your tags on wakanda stucky have absolutely killed me and i thought you should just know. (they are my absolute faves nothing is better than wakanda stucky.)
agsdfahsdgfshgdf I couldn’t help it, when it comes to wakanda stucky the feels just won’t be contained
it’s just!! these boys are the Ultimate Softness Combo(TM), you know? both in looks AND in attitude
like you see them getting comfortable with their respective bodies, owning them, allowing themselves the self-indulgence of a fuzzy beard, of that luscious hair, soft soft soft both on the outside and the inside, I mean tell me this isn’t the most lavish you’ve ever seen them look. they don’t have the healthy glow, they ARE the healthy glow
and like, I know that this is just one part of the process, and they’re still struggling with their own issues ofc, but you can tell that they’re headed somewhere good here, you can FEEL that they’re finally beginning to heal, and if that doesn’t move you to tears then it’s okay, I can cry for two lol
but you know what really fudging kills me?? the fact that this is the first time they can actually BE together since like- yeah, since literal 1945. the first time they get longer than 30 seconds together without having to gear up for a fight, either against each other or against everybody else. and like, I know I’m just gonna repeat myself here, but this. please hold my hand ‘cause this shit could break me for real
just picturing it makes me cry actual tears. can you imagine it? all of their firsts, after so damn long. and I don’t just mean that in a sexual way, you know, just- all those small, trivial acts of intimacy they’ve had to go without. all the little things everybody else is allowed to share with the person they love most in the whole world
once the two of them are finally allowed to exist together, in the same space, no way the dam’s not gonna f*ckin CRUMBLE under that much love. the second they look in each other’s eyes, NO WAY the entire world’s not gonna stop for them and for them only
I BEG OF YOU, PLEASE IMAGINE. the first touch. the first caress. and yes, the first kiss too. the simple pleasure of undressing each other, and getting dressed together afterwards. the thrill of being together skin to skin, warmth to warmth, again, after years of being starved for this, years of believing this gone forever. how they would treasure each and every second of this. what kind of sweet, infinite, all-encompassing torture it must be, to feel so deeply for this one person, to love them so much it should be impossible, to contain so much emotion in your body it’s nearly painful-- and living for every drop of it.
AND ALSO
the first time lying together in the sun. the first time being lazy together, laughing together, playing like kids, teasing each other, driving each other up the wall just for the sake of it, because hasn’t this always been them? isn’t this how they have always existed, hand in hand, side by side, joke after awful joke??
and oh my god. relearning each other, body and soul; down to the smallest quirk, to the tiniest freckle
tell me Steve wouldn’t be sitting there, basking, reveling!!! in these quiet moments. secretly holding back tears at finding that some of Bucky’s old mannerism is still there, and because he still recognizes it even after decades, it’s so ingrained into him - and anything new he spots? he gets to learn it all, and isn’t that a fckin miracle
tell me he’s not going to WEEP when he realizes, the longer he’s with Bucky, the more he feels like himself too, in ways he simply hadn’t since he woke up alone in the future
it just makes me ACHE, you know, because what this really is, is- I think, I think this is the closest we get to seeing them “going home” since the war. and that’s what they’re reclaiming here too, what they’re getting back: their lover, yes, but their family too. their home.
so when you see them in infinity war, giving each other The Glittering Eye Of Love, gazing at one another with so much fondness (THE FONDNESS MAN, THE FONDNESS) -- and you can see it written all over their faces, “yes that’s him, that’s the man I love right there” -- well, I guess that’s why even this tiny little glimpse feels so powerful. because there’s an entire world behind it. as is always the case with these guys <3
#iamthe-wo-manwhocan#stucky#wakanda stucky is something that can actually be so personal#also i still maintain the lying bare-assed in the sun because of reasons lol#thank you so much for sending me this ask my friend <3#and sorry the rambles got away from me!!

just saw you reblogged the sam to bucky texts saying you're all for a stucky fic with sam eagerly befriending bucky and i have to say i'm so glad someone thinks this would make such a fun fic too. thanks for validating my silly headcanon.
Hello hello Bri!!
I did see that, I loved your tags ❤
So... I wrote a little something, but it's probably not what you were expecting. It wasn't what I had set out to write, but well... this is what took over so...
I hope you like it?
(Special thanks to @oh-i-swear-writes for the 'keep me on read' line)
Sam and Bucky - text saga:
Bucky feels his phone vibrate in his pocket and rolls his eyes.
And then it vibrates again.
And again.
