Especially, if you dig a little harder and read stuff from other Screaming Eagles like memories of Donald R. Burgett from A Company (I think) and George Koskimaki's antology of memories of people from whole division, Speirs shooting POWs seems to be nothing unusual and a lot of worse things has happened (as sad at it is). Bill was not a saint and did similar stuff and absolutely no one is bitching about him. What I want to say is, Winters saying he would have put Speirs on court martial - when I read it I was like, Dick? Seriously?. No one would have shot prisoners if there was no order and Speirs, imo, acted rather according to the rules not against them.

It just shows how communicating orders SUCKED in American army that time.

You know... looking at Sparky's popularity and the amount of time he was on screen and comparing it to Winters.... it shows that people prefer ambiguous characters? As much as I love Winters he is not my top five, because he is simply too GOOD. I think I like his fandom version a lot more than his show/book version, because people dig out his flaws and made him more human. That's why I immediately liked Nix more, then Harry and Sparky. Dick just suffers from, dunno, being the perfect main, I guess.

And well, Sparky in the show is a perfect example of an amazing character's journey, it's something people LOVE. We agreed already that you can love him or hate him, but you can't have no feelings and opinions about him. While Dick is, I think?, generally loved and you hardly can find anything negative or even neutral about him.

...Speirs could steal even spotlight, huh?

Even the first layer of stories, there are a lot of admissions later on of things that were seen and done. War is hell, it happens. I agree it's interesting that Speirs becomes THE poster boy for it though. It's interesting when we have someone like Lieb who Dick was like 'He was rough with prisoners' but then he still sends him with the prisoners! Ambrose makes a point of saying "Winters and Lipton both said Speirs was the cruelest man they ever met" but nobody expands on that. Idk if its because admitting they saw and didn't stop implicates them or what.

I think what gets overlooked is it's little over 20 years from the last world war and a lot of these guys had relatives lost to that. A lot of these guys were kids of immigrants and were Leary of letting people know they spoke German more or less were German. (Muck spoke it but never told anyone and let people believe he was another nationality.) Malarkey repeatedly mentions Uncles who were still dealing with being gassed in WW1 and suffering because of it. It breeds a 'We wouldn't be here if we got rid of you last time' mentality. But I think that's just me applying some ghetto logic, someone comes at you who you know is going to make you keep watching your back for retaliation...you make sure they don't get back up.

Speirs has the draw of being the enigma and backs it up with bonafide bad-assery and hero of Foy. I don't think Lip's POV was overplayed, I think that Breaking Point ep was spot on with how they all felt they were going to get slaughtered following Dike's orders and out comes Speirs and just bing-bang-boom Let's go.

Dick is very squeaky clean in the show and I think that's great for the show.....but it really does crack you in the face when you get into his letters and stuff and you're confronted with him being more human than the show allowed. I love the show, I really do. I love that we have a book, a series, more books and letters and more letters and interviews and we're still finding stuff. It does kinda make him too much of a Boy Scout for personal tastes though, I get you.

I'm enjoying the search, a lot. It's adding a bunch of dimension to already intriguing people. I'd like to get my hands on the Craver appeal that probably explains WHY he was let out of prison 20 years after the war.

👻 What is your wildest headcanon?

I think "Hawkeye is red-green colorblind" is up there lol. Also for The West Wing, "Toby was covering for someone when he confessed to the leak and the someone was Jed Bartlet" which might become a fic someday if I ever have the time to write it. It's not quite canon compliant but it's fun. There's also the timeless "Donald Penobscott was gay" and "Hawkeye sucked Scully's dick behind Rosie's before everyone else showed up in A Night at Rosie's." idk I probably have other ones that are better but those come to mind.

7.  What’s the best thing about the canon you are writing?

There's a perfect statement in the DuckTales artbook that one of the creators makes that I think summarizes it.

"The gold standard of humanizing Disney's classic main 5 characters was A Goofy Movie... he (Bill Farmer) made the silliest character of the main five the most compassionate, relatable, and heartwarming dad character and that's incredible. We wanted to do that for Donald Duck." - Frank Angones (referring to Tony Anselmo's performance)

It is so SO easy in most Disney media to take everything about Donald at face value. To be fair, his creation was meant to be the exact polar opposite of Mickey Mouse. They're foils/rivals and it shows in just about everything they're in together. Where Mickey is calm and friendly, Donald is not. Generally, they tend to be Selfless and Selfish respectively, though I think that's less true nowadays.

But that's what makes Donald so much more relatable. Donald has very prominent flaws and in a lot of his shorts, his comedic stunts could actually happen to just about anyone. He's someone you laugh with because you know what it feels like. There's a very good reason why Donald was the mascot of the WWII shorts. Heck, even the 3 Cabellero's is a perfect example of Donald's ability to reach people. You don't have to understand him to know his struggle.

tldr; The best thing about Donald is canon is that they brought him down to earth with a new and interesting perspective and provide context/explanation to flaws some might take at face value. He's a highly emotional individual and this show doesn't villainize that and provides examples of healthy coping mechanisms.

