stared at Robin, jaw glued to the floor. “YOU GOT HIT BY UNKNOWN CHEMICALS AND YOU DIDN’T GO TO CHOPPER?!”

“I went to Chopper, rest assured. He’s certain this is… whatever this is is harmless and will go away soon.” Robin smiled at you. An uneasy feeling churned in your heart, as you hesitantly placed your hands on child Robin’s shoulders.

“This is… weird.” You stated, giving Robin the same lookdowns she would always give you.

“I know. But it’ll go away soon. Everything will return back to normal.” Robin reassured.

“No, I mean, yes. Yes, this will go away soon. I’m just saying, this is weird. My girlfriend is a child.” You made a vomit sound. “I’d never imagined that sentence coming out of my mouth. Euch. Please tell me this will go away soon.”

Robin giggled. “Be glad you only said that to me, not to the others. Otherwise everyone will start seeing you in a different light.”

It didn't take a genius to know you loved Nico Robin. How you fell for her and hard. How quick it was. You didn't even notice yet- but everyone else did.

How Nami would snicker and tease you over you- embarrassing yourself in front of Robin(or saying something). Not once picking up to what she meant or being given a hint.

The bond you had with Robin was strong. You shared everything with the woman - your feelings and bed(after all, there wasn't a lot or rooms on the ship.) The two of you even talked about your pasts. Or the snippets you'd get from hers- how everything about her before her joining the crew was under lock and key. Like a box never meant to be opened or even seen by another.

Never once did you try and force that box open. If she wanted to share- she would on her own. You understood how she felt. How she preferred to keep her emotions close rather than on her sleeve. Somedays, you still can't even tell if she's genuinely happy or just.. not. It's hard to tell what's going on in her mind - or how she's really feeling.

But you considered you both to be good friends- how on every new island you'd almost always join her. How either she'd give you a look- a smile. And that's your cue that she wanted you with. It was a special bond.

The day you rejected coming with the new island - how she looked almost upset - it was the worst feeling you've ever felt. But to you? It felt like it was needed.

Later that day, you saw both of them go into the forest - Robin stopped to look back at you - like she was waiting for something - her face dropped before turning away.

Slowly pulling away from Robin hurt- but sitting beside the woman you love interact with the man she loves hurts more. You did what you thought was right for you.

Seeing the two interact, broke you. Why was love such a beautiful yet cruel thing to experience? She was all you ever wanted. She made you happy - made you feel loved. But she doesn't want you.

Either sleeping on a couch or on the deck. Using the excuse "I fell asleep" so many times. People stopped asking.

You never noticed how Robin seemed to frown each time you took up the nightwatch.(or you did but chose to ignore it)

One day, you walked into a room and froze. Neither of them saw you, but Robin laid sobbing into his chest. Crying about something. Taking a deep breath, you turned and walked away.

You felt horrible about how she chose HIM for comfort and not you. The jealousy. Why did you have to love her? Why couldn't she love YOU?

Walking down the hall, you barged into Zoros' room sobbing that night - you wouldn't speak about it no matter how many times he asked you

"Can I sleep here?" He nodded. Zoro held you close that night. Worried from how horribly you reacted to something but he was never good with words. So he looked down at you and offered to share his room with you if you ever needed a place to sleep. Thanking him- you nodded.

Then on, you slept in Zoro's room. Not once did he ask about that night after. Just gave you a nod and patted the side of his bed for you. No one saw you go in or go out of his room. You weren't sure how you managed to avoid Robin for as long as you have but- you were bound to run into her again.

Waking up, you pushed yourself off of Zoro's chest- taking his arm off you. Gently getting out, you pulled the covers back on him. Thank God he was such a deep sleeper. Yawning, you stretched, turning to get fresh air you walked out gently closing his bedroom door.

"This is where you've been sleeping?"

Jumping, you automatically knew that soft, smooth voice. Turning, you faced the woman you had dreaded to run into the past month, smiling awkwardly. "Oh hey Robin" you spoke sleepily still fully waking up.

