This story has not been updated regularly until very recently, and It's been ongoing for almost a year. Are you on my taglist? Would you like to be?

I'm not sure how you would stumble across my content. No one has a strictly My Little Pony blog and then randomly reblogs my work. Everything I write is tagged to hell and back, and is exclusively shared within the whump community. Obviously something attracts you to whump, and I write whump. My blog is labeled Dead Dove: Do Not Eat. If you look in the bag and yell at me that you find a dead dove in there, that's not on me.

You have to be actively checking my blog, because you've sent me multiple anon messages, and check to see if I've answered them. When I don't within a few days, you still want my attention so you send more. You want to read the story, and you openly enjoy it, but you're having a hard time reconciling the judgement you make on me with the fact that you genuinely like my content. So you eagerly read it, but send me anon hate so you can still give yourself a big pat on the back and feel like you have a moral superiority. Your case isn't special. It is incredibly common, and certainly nothing new.

What if you could just enjoy the things you like? There's a whole community here that shares your interests and has fun interacting with it. You don't have to put it on your resume, but there's a space here that is appropriate for it. It involves sensitive content, sure, whump is a facet of horror. Torture scenes are incredibly common, even in mainstream media. Game of Thrones featured graphic rape scenes and incest, yet it has unbelievable mainstream appeal. It's okay to like content that involves mature themes and touches on sensitive topics, and the majority of people do.

A lot of people have a hard time being genuine about their interests, whether they carry a taboo or are just considered cringe. I realized years ago that by owning the things I enjoy, no one can hurt me with it. I was a superwholock teenager to the core. I am bad at ice skating and swimming! I'm a fat little boy and I dance funny!!! When you refuse to be ashamed, other people have no power over you. In fact, they start to feel more comfortable being themselves around you, too.

I'm not stooping to anything. I'm an adult with a busy life, who chose to post my writing online, fully knowing the possible consequences, and being fine with them. I have made interactive elements of the story so people can vote for what they want to see - and when I listed the crazy BDSM couple Lisa and Mark, they won the poll by a landslide. There are plenty of people who can distinguish fiction from the author's core morals, and I'm not interested in pandering to anyone who doesn't.

The shock value comment is interesting - if I'm just trying to shock people, why would I hold back? Why didn't I write a whole disgusting scene with the enema? Why have I stated that I will not be writing any kind of age play scenes in this series? There is a plot, character arcs, backstories... Sarge could not be more of a parody unless I had him wear a shirt that said "I am a caricature of the american military industrial complex, republican politics, imperialism, and the intersection it finds with men who struggle socially and turn to red pilled reddit and toxic masculinity as a balm". Seems a bit on the nose, though. Do you think all content that involves horror or mature content is only designed to shock?

[Another set of] Useful Tips When Coding for Beginners

Idk why but I love sharing tips on how to code for beginners. I've been a theme creator for a good one year and I always found new things that I love to share with everyone, particularly those who are still a beginner.

As of now, I have shared a lot of tips (I would say a total of 19 tips altogether) in different posts in which you can see below:

All the tips above are still valid. If you're new in coding (specifically in theme making), you may consider read the above tips for more useful tips!

1. Start your journey by creating a personal page first.

I think that if you are still new with theme making, I suggest that you start your journey by creating a page - about page, navigation page, tag page or any page, really. Here are the reasons why:

You will not feel too overwhelm - creating custom pages is a lot more easier than creating custom themes. Hence, the time taken in creating a page will be lesser than creating a theme.

You will familiarise yourself with the CSS and HTML codes- Since the design of these pages will be far more simple, you will get use of coding and can understand the mechanisms of coding better by the time you code your theme.

Less frustrating by the time you want to create your code - coding can be frustrating. But if you have a better understanding of coding throughout your time in creating a custom page or two, you will understand the theme documentation better (or at least, you get the idea how it works by looking at how other theme makers implement those documentation inside their code).

2. Try to create a simple looking theme first.

First thing first, I'm not saying don't be too ambitious. What I'm trying to say here is that for you first theme, try to create a simple looking theme in order for you to be familiarised with the blocks. More often than not, the more complex your theme is, the more divs it requires you to add. When there are a lot of divs involved, you will be confused and frustrated.

But if you start creating a minimalist theme, you will understand the usage the blocks better and also be able to grasp the gist of the block. Therefore, once you have familiarised with the blocks, you can create more complex looking themes.

3. Get use of using the appropriate HTML tags

Some theme creators may tell you that for a beginner, it is better for you to just use <div> for simplicity sake. I personally disagree about this matter. I think from the get go, it is better if you start to learn when to use the relevant tag as it will definitely save you a lot of time. For your information, here are the relevant HTML tag that I am referring to:

<main> - A tag for your main content of the theme (for example, for a contained theme, you use main for the 'container')

<aside> - A tag for your sidebar.

