You had to admit he was romantic, and his words made your heart skip a beat. Sure, you’d had many flings and lovers, but no one before him ever complimented your skills and knowledge. No one cared about what your interests were. Certainly no one had ever told you that you looked perfect. You were an avid romance reader, but you’d come to terms early in life that people didn’t really act the way they did in romance novels. But, maybe just this once, you would suspend your disbelief. Just for the season.

“Well, ain’t you sweet,” you drawled at him. 

You drank down the (quite refreshing) lemonade, and handed him back the glass. You turned your back and sauntered towards the shed. Mihawk was still staring at you, and you were eating it up. You opened the door to the shed, winked at him, and went inside to get another shirt. This whole thing was worth it to see Mihawk’s reaction. Seeing Mihawk blush was like seeing a unicorn in the wild. Something you never thought you’d catch and you wanted to watch until it was gone. 

When you came back out, he was gone. Maybe you’d gone too far? Oh well. Fortune favors the bold, after all. You just laughed to yourself and went back to work. 

Mihawk POV

Perhaps you were an assassin sent to kill him. You had almost given him a heart attack. It seemed your carefree attitude extended towards romantic engagements as well as fishing. He was not such a brute that he would touch you (or your lovely nipples) without your permission but dear gods did you test his restraint. If he had not left, he would have thrown you in the nearest pile of hay and had his way with you. Though, he was traditional at heart. He wanted to kiss you as the beginning of a romantic tryst between you. Now that you had shown your interest, he would do the same.

He did not see you for the rest of the day, various important tasks had occupied his time. After the heat of the day, he sought you out once more. You were sitting under the awning of the shed in a rustic style chair made of driftwood. There was another nearly identical chair next to it. Mihawk surmised that you had made the chairs, but didn’t understand why. He was accustomed to you sitting in the dirt. 

“What’s cookin’ good lookin’,” you said, not taking your eyes off the evening sky. Did you have kenbunshoku haki? “Take a seat, watch the storm roll in with me. Weather’s gonna break.” 

“Why do you engage in activities like this?” he asked sincerely. He wasn’t mocking you, he really wanted to know. He sat down in the chair matching yours.

“Like what?”

“Ones that have no purpose, no reason.”

“Not everythin’ needs a purpose. It’s enjoyable. That’s all there is to it, you silly man.”

Mihawk had been called many names in his life. Cruel, brilliant, butcher, savage, resilient, intense, determined, a devil sent from hell, and numerous others. But never, not once, not even as a child, had anyone, ever ever called him silly. He didn’t know how to feel about it. He sat down in the chair.

“I admit, I am surprised that you crafted these. Of course, the workmanship is excellent, as is all your work.”

“Thank you dear, I’ve been collectin’ driftwood.”

“May I ask, why did you make these? You favor sitting directly on the earth.”

“Yes, but you don’t. It’s called a compromise, stud.”

“That is…considerate, thank you.”

A warm feeling arose in Mihawk’s chest. You’d made chairs because he didn’t like to sit on the ground. Generally, others were not thoughtful towards him. Being as powerful as he was, people feared him or wanted to overthrow him. But people weren’t mindful of his likes and dislikes. He felt that you saw him as a person. He sat down - he was not concerned about the quality of the furniture, since you were the one who made it. Your work was always top notch, even meeting his high standards. 

Mihawk hummed, then fished out an invitation from his jacket pocket and held it between his fingers. 

“I have received this invitation to a gala at Crocodile’s new residence. He has re-established himself and wishes to make a grand debut. I have always declined such events. However, I would like to attend this event. With you.”

“With me? I’m not sure I’m the best choice for something so elegant.”

“You are my only choice.”

Y/N POV

Did he have to be so dashing? So debonair? So charming? You felt a little nervous - you hadn’t been to a gala in..well, ever. You didn’t know who Crocodile was, but if he was sending invitations to Mihawk, he had to be someone important. Your palms were sweaty - you were a just little country mouse - what did you know about swanky galas? But still, the prospect of traveling with Mihawk seemed exciting. 

“Why, Dracule Mihawk, are you askin’ me out?” you said with a sly smile.

“It would seem I am,” he said with a tender look, standing up. He stood before you and held out his hand. You took it, and he pulled you into his body. Your heart was thumping so loud you were sure he could hear it. He wrapped his arm around your waist and you could feel his corded muscles holding you steady.

“What is your answer?” he asked, bringing his perfectly groomed face down to yours. You looked into his eyes, and whispered “alright.”

“Then it’s a date,” he said with a smile. He then dipped you back, cradling your head in his hand, and kissed you deeply.

Still with you in the wait and see approach. I need to be confident that relationship is bones and there won't be signs of it until at least the premiere.

that’s where i’m at too. i also just think someone needs to remind tim minear of what exactly his job is. his job isn’t to stir up fandom drama (and then complain about drama that he himself is partially to blame for but then refuse to directly call out the toxic ones) his job is to tell a story; but he decided that wasn’t what his job was the moment he scrapped 7b to rewrite it into whatever that mess was rather than just giving us an (admittedly) rushed backhalf of the season, and then open s8 up for NEW content.