The look of disbelief and heartbreak snapped you out of your sleepy state how her eyes narrowed in that familiar way that gave off the idea that she was anything but happy. "Seriously? You haven't said one thing to me in WEEKS, and you say 'oh hey' as If you didn't want to see me?" The pain and conflicted tone in her voice confused you.

What was she mad about? She had the man she loved? You should be mad. You got replaced- but you constantly have to remind yourself you replaced yourself FOR her.(The fear of being replaced by her hand felt so much worse to let happen.) Shrugging you looked down regret filling you.

"Been busy."

"Busy? Busy what?" She asked calmly, crossing her arms "busy helping Nami with something that She didn't even know about? Busy with Sanji or Usopp, but it turns out. They weren't with you the whole time." her usual calm face broke into an annoyed scowl - something she rarely let happen."Why lie? Did. Did i do something?" Her voice cracked- broken

"No- Robin," your heart broke seeing her look so crushed - borderline crying looking at you. Your eyes widen, realizing your horrible mistake. How could you have done such a thing and not realize how bad it could affect her? She scoffs - snapping out of it - you took too long to respond. Too busy thinking of all you did wrong. Annoyed, turning around and walking away - not stopping even when you called for her

Standing in the hallway you watched as the woman you love cried because of you. And turned away because of you. Seeing how torn she was about how you avoided her. Tears fell from your eyes once you fully realized what you actually did.

You destroyed your friendship with her- the one thing you were scared of happening. Happened

Because of you.

The next realization made you drop to your knees and sob uncontrollably.

You severed that special bond you had with Robin.

You sat fixing up the table in the navigation room. Nami picks up the spare table for such a occurrence- Luffy gets to wild and breaks the original table. Setting it down, she placed a blank map down and started to sketch one out. Before stopping- looking up at you for a moment she stopped and stared

"You're an idiot"

Alarmed, you looked back at her, scoffing in annoyance. "Excuse me?" Putting down her pen, she glared at you, "and how am I an idiot Nami?

"You're an idiot because you won't admit WHY your avoiding her."

Looking away, you went back to hammering the wood gently. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"You don't? Then why is Robin so upset these days. And why are YOU?" Nami scoffed, standing up glaring down at you. "I've seen the way you look at her. Hell. Everyone has. You lo-"

"Don't say it." You cut her off standing, glaring at her with tears in your eyes, "I know. But this. What im doing? IS for the best"

"For who exactly?"

"Her. It's all for her. Not only do I know how she feels about this type of thing. BUT I know. I'm not and never will be the one she wants. All I want is for her to be happy." Namis face dropped hearing this confession looking down almost with regret.

"But it's hurting you both"

Throwing your hands up in annoyance, you turned and walked to the door "yeah maybe it is killing me seeing her with him. But I'd rather her be happy than lose her completely by admitting anything."

"Even if it means she'll hates you?"

It's been almost a month since you last you talked to Robin. Since you messed up so bad She LEFT. Took too long to respond and never looked back. Somehow, missing her completely on such a small ship seems like she was avoiding you as well. Robin has always been good at that - if she didn't want to be seen. She'd be gone from view.

Roaming around the book store, you were surprised not to have seen her. Or a glimpse of her. A book caught your attention. Going over to it. Your eyes lit up

Picking up a book, you smiled fondly, remembering how it was one she wanted to find. How she spoke at night wanting to read it - how it reminded her of an old friend. Without a thought, you turned and bought it for her. Going back to the ship, you couldn't wait to see how she re- stopping. You blinked. You did it again. Bought something for her because of an old memory - or it reminded you of her. Lookind at the book you sighed. Putting it in your bag for safe keeping.

Guess you could put it on her bed when she wasn't looking. It wasn't like you HAVEN'T done that before. Walking again- you couldn't help but recall all the late night talks- the reading you used to have with her. Sighing you guessed you always loved her.