And again.
He thinks about taking it out of his pocket and throwing it on the ground. And stomping it under his boot. And then punching it with his left hand, just to be sure… (these little flip phones are fucking built to last, Bucky is strangely proud of his tough little phone).
But then he wouldn’t have a phone for Steve to call him on. And lately those calls from Steve are all that’s keeping Bucky going.
He shouldn’t say that. He certainly should never let his therapist hear that. But it feels true. Steve is happy, Steve is safe. Steve is taking time that he needs, to hide away from the world, and Bucky needs to respect that right now.
And he’s there for Bucky, when he needs him.
He’s just not here here. Not quite as close in proximity as Bucky would like him to be. Out here in the world, where Bucky needs to stop hiding. Where he needs to make amends. To reintegrate. To become a person again.
To get another fucking message on his phone.
He does pull it out of his pocket, finally. Holds it up as if its very existence is offensive to him, and then flips it open. Just to be sure. To be sure that it isn’t Steve who’s texting him.
It isn’t.
It’s Sam.
He has fourteen unread messages from Samuel T Wilson.
‘For fucks sake,’ he says under his breath. Then squeezes the phone a little too tight in his right hand. Tight enough to hear a crack. And then he stops. He doesn’t really want to break it. He slowly releases it and checks to make sure its still working, the screen is still intact - it is - And then he stares at the unopened messages for a minute. Wondering if he can will them away with the power of his mind.
Alas no. Hydra had not, in their wisdom, imparted him with any powers of telekinesis. Just plain old strength and speed. And healing. And then fried him full of volts and sent him out to kill kill kill…
No. He’s not thinking about that now.
He does, reluctantly, press his finger to the button to open his texts.
Its a fucking onslaught...
Samuel T Wilson: Hey Buck, just wondering if you’re free for dinner. My sister Sarah’s a great cook… just saying.
Samuel T Wilson: Hey Buck, so dinner is still on offer, never too late to reply.
Samuel T Wilson: Okay, so - and only because its all already gone - it is now too late to reply. But its a standing invite okay? Dinner at Sarah’s every Sunday.
Samuel T Wilson: I forgot to say, you can just show up, you don't even have to reply.
Samuel T Wilson: Or maybe, I mean… okay. So I was just wondering - is it too much? With the whole family? I get that that could be too much.
Samuel T Wilson: we could grab a beer
Samuel T Wilson: or watch the game
Samuel T Wilson: whichever game - I don’t know whether sport is your thing.
Samuel T Wilson: Or we could talk
Samuel T Wilson: Or not talk
Samuel T Wilson: Not talking is fine. Totally fine.
Samuel T Wilson: you have that stoic, stone cold badass thing happening, I get it.
Samuel T Wilson: Listen, its okay, you can leave me on read. I wont push im just… the offer is there okay?
Samuel T Wilson: Oh did I tell you this new kid, Torres, says people think Steve is on the moon? You believe that?
‘Ha!’ Bucky lets out a huff of laughter at the last text. ‘Really?’
He wonders if its true, that people really think that. Then he looks back over the preceding thirteen messages again and shakes his head.
How he managed to get on Sam’s good side he’ll never know. He barely knows him. Which is entirely by his own design, he knows that.
Steve may have asked Sam to keep an eye on Bucky while he’s hiding away in wherever he's trekked to this week… but Sam has better things to do than babysit Bucky’s grumpy ass.
He’s too good a man, too full of light and love for his family for Bucky to let him get too close. For Bucky’s special brand of toxicity to seep into his life and eat at it from the inside out…
Sam is too good a man to be wasting his time on Bucky…
It wouldn't be a waste of Bucky's time though, to get to know Sam. To let Sam in.
Sam is the kind of good man that Bucky could learn from. The kind of man that Steve would trust his shield to. The kind of man that could help Bucky see all the ways this world might be able to use him again. Give him somewhere to fit.
As a friend. A colleague.
As family.
He's thinking about that. Not about what Sam deserves, but what Bucky deserves. How much more he might deserve if he were to be more like Sam - more open and affable and genuine - when the phone rings.
And he's distracted enough that he answers it without thinking.
'Hello?'
'Buck!'
'Bucky,' Bucky says, instinctively, because only Steve gets to call him Buck.
'Bucky,' Sam corrects himself, 'You picked up!'
'I did.' Bucky doesn't have the heart to tell him it was an accident.
'You ah… free tonight?'
It's funny actually, that Sam, who is always so charming and charismatic, suddenly sounds so nervous.
