artfight im sorry but… supaman…
Superman, Lex, Batman, and his 57 children are all designee by Raz @supercritters !!
For the guys I made up for the MAWS side- I made Jimmy a horse and Lois a serval!! I could also totally see the MAWS Jimmy being a zebra lol. Lois is a serval for the big ol’ ears because you know she hears everything for her scoops 🫶
I did default back to my origins with Kara as a dog but I think it fits her character arc,,, Kara,,, mi vida,,
ermmm go watch My Adventures with Superman!!!

#reblog#critter art#superman#batman#lex luthor#lois lane#jimmy olsen#supergirl#BRAVERR YOU CAN'T BE STOPPED!!!!#bald ass lex leopard... the soup... the bat and his batlings.... so good

Seeing your post on your main I know I gotta ask for you to design Hellcat
Patsy Walker my beloved
Patsy Walker - Hellcat
It's not lazy I got plenty of reasoning! However it is kind of a cheat because I'm just reusing the Warriors design I made for Patsy (as a part of my PatsyJenJack polycule, of course), since I like it a lot. She's a torbie
Of course, her name being Hellcat, there is a pretty clear connection between her and cats. Cats have historically been seen in Western culture as associated with witchcraft and devilry, with Patsy's connections to Hell
Patsy was originally an Archie-style 50s teen drama comic character who was bought by Marvel and turned into a superhero, and I like using the domestic cat to represent that fluffiness and cuteness as a part of her early history. Think mid-century Valentine's cards, with kittens in big red bows
As her personality becomes more sharp and mischievous as a superhero, it's still fitting with cats
On a more grim level, I chose the domesticated cat in part because of her controlling, abusive husband in Hellstrom, and how he really treats her like a 'pet' a lot of the time - something that he owns and covets. In fact a lot of the men in her life treat her this way, and take advantage of her emotional vulnerabilities and friendliness. Aw Patsy you really deserve better
#ask#anon#art#supercritters#marvel#patsy walker#hellcat#her warriors name w the original design is 'flamestride'#i love you patsy......

lex luthor!
I watched the Superman movie for the second time today so heeere's Lexy
Lex Luthor
Although Supercritters Superman is a polar bear, he has always been strongly associated with dogs, and he and Lex have that very classic "sneaky smart vs big strong" dynamic that lends itself well to cats and dogs, so I wanted Lex to be a cat of some kind. Plus the moment in the new movie where he knocks a cup off the table is soooo kitty
However Lex is also often depicted as very fit and in-shape (he's just being compared to you know, Superman) so I didn't want to make him a Sphynx cat. I was considering a lion, because of all his desire for power and greed and condecension that reads very well for male lions, but that felt a little too tough for him. Compromising, I moved down in size a bit to leopard, which are smaller but still very strong animals. They're also extremely solitary, and skilled ambush predators. And besides; if Lex is hairless (baldass), it's hard to tell the difference between a leopard and a lion. I feel like he'd play this up out of insecurity
Lex Leopard

What animal would the Brave and the Bold Riddler be?
Cobra :3 I love the way his widow's peak dips so deep inward, the shape it makes made me think of a cobra's crown!

I LOVED IT A LOT!! For me, I mostly define the quality of superhero movies by how much fun I'm having (exception made for ones like The Batman that take themselves seriously, in a good way) and I had a BLAST watching this movie. The dialogue did stray towards overbearing quippage as this genre tends to have sometimes, but it was balanced with a lot of genuine emotionality and really good performances. Excellent portrayal of Clark Kent, good-heart sweetie Superman feels like such a breath of fresh air. Also as a #girlfromkansas I appreciated the very close-to-accurate Western Kansas accents for Ma and Pa and the message about them as his true parents. Aww :)
And I admire how willing it was to be blatantly political about Israel and Palestine as an allegory and firmly standing against so much of the pro-Israel war machine propaganda in the real world right now. Superheroes exist as allegory and examination of the world around us; it's a welcome change from sponsored-by-the-military Marvel shlock.
AND OF COURSE. A HUGE WIN FOR METAMORPHO FANS EVERYWHERE. I also loved Guy and Mr. Terrific and Hawkgirl
Raz supercritters, what do you think of the recent Superman movie?
I am going to see it next Tuesday 👁️ I’ll reblog this with my opinion then!

I'd love to see Mr Sinister !!
Genuinely the funniest X-Men villain and I dare anyone to prove me wrong. You can't beat him.
Nathaniel Essex - Mister Sinister
There's a lot of directions I could've gone in for him, but I decided on a sheep because of one specific gag - famously, the first animal to successfully survive to reproductive adulthood as a clone was Dolly the sheep
Although Dolly wasn't a Suffolk sheep, I went with them over Finn-Dorset both because it's a very English breed, and I also like the sort of ominous appearance their dark faces give them. It's like an inverse of Sinister's white skin and dark hair
In a subtler fashion, I also like the contrast between the sheep symbolism of docility, innocence, and following others versus his sadistic personality, because I feel Sinister often gets away with his insane crimes by playing friend and fool to others. He's not really the 'take over the world' Magneto type, more of the 'get you to trust me so I can do experimental surgery on you' type

ouuuuhhhhi dont know if anyone has requested him yet but,, plastic man?
One of my faves, he was on my list early on :]
Patrick "Eel" O'Brian - Plastic Man
Eel
But seriously, I did consider a few other wiggly animals for Plas but it really couldn't be anything other than an eel for me. I love that it's both accurate to his power and representative of his original slimy criminal personality
Out of various eel species, moray are often used for undersea villains in cartoons. I thought viper moray and giant moray are a bit too big and 'tough' for Plas, who even as a criminal is generally portrayed as slippery and silly. However ribbon eels are a species of moray, and much more slender and flashy which fit him well
#ask#supercritters#art#dc#eel o'brian#plastic man#my lovely plas... i miss him (plastic man no more does not count)

requesting queen atlanna my dear friend atlanna :)
I really appreciate that Atlanna barely has 50 appearances in her 60 years of history but all of those appearances include some insane shit. Here's your strange ocean woman <3
Queen Atlanna
My Aquaman is a sea lion and I wanted her to be somewhat related, so I stuck with pinnipeds
Leopard seals are famously one of the most aggressive and scary species of seal. Have you seen them open their mouths? It's like a dragon. All I know about Atlanna is what I was told by a reputable and excited source but it seems fitting for her, someone independent and perhaps endearingly violent
If only Atlanteans in comics were ever actually more than 'normal human except underwater'... sigh... we could have actual fish people DC and Marvel you cowards
#supercritters#ask#art#dc#queen atlanna#really excited to draw aqualad now that i've established the aqua-s animal theming

Could I request my boys Tony Stark and/or Doctor Doom? :D
Iron Man is on my list, but I don't have an idea for him just yet, so it's just THE GREAT AND POWERFUL DOOM for now.
Please excuse the jank in this drawing and the upcoming ones, I just got a new art program and I'm still getting the hang of it.
Victor Von Doom - Doctor Doom
I wanted Doom to be some kind of heraldic/classic European animal, because of how much of his backstory and design is tied into imagery of that stately, Old World rulership
Specifically I liked the nobility and wilder kingship (versus the lion) that's generally associated with European wolves. And of course they are awesome powerful hunters
The Eurasian gray wolf specifically is from Eastern Europe, closer to where Latveria is fictionally located, and have historically suffered a huge loss in population due to human hunting. In many areas they were completely eradicated
From a meta sense, I kind of liked that wolves are such a popular and common furry species, because there's really no Marvel villain as early or iconic as Doctor Doom