<section> - A tag for other section of the theme (ie: update/

<header> - A tag for your header

<footer> - A tag for your footer

<article> - A tag for your post styling

So the reason why I suggest for you to use these tags instead of creating div is to prevent yourself from getting confuse as to which is which. Example:

Both codes are essentially the same - there's a header and inside that header, there is a title, a description, an image, and also a line. However, when you look at the above codes, you see that the second code is easier to understand. and that the probability of you getting confused with the closed tag will be lessen. Example, if we refer to </header> we know that it is the closing tag of the header. But what about </div>? Which part of </div> does this closing tag belong to?

I know alot of people thought this volume was Weiss time to shine but her contribution has been marginal at best. Now she's in the same situation as Blake and Yang then their arcs were ended in volume 5. This means when can we expect her to be shipped with someone and be mostly useless?

The way that Weiss was benched this season and the way her seasons-long story was just glossed over is confusing and frustrating. I was really looking forward to seeing Weiss not only interacting with her family in meaningful ways, but seeing her - the Atlas born and raised girl who’s used to how everything works there - not considering things as big of a deal as the others, being something of a celebrity, coming up with solutions only an Atlas born person might know, her having a full arc with her brother Whitley, her interacting with her team more and relying on them for strength instead of being mostly a support character. Instead, Weiss’s arc with her family not only is resolved like it’s easy, and Weiss doesn’t have to grow at all to get it, but it also barely involves Weiss’s friends at all. Also was Weiss treated like a celebrity? Or recognized by the people of Atlas or Mantle? As the very public singer-celebrity daughter of Jacques Schnee? And also, Weiss has spent the past volume acting like Ruby’s sidekick, barely doing more than throwing in some quips and taking four minutes or so to talk to her brother, and then the rest of her story in volume eight is just, being an extra fighter, making the appropriate faces when the creators want us to be shocked or sad or smug. Her last thread with Whitley and Willow has been tied off in a very unsatisfying and weird way...

And oh gosh, you’re right, this sounds really familiar.

Caution, this post isn’t super kind to B//umbleby or the characterization of Blake in particular. Bees I’m sorry if this shows up in your tags, I tried my best and used filterable tags. This is all just my personal opinion.

As soon as Blake’s arc, which was tied up in the problematic White Fang/Faunus racism plot was mostly solved in volume five, the quality of her character started going down, but there was still something there for her until they killed her abuser, and then her whole character was more or less stripped away and she was left hinting at her past in awkward dialogue, doing nothing but emoting in the proper way, occasionally patting Ruby or the others on the back, and being one half of a non-developed ship. Blake has had two moments in the past two seasons that seem to even somewhat include real fleshed out character, and that’s when she decided to trust Robyn, convincing Yang to go along with it, and now showing anger because Neo ‘killed’ Yang. Both of these are framed - and taken by the fans - as ‘bees moments’ though, so it’s still all tied up in her romance.

Now we’ve had some of the same sort of thing for Weiss. Her arc was also tied up in the problematic White Fang/Faunus racism plot (considering her family’s history that Weiss was originally trying to ‘reclaim’ despite her own racism never being fully called out and addressed in a meaningful way.) Once Weiss had broken away from her abusive father and thus at least somewhat solved her arc by volume five, then her quality of character started going down in volume six, and then she had a couple moments with her family in volumes seven and eight - although again, solved in fairly unsatisfying ways. Outside of only a couple of semi significant scenes in the Atlas arc, Weiss has been regulated to emoting in the proper ways, occasionally patting Ruby or the others on the back, and being an extra fighter in the group.

It is possible that she’s going to get some kind of romance and then kind of just... Fall into the same kind of stuck position as Blake and Yang - CRWBY won’t commit to them enough to give real confirmation or make them grow their relationship in significant ways, which means that in order to get across that their is a relationship, they keep the two mostly together, have them seem to revolve around each other and care about each other more than anyone else, and diminishing the connections the other characters have with both people in order to make Blake and Yang’s connection seem clearer. To be completely fair to CRWBY, Yang has been allowed to branch out and have real and natural interactions both with villains (taking on Salem, protesting Emerald’s involvement) and teammates (arguing with Ren, talking with Jaune, acting like Ruby is her close little sister again!) This season, Yang has started to act like her own character again, but Blake hasn’t been allowed much growth. I’d say Weiss would more likely to wind up in the ‘Blake’ position than the ‘Yang’ position as far as being allowed to grow, especially because we’re already seeing her character start to kind of falter now that they’ve tied up her arc in a messy bow, and especially if she wound up with Ruby or Jaune, who I think are the most likely romantic partners for Weiss at this time. But there’s also the possibility of them starting to force a relationship between her and literally anyone else, including any of the three boys waiting in Vacuo, or Emerald, or Marrow.

