Kirby was the cook of the house before (cuz are you really gonna trust Radio and Lampy to cook?) and Toaster shows interest in cooking as well as food, so Kirby teaches him what he knows about cooking and this leads to Toaster becoming the chef of the Cabin)

If you're wondering where I've been, it's actually that things got MEGA busy on my end. Between the new year, a small promotion at work, getting a license to operate an X-ray machine for extremities (i have no idea how this happened man i have an applied science degree in dead people), learning some Java, and making travel plans to visit my partner overseas, it's been hectic but good.

My honest feeling is that they don't know what a chimera is, BUT, I'm actually glad about that.

I would 100% rather they go with having her be possessed by a dead stillborn rather than them making her rare, ultimately harmless genetic quirk "the reason" why she's haunted. The stillborn haunting is the sort of concept I've come to accept in the setting (though I do have my critiques and reservations about another Evil Voice plotline, especially given the shitshow that was Splashstar in the last book of ASC), but there are DEEP layers to how messed up the implication of "zygote souls" would be.

Others have been joining into the convo in the meanwhile, tho. In essence, I agree with @mothdapple's thoughts on the subject. I hope the voice isn't wholly evil, and I hope that the haunting doesn't stem from her chimerism.

I'm betting that she gets a weird shipping moment with one of her cousins tbh. Especially if she survives this arc and doesn't become a medcat. You just know they'll open up the next arc with her and Sunkit being mates with 400 babies if you ship her with a girl too hard lmaooo

MANNNNN. You CANNOT convince me that I'm not correct about this at this point. The first 4 times it might have been coincidence, but they seem to have pinpoint accuracy for sinking popular LGBT headcanons and hetconning straight romance into old material.

PlumThrift is sooooo back. It's basically what they've shown in the first book of CS. Soccer moms and their weird ass kid who they're desperately pushing to be an overachiever LET'S GOO. The most likely thing that will happen is that Moonpaw is a PlumThrift kitten-- unless something big changes.

(Though I am a little bit saddened that I can't do the cool Phantom of the Opera mask thing which came from Bayshine... unless Moon was honor sired, of course. Or maybe adopted. Hmm...)

For Oakkit, Sunkit, and Hazelkit though, I'm leaning towards what anon mentioned. Their canon parents are Myrtlebloom/Flipclaw, so it would be very easy for me to change to FlipBay because of my pre-emptive fixes. It'll match canon, and I have also grown fond of the idea of the two silly dads.

(plus then it's extra easy to have Moonpaw come from the first surrogated litter which was for PlumThrift to raise, and the second litter is for FlipBay. Biologically full siblings, socially cousins.)

That said, there's still a small chance they get shuffled over to ShellFern. Or, more radically, I might end up sending them over to StormCherry. If that doesn't happen though, don't worry, I'm still keeping Honeyfur and Leafshade in my back pocket in case there's no other opportunities to give them kids.

I will say this for certain though-- PlumThrift BB!Moonpaw would never have full siblings. She will be the only child they ever raise. If the canon parents ever have another litter, they would immediately get shuffled to FlipBay or someone else.

Sunbeam's kittens are, of course, Finchlight's. im punting that other thing into RiverClan. GIT.

OTHER FUN STUFF

I do actually want more mushroom names broadly, because sapient cats would actually be REALLY interested in fungi. I'd even say they'd be more interested in them than flowers. A lot of edible fungi have a chemical compound that makes them smell and taste like meat, so imo, they should be kind of like natural snacks or treats you can find while out and about.

Kinda like how humans have fruit, a culture of cats would have mushrooms. I plan on researching and writing a VERY elaborate mushroom guide at some point explaining this all in-depth (which I will be going thru my little "rolladex" of artists to illustrate it, when it's time), so I don't want to dive into the details just yet.

But in terms of names...

Something I wish I'd been able to do more of is weird, hard-to-translate prefixes. Scents that humans overlook, more time-related names about seasons or crepuscular events, categories of birds and invertebrates, etc.

