Movies I watched in February
fyi, I have zero knowledge on how to professionally rate or review a movie. I am not gonna pay attention to every little detail. these rating are simply based on how much I enjoyed/liked the movie
Follow me
Unhinged
In Time
Avengers Age of Ultron
Songbird
Star Trek
Step up all in
Project Almanac
Ant Man
Space Sweepers
Christiane F.
Jurassic World
Jurassic World the fallen kingdom
1. follow me
A social media personality travels with his friends to Moskow to capture new content for his successful vlog. Always pushing the limits and catering to a growing audience, they enter a cold world of mystery, excess, and danger.
starring: Keegan Allen, Holland Roden, Denzel Whitaker, Ronen Rubenstein, Pasha D. Lchnikoff
the end was very predictable and i pretty much already knew halfway through the movie what was gonna happen. but it still was quite thrilling and I did enjoy watching it
6.5/10
2. unhinged
After a confrontation with an unstable man at an intersection, a woman becomes becomes the target of his rage.
starring: Russel Crowe, Caren Pistorius, Gabriel Batemen
hm idk, I didn’t really like it, my sister didn’t really like it but my mom did, I think. it just seemed so, no overdramatic but just too much in a way
3/10
3. in time
In a future where people stop aging after 25 and need to buy time to live, the rich become immortal while others cease to exist. So, Will is on the run with a hostage in a desperate bid to survive.
starring: Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy, Olivia Wilde, Alex Pettyfer
yes, such a good movie. Ireally like the concept. can recommend
7/10
4. avengers age of ultron
When Tony Stark and Bruce Banner try to jump-start a dormant peacekeeping program called Ultron, things go horribly wrong and it’s up to Earth’s mightiest heroes to stop the villanious Ultron from enacting his terrible plan.
starring: Robert Downy Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johanson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Paul Bettany
hell yes, one of my favourite marvel movies. Wanda and Pietro.. Hawkeye.. all the little jokes throughout the entire movie and of course the scene where everyone tries to lift thor’s hammer, what’s not to love about this movie
10/10
5. songbird
In 2024 a pandemic ravages the world and it’s cities. Centering a handful of people as they naviagete the obstacles currently hindering society: disease, marital law, quarantine, and vigilantes.
starring: K.J. Apa, Sofia Carson, Demi Moore, Bradley Whitford, Peter Stromare, Alexandra Daddario, Craig Robinson
I really enjoyed watching this. yeah sure, the ending was obvious but I was still glued to the screen. I also felt super weird watching this, kinda surreal because we are basically living a more harmless version of this rn. I really liked seeing sofia carson in such a movie, I’ve only seen her in the descendants so this was a bit of a change haha. I’m not that big of a fan of kj but he was great as well and i really loved his characters style.
7/10
6. star trek
The brash James T. Kirk tries to live up to his father’s legacy with Mr. Spock keeping him in check as a vengeful Romulan from the future creates black holes to destroy the Federation one planet at a time.
starring: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Leonard Nimoy, Carl Urban, Eric Bana, Bruce Greenwood, Zoe Zaldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Anton Yelchin
I put it on because I wanted to have some background noise while playing sims but I ended up playing like 20 minutes and then just watching the movie haha I forgot how good it was, and the others as well, aaand I totally forgot carl urban was in it, so that was a little surprise. anyways, can recommend watching them if you’re into sci-fi action movies but at the same time, if you’re into that I’m pretty sure you’ve already watched them.
7.5/10
bonus: I also watched star trek beyond the other day but this time I was barely paying attention so I can't really say too much, but it's also quite good👍🏻
7. step up all in
All-stars from the previous Step up installments come together in glittering Las Vegas, battling for a victory that could define their dreams and their careers.
starring: Ryan Guzman, Briana Evigan, Adam Sevani, Misha Gabriel Hamilton, Sephen Stevo Jones, David Schreibman, Mari Koda, Alyson Stoner, Izabella Miko
definetly one of my favourite dance movies. highly recommend it!! I’d like it more without the romancde but it’s fine, I guess, I can live with it haha and the last performance... wow just wow that’s all I can say to that. y’all go watch it
9/10
8. project almanac
A group of teens discover secret plans of a time machine, and construct one. However, things start to get out of control.
starring: Jonny Weston, Sofia Black-D’Elia, Sam Lerner, Allen Evangelista, Virginia Gardner
okay... I did enjoy watching it! the beginning was a little slow imo but then it just got more and more intense which was kinda nice. god, at some point the main guy kept making the wrong decisions and that was very frustrating to watch. the ending was alright, spoiler ahead (I guess) I would have liked the ending more if it was the exact same as the beginning, meaning that the movie is just one big time loop and the events from the movie were about to repeat themselves. but that's just my opinion🤷🏻♀️
6.5/10
9. ant man
Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, cat burglar Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his Mentor Dr. Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
starring: Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Michael Pena, Bobby Cannavale, David Dastmalchian, T.I.
another one of my favorite mcu movies. it's just fun and easy and doesn't have a lot of pain in it. the giant ant it's my favorite part haha I want it as a pet
9/10
10. space sweepers
Set in the year 2092 and follows the crew of a space junk collector ship called The Victory. When they discover a humanoid robot named Dorothy that's known to be a weapon of mass destruction, they get involved in a risky business deal.
starring: Song Joong-Kim, Kim Tae-ri, Seon-kyu Jin, Hyang-gi Kim, Richard Armitage, Ye-Rin Park
I really loved this movie. I cried like 6 times haha, which came unexpected. (or maybe it's because I'm suppose to get my period any day now) I did not think I was going to enjoy this movie as much as I did, at all. it was fun, it was exciting, it was sad (even my dad said that) the plot was good, the visual effects were amazing, it did feel like I was watching this movie for like 5 hours but not in a bad way and I am now kinda emotionally attached to the characters haha (I might do a rewatch). another thing I really liked was the language/synchronization. in the original version they speak mostly korean and english but also some other languages and it's the same in the synchronizations. the dialogue of the main characters is in the language you pick but every other character (I guess) is a different language and I absolutely love that. I highly recommend watching this!!
also, its was super weird seeing Richard Armitage not as a dwarf hahaha
10/10
11. christiane f.