No instead, he’s rehashing old storylines (gerrard), driving (literal) dead plotlines even further into the ground by creating new elements that there has never been any evidence of before (shannon), as well as actively giving the toxic fans he complained about the ammunition they need to continue being toxic (bt).

it feels like when he came back, he got this kind of god complex and is deciding to use 9-1-1 as his dollhouse for his wacky “masterpieces” that aren’t even that well thought out, and thinking that he needs to come up with these convoluted crazy plots to keep audiences interested, when most of the fandom have been vocal about how they miss the s2-4 era where it was just a procedural drama… not a hitchcock remake or an homage to classic b-movies.

i miss the energy of past seasons when yeah there was drama, but overall it was still a silly feel-good show; but then in s7 rather than emulating s1 and having it be a shorter reestablished character-focused season, he had it be both a character focus season (that decided to retcon and rewrite entire character traits of some people) as well as trying to cram in crazy drama plots (like listen, the cruise ship arc was decent, but it should have been focused on the storm/wave ONLY rather than the dumbass pirate plot that only took 10 minutes 💀).

so yeah, i’n trying to still remain positive and interact w headcanon/fanfiction content and posting the occasional “i hope we get this in s8”, but as far as actively speculating and teying to figure things out from photos or 2 second clips that will most likely only result in disappointment or frustration upon seeing the finished product, i’m not gonna hold my breath for anything.

Again if you wish to engage in spec and have fun with that, then by all means do! I just don’t have the mental capacity to do that healthily so i find it oftentimes more rewarding to keep my expectations low (especially after i got kinda spec crazy last season)

but also if you DO engage in spec, don’t try to gaslight and bully people, telling them that their interpretation is wrong just bc it’s not yours (meaning if someone is cautious about whether or not we’re getting buddie canon, don’t tell them they are delusional and insane bc ‘we absolutely 1000% are and there is no possibility we aren’t’ even tho it is very likely that we unfortunately won’t get buddie canon) i’ve had to make the decision to unfollow so many larger buddie blogs that i used to enjoy bc seeing the way they interact with fans’ concerns, low expectations, etc made me feel so icky bc they were beginning to sound like a certain part of the fandom (👀) and i don’t like that.

like i’m not going to go on someone’s post where they’re voicing their concerns and say “this is stupid that would never happen you’re delusional”

it’s one thing to be like “hey, i get that you may be stressed, but i look at it this way and that seems to help me” or to be like “good points, but if you look at this and this” but to actively make people feel stupid for having (objectively based on how s7 went) concerns about s8? that’s icky behavior to me idk

anyway i kinda hijacked this ask and went on alittle tangent, but no i am right there with you too on the “wait and see” of it all bc so far i have not seen anything truly promising about this season, and i honestly probably won’t until the show comes out and we actually get a feel for where tim’s brain is at this season (which…. knowing where his brain went last season doesn’t fill me with excitement)

okay so some real quick thoughts of 3x05-08

cressida got seriously short-changed. but i don't think the writers were anticipating that people would even like creloise

eloise almost had like a retcon re her friendship with cressida? did she think that was all fake? from what i recall (i might be wrong ofc) she first played into hating her because she pretended she was LW, even though she totally knows she's not, but basically she wanted to take pen's side. and that was it, really. so... i feel like the cressida stuff (and her being shipped off to wales) could've been avoided if they'd just talked. idk

eloise is still... hmmm..... still has some growing to do. but it's fun now, watching her, because i don't find her annoying anymore, unlike in s2

benedict's really floating. but i do feel like his season is next. though, are they really going to have the actor for michaela on standby for four years, if that's the case (eta: i suppose she could have a sideplot for s4, if benedict is lead. i'd love that)

and, actually, i suppose i would not mind fran/michaela next. but i don't want john to die :( but even the priest knew he was gonna die!!!!!!!!!! so i guess he's gonna :(

i very very very much enjoyed anthony's pretty face :3

and all the a&b moments!!!

anthony was half OOC. but all his moments with benedict were lovely so i'm good :3 and he had a nice moment with colin too skjfgnkfg but, too short!! haha

i always need more anthony + any sibling. but i think i like a&b in particular because you can see how close they are

hmm i think i said this elsewhere but i think they resolved the LW stuff too easily. but yeah, they really are using the queen as like, the get out of jail card lol

still trying to decide if they gave cressida a storyline just to put a spanner in the works for LW, or for it to somehow be linked to sophie....... ... is cress gonna come back? hm

colin finalllly got malewifed... finally accepted his role as pen's number 1 simp. good on him. took him a while. had to get through some cringe fragile masculinity moments--or were they just 'wanting to be good enough for pen, wanting to do things for her, wanting to save her' - oh perhaps that's the same thing

i love portia!!! and polly walker is an amazing actor

i wish that cressida wasn't so alone that she felt she had to resort to blackmail. eloise abandoned her by pretending to think she really was LW... and she never turned back from that. kinda like she gaslit herself. idk, i'd have to watch it again, but idk if i can be bothered

as i said in the 3x08 post, iiiiiiiii felt like it was only the last 10 mins or so of that ep that really felt like bridgerton. and i enjoyed that part.

the pacing was off in places. and the characterisation. re pacing, the biggest problem ones i can think of are ep 2 and the first half of ep 8 or so. ep 8 didn't even feel like it should be there at one point.

anyway, these are all initial thoughts

tl;dr we got some lovely a&b!!! and anthony's face is pretty. and benedict and fran are queer. and there was lots of peneloise. and creloise got crushed to the ground

16. Welcome To Heaven:

St. Peter pisses me off. Idk if it's his voice or whatever, but he's annoying and unnerving and I hate it. :((((

15. It Starts With Sorry:

This was originally bottom of the list, before i remembered tht Welcome to Heaven exists. I think it's a cute song, sure, but it's just...meh. It's kinda lost when its surrounded by other bangers, and especially when it's preceeded by Stayed Gone - it had no chance. I love Pen, but this isn't it for me