As a quick note, please keep in mind that this is all speculation for fun and it really might not amount to anything. It would be kind of funny and frustrating both if CRWBY repeated how they’ve done Blake with Weiss, but it’s possible that they’re going to give Weiss a more significant arc and growth in season nine, put more focus on her relationship with Whitley and Willow once things cool down a little after all of season eight was equal parts ‘a crisis mode’ and a ‘sit around and wait for the plot to come around’ storyline. This post is kind of running on in length pretty badly, but here are a couple of ways I think Weiss could really shine next arc.

1. Have her and Yang trapped in the void together without Ruby and Blake. I’ve talked before about how Ruby’s ‘protagonist’ framing swallows up her friend group before, and how Blake and Yang’s relationship tends to swallow up one or both of them, as well as other characters having to be a bit more diminished to try and make bee moments more significant, and I think splitting up the team between Weiss and Yang, and Blake and Ruby could make Weiss grow more significantly and have her and Yang interact meaningfully again (which we haven’t gotten since season five.) In an ideal situation, I’d personally throw Jaune into the mix as well, since I’ve started to enjoy both the concept of him and Yang as friends and the concept of him and Weiss as friends. I think it’d really speak to Weiss’s character and show growth if she made the choice to go in after Yang, since Ruby is needed more in the world immediately (because of her Silver Eyes,) Penny is needed too (because of her Maiden powers) and Blake is needed at least somewhat (since she’s the one with the connections to the reformed Faunus group and Ghira and Ilia and all.) This could add a layer to angst, with Weiss proclaiming herself the least important, but also make Weiss’s character seem much more selfless, as she’s willing to risk her life and is willing to risk being alone in the Void herself even though her whole thing is loneliness, in order to save Yang. Jaune then surprising everyone by going with Weiss, and having an emotional moment where Ruby and Blake realize they have to trust Weiss and Jaune to do this and try and force themselves to still fight and work while they wait and panic and worry... That’s some good stuff! Of course, that would unfortunately bench Weiss’s relationships with her family, but I’d still be very happy with this outcome.

2. Have Weiss go on to Vacuo and not go after Yang, but be the one to rally the people, help them all to the city, deal with Theodore, etc. If Blake and Ruby went after Yang, or Blake, Ruby, and Jaune went after Yang, or just Ruby and Jaune, I think there could be some interest there. Not quite so much for the Void Team, but for the Left Behind Team. Having Weiss have to deal with being thrown into a leadership position when she’s not a leader at heart would be really interesting. Having her trying to hold it together and not let any grief, worry, or panic take her over so she can focus on her mission would be really interesting. We could have at least one member of Team RWBY facing the consequences of their actions and taking the brunt of it, while defending their choices and trying to find a place for millions of refugees. Once again, this could play into Weiss’s themes about loneliness, and Weiss could maybe even wind up resenting her team for leaving her and knowing it’s unfair and knowing they did what they had to do, but it would still create tension when they come back. And this sort of arc could also really push and flesh out her relationship and interactions with Whitley. There’s a lot that CRWBY could do with their relationship in this sort of scenario, but I would love it if Weiss’s themes of loneliness played a part in the early episodes of the volume, with her kind of secluding herself because she doesn’t have her friends and she thinks she’s alone, but then getting closer and closer to Whitley and realizing that she’s not alone, because she has her little brother who she loves. Idk, I just think it could be really good and sweet.

So... Yeah. Those are the ways I think Weiss’s character could grow and be fleshed out. Currently, I’m not happy with how she’s been, but there’s still hope for her. However, I will laugh so hard if she gets some romance and starts being one half of a pairing. XD

Evan’s a really chaotic dude, and as the series wears on he gets increasingly frustrated whenever the boys’ investigation stagnates, and add that on with how bad he wants to kill the entities hurting his friends and I think this song fits very well

Why I Chose It: well obviously the art metaphor is appropriate. also, the whole message of the song is “i’m better off alone, it makes it easier for me to thrive, being around people just makes things worse for everyone involved”, which is a big theme for steph as a character since she isolates herself because she doesn’t want to spread her “infection” and potentially get more innocent people killed.

Why I Chose It: well, because at first i was like “...surely this isn’t an actual t12 fansong?” when i heard it (it is not). seriously, though, way too many of the lyrics in this song are applicable to noah’s situation of being powerless, pursued by enemies he doesn’t have a chance against in a direct conflict, and the entire time being watched by uncaring strangers who see his personal hell as entertainment.

Why I Chose It: i dont have a really complex symbolic reasoning for this one. usagi is a necromantist (not necromancer, the distinction is apparently VERY important to him) who calls the zombies he reanimates his “friends” and this song is about making friends with murderers.

