On Canon MCU Ships

It’s always been pretty obvious that Marvel has a heteronormative-shaped elephant in the room when it comes to romances. But I tend to be.. tolerant, I guess.. of certain ones and not others. And I think I finally figured out what it was.

I don’t necessarily enjoy all of them, but I’m ok with the ones like Tony/Pepper (where it had a lot of onscreen time to develop and pepper was an important part of the plot) and Wanda/Vision (where the relationship is essential to both of their characters in the comics, so they made it essential onscreen as well) and Thor/Jane (where Jane was a major part of the Thor legacy in comics and onscreen she never got in the way of the story).

I am, however, completely unforgiving of the ones that introduce a straight-presenting romance just for the sake of having a straight romance.

For example,

There was absolutely no need to pair Bruce and Natasha together in AoU. They were never a thing in the comics, they weren’t central to each other’s stories, they had no romantic build-up in prior movies. It was completely out of the blue and I can’t think of single good reason they did it tbh.

Steve Rogers making out with Sharon Carter was not only gross, but also random and unnecessary. They did have a relationship in the comics, but their connection in the films was flimsy at best and having them get together onscreen after focusing so intensely on Steve’s love for Sharon’s aunt Peggy was… a choice. It didn’t further the story or add to it in any way.

Sylvie is an OC, pure and simple. The creators of the show made her up- she doesn’t even exist in the comics- so there was no prior reason for them to introduce her as a love interest to Loki- they did it because they wanted him to have a relationship with a women. Period. And given that she hindered his characterisation and took story time away from him, there was actually a good incentive not to have her exist as his lover… but y’know. He was a boy, she was girl, can I make it anymore obvious?

If this proves anything, it’s that Marvel is so desperately bought into the whole heteronormative ideal system that they find a way to work a boy-girl romance into literally every. single. plot.

*And btw, by “heteronormative” I don’t just mean like “oh if there’s a romance it has to be straight” No! I mean as in “there HAS to be a romance AND it has to be straight.”

So they’d rather have a weird forced romance between two characters who have zero chemistry than just stick with the romance that isn’t central to the plot. They’d rather have an odd uncomfortable incest-via-time-travel situation than not have a romance at all. They’d rather have the first confirmed queer character engage in selfcest with the only female version of himself than have him paired with a man or no one at all.

It’s exhausting. It’s annoying. It just goes to show that straight culture really does dominate everything and society puts so much emphasis on romance that movie makers even feel like their damn fictional characters aren’t whole and are unfulfilled until they pair them off with someone.

summary - majority of your dreams seem to manifest in the real world somehow, so when you have one about your crush and your best friend...things get a little out of control.

warnings - heavy angst (im sorry), hurt to comfort

a/n: when i started writing for this fandom i PROMISED myself i would not make it all angst and no fun, but oh well :))))) idek where this idea came from, i need help

You woke up from a nap with the sickening urge to empty your stomach overboard. Nausea reared its ugly head, and before you could even try to tame the feeling, you were sprinting to the side of the ship to empty your stomach.

What exactly was the cause?

This would sound insanely ridiculous, and to you it really was, but you had a weird dream. And it didn't sit well with you. Most of the dreams you had often became a reality, albeit with slight changes. There were some that didn't, but almost all of them came true eventually or manifested in a similar way at some point.

And that's probably the reason you couldn't stop yourself from vomiting obscenely before your stunned - and confused - crew.

"(Name), are you okay?" Nami asked worriedly, coming over to you.

You flinched away from her, increasing her confusion, before turning and running off to the bathroom. She exchanged looks with the others who were out on deck - Usopp and Luffy - before shrugging it off and going back to mapping the ship's course.

The truth was, you had a completely unexpected yet maddening dream while napping, one that you prayed to any god who would listen would not come true. You had dreamed of Zoro - the man you had the biggest crush on - and Nami, which may seem an odd coupling and probably was but you couldn't control your dreams. Much like how you couldn't control how you felt about it, despite it only being a fictional idea your mind concocted.

You went straight to yours and Nami's room after cleaning yourself up, setting up the divider that separated your section from hers so you wouldn't have to deal with seeing her if she came in. Your behaviour was unfair to her, since you knew she would never do anything like that, nor did she have any romantic interest in Zoro. In fact, she barely had any interest in the swordsman at all. But according to your dream, that might change.

You curled up on your bed, pulling the blanket right up over your head to shield yourself from the real world. The familiar feeling of something wet running down your cheek informed you that you had started crying, but you couldn't care less. You couldn't move. You didn't have the energy to move, much less bring your hand up to wipe your tears away. So you just lay there, curled up in a foetal position, trying - and miserably failing - to get your mind off it.

A while later, a knock at your door caused you to jerk up in your bed, before you groaned and flopped back down.

"Go away!"

"Nami said you're sick," came Sanji's voice, "So I made you some soup. Please open the door."

You breathed a sigh of relief. It wasn't either of the two people you were currently trying to avoid. Slowly dragging yourself out of bed, you had to make even more effort to get yourself to the door. Forgetting that you had just been crying, you opened it and let the cook in, confused when his expression immediately grew alarmed.

