'the next station is . . . shinjuku.'
I was busy icing the bruises on my forearm from last night’s race when my best friend barged into the bathroom without knocking.
“HE’S COMING TODAY, N/N!” he screamed, and giggled like a school girl.
“I could’ve been naked, you know,” I muttered, shutting the first-aid box and shoving it into the cabinet under the sink. “who’s coming?”
“ignis-”
“percy, come on, not this again,” I groaned. “you’ve been fanboying about him for the past 48 hours, and I really just want to sleep. and besides, I really don’t see what the big deal about this guy is.”
“uh, hello? he’s the king of the shibuya street races!” percy exclaimed, following me as I walk out, and flop onto my bed. he stops at the foot of it.
“and the people have crowned me the queen of shinjuku’s. so what?” I asked.
‘ignis’, as the others call him, is someone called leo valdez. and apparently, he’s a pretty good racer.
“look,” I continued, interrupting percy before he started fanboying again, with hearts in his eyes or whatever. “if he’s that good, he can come and beat me at the annual tokyo races.” I declared.
“oh yeah, he probably will,” percy commented. I flung my pillow at his head, and smirked when I found I didn’t miss. “OW!”
“whatever. tell me more about him. what’s he like?”
it was almost as if I asked him to marry leo. and this time, he really did have hearts in his eyes, I fear.
“okay, so supposedly, he builds his own car, like you, and started racing at 17! isn’t that cool? I mean, you did too, but still. it’s cooler when he does it. anyway, he’s locally the undefeated champion of street racing, and oh my god, he drives a 1966 ford gt40, it’s so cool-”
“okayyy, i’ve heard enough. I guess it is going to be fun meeting him at the car meet for the races.” I smirked. “let’s battle it out on the roads, ignis.”

'the next station is . . . shibuya.'
“jace, how much farther is the hotel?” I asked, knocking my legs onto the dashboard, and crossing them at my ankles. simultaneously, I pulled down my sunglasses.
“relax, passenger princess, just a few more minutes and we’ll be there.” he replied.
jason glanced at piper in the mirror and smiled.
I would never admit it, of course, but it was terrible being so good at one thing and horribly bad at another. honestly, who would ever believe that the king, ignis, had never been in an actual relationship? the one-night stands didn’t count, obviously. I’d never felt anything close to… love.
pondering my status of being single, I fell asleep in jason’s car.
“dude, bro, homie, my man, whatever, WAKE UP, WE’RE GOING TO BE LATE-”
“did you… did you carry me into bed, jason grace?” I opened one eye and grinned at him lazily.
“you were sound asleep, even worse than a log. I tried kicking you awake, but it didn’t work, so I had to pick you up, ufortunately.”
“aww, don’t sound so happy.”
“shut up. if you don’t get ready to get to the car meet, we don’t get a ticket to race for the entire next month,” he said.
“what- OH, I forgot about that. one ticket’s enough for all 23 races, right?”
“yeah, i’ll explain the details to you in the car, go get ready, dumbass.”
I grinned. “jason grace is cursing, the world is healing-” a pillow hit my face. “i’m going.”
timeskip
“okay, the serious ones you need to look out for are python, shooting star, and tsunami.”
“shooting star?” I choked on my water. “what-”
“weird name, huh?” a girl chuckled behind me, and I whipped around.
“oh no no no no, i’m sorry- are you shooting star? uh, shit, I apologi-”
“nah, but it was funny seeing you get so flustered, valdez.” she smirked.
“do we… know each other?” I asked, confused. her smirk widened.
“not yet, but real soon,” she said, her smirk never faltering and confidence never wavering. she turned and began walking away, and I stood there, mouth open.
“she’s pretty, but she’s also tsunami,” piper commented. oh.
“who said she’s pretty? I didn’t. did you? I don’t know,” I rambled. whatever. “she’s my competition. she’s just in the way of me and my golden trophy.”
“there’s no trophy, dumbass.” jason reminded me.
“a 700$ cash price is equivalent to a trophy, man,” I corrected him.
“ok, well, listen up. she’s called tsunami for a reason. she’s vicious, takes everyone by surprise at every race, and is the queen of shinjuku’s street racing. and most importantly? she’s never lost a single race.” piper explained. I took in every bit of that info, and filed into a part of my brain labelled ‘dangerous and pretty competition, stay away’.
“what’s her ride, then?” I asked, a little curious.
“1997 mazda rx-7 veilside fortune.”
“damn,” I whistled. before I could find out more about her, the announcer on the stage started talking.
“welcome, racers and audience! today is day 1 of the annual tokyo races! here’s a quick rundown about it, in case you haven’t a clue: starting today, there will be 23 races for 23 days, each race held in a special ward of tokyo. we start here, at shinjuku, and end the 23rd race at shibuya!”
everyone cheered and whistled at the mention of shinjuku and shibuya, the two hubs of tokyo’s street racing.
starting at tsunami’s turf, and ending in mine, huh? this was going to be fun.

Hi!! I was reading your response to another anon question and it got me thinking about Samiel and Jason. Do Samiel and Jason ever have huge fights? Does their bond really stop that from happening? What if anything might cause that? Also, slightly unrelatedly, Jason and Samiel are part of the zeitgeist within the world of Icarus burning but I was wondering if there was a huge shift in the amount of lenian/human mixing after their story came out or if they are simply the exception, a perfect story
Hi lovely Anon!
Thank you so much for your questions (and I just have to add I adore your description of Jason and Samiel as part of the zeitgeist of the IB world).
I got a bit wordy answering (as usual!), so I've popped my ramblings behind the cut:
Do Samiel and Jason ever have huge fights? Does their bond really stop that from happening?
Oh my word, yes! I think the completely quiet life is never an option for those two, and they certainly disagree. For me, I think there are more fights at the beginning, when they're both settling on Elysium (when Samiel's learning to just breathe and trying to work out what he wants to do; and Jay's trying to juggle a husband who's having a bit of an identity crisis, and everything else he's responsible for in Kathikas). That said, I think there are things throughout their life they will disagree on, and from time to time that results in a huge argument.
I think over the years that lessens to some extent, purely because they're more in sync with one another - have learned how to live together, and the shape their relationship will take - but occasionally? Yes, occasionally I think there's teeth-bared, inherent-danger-of-violence fights, complete with out and out bellowing at one another. (I also think they sometimes engage in furiously angry sex. Because even when they're both utterly enraged, they still want one another on such an intrinsic level that the anger translates itself into a kind of desperate, savage want. So, sometimes the sex can be as much of a fight as a fist to the face, and they both enjoy it in spite of themselves).
Samiel, I think, is ironically the one who is more overt when he loses his temper - he will shout. Jay can give as good as he gets, but I think if he's utterly, well and truly pissed off, he descends into an icy sort of calm.
