I think everyone’s subscribing to the “Helena Infiltration Theory” WAYY too quickly. I kinda feel like a lot of the oddities in the way she was acting could be chalked up to something else, and defaulting to “that’s not Helly” feels a lot like… I don’t know, like brushing off character flaws by saying, “No, [X] is possessed! That’s not actually them!”

I’d probably buy into it a bit more if she didn’t have that moment in the halls with Mark where she fervently said, “We’re not the same, actually. Us and the outies, we’re not.”

There are reasons why Helly would want to lie about her identity, and chief among them is the fact that she hates her outie—desperately wants to place distance between them, desperately wants to convince herself that the person she saw wasn’t her.

But there are compelling reasons for both angles, and I can’t say that I won’t be scanning future episodes for hints to either prove or disprove this, so… cheers, 🥂.

its kinda fascinating how you can draw something well and instead of learning from it for the next drawing you repeat the same old mistakes that kept you from improving in the first place

(was supposed to the next scene after the previous good painting lol)

its a rly early sketch (i know it wont work out though, too much wrong) but Zaphira (standing) was winning the fight against the guy that challenged her (he also cheated and attacked her weak leg with a dagger despite it being a fist fight) so he ordered the soldiers he hid in the audience to shoot, Shargon is catching the arrows in the air before they can reach her and she trusts him enough to not even react to it

#everyone’s different and this isn’t true for everybody of course:#but a lot of the time we have more control over things than we can see in a difficult moment #like for example #a negative thought is inevitable and not something you can just stop. however you CAN decide from there how you let it effect you #it’s way easier said than done but you genuinely can be like hey I’m going to have a good day today #I like to set my intentions for the day and not allow my trauma nightmares to dictate how my whole day goes #but in order to do that I have to consciously decide that I deserve better and then create that for myself #does this make sense?#do things you know you enjoy/ things that make you feel better. take care of yourself. create little healthy routines to do each day #even if it’s just for 5 or 10 minutes #you have to act to make a genuine positive change in your life and circumstances #tried to say this as well as I could but I struggle w articulating exactly what I mean #like my thoughts are too complex to translate into words #anyways though I just wanted to add this- this post is not to make anybody feel bad whatsoever.#if you struggle with certain disorders and such it genuinely might be close to impossible for you to actually be able to have that control #and that’s okay. it doesn’t make you any less of a person and it is not your fault that you experience those difficulties #I just wanted to remind people that it is possible to control certain aspects of your life and it is possible to snap yourself out of it #I know I need to remember this as often as I can #that’s why I shared it #I hope this makes sense I do not know if it does lmao #(the tags)#my thoughts are so jumbled up. idk what other word to use lmao

there r a lot of things about the myth of psyche and eros that makes me a little insane but one of them has always been the tasks from aphrodite and the unfairness of it. they're not intended to be possible. they're so obviously not meant to be possible, and psyche isn't fucking hercules, you know, she's not a demigod or whatever, she's mortal and these aren't mortal tasks!! it's why psyche has to be helped with each one, fucking by like ants and river gods and shit. and so like. idk. i know ppl see psyche and eros as like a story about love and shit which obviously it is but as a kid psyche and eros always felt like a story about being able to accept help

#in my theoretical adaptation of psyche and eros i'll never write i emphasize this theme #by changing psyche from a princess and youngest daughter to a poorer girl and eldest daughter who is very like. sophie hatter esque #also tbh when i first started thinking about my theoretical adaptation of psyche and eros i was reading hmc LMAO #also also ALSO. as a kid i always felt like the story was soooo deeply about regret and atonement and forgiveness #like YES the story is about love but not about easy love. love is difficult and requires work and sometimes u hurt each other !!!!!#it always struck me as a kid how psyche just. accepts the tasks.#i always read it as like. psyche KNOWS these tasks are unfair and i dont even think she expects to achieve them #but she accepts them anyways because she so deeply regrets what she did to eros and has no idea what else she can do.#am i verbalizing this well or have the worms eating my brain reached an irreversible point #also tbf im pretty sure the version i read as a kid didnt include the multiple times psyche tries to kill herself LMAO.#but we're ignoring that because i love the idea that shes just. so aimless and resigned to the tasks #ALSO on eros' side of things #i dont have like proper analysis about it but as a kid i saw eros hiding his face as like. fear?#like. fear that the person he loves will think he's a monster if he reveals his true self. or somethin. which also. i think is very queer #also very beauty and the beast. for obvious reasons since it was based on psyche and eros lmao #oh also. i already mentioned it but psyche and hercules r so similar.#did something unforgivable to a loved one --> given multiple impossible tasks to atone for it etc etc #i dont have any real analysis abt it i dont remember a lot abt hercules tbh but. yah #ALSO. okay i think retellings of hades and persephone where theyre totally in love and stuff r kinda tired.#BUT. in the theoretical adaptation i always imagined a scene where psyche does the last task where she goes to the underworld #and shes tired shes soso tired #and she goes to persephone and persephone is gentle and motherly which aphrodite has Not been to psyche #and i think if persephone is unkidnapped and truly in love w hades #then i think there could be a fun parallel between persephone and psyche in which like. theyre both in love w ppl #who are seen as monsters. and shit. or whatever #anyways. idk what made me think abt this again. Hey y'all! The merry-go-round of doctors* I am on seems to be cycling back around towards an allergist again, and I have a question for y'all because idk how to word this for doctors: How do you word "if it walks like and allergy and quacks like an allergy it's an allergy" to an allergist? Less flippantly, I have allergy symptoms that multiple doctors have said allergies should not be able to cause. Mainly, my first allergy symptom is high blood pressure**, which if left untreated will progress to migraines, stomach issues, and eventually a bad blood pressure crash***. I have been told allergies do not raise blood pressure, but mine is caused by specific foods most of the time and taking a benadryl stops the reaction, so I have no idea what else it could be? But my main food allergy is acetic acid/vinegar, which I have also had multiple doctors tell me it is not possible to be allergic to