"(Name), why are you crying??" He immediately set the soup down and pulled you into a comforting hug - one that seemed to be much warmer than usual right now.

"I-I'm fine," you mumbled into his shoulder, "Just not well."

He nodded, falling for your excuse, before pulling away to hand you the soup, "Here, this should help. If you need more, or if you need anything else, just let me know." He smiled at you, before leaving you alone once again.

You sat back down on your bed and ate the soup - because who can say no to Sanji's cooking, even if you're not really in the mood to eat? And it did help, the warmth helping to settle your queasy stomach and alleviate the nausea if only a little bit. Minutes after you finished it, there was another knock and you frowned, wondering who it was now.

You didn't answer, in fear of it being Zoro.

Just the thought of Zoro had you replaying that dream all over again, and before you could stop yourself or at least soften the sound, sobs were wracking your body and you were burying your face in your hands, crying into their warmth.

The door opened and a familiar set of heavy footsteps reached your ears before the bed dipped beside you. Your entire body froze up, tensing at the arrival of the green-haired swordsman. Your sobs fell silent, hiccups replacing them as you stilled and tried your best to quell your sadness - still keeping your face hidden.

"What happened?" Came that usually-comforting deep voice you loved so much, but that now caused your nausea to return. "What's wrong, (Name)?"

"Please go away," you found yourself speaking, not wanting to push him away but knowing you'd feel even more ridiculous if he found out how you felt about him while you were recounting a silly dream.

"No."

Usually the swordsman would leave without a word if you asked for space, or if you told him to go away, but this time he could see you were absolutely not okay and you needed someone. Luffy wouldn't be a good idea, Usopp wouldn't know what to do, and you seemed to be avoiding Nami. And he sure as hell did not want that stupid cook anywhere near you right now, in fear of him comforting you so well that the swordsman would lose you to him entirely.

You didn't respond to that, so Zoro brought his hands up to slowly and gently peel yours away from your face. You let him, shocking yourself, and the sight of your bloodshot eyes and tear-stained face caused his heart to constrict painfully.

"Tell me what's wrong."

He held your hands in his own, not wanting to let go. He had waited so long to be able to hold them, and he was glad for this excuse to. But he was heartbroken seeing you so upset and apparently sick over something he didn't know about yet. He gently squeezed your hands, silently encouraging you to speak. He wasn't good with words, but if comfort was what you needed he would do and say whatever he could to make your pain go away.

"It's you and Nami."

He stiffened. He didn't know what that meant, but just hearing he was part of the reason you were so upset made his heart sink.

"What did we do?"

"It's...um...it's silly," you replied quietly, voice low but pain still evident. "It doesn't matter." You tried pulling your hands away, but Zoro only gripped them tighter.

"It does, if it's making you this upset."

Reluctantly, you relayed to him what you had dreamed about, voice cracking halfway through as more tears fell. You felt even sillier saying it to someone else, especially him, and avoided making eye-contact throughout the entire explanation. When you finished, you shot him a small, brief glance - only to do a double take when you saw the absolutely horrified and disgusted look on his face.

"Me and the thief?" He questioned, distaste clear in his tone. "You've got to be kidding me." He sighed, sneakily shifting closer to you on the bed. "That can't be possible."

"But-"

"Some of your dreams don't come true," he reminded you, "This is definitely one of those. You want to know how I know?"

You nodded slowly, biting your lip.

You did not expect his next words.

"Because I already dream about doing that with you."

Your jaw dropped. If you were like Luffy, it would have probably dropped all the way to the floor, you were so stunned by his confession. Your formerly slowed heartbeat picked up speed again, heat filling your cheeks as you processed his words.

"Me?"

"Mhm. Only you. Been a recurring dream, actually."

As you stuttered out an incomplete sentence and then stammered through some nonsense, Zoro leaned in slowly and pressed his lips against yours, locking you in a slow but sweet kiss. His lips were warm and soft, inviting you to lean into him and return the kiss. The affectionate gesture had butterflies blooming in your stomach.

"I'm sorry," you whispered once you remembered how to speak.

"There's nothing to be sorry for," he murmured, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead before pulling you into a warm, comforting and secure embrace.

You sat like that quietly for a while, Zoro rubbing soothing circles onto your back while you clung to him, face buried in his neck. He kissed the top of your head every few minutes, in between mumbling sweet words of comfort into your ear - mainly "you're beautiful" and "i'm yours" because he didn't know what else to say. But it was enough for you.

Eventually, he spoke up.

"You should clear things up with Nami. She's upset because you're not talking to her."

"I know...later."

He chuckled and tightened his grip on you, keeping you warm and increasingly happy in his strong arms. He didn't intend on letting go, but that was good because you didn't want him to.

BONUS:

"STUPID MOSSHEAD!"

Loud banging and clanging jerked you awake the morning after your confessions, the sound of Sanji's loud exclamation having woken you - but not Zoro - up. He probably had woken up the others as well.