In regards to the sensory alteration, I mean things like seeing/hearing/etc things that aren’t there, mis-remembering or outright tampering with memory, etc. It’s kind of situation to situation on what gets me, but when it does it tends to hit me pretty hard. On unreality, this somewhat relates to the above, I use this as a catch all phrase for images, vivid descriptions, and most especially videos/gifs of things that basically don’t behave or seem to behave as they should. Sometimes, I’ve seen these things tagged as “trippy” and the like, but they those posts tend to be too…idk how to put it. Extra? What tends to get me is when things are going fairly linear and then suddenly go for a loop. That’s not the greatest description, but here’s a few posts that have triggered me the worst that I’ve slowly gotten used to.  There are also things which should seem fine or normal but aren’t. If anyone has a better description for this, by all means let me know! example posts [ one ] / [ two ] /  [ three ] + a weird image that also gets me for some reason. hmvent is actually a blog I use to store things that trigger me so I can slowly get used to them or try and figure out what it is / why these things get to me.

META 

Hayner is a young lad who resides in the sleepy Twilight Town. He is described as “impulsive and determined, and is always looking for a new adventure. He is bold to the point of recklessness…He gets bored easily during uneventful times… also easily angered/irked…thirsts for some kind of recognition…” During the events of KHII, he is 15, the same as Roxas/Sora. He has deep brown eyes, dirty blond hair and is a bit tall and, while still skinny, muscular for his age. He is the leader of his quartet trio including Pence, Olette and Roxas himself.

While he does have parents, he’s rather distant from them. While he does receive support from his folks, they were just never really there. Because of this, his loyalties lie greatly with his chosen family, his friends. He considers it his duty to help, lead and, if needed, protect them, even if he’d never admit as much even to himself. If any of his actions or ideas end up hurting someone he cares about, he takes it very much to heart, often beating himself up about it for weeks and weeks after.

Hayner, despite his hotheadedness and brashness, is a very observant leader. His tough guy act, while not entirely based on this, is partially to build himself up, make other less inclined to pick fights with him and his friends. Whether or not this works out, however, is certainly debatable. He also does his best to incorporate his friends’ wants and needs– or at least what he perceives these as– into his plans.

As oblivious as he may seem, he is quite mindful of the people around him. Whether it’s picking out the shady figure on that street corner or this one, or noticing some random kid’s not having a good day - he sees a lot of it, but often it doesn’t strike as a huge priority. He thinks things through a lot more than he’s credited for, but unfortunately, he doesn’t go through the whole process before starting his plan of action.

Hayner also isn’t exactly the most social person. He is outgoing and nice to people out of politeness and giving people the benefit of the doubt, but as a whole he’d much rather just stick with his friends. The only exception to this has been Sora, as he feels a “familiar vibe” about him, and therefore is also open to his circle of friends.

A couple more misc hcs below:

Is a very exceptional swordsman (at least with the training swords). However, his skills do not seem as outstanding compared to that of Roxas and other more major characters.

As much as he hates school, his best subject science. And although one would think he’d be a good athlete because he is competitive, he actually doesn’t have good PE grades because he doesn’t try if he doesn’t have to. The only way to get him to really participate is to make it a competition.

My Scary Past: Sanders Sides

I'm so not going to be able to remember things, I just watched it the once, I'll probably have to edit. Obviously spoilers. How do you do a read more on tumblr mobile?

YES NOT X-MAS, I've had enough of the songs from work. EVEN MORE YES, HALLOWEEN! This is perfect, because I recently got the horror movie themed Ice Nine Kills CD so I've been super Halloween, it's so good. Ahhh, I mean, I thought they were going to get into the 3 ghosts, which I guess kind of ghosts of Thomas's past? It works.

Oooh, Virgil's costume was great, I know there's a bunch of monster AUs, people came close. I've seen a few mummy Romans, Frankenstein('s monster) Logans, and literally everyone puts Patton as a werewolf. But themed creepy costumes! Amazing! Side note, Roman's puppet chin migrated onto Logan's monster chin. That thing was crazy huge. And I'm really happy that Logan was nitpicking Doctor vs. Monster, I'd expect nothing less.

Speaking of, I'm incredibly shocked that we didn't get Roman and Logan angst focus? And, Virgil was so freaking cringy try-hard with that attempted scare. Not good. Of course, minus the blood, I fairly regularly strike that pose at work. (I work in the kitchen industry as a cook.)

Logan used 2 vocab cards (is receipt a new slang? Really?), a "stupid things" notebook, and a bleeped curse. And he lied so bad about never being scared. Don't lie, Logan, you know what happens...really relieved when he lost most of the face on the costume, I had more trouble seeing his expressions and face lines than I did Roman's. But he dressed up, and got involved in group planning of him dressing up! Development! I loved the group "Yerkes-Dodson!" I wanted that to be a meme for a while, honestly. All that talk about failures inspiring success, HUH, Logan? Definitely not something you could take to, er, brain. Also he smiled at Virgil at the end? Pride for him using knowledge to make a point? For helping them understand? General happy??? At the beginning, he was concerned that Virgil wasn't being scary, so maybe proud that they settled his methods to be effective? Logan being the cosplay phase was appropriate because it's silly, fantasy, and a little bit into the obsessive, which Logan can get into.