14. Whatever It Takes:

If I had a nickel for every time a musical series had and wasted JAMES MONROE IGLEHART, I'd have two nickles. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice (the other time is Tangled the Series)

Seriously though, when it's just Carmilla singing, this song is great, it's powerful and passionate. Then Vaggie starts singing. And don't get me wrong, I think Stephanie is a great voice actress and singer, but from the start I just didn't like her as the voice of Vaggie. It seems off to me, and it feels even worse here. Great song, but I think this is a person preference sort of thing bringing it down :(

13. Happy Day In Hell:

Opening song, pretty good. I was planning on using this as a sort of middle ground for the rest of the songs, but once you get into it, it's clear that while it's good, so many other songs are better, sadly. It is such a fun song, and I love the background voices, they're fun. Plus the little tempo change is cute halfway through, I like it a lot. It just doesn't hold up in comparison to the rest of the soundtrack

12. More Than Anything Reprise

Cute little thing right before the end, it's sweet and I'm glad that Charlie and Vaggie are good again. It suffers the same issue as Happy Day in that while it's good, there are other greats. It wins over it because I like the vocals here, and the change in the music from the original More Than Anything is neat.

11. Hell Is Forever:

My friend is very very bummed that I put this one this low. I like this song, but again, there are others I like so much more. Adam is a dick, Alex does a fantastic job voice acting, and I do like the way he emphasises bits like 'pearly gates' its neato. Plus the whole 'guitar solo' bit is fun :))

10. Out for Love:

The first listen, I thought it was meh. As I relistened, it just got better and better. Idk who voices Carmilla but she is FANTASTIC, the mix of the guitar and the heavy beat, and her sining/speaking on beat is good. As well as the bit where the music stops for a second before the second chorus. Fabulous stuff honestly, if being an Overlord doesn't work out for Carmillia she could become a singer instead like holy shit.

Also this is the second Carmilla/Vaggie song... the whole Carmilla was from Heaven theories are looking stronger by the minute

9. Poison:

Shit. Banging song. Blake does such an AMAZING JOB>?!?!?!?! Like holy fuck what a banger. I like this song, the way it's used in the show is brilliant, the ENDING?????? OMG. The bits around "Anyway you want me baby thats the way you got me baby" Are my faves, like those longer notes are so good ffrrrrrrr. I very like this song.

8. Respectless:

GIRLLLLLLL????? VELVETTE?????!!!??!?! OMG BABY GET IT. Vox is my fav V but shit Velvette is such that Bitch fr. This song is so fun, she's so right, and Unpopular Opinion- I think her voice is absolutely perfect for her charcter. Couldn't imagine her without her shitty little british accent. Also Velvette changes clothes every Ep; such a fun detail

7. More Than Anything:

Screaming, kicking my legs, giggling JEREMY JORDAN SBF HIBDBB:VHIBDHF I LOVE HIM HE PUTS HIS WHOLE SOUL INTO EVERYTHING HE DOES AND THIS IS NO DIFFERENT

such a sweet, genuine song, i love hearing them realise that they really love each other and learn about each other, I love the duet at the end, I love charlies solo bit, the fucking "Apple doesn't fall far" sbdfbhhb'bvofvj ADOREEEEEEE Such a cute song FR kisses

6. Finale:

So many elements here that are just *chefs kiss* JEREMY JORDAN I WANT TO KISS YOU. The gang all singing together is just so fucking cute, Vox and Val are Gay and Canon and theyre so cute thinking they're gonna rule Hell T-T - I need to see how Vox reacted to Al not being dead. AND SPEAKING OF: AL's VERSE???? SIRRRR?? ARE YOU OKAY??? mans was loosing it frrr (i also wanna kiss him on the forehead and put him to bed) (Some one pointed out that he doesn't have his staff in the last moments of the song) (also it's cute that he headed back to his radio shack to breakdown, babe really said 'safe space')

5. You Didn't Know:

We all knew this was gonna be this high up, WHAT A BANGER?????? I adore Sera's voice, it's so good, and Lute singing?? get it girl. And we all know the 'Hell is Forever' Reprise is absolute PEAK soooooooooooooooooooooooooo fucking good. ANd the end??? ADAM YOURE A CUNT but also Drama ✨✨✨

4. Stayed Gone:

NFBHBH{B@OUFE@OF Alastor and Vox are two of my fav fiction men Types: Suave sassy cunts with way too much power (with fun voice effects for extra Style)

Seriously this song really outlines them so well??? Like Vox is desperate for control, hence the fucking new's cast, and he's erratic and insane, trying his best to make absolutely sure that his viewers stay his viewers, instead of pivoting to Radio. In contrast, Al is still and calm, staying in one place while Vox flicks all over the place through his screens. AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE END PART He really went Sicko Mode to bully a man after 7 years of ignoring him, FUck i love Alastor

3. Loser, Baby:

Need more be said? It's Loser, Baby, it has it all. Smooth vocals, fun jazz, cute choreography, a dancable beat, a wonderfully approachable message (my friend got worred that i liked it so much because he thought it was concerning at first, but it's so comforting to be told, 'hey we're all fucked, let's be fucked together 😊'

Blank and Keith work so beautifully together vocally that if we don't get another duet in S.2 imma riot I swear.

also "They're fucking singing???" GOLD

This song put Husk right into my top 3, only for Ep 5 to push him righ to Number 1(*)

2. Hell's Greatest Dad:

Seriously tho, an electrojazz duet between Al and Lucifer was such a gorgeous idea whoever made this song needs a fucking RAISE the differences in their music while they're soloing, only for it to 'clash' when Lucifer brings out the fiddle (yes its a fiddle, not a violin)

(also violin and piano are complimentary intruments, so while its not a violin, it's still neat to know that they still work 'together' as they hate each other)

The end with Mimzy?? Funny, I liked it. I hate mimzy, she's annoying and she's bound to return, but yeah, I liked her interuption as her intro, it's fitting. Also Lucifer's little 'who' at the end makes me giggle.