You tried to get up to see what was wrong, but Zoro refused to let go. He was still sleeping, but his arms wound around you even tighter, pulling you back against him. You sighed, knowing you could ask someone else later anyway.

Nami poked her head around the divider and smirked, "He's upset that Zoro finally confessed and ruined his chance to woo you."

You laughed at that, "Give him an hour, max. Then he'll try to woo you."

She groaned, "I'm already dreading it."

The two of you laughed, and it felt good to be back on speaking terms with her. Even though, strictly speaking, you hadn't had a reason not to be in the first place. But oh well.

It is a good day to live and breathe like any normal person.

The weather is actually nice, a little cloudy with a nice touch of spring air, the skies are bluer than Taylor Swift's eyes and said singer's song titled 'The Man' is blasting through your earphones. You feel vigorous, your pristine white uniform for your medical course gives you a certain glow. Your classes went well, acing all of the assessments without much studying done, oh, truly a lucky day for you.

Then all hell breaks loose when your lovely friend, Felix, spills the tea during lunch at the cafeteria, his thick aussie accent that you usually love screeched like a racing car's tire in your ears.

"I heard that Kim Hongjoong of the music department has a crush on you."

"What the fuck?"

He held his hands up, explaining that he heard it while passing by their building. The way people narrated the 'girl' sounds exactly like you, and you couldn't help but roll your eyes at the information as Felix lists out the descriptions that caught his ears.

'She's from the Allied of Health and Sciences department.'

'She's really intelligent and kind, well, that's what the professors had said.'

'A fluent speaker! Shy at times but really bubbly with her friends.'

"I did say that I want some spice in my boring college life but not like this!" you exclaimed, stabbing a kimchi with your fork and aggressively eating it, the spice further heating your head up.

"Not like what?" just then, your other friend Lily, sat down beside you with her own tray of food.

"Felix here is spreading some fake news, he said that someone named Kim Hongjoong has a crush on me." you explained, side eyeing the freckled man before continuing to eat the remainder of your lunch.

"Oh yeah, he does. Some people are already shipping you together."

Then you choked at Lily's nonchalant reply, making her grimace and pat your back as an attempt to soothe your burning pharynx.

You did not expect her to agree at all, and you made sure to tell her that with the way you glared at her.

"He's not that bad, yes he is a music major like Hee-" you stare at her hard, not wanting to hear that specific name. Lily clears her throat and rephrases her sentence, "It is true that he is a music major, but you don't have to lump them all in one category. He's nice, my cousin knows him."

Felix nods, gulping his food before speaking, "Plus, it's just a crush. It's not like he's gonna court you all of a sudden."

They have a point, you don't have to make a big deal out of it. Besides, it's a rumor, most of the time it's plain bullshit.

You need to calm down. You're having a great day, a great start of the semester and you'll be damned if it'll be ruined this early.

Then the students at the library squealed like dying squirrels when they saw you enter. The other music majors at the university gates gave you a wink, hell, even one of the freshmen congratulated you and even said, 'You and Hongjoong-hyung will look good together!'

You mustered a smile throughout the ordeals, opting to finish the day peacefully like how you started it. Whatever happened today shall pass.

Well.. it should be but then you find yourself stalking the man's social media. You have already found his facebook, twitter, instagram, even his fucking youtube account (he has uploaded some guitar covers and you have to admit he's great at playing the instrument.)

You could defend yourself and blame curiosity later, but now, you'll indulge in some information that you could find on the internet. Surely you haven't seen him before, his face is unfamiliar, heck, you don't even know his name, not until your friends brought it up today.

Kim Hongjoong. A music major born on November 7, plays a lot of musical instruments, can write lyrics and is also a good producer. He sings, raps and dances (he was tagged in a dance cover on instagram, courtesy of someone named Park Seonghwa.) A passionate one in his career you assume as you watch one of his vlogs on facebook. You also listened to his recordings posted in his accounts, and you have to give him applause for his aesthetic instagram account.

He takes nice photos of his surroundings, even himself, and he does know how to make himself look good. He definitely knows the colors that suit him, outfits that make him stand out yet fully blended in the crowd if he wanted to. His hair is also unique, seems healthy despite the dyes that had stayed there for months before being layered by another one.

You lie on your bed, thinking that maybe the man himself isn't that bad. That you may have judged him early prior to knowing him. A fault on your part but it's not like you're going to meet or get to know him or the likes, you were simply curious about him and now that you have seen that his surface isn't dry nor rotten, your curiosity shall now die before the cat inside you does... and it's 3 in the fucking morning and you have 7 am classes so really, you'll still die either way.

What you did not expect though, as you wake up at 6:00 am, getting ready with max speed, was a notification that had you stumbling over your feet.

'Hongstagram has followed you back!'

Follow you back what? Since when did you follow him on his instagram?

You were careful! Very careful in what you were clicking and all that shit, not wanting to leave a trace of your visit in his social media accounts but you were so fucking wrong. You could blame the fuzzy feeling of drowsiness but you were so sure that you didn't click anything out of the ordinary.

Fuck your life.

