[ everyone is being ♥ on main so i will be ♥ on main too. this is the longest i’ve ever run an RP blog and i’m so glad because i’ve met great people and characters. even when i take forever to rp most people stick around and i appreciate it so much. thank you for liking my boys :)))) it’s part of me and my crunchy brain that i get to share with everyone and it’s been so incredibly fun and chaotic (good) that i am going to be here until this hellsite burns down. and if that happens i will finally discord drop in a way that doesn’t require kanji knowledge. :P (but if we’re in mutual servers pls feel free to reach out if you ever need to!) ]

[ for anyone interested, I’m formally turning the backstory of this blog into a fanfic over at A03-- nothing will be changing about their story, it will only be expanded upon, and eventually lead right into a crossover that actually does apply to this blog since I’m just in so deep in all of the associated works which will join in the series eventually that I want them all to coexist. Anyway, you must have an A03 account / be logged in to read the story, and comments will be moderated since I have never posted fanfic before this-- I was too afraid. 笑  It is not required reading, but I wanted to share with you all anyway. ]

anyway. let me be more coherent about the last post i made. i think boiling it down to such a simple concept strips the possibility of a realistic relationship between two nation people. it’d be something that starts out, at least on japan’s side, as a relationship of convenience and exchange, and he does not intend to get too close to anyone in europe, but eventually things warm up a little-- not a lot, not for the sake of shipping, but enough that he might go and call someone a friend unironically. and then, of course, he’s vindicated later on when it turns out that wasn’t really true either and there was always reason to be mistrustful of them, and that at the end of the day, all relationships are convenience and exchange.

but then come present day, there’s more of an inclination to actually try and get along. the rules have changed slightly, and now it’s more about soft power, and japan can more easily befriend the west knowing that he’s not just looking like their next endeavor. the dynamics are so much deeper than “they’re friends uwu” and i think it’s a shame the community tends to ignore it for whatever reason. i don’t really care what the reason is but the more complex relationship that lines up better with real world events is much more interesting to me, and i’m not afraid to say that much.  ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

i’m not going to be mean in tags on someone else’s post so basically: japan from 1868-1945 was not the helpless stupid baby that people think he is.

hikaru isn’t even baby tbh but i digress. when japan befriended germany it wasn’t because anyone else felt pity for him and said “oh my, you need friends you poor socially inept baby, come here uwuwuwuwuwuwu” it was him saying “we need to learn from you people so you don’t swallow us whole like you did the rest of asia you fucking vultures,” with a smile before entering the room to speak with them face to face. 

i sent this post too soon and i’m coming off of a very rough few days so i know this sounds incredibly harsh but i’m so tired of this view of japan this is exactly why people conveniently forget about all the bad shit when it’s time to uguu over friendships like are you fucking kidding me.