*the "you have a problem but not one I can fix try this kind of specialist instead" mobile **130s/80s, not super high, but high for me ***80s/40s

#the person behind the yarn #medical mention #I do sometimes have allergic reactions caused by acute stress or anger #so that's. fun. pretty sure that's MCAS though #but like idk how to convince doctors it's allergies #I know they might not be IgE mediated allergies but still allergies right? if benadryl fixes them?#most people don't get like two day headaches from eating peas?#I do think coconut might be my one true IgE mediated allergy on account of the immediate wheezing when I eat it #but the rest I fully admit are weird #the last allergist wants me to get a blood test DURING an allergic reaction #but I have learned the magic words about that one!#the magic words are: I tested on the very high end of normal tryptase levels when NOT having an allergic reaction #and my main severe allergic reaction symptom is uncontrollable vomiting. which makes it difficult for me to get that bloodwork done #so far I've only said it to like three doctors and every single one was like yes! fair! understandable!

baking never feels more like science to me than when i'm trying to cobble together an intricate multi step recipe together from several different recipes and tutorials online because the recipe I'm imagining doesn't exist....

#genuinely feels like a science experiment making something fancier than a frosted layer cake #have to do all kinds of volume and weight conversions because one recipe is japanese and the other is indian and the other is english lmfao #none of the recipes are probably the exact volume I need so i might have to make some minis with my extra stuff #i have to find a very precise sheet pan size tomorrow for the patterned cake i'm gonna use as the outer bit #otherwise i'll have to make my own from parchment paper??? or tin foil??? man idk.....#i had to write out all of my instructions and ingredient lists so i don't have to go between 6 different websites tomorrow/sat #i had to do research on fucking. gelatine 😭because it's impossible to find gelatine sheets here and they're used in EVERY mousse recipe #and there's apparently a huge debate on what the ACTUAL conversion of sheet gelatine to powdered gelatine is for baking #I also had to type up like an exact order to make each component because most need a significant amount of cooling time #grayson im gonna try my hardest to make you this fancy ass lemon cake and i pray i succeed this time where i failed on my own birthday #2 yrs ago but also i think this will go better bc i'm not doing a jelly insert or a candied mirror glaze #I'm also making my own candied lemons and lemon curd even though i don't have to #mostly because i wanna try doing it and the sheer power of getting to say i made the whole thing from scratch *#minus the actual cake mix because i don't have a good from scratch cake track record and box mixes are so so reliable #and i have too many moving parts to worry about finding a new cake recipe #every fucking cake recipe now is a fucking genoise sponge for SOME REASON #which is NOTORIOUSLY DIFFICULT AND A HUGE PAIN IN THE ASS BECAUSE IT USES NO RISING AGENTS #i want to throttle whoever it was that made online recipe people turn to only using variations of a genoise sponge for their cake recipes #honestly i need to maybe join the baking subreddit and ask for some good old baking/cookbooks with reliable baking recipes #ones that aren't crazy labor intensive for fucks sake i'm not a french patisserie #my stuff #it would be cool to one day have baked enough and have enough know how of how standard baking recipe components work #so i can just come up with my own recipes on my own #and just use whatever flavors i want #i feel like i would enjoy being a baker except if i had to make wedding cakes

I realised once again how bad I am at recognising faces ...

I started watching Charité (a German historical series about the Charité hospital in Berlin) and straight up did not notice that Justus von Dohnányi plays one of the main characters🤦 I don't often keep up with specific actors, but I really like many of his works (there are some films that I discovered only because they were listed in his filmography), and thought I would've probably grown accustomed to his face by now. To be fair in Charité he looks decently different since he has a beard and darker hair than usual (many characters that he played before that I know of were blond, which is also his natural colour I think). Still I wonder how long it would've taken me to realise it was him if I didn't have the show's Wikipedia page open on the side😅
