You had been stuck in the same position for what felt like forever as you sat on the assigned wooden stool. Your arms felt tense and you could could feel yourself twitching. The long haired brunette in front of you chuckled, “Quit squirming. Just 5 more minutes, ok?” You whined, “You said that just before!” Xavier smirked, “This time I’m telling the truth. I’m almost done just hold that pose.” If it was anyone else you would have got up and walked away but, you had quite the soft spot for Xavier. You weren’t sure how you felt about it, or maybe you were just in denial. You first met Xavier Thorpe at the start of the year, sharing the class of botanical sciences with Ms Thornhill when the only available seat was next to him. It didn’t take long for him to befriend you, admiring your passion towards botany as well as art. You gazed at the long haired boy in front of you, watching as his brows furrowed with concentration, his slender fingers at work sketching you, and the sun shining on him just right. You could watch him all day. Xavier of course noticed your staring, secretly basking in your gaze. He noticed everything. His signature smirk found its way onto his face, “Done staring?”

Your mouth fell agape, cheeks flushed at the embarrassment of being caught, “Shut up.” The brunette only grinned wider in response. You cleared your throat collecting yourself, “Are you finally done?” Xavier simply nodded, beckoning you to come look at his sketch. He looked away, suddenly shy as you gasped in response to his artwork. It was stunning, his line work was precise capturing your entire essence, the shadows in his work adding depth to your face. It was perfect. You looked over at the suddenly shy boy, your hand cupping his narrow chin, gently guiding him to look at you. “Xavier Thorpe,” he loved it when you said his name, “you have truly out done yourself. This is perfect.” A soft smile graced his face, “Really?” You held eye contact with his green eyes, “Really.” His lanky arms snaked around your waist pulling you closer from where he sat, “It’s all thanks to my muse.” Your breath hitched from the close proximity, internally cursing yourself as you reminded yourself it was only a friendship. But you found yourself desperately craving more.

A playful grin breaks out on your lips, “Oh yeah? You better be grateful!” Thorpe smirks in return, “I can find better ways to show my gratitude.” The two of you dangerously dangled over the lines of friendship and romance, your heart beating sickeningly quick. Your voice dropped to a soft whisper as you cupped his face, “Then show me.” Xavier lets out a groan at your words, craving you just as desperately. Unbeknownst to you, Thorpe’s had his eyes on you the moment you walked into Thornhill’s class, kicking out Ajax from his seat as you scanned the room lost. “You have no idea how much that means to me.” The long haired brunette leaned in capturing your lips in a kiss you were more than happy to return. His arms pulling you flush against him as he guided you onto his lap straddling him. As you kissed, one of your hands travelled to his hair tugging gently as he whined into your mouth. You took a mental note of course.

You pulled away to catch your breath but, Xavier wasn’t quite done with you yet. His lips trailed down from yours, moving to your jaw and onto the juncture between your neck and shoulder sucking harsh enough to leave a mark as you groaned beneath him before soothing it with a kiss. You were gasping against him as he marked your neck over and over before he met your lips again. There was no fight for dominance as you slipped your tongue into his mouth, that boy would honestly let you do anything to him. You ran your hands through his hair once more as he groaned until the two of you finally pulled away. You gave him one more peck, “You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do that.” Xavier raises his eyebrows smirking slightly, “Oh yeah? You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do that!” You grin, “Winner gets a kiss.” He pulls you closer staring at your lips, “Can’t argue with that.”

hey! what are your fav halsey songs? or listening order? I never gave her music a go but idk where to start with her albums

sorry I know you sent this a while ago I'm catching up!! anyway<3 I'm a big believer in listening to an album in its original order if you're listening for the first time. as for what order you should listen to the albums in, if you want to listen to The Great Impersonator without any prior halsey listening, you can. It's a very standalone concept album that deals with topics Halsey themselves says they didn't speak about on other albums. I think it's her most diverse album genre-wise too so you'll get a sense of Halsey's range from listening to TGI more than any other album. Other than TGI, Manic and If I Can't Have Love I Want Power are their most critically acclaimed albums. Manic is more alt-pop and IICHLIWP is a cinematic rock album co-produced by Nine Inch Nails and Trent Razor and Atticus Ross. Manic is probably Halsey's best alt-pop work and is mostly about their struggles with bipolar. IICHLIWP is not just my favourite Halsey album but one of my favourite albums period and I can't believe it's not appreciated more! The production is stunning, dramatic and rich and the body horror gender exploration narrative throughout is gutwrenching. I'd start with Manic, then IICHLIWP, then The Great Impersonator. Or just The Great Impersonator and IICHLIWP. If you like those then go back and listen to her early stuff to see how they've grown artistically. It's amazing!