(Also sorry, how cool is it that he actually went to therapy for his anger issues??? LIKE how often do we really see that??? and it's for Donald of all characters!! My stubborn little baby boi is so good)

8. What’s the worst thing about the canon you are writing?

You know, I think the worst thing is specifically that Disney is big dumb about their main 5 characters not straying too far away from their images.

The only reason that Donald isn't the main character of the Ducktales series IS because of Disney. Despite the fact the show could tackle some really interesting things with him based on their setup, they... can't do it as much. There are things they do in the comics that my heart go brrr, but Donald I guess can't be a main character of a tv show like this with more mature themes or smth idk LOL

Tying into that is how the show writes Della. I really REALLY wish they could have gotten some proper closure about everything that happened, and that we could have watched Dellla earn back her family's trust over a longer period of time. I don't how people are so quick to forgive the fact that she chooses to leave her family behind for her own thrill of adventure. No matter what excuse she has, she still left them. (maybe I just have abandonment issues though LOL)

ALSO Donald... almost constantly remains the butt of nearly every single joke. So even with all of the mature themes they give Donald, a lot of it gets undercut or made even worse because 'haha Donald get hurt = funny.' and yes, when Donald does it to himself, it's usually funny and there's nothing wrong with that. But like, ok.

There's a scene in the comics where Della Donald and Scrooge in the past found an artifact that when opened created a deafening silence. To test the theory, Della opens the idol while scrooge plows his cane into Donald's foot causing him to scream which isn't heard because of the idol.

Stuff like that and like, I get it I do. But there's a very very good reason why I write my Donald as insecure about his familial relationships in general. I've also been inspired by several posts I've seen in the community that talk about this further, and gosh dang it I wish Disney didn't force them to end it at 3 seasons... coming back around to: the worst thing about the canon is just Disney LOL

15. What are your thoughts on the canon ships for the character, if any?

I am here for Donsy literally any day of the week, but specifically only for Ducktales 2017. In franchise canon in general, Daisy is extremely toxic for Donald usually, as she constantly crosses his boundaries and is extremely unapologetic about it (she's also just a brat IMO).

In DT however, they do her SO much justice. Her core of loving fashion is still there, but she is just a woman who's following her passion and working hard for it. Unfortunately, that drive put her in a toxic situation with her employer where she's been put down.

Donald and Daisy compliment and contrast each other in a very interesting way. Donald has effectively had to do very similar things for his family's approval. They're able to understand the constant struggle of sacrificing the things you want or enjoy for the sake of approval. Both of them seek approval for their efforts, and at least in Daisy's case to advance her career.

I really REALLY wish we saw more of those two in the show. It's implied that they spent a lot of time together, and it's just so sweet that Daisy can QUITE LITERALLY understand him perfectly. I think he's very respectful and supportive of her career too. I imagine he'd be more of a stay-at-home dad, or if he didn't finish college, he could do that as well while working on a ship again.

THERE ABSOLUTELY NEEDED TO BE AN AUNT DAISY EPISODE THOUGH!! Like the triplets have their mom back, sure. But Donald is THEIR DAD, and now their dad is dating someone else who they don't know?? It would've been such a great GREAT opportunity to explore a unique side of family dynamics that don't get touched upon in a healthy way. Daisy would be such a good (actual) mother figure to the boys and could get along with them easily.

Like, yeah okay Scrooge is a more main character and I guess they wanted to show him more with Goldie... but Donsy (also the ship name is dumb I'm sorry but that's what I see used)

I wish Daisy appearing didn't sideline Donald further away from his family. Like, I'm super happy that he's able to go on a trip with her in the end. But I think Donald needed more closure with his family AND SPECIFICALLY, HIS GOSH DARN TWIN SISTER before it would make sense for him to move on with his life.

In general, though, I'm really REALLY glad that Donald is given a chance to have a proper love life. I think he deserves a healthy relationship outside of his family, and they both are really great for each other. I have my gripes, but they have very little to do with Donald and Daisy and more with how the show treats him in general.

I hope this okay to ask feel free to ignore if not but how do you manage to cope with people saying such inflammatory stuff about matty constantly? You seem very adjusted to it, I am usually alright at ignoring it and I know its not true but sometimes I see things people say and I feel a bit sick because that's what people think and what if they think I support that and idk. I get scared there might be truth in it sometimes even though I don't think that and it gets difficult to cope with. I really strongly believe in having nuance in a situation, being critical of the people you enjoy instead of blindly praising them and not putting people on pedestals, which is why I still engage with matty because to me he is a guy who says and does stupid things occasionally like most people realistically do. But people see it so black and white and you're either a good person or you're not and I hate that and it gets to me sometimes.

