so, with june coming around the corner, and by extension summer i was thinking of trying to start some trend relating to summer, but not like last year with the beach trend (which i sadly missed, but it was awesome to see happen!)

that being said tho, i was tryna come up with something else other than a beach when i thought maybe a road trip?

like, maybe someone has a road trip/vacation planned for anyone in the tsp fandom to take part in (we get a shuttle bus, and everyone is invited, money mysteriously appears so we can cover the expenses for everyone)

but then i got the idea of having it so its the start of the road trip first as a trend, but then doing something like paratober but condensed down into a week or a few days or so, where its your tsp characters actually at some locations visiting it (like, theres a prompt where were at some mountains and going on a hike, or a forest, maybe one where everyone is under some aurora borealises, to even just everyone at a bar for the night)

TLDR on the potential plan:

For a few weeks or so, there will be a vacation thread where you can draw your narrators, stanleys, mariellas, curators, buckets, lines, 432s, TKs, jims, etc etc, either preparing or already ready for a road trip

this can be an outfit, bags packed, maybe everyone rushing around, your characters inside the bus or outside, yknow, pre road trip/vacation vibes

After a few weeks, theres a schedule of some sort of places everyone might go to for this trip. this is the prompt list much like for things like mermay and paratober, which are essentially for things your characters to do, like a real vacation

this would be prompts like visiting a waterfall, going to a forest, going to a resturaunt, hotels, being on the road, visiting an iceberg, going to the beach, road trip games, etc

but yeah! thats the idea skdjhff

BSD Sigma Theory

Ive been seeing people speculate about if Sigma is based upon an author or not. Some of the most popular theories are that he is Sergey Nikolaevich Syromyatnikov who used Sigma as a pseudonym, BUT I raise you yet another theory.

An American author, Julian Osgood Field, also used the pseudonym Sigma. And he happens to have been responsible for multiple financial scandals including fraud and even forging some officials signature or something. I found this intriguing because of the whole Sky Casino thing.

He was also alive around the same time as Bram Stoker who is also in DoA if Im not mistaken (I've only watched up to season 4, so I could be missing crucial info, but idk bare with me I feel like I cooked). So We know the org. is not exclusivley Russian. Julian Osgood Field wrote "A Kiss of Judas" which is also a story about a vampire. In fact, I believe he and Stoker had some actual real life connection, but I havent looked into it enouch to deduce what it was if it existed. Its somewhat mentioned in a book about vampires in literature: Vampyres : Lord Byron to Count Dracula, by Christopher Frayling. I think its an anthology of works that inspired Stoker's Dracula. I could be wrong, though.

Many of the things he wrote seem dark and have titles that include "Devil" and such with biblical themes, so it also reminds me of Fyodor in that regard. He even has one called "The Luck of the Devil".

Idk lmk what you think. This just fits more than Sergey Nikolaevich Syromyatnikov. I cant find any reason for him to be the link, if there is any link to a real author at all.

I think he doesn't develop feelings easily ( infact it's kinda hard for him to, not in a bad way )but one time there was a yokai, about his size, and they really enjoyed each other

He didn't tell anyone but he got her number and they still talk and he might have small feelings for her

The reason he hates being alone because it's a PTSD thing ( that only got worse after the kraang thing )

( he was alone and in danger for most of the movie, the only reason he wasn't freaking out because he knew if he did he was fucked )

And he got possessed before he could even lose his shit

But basically I think he got kidnapped by a hunter and held him captive ( either chained, or in a cage ) for 2 days before splinter found him

( yes they searched for him for 2 days )

He was only holding it together for Leo tbh

He can't go to certain areas or he'll start to hear the hunter yelling in his face again, like a hallucination

It's gotten a little bit better over time but the kraang set him so far back

He was also already claustrophobic, but if anyone tries to hold him down now he just immediately throws them off

What the fuck IS with all the hate for matt? I don't get it, he's a perfectly serviceable dm. Is there context that I'm missing or is it just that he's not their fav? I've seen some similar tribalism from WBN fans toward Murph and NADDPOD. Why are people so animalistic about their favourite adults who play pretend professionally?