The bond wouldn't stop the fights from happening - I think in the heat of the moment it would make things worse. I mean, if Samiel's hugely angry, and Jay is too, that fury is going to ricochet between them down the bond in a horrendous feedback loop. I certainly think it could exacerbate the situation, until one of them shuts it out. Equally, I think the bond also allows for greater healing after the event. They can both feel the regret from one another; feel the sincerity of the apologies. It helps, I think, even if sometimes it harms too.
What if anything might cause that?
A whole host of things! I think Jay is the messiest of the two, and I think there are petty squabbles about Samiel tripping over shoes that have been left around the house.
But a major fight? Certainly if one of them actively puts themselves in danger because they think they have to, I think the other one would - somewhat hypocritically - be furious. (For example: Jay deliberately going into a situation he knows might result in death, but relying on his fast talking to get him out of it. Or Samiel plunging recklessly into danger, because he thinks he's invincible with a salzon in his hand.) I think they would almost certainly have political disagreements too: Jay can't help meddling sometimes, and I doubt Samiel is always going to approve. What's good for humanity, after all, is not always good for Lenia, and he does still have loyalty to his people.
I also have a small headcanon that from time to time, Samiel and Hird team up to blow off a bit of steam, by taking on high risk missions. I think they get themselves into some scrapes, and I think although Jay understands, if they do something really stupid, he is absolutely going to be cross.
And sometimes I think small arguments build up over time, until frustrations come boiling out for the pair of them, and they end up in an all-out shouting match over the most ridiculous things (like who forgot to water the plants).
But the one thing they never do? They never regret choosing each other anyway. I think that remains at the core of them, and always will. Even when they want to murder one another, there isn't a moment, a heartbeat, where they wouldn't want to be there, in that moment, raging at their beloved because he forgot to turn the fucking bath tap off.
I was wondering if there was a huge shift in the amount of lenian/human mixing after their story came out or if they are simply the exception, a perfect story.
Oh Anon, you have hit on a couple of things in this wonderful ask that I have a lot of feelings about!
I think at first there isn't a huge shift in Lenian/human mixing. I think certainly to start with, Jay and Samiel are the exception to the rule. But. Things do start to change, and they start to change within their lifetime.
The colony on Elysium is the starting point for this: it's Daimion Athannus' gamble: let the Lenians and the humans mix as an independent, mutually supported colony. There are a lot of bumps along the way (I'm going to be touching on these in Going Down - or as I keep affectionately calling it 'the criminal underworld!fic'). But Jay and Samiel are also living on Elysium, albeit incognito, and I think they're as determined as Athannus to see it succeed.
That doesn't mean there isn't a lot of ill will for both sides to work out. I think politically they still don't trust one another, and on an individual emotional level both peoples have lost loved ones to this conflict. However, greater exposure to each others' cultures brings greater understanding, and I think yes, in the end, things do start to improve, although it takes decades.
But. I also want to touch on your description of Samiel and Jay as a 'perfect story', because you've put beautifully something that I've thought a lot about.
I think they do come to represent that. In the far-distant future, when time has blunted and softened the edges of their story into something more akin to a fairytale, they are held up as an example. They are the First. They are Soul Bound. They fought against their own prejudices, their own peoples, and they chose each other. I think the dirty, unsympathetic, ugly elements of them and their behaviours are lost, but the ideal of them remains. I think their names live on, if not their inherent natures, because people will look back on them, and think, This is what it should be like; this is what happens when you risk yourself for love. They created a huge societal and political shift, doing what they did. They fought an entire galaxy, and won.
But what people won't remember is that the kiss on the steps of the Naos was goodbye. That it was sorrow and desperation and bitter anger. What people won't remember is that Jay and Samiel fought each other, as much as they fought everyone else; that they blackmailed and murdered to get what they so desperately wanted.
I think they become a myth. I think they become the names people invoke as an exemplar, and before doing something ill-advised for love. I think they live on in their legacy of humans and Lenians finally (eventually) working together.
But I also think the whole story never gets told.
All of which is a very, very long-winded way of me saying: they eventually aren't the exception to the human/Lenian rule in centuries to come, but they were the first exception to that rule, and that makes them exactly what you describe: a perfect story.

On Highway 12, Tuesday, 10:00 PM
~~
I stare lazily outside into the night sky; the view of trees turning into a sea of green as we drive down the highway to our new home in Cedar Cove.
“Are we there yet?” I ask the driver. My dad briefly looks at his phone.
“No. Don’t worry , we’re almost there”
“That’s what you said two hours ago” I groan. He chuckles slightly. My mom chimes in.
“We’ll be there before you know it. Take a nap sweetie.”
“Fineee” I grab my ear buds before leaning back in my seat and rest my head on the window. I shuffle my playlist before falling fast asleep.
“ All of this could have ended differently. I screwed everything up back at Bowie. I lost all connections I built with my IB friends… and most importantly, Devin; my crush” I sniff softly “Maybe moving away… was the best choice” I thought before falling into a deeper sleep.
A brief memory of Richard comes across my mind in my sleep; a memory that I wanted to delete from my memory. He marches towards me, furious.
“You!” He seethed , jabbing a finger in my face “You caused this disaster!” This really wasn’t the time for confronting me.
I scowled. “Excuse me?! You know I was just following your orders!”
“I DON’T WANT TO HEAR IT! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!” We were now face to face “Now because of you, we lost the competition and the funds to support the IB program!”
I was one second away from punching his face. “If you give me a momen--” Before I could finish, he turned away.
“Fuck you, you piece of shit” he growled “Lets go “ He ordered everyone else. After that, rumors started to spread around the school; that I was the worst person in the entire school. Cold glares and isolation was only the tip of the iceberg. I came across Devin one day from the opposite direction. At Least I have one person that could brighten my day, or so I had thought.
“Oh. Hey Devin!” I greeted.... A moment of silence, not a single glance in my direction” Devin?”
He grunted. “ Get away from me.” This wasn’t his normal behavior and I made the mistake of confronting him.
“Wh-- Please don’t tell me you believe the rumors that's been going around these past few weeks.” Devin gritted his teeth and pushed me towards the lockers. “Ow- What the hell was that for?!”
“I’m not gonna say it again. GET.AWAY.FROM.ME. I don’t want to see your face anymore” He threatened.
That was when my world started to break into a million of pieces. Richard’s words echoing through my mind. “THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!”
Gritting my teeth,“SHUT THE FUCK UP!” I scream back, waking up. A moment of silence pass as I try to regain my composure. “Oh”. I look up to my parents staring back at me from the front mirror.
Turning back,“Oh honey, another nightmare?” My mother asked, face slightly frowning in concern. “You were thrashing back and forth again.”
“I-... no...maybe” I sigh “It’s nothing really”.
“Are you sure Ben? You’ve been having a lot of these night scares recently ever since we moved.” My father asked, throwing a concerning look in the front mirror.
I shrug. “Just a bit stressed from the past few weeks. Don’t worry.” Life was hectic for all of us due to sudden changes at my parents’ jobs and it showed. “Once we get to our new home, I’ll be all better.” I cleared my throat. “How far are we away from Cedar Cove now?”