gonna go on a little mini tangent about nimona movie adaptation. it's gonna include lots of spoilers for the graphic novel so if you haven't read it yet (and you should!!) you can just scroll past spoiler free <3 anyways,

first off i am SO fucking pumped up about the nimona movie this is doing things to my middle school heart you have no idea <3 <3 <3 they're definitely branding it in the area of that kind of edgy but family friendly movie vibe that's been popular with certain projects lately (low key some parts of the trailer were giving me mitchells versus the machines while others were giving me the same energy as the bad guys, which is an interesting mix imo they're both good animated movies from the recent past but at the same time they're both tonally different in many ways not to mention very different tonally from the original nimona comic imo) and basically where i'm going with this is i hope they keep the original tone of the comic. the graphic novel does a really great job of shifting between lighthearted comedy and the complex emotions of the characters really well, especially with the twist at the end where we find out that nimona has been lying about her past the entire time (OGH that ending is SO GOOD it gives me chills just remembering the panel where we find out the story about the dragonslayer going after the shapeshifter and the rumors that the shapeshifter TOOK THE DRAGONSLAYERS PLACE??? AUGH those panels are burned into my mind forever). basically i am a little worried because of the marketing that they might soften the darkness associated with nimona's past/backstory or even change it entirely, but of course that's all speculation bc they could literally just be doing what the comic did which was market itself as really upbeat and silly modern fairytale twist and then turn around and make everything really fucking dark as the novel approaches the end of the second act and the beginning of the first act.

also when it comes to the character designs i am OBSESSED with blackheart and goldenloin the designs are SO!!!! not to mention the setting itself, they're definitely leaning into the futuristic aspect but i hope they keep a lot of the down to earth fantasy elements from the comic as well, i feel like nate did a really great job creating a world that is such a unique blend of ren fair fantasy tropes (for lack of a better term) and magical high tech inventions and it's something that i really hope doesn't get lost in the translation to the screen. obviously i can imagine that the show-y-ness of a cyberpunk-esque world is very visually appealing and also probably pretty fun to animate but i'm hoping they're teasing a lot of those dystopian sci fi visuals for the trailer because they get ppls attention and then they bring in a similar mix of the ren fair fantasy elements from the comic.

i hope they maintain nimona's whole gender vibe as the same sort of fluid energy that i got from her in the book, idk if it was just me but nimona reads as not only gnc but as a very nonbinary/genderfluid character and i always thought it was really cool how ready she was to shapeshift to different gender presentations in the comic.

this is more just on the curious musings side but i also wonder if they'll do the little bit where she dyes her hair purple?? its such a weird little moment in the comic i could see them deciding not to put it on screen but i think it'd be a cute nod to the book. or maybe they do a little bit of dialogue where she mentions to blackheart that she's thinking about changing her hair color and mentions purple, it'd just be cute i think <3

uhhh yeah i guess my biggest wonder about the movie rn is just how dark they're willing to take it, tonally? because the book gets DARK and ofc it's also aimed kinda at middle grade, just like the movie is, but what's allowed in middle grade books is very different from what's marketable in a middle grade family friend film. i really do hope they do the whole dark underbelly of the kingdom reveal, though, and the second act arc where nimona's true violent and chaotic nature starts to spiral out of ballister's control, and of course the unethical experimentation and the legend of the shapeshifter and nimona's entire story to ballister being a lie.....

AUGH i am going to get so emotional about this movie but yeah <3

experience/how many years:  i've been roleplaying forever, tumblr since i was like ? twelve ? we won't talk about it. but i've been around awhile.

best experience: probably when i was frequently writing in the tma/penumbra/podcast fandom. i made a lot of friends and plotted a lot / idk, it was really comfortable and was a safe space, though my time writing beetlejuice was also really fun, it was the first time i ever made an rpc server and i learned a lot !  

rp pet peeves: replacing fcs for aesthetics / shipability - ie replacing fat or old actors ( especially older women ) with younger / more conventionally attractive actors OR using skinny faceclaims and then "body claims" for fat muses. ( i understand it's hard to find the perfect fc especially when fat actors / content for fat actors is hard to come by, but it feels bad to me as a fat person. ). the idea length of reply / speed of reply = effort / care. sometimes, words are hard, i'm dyslexic and work full time, we're here to have fun and personally i don't care if you match length. write what you can / what you feel.

plots or memes: both ! i love a good plot but i am very much the sort of person who likes to improvise a majority of the time, i like to go with the flow, though gerri is one of my more plot driven blogs due to the nature of the show, i'm just not very good at like . . . plotting. i'll just throw ideas at you and giggle. 

long or short replies: i personally write para / sometimes novella, especially with gerri, she has a lot of thoughts and emotions she doesn't actually display but i feel are important to understand what she means. a lot of the time what she's saying needs to be deconstructed, and there are multiple layers to it, which is hard to get across in shorter replies. though i'm not opposed to one-liners.

are you like your muses: some of them yes, most of them not so much. gerri is far more serious than i am, she's also more sure of herself and better at hiding her nerves / desire for acceptance, but we both crave that sort of acceptance, and for both of us a large obsticale in getting it is our perceived gender. i project a lot onto my muses which is something i'm aware of. ( i'm far more like connor in terms of personality, which uuh says something. ) . she's also sixty years old with a law degree and a job she's secure in making millions of dollars a year, while i'm just a goofy little guy.