Petricorfur, Prey-scent-tail, Arionbelly (a particularly large slug for eating), Rascalheart (a particularly feisty bit of prey that gives you a good chase), Thermalhawk (a thermal is a rising wind that allows birds of prey to soar more easily) etc.

If I was going back and scrounging up Glitch Warriors for other Clans, or just generally shaking up the prefixes, I would add names with these "themes" into each Clan;

Thunder: Sweet things and more wood-related terms Nectar, Drupe, Sap, Pith, Grain, bark textures like Fissure, Scale, Tessel.

River: More aquatic animal terms, poetic imagery, and "beautiful" things Caddis, Cray, Salmon, Roe, Mussel, Pearl, Dazzle, Twirl, Dance, Sway, Mirror (for the state of water when it's absolutely calm).

Wind: Sounds, events around the time of birth Bellow, Hiss, Roar, Crackle, Swale (if born around the time of a muirburn), Journey (if born out of camp), Drowsy (for a long birth)

Shadow: Mushrooms, wetland terms, fermentation effects, names that might otherwise sound like insults to other Clans Cake, Candle, Jelly, Parasol, Elf, Sphagnum, Gas, Drake (male duck), Muck, Peat, Bog, Fizzle, Bubble, Rot, Blight, Gnat, etc.

Sky: Cars and Suburban Terms Truck, Bike, Cycle, Wheel, Asphalt, Lawn, Fence, Board, Shingle, etc.

I also really want to put Vetch in someplace. It's a pretty normal and common kind of flower, I just think the name is neat.

He pleased Scarletella for help but he didn't do anything, simply watching as he slowly died

so, we're leaving harrow and yandere twin trying to learn for the first time how to not die by crossing the River because the emperor plans things terribly and mercysomething is too preoccupied being upset at everything all the time

So you've heard Earthspark Season 3 is pretty good

Or maybe you just want to see the small screen's post-IDW take on Everyone's Favorite War Criminal (I'm not judging) but you heard season 2 is a hot mess.

Fear not! Under the cut, I present the cliffnotes of season two, so you can easily go into season three without having to watch season two! (or even season one, I guess, because I'm an overachiever)

Season Two Cliffnotes:

Decepticons are bad again. Starscream is in charge.

Something (I forget what tbh) creates 'chaos energy' and 'chaos terrans' which are terrans, but 'born bad'. They're named Aftermath and I forget the other one, but she's essentially Twitch's evil twin.

At a carnival, Mo, and the Terrans (I think all of them? idk it doesn't matter) get caught up in the nonsense of a guy named Fairmaestro. The big twist is Fairmaestro's super cool UFO space carnival ride is actually Cosmos! He fucks off into space at the end of the ep. Meanwhile Robbie meets a girl named Izzy and has a crush.

The Decepticons have also decided fucking off into space is a good idea (they want to go back to Cybertron. I forget why the Autobots don't want to), except Starscream wants to kill Megatron and OP or something, I don't remember, so they don't. Or they might've been trying to get control of a space bridge?

Mo and Thrash (I think? Definitely Mo though) meet a Quintesson.

Starscream does Stuff and raises a Titan named Terrortronus who lives under Witwicky (I think), and is powered with chaos energy. (see above), which ends up draining Aftermath & Twitch's Evil Twin of energy. Starscream also gets something called the Cyberslayer (I think) that can kill cybertronians. But also bring them back?

The kids and the Terrans realize they can 'sync', which means they turn into a combiner ship thing or something and create a dome around Terrortronus and part of Witwicky, which results in all the Decepticons being contained. Because Starscream is stuck inside Terrortronus, Shockwave takes over the Decepticons, whose goals are now to 1) escape 2) fuck off to Cybertron.

Season 1 Cliffnotes:

First, I really recommend watching season 1! It's very fun and stands on its own.

Robbie and Mo (siblings) find the Emberstone and get these cool cybersleeves, which allow them to feel each other's emotions. Finding the Emberstone also brings about the creation of two new bots (Terrans) named Twitch and Thrash, who are Robbie and Mo's partners, respectively.

The kids' mom, Dot, fought in the war and is buddies with Megatron, who defected to the Autobots at some point. Their dad, Alex, is a college professor and a Bumblebee stan.