“Well..” My dad looks at his phone again “We’re not too far away now. About ten minutes. We’ll probably see the sign for the city along the way.” No sooner than he said, we pass a sign with Cedar Cove in big letters. The sea of green gradually shifted to buildings and highway lightings.
“Ugh ten more minutes until I can sleep in a real bed--”
Suddenly, the car came to a jolting stop to a stop light.
“Woah!” I gasp, thrown out of my seat. “What was that for dad?” pouting as I got back up.
He chuckles. “Haha, sorry about that. Just tired from all the traveling, didn’t see that stop light”. My mom elbows him from across. “Ow! Sorry Sorry” he laughs. “We’ll be in Cedar Cove and to our new home soon..”
I roll my eyes “ ugh just save me from this nightmare already.” I grumble as I look out into the night sky.
We drive down the streets of Cedar Cove, taking in the view of the town. The town looked pleasant enough.
“ Turn left and your destination will be on the right.” The GPS stated.
The car came to a stop as we arrived to our new driveway. “FINALLY! WE’RE FREE!” I shout as we get out of the car. “Hey mẹ* . Can I borrow your arms?” I hold onto her hands and lean back to stretch my spine. Crack, Crack. “Wow … that must have been one long ride” I thought. We stretch for a bit longer before dad came over to hand me the keys to the house.
“Don’t go losing the keys now.”
Rolling my eyes“When have I ever lose the house keys?” I joke. He chuckles.
“Anyways, the moving truck should be here tomorrow . Go help mom bring in the beds and call it a night. Tomorrow is going to be one busy day.”
I nod. “The sooner the better” I laugh as I help my mom bring in the beds into our new house. The house didn’t look half too bad, in my opinion. It was smaller than our old home, but it had that familiar quaint feeling. At last, I chose my room and dropped my bed in a corner. I took out my phone and checked the time. Yikes, 11 P.M. I flop onto my bed.
I flop onto my bed.“Good night mẹ”
“Good night darling, rest up. We have a lot of stuff to do tomorrow” I groan a reply before falling asleep.
Beep. Beep.Beep. I half open one of my eyes to look at my phone.8:45 AM. “Ughhh, too early for this” I roll across my bed. “5 more min--” I mumble before the door to my room suddenly opens.
“GOOD MORNING SQUIRT!” My dad beams. I really wasn’t in the mood for this. I squinted.
“Good.. morning to you to dad” I mumble as I lazily wrap myself in my blanket.
“Time to rise and shine! We have a lot of stuff to do.”
I don’t know how he’s so active in the morning. “Yeah.. i’ll,rise and shine in like 5 min--” I start before he yanks the blanket away from me.
“AHH! Fine i’m up.” I complain.
He laughs “Go get some breakfast and i’ll see you in a bit”. I yawn before getting out of bed to do the usual morning routine. Afterwards, I plop down on one of the makeshift chairs in the kitchen with a bowl of cereal.
“So what’s the plan for today?” I ask before eating a spoonful of cereal.
“Well” My mom takes a sip of her coffee”The moving company is arriving this afternoon. Then we have to head to the local dealership to get you a car and we’re going to shop around for furniture.” She hands dad a cup of coffee.
Finishing the last bite of my cereal and gulping the milk down. “I see and by we, you mean you and dad?” She playfully slaps my shoulder.
“ Yes dear” rolling her eyes
”We’ll handle the moving stuff, in the meantime you’ll drive around town and visit your new high school” My dad states.
I felt a knot form in my stomach. “Fantastic. What’s the address to the school?” I lend my phone to my dad as he types the address in. “Oliver M. Berry High. Not too far away from here.”
My mom chimes in “ We contacted the principal before hand, and she’ll get you settled.” Both of them finishing their cup of coffee. “Ready to go?”
“Yep. Give me a min to change into some clothes and i’ll see y’all at the car.” I got up and walked back to my room.
Berry High, eh? Let’s hope it’s better than my previous school I thought before changing out of my house clothes. We drove to the local dealership to rent a car for me. I’m not entirely picky when it comes to cars, as long as it gets me from point A to B. We drive up to the entrance and a employee comes to greet us.
“Good morning there! Welcome to the Cedar Used Car shop. How may I help you today?”
“We’re here to buy a car for my son. We just moved into town today.” My dad says.
“Oh! Welcome to Cedar Cove. Please come this way to view our selection”
We spent two hours or so testing out the multitude of cars available. We decided on a 2005 Honda Accord. My parents signed the papers and soon I find myself inside my car.
“Drive safe son” He hands me the keys to the car. “We’ll take care of the rest”
“I will.” I look at the time on my phone, 11:30 AM. “ Oh it’s almost time for me to go. I’ll be back later tonight.” My parents nod. “Have fun shopping” I joke before driving away.
“ Your destination is on the right” my GPS stated.
I glance over to my right and came across my first sight of Oliver M.Berry High school. I furrow one of my eyebrows in surprise.
“Huh… this school looks a bit smaller than Bowie” I thought in disappointment. I searched around for a guest parking spot to park my car. “Well, this is my new car now. Better than nothing I guess”. I parked my car and got out “ Well here goes nothing. “ I took my first steps on Berry High’s ground. A small grin comes across my face.
“Wow this place looks a bit better than I thought it was” I thought as I observe the environment. I opened the front doors of Berry High and a woman in a yellow blouse came to me.
“Good afternoon , young man! You must be Ben Burton, our new student.” She offers a handshake, smiling.
“Uh… Yes I am.” I shook her hand “and you must be?”
“ I am Principal Hughs and I welcome you to your new home.”

Elemental Wars Book Of Wishes Chapter VI: The Return of Junis|New Student
Wednesday morning at school in the auditorium, all students, freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors reported to the auditorium for the five huge announcements. "Good morning everyone, may I have your attention please?" "So when will you let me get your phone number?" "You, me, at my place." "Mr. Turner!" "Huh?" "Go back to your seat or I will give you Saturday detention." "Okay! Okay!"
"I'm here to explain to everyone that is present in this assembly about the huge announcements." "First announcement is the new rule, you are allowed to wear casual clothes every Friday, it has to be appropriate, nothing inappropriate." "Second announcement is there will be a new student coming to Shanghai Academy, behave yourselves and show her a lot of respect."
"Third announcement will be a Boys vs Girls Relay Race this Friday, just sign up if you interested to participate in the special event." "Fourth announcement has to do with everyone here, Mr. Galanos, Mr. Turner, Ms. Sanchez, and the new student will be on the new school bus with the juniors and seniors." "Mr. Yakamura, Ms. Ishikawa, and Ms. Akamine will be on the same bus with Freshmen and Sophomores."
The boys were arguing and really fed up about the rules of being moved to another bus except for Junis and Anstice. "Silence!" The boys kept their mouths shut and behaved themselves. "Moving on to the Fifth announcement, everyone make some noise for the return of the freshmen, Junis Yei-Sung Yakamura!" Junis arrived on the stage really confident as everyone cheered for him going wild.