Review: Orphia and Eurydicius!!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Summary: Orphia and Eurydicius is another fantastic installation in the recent trend of Greek mythology retellings. The story is a gender-bent version of the classic Orpheus and Eurydice story, following the life, love and tragedy of Orphia, daughter of the Sun God Apollo and Chief Muse Calliope.

What I loved about this book: ✨ The writing: so gorgeous!! Definitely a bit self indulgent at times but, cmon, it’s a book about epic poetry, it’s going to be a bit flowery! ✨ The story: the pacing was solid, and the actual plot was compelling and kept me engaged. The inclusion of the Medea sub-plot was a great choice and continued with the feminist theme of the book, while also introducing a conflict within Orphia. ✨ The romance: bi4bi supremacy FOREVER!!!! This book literally REVOLUTIONIZED the way I view relationships as a queer person in a ‘straight’ relationship. Honestly it was pretty therapeutic to see how Orphia and Eurydicius were depicted as unapologetically, unwaveringly queer while also being together. I also loved how Orphia was the one who ‘led’ the relationship, which spoke to me as someone similar to her who does not often see this relationship dynamic on page.

What could have been better: ⚡️ The characters: as much as I loved the two MCs, I thought that, at times, they fell a little flat. I don’t think it’s a massive issue but as someone who enjoys character-driven stories, I thought that they could’ve been fleshed out more - in particular, I would’ve loved the depiction of some major character flaws (other than loving each other too much…) ⚡️ Some of the relationships: several of the female relationships felt a little empty. I think this is a trap that many authors fall into with feminist retellings, where the focus on female friendships as revolutionary and utopian constrains the characters from acting like humans and having messy, complicated relationships. An example of this is when Orphia meets Atalanta, who at first seems standoffish, but almost immediately becomes lovely and friendly and #girlboss solidarity with Orphia. And then Orphia is like ‘omg let me write about your girlboss escapades 😍’ idk overall the instant friendship seemed… forced. ⚡️The Girlboss-ness of it all: I’ve seen several people critiquing the way this book approaches feminism; in particular, it echoes White, ‘girlboss’ Feminism. I actually agree, to an extent, with this analysis. The permeating idea that women are exceptional only when they adopt traditionally male roles rubbed me the wrong way, and I think any well-rounded piece of feminist literature should be a little more nuanced in its exploration of gender roles, and should represent intersectionality.

Conclusion: This novel, despite its drawbacks, is dear to my heart. It shone a light on parts of my mind which have been long neglected, and it really solidified my conceptualisation of relationships and the indivisibility of queerness, even when existing in straight-passing relationships. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Greek mythology, retellings and bi4bi romance 🥰

I tried to record my voice answering this, like I sometimes did on tik, suddenly ended up trying to muffle the floods of my burning tears, so now I have an awkward vid of me talking then weeping out of nowhere, which a good reason for me to keep up the no cry habit, heh.. but seriously, I suppose I'm fine till I be conscious of it.. its much easier for not to talk .. even tho I'm aching to be back in thy company, lonely in my foresight to catch on to the present that joins us, hand held out to reach like minded souls but shying from the fear of forgetfulness occurring..

I'm fine tho, did few new stuff, merely drowning in too muchness and nothingness as usual, this month I guess you could say I took an act of mad fury in search of any happy source because the echoing silence and the swarm of sadness nipping on my brain cells thickened, and the reasoning merged with the obscene. So instead of giving my guardians the usual of 3/4 of my earnings last month for net and groceries, I spent it all. Ya know, as it was told to me it mine to do as I please? As being prevented any chance of work if it was possible, 't was supposed to be spent on art supplies & measly delights craved for years ?

Before hand, I've been begging them to take me for months to get any clothing or whatever, be it the first time I ever see a shop, then just to drive around, then just me peaking to the outside when the front door is open, merely seeking change I suppose. They kept vaguely promising me until they refused point blank— getting tired of my nagging, then their car just stopped working till this day. Its in the workshop rn..

Anyway, befouled by despair, needing the mere basics of life and not granted, I was delighted when i found a site to buy from cheap & pretty, I pressed buy without any further considerations, or taking their permission and thrilled to be able get gifts for my siblings too. I say gifts but really they are deprived necessities too and not even much just one each cuz well, they are 5 of my babies and to start with the top of priorities; we all draw

I could already see it, they can't help themselves; heck seeped through the clenched gates of their mouths, trying desperately to poison me with undirect attempts this time, cuz I bought for my sibs they're out of the option of calling me selfish. I was upping the same trance like state of vague existence dealing with them, absorbing their insults and degrading just to make sure my shi arrives safe.