It touches something in Bucky, that such a little thing, spending time with someone as useless and broken as Bucky, might be worth something to a man like Sam. Enough for him to be nervous about it.
'Yeah, I'm free.'
'Really?' Sam says, his voice pitched high and happy, 'Well that's… I mean, are you maybe interested in catching up?' he asks. 'With me?' He adds quickly.
'Sure, we could watch the game.'
'Which game?'
'I don't know, I don't what games there are.'
'Oh, well there's basketball tonight? Wizards are playing the hornet's,' Sam says, growing less hesitant, voice deepening into something richer.
'Wizards aren't real.'
'It's the team name, Bucky, Washington Wizards.'
'Oh right, any good?' Bucky asks, at this point just to keep him talking. Sam has the kind of voice that settles something in Bucky, something deep in his chest. It's the kind of voice that can sooth. Heal.
Its a good voice.
'Friend, you haven't seen a real shooting guard until you've seen Bradley Beal.'
'Well then I guess I'll have to check it out.'
'Want me to come to you? Bring some beers?'
Bucky looks around his apartment. At the total lack of furniture. Or food. Or anything resembling a home.
'How bout I come to you?'
And Sam can no doubt hear the edge in Buckys voice, but he doesn't mention it. 'Sure. Easy.'
'I can bring sushi,' Bucky offers.
There's a pause, and Bucky is ready to take it back, apologise. Maybe sushi is a terrible idea.
'Soft shell crab?' Sam asks, and Bucky laughs.
'It's my favourite.'
'Well alright! Games at seven.'
'See you then, and hey,'
'Yeah?'
'Thanks, Sam.'
'Uh huh. Just bring me my crab and I'll be happy.'
Bucky hears the connection cut out and can't help but smile. Sushi and basketball. Might not be so horrible.
He closes his phone and then flips it back open to call Steve.
Its very important that he a) makes him jealous about the soft shell crab sushi and b) makes him jealous that he's missing out on spending time with Sam.
It might even be enough to lure him back out of hiding. Give Bucky a reason to buy some furniture.
Maybe this will be a win win for Bucky. And Maybe…
Maybe he deserves that.

for the ask game: I wish you would write a fic where... steve and bucky reunite with one of the howlies in modern times? maybe? <3
Hello my friend, thank you for the ask!! <3
THIS IS ACTUALLY ALREADY A WIP OF MINE and the idea is it starts during the war, and it's the howlies frantically trying to get stevebucky together, and stevebucky being oblivious idiots, and then i was gonna bring them all to the future and have them still badgering steve, and then when bucky shows up too...i haven't written the modern part yet, but have a little wartime excerpt anyways, because you have reawakened my excitement!!!
“God fucking hell, your country really is shit,” Barnes says to no one in particular, but there’s only one of them who’s currently a native, and it doesn’t take a genius to figure who.
Monty rolls his eyes and calls across to the other tree, “I’m sure the forests of wonderful America are never rainy and cold.”
“Do I look like I frequent forests?” Barnes says, voice muffled, like he’s covering his face up with his hands. Dum Dum tried that yesterday; it doesn’t do much in the way of warmth, and there’s only so long you can go with the smell of whatever garbage is left on your hands. Not worth it.
“Don’t get me started on what you look like,” comes Rogers’ voice, harder to hear because it’s so deep.

Hello! I really enjoy your blog and writing on ao3! I can't get this out of my head, and was wondering if you've got any thoughts on it. What do you think would have happened if Thor had been around during Civil War? (To help Steve, presumably, but then again you might have a different take!) Thanks!
Thanks so much! I love these types of asks!
First off, Thor would absolutely help Steve if he had been around for Civil War. He knows what it's like to follow foolish orders (Odin) and he would be of the opinion that if people need his help, he's not going to stand around waiting for permission to act. Also, he's literally a prince from another world. Midgardians have no right or authority to tell him what he can and cannot do.
He would also how Steve would feel about saving his friend, especially after he was framed for a crime he didn't commit. Although he's never met Bucky, he remembers the lengths he went through to bring Loki back to Asgard.
Secondly, if Thor had been around, the odds would've been stacked in Steve's favor, even considering Tony brought Peter on board (a fact I'm still salty about but that's for another post). The battle at the airport would've been hella one sided. Thor would probably pull his punches... but only slightly. He would probably also try to reason with Tony, Natasha, and Vision the way Steve tried to do before Tony got impatient and attacked. He wouldn't succeed, ultimately, and he would probably simply go for the arc reactor to cripple Tony's ability to fight.