For me, it's a mixture of different things. The first being that I've tested my own beliefs and so I'm more sure of them than ever. That's part of what I love about being a fan of Matty. He's constantly challenging me. Whenever he does or says something that I personally wouldn't do, I stop and ask myself why. I had a similar moment of doubt to what you're describing when the podcast shitshow happened. Cuz I wasn't entirely disgusted by it. Did I think that some jokes were tone-deaf? Yeah. But I didn't feel AS offended as everyone who was saying they no longer support the band, or their opinion of him has changed forever, or that hes not the same guy who wrote "loving someone" or "love it if we made it" or "jc2005gba" or "people," and hes showing his true colors or whatever. So, I was like "broooo am I the problem? am I blind? is his sexiness making me think that he could do no wrong and its to the detriment of my moral character? so I went back and listened to the podcast THREE FUCKIN TIMES. After some thinking, I felt like okay some jokes really shouldn't have been made, period. Like he fucked up at a handful of moments, BUT the VAST MAJORITY of the reactions were to things taken out of context and were exaggerations of how one SHOULD react. fucking up doesn't mean he's secretly evil and it doesn't cancel out all the good that he's done.

So, I walked away from the whole situation even firmer in my beliefs about what is appropriate and what's not, what I personally stand for as a human, and what I believe about Matty's character. Which is why, when I see that shit that people are saying now, I'm like "they're a bunch of morons." cuz I thought about it and know what's what. I think they did as well maybe they wouldn't be saying half the shit that they are saying. This series is part of a series of projects from Disney Publishing Worldwide (DPW) to make their own comics aimed at a younger audience. I think they were kind of an experiment to test the waters if they could even produce commercially successful enough Duck and Mouse comics consistently, because Spy Power, together with Young Donald Duck and Spookyzone, were some of the first consistently made comic series from DPW not focused on movie characters or WITCH or anything else. They all just kinda sprouted out of the ground together some day out of the offices of DPW’s Italian branch.

I suspect they might at some point have been planned to be published in their entirety in the USA, considering the story page lengths being for typical American comic books. Sadly enough the truth is that Disney comics haven’t been doing well there for decades, and these didn’t break that curse. Instead, these stories got bought by the European publishers who usually make the Duck and Mouse comics. Like Panini, Egmont, DPG, Culturama and Unique Heritage. They’re usually put in separate collections for younger readers though, with many DPW projects just kinda scrambled together into a single series.

It seems the series technically debuted in the Netherlands, but that’s more a random thingy where they just happened to be the first to decide to release the series that way. Egmont and Unique Heritage followed with their publications not long after.

Here is a link to this series specifically in the Inducks database. Currently i think it’s only missing the American publication because there is pretty much no indexer who lives there lol. I’ve been asking people for ages to index the thing but no one knows what it is. Like i think it was in some kinda dollar comic tree whatever the name was. I’m not even sure most people know it exists lol.

I think all DPW projects are originally scripted in English. At least I know for sure this series is. So they shouldn’t have to do any translation work. Maybe unsimplify some dialogue at max.

All stories are made by either people working at DPW or for the Italian publisher of Disney Comics. Even if it’s technically being produced by American Disney.

Giada Perissinotto (the artist of the ENTIRE series) is one of the greatest ever and her art is so good omg

Unlike Young Donald Duck and Spookyzone, this series sadly enough seems to be cancelled. Or is at least not currently a project DPW seems interested in continuing. The 24th and last story’s first publication was on April 2022.

I am very confused about the lack of information online about Minnie & Daisy: Spy Power. There seems to be documentation of twelve issues going back to 2022, but only issue #1 seems to be available to purchase in the United States and, even then, only through eBay. It seems like a boutique Atlanta-based toy firm has the license for distribution here, but my best guess is that it debuted in another country. Does anyone out there know?