That was your motto all day long, going as far as being dramatic with your friends during lunch break. Rambling about how he'll think you're a creep for stalking him or, or, how he'll think that you're interested in him when you swear to every rat out there that you're most certainly not.

It was horrible, except for the fact that you gotta eat coffee jelly for dinner because your father bought tons during a sale in the grocery and he couldn't resist his sweet tooth ass to buy some desserts.

Maybe you can sleep all of this away, yes, one night of beauty sleep will rejuvenate all of your worries except when Kim Hongjoong himself messaged you.

You jumped up from your bed when you accidentally tapped the notification on the upper half of your phone, due to your persistent tapping all over the screen because fuck that chop chop filter in tiktok (you're pretty sure you can cut that cucumber up to 200), opening the message and you contemplated whether to left it on read or be polite enough to reply.

You chose the latter, not really wanting for your name to be tarnished if this Hongjoong guy goes around and says that you're a snob.

Hongstagram: Hey Y/N! Sorry to disturb you, but may I talk to you tomorrow?

You: Good evening Hongjoong! I'm sorry my sched is kind of packed tomorrow, you can tell it now though.

Hongstagram: It's kind of embarrassing to say it through dms.

Oh my god. No fucking way. He's gonna confess.

Hongstagram: But okay, here goes nothing.

Hongstagram: I heard that you're one of the best students, so, could I borrow your notes for History? I've been meaning to ask you this for a while now because Mr. Lee talks about you every time he's in class and tbh, I couldn't care less about the minor subject. But still, I need to pass it in order to advance soo..

He was yapping so hard and you're ridiculing him inside your head but, the guy needs help and you're not some kind of witch with a stone heart. So you, being the kindest soul out there, decided to help him out.

You agreed to give him your notes and print-outs, but you didn't reply to him when he sent you a time and place for the meet-up.

Imagine his surprise when you arrived at the said café, on time and with a big, thick envelope in your hands, sitting in front of him without any trace of hesitance.

"Hi." you greeted him calmly, offering a handshake which he accepted with a smile, "Y/N here. Nice meeting you Hongjoong."

"Likewise. Thank you for entertaining my request." he replied, short but enthusiastic nonetheless.

Still, the awkward air is suffocating you and thank god the coffee and pastries can provide you some distraction because you truly cannot do this without going crazy.

Whatever confidence you had before was some kind of fallacy because you're a nervous wreck in front of this man. You're suddenly hit by the realization that this is the same guy that was rumored to have a crush on you and now you're sitting in this coffee shop with him, alone.

If someone from your university sees you two, that will surely cause a ruckus and your friends will probably bombard you with questions.

"Thank you for this, by the way." Hongjoong speaks up and it brings you back to reality, this time, you took a moment to take him in.

He really is fashionable, you'll give him that. His previously pink hair had turned into burgundy, he pairs his denims with leather better than anybody, and his color scheme for today is on point.

"You're most certainly welcome, I-"

"Listen, I know you know the rumors."

He cuts you off, rude. But he's getting straightforward now, nice.

Then you held a breath, is he actually confessing? If he did, how should you react? How should you answer?

You gulped, your palms getting sweaty and you couldn't help the tiny bit of excitement that coursed through your veins.

Your first ever confession after your dark, thunderous days of romance.

"Yes, I heard about it." you answered truthfully, giving him a small smile which he purposely avoided. This baffled you, shouldn't he be happy that you're giving him the time of your day?

"I'm sorry for the inconvenience but my friends are idiots. It's not you that I like." he admits, biting his lower lip and cautiously peers over your confused form.

You almost sputtered your coffee out, the sweetness of your iced hazelnut compensates well to the bitterness that was starting to spread out.

You faked a cough, sporting a feigned understanding countenance before asking for more elaboration, "If not me, then who is?"

He beams at you giddily and his answer almost made you want to leave.. almost.

"It's your friend, the cute one that you always help out during 21st Century Literature, Sakura."

critical role: by someone that hasn’t seen any of it

hi so we recently got into dimension 20 and our friends have been tugging us towards critical role for a very long time at this point but we still haven’t watched any of it nor do we know all that much about anything that actually happens in it. however we do intend to actually start watching soon so we decided it was the perfect opportunity to make one of those ‘all the things i know about this thing i haven’t watched’ posts, show it to our critrole friends, and then actually get into critrole and be able to look back and laugh about it later

quite obviously, lol! this story just has a special place in my heart, for the fact that i‘ve had the ground idea for so long, all the details that went into it that for most part probably even went unnoticed to the readers but were so important for me personally, the planning of things, the way i had like a list of the details and easter eggs and everything. also, the name (not to toot my own horn) but i truly had the biggest *oooohhh!!!* moment when i found this title for the story and it just fit so so perfectly. the vibe when i wrote it. yeah, just a lot of love. also it‘s my most „hit“ fic i‘ve ever written and wow, i would have never ever imagined to get this reaction to my writing, ever. like i saw the fics from other brilliant amazing writers in the fandom that‘d get 1-3k kudos and i was like what the hell, that‘s crazy much. and then wotw hit +1k kudos and i was (still am) mindblown by that because imagine 1k people irl telling you they love what you wrote? insane. and all your guys comments and asks and i‘ve gotten some of the greatest comments eeeveron this fic, like, just wow. i write for myself because i just have these ideas and words and stories in my head that i need to get out and one day decided to upload because i thought maybe a few people would perhaps like it, have a little joy with it, but of course validation is always amazing and nice, so this reception is mindblowing for me. also i now kind of wish i could rewrite some parts of the story, do some plots more or different or just write differently, but i always hate kinda hate my fics after a while and think i could have done better. but still, so much love for this fic <3