Transformers/Cybertronians are known to humanity and there's even a comic series about them!

The Autobots & Megatron are working for a secretive organization called G.H.O.S.T. (I forget what it stands for). G.H.O.S.T. has lots of secret bases and whatever. Agent Schloder works for G.H.O.S.T. and is also a Bumblebee stan.

Bumblebee and Breakdown are umm "brothers"

In the midseason finale (I think) Robbie and Mo end up creating three new Terrans: Hashtag, Nightshade, and Jawbreaker. Hashtag's whole thing is social media (obviously) and Nightshade is a nonbinary science prodigy who makes a whole secret base for the Maltos, Autobots, and Terrans. The main threat is a guy named Mandroid, who hates Cybertronians. G.H.O.S.T. eventually becomes a strong secondary antagonist.

Eventually the Autobots and Decepticons team up to take down Mandroid/G.H.O.S.T. These last two points aren't actually mentioned in season 3 but in the interest of full context, here you go.

ok so lemme tell you i had the BIGGEST reading slump ever just as i started to read this. so this review may be a little choppy at some points because i've just pointblank forgotten some parts and don't wanna go back and re-read finny's pov just yet.

i was so on the fence about reading this because on one hand i really wanted to read finny's pov and on the other, complete and utter heartbreak.... yeah....... so anyway i read it.

when i tell you that this book had me ugly crying in the middle of the night. like seriously finny's pov?? fucking broke me. are you kidding me? the way he speaks about autumn? ugh when am i gonna find a guy like finny fr? but seriously this book had me on a rollercoaster of emotions just from the heartbreak knowing whats already gonna happen to finny as he describes how happy he is and how he can't believe autumn loves him back, to the smile i had on my face reading about 'the moms' bickering over baby stuff for autumn.

i will say this now i did expect a little more (hence the rating). i wanted idk more closure at the end there. idk rlly know how to describe it better since its 10 o'clock at night and ive had zero sleep for the past four nights in a row. but yeah i wanted something more. (bitch u wanted finny to be alive)

Reading the Iliad, Book 11 thoughts

This is my first time ever reading it and I know next to nothing abt greek mythology so if I interpret anything wrong by all means pls correct me

Im reading the Robert Fagles translation

Okay so the books called "Agamemnon's Day of Glory" so I thought the war was going to tip in favor of the Greeks again. It actually got worse tbh

Loads of people die

It's the next morning after the last book and Zeus tells the goddess of strife to encourage the Agrives to go fight

So everyone gets ready for battle but Zeus is definitely on the Trojans side today (again)

The gods don't interfere with this battle all at I think

Agamemnon goes on a mini killing spree and kills a bunch of ppl

Zeus doesn't like that all too much so he sends Iris down to tell Hector "Hey, hang back for right now but when Agamemnon gets wounded and retreats from the battlefield it's free real estate."

Agamemnon ends up getting his arm slashed and he goes "That hurts bad"

Homer compares this pain to the pain of giving birth... No, the fuck it is not, Homer

Character: *Gets hurt.*

Homer: "Its like when a Lion-" He compares wounded people to animals a lot in this one.

Agamemnon goes back to the Greek camps

Hector sees this and he just knows this is his moment

And he fucking takes it

So Odysseus grabs Diomedes and starts to kill people

Hector starts booking it toward them, Dio throws his spear which hits Hector's helmet but it just kinda bounces off (Apollo gave it to him)

Dio complains that if HE had the help of a god, Hector would be dead

Lmao so Paris is off in the distance somewhere and he takes a shot at Diomedes while he's striping some guys armor

Menelaus and Ajax(greater) hear this and rush over to help him

Odysseus ends up hurt as well so he too has to go back to the Greek camp

Ajax remains and kills a lot of the Trojans that were jumping Ody

Thennnnn Paris shoots Machaon (YK the healer of the Greek side)

Nestor and Idomeneus lose their shit and they're like "Get Machaon tf out of here NOW!"

TONS of important ppl have been injured by this point

Zeus stuns Ajax and so he falls back to protect their ships

A man named Eurpylus runs in to help Ajax.