I quite like this song. In case you couldn't tell by the way it's No.1. Its a mix of the vocals being FUCKING GORGEOUS, the changes in style as the song goes on 'come on boys hop in the saddle' IMMA KISS ERIKA. Also the way the Cannibals get on board so fast is so funny, their verse is so fun

What are your opinions on the gang going to ireland (all episodes / in general)

i liked it! they were definitely my favorite episodes of the season, the gang's still in ireland being #1 for me. i thought the gang tagging along with dee and also ruining her chance at acting was very on-brand. sad for dee though.

dennis' storyline was my favorite- they managed to make him arch and heightened in a funny way but still keep it grounded through him having & denying covid (which was also on-brand). and of course him collapsing and shitting himself after trying to attack dee was the cherry on top. it was a way to play with the humor of the serial killer theory while still keeping him pathetic and stupid and weak. 10/10.

i really liked the ambition with charlie's storyline, especially his emotional moment in the finale. really blew me away the first time i watched it. i thought there were some things that didn't make sense though (like why is it implied that shelly is related to him because his last name is kelly but there's no way bonnie would have taken the last name of one random guy she slept with? people have said oh well kelly is just a common irish name but it still bothers me. but that's beside the point). it was lowkey heartbreaking to see how quickly charlie got attached to shelly and ignored the fact that he was absent his whole life and prioritized him over frank. it let you see charlie's insecurity and unhealthy attachment style in an honest and real way.

i have mixed feelings about mac's storyline, and i don't think i can articulate it very well. on one hand, i think it was necessary for him to explore his identity in a deeper way. on the other hand, it felt like they were making fun of people who care about their social identities at all for some of the jokes (i'm specifically thinking about his conversation with charlie when he's like "you're just a straight white cis male" or whatever). but it's what sunny does. they poke fun at both sides of the extreme. but rcg saying that they try not to take any political stance also bothers me so idk. but mac freaking out about his identity and leaving the mountain gave us the funniest moment in the season "DON'T YOU DARE GET ANOTHER SHAMROCK TATTOO YOU SON OF A BITCH!!"

i don't have much to say about dee or frank tbh. i wish frank had more to do, that's all.

Given how the TVA is styled as reminiscent of nazi’s and in season 2 they’ll have their own versions of gas chambers, what do you think is the likelihood that Loki will decide to destroy them after all? Do you have any trust in the writers to not be blatantly pro-fascist and antisemitic? Am I stupid to hope that Loki’s line about always being the god of mischief will be his Steve Rogers “it all goes” moment? Basically what are your hopes for season 2 because I’m approaching it with the mindset of someone watching a disaster in the news.

This is a great question. Clearly, there's a lot of nuance to season 2 that not everyone wants to poke at and I understand that. I guess I personally don't see the writers as glorifying the TVA or seeing it as something "good", which is why I have like, er, 10% faith they're not going to be blatantly pro-fascist in season 2? I didn't know about the alt. gas chambers until right now and that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Do not like. Return to sender. Do not press go.

I guess I saw the groundwork they laid in season 1 as the TVA being the bad guys and the victims all at once as it being more of a nuanced take of the TVA rather than blatantly being in support of it. Like I said though, 10% faith is...not very high. Like scraping the bottom of the barrel for me kinda high. If they can take the ground work they laid in season 1 and then actually put it to work in season 2 then I think it will retroactively fix a lot of the problems season 1 had with fascism.

Personally, and I might just not know enough about this, but I don't see the depiction of fascism to be inherently pro-fascist by nature? Like how showing murder isn't pro-murder. I guess it's really how you handle the story. So if they're going to show the TVA as being fascists, then okay, sure. Interesting idea. But are they going to DO something about it? Idk. Like I said, nuance. asdflkjdf. I hope they do not handle this badly. I understand feeling like this is a train wreck in slow motion.

So I guess that raises the question as to why I, who has a legendary history if being blesdifj about season 1, am watching season 2 at all? Do I intend to just torment the writers and yell about how bad it was the whole time? Am I hate-watching? Why? WHY am I subjecting myself to this?

Because I'm hopeful it will be better.

...That's kind of it? Yeah, that's it.

And honestly, watching trailers and clips, I am kind of excited for season 2. I think it was Michael Waldron or Kate Herran who said that season 1 and 2 were written as one season they split in half, so I'm curious what the complete story is and if it will fix the first half.

+ Loki season 2 has changed directors AND writers

So I think that this season is going to be handled very differently than season 1 was. Like Moon Knight is one of the most beloved MCU TV series because of how well it was handled and loved. I don't know a lot about Eric Martin, but he seems like his work has been over-all liked? I know that they keep hinting about more mischief to come, but like even looking at the trailers, I guess I already see improvements between s1 and s2? Magic, the lighting, centralizing the characters. If Benson and Moorhead can give even 30% of the love and care they gave to Moon Knight to Loki, then I think that overall fans are going to like this season more and the TVA will be handled much better. Do you know how rare it is to find someone who depicts child abuse from a mother in TV and then takes it seriously? That part of Moon Knight ALONE is what I'm like "!!! okay, so maybe this will be better overall??"

