There’s definitely something odd about Elain’s gifts to Az. I really don’t think that they were just thoughtful, silly little gifts. I think she knows something. A lot of things really, and gave him those ear plugs and that headache powder for a reason.

Sure, they seem funny to everyone else but there’s so much potential for them to be of some special use later on.

We already know Az has kept them both safe. Or at the very least, that headache powder on his nightstand. I’m sure he has the earplugs there too now.

I mean, I don’t know about you, but the correlation between ear plugs and a medicine to soothe headaches feels… off.

It doesn’t help that there’s siren-esc imagery to a certain character in the books.

Ok so I have a theory about the season 1 finale.Crabgrass was mentioned multiple times in the series. I think she is gonna return in this gen.As you might know she was a shapeshifter.Lagoona mentioned that one of her tv shows resembles their school year a lot except for shapeshifters.Clawdeen then dismissed the whole thing and they all looked at each other suspiciously then they laughed.I think this whole thing was foreshadowing Crabgrass's return.She is gonna take someone's place and fool the crew.I also think she'll work with Catarina Stripe and they will try to stop the crew from saving Clawdeen's mom.But I actually have another theory about Crabgrass.I think this Crabgrass and g1 one are the same and she will be the one that connects the two realities together in a crossover.

Right, so I was thinking the other day about how often online people bring up how messed up Animorphs was, or how Warriors was Game of Thrones but with cats, etc.

And I wonder if that's the exact reason those stories stuck with us for so long, even though we hadn't read them since we were children - because they were darker

Like, so much of children's literature is pretty tame, and I think even as a child I'd caught on to the fact that no matter what happened, the characters weren't really in danger, that the good guys will always win, etc.

But, Warriors is not like that at all. Warriors killed characters on screen regardless of whose "side" they were on. And in animorphs, could you even be sure you knew who was "good" and who was "evil"?

I think I can credit those stories for teaching me to love more complicated plots and greyscale morality axis problems, and for my love of story telling as a whole - because they didn't limit themselves to the more "lol this is just for kids" mindset

And I think that, on a greater scale, that's why those stories have stuck with us our whole lives.

sometimes katsuki gets really dramatic (but let’s be fr when isn’t he) and acts like you ghosted him when you don’t respond to his texts in thirty minutes. not in a creepy way, just in a dramatic, needy way.

he’s not worried or anything, he checks his phone every few minutes to see if any texts from you have come in. it’s a force of habit, because you usually respond pretty quickly but after a while it gets a little weird. and then he sends you a text and another one and unconsciously he starts spamming you a bit. again, not in a creepy way. just an annoying needy whiny dramatic baby, way.

“what’s up, bakubro ? you keep checking your phone.” katsuki doesn’t look at kirishima, eyes glued to his phone when he just grunts out an “‘m fine.”

and then kaminari just has to open his big mouth. his voice playful as he speaks “uh oh, trouble in paradiseee~?” katsuki scoffs, telling the blonde to fuck off.

and he isn’t worried..not at all. until he thinks about it and maybe there was trouble in paradise ?? were you maybe ignoring him ? what’d he do ?

you look up from your notebook at the sound of your phone vibrating. oh, it’s katsuki ! you smile just seeing his contact pop up.

“hi, katsu !”

silence, no response. you try again.

“…hello ?”

you hear a scoff from the other end, and some shuffling before your boyfriend graces you with an answer. “look at your phone, you idiot.”

“hello, katsu.” you snort. “yeah, yeah. hi.” you can practically hear the roll of his eyes through the phone, you giggle and your boyfriend huffs through the speaker.

it’s then that you see the wall of texts from him “oh, did you text me ? my bad i was studying.”

there’s a faint sigh of relief “‘s fine.”

“were you worried ?” you tease.

“fuck no. just—“ a sudden pause then katsuki grumbles “answer my texts next time, moron. bye. don’t overdo it while studying or i’ll kill you.”

“meanie !” you giggle, and when he hangs up you send him a text.

we can study together next time, just so you don’t flip out again 💗😚

Shape-shifters, face-blindness, and "paying attention to others"

The shapeshifter is one of my favourite "monster of the week" episodes because it showcases how differently Laios processes social information than the rest of the party. It reminds me a lot of the strategies I, faceblind name-forgetter and eye-contact avoider, use to recognize people and learn things about them.

We see Laios clearly fail at recognizing the doubles through "standard" social cues that are perceived as "easy to tell", such as their clothes. This makes the team (unfairly, but understandably) weary of his ability to tell the fakes apart and even worried that he'd prefer the monster versions* over them. Nonetheless, he gives it a try!

...And is immediately overwhelmed. His lack of attention to social cues works a bit in his favor, though, as it makes it harder for him to fall for stereotypes that fool the rest of the group.

Instead, he chooses to rely on his strengths and use his investigation and animal handling skills to distract the shapeshifters, lure out the monster, and roll the most insane balls-to-the-wall intimidation check of all time.

If it had ended there it still would have been a great episode that showcases Laios' strategic mind and his strengths as a leader. He doesn't have the social skills necessary for the task, but he is clever and creative enough to use the skills he does have proficiency in to solve the problem*.

However, what makes this episode so dear and near to my faceblind heart is the revelation that Laios was able to recognize the real party members after all.

Laios is fantastic representation of how special interests actually work for a monotropic interest system. Having a special interest is not just about how much you like it and the need to know everything about it, it's a way of processing and filtering information. Laios' special interest is monsters: his skills as a dungeoneer and party leader are acquired for and informed by his desire to interact with monsters, as is his interest in eating them. He actually brings this up himself when comparing his interest in cooking to Senshi's.

And in this episode, we see that this also extends to his friends. Laios hacks one of the most difficult types of information for him to process by routing it through the lens of the special interest. And, because it's not something most people would notice, it works. He knows that Chilchuck wouldn't let his guard down around a potential mimic, that Senshi values a balanced ecosystem, that (my favourite) Marcille just isn't as thoughtful about monsters as he is.

It might not be what was expected, but it did the trick! And what's more, the narrative validates his way of thinking (even if Chilchuck doesn't).

last night i remember when the movie eeaao came out i watched it first with my friends, and then i went with my mom and nan. i guess not only did i wanna share the film with them, but i wanted to see my moms reaction, and whether she said anything to me since we have had a rough relationship through the years
