i’m about 30 chapters into Greywaren and you’re telling me that “With each of them it had felt right” Gansey and “I’m in love with all my friends” Blue are just? not around??? like planes are falling out of the sky because dreams are falling asleep and they’re on their road-trip or whatever the fuck they’re doing like “seems normal!”

i’m totally okay with them not being in tdt because it’s not their story, but i can’t imagine them not being worried about Ronan or them not at least calling ADAM to be like “we just saw the craziest thing on the news”

the only thing i can think is that they themselves were dreams and nobody’s thought to check in on them—that’s how crazy it is to me that there’s no mention of them.

Percy has a whole cabin to himself and does NOT keep that shit clean, so I think that sometimes leaks into his home life

Oh yeah, the smart ass remarks are constant. He’s a little sarcastic asshole in the books and show (I forgot how he was in the movies)

It drives Sally insane because sometimes she can’t tell if you two are actually angry with each other or not

I feel like I can’t end this without mentioning Annabeth

Before they start dating, you liked to be an asshole and invite her over for dinner

You look over at Percy from time to time with the most devious look on your face

“Hey Percy, you were gonna pay for that dent in my car, right?” “No?” “Hm… Ann-” “I meant not right now! I need to save more money first” “Lovely”

He’s a victim of blackmailing

It’s a real shame when they get together finally. Now you have no leverage over him

I wonder sometimes what the L&Co crew did after they aged out of having the sight. Obviously Lucy makes some mention of them helping DEPRAC clear the other side and you can help with that even w/o sight thanks to the Orpheus society, but I don’t imagine they did that forever or even full time.

I’ve actually thought a LOT about what I think they end up doing as adults so… here’s an extremely long post about it:

George’s path is obvious to me. He becomes a foremost voice on the nature of the problem, and he’s able to go to Oxford for university (or the most prestigious UK university still running) on this basis. He gets a degree in history and goes on to a PHD. He then dedicates several years to writing a complete, multi-volume, history of the problem/agencies/corruption/visitors (which will go down in history as THE TEXT about the problem)

… I’ll put the rest under the cut bc this is fr going to be lonnnng

We also know from the existence of Lockwood and Co the books that Lucy at some point metatextually writes a memoir detailing the antics of Lockwood and co. (Which, go off girlboss, she did a great job.) For Lucy’s career path, I imagine that she is a formal DEPRAC partner for a time goes to the other side more than any of her other L&Co colleagues to help out.

This may be a weird take, but I also think that Lucy’s relationship with the Skull and all the weird experiments on ghosts she witnesses lead her to go all GHOST RIGHTS. She campaigns for seeing ghosts differently and repsecting the dead and works to get DEPRAC to create better regulations for how sources are treated when contained and advocates for figuring out how to release them to the other side rather than destroying sources as a first move. Idk I think it suits her relationship to ghosts; she’s definitely more invested in their humanity than other agents.

I don’t think Lockwood would try to hire young agents as a supervisor to keep the agency going after losing his sight. Especially since he’s aware that the problem is fading and considering he’d still have work available through DEPRAC. I think Lockwood spends his first few post-sight years in lots of therapy and takes time off from working since he’s been running a very intense business since he was like 14. I also think he foots the bill for Flo to get a therapist as well.

They’re both able to work through their grief and trauma from the people they’ve lost, Lockwood works through his habit of repressing his feelings, and Flo works through her feelings of being cornered while in doors. Flo eventually moves into Portland Row, and she and George and Lucy and Lockwood spend most of their young adult lives (whole lives if you ask me) living in the same house or living right next door to each other.

As for Lockwood’s actual career path I think Lockwood’s would make it his life’s work to share his parents findings. He spreads the traditional burial practices and ways to ward off ghosts like that Lockwood’s parent’s researched to help people protect themselves from ghosts around the UK as the problem fades.

I don’t know that I see Flo having a real job. I could see her in advocacy for housing insecure youth (we know London has MANY due to the Problem) but I’d also like to see her have a relaxing-ass life. Enjoy therapy and her friends, date George, plant a vegetable garden. Flo’s never cared much about material goods so I could see her working odd jobs here and there to help contribute to Portland Row Expenses, but mostly focus on nonprofit work and political activism while enjoying her life.