I've seen a lot of people claim ooc-ness from OG/Ragnarok Loki in the trailers alone, and I see some of it too, but that's not enough to stop me. We don't have complete context yet, so I guess I'm holding off on my judgment.

Honestly, all I want from season 2 is Loki's story to be taken seriously again. That's it. And maybe, just hoping here, for him to be the main character of s2. But like idk. I guess I have very low hopes, lol. I do foresee some weird, funky writing in the future, but I will say now that if loki season 2 is actually good - like really good - then the writers and directors will forever hold my respect and eternal gratitude.

And like 90% of my Loki mutuals have said they aren't going to watch it unless I greenlight it, because I guess I'm watching it for all of us? and then let them know if it sucks, so I guess there's a marginal degree of social pressure. (Which I'm fine with and think is a little funny tbh)

experience/how many years:  i had a couple false starts trying to set up rp blogs for Samwise Gamgee from the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Wirt from Over the Garden Wall back in 2014 and 2015? but i just never really managed to get off the ground and start writing in-character for them because i was super heavily intimidated by the rpc and too nervous to approach anyone. finally in january 2017 i stumbled across a parody of Portal 2 on youtube called the Unauthorized Musical and discovered that there were already a handful of muns on tumblr who had picked up characters specifically based on that production and regularly hosted rabbit streams where they'd watch the video again together and welcomed anyone who wanted to join to do so. i noticed nobody was really writing any antagonistic characters against them so i wound up setting up a blog for GLaDOS and following everybody i met during the stream and that was essentially how i became hooked on tumblr rp. i've been kicking around on and off for about 7 years now.

best experience: there's so many to choose from, but i think i'd have to say my best experience was when i started writing Caleb. i was just fresh off watching Westworld season 3, i was actually feeling more compelled at the time to try and write either Dolores, Maeve, Clementine or Teddy but i felt like i wouldn't do any of 'em justice. i ended up making a sideblog to my old multimuse after deciding i would try writing Caleb, and that's where i almost immediately connected with melody/aworldofyou/copiesofme and was enthusiastically introduced to a bunch of other muns residing in the tiny but mighty westworld rpc. 🥰

rp pet peeves: one is pretty much the same as Sandra said; making a new main blog in the spur of the moment. exhausting all energy on curating a distinct aesthetic for icons/banners/promos/custom themes/etc, and then completely losing interest in a week or 2 without ever getting to write that character. and then more often than not the process gets repeated down the line until that person either becomes overwhelmed from having too many blogs to manage or too many memes to answer or too many starters to write.

i also don't particularly love memes that promote making rp into a popularity contest or seeking an almost constant stream of validation from other people. things like "send a _ and i'll rate your blog on a scale of 1 to 10/using a scale template" i try to stay far away from. arguably every notification you get on tumblr is an instant dopamine hit just like all social media is but. idk there was just something about those blog rating/character rating memes that made them feel more addictive to send and receive than like, taking the time to give someone your honest opinion on how you feel about them as a person or on their writing and characters and such.

another similar thing is reblog chains to the effect of 'reblog this if you actually like following me/seeing me on the dash.' i really don't like these. there's a level of self-deprecation and guilt-tripping involved and when people already feel awfully low and vulnerable to negative self image this just makes it worse. especially when people post with side commentary like 'oh nobody will reblog this from me lol.' and i don't think they're always necessarily aware that this is manipulative behavior, but...it is. even just the way the source post is typically phrased, it preys on insecurity and it makes me sad when i do see mutuals reblogging posts written like this because then i'm like. just sitting there thinking "i'm not a spambot so...if i didn't like following you or seeing you on my dash i would not be following you??"

other forms of reblog chains like 'reblog to give the person you're reblogging from a hug' or 'reblog this and say something nice about the person you reblogged from' are far better in my opinion because they don't inherently contain that same level of insecurity. they put the focus on lifting up and supporting the person you're reblogging from instead of centering on yourself.

plots or memes: i like both but i am very much a memes person because i feel like i'm not very good at plotting.

long or short replies: i don't really have a preference! but lately my thing generally seems to be letting the length creep up so my replies just get longer and longer over time. i never expect anyone to match me, but like. the one thing that would crush my soul is me posting like. 5-7 paragraphs and getting back a one sentence or one word response 😭

the meatballs I made tonight turned out really good, so here's the recipe. no need for binder, just very simple and can use up stuff in your fridge like those sundried tomatoes you bought for one recipe and now can't seem to use up.

Ingredients:

1lb ground turkey

3/4ths- 1 cup feta cheese (i had leftover queso fresco to use up so I did half and half)

2 decent sized stems of fresh or (1tbsp) dried oregano

2-3 cups spinach (the development age of the spinch doesn't matter)

2 cloves garlic

1/2 cup sun dried tomatoes, or 2 fresh roma/plum tomatoes or whatever u got. Grape, cherry, whatever.

1/2 cup red onion (i used pickled onions because I had them leftover from tacos)

salt & pepper

1tbsp red wine vinegar or lemon juice

Optional:

rice

1 lemon

Directions:

Heat oven to 425, line a baking sheet with parchment paper, or a silpat, or if you don't have, tinfoil. If you have a rack, you can use that in your pan instead. I don't bother because cleaning cooked meat fat off of a baking rack is a particular kind of torture.

On the stove on med-high heat, cook down all of your spinch. It will wilt down, become very small like an embarrassed man's penius. Cook it as long as you can without getting it browned. Go ahead and mash out excess liquid with the back of your spatula.

It'll end up looking like a little patty of mush. That's what you want. Put it on a plate and let it cool completely.

If using sundried tomatoes, just chop very finely.