And probably always will lo- a loud bang echoed out behind you- followed by another. Hearing people scream around you. Blinking, everything felt off. A pain in your side looking down all you saw was red. Alarm bells rang inside your head. You've been shot. Gasping, you looked behind you, holding your side, seeing a marine standing gun in hand - smoke coming out of the barrel. Cursing loudly, you sprinted away.

"FOUND A STRAWHAT. ROUND THEM UP BOYS"

Screaming was heard all around you - echoing in and out. Everything hurt so bad. Running the long way to the ship to not cause any issues to them you panted - you were losing too much blood and fast. The hurried foot steps behind you carried on putting pressure on your wound with your hand. You tried to ignore how red it was - how it started to make a trail behind you.

Making too sharp of a turn, you lost your balance falling to the ground. Gasping you bit your lip to keep you from screaming in pain- you fell hitting your injury. Hearing a snort of laughter, you glanced behind you

"Really bad at running aren't yo-" Nami started before face paling- Robin, who came up to see the issue, looked horrified - rushing forward, she helped you to your back yelling something but all you could do was feel relieved. Feeling her touch again. Seeing HER again. How she looked healthy. You couldn't hear a thing she was saying just watch as she turned yelled soemthing to Nami who turned and ran.

Something hit your face. Blinking slowly, you realized she was crying blooded hands trying to wipe them away to see what she was doing better. Ah. That's what was happening.

Were-

Were you dying-?

You smiled bitterly - eyes closing too long for Robin's like that made her shake you - crying in pain - all you could make out besides the throbbing pain was her. Clear as day. "I'm sorry - please stay awake. Don't - Don't die on me"

Looking back at her. Your eyes roamed her features - trying to remember every line - every curve. Eyes softening- they blurred, seeing blobs of black. You wished you could see her smile one last time. You opened your mouth to finally confess.

"I love you. I.. I always have, I think - I just wanted you to be happy.. I'm sorry"

You weren't sure if she even heard you. But the way she started to sob more, saying something. Made you think she did hear you. You smiled. Closing your eyes-

At least you finally confessed

Waking up, you hated the automatic pain on your side. How was that the first thing you felt? Looking around, you noticed you were on the ship. In Choppers office. Blinking more, you felt weight in your hand. Looking down, your face flushed dark. Robin sat in the chair beside you, curled up on the bed halfway. Clinging to your hand as you'd vanish if she didn't. Looking at her face, you automatically saw it looked like she was crying.

"She hasn't left your side"

Jolting in shock, you held your side looking up to see Nami in the doorway. Smiling in relief "we were all worried about you. But -" pointing to Robin,"she was in a panic. Worried you wouldn't wake up.. she never left this room"

"..why?"

"Because she wanted to see you wake up. To talk to you." Nami went to say more but stopped seeing Robin move - as if waking up. "Talk to her," sending a look your way, she closed the door. Looking down at her, your eyes softened- realizing how badly you missed her. She started to stir more. Slowly opening her eyes, she leaned back, not letting go of your hand. Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she looked at you - frozen eyes widen - a look of anger, then happiness seeing you away

"Rob -" she cut you off, bringing you into a deep hug - you froze - seeing her shaking against you. Something hit your neck - blinking, you realized - she was crying. Gently, you wrapped your arms around her, holding her close, rubbing her back gently "its ok, Robin." You whispered

God- i- the first time I've seen you in God knows how long, and you almost died in my arms. " her eyes stung with tears clinging to you. Staring at her in shock- of how broken she looked over this.

"..I'm sorry"

"What for? For ignoring me? For almost dying?" She scuffed annoyed- that familiar calm exterior she usually has- gone. "What. Are you sorry for?"

"Everything" you started. Looking down regret filling you - "how I treated you. Breaking our friendship.. i- I am so sorry for what I did, Robin. " you choked out

"Tell me why you did it. The truth this time"

Tears falling - the regret you felt began to be too strong. Sobbing out. You confessed. You told her how you knew how she loved HIM. how you wanted her to be happy. So you pushed him to spend more time together. Then, finally, you choked - sobbing out how you truly felt for her.

