I'm Not Happy with how Nearly Every Shops and Stores have More Youtube Toys like Lankybox and Mr. Beast than Transformers and Jurassic Park nowadays

(And it makes me Sad if the Children buys the Mr. Beast Toys more than Transformers too...)

Ok nope can’t not comment. the reason that they selected those particular movies as the best science fiction movies isn’t just because of the science used is sound. It’s also the premise of those movies. All of the movies above are asking a what if question. For the selected worst the question they ask is not scientifically sound, no theories or real science used. It’s really just heroes try and save the world premise not a science fiction one, and yet they’re categorized as sci-fi because they have science like things in them. They are not true sci-fi in my opinion. The movies on the good list, on the other hand, did their research and asked thought provoking questions. Take note of the top of the list: Gattaca. It asks what if in the future your genetic code determines your life and career. Then it asks follow up questions: How would you be treated if your code wasn’t perfect, how far would you go to cover your “imperfect” genes, how far can you get in a system designed to keep those with unfavorable genes separated from the ones with the good? I can keep going. everyone of the movies nasa chose as their best picks ask those kinds of questions then they back it up with relatively sound scientific research. Out of the seven top I haven’t seen numbers 5 and 6. Each of them are great examples of science fiction. Go watch them somewhere. Out of the bottom I’ve seen the core and Armageddon great action flicks but not what I’d consider science fiction. And yet because they have science and space in them they’re categorized as sci-fi. go be enlightened

I think having a baby niece is great cause my brother will send me just a constant stream of messages that sound indistinguishable from how someone at Jurassic park would text if they were being hunted by the raptor

I kind of just want to add, I didn’t see the original Jurassic Park until I was an adult - as in fairly recently - because when it came out and I was a kid I thought it would be too scary (I blame my mother’s love of Jaws and knowing the same director made them). So no nostalgia factor. And my best friend and I went to see it in the cinema last year and when we came out the first thing we said was ‘it still holds up.’

It really does. There’s like one cgi long shot that looks a bit dodgy and that’s it. Great film.

One of the greatest moments in promotional interview history was when they asked the director of Jurassic World about the discourse around that bit where that lady is picked up by pterodactyls and then eaten by a mosasaurus, and whether she "deserved" it, and you would expect most directors to go "no, that's not how it works"

But instead Colin Trevorrow casually said "she earned that fate by being a Bridezilla", and then he must have realized, saying that out loud, how bizarre that sounded, bc he doubled back and immediately said "uh it was meant to subvert the idea that characters 'earn' their death, the point is it was random", to the person he had just said "she deserved to get eaten for caring about her wedding too much" to a second prior. Absolute masterclass sir

I headcanon them as Alan and Ian being a couple, Ellie being a (married) friend, but they both love Alan very much, just in different ways. Very cute anyways.