A teen girl in 1970's Berlin becomes addicted to heroin. Everything in her life slowly begins to distort and disappear as she befriends a small crew of junkies and falls in love with a drug-abusing male prostitute.
starring: Natja Brunckhorst, Thomas Haustein, Jens Kuphal, Christiane Reichelt
I binged the series the other day and after the last episode this movie was in the "watch next" thingy idk and I thought "well, why not" and watched it. good movie, definitely!! I really liked that they didn't show the highs of doing heroin but focused on the negative effects it has on someone and what it's doing to your body. it is a super realistic but very very dark movie. the actors were all about 15/16 years old and looked very young which was a good and kinda disturbing thing because christiane and her friend were like 13/14 when that all happened and it made you realise that there were kids doing all that stuff
9/10
12. jurrasic world
A new theme park, built on the original site of Jurassic Park, creates a genetically modified hybrid dinosaur, the Indominus Rex, which escapes containment and goes on a killing spree.
starring: Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty simpkins, Nick Robinson, Irrfan Khan, Vincent D'Onofrio
13. jurassic world fallen kingdom
When the island's dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen and Claire mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event.
starring: Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rafe Spall, Justice Smith, Daniella Pineda, Isabella Sermon
I am tired and don't really want to say all that much other than both of them are very good and I do like them. good action/adventure movies. can definitely recommend them. I definitely like the first one more because it feels like (just a little bit) that the main story in the second one is the same as in the first one, someone creates a new dinosaur species to make more money and something goes terribly wrong along the way. but it's still entertaining!
jurassic wolrd: 7.5/10
jurassic world fallen kingdom: 7/10

Be honest with yourself, are you proud of your actions? Yes. If there’s one good thing going for me it’s that I’m happy with the things I’ve done, overall. I regret few of my actions.
Have you ever had an operation? No, and the thought scares me to be honest. I get uncomfortable with the idea of being put under anaesthesia or being cut open D:
Favorite sit-down restaurant? Yabu, Frankie’s, or Mendokoro Ramenba. Missing all these places bigtime, too. I can’t wait to start getting my internship money, heh. Chicken wings will probably be one of the first things I’d buy.
What have you eaten today? I had sushi bake with nori sheets in the afternoon, during a lull at work.
Who has made you laugh the hardest in the last week? Rhett and Link, if people from YouTube count. But Angela made me laugh quite a bit today, if you’re looking for an irl person.
If you had to get a tattoo on your face to save your life, what would it be? But would I be down with the tattoo...? Probably should have been the first question you asked, haha.
What is something you find romantic? I like different ways of saying I love you without having to say those words. Like, “I thought of you when I saw this,” or “Should I drive to you?” or “Did you get home safe?” Those are my favorite things to hear when in a relationship; it makes me feel I’m looked out for, which I appreciate.
What is your style? Sometimes I like going the 90s route with graphic tees and high-waist denim jeans, but other days I like to look more modern or chic.
If you could be doing anything you like right now, what would it be? Not that I enjoy doing it, but I’d love to visit Nacho’s resting place right now. I’m just not sure if I’m allowed to go out at this time. I’m certainly hoping he wasn’t alone today and that he got a lot of love.
What is the best movie you have ever seen? Good Will Hunting.
What makes you attracted to the person you like right now? Intelligence.
What, if anything, is too serious to be joked about? I don’t appreciate jokes on miscarriages and rape, and those that poke fun at transphobia. Jokes on suicide and mental health issues can sometimes be offensive, but it depends on the context.
How long was your longest relationship? 4 years.
Would you rather live in a castle or a spaceship? I’d take the castle. I personally prefer the spaceship a lot more, but I feel like I’d be barfing in there a lot lmao. Also, the amount of controls and buttons that I’ll have to move around will probably overwhelm me.
Have you ever felt unimportant in someone’s life? Unfortunately, yes.
Has someone ever made you a Build-A-Bear? No. Not my gift of choice either, so I’d say it’s a good thing that no one has made one for me.
Did you have any unread texts this morning? I don’t think so, no.
What are your initials? RIAC.
What is your definition of “having sex”? I don’t feel like describing it in detail lol, just look it up.
Who was the last person you were “in a relationship with” on Facebook (including anyone you may have put “in a relationship with” for a joke)? I never used that feature on Facebook. I don’t like sharing too much personal info on there, because Filipino relatives tend to be nosy and gossip around lol. All they need to see are the memes I share and my political stances.
Do you think a relationship with a 16-year-old girl and a 35-year-old man would work out? Do you think age differences like that (when they’re under 18) should be legal? 16 years old...say that again, but slowly. That’s pretty disgusting.
Were you ever “the other man/woman”? How did it turn out? How do you feel about it today? No. I’d never want to be; I wouldn’t know how to deal with it if I ever found out I was one.
What do you think of open relationships? If your partner suggested it, what would you say? i dont care what other people do, but that is not for me. < Sums it up well.
Would you ever date out of your race? I’m open to it. I don’t see why I shouldn’t be.
Who were you with yesterday? Just family, but I was mostly by myself.
Have you ever had a reptile for a pet? Nope.
What time do you have to get up tomorrow? My work starts at 9 AM so I always have to be up by then, but because I like taking a shower and polishing the work I did the day before, I personally like to be ready anywhere between 8–8:30 AM.
Have you ever kissed anyone with a tattoo? I never have.
What kinds of alcohol do you like? I like cocktails; I like having a good, chill time with friends and I’m usually not in a hurry to get drunk, so cocktails are the perfect drinks for me for most situations. As for hard drinks, I usually go for tequila shots and whatever Bacardi is.
Did you have a swing set when you were a kid? We didn’t, but as a kid I regularly came over to my cousins’ place who did have a playground and they had a variety of swings that I loved riding.
Can you do the alphabet in sign language? Incompletely.
Have you ever been so hurt that you wanted to stop feeling completely? Of course.
State you most want to visit? Illinois, but only for Chicago.
What is a book that you really want to read? I’m not really eyeing any at the moment, but I’m currently reading Midnight Sun. Except by ‘currently’ I really mean reading a few pages or so once a week lol. I’ve always been terrible at reading books as a teenager/adult.
What brand was the last lotion that you used? I don’t remember anymore. I don’t use lotion often.
What color is your underwear? Green.