If using fresh tomatoes, get out all of the pulp, dice, and cook down in the spinach pan until they're cooked through. Also let cool.

Finely dice garlic, and mash it with your knife a bit, too. Or use a garlic press.

If you're using fresh oregano, remove the leaves from 3 stems and chop. Save the stems and sad leaves for making rice.

Do the same with the onion. Nice fine dice, you don't want giant chunks of onion in your meatballs (If you want to make sure your onions are not at all crunchy, also cook them. or skip.)

Take your cooled spinach and cut that all up until only small chunks of stem remain. Just whack it with a knife for a bit.

In a large bowl, add spinach, tomato, garlic, feta, oregano, and onion. Mix until homogeneous. This helps avoid giant chunks of spinach.

Add turkey, 2tsp salt and 1tsp pepper, and red wine vinegar

Get your hands in there. Start mixing. It'll probably be really cold cuz of the turkey. Hate that part. This isn't an instruction I'm just complaining. I usually take breaks and rinse my hands off under hot water in the sink until I feel better.

mix it really good until the meat is a nice paste and everything is well-incorporated throughout.

Make a small patty of the mixture and fry it up in your spinch sauteing pan. Let it cool, taste for seasoning. Re-season the meat mix if it needs more of salt or pepper or what have you.

Make your balls, line up on sheet pan, bake for like, idk, 10-15 minutes. Turkey doesn't take that long, but you don't want to overbake it. So err on the side of caution. You can always split one in half to check.

If they're still in the oven, a little pink in the middle is fine for taking them out. They'll finish cooking while they rest.

once you're done, eat them! they make good sandwiches, like in a pita with some tzatziki, but we served them with rice.

for the rice I just um, made rice (sorry I measure with my heart) but added my oregano stems/crappy leaves, and the zest of 1 small lemon, as well as some salt.

After the rice cooks, take the oregano stems out, juice in half the lemon, gently mix it thru, and ur good!

I never did the writeup for all of the episodes in SU Season 5 like I was going to. At this point I probably won't. Season 5 is so weird in comparison to the other seasons. It has the great opening arc of Steven in Space with Lars. Then it has the townie Eps, which was praising at the time for their incredible ability to make me feel anxious waiting for resolution to the Connie plot, to the Lars plot, to the whole town changing (Kevin Party is such a good episode for the manner in which it juggles all of that tension)

And then the next episodes, where Lars is brought back, are great episodes, I love new Lars, but it's so sudden being off screen and also kinda breaks a lot of the townie tension all at once with anticlimax?

And from there the season just gets weirder. The pink diamond reveal I guessed like a season earlier (Steven is literally right on the money in his rant in Storm in the Room, but also he couldn't possibly have yet known half the stuff he was right about), followed by the truly lovely wedding, and then the ending...

Oh that ending...

It starts with Yellow and Blue's Heelturns. This series has an MO for villains and it's that a good friendship speech will cause a change in a character toward good but that change may take time. Peridot and Lapis, even when they're open to friendship, take a while to fully settle into their cottage core aesthetic. Given the time limit they were stretching against I understand why Blue and Yellow's heel turn was so short but their change was the shortest and most wild and it did cause whiplash. From there, while it was probably a good move to pivot from the genocidal stakes to stakes more grounded in generational trauma in order to have a story that can conclude in the allotted time, that change also left me somewhat bewildered. The series built itself up so so well across the previous 5 seasons and it had to break a lot of its buildup in order to fit in the runtime.

The finale basically only survives because of the 1 Gorgeously Animated Shot (you know the one) and then the wall to wall music in the last 10 minutes. It hits the right nostalgia notes, and a just barely somber tinted chord, to make you forget that the ending was not really able to pay off a lot of what it had been promising.

So in the end my thoughts on the end are very similar to the end itself. Messy, disjointed, tinged with a bit of sorrow? Idk. If you read this i'd love to hear your thoughts about the ending in the comments/reblogs. Good or bad. I'm giving Sugar a lot of leeway in my analysis on the basis that the schedule screwed them over, but that's not the only valid read.

you cannot tell me they planned the whole timeloop bullshit from the start .... old viktor looks nothing like the mage in season 1 (aside from ... cloak and staff?? no tattoos, the way the mage does magic doesnt seem like viktor does anythign every etc) and its so?? granted i havent rewatched .. bc i dont want to see that again, but how even ... does old viktor turn 'normal' again?? they seem to break the loop by breaking viktor out of god mode so the loop is if he stayed in god mode ... right? what made him turn back .. complete with normal hands and everything? and tiem hopping powers?? is that the kind of "special" mentioned in that interview now? somehow?? is he gonna fuck with all the other region with his new special time hopping powers???

with the reveal of the new 'seasons' in league (which in itself is a cool concept and took them way too long to do anything with the darn map) ... i feel even mroe bitter bc ... yeah that ending going like that sure feels like it was done JUST to lead into that stuff, i liked mel, but her turn from political figure to just golden something magic blaster and then her turn for noxus feels so???? for her who wants to bet mel is gonna be the main character in the next show and shes gonna fight mordekaiser all holy golden magic style bc shes the chosen holy magic baby and having her fight him is the whole reason the black rose wanted her (bonus jinx annoying sidekick bc shes popular and has to be everywhere now no matter how little sense it makes) and of course shes a champion with a legendary skin to launch with (bonus points for putting her in skin tight bodysuit number 341)

(them making a big ass figurine out of jinxs last design in the show also feels slimy ... like its a neat design but really she does fuck all there and is .. barely a footnote in the whole universe and time bending stuff :/ )

while i do think alot of it is due to the extreme time constraints they had to work with ............... its not the only thing that messed with it