Paris sees this and shoots him too😭 this time in the thigh

Jump to Achilles. He's watching shit go down from his boat and he's Nestor rushing back into camp with someone who looks like Machaon, and he says "lol finally they're going to beg for my help"

He calls for Patroclus and sends him to see if the person with Nestor is Machaon. (It is)

Nestor tries to sit Pat down for some win but he refuses

And here's where TOSA kinda fucked me up because I really thought that Pat came up with the idea to lead the Myrmidons into battle himself but it was actually Nestor who suggested the idea

On the way back to Achilles, Patroclus runs into Eurpylus (who is not in good shape)

Patroclus says "hmm idk I'm supposed to get back to Achilles." BRO?

But he ends up healing him anyway. The end

☆My first ever queer couple consisting of a butch bi ginger (Cassandra- though she prefers being called Casey- Russou) and a lesbian ex gymnast (CatherineHarris). Both are assassins (or spies? A weird mix of the two idk little me was cooking and the food was a mystery). Casey's a sniper who's tough as hell and will fight you in the alleyway, and Catherine is as elegant and charming as can be and you'll be quite seduced until poison gets slipped into your drink.

☆Twin brother (Alekai Snow) and sister (Chromespear Snow. I'm working on the name change, okay) from another planet. They're part of a species I called the Nocturi. Well, half Nocturi and half Solarian. Alekai's a doctor who was forcibly declawed and needs tech to help his fingers move bc it caused nerve damage, and Chromespear's a blacksmith, and she needed more development tbh but she was iconic

☆The boss of my two assassins who's just an incredibly superfluous, cartoony supervillain simply known as "The Director" (nobody knows his name and neither does he 💀) He's shipped with an irl friend's oc who's a mafia boss and they're both incredibly evil together

☆The powerful mage and general (Ephemeris Vikatte) who's got a whole *gestures* thing going on with Alekai. The two of them are basically just "enemies" (in a petty way) to friends to lovers. He's a bit of a dumbass tbh XD himbo energy

☆The guy who in retrospect is low-key a beta Silas. (Kurai Dusk) He's traumatised and tired but he loves his wifey to the ends of the earth. He's also the second in command to the Empress who I'm considering making a Queen instead because little Quinn did not understand what that title meant lmao

☆Another doctor guy (Assegai Copper) but he has anxiety and mommy issues and powerful magic and is trying his best. He's a small-town GP (like REALLY small-town. Like a village) and he accidentally saved an assassin named Crimson (unrelated to my other two assassins) who he has a situationship with now XD (I actually started writing a story for them when I was like... 12/13. Rewrite? 👀)

☆My beloved Empress/Queen (Achlys) who's the last of her species, and whose species in question I actually wanted to be a mimicry of the Nocturi. She has immensely powerful magic and control of shadows and the darkness (was known as "the Shadow Empress" Can you tell this was my edgy phase yet)

☆My mad scientist (Dr. Maddeline Kruger) who "killed" Catherine. Casey's been hunting Dr. Kruger down ever since, but she doesn't know Catherine is still alive. I'm probably gonna change this storyline there was a lot wrong in retrospect 💀

each of these episodes just reveal a little bit more about how loving and soft gwen is and idk i love her so unbelievably much so seeing that she felt guilt about the bonzo stuff just made her so much more real :(

18. Thoughts on mixed language dialogue?

I don't mind it when I encounter it, but prefer that the author includes a translation if it's not something that can be easily understood through context. I can't remember if I've done much of it, tbh.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Harry Potter. Experiencing the three year summer was very special at the time, and even though JKR's decision to become a terrible person has since soured the whole thing, I will remain grateful to the fans that made that time period in my life so unique.

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

Probably a toss up between Queen of the Seven Kingdoms and Sunrise. The former because I'm just so proud of beating that monster of a story into submission, and the latter because it was inspired by @emynithilien's wonderful story: To Play it With You and I really enjoyed playing in the AU she created.