"Good morning Shanghai Academy, what is going on today?" "I'm back!" "Better than the time I came here which was last week." "I won't let anyone down here, I will give in my all to lead us to victory!" The crowd cheered so loud really hyped up as hell giving him the energy and the courage to do the impossible.
Few moments later at lunch, Junis was eating Spicy Curry, Pork Ramen, and drinking his Blue Iced Tea for lunch. he noticed Sukina was next to him in the same table. She sighed really sad and he looked at her. "What's wrong Akamine San?"
"It's this jerk, he has been harassing me for two days and I told her to stop but he threatened to hit me." "What!?" "Where is that peeping tom!?" "He's in the weight room working out for his first football game." "Why?" "Because you need to tell the principal about this." "But, but, I'm too scared." "You shouldn't be afraid to tell her."
The peeping tom showed up in the cafeteria. His name is Troy Stevenson he's 6'8, 245 Ibs. Running back for the Shanghai Academy Football Team. He's a Senior, he loves to sexually harass freshmen girls like Sukina. He sat next to Sukina and began to harass her and not caring that Junis is next to her.
"G-G-Get off of me!" "Nope, you are just the perfect one to become my girlfriend, what do you say?" "I don't want to be with a peeping Tom like you!" Sukina slapped him really hard and hides behind Junis really scared.
"Come on babe, don't be scared of me." Troy tried to harass her again but more than that, to rape her but Junis prevented him from doing that. "Who the fuck are you loser?" "Her friend, leave her alone!" Junis said as he glared at him. Troy got pissed, moved him out of the way and Sukina ran to Junis seeing him on the floor.
"Yakamura Sama, speak to me!" Junis woke up and looked at Sukina and smiled. "Ugh...I'm fine now." Principal Akamine showed up in the Cafeteria and was really furious at Troy. "I caught you on camera, you sexually harassed my daughter and attacked one of my star pupils." I warned you yesterday that if you disobey me, I will suspend you!" "You are expelled, meaning you won't be in this school anymore!"
"You are so dead Yakamura, I will come after you!" "Take him away." The security threw him out of school as Principal Akamine went back to her office.
Later after school, Junis Participated at the Shanghai Academy's Basketball tryouts, everyone in the gym say he put on a show but he show no emotion, he was more serious than the varsity players that played last year. He was on another level, before the tryouts, everyone thought he's a horrible talent, a try hard, a joke to the team, he proved everyone wrong.
He let the game do the talking, he was known as the silent rookie. he was a cold blood killer in the gym, he put the coach, fans, even the varsity team on notice. Coach decided to make his decision on Friday. Junis understood Coach's message and part ways as he went in the locker room getting dressed after working so hard.
Few hours later after he got dressed, he started walking to home but decided to walk to Sukina's house to check on her. He heard her screaming coming from the basement and he hurried and rushed in her house, in the basement and sees Sukina in the corner avoiding Troy in fear.
"LEAVE AKAMINE SAN ALONE!" Junis said yelling at Troy really angry. Troy turned around and transformed into a big mutant beast. "I was close to making the bitch mine until you got in my way you little runt!" "I'm tired of running from you Troy, I will take you down, and save Akamine San!" Troy got pissed and comes at Junis and attacked him crushing his bones, Junis coughs a lot of blood and trying to get up, Troy grinned at him and laughed maniacally for a moment.
"Well then, it's time to kill you, you are a worthless, useless, unworthy loser, even he would use his sloppy seconds on that green hair beauty. Junis having memories of the times he spent with Kimichi, the moments that makes him happy. Troy started choking him in the worst way possible you can think of, Junis balds his right fist and punched him really hard in the gut and Troy crashed against the wall.
"How did you manage to surpass my power!?" "You are a weakling, you are nothing but a human!" "You're wrong, I'm Junis Yei-Sung Yakamura, I'm a crimson dragon!" Junis said as he opened his right yellow eye. Junis brutally attacked Troy, crushing his body, and his skull using amber crusher.
Troy crashed through the wall and into the forest dead. Junis breathes heavily and turned back to normal. He takes Sukina back to her room and healed her using phoenix tears. He did everything he can to heal her wounds, Sukina went to sleep peacefully. He went to the basement and restored the walls downstairs using restore spell.
Thursday morning at 1st period class, Mr. Dominguez started passing out everyone's previous classwork from yesterday. "Sukina Akamine." "Present." "You got a A+, congratulations." "Thank you Mr. Dominguez." "Ming Zhun." "Here." "You got a A-, congratulations." "Thank you sir." "The new student named Allison Dominique." "Present." "A+ for you." "Thank you." "Junis Yakamura." "Present." "Outstanding job, I'm proud of you just like Allison,Sukina, and Ming, congratulations, you passed." "Thank you so much sir."
"Lastly we got you, Terrance McPeterson, you failed, you skipped my class for 3 weeks." "You get a F." Terrance loses his cool and yelled at the teacher with unyielding rage. "Oh come on Mr. Dominguez, how did I get a fucking F!?." Mr. Dominguez explained to him how he failed his class.
"Mr. McPeterson, just look at your grades, you have the worst grades than Samuel." "What!?" "Be quiet and listen." "On your first math sheet, you got a 0%, a F in multiplication. " "On your second math sheet, you got a 25%, a F in Division." "On your third math sheet, you got a 5%, a F in addition." "On your fourth math sheet, you got a 40%, a F in Subtraction." On your Last Sheet, you got a 50%." "That's a good grade." "No it's not you idiot!" "A 50% is a F!
"This is a load of bullshit, you stupid sack of shit!" "Get out of my class, you are banned from coming here!" Terrence threw his table at the chalkboard and stormed out the class, Mr. Dominguez called Principal Akamine and Terrance McPeterson got suspended for a year for his rude behavior."
Few moments later after school in the gym, Junis performed on the last day of basketball tryouts, he moved faster than yesterday, worked even harder, made every shot, rebounded better, played really aggressive, moved the ball around unselfishly, protecting the paint, and go on a fast break running too hard ahead of everyone.
At the end of the basketball tryouts, the coach of the basketball team walks up to Junis and speaks to him. "Hey kid, you got spunk, physicality, being unselfish, die hard attitude, winning mentality, and the skills that we need in a point guard, you are just the point guard we need." "My name is Dennis Harris, but call me Coach Harris." Coach Harris said as he shakes his hand. "What's your name kid?" "Junis Yei-Sung Yakamura, you can call me Junis." "Cool name for a talented point guard like yourself, congratulations, you are part of the basketball team, welcome to the Shanghai Dragons."
Few hours later Sukina and Junis came home late with Principal Akamine, Principal Akamine went to bed in her room on the 3rd floor. Sukina wanted to talk to Junis and thank him for saving her life. "Yakamura Sama, I want to thank you for saving my life, if you haven't been there for me, I would have been dead."