Roman! Ugh, wonderful. Nice nicknames, what? Kind of back into a lot of old banter, in a good way. Them having the same face running gag was great, "I'm so modest!" The scream! Mocking Logan is still up, mocking Virgil is still a plateu. Roman being Vine was appropriate because his Creativity bloomed, and also putting himself so front and present definitely invokes ego.

Patton using Kylo Friend was great, it was sort of an in-between, which was accepted because Virgil's a nicknamer. He was trying so hard and his scene with Thomas at the end was good, but you gotta talk directly to Virgil about that, too. You're doing such a good job, and I'm glad that they fully explained why he doesn't want the cutesy stuff. But urgh, pantronize was fine, puns are okay, just not the actual patronizing. And overly long scream? Pawton, yes. Patton being the emo phase was appropriate, because he's so... not emo, but also he's emotions

Virgil, was that NO in the beginning dissonant? I think it was. He was kind of uptight this episode? I mean, obviously, he's a little insecure (aren't they all?) but he seemed so confident last episode, and open to Patton learning, while in this one he was kind of harsh to him. And he literally admitted last time that the scary thing was all an act! I need to see if every time they put down the idea that a phase was scary, was he satisfied or frustrated? Blasé dismissal or interest, until they dismiss what his role used to be. Fascinating that he was in charge of the sort of creative power. Gee, I wonder what dark side is opposite of Roman. /s

When they did the Vine phase, I actually thought to myself, "Well those aren't terrible, except for those vines where he's just singing to himself- oh, yep, that's it." Thomas getting hit again running joke. That's also really harsh, dude, not cool. But love the hiss, even though I can out-hiss him. But, uh, girl phase and fedora phase huh?

End card! Thought he was going to go for Phantom. I know that some people are uncomfortable with him, but I enjoy Deceit, he's such a fun character, although within the universe, ahhh? What? He's talking about the other Dark Sides, maybe. I'm betting the tag was actually Scrappy Doo. That'd amuse me more. Ooh, so creepily foreboding. Also he was still in Patton's normal spot. Interesting. Their relationship is really pretty much what I expected from what I saw at the end of Can Lying Be Good, but maybe Deceit is a little more...dorky. That overdone laugh, haha, wow what a loser. Trying to figure out if the "maybe you can be rid of us all" was a lie via sarcasm or if I've gotta reverse it a little? Idk, really excited for whatever's next, everyone did an amazing job on editing, graphics, so many costumes. What a great team!

But most importantly, PET SPIDER! Yes! Is it supposed to be a real tarantula in-universe or just a fake one that creates webs somehow?

honestly i’m no longer sure where i even left off when i read the manga x years ago, i feel like i may have dropped it because i didn’t care for the boring military shit going on for quite a while, but i feel like i even distantly remember satou being beheaded in the manga...? but anyway i’m gonna (re?)read the whole manga now i guess. overall manga verdict: it had a distant, clammy feel to it, but not bad; the voice for nagai’s ghost was real good; they did a good job with the cgi animation, but it definitely lacks something compared to the art in the manga; the only good OP was the first one; and yeah idk my feeling toward this anime is pretty neutral.

FIRST: Alternia or Beforus or some type of AU?

Name (preferably include how you came up with it and why): ??? Bombyx (I can’t think of a first name but her last name, Bombyx, is the higher classification name of silk worms and Silk moths.)

How about Thanka for a first name. A Thanka is a Tibetan Buddhist painting on silk. Thanka Bombyx. 

Description: Long hair that is partially tied back with a strip of silk in order to keep it out of her face while she works. Her clothes, although not fancy, are very high quality. They consist of a short sleeved shirt and a pair of shorts with a silk belt (that she made herself). She wears regular shoes but the bottoms (and tops) are often stained because of past projects she had chosen to dye.

I’ll get to the design stuff later! But I’ll comment here that while I’m uuusually not a big fan of fantrolls that put their hair up in Alternia, I think an exception CAN be reasonably made for her because of her hobby. Silkweaving with hair hanging down isn’t a great idea. 

Age: 7.5 solar sweeps (16.25 years)

Strife Specibus: N/A (uses her psionics. if she was forced to use a weapon she’d use her psionics to hit the enemy with part of her loom or a random tree branch. As long as it’s heavy.)

That’s fair, since Sollux doesn’t have an assigned strife specibus either. Though I might recommend for convenience just giving her Silkkind or something. It allows her a pretty versatile weapon in case of danger!

Fetch Modus: Trademodus. // I haven’t really given this concept much thought but I was thinking something along the lines of having to trade an item to get an item of equal or less value that is within the modus? I thought of this because silk has been traded for centuries and since she’d have a surplus of silk one can imagine her specibi being filled rolls of silk and her saying “why don’t I have anything important in here???????”