[2] friday night; i‘m in love

just for the vibe of this fic, it‘s my second fave :)) i remember i had such a good time writing this—it was the first time i went to a park to write and i stayed in that park for hours and just…wrote. this fic. and the song makes up the whole vibe of that time of that summer when i wrote this, so. just vibey. reminds me of good times but also somehow bad times. i got a comment that said „so this is what loneliness feels like“ and for someone reason that has stuck with me a hell of a lot.

this is not f1 but motogp, which is a rather little fandom on ao3 and at times idk what possessed me to write this, but, for some reason i do like it? idek. i don‘t even ‚ship‘ rosquez because oh my god, what a fucking mess that „relationship“ or well, that whole..thing..is. but that‘s somehow exactly what i love about them because fuck me that shit hurts and i lived through the split of worlds!! 2015 sepang. the press conference before? marc’s face? i wanna crumple like a leaf in the wind and to be carried away by them so fast that not even any fleeting emotions would ever graze me again. the coldness of 2016. 2018 argentina?? bro what a time to be alive (not!!). you need to know the whole rosquez lore to understand because my god. it hurts too good. literally as of this week’s events…imagine your childhood idol and absolute hero and later friend and now arch-nemesis still going on podcasts t.e.n. years later and still shit-talking you into the ground about how you’re the worst person to have ever lived and the worst thing to happen to this sport and entire nations hate you and and and!! well, ANYWAY, back to it: i don‘t remember the whole thing anymore actually. but still third! byee (fun fact: i have a rosquez playlist that literally consists of songs to scream in the car in anger and heartbreak, and it‘s my kinda therapy oops. as you can see, i am very invested in them still)

Hello! And welcome to my The Pitt Star Trek AU :)  This is Part Two. 

In this part I shall try to figure out the Star Trek Universe races for all the main (and maybe some important background) characters, as well as their ranks. As a reminder – The Pitt is officially known as USS Pittsburg. It’s an old boat, that should probably be decommissioned, but uh. Captain Robby served on her under Captain Adamson and he’s not ready to let her go yet. The Pitt is falling apart a little, but her crew patches her up enough to let her pass tests and examinations at the spacedocs. 

Also, someone in the admiralty must dislike Robby, because they often send The Pitt on shitty assignments and all the damage sustained during those assignments doesn’t help her condition either. 

Anyway. Let’s get to the chase. 

Captain Michael "Robby" Robinavitch is a human in my mind. I’ll gladly accept constructive crit on that, though. As I will for all the other characters ;) Bring it! 

Commander Heather Collins formerly a science officer, now the ship’s 2IC, is Bajoran. 

Lt. Commander Frank Langdon navigator and pilot, as well as the ships 3IC (as suggested by lovely @magnetic-rose , thank you) is... well that one I can’t quite decide. He could be human, I guess. Although I’m tempted to give him some sort of weird Illyrian or El-Aurian provenance. IDK. 

Lt. Commander Yolanda Garcia (should have a different name) is IMO, of one of the more aggressive races (or part of that race, actually). IDK, half-Klingon, half-Romulan, half-Cardassian even... Oh! I know! She’s half-Cardassian, half-Bajoran, raised on Bajor, but her Cardassian genes make her act up. I had her pegged as the ships second pilot, but now (after the 4th episode) I think she’d be better suited as the tactical officer. 

Doctor Lieutenant Samira Mohan the ship's very capable doctor, strikes me as Vulcan. 

Kiara Alfaro is a civilian counselor and a human. 

Lieutenant Cassie McKay the Chief Engineer of The Pitt I’d rather see as human as well... 

Petty Officer 1st Class Mateo Diaz(?) ...but her assistant could be, say, Orion. Or. It could be the other way around. Or, some other race. Let me remind you, I’ll appreciate any (well, most) suggestions. 

Lieutenant Melissa King I'm-- Yeah, I don’t think I’ll want to change that one, though. ;) Mel, the communications officer feels like Trill to me. I’m just not sure what would be the Symbiont’s name, and what would be the name of the before-the-Symbiosis Trill. But I’ll figure it out.  

Ensign Trinity Santos she was slated as the tactical officer, but with Garcia stepping up to that position (it makes more sense to not have a fresh-out-of-Academy Ensign as weapons specialist), Santos would be Garcia’s protege coming onboard. I thought she could be a Romulan (depending on the time period where my story would take place; if I’m not mistaken Romulans were in alliance with Starfleet at some point? I may be wrong, of course, so feel free to correct me), but with Garcia advancing to the main cast, Santos could be Cardassian, or Cardassian-Bajoran too. 