Unfortunate for me, the site chose the worst carrier in this country

I did everything in my power to make it into their convenience, by embarrassingly messaging the carrier daily, they took a week of promising to deliver and flanking so my guardians reached a heated level of threatening, waving their hands nd almost tossing shi at mE saying that they don't care if they came and if i dared to order something again they'll do this and that. Not allowing me to open the door for the delivery guy when he comes, blaming me for missing vaccination dates (they kept missing them even before)& missing going to important places(again, they just didn't go to for ages), made them loose sleep, etc etc— in turn, I seen red and regretfully blew up.

I screamed at them its literally the only time I ever did this, it BECAUSE it easier on them & I'll do what I want whatever anyway, & to stop interrupting me while I try to explain things , then they suddnly back done and be like I'm not mad at u I'm mad at the delivery ppl, that they are proud of me for being able to do all this, and such sort. I left them to cool in my room, Idk how I did it but must have slam-gripped something so hard it chipped most of my short nails & cracked one, was glad I didn't hurt my drawing hand but yeah, goofy mani

They robbed me of the joy of anticipation & the dissipation of apathy, I started to lose sleep again and my liberating dreams left me and I don't think I remember leaving bed.

But still, If not force myself to do things.. there'll be nothing for me if I don't.. at least I know im able of that

I got my guardians happy tho after another tiresome refusal, by trying out one of those Uber-eat like local apps here, since they have no car and being disabled & ill, I ordered McDonald's for the first time. Slythry behind their backs per habit, told them someone coming and they had that look again, but thankfully the guy came through and didn't steal my money, heh. For a big 1800 calories meal I suppose it was passable, the happy fam faces I got was the real treat..

Oh with that thing with the credit card stating I owe them money, waited weeks & nobody got back to us? They started taking from my guardian's account directly to pay it, saying oh we did send you warnings--- TO THE SHADOWY LINES OF THEIR POSTERIOR A.K.A NOWHERE. Thankfully the account is mostly empty nd just for random transactions, i alerted my guardians not to use it. And again, my god, another round of endless calls and promises started, and we wait again so they just don't act as if we owe them a frking 17k dollars that we don't have.. was panicking cuz I have nothing and but my guardians were weirdly comforting about it and told me not to worry

One thing good bout no net is it made me stop thinking about life in general, and stop the tiny unnoticeable prick of misery when I have no input to share, trying not to helplessly compare people just living, in inflated style or not, in media, to my isolated-most-of-my-life style and missing much of that organic "life experiences and chances", heh. At least, my situation would be favorable to me if it was ever possible for it to let me have peace, or have the simple knowledge I'm not virtually imprisoned and have never familiarised with nothing of this world but the surrounding walls.. its nice to have more time to be consumed by muse and day dreaming that flutters life through my dull being and sing chorus of inspiring means for art to flow and finds its way delicately onto my realised canvas.. but no, I continued drawing whilst sight blurred with salty droplets contradicting that happy tintin dance on tiktok I worked so long on just cuz I couldn't stop, not the tears or the mad scribbles of determined intention to visualise the mourned excitement I need, hating everything I make

Somehow the lilac dream still intrudes, visualising me friends, living, in a quaint home, maybe we roommate, arm in arm we go to make every fracture of fate's encounters a disgusting adventurous thrill, like building a maze of cardboard or chasing each other in the dark.. maybe getting that half bleached head and endless ear pericings ... then it dies and I totally forget it..

But what those awesome headphones helped me do, literally blocks all their voices listening to Sev losing it and I can Waltz around not feeling gutted to go and interfere or play the referee each time. But I can't wear them forever, gives me a bad headache, and honestly; I can't be too neglectful.. my sibs hates me for it already hehe

At least these clothing came true to their measurements, felt the new sensations on how everything I wore hugs me & learnt the baffling ways on how "gender" and region plays different tunes on the same measurements. Getting fitting things felt like suddenly there's hope to be, for myself to be me, and ease this severe disassociation between who I am, and what my body is .. from how little I see myself nd consider it worthy of anything because of how long it been living like a phantom among people.. to numb this dysphoria until it be gone one day

Saddened that the only site I can't order from again if they keep using that awful carrier

B. Bold: Does your character mock other people nonverbally? Have they ever gotten in trouble for making a sarcastic facial expression?

Yes, and yes. Though she’s gotten a lot better at managing her temper, Balam’s expressive. She has a scathing, derisive Look she throws people which usually makes them reconsider what it is they’ve said or done, or at the very least, makes their skin crawl. She also scoffs a lot- both of these things have gotten her into trouble especially with her parents- The Look was her way of cutting them down when using Words to defend herself had uh, a high opportunity cost. It also came with its own opportunity cost, however.