Yes, I definitely get the idea of this! Because of her silk theme, a trade-based modus is a great idea. Maybe she has to barter with the modus for what she thinks the item in her inventory is worth, and if she tries to lowball the modus on the trade it might lock her out temporarily? Items of higher value could require multiple items in return! 

Blood color: Saffron

Saffron might be a liiittle too saturated and might start straying into mutant territory. I think we should go with satin sheen gold! Both as a reference to Thanka’s textile theme and because it’s more mellow. 

Symbol and meaning: 

 The constellation symbol for Musca or “the Fly”. I connected this to ???’s desire for fun, freedom, adventure and “flight”. I also thought it would be ironic considering fully matured silk worms, despite having wings, do not have the ability to fly.

Really good and clever! You always manage to have such neat concepts. 

Trolltag: commercialAmusement

I do like this tag. textileTrader might also be a good one to consider, or ooh I quite like the idea of auspiciousTycoon. 

Quirk:  She uses double B’s (always in capitals) to represent wings. Sometimes her words tend to fluUuUuUuUtter. She only does this occasionally when either trying to stress a word, convey an emotion, or emphasize an adjective (it’s also only exclusive to vowels). “CA: the quUuUuUick BBrown fox jumps over the laAaAaAaAazy red dog! CA: sounds dumBB!”

Good quirk! As long as you definitely use the letter extension sparingly, it works very well!

Special Abilities (if any):  psionics 

Lusus: A large, two-headed silkworm that often disappears. Said silkworm is her source of materials. She tries to keep in in a cage but it manages to escape a lot. She spends the better part of her “mornings” (whenever she wakes up) to feeding her lusus copious amounts of leaves to 1. Keep it happy and healthy and 2. Have it produce silk. (It later pupates into a silk moth… and then instantly dies. Kinda like Terezi’s custodian. Except… a moth… and a worm instead of an egg. idk.)

A good idea! The lusus going into the cocoon and Thanka having to wait it out… and then getting to prototype her dead mothmom! I wonder if the pupating process would produce some special silk that Thanka could use?

Hive: Her hive is located on the outskirts of the troll equivalent of a city. It looks rather small but in actuality is located on a slope. Below the house is a cavern with a secret grove of trees where she “works” and keeps her lusus. The hive itself is kept neat but not necessarily clean. Her room holds many board games (located everywhere from the floor to her bed), folders with “toOoOoOop secret!” written on the tops, and a large loom with a (most likely incomplete) project on it.

Does she house her lusus down there in hopes that she won’t escape? That’s pretty fun.

Personality: She’s crazy. That’s all there is to it. She is extremely fun loving and loves to encourage others to have fun as well. She’s optimistic to a fault as she encourages others to let loose in situations that call for seriousness. Despite this she has the talent of being able to encourage the most self-conscious troll (coughPonikeNimbuscough) into trying something new, or turn a negative situation, one where everything possible has gone wrong, into a fun one. She a natural leader if she applied herself and knowledgeable in economics. She’s stingy and cold when it comes to the topic of money; one would even say she is the tiniest bit greedy. Though it doesn’t happen often she can sometimes snap at others if they won’t just go along with her ideas as this aggravates her and triggers migraines.  

I’ve criticized it in other reviews before, but ‘crazy’ as a personality trait isn’t particularly useful, informative, or overall good. The other stuff you’ve put for her is great, though! She’s energetic, vivacious, and all that lovely stuff. I like that you’ve put the quirk of her being greedy in there, though. Does she hate to share? Does she hate lending money or get really prickly about being paid back on time? Is she a very demanding person? All very good stuff!

Interests:  Her interests include her “business”, playing games (mostly board games), and convincing her “friends” to do ridiculous things in the name of “fun”. Her business itself consist of making silk textiles. Her lusus supplies her with the silk and she creates the textiles using her loom and other tools. She sometimes dyes the fabric but every time she does she makes a mess of her hive. She sells these fabrics at a troll equivalent of the black market. (I wasn’t sure if selling silk was ‘legal’ in Alternia or something like that so this kinda just happened. I’msosorry). She also has the tendency to create ludicrous plans that look like they came from an adrenaline junkie’s “DO NOT ATTEMPT LIST”. In other words, her definition of “fun” is a little twisted. In her free time she plays board games to entertain herself. (Though it isn’t very noticeable she has the tiniest duality complex. She makes two copies of each of her plans and if she does dye her fabric she creates two of the same color at a time.)

I think she could sell on the black market! We don’t know much about Alternian culture yet, so! Maybe! Perhaps she’s in competition with a highblood’s silk production and so she has to sell on the black market to avoid danger. Also maybe for her duality complex, you could focus more on symmetry? Maybe she really likes things to be the same on either side, which could explain why she dyes two fabrics at once. 

Title: Sylph of Breath

I think Sylph of Breath does make a bit of sense given her tendency towards adventure, but you also focus a lot on her optimism and positive nature. I think, really, Hope might fit her better. Sylph of Hope- passively creating hope for herself and those around her while actively crushing pessimism and negative ideas! It can also explain why she’s so reckless by nature- she’s completely destroying and ignoring the possible consequences. 