"No problem Akamine San, I will always look out for my friends especially you." Sukina smiled and went to her room and fell asleep. Junis went in the basement and felt cold, he warmed himself up by making the basement cold. He lays on the comfortable bed and fell asleep.

5/2-8 (1): Beach Trip; Softball Senior Night
32nd WEEK, MAY 2-8, 2016.
See this?
This is the scariest thing I’ve seen this week.
Or maybe this month.
Or maybe in a long time.
And what makes it scarier is the fact that it will keep going earlier and earlier until summer solstice.
I looked it up. On Ramadan, which will start around June 6-7, average time for Fajr will be around 3. Which means I will have to wake up at 2 to eat suhoor (a pre-dawn meal you eat before you fast for the whole day).
And the next scariest thing would be the fact that sunset on Ramadan will be at like 9pm. So... roughly 18 hours of fasting.
I was totally not prepared for this.
(kebanyakan dosa)
Ehm.
On another note, this week has been okay, although not quite same-old-same-old.
On Monday and Tuesday, the IB students had IB testing for Language and Literature. Since seniors have to take IB Lang and Lit, we all had to take the IB Exam. (unless you’re like me and some other people—who weren’t registered on IB website for IB testing because you enrolled to the school late) (but Mrs. Shaw said even if we’re not registered we still had to take the exam as our grades) (which made me complained to Mr. Pierce—the man in charge—on how unfair the world is because he let Gretar and Abdulmalik and Raffy not to take the test for some reasons but not me)
But the test went on from the beginning of school day to around 10.30ish, so if that means I can skip second period, I’m not complaining no more.
The first day wasn’t so stressful. We had to pick one of two provided texts and just analyze the hell out of it to the very core. You know, basic English class stuff. Everything happens for a reason. Why is the size of the text like this. Why does the author put this part before this part. What does this picture mean. Why is the person in this picture wearing a dress.
Subhanallah. Suka-suka aja deh.
And on the second day, we had to answer one out of six provided questions about the books we’ve read over the year. Some students had to do “The Things They Carried” and “Their Eyes Were Watching God” because they’ve been in the class since the beginning of the year, and for the students who had just enrolled to the school this past semester had to do “Othello” and “Things Fall Apart”. That’s for standard level class students. Higher level class students had to do three texts instead of two.
To be honest, it’s not that dreadful. (or maybe because English has been a fav subject for me) and to be honest, it feels good to skip first and second and third period. Haha.
Oceanography class keeps getting better and better. Mrs. Wong has this target to take her Oceanography class to three field trip this year. So far we’ve done one, the Salish Sea one, and here’s our second one: we went to Alki Beach in West Seattle to go tidepooling!
The day we went—Friday, May 6—was one of the days where the tide was really low, probably among the lowest for the month. So when the tide is low, we will see things that is usually below the water surface. What you will see during a low tide is there’re gonna be little pools of ‘leftover water’ from when the tide was high, and inside those little pools are usually multiple organisms you won’t see during the high tide. Tidepooling is like that—looking for (and at) organisms in those little pools during low tide.
Our class is a small class to start with, so, with two people not joining us, there were me, Sadia, Mikhel, Azhanae, Makayla, and Gretar. And Mrs. Wong and Mr. Henderson. We took the school van (that “looks like a rapist van,” Mikhel said) to Alki Beach.
The weather was so nice. It was hot but windy. The beach was pretty too (if you’re thinking about sandy beaches, then you’re wrong. The sandy part of Alki Beach is man-made, the natural beach of most of the Pacific Northwest is rocky—plus, most of organisms we were looking for for tidepooling live off rocks). We found some cool creatures. Small crabs, hermit crabs, moon snails, flatworms, green-pink anemones, and at one point we found a big purple sea star.
It was exciting to see creatures you don’t see very often and you mostly see on the internet.
We were split into two groups. There were me, Sadia, and Makayla in my group. Each group had to come up with an idea of an experiment. We were given hand-outs about the experiment that had been done by previous students, and we were to come up with an experiment quite similar to that one but not exactly the same. My group came up with the experiment of correlation between intertidal zones and size of anemones, while the other group, I think, tried to find out the correlation between intertidal zones and amount of crabs.
Mrs. Wong brought two hula-hoops as a transect, which is like a ‘frame’ that marked the area that we were doing our experiment on. Say that you put a hula hoop on any random place in intertidal zone 1. That means we, in this case, my group, were only allowed to observe anemones within the area inside the hoop ring. This helps the consistency of the experiment, so that we’re not making mistake doing our experiment in different sizes of areas.
After fooling around with the hoop (Sadia was pretty amusing with her hoop skills—and I apparently rediscovered my childhood spirit and did the longest hula-hoop session in my entire life), we sat and filled our papers with background information and procedure. We’re going to do the experiment after lunch.
At lunch, we walked along Alki Beach and tried to find some good place to have lunch. Initially, Sadia had spoken for the entire class that we should have fish and chips at a place called Ivar’s, but much to her disappointment, Ivar’s doesn’t exist in West Seattle. Downtown, probably.
So we ended up splitting up for lunch. Mrs. Wong tried to console Sadia by suggesting some other fish and chips place, but the girl wouldn’t budge, so she stopped at Subway instead, Mikhel later followed. Azhanae and Gretar decided to eat in this place called Fatburger. So Makayla, Mrs. Wong, Mr. Henderson, and I walked some more and found this place called Spuds that sells fish and chips.
It was satisfying. Then we walked back as a group to the beach where we did our experiment. Now we got to use the hoop for collecting data. What we did was we identified intertidal zone 1, 2, and 3. Then we walked to Zone 1 and dropped the hoop on a random spot in Zone 1. As for my group, we measured the diameter of 5 randomly selected anemones within the hoop. As for the other group, they counted the number of crabs within the hoop. Then we moved to Zone 2, making an imaginary straight line outward from the shore as we walked. Then we did the same for Zone 2 and 3. Then we calculated the average and made a claim.
Mrs. Wong is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had—the reason I said this, aside from she really is a good teacher and a nice person to talk to, is because by the time we finished out experiment, we still have 45 minutes of free time if we were to come back to school right when the end-of-school bell rings. Our faces told Mrs. Wong that we didn’t want to go to class, so she gave us that 45 minutes for chilling—strolling along Alki man-made sandy beach. Enjoying the strong wind. Immersing feet into the warm sand. Seeing people laying all over the beach, trying to get tan (while this tropical-born person was trying with all her might not to get sun ray on her skin). Some women doing yoga or some sort. Kids playing with the sand.
Aah.
We went back to school with a happy state of mind. We got to school just around 10 minutes before school ended. If I had nothing to do, I could’ve taken the light rail or the bus straight to downtown to watch the movie I’ve been waiting—Captain America: Civil War, since it was its premier that day. But that’s the thing: I had things to do. Well—one big thing, to be precise.