As far as Peter is concerned, Thor always appreciates a challenge. He would find Peter's powers fascinating and his habit of making banter during a fight amusing. Thor would definitely approve of him. After he beats Peter, he would tap him encouragingly on the shoulder and tell him to keep training and that he has potential. Peter would probably gush a bit (headcanon that Peter's celebrity crush is Thor as evidenced by the look on his face when Starlord says Thor isn't good-looking in Infinity War).
Between Thor being on the team and Natasha secretly helping Steve, there's likely no way Steve's team wouldn't have won outright. Steve and Bucky would have reached Siberia, the rest of the team would've escaped rather than gone to prison, and Tony would've been incapacitated until he could get another arc reactor. Zemo's plan would likely have failed without causing a bigger falling out between Steve and Tony, and Steve could find a to break what Bucky did to Tony's parents gently rather than have it dropped on him the way it was.
So all in all, I think that the reason Civil War was the absolute clusterfuck it was is due to the fact that Thor wasn't there. Thanks again for the question!

daisy for 25 flower asks? <3
Oooh yay! Thank you lovely!
Daisy (favourite childhood memory): less one specific memory and more a conglomeration. 😃 Times in my favourite part of the West Highlands of Scotland, on beaches or exploring/scrambling over rocks on my own, or lost in my own little world in the back of the car listening to folk music or Sting or Tori Amos tapes on my Walkman*, watching the scenery and letting the music be part of it. Or that time I was walking some way behind my parents on the path on the edge of a ring dyke (the old old caldera of a huge and ancient (and very extinct!) volcano), and it had just started to rain, and a herd of red deer ran down the slope right in front of me. It was faintly hair-raising (they are *big*), but it was also magical.
Or the time we were on the top of a hill where there's a lochan (tiny lake), black with peat, and the mist was closing in, and a red-throated diver (beautiful bird) flew down and landed on the lochan in front of us.
Or waking up early in the caravan we stayed in, watching out of the window to the field of sheep behind, and listening to them greet the sunrise. 😊
I had a very... mixed childhood, to say the least. Not a happy family. But that place just fed my soul. Still does, when i get to go there. 😊
*Yes, I'm *that* old. 😉

Number 2 and 8 from 50 Questions Just Because? (Because I love socks and collectibles.)
I also love socks and collectibles, so thank you for these!
2. Describe your favorite pair of socks
I have a lot (and I mean a lot) of fun long socks with funky patterns and little animals and stuff, but I have this exact pair of socks and it's my absolute favorite:
8. Do you collect anything? If so, what?
I go in phases of what I collect. For a while when I traveled I collected anything with a banana on it (like postcards with bananas on them, banana earrings, pictures of banana graffiti, etc), and then for a while I collected the same stuff but with frogs, and when I was younger I would collect Schleich animals when I went to Germany every year. The only thing that I consistently still do is I pick my favorite rubbing stone (like one you can hold and roll around in your hand) from wherever I go and take that home with me, so I have a jar of stones from around the world (and of course now I have no clue which stones are from where)
send me an ask?

On this list you will find 20 Stucky fics that I believe could use a little bit more love. There are so many hidden gems out there and this is a small selection of them. I hope people give these fic a chance so they get the appreciation I believe they deserve.
1. no use speaking in absolutes by dontcallmebree @iamthe-wo-manwhocan [Stucky, 1k words, Mature]
The voice echoes in his mind: “Once a killer, always a killer.” He can’t even remember who had said it, exactly. Maybe it was someone on his so-called team, or maybe it was a stranger he had passed on the street. Steve can’t tell the difference anymore. Steve returns to what he does best: Proving everyone wrong.
2. Pretty Boy by papesdontsellthemselves @turtle-steverogers [Stucky, 1,9k words, Explicit]
In which Steve is a tease and Bucky doesn't let him get away with it.
-
Written for this ask on tumblr: Bucky has a lingerie kink and will absolutely lose higher brain function if Steve wears any - I don’t make the rules 😌✨
3. You’re trying (not) to tell him that you love him by emilywithoutY @between-a-ship-and-a-hard-place [Stucky, 1,7k words, General]
Five times Steve Rogers almost told Bucky Barnes he loved him and one time Bucky said it first.
4. any day of the week by glim @glim [Stucky, 1k words, General]
"I like making you breakfast," Bucky says. His fingers sift through Steve's hair and he makes a thoughtful noise at the back of his throat when Steve pulls away from him. "What? I always used to bring you breakfast in bed."