Master Chief Petty Officer Dana Evans the supply officer could be human. Or Lanthanite, I guess. I love that sense of her being something more, some larger presence onboard The Pitt, extending way beyond. Other than her being a thousand years old, she might instead be a Betazoid. 

Cadet Dennis Whitaker and Cadet Victoria Javadi feel like humans. For now, at least. Oh, Javadi’s parents (as—again—suggested by @magnetic-rose) are both Admirals. 

All the nurses, Perlah, Princess, Jesse, Donnie, IDEK, should also be humans, I think. Because, after all, The Pitt hails from Earth. Unless she doesn’t. 

I’m beginning to have the barest bones of the fic plot, so watch this space for updates. :)

We Are Ep.2 thoughts in chronological order

what peem did in the car trying to convince phum to part their ways is what the youth calls ✨a yap sesh✨ (he tried ig) (this is what this post is as well)

we're probably never seeing phum use those things he bought ever, he'll just keep hanging around in his engineer shirt

peem has so many ppl ready to square up for him including his auntie and he is recognised by tan as someone who loves his friends very much (which makes the fact tan has sold him away for time with his crush TWICE even worse lmao)

i don't really get phum's insistence on not telling anyone about being phum's "slave", not even tan who got him into the mess or his best friend but it's just his ego ig (aside from plot reasons)

i find pun more relatable now - tags along for the funsies and gets happy around fire

not convinced the beans and pork scene wasn't an ad but im not sure how cause i didn't clock any labels

the scene where peem brings in food and laughs with q feels like improv or breaking left in lol

fai missing cause of upset stomach might be some sort of foreshadowing and i'm a bit worried bout her

the professor is handsome <3 and could pas off as chimon's sibling in a show

q absorbing those noodles was very satisfying idek why lol

peem and q's friendship is in the background but the show still constantly makes it a point that they are really good and loyal best friends

i thought "oh theyre gonna make the sharing food a thing in the future" so when boys showed up i was like "ah, we're doing it immediately? bit boring" but then he didn't share!! joey never shares food!! i think he will in the future though, him being a foodie is a constant thing so i'm guessing we're using it as a sign of compromise in the name of love or smth

satang playing this type of character felt a bit much in the first episode but i think he's getting more comfortable with the role as the show progresses and it look more natural; i'm glad his character isn't the googly eyed mentee and he actually teases a lot and snaps back but knows when to stop playing because q isn't the most patient person. (matt having to jump in like "bro he's serious" was so funny cause i hadn't clocked that either hahah)

the way we can see q flustered at certain points but seemingly unbothered at others is fun because his reactions aren't entirely predictable at this stage as we're still getting to know him. also it's mad cute when he clearly doesn't know what to do with himself

idk how he hasn't asked toey bout why he's in art yet, ig they're just now starting to properly get to know each other

toey took one look at q's back and decided "that's a cool ass aura to base my entire future around!" and tbh that's very young adult of him

q regularly asking about peem's work being submitted, he's honestyly worried <3

the way i cheered for peem burping in phum's face and then went "oh he came back :(" bahah

phum is definitely already planning his day and schedule around peem, i don't think he'd ever tell his friends because he wants to actually keep it going so one of the reasons is to not run into his faculty friends including tan and the second is to have lunch with his unconscious crush AND I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THIS STUPIDITY

thought peem could overhear the convo behind the car and realise what he was exchanged for but nope, he just dipped; i think that might be a plot point for later

phum not knowing tan has a crush on fang is so weird cause he genuinely acted like he knew while taunting tan, i don't have an explanation for that

fang is their p'!! i was so conviced he was the little brother, ig because of his big round eyes and the way phum acted all protective (that just makes phum cuter tbh)

what is the age difference between bar owner and prof cause i ship it

it took me a bit to realise the nongs were there instead of the full arts gang and i was glad to see toey and q together (also the green sweater is beautiful on toey, hope it makes a comeback)

i was ready to believe fang had some sort of falling out with tan with the way he treated him but tan beaming and enjoying a dreadful setting (no talking, awkward sitting around in a bar with mid music and alcohol) shows that man is glowing just from being in fang's presence (i hope he reaches ridiculous levels of lame for him)

i was screeching when i realised where things were going with wasted peem and seeing him n the bench outside had me exctaticcc (ofc he didnt book a taxi. and ofc they cant just order one for him noww could they)

phum cockblocks but he kinda has to cause there's no reason for fang to be there otherwise; once the ridiculous proposition of him taking peem home comes up he doesn't really fight it at all - he wants to be with peem, sure, but i think he's also pretty okay with tan and fang being a thing

the way i was screaming "just buy the flowers rich boy!!! he wants to go home" and then the kid went to get more lol

ofc he couldnt just leave the flowers in the backseat, peem just has to have them in his lap.. and the seatbelt scene was so predictable but it's too much of a classic with all "figuring things out" parts of a romance that i can't complain