What was the last type of cookie that you ate? Sandwich cookies. They were Oreos.
If you could be anywhere right now, where would you be? In a happier place, mentally. I’d give an arm and a leg to be there rn.
What genre was the last song you listened to? R&B I think.
What sort of surveys catch your interest and which ones bore you? I like ones with random questions or those with themes that I can relate to, like college or film surveys. I can’t say I enjoy surveys that ask what kind of X you are and then just lists down traits that you’re asked to bold or not. Bolding surveys can also be kinda bleh, but I like putting my own twist on them and elaborating on each entry so that I don’t finish them too quickly.
What books do you usually enjoy reading and which do you not enjoy? I enjoy autobiographies. I don’t like the fantasy and epic genres, or anything that has too many fictional or supernatural elements.
What is something that you really want to try, whether it’s a hobby, food, etc.? Baking! I feel like it would be therapeutic for me, so it’s something I want to get into. It’d be awesome to master chocolate chip cookies.
What websites do you frequent most often? YouTube these days, for sure. I also use a lot of Google Suite for work.
The last person you found attractive — what did they look like? Big eyes, medium-length hair, bright smile.
If you could go back in time, would you prefer to go forward or backward? this question is so jacked LOL. "if you could go back, would you go foward?" go away. < Hahahaha true, but I’d go forward in time. I want to fast forward to feeling happy again, if that will even be the correct guess.
Post a link to the last video you watched online. Aw man, your timing made me a little sad. I’m currently watching the GMM episode that featured Kobe Bryant a few years ago.
Is there anything bothering you at the moment? You bet there is.
What color was the last shirt you wore? I’m wearing a black and white striped shirt right now, but the one I wore before this had a leopard print.
What sort of things do you like to post or look at on Tumblr? I just do surveys full-time now, man. I hopped off the fandom side of Tumblr 6-7 years ago and this has been my ~main blog since, if I had to call it anything.
What scent was the last candle you burned? It was just a plain candle that we had to light up because we had a blackout. I don’t really get my own candles to relax or whatever.
What type of people are you usually attracted to? I’m demi, so it will always differ. I don’t have a ‘type’ of person.
Do you collect anything? If so, what? Can’t say I do.
When you look to your left, what is the first thing you see? What about the right? I see my bed on the left, and the wall and the glare from my phone on the right.
What room are you currently in? What color are the walls/floor? I’m in my bedroom. Walls are white, floor is brown.
What color is the last blanket you used? Pink but it has polka dots of various colors. My light is currently turned off and it’s dark, though, so I don’t feel like reaching for my blanket just to list down its other colors.
What do you smell like right now? I think I just smell like person...I wasn’t around strong scents today.
If it was possible to celebrate a holiday everyday, which would you choose? That would get boring really fast, but idk...Christmas, I guess? It’d be nice to have big grand dinners everyday and to see regularly relatives I only see 1-2 times a year.
If you could compare yourself to a celebrity or character, who would it be? Mr. Peanutbutter from BoJack Horseman. Loyal, wacky, covers everything up with humor, very expressive when it comes to love.
Which male celebrities do you find attractive? Timothée Chalamet, Troye Sivan, Mark Ruffalo.
Which female celebrities do you find attractive? Kristen Stewart, Kate Winslet, Rosamund Pike, Claire Foy, Courteney Cox, Mila Kunis, Emma Stone.
If you could marry one of your favorite celebrities and have a happy relationship until the end of your days, who would it be? I’d go with Mark Ruffalo, heh
What song are you listening to at the moment? I have Good Mythical Morning on, not music.
What is currently on your desk? Just my headphones at the moment. I usually use my laptop on the desk too, but right now I prefer to be on the floor just because.
What brand is your computer? Apple.
What are the last things you ate and drank? For eat, I had sushi bake with nori sheets. For drink, I had water.
How often do you take naps and how long do they usually last? I take naps in the afternoon but only on weekends now, because work. How long they last always varies, depending on how hot it is in my room. Higher temperature = quicker, less satisfying naps.
Which season do you wish lasted all year? I definitely wish we got rain all year.
What is the last part of your body that itched? My back.
Is there anything that you should be doing right now? Nope. My day is over and I’m happy to take a survey or two tonight.
Is there anything you’re craving right now? Pad thai. I did ask my dad to make it again, so I should expect it any day soon.
How do you take your tea? I don’t drink tea.

Hey! A bit ago I saw that you were wondering if anyone was interested in a tutorial on dialogue?? And I just wanted to say that I would totally love to learn how to write dialogue/banter like you do, if you’re still interested in creating that tutorial of course
Hi yes of course I’m still interested!! But before I jump in, let me say that this is by no means a be-all-end-all, and this is just what works for me. If it works for other people, that’s great! If it doesn’t, that’s totally valid! Maybe this could be a jumping off point for other pieces of advice, idk. But anyway, let’s gooooo
Okay so I’m gonna be pulling out a bad example of my own writing, and a good example for each point, which is extra but will hopefully show the differences, & I’ll be doing it without putting anyone else down so yeet!
SAY IT OUT LOUD, MAKE SURE IT FLOWS, MAKE SURE IT MAKES SENSE
Another point to this one is, can you imagine real life people saying it? If the answer is no, then you gotta rework it. If the answer is yes, then yay!
Otherwise I’m not really sure how to explain this. Making sure it makes sense is easy enough, and saying it out loud is too, but making sure it flows is different. What I do for this is maybe not the best advice, but I use less periods. Commas, dashes, and ellipses keep it from being choppy. Also, adding words/phrases such as ‘well’, ‘like’, ‘I mean’, ‘uh/um/er/etc’ can help connect sentences/thoughts together in a realistic way.
BAD EXAMPLE:
“Bruce shrugged. “I knew, but didn’t realize, I guess. I’ve known he was young since I first learned about him.”
Clint, who was blanching, said, “he looks like a kid. Or an underage father. Think about what he had to go through as a kid, though."” - posted on July 1st, 2014
Why it’s bad: (Ignoring the horrible blocking dskljflksdf)
It doesn’t flow! Bruce’s line here feels just a little off, probably bc I was trying to put information where it shouldn’t have been (more on that later), but even without the second sentence, it’s still off. Time to reword, then; I’d change it to “I learned about it when I was studying him, but I kinda…forgot.” Idk about yall, but I can see Mark Ruffalo saying this, shrugging sheepishly. This flows a lot better and in my experience, it’s more likely someone would say this instead of “I didn’t realize, I guess”.