Okay so I love IPKKND and have loved Barun for a long time, though his social media absence makes it difficult to really “know” him. I think that watching him and Sanaya on Zoom has made me start disliking them a bit, and that might translate into my obsession with IPKKND which has been an annual rewatch for me for the past 10 years. Yet, they seem to know so little about the love people have for that show and their very own characters. It made me sad that Barun thought his “what the” line was strange, that actually makes the show so funny, because many times it’s what our reaction is too to what is happening, and he has said many strange things on IPKKND lol,they just went with whatever they remembered. Also, the number one reason I don’t watch Indian actors being interviewed is because I think the Indian mindset is still pretty backward. Case in point, Sanaya being praise for how “fair” she is. Or complaining about being called a monkey for it, I understand her but at the same time… it’s like girl you are stunning, you are quite literally the norm of what is considered beautiful in India whereas we still have shows that show the difficult lives of horrible looking dark skinned girls because apparently dark skin translates to ugliness. I also find the who “I was very old when I had my first time” and saying 22 and it being a thing weird. Since when is 22 considered old especially in the Indian society????! Bruh I am virgin asf and I am 23 and i don’t think it’s old. Lol. Idk the interview was entertaining ish but seemed problematic. And Sanaya not answering why she’d wanna punch Donald Trump… it seems like she just said a name for the sake of it. And saying that drinking cow piss is like the baptisms..? I respect all religions but what? Also what is a fake vegan? Do you care about the rabbits or not? They talk about not caring for validation throughout the interview but feels like they thought through every single answer. However many it needs to tell its full story I suppose, though honestly if KH was a show I'd kinda want it to be... idk more slice of life, strangely enough? Like I would fucking hella watch a whole show of nothng but Sora, Donald, and Goofy just going to various Disney worlds and interacting with the characters there. I'd enjoy that probably even more than if the show tried to just retell KH's bullshit story lol

Okay I’m going to attempt at joining the discussion lol. I think that it is important to note the distinction between the use of “non-nuclear families” and “found families,” because you are right! “Found family” does get tossed around a lot. There is a reason though why I feel that the found family trope is still prevalent in Ducktales. When looking at the main Duck/ McDuck family, it’s obvious how they subvert the standard nuclear family. However, in that same main blood family circle, Scrooge and co. consider a lot of characters as family. Webby, Beakley, and Launchpad are just some of the instant examples I think of. Even though Beakley and LP are employees, they are seen as part of the family and are present in family affairs and family photographs (I mean even Gyro shows up in the family photo in Glomtales! lol). Then there’s the whole Lena situation. Before Lena ever became “Lena Sabrewing,” she didn’t have anyone except her aunt. So if you watch Season 1 on it’s own, there is definitely a strong found family theme from her character arc. She actively goes against her “blood” (shadow? magic?) relative and finds comfort, along with a real sense of what a family is, with the Ducks/ McDucks and Beakley & Webby.

Then as you continue, you find moments and interactions of found family such as with Darkwing, Gosalyn, and LP. Darkwing does not end up adopting Gosalyn canonically in the series. And Launchpad (I believe, have not rewatched in a while) is excited to call them his own family and jumps at the opportunity to be the “Uncle Launchpad.”

It just seems really easy to mix up the two because they are used so frequently together in the show. And, let’s face it, there’s a ton of adoption going on, whether it’s blood related or not, and whether it’s shown officially or not. Lena is adopted by the Sabrewings. Boyd is adopted by the Drakes. Scrooge raises his sister’s children (mostly implied but still valid imo). Donald raises his sister’s children. Donald takes in Scrooge clones. And so on.

And then there’s the wholeee Webby thing which I don’t feel like getting into right now. But she is important because she’s another one of the primary reasons why Ducktales seems to be known for their “found family.” She’s the housekeeper’s granddaughter, yet she is seen as a sister/cousin/family member to the Ducks/McDucks. She is accepted and encouraged to call Scrooge “Uncle,” just like the triplets do.

So idk. I think it’s fair to say Ducktales is not just about “found family” but also more about “non-traditional non-nuclear” families. It still has a ton of found family tho. Idkkkk I just went crazy and typed all of this. I’m going to lie down.

People are perhaps too attached to the found family trope in fandom. I keep remembering this one person who described DuckTales as having a "found family central theme" as if eighty percent of the main cast were not blood relatives.

7 & 8 answered here but I have many good and bad things I love about the canon that I could talk for ages about LOL

1.  What made you pick up this character?

I'd say that there are very few canon characters that ping-pong in my head quite like Donald Duck. Generally speaking, I'm someone who tended to make/write for O.Cs for no other reason than it never occurred to me that I could do neat things with the canons too.

Honestly, this is like, the first proper canon character that I have written this long for. I was in the Sugar Rush/WIR fandom for a while and sometimes wrote stuff, but my primary fandom experience is drawing for the most part and even then I wrote my O.Cs.

I'm glad I started with Gyess still just to get used to how Tumblr works, but she can be a little limited in the types of interactions she can have (vaguely. She's mostly just, not emotionally mature to do stuff that I love writing about) I actually did almost start with Donald, but I was intimidated by writing for canon (and I needed time to finish watching the show LOL)

I just think Donald is real neat, and I just want to provide myself some justice for how the show treats him at times. I also like that he can swing from emotional depth to absolutely chaotic so I never really get bored writing him if that makes sense.

2.  How did you get into this franchise/fandom?

No seriously though, before the show came out Donald Duck was still my favorite Disney character. I'm a bit of a Disney nerd when it comes to this sort of thing. He's just been a long-standing interest of mine. Something about him just clicked with me when I was younger, and my obsession has only gotten worse LOL

When the remake was announced, I feel like I was excited, though I've never watched the original DuckTales show. I should really check it out though lol I just don't know if I ever thought too deeply about it?? I was just like "Oh cool! New animated show! I love those"

I would say I wasn't ever in the fandom of DuckTales. I don't have much history of like, being involved in fandom. Interacting with people online, talking about a show or characters. I don't even know if I really made fan art for this show actually.