it makes absolutely zero sense aside from people liking people (cause fang knows what he's doing too) that phum would drive peem to his house - a place where tan has sleepovers at all the time and phum hasn't been to before. fang is his brother and they can sleep at the same place as well even if they don't live together but nope. also THAT CAR HAS EMPTY BACKSEATS, if phum wanted to he would've forced them to ride with him to keep an eye on tan

fang is probably planning to launch a big revenge attack on peem and that'd be so funny, those four can get way too entangled, i could get DRAMA out of their plans and schemes (this show is more hidden agenda than hidden agenda was)

tan's energy with fang reminds me of the duracell bunny lmao it's late at night and they've had a few drinks but his mind and body are all focusedon wooing fang (who is playing nonchalant but has probably had a crush on tan as well)

also no way he was just gonna leave tan on the street lol

toey and q aleady work so well together, toey knows his effect on q more or less and q doesn't shy away from being at least a bit vulnerable as of rn; i think they can be one of the best if not the best couple if they have a proper storyline; im certainly enjoying it the more than i thought i would

the fake blush on both toey and peem is ridiculous esp up close but ig they're cartoonishly drnk anyways

auntie took note and now doesn't do facemasks at night, otherwise it would've been an amazing first meeting

JFDJDHSN trust i will ALWAYS be researching please it’s like my favorite thing i always put my heart and soul into it 😭 even more light hearted fics i try to give a little thought to!! like for otoya’s bfb i actually looked up pictures of bakeries and their window displays so that i could describe the bakery accurately…i think it helps that i travel a lot though?? like it gives me ideas and general senses for WHAT to research/what cultural differences are generally prevalent if that makes sense 🤔 even in like the one kaiser fic where he’s an angel i used the story of castel st angelo as inspiration because i’ve visited it!! and then a lot of the settings are also places i’ve seen myself so i knew what i wanted to reference (like the church the two meet in is the capelle medicee in florence and the place where reader dies is st peter’s basilica!! i even used the inscription on the dome of the basilica in the fic but with the words changed slightly) and i do think that makes it easier than having the entire internet at my fingertips but not knowing what to search up

sometimes it feels like they just ship nagireo because it’s the most heavily implied and reo likes nagi not because they actually like nagi OR the dynamic that nagireo has?? which like tbh me too BUT that’s why i don’t ship it 😭 people need to bring back rare pairs like it’s okay to ship reo with someone you think he’d be better with even if they don’t interact much ☝🏻 i’ve seen shidou and reo a lot…saw a rin and reo edit yesterday and people were CRAZY in the comments it was so funny everyone was hating and i was like “it’s really just not that deep if they like it they like it honestly i bet that would be a funny dynamic”

the pegasi are all real colors yes!! they’re based on thoroughbreds (the breed) since i took inspiration from thoroughbred racing for pegasi racing (my horse i used to have was a thoroughbred that used to race so i know a lot abt the industry KFDJDJ) so all of them are colors that thoroughbreds can theoretically be (that’s why they’re all relatively normal colors…palominos are rare for thoroughbreds and same with flaxen chestnuts [reader’s pegasi’s coloring] but it’s still possible so i let it slide) for like realism’s sake LMAOO and all of the wings are based on bird wings!! otoya’s would probably have wings like a dove whereas yuki’s would probably have wings like a grackle and karasu’s would be like a crow’s (ofc)

aiku really subscribes to that “99% of gamblers quit before they win big” mentality LFJDJS LMAO WAIT HE CANONICALLY BETS ON HORSE RACES RIGHT??? i’m going to make him an npc in the pegasi au solely so he can gamble HAHAHAHA omg tinker bell aiku this is a new level to the oaeu it’s lowkey funny because he has the green and everything too 😭 but i do think it’s a common trope especially in non canon duos where the “traumatized” character is magically fixed by the power of love and the other character just being super perfect?? and especially with a pair like nagi and aiku it would’ve been super super easy to fall into that where aiku is so perfect and mature and wise that he manages to make nagi into a well adjusted human who has normal motivations and plays soccer and whatnot but i wanted to show that while nagi may have been better off with aiku than in canon he still would have issues no matter what because aiku is also just another guy not an actual substitute for parental love and guidance ykwim (since imo that’s the root of all of nagi’s issues)

sometimes the fan service and marketing get to the best of us 😓 i do think it’s easier in prose form vs manga/anime to show that depth though?? like in polar we got to hear nagi’s every thought and although a lot of their dynamic WAS revealed through their physical interactions and whatnot having those thoughts was definitely helpful in developing the complexity of their relationship!! although with visual storytelling there’s a lot of subtleties with body language that can be utilized as substitutes for internal narration so it’s definitely POSSIBLE just tricky and sometimes hard to do when the animation isn’t top notch