Clint’s lines should be combined, and there should be some diction added in. “He looks almost like a kid, or like, an underage father. God, think about what he had to go through!” Way less choppy & has some rhythm to it, instead of sounding like a robot is saying it.
GOOD EXAMPLE:
““Stop texting me weird stuff so late at night.”
“It’s not weird,” Sam denies immediately, “You just don’t appreciate it.”
“Why would I appreciate—” Steve reads carefully off his screen, “—Buzzfeed’s ‘Which Possible Illuminati Member Are You?’ quiz?”
“Because everyone thinks you’re in the Illuminati anyway, so why not see if you get yourself, you know?”
“Okay, but at four am? What were you even doing up that early?”” - posted on March 2nd, 2019
Why it’s good:
This is one of those I suggest reading out loud to understand the flow. Banter, at least in this case, is like slapstick comedy, and it’s gotta go back and forth without going way off course (unless that’s the desired effect!). Steve says something, Sam picks something specific to react to & adds a comment that makes it seem like they’ve maybe had this conversation before, and from there, they pass the rhythm to each other. Going from the second-to-last to the last lines is part of the flow; Sam makes a point that Steve doesn’t want to refute, so he continues it in another way. “Okay, but” is like the hinge connecting one flow to another. I’m just talking in circles now but anYWAY THIS IS BACK AND FORTH.
TRY TO FIT THE CHARACTER
Think specifically about the character, and if it sounds like something they would say or not. That’s kinda hard at times, so just make sure you aren’t having them say things you can definitely NOT imagine them saying. I’m gonna go with Batman because we all know him enough to know what he absolutely would never ever say.
BAD EXAMPLE:
Batman says, “And I was like, ‘oh my god, is this serious? You’re just turning yourself in?’ And he said ‘hell yeah I am!’ and I almost died from the shock!”
Why it’s bad:
Batman is a character who doesn’t ramble and wouldn’t retell an event like this (by paraphrasing it & recounting exact exchanges). He’s a very stoic person, and this whole thing is more emotionally open and telling than he would be comfortable with. And while this flows, I can’t picture him saying it unless it’s a heavily AU’d version, which is generally not what you want.
GOOD EXAMPLE:
Batman says, “The Joker turned himself in last night. I assume he’s planning something, something big if he’s willing to go to Arkham for it.”
Why it’s good:
This is a lot more subtle with the emotions, and a lot more monotonous, which is what Batman would probably want to sound like when recounting an event like this. He WANTS to sound like a textbook or police report, which are serious and straight to the point. But he can still add his thoughts into the mix, e.g. “something big…”, which shows how he’s kind of surprised and is thinking about what it means.
YA CAN’T ALWAYS INPUT INFORMATION INTO THE DIALOGUE
Sometimes you really want or need to share some information with the readers, and an easy way to do that is with dialogue, right? Sometimes! This, like everything else, hinges on flow & the realisticness of the words. Some pieces of info need to be conveyed through thoughts or actions, and some of it just shouldn’t be shared, no matter how much you might want to include it.
BAD EXAMPLE:
“Bonnie asked, “so…Original vampire? What does that mean, exactly? If you don’t mind my asking, I mean.”
“It means that my siblings and I were turned into the very first vampires after the death of my youngest brother. Also turned were my father, sister-in-law, and nephew. All vampires in existence come from us.”” - posted on March 6th, 2017
Why it’s bad:
The OG vampire in question here is Elijah, and while it makes sense for the character to quickly summarize it, it doesn’t flow. He would probably react firstly to Bonnie’s last sentence, then answer more concisely, “It means that my family and I are the first vampires in existence.” Maybe with an additional comment about them being the source of all other vampires, but not much more. Being so specific chops up the rhythm and makes it harder to understand, almost, ‘cause that’s a lot of people to keep in consideration.
GOOD EXAMPLE:
““What are you talking about, Kev?” Cheryl sets her phone down, the picture of fully-invested. “Schools don’t just shut down in one day.”
Kevin flops into the other chair, breathing calmed for the most part. “Apparently they do. Dad told me they arrested a teacher there for selling Jingle Jangle to students, and when they were going through his office they found meth. The basement was being used as a meth lab. The whole thing’s being quarantined and shut down until further notice.”” - posted on August 2nd, 2018
Why it’s good:
It flows!!! For being secondhand information, it’s clear enough to understand without bombarding readers with extremely specific details. It reads almost like an online article, with enough feeling to make it interesting, while still explaining exactly what’s happened.
DIFFERENT MOODS/DYNAMICS
Something to think about when writing dialogue is what mood your characters are in, and what kind of relationship they have with the character(s) they’re talking to. If person A is in a bad mood and talking to someone they like, they might try to tamp down on the mood in order to be nice. If person B is in a great mood and talking to a stranger, they might be pretty exuberant and friendly. Etc etc. Gonna use Superman as an example (this is extremely cheesy but it shows the difference).
BAD EXAMPLE: (Mood)
Extremely annoyed, Superman tells Lex Luthor, “Lex, you’re crazy! Trying to take over Metropolis with a hair growing scheme is just stupid! I’m leaving!”
He goes on to his date with Lois, now as Clark Kent, and says with a smile, “Sorry I’m fifty-seven minutes late, Lex kept me at work! Anyway, how was your day?”
Why it’s bad:
Okay I know this is cheesy I’m sorry I wrote this at 2 am last night lkdjflksjdfhskjdfhjashf ANYWAY. Superman goes from talking to Lex, who he doesn’t like and is quite annoyed with, to talking to Lois, who he does like and presumably isn’t annoyed with at all. The problem here is that you usually can’t turn moods off like a switch. Even though Superman likes Lois, he wouldn’t walk into the date perfectly happy. The annoyance from dealing with Lex would stay with him (though it would probably fade the longer the date went on). I think instead of smiling, he would be rolling his eyes a little and complaining like, “I swear, he’s so inconsiderate….”, instead of immediately jumping into “how was your day?”