A. Accent: What accent does your character have? Are there any words or phrases they use more often than other people? How good is your character at imitating other accents and sounds?

Balam still has her East Prakran, fantasy-Malayalam accent. She’s been speaking in Vesuvian for long enough that it’s not quite as thick as it used to be when she first arrived, but it’s still definitely there, and definitely shows more when she’s talking to Thangam or Nahara or any of the Satrinavas. She’s prone to over-pronouncing like, every syllable, extending her vowels, mixing up her “o” sounds (she pronounces the “o” in “office” like the “o” in boat) and in general talking really fast. 

Out of all of them, Balam switches languages the most and most easily too. Both Sybilla and Zurkhi know More Languages than Balam does but Balam’s the one who goes from East Prakran to Prakran Common to Vesuvian to Zadithi in like, two sentences when she’s talking to someone who catches up. Her first language is also very run-on sentence and conjunction heavy and that actually carries on into her Vesuvian too. Same goes for the “no?” she adds to many sentences.

Her own accent gets in the way of her faithfully and intentionally imitating an accent, but she subconsciously picks up on them a lot- like she mirrors accents a lot so I’m sure she pronounces some words now like Portia or Nahara or Yazakh do.

Bonus juice: I know you’ve seen this and we’ve discussed this but Parvathy Thiruvothu remains Balam’s voice and speech pattern claim.

“Dei,” is gender neutral, and all her friends, especially Zurkhi and Asra get Called That. More than slang per se, she uses a bunch of pet names and exclamations in her native language, and definitely some figures of speech that really don’t work out of a hyperspecific context. Taking the back of someone’s hand and- not so much as kissing it but breathing them in is a very East Prakran mannerism and Balam does it a lot. Deboning someone’s fish is also an Act of Love. Idk if this counts as a mannerism but left to her own devices she usually eats with her hands because she comes from a culture that does.

Always and all the Time And Forever. Constantly. If you catch her unawares 9/10 times she’s pacing and gesticulating wildly with many Expressions and talking a hundred miles per hour to herself.

Nurlan plays with her hair more than her clothes, but she does play with her shawl sometimes- especially twirling the end of it around. When she’s anguished her hands get shaky, and she hides them in her shawl too.

U. Untrue: Is there something your character always does when they’re lying? Have any other characters realized this?

Nurlan doesn’t lie a lot- in fact, her most consistent and probably only lies all circulate around “I’m fine.” On first glance it’s hard to tell if she’s lying tbh. She’s emphatic in everything she says and it’s hard not to be convinced when she’s smiling like that- but someone very perceptive, or people close to her in a certain way can tell her tells- the deliberate cheerfulness, the minute faltering in her expression, that sort of thing. 

R. Relax: What mannerisms does your character have when they’re relaxed?

Nurlan’s not very fidgety unless she’s really stressed so if she’s relaxed she’s probably just- reclining. She lets her hair down when she’s very relaxed, and slowly runs her hands through it, extra-curling the curly ends a bit.

L. Location: Does your character use any regional slang? Are any mannerisms more common in their home location than in other places?

Whatever South End has got going on, Nurlan has got going on too. That she and Sanzhar both curse a lot is probably a consequence of that. Other than that, clicking her tongue when she’s exasperated and going “Ai,” the way she pours her tea only halfway up the cup, the way she gestures to things with open hands instead of pointing at them, are all Nankhen things she’s picked up from her family. 

A. Accent: What accent does your character have? Are there any words or phrases they use more often than other people? How good is your character at imitating other accents and sounds?

Nurlan’s accent is more or less “neutral”, I think? I like to think she has a very Theatre way of speaking too- a little bit of a drawl, letting the last syllable hang in the air for the Dramatic Effect, drawing out people’s names, also for the Dramatic Effect. It’s South-End Vesuvian with a dash of Drama. Sometimes, in some words, especially the “r” or the “h” sound, or when she pronounces new names, you can sort of hear traces of the Nankhen accent. 

She uses a lot of terms of endearment in just normal conversation- Noone is immune to being called “sweetheart” or “darling” or “beautiful” or “handsome” by Nurlan. 