Land:  Undecided

If you want to play to her economic and textile strengths, maybe you could give her a planet that is something like… a quest involving creating and designing clothes to satisfy the denizen and then trying to sell the silks to this denizen for An Appropriate Price. Maybe there could even be like rivers of dye around. Land of Dye and Commerce, perhaps? LODAC?

If you want to try to push her to grow a little as a person and learn to understand consequence and also not be as greedy, maybe you could give her a quest where a lot of her consorts are relying on her and where she has to give out products to them willingly? Land of Charity and Reliance?

Head: I’ve given her hair that sort of resembles the shape of a silk moth. As I mentioned, I allowed her to have her hair up. I gave her horns shaped somewhat like a silk moth’s antennae, also. I gave her smiley eyes that look very cunning and kind of wild, and I gave her lipstick. 

Torso: I gave her a silky shirt (all her clothes are silky, actually). And I put her symbol on it! She also got a sash in her blood color. 

Legs: Some nice silky grey pants. She also has black business shoes, with soles the same color as her blood (except for the parts that are stained but I didn’t draw those). 

I love her a lot and think she goes great with your trolls so far!! Thank you for sharing.

just for future reference and in case anyone was curious i’m going to explain what the hell i was on about re: some stuff in my writing tag

skipping things that are obvious or self-explanatory but if you’re puzzled by something i wrote and i didn’t explain it here then feel free to ask i guess

disgust - i thought of vomit immediately and then wrote about the last experience i had with a friend who was sick. i don’t actually remember which friend this was anymore. “you’re never going to die ever again” i’m not sure about but i think this may have been referring to how awful stomach sicknesses are and how they can literally be so bad they make you feel like you’re dying? that’s a guess

aether - thought of “ether” instead which is very volatile so that’s how i got onto the theme about exploding. i think the rest was just vague associations

pincushion - human pincushion. i guess someone who has bled out completely

aura - you know how they talk about people having colored auras? i just picked a color and went from there. don’t know what “i can taste it under my fingernails” means even remotely but if this is from when i worked in produce/floral i constantly had plant matter under my fingernails so maybe that. am reading “you look lovely, by the way. very fresh.” in GLaDOS’ voice for some reason and not sure if that was what i had in mind when i wrote it

mint leaves - catnip is in the mint family and some people says humans can get a mild high off smoking it

indie - this was about seeing mother mother live. the “he” is ryan

wind - probably masturbation but trying to explain the trip from point a to point b that i made here would get really complicated if i’m even recalling it correctly

lamp oil - amnesia: the dark descent. lamp oil is a resource in that game. player character hallucinates bugs and grinds his teeth when he spends too long in the dark

bombs - boss fight wheatley. the track that plays during that battle is called “bombs for throwing at you”

cucumber - i was thinking of items you could buy together at a supermarket that would disturb the cashier. a single cucumber, rope, and a paperback romance novel sends some interesting implications i think

🙌 - reference to a (nsfw, i won’t link it) fanfic about sans smoking. i have a massive smoking kink so i think you can see why i’d find that emoji appropriate

syringe - this is a reference to a short story i wrote in high school. the association is that i think syringes were used to administer drugs to the protagonist

sting - musical artist sting has got an album called brand new day and this was written thinking about the album art

lunar theatre - i’ve explained this one before but i wrote this while really sick around the time i first got diagnosed with lyme disease. i was sleeping most of the time and tired whenever i was awake. at the time i was also taking ativan (among other medications) and it made me very sleepy and out of it. the title comes from an art installation i saw once which basically looked like an artificial shoreline, which is where the ocean/water imagery comes from

paris - this was a joke about egg hatching in pokemon x/y (the most efficient way to do it is to bike in circles repeatedly around the game’s version of the eiffel tower)

nature - i’m not sure how i got to talking about gelatin molds but have you seen some of the ones from the fifties and sixties? truly horrifying

berry - early on in x/y you’re put in charge of a berry field and then later you become champion (the league is at the top of a mountain). there are curtains in the champion’s room. idk i just thought about becoming champ and then abandoning the berry field since that’s basically what i did in-game

dogs - pretty literal, this is just my experience with pet dogs

q - this is a reference to a song from goddamn sesame street

teacup - malva has a butler, who presumably serves her tea sometimes. he battles you on her behalf once and his team is pretty powerful, but of course she’s elite four and would have him beat

guitar - at the time there were a lot of “wonderwall” memes that’s what i thought of

pine - pine trees, christmas trees, their lives are cut short but they get to dress up fancy for a few weeks, i don’t know