GOOD EXAMPLE: (Dynamic)
Superman laughs as Robin does a flip off his shoulder. “Good job! Maybe next time we could try it from a little higher up,” he winks.
Robin cheers, “Yes! Thanks, Uncle Clark!”
Superman nods and leaves, finding Batman in the hallway. Seriously, he says, “Batman.”
“Superman.”
“Did you get your report done? They’re due by this afternoon.”
Why it’s good:
Again with the cheese that’s my bad lmao. This is mostly to show that characters are gonna sound different when speaking to different people. When talking to Robin, who is a child and quite a friendly one at that, Superman is teasing and joking around. Then, when he talks to Batman, who’s a grown man and also his coworker, he’s more serious and to the point. Both situations fit his character but show he’s got different relationships with different people.
IN CONCLUSION, uhhhhh yeah follow these points and hopefully dialogue will come a little easier. Experiment and have fun with it (these aren’t rules, but guidelines!), and if there are any questions I’m happy to clear them up/answer them/whatever lol.

The rumor(s) that I mentioned I don’t like
So there is this person “Seymour” posting spoilers on Reddit, I believe.
I saw a lot of my Sharon stans mad because he had a rumor that Cap does NOT die, but rather that Peggy shows up and apologizes to him because the time loop actually started with her (I don’t understand this, because it would seem she would have to have been working with the Ancient One then?), and she never told him that HE is the husband she talked about in CATWS. He goes to live off the rest of his life in the 40s with her.
I actually don’t mind this on face value, I like Peggy too. I think Hayley Atwell is great. I am still sad Sharon got such short shrift.
But I think it DOES make it creepy that Cap kissed her, whereas I had never thought it was before. Does Sharon not know who her great-uncle was? Or was this all something Peggy told her she had to do? Weird.
Also wrt Steve’s characterization, I can’t imagine him sitting at home and being Peggy’s house husband when he KNOWS there are HYDRA elements infiltrating her workplace. (Although if he’s NOT sitting on his hands, this could explain why Nick Fury seems to still be in power in Spider-man: Homecoming?)
But then... what about Winter Soldier? He;s just going to LET Bucky get tortured for a few more decades before he gets pulled out? Because the Disney+ show isn’t called Falcon and Bucky, it’s called Falcon and the Winter Soldier? So... like IDK, it seemed like Steve was willing to do a lot for Bucky in CACW but suddenly he won’t?
Or Howard? Is he still going to let Bucky kill Howard?
And, like, Sam. How could he just leave Sam?
On the surface level I would be glad if he didn’t die, but I also have a LOT of questions about how this would work.
This Seymour person posted another spoiler about the Soul Stone that I don’t like. Initially he just said that Nat and Clint go to Vormir, and Clint gets the Soul Stone.
And I was like WHAT ARE YOU HIGH? Why would they send these two friends to Vormir to get the Soul Stone when Nebula has guessed what the price is, and Tony was also there for that discussion. Like, I don’t know, I wanted Nebula to convince the Gamora-ness of the Soul Stone to come to their side/I wanted sister stuff.
Not MORE ladies I like falling off cliffs.
He’s since said that Nat sacrifices herself because the Soul Stone, alone among the Infinity Stones, can’t be duplicated. Which I GUESS gives her more agency. But I maintain that Nebula could simply talk to her sister and we could figure this out without ladies dying.
And also, I know Clint and Nat are friends but wasn’t it something about the person you loved most? It’s not one of his KIDS or his WIFE? Cold, Clint.
Anyway, I had convinced myself this person was a liar and then Mark Ruffalo mentioned Evans getting married and now I am
SO SCARED.

The End: (Spoiler Free!)
I promise! NO SPOILERS! Though, I must say, if you're trying to avoid spoilers, you're currently doing a terrible job of it.
Plus, you havent seen it yet? What's wrong with you?! Quit fooling around with me and go now!
But, I digress.
"Part of the journey is the end"
We never want anything good to end. We never want anything to end badly.
I would say that this movie is about how we journey more so than how we end, but I'll get to that later.
Let's start off by paying homage to the beginning:
RDJ (Tony Stark)
- This dude had fallen off the map (at the time) - he had fallen off the wagon, the wall, the chain, the train, the mountain... if one could fall off of it, he was doing so , but Marvel put their confidence in him. No one knew how successful this whole thing was going to be. Not only were they trying to sell us a previously precarious actor, but a character who's a self-centered asshole... who profited off of war.
But, BOOM, Iron Man showed us that being an asshole could look good and make a lot of money.
CAPT AMERICA
- played by Chris Evans who had already failed as a superhero.
But, more than that, just look at Capt
He looks ridiculous. He's corny. A lil self-righteous. And who fights with a frickin shield? He was a military man, so he has access to all kinds of weapons (not to mention all that I'm sure Tony Stark would make for him), but nope! - he says "Gimme me a shield; that's all I need!" In fact, that's a lil cocky now that I think about it. Plus, they had just showed us that being rich asshole was the way to go, now this (the opposite)?
BUT, America is short on solid leadership. We're crying out for someone to consistently believe in; not perfection, but someone who's at least all in. Marvel gave us that in Capt. Over time, we grew to love this man. Not to mention, that beard he rocked,
and the ass of America (you’ll get that later).
Idk about y'all, but I'd follow Capt anywhere. If Chris Evans were to dress up like Capt America, and recruit people for a war (any war), I'd legit go! He IS Captain America to me.
SCARJO as Black Widow... how do I put this?
In the beginning, she was simply a pair of boobs in tight black.
Now, I don't mean that's actualy what she was, but that's how many saw her. Black Widow carried with her the power to be objectified, and not just by men. I can remember when there were rumors that women in the industry were jealous of Scarjo, saying she's only getting quality roles cuz she's a pretty face.
She proved the doubters wrong though. She is and has been a great actress! Black Widow is seen now with the respect that she has always deserved. Honestly, if I can't have Capt lead me, my second choice is Widow.
We can go on and on, right??
HULK - we had two Hulk failures before Mark Ruffalo, but he has played him perfectly, and they finally got the Hulk right.
Hawkeye...