Being scary good at impressions also means she’s scary good at imitating accents. She’s the opposite of Balam in that regard- she can pick them up with intention; she meets a lot of people on a daily basis, and can imitate all of them. She definitely does a spectacular impression of all the Satrinavas, and definitely regales them with it on Sanzhar’s wedding

Putting it bluntly: Functionist alt. dimension Rung has a whole lot of plot holes. Swiss cheese boy. I’ve made liberal changes here and there so that he can play with a majority of muses in the MTMTE/LL community, but I’ve also taken a lot of free reign giving Rung’s general lack of backstory in-between spoiler/plot beats :P

Rung is a very rare type of character, being an ostensibly ‘masculine’ character (in regards of a human binary lens) who prides himself on empathy, understanding, and caring for others’ physical and mental wellbeing in ways that often linger in more ‘feminine’ realms (again, in approx. to the human binary); it interests me to be able to explore such concepts in a territory where, considering lore and implied history, there’s no societal concept of (human ideal culturally-imposed) gender. He’s a creator ‘deity’, he literally produces souls, but nothing about his design is meant to emphasize a human sense of reproduction/fertility/etc. Most people would never look at him and conclude who and what he is. There’s also the fact that he’s been methodically documented, experimented on, taken apart, and then tortured for approx. 2 million years and yet he refused to let that break him. Rung is unflinchingly kind, willing to reach a hand out to anyone who needs a shoulder to lean on even when he has nothing of his own to offer. Hell, he studied medicine and philosophy so he could build the foundations for the Cybertronian method of behavioral psychology because even without memories of being Primus, Rung wants to take care of his creations. ...And then you add in how absolutely adorable it is to watch this old man dodder about with his puzzles and models and big googly glasses and I love him so much okay--

To be honest, Rung can be kind of a Mary Sue/over powered character in some people’s eyes. Like, what, this random character who’s new to the franchise and made specifically by the author is actually Transformers God who suffered amnesia? And is friendly and polite to everyone but also has a streak of keeping a grudge and survives literal untold horrors because his body can just heal itself?? And he spits out crystals that make up sparks??? OH AND HE’S MILLIONS OF YEARS OLD AND DID I MENTION HE’S GOD SOMEHOW AND THEN HE STRAIGHT UP JUST DIES TWICE IN CANON, WOW

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO RP YOUR MUSE?

H,,,, Him round,,,,,,,, No really I just loved his design that much. Him round. Also both my mom and my granddad are shrinks so I have, like, a basic grasp on psych stuff after reading through their textbooks and watching my granddad’s old research films and study tapes, so it was familiar territory I settled on writing Functionist!Rung in specific because I sympathize with having weird + painful medical shit inflicted on you all the time and because the idea of someone so genuine and careful being the core of a revolutionary movement is really,,, makes my heart squeeze.

BACKGROUND  ;

some  people  are  born  lucky,  and  others  are  lucky  to  be  born,  and  as  her  name  might  suggest  diamond  tiaira  patterson  was  one  of  thee  few  born  lucky  in  chicago.  her  father  is  a  big  time  music  producer  who  peaked  in  the  90s  all  the  way  through  the  mid  2000s  who  worked  with  all  your  early  childhood  favorites  and  her  mother  is  a  former  elite  gymnast  who  wowed  crowds  in  the  summer  olympics  in  ‘91.

the  patterson  name  oozed  greatness  in  the  city  and  saw  nothing  but  success,  diamond  was  destined  for  greatness  when  her  mom  forced  put  her  into  gymnastics  at  age  four,  and  the  young  woman  thrived  and  excelled  every  since,  even  dedicating  her  talents  to  track  and  field,  cheerleading,  and  volleyball  in  high  school  where she was a 4x  state  champion  between  cheerleading  and  volleyball.  but,  gymnastics  always  came  first  no  matter  what.

the  glory  at  such  a  young  age  was  enthralling,  diamond  loved  the  attention,  she  loved  performing,  it  became  a  2nd  nature,  but  the  pressure  from  her  mom  to  push  harder  and  harder,  and  the  fear  of  letting  her  down  was  something  that  drove  her  competitive  nature  through  the   roof.  but  it  gave  her  an  edge,  her  desire  to  be  great  was  sickening.

but,  she  had  all  the  talent,  and  the  accomplishments  to  back  whatever  she  had  to  say.

the  competitiveness  drove  her  to  sabotage  a  fellow  competitor  who  scored  a  point  higher  than  her,  and  had  the  possibility  of  beating  her,  so  diamond  put  a  teeny  tiny  thumbtack  on  the  balance  beam,  and  her  opponent  landed  foot  first  on  it  and  twisted  that  ankle  all  the  way  up  and  landed  on  her  neck,  her  career?  DONE  FOR.  it  wasn’t  her  intention  of  course  ,  she  was  young  and  impulsive,  but  what’s  done  was  done.

diamond  went  on  to  gain  national  recognition  for  her  accomplishments  even  having  an  OUTSTANDING  showing  in  the  olympics  as  part  of  team  usa  at  the  age  of  19  winning  four  gold  medals,  and  since  then  she’s  been  on  magazine  covers,  guest  starred  on  tv  shows,  modeled  a  bit,  and  she’s  currently  dabbling  into  music  with  the  help  of  her  father.  a  big  reason  why  they  moved  to  nyc  he’s  her  dadager,  and  they  want  to  make  her  the  next  big  thing,  but  with  all  the  personalities  in  nyc,  they’re  in  for  a  surprise.