I first heard about it when the last season of d20 was announced (the ravening war) and matt was dming it. There was some twitter drama w a couple d20 fans who are specifically acoc fans that were worried that matt was going to ruin / not live up to the fan lore that their community had already created. It got taken out of context and it got rowdy from both sides and honestly like just got too far with people censoring matts name, bringing up his vest thing (he has said in an interview in the past that he struggles with body dysmorphia and his vests makes him feel more comfortable in his own skin)

Idk! The most legitimate reason ive found is issues with his world building when they did an arc in a south/southeast asian inspired setting, but as far as i know he did hire cultural consultants i think after that was brought up? Idk its hazy for me because it was so long ago if anyone knows the details of that lmk

The handful of bullshit reasons ive heard is he follows the rules too much/doesnt follow the rules enough, isnt funny, a boring storyteller, etc. Whenever they say i like brennan more than matt they usually talk more about how they dislike matt and less about what they think makes brennan good. ive had some thoughts about leshawna for a while that i've never expressed in much detail because im not sure how to eloquently do so but im gonna try to anyway

disclaimer i am white and therefore there's a chance that i'll miss out on some nuance or phrase things in an iffy way, if so please lmk or correct me

so like the total drama characters are based off of teen stereotypes right. at least the gen 1 cast are. but leshawna isnt based off of a teen stereotype, her thing is ""sassy black woman"" and that makes her character. weird

she isn't the only racially stereotyped character in the show ((most of the black men in the show especially lightning have elements of racial stereotyping imo)) but she's the only character where that's her entire thing and her whole personality is just a racist caricature

and that makes talking about her a little weird? it's not that she doesn't have other traits (i rlly like her strong sense of justice and willingness to do what she feels is right no matter what) but like. i don't know how i'd write her in a fic because to replicate the dialogue and mannerisms from the show would feel racist. but if i didn't then she'd be out of character.

she's also really underdeveloped for the amount of screentime she had, a very valid point that people bring up is that people rarely talk about leshawna without talking about her relationships with others (eg with heather or harold) but the thing is that not much happens to her that doesn't involve someone else. she's like a side character in everyone else's plotlines and she doesn't get one of her own unless u count the action thing which was stupid and sucked

what im trying to say is that the majority of us can agree that we like leshawna and she deserves more attention. but i dont know how to.

do we just collectively come up with a fanon version of her that has more to her than a racist caricature so we can talk about that version instead?? has that already happened and i just havent seen it?? idk.

okay listen i cannot emphasize how much thought has been put into this, i have backstories for each of the pokemon, i know how all of them met their trainers, ive designated the serious trainers with a specific type of pokemon they train, like. listen to me. i have put SO much thought into this and how pokemon would fit into the lmk universe and canon. im going insane.

anyways, heres some of the pokemon/trainer lineups. ive done..... a large majority of the important cast? i havent gone into azure's whole group, but i think thats all im missing. i've done a lot.

okay okay some notes:

Pigsy didn't want MK having too many pokemon, partially because of mess/healthcode violations, and also because of money reasons. he had just the one pokemon the for the majority of his life, and after 'A Hero Is Born' pigsy was 1. so glad that MK was alive that he didn't care and 2. mk promised to keep it away from the kitchen and pay for all of its needs itself and ect ect. it was very much a 'PLEAAAASEEE can I keep it 🥺' kind of thing. The Kubfu mainly stays at the training ground (its very dedicated), so that wasn't an issue.

For Mei, she chose the trapinch (the preevolution of the vibrava) at the pokemon equivalent of a pet store bc its a tradition in the family to get a dragon-type pokemon when they turn twelve. her parents showed her a bunch of options and she thought the final evolution looked epic. The Boltund is known for chasing fast things, including vehicles. it chased her until the finish line and she was delighted to have attracted such a fast pokemon. the pawmi was just a little guy that she was secretly messing with instead of paying attention to red son XD

okay there's not too much extrapolation i have to go into for red son, BUT. the fact that none of his pokemon have evolved was/is a major sore point for him, and his parents often were critical on whether they (and by proxy, red son) were strong enough. Now he and his parents are more normal about it, and ironically its the lack of stress and pressure that's going to make it easy for them to evolve now. smth smth friendship is an important part of a pokemon's health, its like a whole character arc for him.

AND THATS NOT ALL. I wanted to go over like... specifically why i chose some of these pokemon!! like, for MK, his pokemon represent different parts of him, like, narratively!

the whimscott is playful, loves pranks, and its kind of a metaphor for the more childish side of him? Which is why i made it his first pokemon! (I also chose it because it reminded me of the monkey kings cloud, which i feel like his younger self would have wanted sooo bad LMAO)

the monferno is obviously related to his connection to the monkey king, but most importantly it hangs in packs, and THEREFORE represents his love for his friends bc obviously that's a huge part of him, yk? (I also really like this pokemon for him bc it matches his color scheme XD)

And for the Kubfu, the episode it was found on is very important! the kubfu is known for how dedicated it is to its training both its body and its mind, as well as its "fighting spirit". Sooo obviously it represents MK's sense of duty and his want to train to be better! He and his kubfu train a LOT in season 2, when he's trying to prepare for the LBD. (Fun Fact: this was almost Wukong's pokemon, but i couldnt stop drawing connections to MK when looking at it because its got the little bandana and everything, and i thought it was too similar to him to be wukongs pokemon. i mean, if he already mentored that pokemon, that would make the fact that he's mentoring MK way less meaningful, yk?)