Well, I kinda feel like his superpower is being lame, so that's ok :) There's one in every group. And can we all agree that bow and arrows as a main weapon is just stupid? Dude, there are people shooting guns at you! You've gotta take the time to pick out the correct arrow, aim, and... you know what?? never mind. He's Black Widow's boy, so he's alright with me. And it adds to my point that no one knew this would work.
And who knew that Chris Hemsworth would end up being their comedy anchor??
I never thought the Thor movies would work. I never thought that The Avengers movie would work (no way they could make all of the characters work together in a movie), but I have never been so wrong:)
We've laughed with them and cried with them, and were brought to the end by Thanos' snap with them.
I can still remember what the theatre felt like after leaving "Infinity War" - people felt lost, confused, and kinda angry Not me of course, I was that jerk rooting for Thanos:) In "Infinity War" we got to see Thanos' side of the war. He doesn't see himself as a villain. I agree with his philosophy of balance.
Now, I would never choose him over The Avengers. I feel like the Avengers would make good bosses. They'd have bonuses, allow for a union (maybe), and definitely have pizza parties. Thanos might appreciate my loyalty and sacrifice me (literally) for higher production in the same breath.
One might say "Why not use the stones to create more resources?" I'd reply "But, then we don't learn anything."
The team definitely learned some hard lessons here. But, that brings us to this part of the journey "The End" -
Who do you blame? Do we just look at Thanos as the villain? Do we go with "Shit Happens"? A will of a higher power? Or are the Avengers culpable in anyway? It's all up for debate.
Anyway,
I break down this movie into four acts -
1 - ? (something I won't share:) 2 - Dealing with loss 3 - Hope 4 - Action (most of it is saved for the end - this is mainly a drama)
FIRST, the act I won't be talking about. Instead... many had theories and wishes going into this film, allow me to share some of mine.
I was hoping for a revelation that Thanos has been Stan Lee the whole time.
He rips off his mask in Mission Impossible fashion. We find out that he did the snap to get rid of characters that he really didn't care for. The Avengers respect Stan so much that they don't try to fight him, instead they simply move on. In doing so, Tony and Capt America realize their love for one another. Tony decides he'd rather marry Capt over Potts (his current fiance). This makes Potts furious and she storms off.
They have a big wedding with a shawarma reception. The ants from Ant Man perform at the wedding.
Meanwhile, Potts teams up with Thanos aka Stan Lee, they gather all of characters forgotten in each series:
Natalie Portman, Jennifer Connelly (not her fault that old Hulk movie sucked), Terrance Howard... so on and so forth.
Stan Lee, Potts, and the scorned attack The Avengers, and there's an epic battle to bg music by Drake.
PERFECTION RIGHT?!! I'm not saying that any of that happens, but I'm not saying that it doesn't.
2nd Act - Loss
Like I said, this is mainly a drama. They do a really good job (as always) at pulling out the humanity in these characters. All of the team are dealing with loss. Some remain strong on the outside, some move on, some move on poorly, some become self-destructive, etc.
The humanity in that is something we can all relate to. Loss is something that we all continue to experience and learn how to cope with every day. They're painting this real picture with a comic book series. Crazy, right??
Big help from great actors though.
RDJ always brings it; no surprise there. But, for me, Chris Evans and Scarjo shine the brightest as far as bringing the drama. Seriously, when Scarjo cries we cry.
Act 3 is about hope.
... even if that hope may be false. Again the humanity brought out in the characters here is what makes it work. Hope is an interesting thing - Some deny it, some embrace it, some don't want it, some twist it, etc.
And again the acting and writing in this area is superb. I include the writing as well, cuz they know how to blend in humor with all of this tragedy. Chris Hemsworth is the man here! He is the rock of comedy in this movie. And I can't say enough about Mark Ruffalo - in fact I've knighted him as one of my dads. He's perfect for the role, but don't you also just want to play catch with him?
I just want to go to a ball game with Mark Ruffalo; am I alone in that? - probably:)
Lastly, we have act 4 - ACTION
And while this is mostly a drama, they make up for it at the end. Now, Marvel has that formula, and they stick to it here. They find everyone they can (who's still alive), CG them up to the max, and toss them in the ring. - And I don't say this in a bad way. Sometimes, the big CG ending in these types of movies ends up being a lil overwhleming or not well thought out, but not here - the writing and the choreography and the CG continue to hold up through the end.
The funny thing about all of the people that they throw in is some of them you probably won't even remember. Some of them don't have any lines - you just see them fighting in the background. Some people only show up to stand there in silence (what an easy day of work).
Everything leading up to a fitting poetic end.
Grade: A
The end was dope, but it's all about the journey, baby! We don't have too much control over when or how the story is going to end. You never know what could happen: sickness, drivers who simultaneously text, aliens (honestly, that's how I wanna go... battling aliens), our doppelgangers eliminating us and stealing our identities (a growing concern for most), ghosts...
I came across this pic while looking for ghosts
- THAT is a sexy ass ghost. Cheer up, fellah, I think she digs you! If ghost start killing people by means of paranormal sexiness, perhaps I'd sign up. If only we got to decide how we go.
But, no one talks about the end of our lives, people reflect on the life journeyed - unless you die in some hilarious manner
Some of us will be like Iron Man - starting out an asshole, but becoming a hero.
Some like Groot - your life gets blown up and you get to start fresh
Some will become something a bit mutated due to the sins of others
Some will get tagged on to the adventures of others cuz they shine so brightly :)
Still others will start lame, get lamer, and die lame :)
Hell of a movie. It's been a hell of a journey. Thanks, Avengers peeps!

MCU Rewatch: Iron Man 3
Iron Man 3: A Christmas Story
This is a hard movie to really ground myself in an opinion. I’m.... conflicted about it in a lot of ways. There are some really, really good things here. And then there are some really awful things, too.
The interesting thing about the Phase One movies (as varying in quality as they were) they not only established the characters - but there was a clear direction in the assembling of the Avengers. Phase Two, I don’t believe, doesn’t have the same kind of focus - and if anything, it’s more geared towards long term goals of Infinity War than Avengers 2. The funny thing, though, is that this next batch of stories is more about the characters own little bubble worlds -- but they don’t/can’t exist like that anymore. We’re to the point that absences feel jarring.
Anyway - more to the point of this particular film.