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR ARCANE SEASON 2

its the most beautiful show ever produced, i mean it, its style, fortiche's (the studio) style, is just .... impossibly pretty, 3d and 2d, the animation is just so GOOD, the designs largely (like 95%) are too, the acting and sound design, the voice acting (at least the english one) is so emotional and good, the show in general is just good ... until the last episode

i have my own problems with riot declaring arcane the new canon out of nowhere and for no good reason since it was, im very sure, never conceived to be that, its a reinterpreation and works best as such, now literally everything is once again completely messed up, no one knows whats real and what isnt, no champion or story is safe, especially with the weird hexcore bullshit potentially erasing the VOID (whish is like ... half on which the canon was built on tbh) AND hextech- multiple champions being impossible to exist now .... but thats not what i wanted to talk about

i was pretty on board with everything the show did, though i wasnt a big fan of the whole hexcore stuff, but it all spiraled so far out of control, it just kept making everything worse, also with bringing in the black rose and leblanc, it kept piling stuff onto the plate despite them already compressing everything so drastically; espeically regarding viktor, but i kept my hope up even after season 2s act 2 bc it still seemed 'fixable', though not easily so

what i liked about it (in its writing) despite its pacing issues was that it was rather .. self contained for the longest time, focused on the characters and the class struggle of piltover and zaun, and doing so rather well imo, like it did and said things i did not expect riot to let through

i was worried with the alternate universe stuff that came with the escalating hexcore bullshit but held onto hope even until episode 8 and then ...man .. the last episode ... the fuck was that- like i hate timetravel and multiverses and whatever but the thing with ekko was done rather neatly ... they made all those chaarcter models and sets just for that short stuff and really .. was of little use other than getting heimerdinger out of the picture as well lmao maybe he will get his own series to advertise for 200 dollar skins in league hahaaaa but i guess the main point was to give ekko the z-drive ... which feels alot like what i feared about them forcing it to comply with the characters in game ,,,, even though that wasnt for everyone like warwick was done SO dirty after giving me hope in act two

everythings focused on the hexcore/arcane shit, theres the black rose shit (honestly i think it was a mistake bringing them in too bc .. noxus is its entire own region with so many champs and story itself that got connected via ambessa .. which was a new character the show made up until they made her a champ now .. its just too much to put into this one show already going at a breakneck pace), mel doing her bit with them then bam she mage now which felt like a champion teaser more than an organic part of the story, especialyl with how hard it got pushed later (poor little riots gotta sell more game cosmetics uwu), jayce just taking over control again and everyone going with it, singed reviving stupid version victor via using vander/warwick WHO WAS STILL ALIVE AFTER ISHA BLEW HERSELF UP TO STOP HIM FROM KILLING EVERYONE (which was ALREADY pretty cheap, but i guess jinx had to be even more suicidal than she already was heehoo), dont even ask me HOW, viktor was just whoops from corpse to im a cocoon now, ambessa being so obsessed with it, the entire class struggle being """"solved"""" by piltover and zaun fighting stupid viktors weird ass robot shitheads together and then acting like giving sevika a seat at the council is the solution to it, half the cast just dying horribly for honestly no reason?? ORIANNA being now i guess some weird viktor robot but without the mindcontrol part and singed just kinda ... winning i guess by giving her cocoon some goo of stupid viktors cocoon

it just all ... turning from this so drama, character and class struggle thing into weird ass dimension hopping magical world war that all gets solved bc we fought together once uwu AND it being a fucking timeloop WITHIN what ONE episode? and that being the ENDING (i know i know the hexcore bs was building up throughout the show but it still felt so .. unearned and sudden ... )

also i got personal gripes with the 'ending' bc .. was it REALLY an ending like they kept saying?? was it?? viktor, jayce, heimerdinger, jinx are just disappeared i guess, mel going back to noxus- the fucking 'our story isnt over' tease???? the last minute appearance of swains fucking raven???? pecking at something blue and shining like idk a hex crystal??? SHUT UP i dont want more to come, this story should have had its self containing ending, not this open ended bullshit that just reeks of corporate meddling bc they want their game to connect to their popular show as much as possible now so we gotta bring in as many teases and connections to other champions YIPPIEEEEE (yelling)

also if jinx is dead, wow, what a way to end her story, the traumatized suicidal character being tortured and tortured especially after seemingly having something good for once (i liked act 2 except for its ending the most bc ... man jinx was so enjoyable there, i loved her dynamic with vi and isha and half wolf vander warwick with the beast and man struggle i love alot, that part was genuinely beautiful, i wasnt a fan of the idea of idk ekko doing time stuff and them having a happy ending bc i just dont like going back in time to fix everything kinda stuff, but i would have much much prefered that, not changing the existing story into the perfect world where everythings happy (though i liked that part ... vander silco being gay husbands like that is just so goood) but to fix what is fixable in the present- them still having gone through alot but being able to live with it, so act 2 setup was honestly my favorite way to not invalidate everything and still have something happy .... but no we gotta kill the kid to make jinx even worse and vander/warwick too while we are at it

if shes not dead (given you see a blimp(?) flying away and her scribbles showing up and caitlyn looking at the blueprints of the hexgates) then ... ??? oh yeah lets make her leave zaun and just idk go be the main character in noxus or soemthing for the next show they are gonna do bc jinx is popular so putting her everywhere is a good idea!!!1!!11