I just know I got invested in it pretty quickly, at least Donald's side of it (I lowkey, mostly just watched the show for Donald LOL) and saw posts about it on my pintrest boards from tumblr occasionally.

IDK I'm super weird about this stuff, but at least now that I'm older and more into writing as a hobby and such, I have more awareness about this type of stuff like character development, voices, portrayals etc. But I don't have a grandiose story or anything ^^ legit, I just love these ducks.

12 What would you say is the most unique trait about your character?

That is an excellent question LOL I mean, if we're comparing him to like other characters in animation then I'd say there's quite a lot in the realm of the obvious.

Besides being a duck, he talks funny, has a short fuse, is a sailor man, and is ridiculously unlucky. All four of those traits definitely exist in other characters, but I don't know if I've ever seen another character who has all of these, plus a very kind and gentle side.

I think though, what makes Donald specifically in DuckTales a unique character in all media is that he's an adult father figure who bettered himself. I've talked about it a little bit already, but I think just the fact he went to therapy at all in the show is absolutely the most unique thing about him AND for just Donald media in general.

Dad characters in most media get shafted to be the stupid ones who like love their family but generally, cause problems and then don't really do anything or change. (Homer and Peter are the ones I'm thinking of, but I know there are others)

Of course, Donald is in a unique position of not only becoming a father at 25 but specifically a father of three kids that aren't even his while also simultaneously grieving the sister he lost WHO'S KIDS HE HAS TO RAISE!!!!!

But Donalds a dad who has sacrificed so much for the kids recognized his flaws and went to better himself because of his love for his family. He could have easily been written to be a goofball dad who doesn't really care or is so bitter about his sister and the burden of raising kids that he gets worse as a person... BUT THEY DIDN'T DO THAT!!

Anyways yeah. If there's anything I desperately wanted from the show, is just an Episode of Donald finding his moment where he broke down from the weight of everything that was dumped onto him, and then rising above it for himself and the kids especially. It's so sad that it's implied off-screen, but hey I'll take that over what they could have done LOL

so, like, uh... am I the only one who didn’t like the twist that Webby was April + a clone + Scrooge’s clone? like,,, I find it so dumb (it was good in execution!! it’s just,,, it doesn’t sit right with me) the whole thing regarding Webby messed with my experience,, and,,, wasn’t this supposed to be, like, Huey’s season? I get getting canceled and all that but... idk I didn’t leave this finale feeling the way I know I should’ve. The way I feel about it is unclear and I’m not sure what to think of it. My excitement into this was the same for the Gravity Falls ending- one I was absolutely hyped for and left feeling happy and completed. This just kind of... fell flat. And maybe that was because I put too high of expectations? The trailers really got me hyped (Webby tearfully hugging Beakley and Huey running into Dewey and Louie’s arms) and the actual scenes just... weren’t it. Webby being the one to find the paper? I didn’t really like that either. Scrooge said the rightful heir (I’m pretty sure anyway I literally watched this episodes hours ago) and to me, Webby just isn’t that (also Webby calling Scrooge dad really put me off). The show is about family. It also shows found family. Webby and Beakley were found family. They were honorary members. This finale kind of throws that away; “she was related to Scrooge the whole time!” I saw a post saying that April could’ve been her own character; locked in one of those cells and being a failed experiment. That could’ve worked! I honestly would’ve liked that more. That aside though, the action scenes were amazing! Launchpad getting the gizmo suit was top tier and the twist the Manny was a gargoyle was great. ALSO!! Bradford turning out to be the one who told Della about the spear? And then cutting the funding for it?? In this fandom, we hate one (1) character and his name is Bradford Buzzard. Della and Donald having that fight and stuff because Donald wants to leave was great too. I wish we saw more of their interactions. Lowkey also wished we got more triplets. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad we got backstory on Webby but I still feel like we didn’t get enough Huey. I will say, I was expecting/hoping for something like Louie and Dewey got kidnapped/sucked into the machine from Let’s Get Dangerous! (the scene where Huey walks into a destroyed room looking kind of dejected) and eventually reunites with them (running into their arms, tearful). It could’ve put a bit more growth in Huey’s character since he loves being a triplet and as the eldest, prides himself on taking care of his brothers. With them gone (possibly forever), he has to adapt and stay as calm as he can. The B plot would revolve around Webby, May, and June (that way you could get both characters some closure and a story that tests their wits). Anyway those were my thoughts about the finale,, I might write something where I rewrite the finale,,, idk maybe I’m just an over dramatic crybaby lol edit: I’m totally gonna write that KSKSJKSKS

notes of a kh au of both evil plans successfully getting a sora puppet!!

some context, this is a canon divergence idea inspired by this thing I drew a while ago.

ok im absolutely thriving with this fic idea but first, there was a painful hurdle in thinking about how to rework the Chain of Memories plot for Naminé to go along with Marluxia’s plan completely, and that naturally would change a lot of things. Especially regarding Riku’s story plus Axel’s role and a bunch of other characters. It’s actually so intimidating with all these characters and their conspiracies clashing with each other, scooping all that up to transform that into a (hopefully) coherent sequence of events;; in comparison, Days was pretty simple to deal with the change. 