I think both Kipps and Holly stay on at Lockwood and co until it permanently disbands, then I imagine they both work to advocate for the rights of former agents in some capacity. If Holly could further her eduction I think she’d work in the legal system, maybe working in administration/research on cases that are attempting to hold leaders of the Orpheus society and high up Fittes and Rottweil people accountable for compensating traumatized former agents. Oh and she asks out that girl from DEPRAC she was living with (and they were roommates oh my god they were roommates)

I think Kipps might (after he’s matured a bit) get involved with a young adult professional development program trying to address all of the former agents and nightwatch kids who forwent education at a young age to hunt ghosts and help them access free education and classes to gain new marketable skills as the ghost hunting industry declines and kids age out of the sight. He also stops beefing with teenagers (so much) and lives out his destiny as surrogate brother/20 year old adopted father to Lucy George and the rest. And he gets himself a husband bc he deserves it 😤

As for the Skull… I’m in the camp that he does return and he occasionally stops by Portland Row to chat with Lucy and pull poltergeists type pranks on the other residents. When Lucy can no longer hear him 🥲 I still think he sticks around for a while, making his presence known by moving objects and helping keep the house cool in the summer (yayyy ghost chill), he also still speaks to Lucy when she does work on the other side with DEPRAC. But eventually, maybe when Lucy’s in her late twenties, the skull feels ready to move on, and Lucy visits to the other side to say good by and help him pass on.

oh. yeah. this definitely happens. yn is the emotional one in the relationship, she definitely gets teary a lot and she just sometimes can’t believe how lucky she is?? like she’s living and loving the man of her dreams. she’s the type to hold him close, kiss every inch of his face and just sob about how in love she is and how amazing it feels

yes! jeno does read sometimes, not as much as she does though and they like completely different genres 😭idk if you guys are fully deeping how different they actually are? they have nothing in common. yn will try and make jeno interested in her books and he’s just like… it’s not his style at all lmao

You’re wandering in the woods aimlessly, lost, in the depths of midnight. How did you end up here again? You can’t remember, it’s all so foggy, it’s so dark, you don’t know right from left or north from south…but wait, is that light in the distance?

Seeing no other option, you decide to venture towards it. Upon closer inspection as you draw nearer to this mysterious light, you find what looks like a tent. You smell the almost intoxicating air of incense being burned inside, and you can faintly hear someone humming. Surely, they’d let you in, wouldn’t they?

You decide to creep closer, hoping the stranger would offer you some protection from the night’s chill.

“Hello? Is someone in there…?”

“Oh! I’m comin’, give me a minute!” Came a voice from inside.

Just a few moments later, a woman emerged. Wrapped in black cloth as dark as the night itself, with purple as a stark contrast, and glittering with gold jewelry, her smile equally as bright.

“Ah, welcome, welcome, dear! Come inside, it must be chilly out there.”

She ushers you in, and you can finally take a good look at the tent, or the inside of it. It has an array of exotic things, all seemingly fantastic and unique in their own way. Some of the items make you wonder, how could this woman possibly have acquired these…?

“See somethin’ that catches your eye? By all means, take a look ‘round my shop, hun.”

The woman croons, sitting at some sort of table in the middle of the tent. Just how big was this place, anyway? It certainly didn’t look this way from the outside…

Then, you see a book. A story book, by the look of the cover alone. You start to reach for it, feeling as if it’s calling you…

“NO!”

Your hand jerks back at the sudden sharp tone of the woman’s voice behind you.

“This ain’t for sale, I’m afraid, darlin’…” the woman said, swiftly grabbing it and holding it in her hand.

“O-Oh…sorry…”

“Ah, no worries! How ‘bout this? I’ll tell ya a story or two — for the right peace. How’s that sound?”

You pause for a moment, unsure of what to think of this sudden arrangement. Last time you checked, you did have a good chunk of change in your wallet…a story or two couldn’t hurt, right?

“Uh, sure?”

You can’t remember, not now, in this moment, but something about this woman makes you feel like you’ve seen her before. Heard her voice.

“The Storyteller…alright, then.”

“Now that that’s settled, let’s begin, shall we? Ahem…Once Upon a Time, in a far off world from our own, there lived seven great beings...or so the masses thought they were.”

Came up with this idea after having a 20 minute crying session

This version of Calypso is called “The Storyteller”. Fun fact, this version of her is inspired by/twisted from Scheherazade, go look her up, she’s hella cool love her fr.

I wonder what that book entails…hmm…mysterious indeed…🌚

Basically — think of this version of Calypso as a narrator of sorts. Illuminating the stories of our beloved heroes and villains, making them seemingly come to life. With each story, the listener is finding themselves more entranced by each word.