5. forever ain't half the time by its_tortle @its-tortle [Stucky, 2,3k words, Teen]
The day continues as it began, slow, warm, kind. The days with Steve in Wakanda all feel that way. It’s serenity, as if they’re encased in a bubble, a perfect little world where everything feels molten and dipped in sunlight.
OR
i got this prompt: 'It’s not as if this hasn’t been done before but man could I go for some Wakanda Bucky, Nomad Steve, and cute ass goats. 😩 Just some cute recovering gays amiright 🥺'
6. Even Adventurers Stop to Rest by HeliosNerd [Stucky, 3,7k words, General]
It's been a year since Steve's mom passed. Despite Bucky's best efforts, Steve is sinking further and further into some kind of sickness he's never seen before. So he does what any good friend would do: he brings Steve books. Only the latest book, "The Hobbit," seems to help.
Stucky one-shot! Content warning: references to depression/grief.
7. Let's dance by rainbow_nerds [Stucky, 615 words, Mature]
Steve never used to like dancing before the war. Now, in this new century, it's almost unrecognisable. He likes it a lot more now.
AU-gust Day 4: Dancing Steve Rogers Bingo square A2: Dancing
8. For a Good Cause by Brumeier [Stucky, 570 words, Teen]
LJ Comment Fic for Fluffy prompt: any, any, dog walking for the local shelter
In which Bucky and Steve volunteer at an animal shelter, but Bucky needs more.
9. A Sketch, A Coffee, A Kiss by sergeantbee [Stucky, 2,4k words, Teen]
Steve has always loved to draw Bucky, maybe not always for innocent reasons. He always repressed those feelings back in the forties, but now it was ok to love whoever you wanted. It's just a question of whether his best friend feels the same...
10. From This Day Forward by Politzania [Stucky, 1,6k words, Teen]
“Buck, you awake?” Bucky wasn’t even supposed to be here. Wasn’t supposed to be in officer country, much less in Steve’s tent and sure as hell not in Steve’s bed, naked as the day he was born. But Steve was right there and just as naked, so it was okay. Maybe even perfect.
11. Nobody Darns Their Socks Anymore by dottieapple [Stucky, 3,9k words, Mature]
A slice of the softer life in Wakanda for Bucky Barnes, who misses his best guy when he's out Nomad-ing about. A Happy Steve Bingo 2018 entry, featuring knitting, with a sexy happy ending for our Brooklyn boys.
Rated M for language, euphemisms, hints at sexual situations pre-war, some playful "Daddy kink" language without explicit smut.
12. And I Love The Thought Of Coming Home To You by Nospheratt [Stucky, 2,2k words, Teen]
Steve stands at the other side of the small table, his furious blush half-hidden behind an enormous bouquet of wildflowers.
Like the romantic hero from one of the fluffy fics Bucky reads while he’s away on missions.
Like Steve in so many of the fluffy fics Bucky reads when he’s alone with his wildest dreams. The nights when his chest is a dark void of longing and missing things he’s never had.
“For you,” Steve blurts, thrusting the bouquet across the table, towards Bucky.
13. Safe by MakingPoetry [Stucky, 2,4k words, General]
No one had ever said that their new life together was going to be easy, and it wasn't. For the first few weeks, Bucky didn't even sleep in the bed in the spare room; he slept on the floor, bundled up in a blanket or two, a weapon either in his hand or within reach.
14. Bombs by b_a_r_n_e_s @b-a-r-n-e-s [Stucky, 400 words, General]
One of the greatest strategic minds of all time, and he can’t clean as he goes.
15. Wild West Yearly by unremarkable @otp-holic [Stucky, 6,3k words, General]
Five Halloweens when Bucky worked their situation into an excerpt of a Dime Novel, and the one Halloween he didn’t feel like he needed to.
or
The Westen AU with less action and more “slice of life” and fluff known to fandom.
16. Florescence Series by AllegedlyAnn @allegedlyann [Stucky, 12,9k words, General to Mature]
(summary from Florescence: Seed)
“I hope your arm continues to heal well, Your Highness.”
Startled, Bucky turned around to see Captain Rogers walk towards him. An easy smile on his ridiculously handsome face with that stupid fucking awesome beard and beautiful blue eyes. Not to mention that he was only wearing a white linen shirt with his upper buttons undone, allowing Bucky to get a glimpse of his curly chest hair.