ALSO since vander/warwick is my favorite .. i thought maybe after isha doing that, if they dont reverse it, hed get taken by singed again or ran away and turned fully werewolf like he is in the game (though i would have liked if they were able to be a weird family like in act2)- but no he just gets used as fuel for stupid viktor cocoon and then mind erased and made into the ugliest weird robot thing that looks more like galio than him JUST and i feel like it really is JUST to have Vi at the end do the scene that gets jinx 'killed' .. to lead into the 'more to come' teaser.. idk about you but that scene felt so .. forced, the typical oh no platform is slowly falling down but Vi suddendly gets emotional about weird ugly robot warwick (who conveniently comes back to life as ugly robot beast since his human mind got erased but not the beast??? i guess???) and completely ignores jinx yelling at her to get to safety, it felt so WEIRD to me (if you gotta do him like that at least let Vi listen to jinx, them embracing and then watchign emotionally as robo vanderwick falls into the hexgate thing .. that was still active somehow i guess??)

(poor viktor got done so dirty too .. i liked him .. until it all went weird wit hthe hexcore stuff ....... ..... also jayce weird speech to him .. why the FUCK did you not do that back in the cult camp instead of blasting him to bits, i get it he was fucked up from seeing the future, but then later hes just ... okay???? pretty fine all things considered??? and pretty aware of everything?? also his weird speech being all like vitkor actually you were perfect in your imperfection BITCH HE WAS SLOWLY DYING AN AGONIZING DEATH???? idk ??? it all feels so weird to me, like there episodes literally missing- ambessa dying also felt so unnecessary .. just so mel can take her place and go to noxus and have more shows maybe- )

Colin Bridgerton had met Penelope Featherington last year at the stables of his home at Number 5 Bruton Street. She and Eloise were taking inventory of the Bridgerton horses, and certainly not up to anything unsavory. Ignoring every bit of good breeding, it was Colin who introduced himself to the meek redhead lingering behind his sister. In less than two minutes Colin learned her name, that she came to London for her eldest sister’s first London Season, is staying at their family home down the street, and that she is positively certain Eloise is not up to anything mischievous. Even if he didn’t believe them for one wink (gently bred girls do not belong in a stable), Colin turned on his heels and left them be. A running occurrence to be sure. 

Though Penelope was two years older than Eloise (and 10 months older than Colin himself) the two girls had bonded and became inseparable rather quickly. There was rarely a week gone by that the girls were not joined at the hip, strolling the grounds of Mayfair, or taking tea and reading in the drawing room. Colin had always wondered why Penelope would subject herself to his sister’s wild scheme and hysterics. He knows how much of a handful Eloise Bridgerton is and is sure to become worse as she enters womanhood. Alas, they seemed well matched. Penelope is a calming force to Eloise’s antics. Though, as he sat alone with only the sounds of her laughter playing in his mind, Colin had a feeling - a very small, very niggling feeling - that had him beginning to believe Penelope tolerates Eloise because they - him and her - were meant to be. 

The next week Colin found her in his garden. Sprawled out on a blanket with a picnic spread, a book in hand, and the sun complimenting her plaited auburn hair. 

“Do you often take up residence in other people’s gardens?” he asked, a few paces away. 

He meant it to be a joke, the unconfident waiver of his words made it seem anything but that. If Penelope noticed she did not let on. 

Setting her book aside, marking the pages, she responded in kind, “Eloise had business to attend to.” 

“What kind of business does a girl of thirteen have? Let alone my sister.” 

“Private business.” 

He made a motion, waiting for her to elaborate. 

“Colin…” 

He raised a coaxing brow. 

“She went to use the chamber pot.”  

His eyes widened in recognition, then shrugged it off, plopping on the free space of sheet beside her. 

“I do not envy you,” he admitted. “Having to use a chamber pot under all those skirts seems tortuous. Time consuming too.” 

“Do you always concern yourself with women’s toileting?” 

He shrugged once more, an impish smile taking place, “Call me curious. I shall never experience it.”  

“Wait until you learn of corsets…” Penelope began with a small laugh. Whatever she was going to say dying on her tongue. Or maybe she finished speaking, he couldn’t be sure. For his eyes wandered down between them to a delectable piece of sponge cake with frosting. Colin nearly licked his lips before a bare hand was pulling the plate out of view. He gulped just as his gaze met Penelope’s. 

“You should have it. Before the sun melts the frosting completely.”    

He took the offered dessert between his fingertips, and knew Penelope Featherington was special.

S6 EP5: the scene where dean gets turned into a vampire. between the old dude who I think calls dean a pretty boy (??) and soulless sam....watching??? no ******* but there were just some absolutely foul energies in that scene and I still do not understand WHAT they were thinking

S6 EP20: cas doing a double smite on two demons by slamming them to the ground and then shoving another demon back in its vessel and then smiting him in the same motion. TOP. ENERGY.

S6 EP22: season 6 is possibly cas’ horniest season because he’s like, going through angel puberty after getting his first boner for dean, but the final cas eps are. whoof. cas eats a bunch of souls and proclaims himself to be a new god in order to handle said boner, and then the season ends with cas telling them to bow down and profess their love to him, their new lord, or he will destroy them. note: the way this is framed makes it look like cas is only staring at dean while he says this, even though sam and bobby are also there. the season ends with dramatic zooms on both cas and dean’s faces respectively. this made me actively regret ditching this show after s5 lol

S8 EP??: literally EVERY SINGLE PURGATORY FLASHBACK. cas dean and benny are all purgatory hot in the “pop 10 cranberry pills and risk the UTI” kind of way but also. dean being the hot girl bottom between two tops who hate each other. I really. whew. I need to go take a shower.