The thing I really liked -- Tony and his inner demons. Look, I know more people probably wanted Iron Man in general, but I loved this Tony -- struggling with PTSD, and what happened to him in the Avengers. I loved that he was stripped down to just him and his wits and having to work with a 10yo to get himself back together. All of the characterization that Tony went through in this film was by far the best part of it. I could have done with two hours of this stuff and less of the actual plot plot.
I also liked that Don Cheadle is more comfortable in his role as Rhodey - and I’m totally here for Tony and Rhodey’s friendship. Wish there had been even more of it.
Then there’s all this other stuff. I think this film works extremely well on first watch through. It’s tense - the Mandarin is incredibly effective, dark, and down right scary upon first watch. But once you know the twist -- I’m not sure it really holds up upon rewatch. As for the big Mandarin reveal? I mean - I’m a little torn. I did think it was funny. But I’m not sure how I’d feel if they pulled that in X-men with, say Magneto. Idk, idk. But, I mean, since he’s never coming back anyway - why not?
As for the Aldrich Killian and the Extremis virus stuff -- it’s fine. I don’t really like the super glowy bad guys (they just felt almost like robots - and it distracted from an otherwise very grounded film). And the plot seemed overly complex for the sake of it at times. But - it was fine. The only thing I really didn’t like was the waste of the female scientist. She’s used by Tony, then used by Killian, and then easily discarded. It bugged me.
Then, let’s see -- oh right, Pepper. **sigh** I don’t know. It’s the first time it’s felt more like a Gwyneth Paltrow cameo more than Pepper Potts. I feel slightly cheated that they reverted back to superhero tropes of the girl getting kidnapped and needing to be saved. I mean they get a few points for letting her be in the Iron Man suit and taking down Killian at the end. Just -- it seems like they weren’t really sure what to do with her. And the relationship stuff is just -- murky at best? I’m fine with them just working it out in the end cause I don’t really need to delve too much into that mess.
Meanwhile - the ending might be the most peculiar thing of the movie. First of all, the ending sequence felt like it dragged a bit on. I saw the thought floating around a while ago that Marvel - you don’t need a 30 minute action sequence at the end of your film if it sacrifices good character moments - and I second that. However, I don’t mind all the suits being used. But then there’s the whole -- I’m blowing up all the suits and having surgery and that’s the end of Iron Man.
Narratively, it makes sense as the end of the Iron Man trilogy. It wraps up and feels final. But... Iron Man’s gonna be back in Avengers 2. So... Huh? Okay, fine. I suppose it’s best not to think about it too much.
Smaller Thoughts:
I liked the kid. Whatever. Precursor to Tony as Dad and mentor to Spidey.
Reference to Thor made by the villain!
I’m kind of surprised there were no other cameos from other MCU characters.
Final Thoughts: This feels like a fitting end to the Iron Man trilogy, but it’s slightly awkward in it’s placement within the MCU. We get some amazing Tony Stark characterization, but a ridiculous and convoluted plot.
Infinity Stone Watch: None that I can think of -- everything is where we left it.
After the Credits: We see that Tony’s going to therapy (which - yeah, he should probably do) however it’s with Bruce Banner (!!) and Mark Ruffalo is just falling asleep listening to Tony talk cause, you know, he’s not that kind of doctor.

MCU, 3.
Why do you hate me?
3. James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes MY METAL-ARMED BABY!! AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
2. Natasha “Black Widow” Romanoff Hell yeah!! Still think the romance with Bruce was a little (a lot) sudden, but aside from that, I really like where the MCU has taken her character.
Honorable Mentions
Wanda Maximoff Another one where I like where they’ve taken her character.
Clint “Hawkeye” Barton Don’t listen to the haters, Clint. I’ve always thought you were cool. (*still secretly ships clintasha*)
Steven “Captain America” Rogers HELL YEAH STEVE!!! He’s like the awesome big brother who gives you hugs and reminds you to brush your teeth.
Dr. Bruce “the Incredible Hulk” Banner I know it’s nitpicky, but I still haven’t gotten over how PERFECT Mark Ruffalo’s face shape is for Bruce. No long-face-smushed-into-square-head-upon-transformation. Square-shaped head before, square-shaped head after. Also, Mark’s soft spoken take on Bruce. Like...he’s not cowardly, he’s not necessarily shy. He just doesn’t feel the need to yell. Idk. I like that.
T’Challa “The Black Panther” HELL YEAH!!! BADASS PANTHER PRINCE!!!! Can’t wait for his movie. That actor immediately took over the role and sucked me into his performance.
Thor Odinson Another big brother who’ll remind you to brush your teeth. Only this one might accidentally crush you because he gets excited and hugs you too tight.
Frigga Allmother GOD MOM IS BEST MOM!!! FUCKING FIGHT ME!!!!
Lady Sif Badass warrior in a profession surrounded by men. She was forced to prove herself to become a warrior, and boy did she! I just wish I could have seen it.
The Vision Sweet robot cinnamon roll. Don’t break Wanda’s heart, or you’re fucking dead.
Agent Phil Coulson COULSON!!!!!
Anthony “Tony” “Iron Man” Stark It’s taken a while, but I’ve finally warmed up to Tony. I mean, not that I didn’t like him as a character. RDJ wasn’t just born to play Tony; he IS Tony.
Peter “Spider-Man” Parker This new kid, Tom Holland, has the perfect blend of awkward nerdiness and quick-witted quips that the comics Spidey is known for. Toby MacGuire was a bit too much of the awkward, and--though I still love him as Spidey--Andrew Garfield was too much of the cool. Tom Holland? He has just the right amount of each. I hope he goes places.
Director Nicholas “Nick” Fury Because Samuel L. Jackson. Duh. He’s a bad motherfucker.
Pietro Maximoff He’s not dead. He can’t be dead. They don’t kill people off in the MCU. And he would have been such a great character to add to the team! Plus...he was cute.
That all of them? Idk. If I think of any new ones, I’ll add them. Maybe. Moving on!
1. Loki Laufeyson Duh. Did you really think anybody else would make this top spot? I don’t think so. I have enough Loki-related rants scattered throughout my Tumblr page that I would just be repeating myself putting them here. Just know that, in my heart, Loki always reigns supreme.