born to a lower class family in boston, ma, into the gunther name which were once great musicians back in austria. her father took this very seriously and so named her brothers after composers (johann and wolfgang) and herself after the siren of the rhine. 

he wanted very badly for them to be successful in music and in life, so lorrie had a lot of pressure from the outset. also, her parents went through a very messy divorce early in life.

she developed severe anxiety by the time she was in first grade, and was diagnosed selectively mute. the only people she would talk to for years were her brother wolfy, and her oma, who lived with them. 

did manage to get some treatment and eventually recovered, mostly thanks to her oma, who taught her how to express herself, mostly through music. 

her oma died two years later, when lorrie was thirteen. since then, she’s basically had a mental breakdown every three months at least. 

even then, she dedicated herself to her music, even though her father had long since given up on her. but johann, while diligent, proved not to have the passion required, while wolfy, who had the passion, refused to be diligent, and eventually left the family on bad terms. 

lorrie also, strangely, found some confidence in drama class; it was easier to be someone she wasn’t than the person she was. after her first time onstage without bursting into tears, her friends convinced her to try out for the school talent show, knowing she was a singer-songwriter. 

she managed to get through her audition, but at the actual show? she froze. she couldn’t stand to be herself in front of everyone. 

slowly, she realized she could be somebody else. a few months later during a sleepless night, the kind where she’d usually cut her hair or redecorate her entire room, she went to the local walmart and bought every glittery thing she could find. she wouldn’t sing as herself, she’d sing as someone else, even write as someone else.  

and when one of her classmates had a filmography project and wanted to do a music video, the fifteen year old lorrie offered her song. 

that video was called starr - “royals”, and within a few days of it being uploaded, it went viral. 

it wasn’t until a universal rep knocked on the gunthers’ door that lorries father even acknowledged her success. and acknowledge it, he did. 

lorrie hated how affectionate her father had become all of a sudden, but someone had to accompany her to los angeles to record her ep. 

she hated los angeles, not only for what it did to her father, but what it did to herself, too. starr was how she presented herself to the public, she became the crutch lorrie used to get through these schmoozing conversations. where lorrie was awkward and nervous, starr was graceful, mysterious, intriguing. 

also, drugs. way too many drugs. 

by the time her first album went platinum, she realized that her father was wasting her money on all kinds of things. they had a blowout fight one night and, even though she was only seventeen, she emancipated herself and locked her father out of all of the accounts. she also left la.

in  good  old  2010  ...  13  year  old  seola  &  sora  snuck  into  tulsy  woods  (  even  though  their  dad  always  said  never  to  go  in  there  )  to  play  around  with  their  magic  ,  got  into  an  argument  ,  and  that’s  when  seola  accidentally  ended  up  hurting  sora  really  really  badly  ): 

after  the  accident  seola  wanted  to  give  up  magic  forever  ,  but  her  mom  convinced  her  that  the  best  way  for  her  to  get  over  her  fear  of  ever  hurting  someone  again  was  to  practice  .  so  while  sora  got  closer  to  their  father  ,  who  had  covered  up  the  accident  in  the  woods  and  used  it  to  spread  his  own  agenda  ,  seola  got  much  closer  with  their  mom  

determined  to  get  better  at  controlling  her  abilities  and  also  super  terrified  that  she’d  hurt  someone  like  she’d  hurt  her  sister  if  she  didn’t  ,  seola  practiced  and  practiced  ...  then  she  practiced  some  more  .  while  most  people  her  age  were  going  through  high  school  focused  on  going  to  college  afterwards  ,  seola  was  counting  down  the  days  til  she’d  be  free  to  do  nothing  but  learn  as  much  as  she  could  about  being  a  witch  

it  was  around  this  time  she  also  started  to  get  ...  suspicious  about  her  dad  and  his  intentions  .  she  was  grateful  that  he  didn’t  tell  the  truth  about  the  accident  ,  scared  ppl  would  have  viewed  her  as  a  monster  if  they  knew  what  really  happened  ,  but  the  way  her  dad  was  acting  about  tulsy  woods  was  super  suspicious  especially  with  everything  happening  with  the  harvest  goddess  and  the  sprites .  basically  ...  seola  suspects  he  might  have  something  to  do  with  whatever’s  going  on  in  the  woods  ... 👁️👁️

after  high  school  seola  stayed  in  roselake  !  she  didn’t  go  to  college  like  sora  ,  much  to  her  dad’s  dismay  ,  but  she  did  take  some  online  classes  here  &  there  (  mysticism  and  rituals  ,  alchemy  ,  some  history  ones  ,  as  well  as  a  medieval  monsters  literature  class  ...  just  for  fun  <3  )  she  also  snagged  a  job  at  subtext  as  a librarian  ,  mainly  for  that  sneaky  access  to  all  the secret garden  books  