How you love her.

Warm hands gently cradled your face, tilting you to look at her - gently wiping your tears away. You saw how happy she looked. Dispite the sadness you saw with it. "You love me..so you did all that?" Robin asked, going closer to you - seeing you nod, she gave a slight laugh."No wonder Nami kept -.. I love you too. " Robin said, smiling softly at you."I love YOU, not him.. its- its always been you"

You looked at her silently for a moment - as it clicked. Your face flushed darkly - Robin giggled, watching how you stumbled over yourself to her - "i- you love ME?" Nodding, she repeated herself, making you smile wide, melting in her hold. Before frowning, "You loved me this whole time and i -" putting a finger to your mouth cutting you off she shook her head

"I understand your concern. I... I was worried about you not feeling the same either." She smiled softly, glancing down to your lips a soft look in her eyes "may I kiss you?"

Nodding, she came close again - a hand on your face, she gently pulled you into a kiss- smiling into it you kissed back before Wincing in pain when she accidently grabbed the wrong side of your hip- pulling back she quickly apologized "it's ok" giving her another gentle kiss "it's fine. I'm ok - just.. just sore is all. " Glancing to the side flushed, you hummed lookinf around

"Oh -" blinking, you caught sight of the bag you had before. Smiling, you pointed at it - looking to where you pointed, she hummed confused. "I got you something - I- I never got the chance to give it to you." Standing, she walked over to the bad- glancing at you

Taking your bag, she opened it - seeing the book. Pulling it out, she smiled. "Of course you'd remember," she spoke softly, pulling it out - gently placing the bag down, and she came over gesturing you to scoot over. Once you did, she sat beside you. "How about we read it together, hm~?" Smiling, she let you cuddle up to her. Before she began, you touched her hand - humming - she smiled at you curiously

"So.. were ok right?"

The only exclusions to the ABO rule i guess would be Brook (genderless honestly, prefers he/him as per his biological body when. When he had one YOHOHOHO) and Chopper who is organically an actual animal who ate a DF, he’s a unique case because even tho his zoan gives him human qualities it doesn’t necessarily give him a secondary dynamic like one so i guess take these two as the outliers and thus have no actual scent qualities or biological traits

Anyway the answer is Luffy’s legitimately that guy lol hes gonna be King of the Pirates and really only someone with that kind of conviction can lead an all Alpha crew

But also bc hes a funny goofy guy who just wants to have fun

Zoro is a no brainer, nobody is surprised to learn the pirate hunters an alpha, he’s like the stock image representative whenever you google what does a typical alpha look like … lol (sorry)

Sanji also a no brainer, he may be slimmer in build but everything else from his attitude to his keen desire to provide its not rocket science

Nami is the head turner, rare to find female alphas and rarer that theyre as pretty as she is, shes often mistaken for a beta or omega and shes totally okay with this if it gets her things she wants or if it works out as a means to her ends haha

Usopp is also mistaken for a Beta bc his scent is more controlled — hes so much more polite, listen he grew up without a father figure, had a poorly mother and paraded about with a buncha kids, hes like the fatherly alpha aspect, but its tragic because he sort of stepped into that role himself as a child when he shouldn’t have which resulted in his quicker maturity and better control of his instinct

Robin just exudes mystery and power, theres no small wonder that when people find out that intensity radiating across the room isnt from Zoro or Sanji but Miss Nico Robin, perhaps she was never meant to present as an Alpha but after the trauma of Ohara perhaps that changed, she might be one of the first of her case

Franky is a funny case, considering hes a cyborg, he’s technically an Alpha but after all his augmentations he decided he didnt really care much for his dynamic and idk through the power of science and bad science hes more or less an anomaly where people can tell this person is an alpha but???? How? Franky doesnt care if people see him as a freak of nature hes having a good time vibing

Like, do you think Robin would've a big mental growth by then? I mean, in a way that she couldn't really be connected with her past-self in some way.