What’s the origin of your username?: Idk, I was just dicking around trying to find a name for my new hyperfixation and was honestly SHOCKED that this url wasn't taken before— it felt like such an obvious reference to the books. I honest to god can't even remember what my username was before this, I know I had a different one, but like....I've always been covenofthearticulate LOL.

OTP(s) + ship name: Mostly just here for any ship involving Louis de Pointe du Lac lmao. Loustat, Loumand, Loumandstat...even the elusive Danlou (i think that's what the kids are using nowadays for daniel/louis??)

Favorite color: I go through phases of different colors all the time, but most of my clothes are autumnal shades of maroon and burgundy and olive green, which clashes horrendously with my neon hair LOL

I've written articles in all 5 shows at our theatre company this year but I think it would be cool to be like a creative director or something for the program

What were you like as a child?: Deeply emotional— the story my mom likes to tell everyone is that she once walked in on me crying in front of the tv while watching Peter Pan because I felt so terrible that Captain Hook had his hand chomped off by a crocodile LMAO for some reason I was always very empathetic to all the Disney villains. ANYWAY, here is where ortus 1...

wait, this is going to be confusing

I want to call ortus from the ninth "ortus 1" and the new guy "ortus 2"

because ninth ortus was the first to show up

but new ortus is actually older and also is ortus the first

we're gonna go with ortus and lyctor!ortus, for now

so, as I was saying, this is were ortus starts becoming much more insistent in these "flashbacks" about him not being the right choice

which, he's not wrong

we know he's not wrong

and harrow is saying stuff like "unless you can summon matthias nonius" (matthias nonius is becoming a recurrent thing, let's remember harrow compared gideon to him at one point)

and ortus goes "I don't understand why you chose me" to which harrow says "there was nobody else" and ortus exasperatedly says "you never did posses an imagination"

VERY IMPORTANT THING

a skeleton turns around when they're walking and says "is this how it happens?"

so, we are introduced to the famous augustine who's name I will remember

there's some conversation about first and second generations and about not!dulcinea being chosen, and Emperor Johnny Bravo says "we were all there to meet her, all sixteen of us"

I guess she was the last one of these, but maybe we knew that already, I feel we knew that already

apparently, not!dulcinea was the most reluctant to slurp her cavalier, but that didn't stop any of them, not even her, so

Emperor Johnny Quest says "for god's sake" and harrow thinks "the god who became a man and yet still invoked himself, apparently"

I have to respect augustine a little bit because he asked "which one of the kiddies did her in?" and I thought that was hilarious

he is called the saint of patience, which makes my previous comment about them being named via sarcasm very correct

they start summoning lyctor!ortus by saying that he's interested in "you-know-what", which is both suspicious and childish and the vibes of these lyctors are all over the place

augustine thinks something's wrong, which is an understatement at this point, but ok

lyctor!ortus comes in as if summoned by the gossip and harrow calls him "the next terrible part of your life" which is saying something

lyctor!ortus comes with news of the seventh beast or whatnot that's trailing them

harrow bleeds from her ears and smashes her head on the next available surface to pass out

this lyctor job is terrible

it's like the end of drop dead gorgeous and harrow is kristen dunst

we are back to the "flashbacks" and we've got a special appearance from the fifth

they say they prefer to look into books than going downstairs, which is something one would consider if one had known what the fuck was downstairs from the start

abigail finds a piece of a recipe note that mentions an M and a Nigella

I remember nigella's name because of the cook, which makes it funnier that it's a recipe

abigail also gives harrow a note

abigail says that she'd like to summon the ghost of a lyctor but she's not sure how that could work or where they go when they die

ortus, magnus and abigail, in this gideonless version, are a polycule

while they're talking, magnus says "is this really how it happens?"

so, are these "flashbacks" happening in real time whenever harrow isn't conscious?

is it her trying to remember what actually happened?

or is it her trying to hide it?

was there actually a longer period of time between the defeat of not!dulcinea and the emperor Jon Arbuckle coming to pick them up?

a period of time in which harrow learned things that made her write those letters?

and in which something happened regarding gideon?

is the note of the implantation also related?

why was gideon born in space?

of course I'm not asking you, please don't spoil anything, I'm just asking the void of desperation and chaos right now