initially  she’d  just  been  curious  about  her  own  magic  ,  since  she  knows  it  doesn’t  come  from  the  harvest  goddess  like  a  sprite’s  magic  does ,  but  with  everything  going  on  she’s  extended  her  research   to  include  both  the  goddess  &  the  sprites  to  see  if  maybe  she  can  understand  whatever  her  dad  is  trying  to  do  in  roselake

she’s  got  a  bad  habit  of  fixating  on  things  and  then  letting  them  consume  her  .  sometimes  it  works  to  her  benefit  ,  like  focusing  so  hard  on  practicing  her  magic  and  finally  becoming  good  at  it .  most  of  the  time  ,  though  ,  her  curiosity  morphs  into  obsession  ,  and  it’s  very  easy  for  her  to  get  overwhelmed  and  feel  lost 

she  has  a  big  old  soft  spot  for  creepy  or  spooky  things  and  people  ,  100%  believing  that  more  often  than  not  the  stuff  we’re  afraid  of  is  stuff  we  just  don’t  understand  .  sometimes  ,  though  ,  her  attraction  to  the  “  dark  ”  is  a  manifestation  of  her  own  internalized  belief  that  there’s  something  wrong with  her  &  that  she’s just  as  capable  of  bad  as  she  is  good  ... cannot  believe  freud  just  possessed  my  body  like  that  😳

tell me the first song that made you stan your current fave group and why did your faves attract you so much?

ok SO the song that probably got me into rv 100% (also yes ik this blog is 99% nct but rv is my forever fave no question) was probably ice cream cake!! i had been a casual listener of many groups up until that point and had never really stanned anyone, but icc was so infectious i found myself watching it over and over. i had heard happiness and be natural before but hadn’t really listened too closely, so icc was the song that captured me. after that, dumb dumb only cemented my love for them more, and the red is still one of my favorite kpop albums to date. rv attracted me primarily because of their incredible vocals and their versatility in genres and concepts. i still get so excited wondering what they’ll tackle next!! they’re just soooo unique and have one of, if not the best discographies of any group. i cannot stress enough, I. Love. RV!! also they’re funny and gay so. anyway stream monster once it drops uwu

1. what is your favorite song that’s been released during quarantine? ooooo honestly??? probably something off of Sawayama. literally every song bangs so hard i highly recommend that album to anyone!! i can’t pick a favorite off it but who’s gonna save you now is awesome and xs is just,,, chef’s kiss

2. what is your greatest mishap when you tried cooking? (or something you’ve witnessed) one time, while making soup at my late grandmother’s house on her like gas stove, i put a lid on a pot and somehow that led the pot to be engulfed in flames. IN MY DEFENSE i was like 7, and i’m great at cooking/baking now

3. what’s your go-to outfit or article of clothing? oh i love a nice dress. they can be casual or formal, and you look like you put effort into your outfit except i didn’t because i didn’t have to match anything yo!!!! also shorts have trouble fitting me cause i’m a weird body type so dresses tend to be very comfy for me

4. what is your comfort food? am i allowed to say like all food??? eating in itself is comforting,,, that sounds depressing but also i just like eating yummy food. i guess i’d say like my dad’s fried rice?? its my fave and no one makes it like him soooo

5. what singular moment in your life would you like to relive? i couldn’t tell if this meant like, a good moment you want to re-experience or go back in time and redo a moment and fix it. it’s kind of a hard question so i might cop out and go with a bit of a silly answer: i want to relive the hi touch with astro...... i wanna look at rocky’s beautiful eyes and touch moonbin’s hand ok,,,,

6. what is your favorite line and/or character from a movie, show, or book? i got a bunch but a few off the top of my head are genie lo (the epic crush of genie lo), ty lee, suki (atla), klaus, and ben (umbrella academy) 

7. if you could only choose one ice cream flavor and pizza topping/style for the rest of your life, what would it be? ice cream flavor: this very specific one from a local store that is banana ice cream with strawberries and oreo mixed in. it is heaaaavenly. as for pizza topping, i love a breakfast type pizza with an egg on top and like sausage and stuff!!!

8. what is the worst injury you’ve ever had or witnessed? funny enough, i’ve actually gotten badly injured quite a few times, and always on the face!! god hates me. the worst was probably when i hit a metal bench with my face and it took a chunk out of my cheek. i still have the scar! as for “witnessed” i accidentally broke a grown man’s rib once as a child, so i guess that would count.

9. would you rather explore the unknown of space or the bottom of the ocean? oceaaaan!! i answered this in some other game, but i like how mysterious and yet close the ocean is. like proximity wise it’s so near, yet there’s an insane amount we know nothing about. that’s so frightening but so intriguing