But, how did she manage to get her hand on this book? It certainly isn’t one you’d find in a library. Well, the answer to that lies in the dark for now. Possibly to be answered later.

No but fr, my original intention was genuinely a happy ending. But as I outlined the story, I kinda realized how unrealistic that was. Truly, the odds are stacked against Will in every way, and my boy is holding up the best he can.

It’s interesting to me to see how the original story I had in mind changed and became the fic it is today. My original outline was all from Nico’s point of view, with 11 chapters, and it ending with Will and Nico running away together and living happily, and Naomi being alive and well. When the idea came for the Point of View switch to Will, the fic got longer and the character of Will got a lot more complex.

I thought the point of view switch really set it apart from the original source material; Lucy Gray in the books is meant to be a person of mystery; we never really know her “true” intentions, and since Snow was an unreliable narrator, we never got to know her as a character (which is INTENTIONAL on Suzanne’s part, and to this day, I am obsessed with her writing of Lucy Gray. Give me an excuse, and I’ll talk about it for HOURS.). But by giving Will his own voice in the story, I ended up learning a lot about him that made me realize that the only “happy” ending Will could get could not be achieved in this fic; it would need a sequel to really make it feel real and earned.

The POV switch changed the entire fic, basically. But good news! Without too many spoilers, in the sequel (as yet untitled) we do get to see Will receive proper treatment and take real, tangible steps towards recovery. Speaking from experience, recovery from dark mental places is something that can take years; to me, the original “happy ending” I had in mind made less and less sense the more I dug into Will’s character in this universe.

I ended up doing an inverse of the original book ending, which I thought worked best. I received a lot of comments/asks/etc being like “wait! Is Nico going to turn evil like Snow?!” I thought it was a cool narrative flip to have Will be the one who breaks down and tries to leave, and for Nico to beg him to stay. Idk. I like the inverse.

my thoughts on the first throne of glass book

so i finally started reading throne of glass two days ago and i just finished it and i rlly loved the first one! i didn’t start with assassin’s blade because i’m following the reading order sjm herself suggested. but i figured i’d give my thoughts on the book just for funsies. this isn’t like a review really just what i’m feeling abt the series thus far.

for quality i’d give it a 6/10 but for how much fun i had reading i give it a 9/10 and i care WAYYYY more about entertainment personally lmao. so overall i’d probably give it like an 8/10.

• why are there so many exclamation points

• so i’m gonna be honest i’m beyond confused about celaena’s name. bc everything i’ve ever seen about tog talked about some chick called aelin. now i’m just kind of assuming they’re the same person somehow but i have no idea what’s going on in that regard

• it was an enjoyable read but you can def kinda tell it was written when sjm was younger lol. but i know the writing is just going to continue to get better so it didn’t bother me THAT much, though i must say i’m anxious to get to the later books for that reason

• this book was FUNNYYYY omfg dorian and especially celaena had me laughing out loud at times. i hope the books stay this funny

• I LOVE CELAENA SM. like that’s my girl fr fr. thus far feyre is still my fav sjm fmc but honestly celaena has potential to change my mind

• i also love dorian and chaol and i’m not gonna lie i lowkey ship her with both of them (which is a rarity for me usually i’m very passionate about one or the other in a love triangle). but that may be because i’m aware i should not get attached to either ship LMAO

• speaking of chaol i spent half the book pronouncing his name as chowl in my head which made him very hard to take seriously. but honestly i feel like that is 100% sjm’s fault bc the fuck you mean chaol is pronounced kale!? how was i supposed to know that

• i’m curious when more magic elements are gonna show up. like i thought this was another fae series am i wrong there? i mean elena was fae so. maybe i just need patience (but i’m gonna be sad asf if some sort of fae plot twist erases my bffs dorian, chaol, and nehemia from the story)

• okay but seriously once again what is up with the exclamation points. why are they so many. like it was genuinely jarring in the first few chapters. idk if it faded later in the book or if i just got used to it but it genuinely bothered me for a while. pls tell me this isn’t a thing in the later books bc i don’t remember it being an issue in acotar

• i think challenges and shit in books are so fun so i loved that the whole book was centered around it, lowkey wish we saw more of the challenges tbh

• that freak monster that cain was summoning is the stuff of nightmares. i already forgot what it was called but i made the grave error of googling fanart of it and it was actually terrifying