Friday was our last home game (and last game overall) for softball this year. We were going against Ingraham High School from North Seattle. The first time we were against them was the preceding Wednesday, I think. First thing to know about our softball team: we are so used to losing, and it’s the truth. But for some reason the game left me kind of upset. One big reason why, maybe, was because they deliberately gave themselves three consective outs so that we would have the chance to bat. The same thing Cleveland did. I started to question if this ‘walking off base out of pity’ thing is some kind of secret code of ethics that all schools had but ours.
Oh, and Kira was injured at the very last moment of the game. She was, at first, safe at second base, but then, according to the view from our dugout, she was shoved off by the second baseman, then she fell off the base, then the second baseman had the ball, then she’s out. The girls (of our team) were furious. If you’re from Ingraham High School softball team and reading this, I’m sorry, but some of us did talk shit about you for a while.
But, this last game means it’s our senior night. Senior night just means a little celebration after the game for the seniors who, obviously, will not be playing next year.
(...and exchange students. Well, I am a senior, but Kira is a junior. But we did a celebration for her anyway)
Again, I repeat, it’s our last game. So I won’t let this game make me upset, I’m just gonna have fun. Because, with these guys, I know that we don’t need to win to have fun.
The seniors in our team were me, Imi, Mikhel, Tina (who preferred her name to be written as Teenaah), and Martina. Before the game, the non-seniors (excluding Kira) came with big folded posters. I didn’t know what those were, until they put it along the outfield fence.
Those were posters with the seniors’ (and Kira’s) name on it and their jersey numbers (except me, apparently). Imi’s says ‘Captain Imi’, Tina’s says ‘Teenaah, outfield’, Kira’s says ‘Wir Lieben Kira’ (‘we love Kira’), Mikhel’s says ‘Mikhel, right field’, and Martina’s says something punny about her being a catcher and a get-well-soon wish (since she’s injured a week before our last game).
That did enough to make my mood before the game started.
Nonetheless, the game turned out to be fun. I said it’s fun and I’m pretty happy with it because this time, we were actually better than how we did at our previous game with Ingraham. Our fielding was good and our batting was definitely better than last time (not for me, though, I still suck at batting). I felt so comfy in my inital position as second baseman—although at the last inning I was moved to right field.
Ingraham still won by a lot. But this time, we had points that we acquired ourselves, we gave them outs without them deliberately taking. It was, indeed, a good game.
After the game ended, we gather around a circle as usual. Some girls were fooling around with water from the water dispenser, then secretly tipped it over Tomchick so that the ice-cold water splashed on his back—basically all over his body (I, who was standing next to him, got a bit splashed too—it felt nice, actually, since it’d been hot). Kira and Martenus got a game ball. After the talk, Tomchick took out this plastic bag which apparently had been there all along. Inside it were long necklaces of candies. (iya, kalung permen.) Tomchick gave them to each of the seniors and Kira. Then Coach Beavers gave us a free softball shirt that she made. Then Kira kindly asked for a last group picture since I wasn’t there when they took the official team picture for the yearbook (aww).
Ah. What a good way to end the season.
The week didn’t stop there. Fun things mostly happen at the weekend.

The Taste of It
I tried to translate it into English. Forgive me, I hope I succeeded. This is the second fic I wrote about TianShan. Originally posted here: http://www.efpfanfic.net/viewstory.php?sid=3653915&i=1 He Tian x Mo GuanShan
--------------------
It was dawn, the sun was barely visible on the horizon. In a bedroom, a cell phone was ringing. << H-hello? >> said a hoarse voice << Come to my place, now >> replied another voice on the other side of the phone. << What? But ... He Tian? Why the fuck did you call me? What time is it?! >> << Hurry up >> He Tian ordered, a second time, before closing the call. Guanshan had to clamp his eyes still matted from sleep to be able to distinguish the numbers on the bright screen. It was early, just 6.30 a.m, he could go back to sleep, ignoring He Tian’s call ... and accept the embarrassing consequences that this would entail. The last time he did it He Tian had taken away his pants, including his sweatpants; it was terrible. Hidden in the bathrooms with no chance to get out of it without looking like a perverted, GuanShan had been forced to stay there until late at night, until he had been caught by the caretaker who thought it was a bad joke. Moved by pity the old man had lent him a pair of crumpled jeans. "Damn you He Tian". Thought Guanshan, dragging himself out of bed. Every day the same story, what had he done now? Why it was always up to him to solve the damage of his incompetence? He Tian was an expert in many aspects of his life: the study, the relationships with those around him, the sport in general and ... well many other things; but in regard to the habits of ordinary mortals he was a total crap. He snorted, running his hands over his eyes and dropping on the mattress. It was better to resolve the issue as soon as possible. When He Tian welcomed him home, GuanShan had every intention of receiving at least an explanation. << You are a bastard to call me at this our and expect me to come here as a fucking dog! >> << Good morning to you too >> << What do you want? >> << I have basketball practice, early this morning >> He Tian answered, quietly moving toward the kitchen << I need a good breakfast >>. "GO BUY IT YOURSELF!" wanted to scream the redhead, but something hit him. He sniffed the air and he had to restrain himself from throwing up. << What’s this smell? >> Guanshan churches, holding his nose and becoming pale. << My omelet >> << Your ... omelette? >> << Yes, on the table. I was in a rush and I tried with the first thing I found, but ... well see for yourself >> Raising his chin He Tian pointed to the kitchen island: there was a pan placed in the middle. Reluctantly, Guanshan approached to observe the contents: there was a brown substance, oddly lumpy. There was a lot of it, at least a pound. << Wha- h-how many eggs did you use? >> << All of them >> << All of them?!? >> GuanShan watched the pan, remembering that he had bought two dozen eggs the last time he had been shopping for He Tian ... twenty-four eggs, ended that way. What a huge waste. He grabbed a fork, testing its consistency. On the outside it was crispy while the inside was soft and slimy, like jelly. He noticed strange white fragments in the midst of all that set of dubious origin << Have you removed the shells? >> << Of the eggs? >> << What fucking else?! >> << You think I’m an idiot? Of course I haven't. The instructions said "whole eggs", so I put the whole eggs >> There were so many things wrong with that sentence. It was oddly reassuring to know that He Tian totally suck at cooking. Nobody's perfect. "Nothing is more true" thought GuanShan, watching the concoction "Christ." He shook his head and threw everything in the trash. << You're a jerk. I’m warning you: this is the last time. And for your health ...just give up on cooking >> Tian He chuckled, reaching out and scratching his neck << Aww ~ you're worried about me? >> GuanShan moved away with a snap << I don’t give a fuck about you, this stuff is expensive >> He watched the inside of the refrigerator, bowing slightly: there wasn’t much left, soon he would had to go shopping again. << So you are a member of the basketball team >> said GuanShan absently << I didn’t know >> << I’m