Anyway what I have so far is this:

Roughly decided that Marluxia, Namine, Sora, and Xion are the main characters. Riku and Roxas are in comatose states but still influence the story. Xemnas is the main antagonist naturally. Aqua and Ven become key players towards the end. Saix, Axel, Zexion, and Xigbar are also important. Larxene will be a surprise element. Mickey, Donald, Goofy, and DiZ are there for the most part too.

The original event that pushed Naminé to tell Sora the whole truth was Axel letting her go meet Sora. So for this plot divergence to work, someone has to intervene here. I mulled it over and decided Larxene should be the one to to do it, resulting in her attacking Axel. They argue in the midst of the fray on who’s the real “traitor.” Sora arrives and defeats them both. Larxene learns of Saix’s plot before she fades. Axel then tells Sora to trust his instincts and to fight off Marluxia’s schemes, before cryptically telling him to not forget their appointment on the clocktower for ice cream. Axel then “fades” away.

Namine becomes more convinced with going through the deception (though not completely) due to interacting with the Angelic looking Specter. She encounters this figure and is given some revelation into some of Marluxia’s motives. i’ll have to think a lot about Namine and how her desire to end her loneliness comes into conflict with her integrity, in addition to how she is manipulated. She consistently guides so many characters through the series with her insight, so that’s a trait i want her to grow into. I think she’ll be the one pulling the strings in the end..

One of the biggest changes is Riku’s reverse/rebirth story. Originally, Riku doesn’t fall into Zexion’s trap due to Namine’s influence and advice dealing with darkness. However, in this AU, Naminé is going ahead with tricking Sora, being absent for Riku. So Riku would lose to Zexion, who’s desperate to use him as a counter to Marluxia’s command of Sora. Though it won’t work out for Zexion in the end because Ansem would finally be able to possess Riku fully...

Which has got me thinking there would be a clash between Ansem and Marluxia in the castle. I think it would be interesting for two of these characters who have a guardian behind them to fight!? Somehow Marluxia wins, adding to his arrogance when it comes to Xemnas.

DiZ is now stumbling over what to do and the mouse would get sad at these turn of events; both heroes of the keyblade now compromised...which leads to Mickey thinking, wait there’s someone in the realm of darkness!!! this is now a secret mickey redemption story

That will lead to Aqua returning to Castle Oblivion to do pest control and finds Axel and Zexion scrambling about trying to find the Chamber of Waking. She promptly decides that Ven is no longer safe there and gets him out. She finds Riku replica and recruits him (might change this detail, forgot to say that Marluxia told Naminé to power him down prior. Aqua finding a replica could be interesting, lest Axel or Zexion gets to him first,,)

Also forgot to mention that Riku is now the one placed in the pod for him to sleep and not turn back into Ansem. (role reversal with sora woo!!)

Sora goes happily along with Naminé but despite all the memory rearranging is still wary of Marluxia in charge (thanks Axel). Something that’s interesting in CoM was how Marluxia told Naminé to destroy Sora’s heart, finding this last resort a shame and rather having preferred him unmarred. So this AU is just that, the plan with Sora’s uninjured heart (but perhaps...breaking his heart could be point reached...in regards to Ven’s heart hidden in there..)

Mar’s character is actually one of the harder things to address. So I need to think more but I want this story to touch upon his hidden memories as so many things will remind him of the old plight of losing a loved one. Mainly observing the interactions between Naminé and Sora, Aqua and Ven, and maybe Xion??? I want Saix’s search for Subject X aka Skuld to be relevant to this too. there’s!!! so!!! many!! examples!?!?!

As he remembers more, the specter haunting him becomes more smaller and human-like. The specter will talk to Namine more for the most part. This will influence Naminé to turn the tables against Marluxia; so you could say she will manipulate and influence him with her memory powers along with her insight.

Will he gain a sibling-esque affection for Sora and Naminé? Yes. Vaguely... I think Sora’s going to lose against Xion... so Marluxia’s going to have to take up the protective role much to his displeasure. Being around Sora’s and Namine’s hearts for an extended amount of time will be a factor in his memory returning and regaining a heart.