The Adam Project: “Gravy Time!”
What is Ryan Reynolds? Is he an action star? When you think about the category of action heroes, does Reynolds pop up? He doesn't for me. I think of The Rock, Statham, and even 69 year old Liam Neeson before Reynolds. But, the man has done a lot of action, and he's good at it. He's certainly cut enough for it.
Almost as ripped as I am. Liam Neeson doesn't look like that. And yet, I'd pick Neeson over Reynolds to be in the next Fast & Furious movie.
(Look at those eyes... he’s thinking about beating somebody’s ass right now.)
Is Reynolds a comedian? A comedic actor? Again, thinking of this category, I think Kevin Hart, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon... all before Reynolds. And yet, he has made me laugh so much over the decades. I love the guy, but what the hell is he? Idk.
He typically finds himself in some shit, and then jokes his way out of it, while kicking some ass. This is 90% of every Ryan Reynolds movie you've ever seen; this movie will be no different.
The "Some Shit":
When we meet Ryan Reynolds, he's going by the name of Adam, and he's stealing a... not quite what you may think of when you think time machine, but more of a Time Jet In the future, there are all kinds of time-traveling transportation: time jets, time boats, time Ubers, you can rock an app to pick up a time scooter. Well, I'm exaggerating, but they'd sure get there. The future is awesome! But, of course, some rich white person has to spoil it for everybody. This lady here (our villain)
monopolizes time travel, hoards the tech, and rules over it... so no more time-rollerblading for the kids.
I was really expecting an old white man to be the overlord of time; sexist, I know, but big-ups to it being an old white lady instead. In the future, we achieved equality (at least among the sexes), now women can be super villains too. You go, gurl.
I'm not really sure about her motives or why she hates Adam so much (besides Adam stealing a time jet, though c'mon, Ryan Reynolds' will be Ryan Reynolds', right??), but she has killed A LOT of people in the name of greed and a lust for power. She is Sorian, hear her roar! What a great super villain name.
Here comes the part where Deadpool jokes his way through, while kicking some ass.
YEAH!
Reynolds always needs a partner in jovial ass kicking, so he enlists the only one who can keep up - himself.
But, it's his 12 year old self.
I like this kid. The cool thing is that he has Reynolds' mannerisms and comedic timing down - to the point where before we even see Ryan Reynolds, we're like - "That kid's Ryan Reynolds!". I think this is new, right?? Who ever goes into battle with their younger selves? Wait, has Will Smith ever done that? I vague;y remember him FIGHTING his younger self or something. Has Keanu? Was it done in Terminator? I honestly can't remember, but it feels new!
Young Adam is a jerk, especially to his mom (Jennifer Garner). Sometimes, with stories like this, I start wishing that the child’s mother was black. I can't imagine a black mom allowing her child to speak to her the way young Adam does to Garner. They really should have had Madea play the role of his mother.
That would have added a whole other level to this movie. I'm starting to think that Ryan Reynolds should inexplicably do a string of Tyler Perry movies, further confusing us of what he actually is. Ryan Reynolds would make a great token white guy.
The effects in this movie are good as well, at least when it comes to the fighting. Some badass choreography scenes end in lasers and people disintegrating. And yet, with the budget for all of that, the photoshop of certain actors in family photos was awful. There's one picture in particular that made me laugh out loud; it was of Adam's dad, played by Mark Ruffalo.
I love this guy. I feel like Ruffalo is always playing the perfect dad. Even here, where he's actually playing a dad who's too busy with work to be the dad he'd like to dad, he's still kinda the perfect dad somehow.
With that mad scientist hair of his.
What the hell was going on in that scene. See that, even while looking like a befuddled ghost, he still makes me want him as my dad.
This is a good family flick - no cursing, no blood, except for when adult Adam and his dad go at it, briefly, which I guess IS domestic violence, technically. But, it's playful DV. And honestly, what son doesn't want to take a swing at his father, and vice versa? Then, they just laugh and grab a beer at the nudie bar. That's love... good man-love:)
Adding to the cast of good actors,we have Jennifer Garner (as mentioned) and Zoe Saldana. I don't think I've ever seen Zoe cry so much in any other movie. She plays Adam's girlfriend. ADULT Adam's gf... let's not get weird. She really loves herself some Adam. She kicks some ass along side him, and then cries as she stares into his eyes.
Have you ever been involved with someone who makes you cry when you look at them, due to your intense love for them? Yeah, me either. Maybe one day. If we're not using up a box of tissues everyday around our lovers, then it's not the real thing.
The performances in this movie provide some feels for ya: some father and son feels, some boyfriend and girlfriend feels, some mother and son feels. Even Ryan Reynolds has some moments of genuine drama. I only wish this were a better movie to give these actors their shine.
It's a good idea for a movie, but I found that it felt like just that - an idea, but not so much a story.
Let's say I come to you with an idea for a show. I tell you that "I've got this idea, and it's called GRAVY TIME! with Ryan Reynolds" You might ask "What's the show about?" I'd be like "What are you talking about?? It's Gravy Time! with Ryan Reynolds! It'll be gravy, and maybe some meats... and RYAN REYNOLDS!"
We'll put it on Fox!
You'd be like "What?" It's not like the plan for this idea is complicated, it's just not presented. This movie is just - bad lady messes up time, so Ryan Reynolds has to stop her. And anytime that the movie requires some explaining, they just toss a bunch of technical gibberish at you and say "SCIENCE!"
They also could have shaved 15-20 off the run time. Despite this, Deadpool, some other good actors, and disintegrating bad guys save it for me. I still enjoyed the ride.
Grade: B-
It's weird though, that there are a few times when the older self meets the younger self, and the older self is talking a lot of smack. I think that the younger self always has the power in this sitch. At any time, the younger self could simply say "I'm deciding now that I don't want to be this asshole that I'm talking to." And your older self would cease to be, right?
It'd be cool to go visit your younger self's timeline though. I might go back to my high school scene. Beat up some people who gave me a hard time, use ideas from the present and invest in them in the past, or maybe even date some of my teachers.
Though I guess I don't need a time machine for any of these things. I could track down irritants, and teachers as well... they'd be in their 50's, 60's , or 70's but... we could make that date action work. And I don't think there has ever been a better moment to invest in