not. They have a match this afternoon and they need a replacement >> GuanShan clucked << And they asked you to join them >> << Of course. I’m the best at basketball, right? >> << Of course >> said the redhead. Guanshan grabbed a jar of jam, expired. "Yuck" he thought, putting it back in its place. Suddenly, his eyes widened freezing on the spot: what did he said? What the fuck had just come out of his mouth? Had he really just made a compliment to that narcissistic megalomaniac of He Tian? He was so deep in thought that he had forgotten to connect his lips to his brain. He didn’t move a muscle, silently staring at the refrigerator compartments. Maybe He Tian hasn’t noticed, maybe he could pretend that it never happened. However the silence behind him wasn’t reassuring at all. << What do you- >> << NOTHING! Shut up, asshole! >> GuanShan was about to grasp the stuff he needed for the recipe, when He Tian’s hands shook forcefully on his shoulders, turning him. GuanShan suddenly found himself with his back planted on the refrigerator, which closed with a resounding thud; He Tian stood facing him and he was fast approaching. All this happened in a matter of milliseconds, there was no possibility that it could be avoided. Guanshan instinctively closed his eyes and waited ... one, two, three ... six ... ten. The seconds continued to go without anything happening. With caution, Guanshan peered, seeing He Tian’s face one centimeter away from his nose, serious. His eyes widened a little: a bit embarrassed for his reaction involuntarily docile, a bit furious with He Tian for leaving him there like a fool. He gritted his teeth, lifting his chin. << What the fuck are you staring at ?! >> << Well >> said He Tian with a grimace that Guanshan had never seen on him. "Is he ... sulking?" << You must do this yourself first, this time >> << Wh- what? What are you talking about? >> << You know >> He Tian slammed his forehead against GuanShan’s forehead; staring at his lips << I'm always making the first move, your turn. It's your turn >> Redhead clenched his jaw, pushing his face with his forehead << No! What are you a fucking kid?! I don’t want to! >> However He Tian had no intention to give up; he pushed harder on GuanShan, accentuating his pouting and frowning << It's your turn >> << That's stupid, you're stupid!! >> << No it isn’t, it has a whole different flavor >> << Flavor?! We’re not talking about food!! Let me go you bastard! >> GuanShan put both hands on He Tian face pushing him away, but it was like trying to shake up a concrete column. Going against GuanShan hands pressed to his cheeks, He Tian rejoined resisting as much as possible, pulling the skin on his face and deforming it unnaturally. It was something indescribable and GuanShan with difficulty refrained from laughing at his face. << You hab to bo it, ib your burn >> mumbled He Tian. << Pfff ... >> snorted Guanshan, loosening his grip << What are you laughing at ? >> << No one laughs! Fuck you! >> This time the expression on He Tian face became more serious, almost menacing. GuanShan gulped, without lowering his guard, it was a tactic, he could not give up. << You can stare at me all day, forget it >>. It was a losing battle. What He Tian wanted was a spontaneous gesture, even threatening him and forcing him he would not have been satisfied. The only solution was to wait. << You said you had to go training! Fuck off! >> << No >> replied He Tian. << Uh?! >> He Tian moved his hands to GuanShan’s hip pulling him closer, he lowered himself approaching his lips just below GuanShan’s Adam's apple. GuanShan’s eyes widened feeling the beating of his heart against He Tian’s thin lips . He Tian’s hands went up, all over GuanShan’s back, before falling back on the sides. << H-hey ... stop! >> He Tian remained in its place, without removing the lips from his throat. His heart began to beat wildly, and it was then that GuanShan seemed to feel He Tian’s lips bent into a smile. << There it is >> he heard him whisper, but it was so weak that he wondered if he had just imagine it. Standing up He Tian stared into his eyes, seriously. << Would you rather it be me, to do it? As I like it? >> he whispered, licking his lips, voracious. << No!! >> shouted GuanShan He came to him, stopping a few millimeters from his lips. << No? Yet you’ve said it’s not your turn. So, can I? >> << Ugh ... fuck you! >> << Do you want to close your eyes as before? >> By now he was practically breathing on his lips. He could no longer escape. What should he do? Undergoing He Tian’s awkward kiss or make it happen by his hands? Quick and painless. "Fuck!" He narrowed his eyes snapping forward. It was a contact of a few seconds, he could barely define it as a kiss. GuanShan looked away, furious, frowning as never before. For a few seconds no one said anything. << You’re blushing >> whispered He Tian << SHUT UP! I’m not! >> He Tian chuckled, poking his forehead. << See? A whole different taste >> he whispered. He Tian walked away, looking vaguely satisfied. GuanShan watched him pick up the backpack and a duffel bag. << Let's go >> << Where? >> << School >> << What? What about the fucking breakfast?! >> He Tian tilted his head, eyeing Guanshan from head to foot, narrowing his eyes and grinning. << Somehow, I’m not hungry anymore >> Gritting his teeth GuanShan grabbed his backpack, shoving his shoulder against He Tian, surpassing him and entering the elevator. He Tian positioned himself beside him, crossing his arms << So ... >> he snapped, suddenly << Now is my turn again uh? >> GuanShan hit him with a powerful kick to the back, before getting out out of the elevator like a rabid dog << Fuck you bastard! >>

Fast and furious creativity!
Well, for a long time I didn’t know what my creativity can be, but I forgot that in April this (2017) I got my driving license! I had tough 5 months of driving lessons, some of them were really stressful, but I made it and I passed the exam in the first trial! In the photo attached you can see how good I was, everything positive. I guess I must be a good driver, maybe one day I will just like fast and furious :)

I'm going to universal studios Hollywood this weekend!! But I've never watched a full episode of the simpsons...I've never read Harry Potter....never finished watching Jurassic park... hate despicable me....never watched fast and furious because I think those movies are stupid lol. The only thing I have watched is the mummy with Brendan Fraser. As a child I just wasted my time reading other books and playing soccer outside with the boys lol. I never read Harry Potter because I once opened the book and it smelled like rotten eggs. The movies o thought were lame. And now that my love of reading was obliterate debt IB literature I'm too lazy to read it. But I'm looking forward to it. It might motivate me to finally read Harry Potter. It's kind of ironic that I'm going lol
#I'm pathetic#it's just those thins never caught my attention as a child and now I feel as if it's too late#I did read a lot of books and big ones too I just don't know why Harry Potter never caught my attention#I guess 4th grade me thought the smell of rotten eggs was enough to never read it lol

Ficlet Fridays!
In a bid to make sure I keep writing regularly, I’ve challenged myself to doing ficlet Fridays. So, small little ficlets here on the tumbleweed tumblr every Friday, of any of my current WIPs (or the IB ‘verse).
If anyone would like to throw a prompt into the writing ring, please do feel free!
Today we have some more of poor Severne Pallas, and his (brief) continuing adventures with the royal disaster duo:
Funeral Games
Pairings: Samiel/Jason (hints of Samiel/Pallas/Jason)
Notes: A quick little ficlet, dealing with the Great Kidnap Plan. No major warnings beyond AU!Samiel and Jay (and thank you to Sukka, for making me think about the Samiel/Pallas/Jay dynamic).
It has been three days since the Agapios put his plan into action.