Howdy! Rough day if I'm being honest but this is a fun ask so we take those haha

I think that, especially from what we've seen recently, as apologetic as Olvia might ever be, I don't think even for a second Robin harbored any bitterness for her mother. To me she always came off as having the understanding that her mother did what she had to for the greater good, albeit at the cost of them being together. She didn't understand fully when she was 8, no, but she did grow up with her mother and Saul's words keeping her alive. I don't think she'd even question for a moment why she hadn't found her yet, because she knew she was good at hiding and it wouldn't have really done any good for either of them until Robin is where she is now with the Straw Hats. I think she would simply grab her mother's hand and tell her that she lived, just like she told her to. Against all the odds, she lived. I think that would be all that needed to be said at least for a while. She carries that torch of Ohara closer and closer to finding out what was lost and letting the world know it and I can only imagine they're both proud of one another. I never really got the idea that Robin was bitter about much of anything. She was exceptionally tired when we meet her. Her existence was exhausting. She was not angry, except for rare bursts when she was afraid. I don't think there would be anything for her to forgive, I guess is what I'm trying to say. She listened to her mother's last wish for her and it has given her the greatest friends (and family) she could have dreamed of. I don't see it ever happening, but in this hypothetical, I really just see love and understanding between the two.

Law was definitely not sulking and hiding behind the tangerine trees that for some reason grew on the Straw Hat Pirates ship. (Though his doctor side approved, it was a good source of vitamins).

He should have known that the peace wouldn’t last (well, he did know that, he just wanted to live in denial for a while longer) and it was with a great sigh he finally turned around to acknowledge Franky and Nico Robin who were the… first? Only ones?- to search him out.

Law was about to say something snappy about how he refused to be the one to give that captain of theirs “the talk” -and they couldn’t make him damnit - when he saw the look on Nico-ya’s face and promptly closed his mouth without any sound.

Well, I guess you could say that she was smiling pleasantly. Except for the fact it sent chills down his back. Still, Law was a Captain, he refused to be intimidated, regardless of who or what he was facing.

“What do you want?”

There was a threat there somewhere, Law approved, he refused to back down from anyone. Still, even disregarding the alliance, the fact he was currently trapped on their ship and not a crew member to call on if shit hit the fan or evening the battlefield, even disregarding all that; Law didn’t want to fight Nico Robin.

If it was from some sort of mistaken sense of solidarity, from being sole survivors of state sponsored genecide, or acknowledging her ability and intelligence, Law didn’t know. But he knew she was dangerous, just like he himself was dangerous, perhaps more through circumstance than temperament, but dangerous nonetheless.

“Well, we figured it would be beneficial for all parties involved if we could talk to you about… Luffy.” Franky said giving Law a thumbs up.

Law narrows his eyes at Franky. He could hear what the cyborg was saying, and what he wasn’t.

“I’m not giving that brat a crash-course in sex and intimacy just so I can have a discussion with him I in no ways wish to engage in!!”

“Well…” Franky starts before being derailed by Robin laughing softly to herself.

“Why not turn him down? I’m rather curious about why you haven’t even tried telling him his feelings aren’t mutual.” Despite her smile no longer being creepy, Law found her new smile even harder to face. Could a smile be all-knowing? Law sure as fuck didn’t like it.

Telling himself that he was just turning back around to look at the ocean - he wasn’t running away from having to look those two in their stupid, knowing eyes, oh no - Law muttered a “as if Straw hat-ya would listen.”

“Oi!” Franky immediately interrupted. “Luffy is a lot of things, but if you explained to him that you’re not interested he’ll listen- assuming you mean it.”

“And that’s the fucking problem!” Law snapped slamming his fist down on the railing.

“I DON’T have a problem with Straw hat-ya or I being intimate! What I don’t want to do is make this alliance any messier than it already is! I don’t want to be fucking responsible for his introduction into intimacy and sex! I swear the little fucker is going to succeed with what even the damn lead failed to do and make my hair turn white!”

