gonna have lots of alan stuff because i have like. a whole backstory for him lol. he just like me fr so i get to make him trans and autistic.

this is mostly for before the events of JP1 and right after. ian doesn't know he's nonbinary yet. doesn't know until probably... after jp2 i think, when his books become more popular. so i'm gonna be referring to him as a man in this post. (see my post about my nonbinary/genderfluid ian headcanon if ur confused)

- ian makes jewelery as a hobby in his spare time. made his turquoise necklace himself. LOVES turquoise.

- ellie has a houseplant addiction. don't ever send her to home depot, she WILL rescue all of the succulents. and once they're healthy, she gifts them to her friends. alan complains and insists he can't take care of a plant, that he doesn't have a green thumb, that he would somehow kill it accidentally within a month. but every time ellie stops by his trailer to come and visit, she notices that little plant thriving, for years.

- alan hyperfocuses so much on his work that he often forgets about everything around him. he could sit in the dirt for hours without end picking at fossilized bones, scrutinizing every tiny detail. at least he remembers to stay hydrated, though, always has his water bottle with him. dehydration is no joke, kids! especially out in the desert!

- alan was raised in a rural christian family. they never understood him or any of his interests. in high school, he had a very kind geology teacher who happened to be gay. he helped alan figure out his identity and get into college to become a paleontologist. alan's parents ended up kicking him out on the morning of his 18th birthday, since he just couldn't be the perfect christian daughter they wanted. without the support of his teacher, alan would've never won a college grant, and he would've been homeless. alan truly put everything into his career. every single time alan tried to write a letter home to his parents, it would be returned unopened, so he had to give up. alan started testosterone at 20 years old, it took him two years to find a doctor willing to help.

- alan and ellie met in college. alan was already a few years into his studies by the time ellie got in. alan had never had very many friends in his life, he tended to keep to himself and work alone. ellie's persistence eventually paid off, and after an expedition to the hell creek formation with the rest of their class, he was impressed with her knowledge of mesozoic plant life, and they became good friends.

- a couple years into their friendship, they realized they both have feelings for each other. alan comes out to ellie, terrified she'll leave him, but she doesn't. she doesn't understand at first, but she tries to, and she does her research (she LOVES researching things). she ends up helping alan a lot, making him a couple of proper binders (no more bandages or tape!) and helps him do his testosterone shots.

- they've dated on and off for a long time before the events of JP1. however, the traumatic events of isla nublar were just too much and put a significant strain on their relationship. their feelings for each other never went away, but ellie just couldn't do dinosaurs anymore, after all she went through. she felt she needed normalcy, but alan is alan and he wouldn't be himself without dinosaurs. so they mutually called it off. and she also always wanted to be a mom. and alan insisted he couldn't, he could never provide her what she wanted. yes, there's other ways to conceive, but it's deeper than that. deep down, he was afraid of turning out like his own father. heartbroken, he had to tell ellie to move on and find someone better for herself. after she began dating mark, alan became distant and isolated himself.

- before ian came into the picture, the only person alan had ever dated was ellie. alan's old fashioned, he never thought that someone like him could also like men too. he'd always distanced himself from anything 'queer', more for his own safety than anything else. but he also struggled a lot with internalized homophobia and transphobia. he thought it was a sign of femininity and pushed aside his attraction to ian for a very long time.

- alan is definitely an unsafe binder. he would often just forget he's wearing it while he's out on a digsite. when ellie's around, she would often have to remind him to take breaks. but when it's just himself, he's stubborn (and extremely dysphoric) so he usually forces himself to power through the whole day, ignoring the discomfort. it's easy to ignore when you're uncovering the remains of long extinct animals.

- thanks to his digsite getting enough funding from hammond, alan finally manages to save enough money to get top surgery about a year after the events of jurassic park. ellie takes time off to help him through recovery, but after that, they unfortunately become distant again. he tells ian he's recovering from carpal tunnel surgery. ian knows he's not telling the full truth, alan is very easy to read, but he doesn't press for more, respecting the man's privacy.

- and yes, this means he was binding almost the entire time while on isla nublar. he was in survival mode, only focused on his own safety and lex and tims', and absolutely nobody could know he's trans, so his stubborn ass powered through it, adrenaline blurring any pain. by the time everyone was rescued and off the island, it turned out that alan had bruised and cracked his ribs.

- for a month after the isla nublar incident, alan and ellie stayed with ian, helping him through the worst of the healing process. there was no way they would leave him alone after such a horrific, life-changing leg injury. it was difficult for alan, juggling a sexuality crisis and having to hide his, well, transness, in another man's household, the same man who caused this sexuality crisis, but he made it work. the memory of that time is a huge blur to ian anyways thanks to the pain meds. during this time, the three began to feel something more for each other, but it remained unspoken. alan doesn't even know that there's anything other than monogamy. unfortunately in my headcanon dinot3 doesn't become real until dominion 💔 i'm a slut for slowburns lmfao

okay, this is all i'm gonna write for now! i'd love to hear anybody's thoughts on these. i love these bitches sm they live in my head rent free. honestly i've been tempted to like... make a fanfic rewriting jp1 but with my headcanons, but that's too much work and i have a very bad habit of starting projects and never finishing them 💀 so probably not gonna happen. it's also very difficult trying to find any resources about how life was like for trans men back in the 80s/90s.

OMG…I like this a lot!

I am a huge fan of trans Jurassic Park head canons, and Jurassic Park book head canons!

My headcanon has always been that in the books, Ian Malcolm and Sarah Harding broke up due to Gerry Harding (assuming he is her father) essentially doing nothing and watching Ian bleed out after his injury in book one. This dichotomy of Sarah saving his life in book two and Gerry very nearly ending it in book one (since Ian’s death is effectively retconned) has always been interesting to me, but the idea that “Dr. Harding” is the same person makes these themes even juicer!! Love the idea that not only the same family, but the same person, can represent the power to abandon or to heal.

