Results in Canon

I know fandom like’s to act like Kakashi did nothing in the fight against Kaguya, but he held his weight. It was Kakashi who saved Sakura multipul time’s, so without him she likely would have taken a very unpleasent swim in lava.

It was also Kakashi who came up with the plan that ultimately defeated Kaguya, after multiple attempts by Naruto and Sasuke to defeat her with their own plans. Without Kakashi there, i fully belive they would have lost and Kaguya would have taken her chakra back and thus destroyed every living human in the world.

And once again, it was Kakashi who ultimatly broke through to Obito. Ya Naruto had a hand in it, but it was Minato stopping Kakashi from killing Obito and make them talk that finally broke him down and brought him back to their side. Before that Obito was stubborn and refusing to listen to Naruto’s optimism.

Without Kakashi, they would have lost. He didn’t hold the winning hand in the fight with strength, but with kindness and intelligence. It was his actions reaching out to save people that helped to secure the win, and it was his genius and plan that won them the battle at the end of the day, mixed with Sasuke and Naruto’s strength.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s ignore it all and go with ‘they win by a miracle anyways’

Obito bring’s Kakashi’s body back and treats it like trash

This is a moment that i think Gai would have snapped. Instead of opening the eighth gate against Madara, i fully belive he would have done it to take Obito down. Kakashi is someone Gai fought tooth and nail for his whole life to keep him alive. To show him the good in the world.

To see Obito being so cruel towards someone who held him in such high regard for years would break Gai. He’d drop the kind and goofy person everyone know’s and became the leathal shinobi that they don’t expect but know exists.

Gai would burn alive with the power of his own chakra, and he would take Obito down with him. The two of them would die then and there, and i think even if Naruto had the ability to heal people at that point he wouldn’t with Gai because he’d understand why Gai did what he did.

Either way, Obito would be done for. He would meet his end because of his actions through Gai, and i think it would result in the loss of three really strong people.

Obito leave’s Kakashi’s body in the Kamui dimension

Everyone know’s what has happened, Obito still make’s sure that they know. He taunt’s Naruto with it and Gai attack’s him, but it’s not with the same anger as if Obito had brought Kakashi’s back and disrespected it

There’s no body, so there’s still a sense of hope tht Obito is lying and Kakashi will come back.

Kakashi never does.

Everything happens the same (and magiclly maybe Obito is awake and saves himself and Sakura form a dip in lava, or Sakura saves them). Obito still switches side’s but it’s harder to get him there and it’s harder for them to trust him.

He still dies, he still saves Naruto and Sasuke, but he’s not a hero.

He’s the man who killed Kakashi, and that leave’s a bitterness in everyone’s hearts.

How the mourn

Naruto and Sakura mourn together. They talk about their Sensei and all of the ridiculous things he did. How he annoyed them but also how he protected them and cared deeply about them. They mourn over Ramen and stories, and they never allow themselves to forget.

Sasuke mourns in prison. Kakashi had a huge part in freeing him, and i think with only Naruto vouching for him he wouldn’t find that freedom. Tsunade is still Hokage without Kakashi to replace her and she is far less forgiving, with no personal attachments of her own. Sasuke doesn’t really mourn. I don’t think he would care that much until the two of them had a chance to talk and reconcile, but he does think about Kakashi once in a while.

Gai (let’s say Naruto still saves him) isn’t quite the same. He still plasters a smile on his face and acts youthful, but everyone can tell there’s a piece of him missing. Without his eternal rival, he’s simply not the same. He mourns in silence, not leaning on anyone and not allowing anyone to see just how broken his heart is.

Yamato mourns in anger. It boils deep inside of him where no one can see, and he let’s it sit there festering. Growing. He think’s it’s controlled, but Yamato has never hated anyone as much as he hates Uchiha Obito. His senpai gave up so much to protect other’s and now they can’t even bury him. They can’t even confirm he’s dead with a body. He’s just gone and Yamato finally realizes how people feel hearing ‘they’re dead’ but never getting to see a body for themselves. It burns.

Disclaimer: i think Obito and Kakashi are on par, and the only reason obito win’s is because he has Hashirama’s cell’s healing him constantly and Kakashi does not. Kakashi was beaten in the long run because he run’s out of energy and can’t heal himself on the spot like Obito.
