Sometimes I imagine what my book would look like as a TV series, and I think my favorite part to think about is the costuming. It's all going to be traditional outfits from each of the nations, so like hanbok from Korea and geles/ichafus and wrapper skirts from Nigeria and saris from India. And I just feel like it would be nice to see in a fantasy setting cause we don't really get that mix of real world-derivatives of cultures with the lands and settings of fictional worlds. Like with GRRMs GoT, you can tell that it's a vaguely western European medievalish setting (maybe its not, I haven't seen the show) or even with the Witcher or The Grisha Trilogy, it's clear that they're loosely or directly inspired by different actual cultures. One thing I've never seen tho is that there will be different cultures from totally different regions all in the same place. I think that's what I'm trying to get at.

What I want is to see those cultures all next to each other, is what I'm saying. Fantasy but it's not just one group, it's multiple. Korean, Nigerian, and Indian traditional clothing is all incredibly colorful, and the silhouettes are very different from typical medieval high fantasy. you get to see characters move differently, hold themselves differently, etc, etc etc. It's something that I really want to see

I throughly enjoyed doing this series! When I initially started (with the drawing on the right) I wanted to do something special for Nigerian Independence Day. Instead of searching countless hours for the perfect picture (or recycling an image lol) I decided to make my own. Then it became a series. Our crowns (head wraps) are regal, signify strength, and power. In Igbo it is called "Ichafu". In Yoruba it is called "Gele". And I wanted these drawings to represent all those qualities. I added the touch of gold and sparkle from Photoshop because after all we are made of magic. "(Our geles/ichafus) remind us that we are queens..." 👑 these elaborate headpieces/headscarves are not only gorgeous and elaborate in nature, but are symbolic as well! Each drawing in my #GeleIchafuSeries striked stuning poses and gave a off regalness. The gele shown in this picture was one that my grandmother made for my mother back in 2009. "Our geles and ichafus are like our crowns..." 👑💚 Part I of my "Ichafu, Gele Series" story/African Visual Takeover. "Gele" Yoruba for Scarf, "Ichafu" Igbo for scarf. Two ethnic groups found in Nigeria. These are typically made of stiff fabric that can literally be molded into any shape you want! It is truly a conversation piece and reminiscent of a crown. These are not your average headscraves and is a work of art on it's own. This is a tribute to artisians that mold headpieces fit for a queen. 💛💜💚GET READY! I'll be sharing some of my African (Nigerian) inspired visuals on this page! Issa takeover! . . . 👑👑👑 So here's the background story....Two years ago, I traveled to Nigeria for my grandmother's homegoing service. Although it was a very difficult time, I also captured some stunning visuals while I was there. It was my way to cope throughout my trip. My family celebrated her life and her legacy, as Africans do when a loved one leaves this earth 🙏. Also there's something about stepping foot on the soils of an African country that makes you feel welcomed and at home. Granted everything is not wonderful and rosey, but you cannot deny the spirit, the vibrance, and the energy, that runs through the veins of the Motherland. It also inspired my "Ichafu, Gele Series" (as seen in the photo above), which I intend to expand with other African countries.