touch-me-not - fanfic i plotted out once but never actually finished writing. in it, bryony and celosia are using one of those remote-control vibrators (celosia was the one wearing it, and bryony had the remote, iirc) but if you remember team flare also used a remote to control the ultimate weapon and i loved the idea of getting the two remotes mixed up. all the higher-ups (save bryony and celosia, of course) are playing with the remote thinking it’s broken and trying to get it to work. meanwhile poor celosia is dying and the only one who notices is malva, who is the “she” in this piece, who deliberately starts messing with the remote to get a reaction out of bry + cel. i don’t remember how this fanfic was going to end but i think probably celosia would excuse herself to go to the bathroom (to, ahem, take care of herself) and malva would follow her in and then idk they’d fuck. listen i’ve had worse ideas

nightshade - i’m not sure how i got from the prompt to my fill but the fill is definitely about another fic i was working on involving a trainer who experiments on eevee trying to discover new eeveelutions

knives - my abuser had a “suicide attempt” (not really, he didn’t do anything except think about it, but that’s how he classed it iirc) where he planned on using a knife. also he wrote (bad) poetry once comparing me to a knife because idk i was mean for not wanting to fuck him probably

cake - it’s 2007 bro. memes bro. this was about portal bro

gameboy - self-explanatory i think but this was specifically a goof on ben drowned even though a lot of video game creepypasta start out this way

tree - based off of something that happened with me and my best friend when i was eleven or twelve

cookie - i got a baby doll for christmas when i was a little kid and gave it to my younger sister bc she liked baby dolls and i didn’t. she named that doll cookie. this was general feels about being the Bad Child who Wasn’t Feminine

paint - straightforward again but this is about my parents’ house, the one we moved into when i was a young teen and where they still live with my little sister (and, currently, me). it was initially painted white and we repainted yellow a few years ago (i think after i had moved out to go to college). also that house still doesn’t feel like home to me in the same way our old house did

boots - god this is gonna take a lot of explaining but in the underland chronicles, second book, gregor (protagonist) is separated from his baby sister (nicknamed boots) after, iirc, the boat they’re in capsizes and they get washed into the nearby catacombs by the waves. he assumes she’s drowned since she’s a toddler and can’t swim. it’s basically his blue screen of death moment and he spends the next part of the book feeling totally dead inside, like a machine, no emotion no empathy. this scene fucked me up bad when i first read it aged about nine

freckles - i think this is obvious but just in case, this is about me (formerly) hating my freckles

egg - aforementioned fic about eevee experimentation was maybe going to involve unethical forced hatching of eevee eggs by cracking them open before they’re ready. i was basically thinking of every sick thing you could do to a pokemon to try and force an evolution

fairy - same fic. the protagonist has a shiny eevee that she gives special treatment and thinks is going to evolve into something special bc no evolution method she’s tried has worked on it. it was to be revealed later that her “special” eevee had actually just swallowed an everstone, and, immediately upon operating to remove said everstone, eevee evolved into sylveon

orange - as a small child i was allergic to oranges. the only memory i have of having an allergic reaction was breaking out in hives and going down our creaky old staircase, which felt big and intimidating to me as a little kid, to tell my parents about it

yuri - i thought of a favorite f/f pairing of mine, bryony/celosia, and in particular the scene that got me to ship it. in that scene, you battle celosia (who acts very woe-is-me upon being defeated) and bryony immediately springs to her (girl)friend’s defense

mitochondria - i learned the word from the sequel to a wrinkle in time, in which charles wallace gets really sick with some sort of mitochondrial disease and his older sister meg tries to save him by like astral projecting inside his mitochondria or something. god that book was weird

a gigantic rubber duck - when she was a baby someone gave my sister a gigantic rubber duck (which she adored, i think we still have it somewhere) and so this was about how i felt about having a new sibling

electricity - eevee fic again. rival character in the fic was an electric-type trainer. this was about the convention of trainers locking eyes and then battling

feverish - fevers as sex metaphor somehow??? i guess because fevers, like sex, often leave you sweaty. eleven was when i had my first wet dream and eighteen was when i listened to that “naegi with a fever” audio and got real gay

anger - metaphor again. i really did make a glass paperweight one time, on a class trip to a glass museum. my abuser and i were off-again with our friendship at the beginning of that trip and on-again by the end of it but there was still, i think, unresolved anger on both sides. that’s the association. i don’t know how to explain what i was thinking here beyond that

mosquitos - “petty annoyances” is just what i think of mosquitos and then i guess i just went from there. “bigger than i am but you know when to kneel” might have been my abuser again. he was, indeed, bigger than me but he got down on his knees begging me to be his friend again right at the end of things between us lol. honestly it was the most compelling thing he ever did

laundry basket - i thought about dirty laundry and then about worrying my clothes smelled dirty or that i smelled dirty and like, obsessively bathing because someone wanted to come over and have sex with me and i was just barely not a virgin at that point and had no idea what i was doing and was freaked out over the whole thing

cow - i took a year of spanish and for some reason the only thing i actually learned was how to say “where is the cow” and “the cow is here” which are not actually useful phrases in most contexts