Much of his story is taking control back of his destiny vs finding what his true purpose is and what method he choses. I feel like his time as a union leader could contribute to him feeling qualified taking over the organization. Plus him having a strong feeling that Xemnas’s plan is b.s. which is of course, spot on. Does Marluxia become a good guy in the end? im not sure yet, but I want to say no for the most part. (oh the appeal of tragic villain protagonists) who’s to say he wouldn’t sacrifice or destroy anything to recover what he’s lost?

in regards to Xion, I think she’ll be the one in most pain oh boy. Roxas was asleep through the Castle Oblivion events and Xion left seashells at his bedside during that time. The discarded Sora memories, as a result of Naminé’s interference, will pour directly into her mostly.  Xemnas sees this plan working and once Roxas wakes, forces him and Xion to clash resulting in Xion successfully absorbing Roxas and becoming the perfect sora puppet. sorta 

Xion is at this point, still in confusion on who she is. Everything in her tells her she’s Sora, but the dearest memories of her own life so far is of Roxas taking her up on the clocktower for ice cream, and she holds on to that. Xion also has the discarded C.O. memories including Axel’s last remarks to Sora. I want Xion and Repliku to meet in this story.

Xemnas discovering comatose Ven will be a main thing eventually. Which led me to this image of Xion!Sora thinking Ven is Roxas ;-;

Up to this point, I still need to address how real Sora and Xion!Sora clash. It’ll probably be in the throne room, not unlike what happens at the climax in ddd. the moment I’m most excited for is Marluxia’s humiliation at these turn of events LOL that’s why i drew that joke comic for the most part! someone commented on the post with ‘GET OFF THE STAGE MARLUXIA’ and i was GONE LMAO

there’s more stuff (from my 10 pages of notes i made yesterday. it’s a small square sketchbook so it’s probably more like 5 pages) but i think this summarizes the majority of my ideas. Idk if I’ll get this off the ground promptly since the scope is so big 😵 but it’s a start!

Can you tell us more about your author au, back in action au, and Notre duck au? Sorry if I'm asking for a lot but I just saw them on your AU list and they caught my interest 😅

Haha sure! I haven’t worked on any of them in a while but here we go! It’s a bit long, especially the Back in Action section....

In the Author AU, Donald is an author who works under a pseudonym, so that he and the triplets can have some normalcy in life while also being able to support them comfortably. He’s the author of a best selling series, which is the Paperinik series (maybe in this AU it’ll be called Duck Avenger, idk). 

He began writing the PK stories during highschool, and they were published as shorts regularly in a small magazine. Of course, being a teenager, it began as a fantasy- it was how he vented his frustrations. Gladstone, of course, figured it out, as did Della, but Scrooge had no interest so no one else outside of Donald’s closest circle (that is to say, Mickey, Minnie, Daisy and Goofy) knew. It soon grew to be a hero story, rather than a story about vengeance. At this point there are no nephews in the story.

After highschool, his story got picked up by a publishing company and Uno was his agent. He ended up including the character ONE based off of Uno, which Uno is equal parts amused and exasperated by (”Honestly, I thought you said you wanted to be anonymous.”). The two don’t officially become friends, however, until a couple of years later, when Della went missing. Donald had taken a surprisingly dark turn in the story which would have resulted in killing off the main characters, at which point Uno decided to intervene and talk to him. With Uno’s support and growing friendship Donald rewrote the story, keeping the darker tone but ending it on a higher note with all the characters alive and happy.

Donald also gave PK a family of his own, having him be a single father to three children (hinted heavily at them being adopted, after PK saved them as eggs), a decision which forever changed the direction of the books from being about a duck who fights because it’s all he’s good for, to being about a duck who fights because he has something worth fighting for. He and Uno obviously become very close over this time.

Gladstone reads every book that comes out. He always wins a free edition but insists on buying it, as his way of helping Donald out. He uses the tone of each book and the events that happen in them to determine whether or not he needs to come and kick a little sense into Donald.

Donald ultimately concludes the book series after Della comes back, with the story having a happy ending all around. Which definitely includes ONE getting a physical body and joining the family. Unsurprisingly he and Uno get married. Scrooge and the kids find out he’s the author of PK after Scrooge announces his studio bought the movie rights to the film lol. Della and Gladstone are just like “wow seriously, you guys didn’t see the writing clear on the wall?”

The Back in Action AU is basically, PK was a TV show and Donald was the titular character, PK. His co-star was Uno, who lent his voice and face to the character ONE (the names of all the characters in PK are changed, ofc, their real names are the actors’ names now, except for Uno and Xadhoom). The entire cast (yes, including Angus Fangus) were a pretty tight-knit family, of a sort. So while Della and Scrooge were adventuring (as he had left the adventure life behind, feeling as if he wasn’t contributing or seen as an equal among the group) he became part of a family of his own. Daisy also played PK’s love interest, though the two of them are actually more like Best Pals. They went to highschool together so. Daisy wasn’t in the main cast and was just a recurring character, as she had a main role in another series.