Robins eyes grew wide and she made a gesture as if she was about to reach out and grab the man ranting in front of her before controlling herself and letting her hands rest at her sides.

“You think I’ll get fucking anywhere telling that menace you call a captain that I don’t really mind having someone like him as a partner, it’s just more logical to not engage?!?”

“Listen, I SUPER understand what you’re saying, I’m just trying to make you understand how Luffy works.” Franky said. “You’re not wrong in understanding that saying something stupid like that isn’t going to accomplish anything, but I don’t think you really understand how Luffy works! You can’t really put him in a group of other people and be like ‘Luffy’s just like these people’. Luffy is always going to be Luffy. It’s like the only constant thing that you can count on. That and logposes, I suppose.”

Law took a deep breath trying to get his temper under control. “Your point?”

“Right,” Franky laughed. “You unintentionally put a condition in place earlier. You won’t discuss the matter with Luffy until he learns about sex, Luffy wants you two to come to an agreement - is it or isn’t it something he can pursue with you - so Luffy will try to learn about sex.”

“I don’t se- “ Law started to grumble before being interrupted by Franky.

“Listen! Luffy is Luffy, he’s in a class of himself. He’ll hear what he wants to hear, see what he wants to see and do what he wants to do. As terrifying as that sounds, it still kinda always works out, because he’s Luffy. He struggles sometimes with stuff most people don’t have problems with and accomplishes feats no-one could’ve dreamed of. He’s different. Simple. But not necessarily stupid, well, most of the time.”

“Look, let me give you an example; when we were at fishman island, I had my shipwright master’s brother come and help us with re-coating the ship, and I told Luffy that when I explained who the stranger on the ship was. Somehow Luffy came to the understanding that he was a shipwright there to coat my brother… is that really the understanding you want Luffy to have about anything sexual?”

Law could feel the color drain from his face.

“If Luffy doesn’t feel like it concerns him, he’s not going to listen properly, and love it or hate it, but as long as you’re the only person in the world that makes it seem appealing to him, you’ll remain the only one most likely to be able to explain these things to him.”

Law grabbed his sword before running off swearing vehemently under his breath.

“Right!” Franky exclaimed. “Good talk - and good luck - I’m SUPER happy to have it over and done with!”

Squinting at the archeologist, Franky raised his shades and asked; “oi, you doing alright?”

Robin recoiled lightly before murmuring softly; “what? Oh, yes, I’m doing fine… just hoping that I’m wrong about something, for Traffy’s sake, if nothing else.”

Robin gave the shipwright one of her enigmatic, if slightly sad-looking, smiles before accepting the arm he offered her as they returned to their normal life on the Sunny.

What’s this? Frobin? In my silly little stories? It’s more likely than you think!

All jokes aside, I do love me some sideship Frobin… feel free to read into it if you want, to me it works platonically too.

Some side notes, Laws demands of a sexual partner isn’t based on gender or looks. It’s (some kind of) chemistry and being able to look at his partner as an equal (or the very least, not looking down on his partner, or being looked down upon). Due to that he doesn’t buy sex, he doesn’t do anything with his crew or patients. He wants equality so a person who he feels responsible for, someone he doesn’t respect, anything that makes it “unequal playing field” is a huge no-go for him.

His reluctance to be intimate with Luffy is part from him viewing Luffy as too young and inexperienced to make an informed decision, and is iffy about how much he feels like Luffy basically owing him a life-debt might be influencing his feelings on the matter.

His reason for finding Luffy appealing is because Luffy is strong, not easily influenced (as much as he’s frustrated with it), and he actually likes and respects Luffy as a person.

The reason Robin was all scary in the beginning is because she was pissed at Law for making Chopper decide that the crew would need a safe sex talk. No one wants to listen to a talk like that from the person you see as basically the little brother/baby of the crew.

Next; more fun with Law trying to make Luffy understand sex and intimacy and how it affects people! Maybe 🤔 this part and that part was originally supposed to be one part, after all… the switch in writing kinda threw me off tho so for now enjoy 😅