Anyway, just some more thoughts

so in the first jurassic park book there’s a male veterinarian (for the dinosaurs) by the last name of Harding. and in the second jurassic park book one of the main characters is a female zoologist/field veterinarian named Sarah Harding. my conclusion is that they’re the same person and she transitioned

Ian Malcom Headcanon (AU-I guess….)

After the events of the 2nd film, Ian and Sarah are still married to this day.❤️

And had two children of their own together a boy and a girl: Robert and Isabelle

But technically they have 15 due to Ian previous 3 children from his other marriages and their children.

He decided to be one big happy family so their kids are his kids, why be so distant about it. Which was pretty funny introducing him to the previous wives in-laws as “my ex husband “ but no big fuss.

His first ex wife: Isobelle married an Accountant famed Dan very sweet and kind they ahd 3 kids

His 2nd wife :Jeannie ,Married an ex Football player now retired as HS coach. They had 3 as well.

His 3rd wife : Kimberly, eventually married an actor who might as well named Donald ‘Don’ They had 4 kids (2 from a revulsion relationship of his ) and two from her.

Be a male model because she’s just as tall and handsome. And their kids end up being these same tall beauties their parents are.

i can't stop thinking about nonbinary/genderfluid ian malcolm... i imagine his books are like... the nonbinary bible. chaos theory? so you're telling me everything is changing and cannot be controlled? i imagine he even wrote upon his views of gender. and of course, the trans community probably caught on that he was nonbinary before he did! but once he fully realizes that side of himself, he fully embraces it. dude would be a total genderfuck, wearing whatever he wants, whenever he wants. probably switches up pronouns too, doesn't care what anybody calls him. and then when you pair that up with my trans alan grant headcanon... he helps alan open up more about his identity and shows him he doesn't have to be in complete stealth anymore and a lot of trans guys look up to him. pleeeeeaaaase i love them so muchhhhh ouuuughhhfhfhg

I'm so irritated by the entire Ian and Mickey get an apartment storyline because it's just so inaccurate on like every count. I know this is fiction and also the show's been over for ages but still. The last few series had such terrible writing and made no sense.

The map location that Ian looks at when they first find the apartment is like in the UIC/medical district area, almost in the loop. But also like. There are not a lot of apartments in Chicago with pools. You want a pool in your apartment complex, you're gonna be paying a lot more than $900 for a 1 bed 1 bath apartment. I mean, you're gonna be paying more than $900 period in that area. Plus like their income is better but not stable-stable from the security gig (and isn't it mostly under the table?) so I seriously doubt landlords there would even consider them.

(Not to mention the whole bullshit about Ian signing the lease without talking to Mickey about it first. (And Mickey would have to also sign the lease before it went into effect, unless everything is in Ian's name? So Mickey could have just said no.) Like that's such shitty behavior in terms of relationship stuff.)

But anyway, most of the actual west side is barely better off than the south side in terms of poverty. If they'd moved to the north side area or even north west it would have made more sense to have all the drama about bougie apartments and quiet and blah blah blah. (But then they absolutely would not be able to afford rent.)

My headcanon is that they move to the Hermosa/Austin/West Humboldt-ish area because they can actually afford it, and Mickey gets a mechanic job and Ian goes back to school at Malcolm X to get some medical-based associates degree or something that will let him do some sort of helping people job. Mickey actually learned Spanish while he was in Mexico (because he's not stupid and because how else was he going to get respect in the cartel) and ends up making friends with the old Puerto Rican guys that hang out in his neighborhood. They have an apartment that's not amazing but it's better than either of the falling apart houses they grew up in. They actually communicate and talk to each other and are friends and shit like that.

I know it's nitpicky as shit and the Shameless writers gave up realism and emotional interest for bullshit comedy in like series 7 or whatever but it's just so frustrating that not a single part of that storyline made sense or was at all interesting or compelling.

Hi! Do you have any fic or au ideas that you've wanted to write but haven't yet?

Hey! Sorry this took so long.

Technically most of the AUs/headcanons I have have already been written down but not posted. But I had some vague fic ideas for movies that I was never in the fandom for and haven’t written:

A crossover fic where the demon from The Exorcist and the witch from The Conjuring, in their respective human hosts, team up to, i don't know, destroy the world? (whatever demons do idk). And the priest from The Exorcist and Ed and Lorraine Warren from The Conjuring team up to try to stop them. I wrote, like, one chapter and abandoned it almost right away (because I can't write fic for movies I'm not completely hyperfixated on, for some reason).

A Jurrasic Park/Jurassic World fanfiction where science somehow found a way to make all dinosaurs more docile (even the carnivores) so they could be kept as pets. And everyone starts keeping dinosaurs as pets. And Dr. Ian Malcolm suspects that all of this is a bad idea. And, of course, he's right. And the dinosaurs end up not being as docile as was previously thought and chaos ensues. Probably including the main characters from the first movie but taking place after the newest movie (Jurassic Park: Dominion).

A fanfiction of The Ring (2002) where Samara is somehow able to exist in the living world (i don't know how that would work) and Rachel (the journalist main character) raises her like her own daughter (based on the quote from The Ring Two about Samara just wanting a mother to take care of her).

The Jurassic Park one is probably the only fic that will actually get written, because it's the only movie I love enough that I could still write fic of it. The others were just passing ideas that sounded good at one point but I don't know if I'll actually write them. The one for The Ring still sounds appealing, though. And, clearly, I haven't thought most of these through very deeply.