Most of those three days, Pallas has spent pacing in a cell. Beneath him, he can feel the hum of the ship's engine; it's a sensation he still can't get used to. He's spent most of his life with his feet planted firmly on the ground, only travelling when he needed to, and never for this length of time.
“You do get used to it,” the Agapios says, when Pallas tells him.
He's sitting on the only bunk in the room, one leg propped up as he watches Pallas going slowly insane. His presence, Pallas can admit, is a comfort.
It is also a worry.
Right now, Pallas knows, Most Exalted is on his way to them. That's the whole purpose of this exercise. What he is less sure of, is how forgiving his King will be, when Pallas has had to let his husband be kidnapped.
Samiel Callios has killed for less.
“Stop worrying,” the Agapios says, as though he can read Pallas' mind. When Pallas glances at him, startled, he gives a little shrug. “I can hear your thoughts spiralling from here.”
“How do we know this will work?” Pallas blurts out, then winces. He hadn't meant to be so indiscreet. “I mean – ”
The Agapios slides off the bunk, crossing the room in two easy strides. He gets a hand on Pallas's shoulder and gives him a little shake. “Calm down,” he says. “Deep breaths. This is hardly the first time I've been held by a hostile force.”
“Well it's the first time I've had to guard you when you have!” Pallas snaps, then immediately regrets it.
The Agapios' lips twitch once, as though he is suppressing a smile. “You're doing very well.” The grip on Pallas's shoulder tightens reassuringly.
From this close, they are almost eye to eye. Pallas is a little surprised to realise he may even be slightly shorter than Jason Lane. He blinks, then blinks again. The Agapios' eyes are calm; thoughtful. It's like staring into the mist on the foothills outside Maa-Tarek.
For a moment Pallas's heart thumps once, painfully, in his chest.
“Agapios, I – ”
The ship lurches suddenly, an alarm screeching to life in the corridor outside their cell. It is ear-shattering, wailing above the sound of running feet and sharp, concerned voices.
Pallas staggers, and only the Agapios' grip keeps him upright. “What's going on?”
“I believe,” the Agapios says dryly, “my husband has just arrived.”
******************************************************************************************
After, Pallas only remembers their escape in fragments.
He remembers running; remembers too the shouts of startled Drakkia as they encountered the small group of Lenians who had boarded their ship. He thinks he saw Lysander Kyrios, snarling and furious, holding off four soldiers.
There was Most Exalted, blade in hand, carving through Drakkia like they were an afterthought; a nuisance.
Someone put a salzon in Pallas’s hand, and he remembers wanting to do some damage. Three days of frustration and worry boiling under his skin, and he refused to hold back.
The Agapios was the opposite of most of the chaos - calm and precise. Someone had given him a pistol, and he had been picking off Drakkia with disturbing ease. Pallas remembers the way he'd looked – flame-haired and sturdy; a pillar they had rallied around.
After, there are only a few Drakkia left, Kyrios among them. They are being rounded up under the watchful eye of Severne Kleos.
Pallas watches the whole thing, propped up in one corner. Now the adrenaline is wearing off, the stress is catching up with him and he's starting to tire.
“You're alright,” Most Exalted is saying. He has his Agapios by the nape of the neck, their foreheads pressed together as he breathes deeply. “You're really – ”
“I'm perfectly fine,” the Agapios says. “It went exactly as planned. Better, in fact. They were more interested in – ” He's cut off by a kiss, hard and desperate.
For a heartbeat, Pallas can't help but watch the way Most Exalted pulls his Agapios closer; the way the Agapios buries strong fingers in his King's hair, fiercely reassuring. They are dangerous; beautiful.
The scene is intimately shocking, even after so long exposed to the pair of them. It makes Pallas's mouth a little dry; makes his heart beat faster.
He turns his head away.
“Besides,” he hears the Agapios say. “I had Pallas with me.”
And no. No. Pallas does not want to draw the attention of his King right now. He's too tired to answer questions; too strung out to want to deal with that kind of intensity.
He closes his eyes, and hopes he escapes notice.
Footsteps approaching tell him he's not going to be so lucky. He heaves a quiet sigh and waits for the inevitable axe to fall.
“Severne Pallas,” Most Exalted says softly.
When Pallas opens his eyes, Most Exalted is standing in front of him. He's close enough that if Pallas reached out a hand, he could press his palm to his King's chest; could feel his heart beat through his tunic.
Samiel Callios is terrifying and beautiful, and honestly Pallas wishes he would go away right now.
“Most Exalted,” he says instead, drawing himself up and trying to look at least partially confident. He's lost his visor somewhere, and as Most Exalted studies his face, he longs for it with an intensity that he doesn't think he's ever felt before.
“You were imprisoned with Jason.” Most Exalted is watching him. His expression is thoughtful; the faintest of frowns drawing a line between his eyes.
This is it, Pallas thinks. This is the moment he condemns me for not doing enough. He lowers his gaze, ducking his head so he doesn't have to see the disappointment on his King's face.
The cool touch of fingers under his chin makes him flinch, surprised. Pressure makes him tilt his head back up, until he is eye to eye with Most Exalted.
For a moment, something flickers in his King's expression – there and gone so fast, Pallas isn't sure what he's seen.
“Thank you,” Most Exalted says. “I knew we could trust you.” He presses his lips, warm and dry, to the corner of Pallas's mouth.
It is –
It –
It's unheard of, Pallas thinks dizzily. It is absolutely unheard of for the royal couple to show favour in any way, let alone this. It marks him, in the eyes of his fellow Severne, as a higher rank; the King's most intimate bodyguard.
He doesn't deserve this. He doesn't –
Bewildered, he meets the Agapios' gaze over Most Exalted's shoulder.
Lane does not look surprised. He does not look disturbed, or annoyed, or any other emotion Pallas may have been expecting. Rather, there is outright approval on his face as he watches the pair of them.
Pallas sees him approach, and barely flinches when Most Exalted steps back. “I don't – ” he begins, bewildered.
The Agapios touches his cheek briefly; a gentle brush of the thumb that catches on the line of Pallas's jaw. “Severne Aristeos,” he says quietly. “You have our gratitude.”
The King leans into his beloved, lips pressed close to his ear. He mutters something that Pallas doesn't quite catch. The Agapios' mouth twitches in amusement; his eyes lighting up as he listens to his husband.
“Perhaps another time,” he says, loud enough for Pallas to hear. He takes the King's arm. “At the moment we have work to do.”
“Don't we always?” the King complains, as he lets himself be steered away. “There's always something more with you, mio ades.”
“Well,” the Agapios says, amused. “You know what they say.” He shoots a wink over his shoulder at Pallas. “No rest for the wicked.”
They walk off bickering comfortably, leaving Pallas standing there with his heart pounding, his mouth hanging open.
He's ended up with royal favour. Public royal favour. He doesn't know how this has happened. He's not –
He doesn't –
“Oh gods,” he says softly to no one in particular. “What have I let myself in for?”