The triplets in PK were just babies, but PK wasn’t their primary caretaker. They were more like background characters, but occasionally PK would get roped into babysitting them and having to balance watching the children and saving the world because “oh god even if I stop the Evronian invasion if any of their feathers get singed my sister will kill me!” (Note, PK’s sister was only seen in photos and was a blonde, like in the original comics. You can hear her voice now and then though)

Donald was close with everyone (oh the bloopers he and Angus had.... and of course the Evronians, something ALWAYS went wrong with their costumes!) but Uno became his best friend (and his almost-more). The series was the most popular thing on TV for a while, and Gladstone and Fethry were so proud of their brother cousin and so sad that Scrooge and Della were missing the best moments of his life. Gladstone and Fethry are much more involved in Donald’s life than Della and Scrooge are in this AU. That isn’t to say they don’t all love each other very much, it’s just Della and Scrooge’s interests laid elsewhere.

Anyway, every series hits its end, and more often than not it comes much faster than planned. PK ended a whole season sooner than expected, due to the sudden buyout of their studio and the new owners choosing to shut PK down in favour of one of their own shows (couldn’t afford both at the same time, and their own show had a smaller budget). So the series ended on the cliffhanger of PK losing ONE and (Lyla’s character), the Evronians being defeated and PK choosing to hang up his cape because of just how much that final battle cost him. It was an ending that angered many people, extremely upsetting especially knowing that it hadn’t been the planned ending of the series.

The entire cast and crew split up, most still staying in acting but a few leaving. Donald went back to adventuring with Scrooge and Della while Uno went back to Italy with his brothers (Due and Tre, the former of which played a major part in 2-3 episodes) to work in their father’s lab. They ended up falling out of contact (not by their own choice, just due to the nature of their jobs). Then a few years later Della went missing and Donald was left caring for her three children- it was a bit ironic, perhaps.

In the 10-12 years Donald was taking care of them, a “sequel” movie and a spinoff came to be with different actors and stories, but neither were well received because they lacked the “spirit” and charm of the original series. Especially the spinoff, which was animated in a very Saturday-morning style.

The triplets don’t really know about the OG PK, only knowing it by the spinoff, or that their uncle used to be a big name actor. However, 10 or so years later it’s announced that PK is coming back.... with the original writers and actors (except for the kids). Including Donald Fauntleroy Duck, the actor who played the titular PK. They are shook.

The original children who played PK’s nephews were unavailable (”We were like 2 during all that, we really don’t care”) and, besides that, had already aged out of the roles (the comeback was a Ten Years Later kind of deal, and it had been more like 14 or 15 since the end of the show, so the original kids were already mid-late teens. Therefore, when the director discovered Donald was now caring for his three nephews (convenient that there were three) he suggested they play the role of the triplets. Donald left it up to the triplets, under the stipulation that they would have minor roles (as the triplets always did) and this wouldn’t interfere with school.

They actually made a whole new role for Webby in the show! Because the triplets agreed on the condition that Webby gets to join them. And that’s how Webby began to play the triplets’ younger sister. The director decided to take a page out of Donald’s real life and wrote PK’s sister out (this was also partially because the actress had died) so PK was now being a full-time father to his kids who had no idea who he really was.

But then Donald finds out that not only is Lyla there, not only is Angus there... so is Uno. Uno and both of his brothers. It’s quite a reunion. And of course everyone expects Donald’s most emotional reunion to be with Daisy, but no. It’s Uno. And Uno is the one he ends up on the front of a magazine with lol.

Also yeah they get married :3

Notre Duck!! That’s another one I enjoy though it isn’t as in-depth as the last. So basically Everett came to Earth, and it’s kinda like.... a Duck version of medieval times. He came here for inspiration, then ended up building Uno, who became like a son to him. However, when other flesh-and-blood ducks realized he was an android, they became fearful and called him a monster, and tried to attack and run him out of town.

After that, Everett hid him away in a tower attached to a church, where no one but the church staff would go. He didn’t want to lose his android son. But Uno watches the world below his tower change, dreaming of a day when he could go out there too.

One day he meets Donald, who is a street performer with an association to Scrooge McDuck, a king in a neighboring kingdom. Donald finds out very quickly that he is an android and doesn’t judge him for it, instead encouraging him to leave the tower because “life is about the adventure.” This, of course, does not sit well with Everett, who forbids Uno from leaving the tower or seeing Donald.

Donald is wanted by the lord of the city, who wants to use him against Scrooge (and earn favour with his own king). There’s no creepy old men lusting after young women and no slurs being used casually so.

Also anyway this actually spawned from me imagining Uno to the song Out There so yeah.