KDFHDHS NOT THE MIRA GLAZING PLS 😭 i appreciate it though!! pacing is def smth tricky to balance and everyone also has different preferences for what they prefer but i think as long as you’re confident in your work and write well pacing does come pretty naturally?? at least for me i just try to think of the main scenes i NEED to happen in the story (so like with polar i NEEDED aiku to meet nagi, nagi to go to aiku’s school and play soccer with him, aiku and nagi’s friendship to be shown, aiku and nagi to join the u20s, nagi to clash with sae and shidou, and nagi to finally take initiative at the end and be the one to win the game against bllk) and then let the connections between those main beats to flow naturally as i write based on the established characterizations from canon and what i need for the plot to make sense (for example the scene with the teacher, the entire tryout scene, the scene where aiku throws out nagi’s jellies, the beef with sendou, the sae/nagi dynamic, and the advice + connection with shidou, and pretty much everything else were all improv that came to me as i worked) which i think makes the pacing feel more natural maybe

wait also speaking of mira glazing someone commented on the instrument (in their bookmarks) that they could write an essay on the symbolic connection it has to a german arthouse film i was like damn i feel like this is lowkey a peak compliment

What is something you recently felt proud of in regard to your writing (finished a fic, actually planned for once, etc). Oh hmmmm!

I GOT AN ASK TELLING ME I WAS SOMEONES FAVORITE MERLIN FIC WRITER!???? AND YOU talked to me about loving my fics so much!????? I'm also kinda proud because I think I might be nailing the side characters in my lastest longfic. I think I have their personalities and diouluge down pretty well even if they are not POV characters. And since the longfic is gonna include lots of cannon side characters due to the nature of it's story that's gotta be a good thing! What is a headcanon you have about your own work? Gwen's Mom died to disease around the time Morgana's father did. It was one reason they bonded. Not sure if it's really a headcannon because it is actually mentioned. Modern Arthur once he returns is a chocloholic. Again not sure if that counts as headcannon. Most of my headcannons are mentioned because they tend to come as I am writing. One that is not exactly explicitly mentioned in depth is that Gwen being with Morgana helps her not go down the dark path or to turn from it some some of my cannon AU worlds. Morgana doesn't feel so alone and feels like she has someone who is hers. (besides a possible sister)

Name one of your fave comfort fics (doesn’t have to be your all time fave). The ones that come to mind are not actually mine. Do I need to pick one of mine? Ok first thing to know is I'm weird. Whump comforts me. I dunno why but it does. (perhaps because some of the things that happened in the past, perhaps how my brain works IDEK) So some of my comfort fics are actually hurt/confort/whump. here is one If we are NOT talking whump I am a huge fan of these two They are the first Merlin fics I read and the ones that made me notice merthur worked perfectly and ship it. (Then I went back and watched the show like "OMG HOW WAS I BLIND TO THIS!") If I have to pick one of mine I would say that any of my fics that are hurt/comfort/whump with plot (instead of Plot with Hurt/Confort/Whump) So any of my fics that are under 40K Tend to be a comfort to write? I get less anxiety with them. I would not give up the plot focused longfic ones for the world though.

I have! I remember owning three! Or two? I owned them when I was little and at separate times. Imma talk about them

•First was Nemo, a goldfish. Died when I went to change his tank water…I was holding onto the handle of the shitty cheap tank and it broke…fish fell onto carpet floor. It got buried in the compost and I still feel so fricking horrible for not saving him while he flopped on the floor

•I vaguely remember owning a third one…it might have been a minnow? Some small thin fish. I don’t remember much of it though other than it being colorful? Blue?? Idek if he existed oh well

•Last I think was a beta fish? But I named it Rocket because of its big red tail that swirled like the flames of a rocket ship. It lived the longest and I loved him as well…he died naturally.

is it any surprise i'm going to say jegulus? they're just so. idk how to describe all my feelings on jegulus. i could write whole essays on them. but they're so comforting to me! i can write them so easily because they just make sense to me, they resonate with me. and i am a jegulus variant (just saying) so writing both of them is so fun for me because it's like... a little piece of me! if you've ever read my depictions of james or regulus you are likely at least partially reading my depictions of myself. and just, writing the appreciation they have for each other in all their differences is really comforting to me. so which is my favorite jegulus work? stop that's so hardddddd. my favorite probably will be r&rfaf but they haven't been written yet! so! tbh i think i’m gonna have to say our song. they’re so cute and happy and fluffy and i wrote bits and pieces based off my southern family which makes me happy so yeah. but i’m also a whore for angst sometimes and in those cases suicide in your arms (would’ve been easier) jegulus are so. they break me. in a good??? way.

idek if there are others who like tvc and epic at the same time but the vision is basically something along the lines of 😭 ancient roman guy (marius) and even more ancient greek guy (poseidon) who are so stubborn in a philosophy (as products of the times they were born and raised in) imprinted onto them all their lives (poseidons "ruthlessness" & marius "[roman] rationality"... and oh hey, they both start with an r!) that it causes like half of their problems but they just cant let go of it because thats all they have and they have no idea how to live without it despite everything that happens because of it

these two can either bring out the worst (both enabling eachothers stagnancy and although they find solace in their similarities theyre still gonna be soaking in their own misery for centuries probably) or best (both lock in together and although they find solace in their negative similarities they in each other they decide neither can stay like that forever) in eachother it just depends on which one youd like to indulge yourself in i think!