The fucking commander of the Stark Army that had fished Bucky out of the burning forest a good week ago like he was a stupid damsel in distress was practically walking around the city as good as naked. Without a care in the world!
17. On The Back Of A Raindrop by musette22 @musette22 [Stucky, 52,2k words, Explicit]
Despite the fact that Steve Rogers’ life hasn't always been a bed of roses, he’s fortunate enough to have a lot of good things to call his own. He has a loving mother, two wonderful kids, marvelous friends, and a beautiful house with a big, sprawling yard, to name but a few. One thing Steve does not have, however, is green fingers. One late spring morning, Steve decides to call in the help of a local gardening company to restore his yard to its former glory. When gorgeous gardener Bucky Barnes shows up on his doorstep the next day, he unwittingly upturns not only Steve’s yard, but his life, too. Over the course of the summer, it’s more than just the garden that begins to blossom.
18. Together Again by MARVELous_mayhem [Stucky, 3,3k words, Teen]
Steve and Bucky are finally reunited, after Captain America rescues the 107th from Schmidt's factory. Steve loses himself in his sketchbook to cope with everything that's happened since joining the Army, and soon finds that his art can help his best friend, too.
19. the purest devotion in me by this_wayward_life @wayward-lives [Stucky, 1,1k words, Mature]
Even after all these years, Bucky doesn't fully understand why Steve chose him of all people. Why Steve, at thirty-five and in the prime of his life, looked at twenty-three-year-old Bucky, fresh out of college and still with baby fat clinging to his jaw and hips, and fell in love. Sure, Steve's managed to fuck and spoil most of the self-doubt out of Bucky over the past six years, but sometimes Bucky still wonders. Even now, when Bucky's grown into his skin and Steve's beard is showing more silver than it used to, Bucky doubts his worth. Never Steve, though - there's no way for him to look at Steve and see anything but fierce love and devotion staring back.
20. The FBI’s Most (Un)Wanted by dreamsinthewitchouse @dreamsinthewitchouse [Stucky, 3,9k words, Mature]
Special agent Rogers is brilliant, driven and very bad at following rules, and unfortunately his eccentric ways and outlandish beliefs have made him an outcast in the Bureau. The only person who seems to respect him is his partner, special agent Barnes — a man who doesn’t even believe in all the things Rogers believes in.
James Barnes, however, believes in Steve Rogers.

I’ve put together a list of my top fics and authors! It might be edited and added onto as I continue to discover more lovely works!
Top Picks:
The Island Man by Amber_Skye (84k, Gen)
SHIELD never finds Captain America.
But one spring, the Valkyrie melts anyway, and Steve Rogers wakes up in the ice, alone.
time on my hands (could be time spent with you) by thedoubteriswise (23k, Mature)
"You doing okay, kid?”
Steve releases a breath, deciding how honest he wants to be. No point in lying. No point in telling the truth, either. "Glad to see you."
"That’s not what I asked, but same to you, punk."
Learn Me Hard Oh, Learn Me Right by AHM1121 (60k, Explicit)
“Have you always struggled with math, Steve?” Dr. Potts asked.
The blush crept higher as the same shame that he had felt since the second grade crawled up his spine.
“You’re not the only one.” She assured, handing the papers back to him. “Luckily, you can get one-on-one tutoring at the student center, your tuition covers two sessions per week.”
“Thank you ma’am.” Steve accepted the paper and stood, sliding his backpack over his shoulders. Making his way out of her office he paused when she called his name. “Ma’am?”
“Ask for Bucky Barnes.” Her lips turned up at the name. “He’s one of the math majors that I oversee, haven’t had a student work with him who hasn’t passed.”
No pressure, Steve thought. “I’ll make sure to do that. Thank you Dr. Potts.”
“Good luck Steve.”
He didn’t need luck, he needed a miracle.
4 Minute Window by Speranza (24k, Explicit)
"Look, if they catch me," Bucky muttered, "they're either going to kill me or they're going to put me in a box with a little window and—Steve, I can't."
Stucky:
Details In The Fabric by Raptor_Squad (58k, Explicit)
The most humbling lesson the universe has to teach is this: all things start small.
Bucky's been out of HYDRA's grasp for two years, he remembers his life, he's making peace with himself, and he's carved his own space in Avengers tower. It's a good life, he thinks.
The most honest lesson the universe has to teach is this: all things start small.
Of all people, it's Tony, who posits that maybe Steve isn't as okay as he would have everyone believe. Of all people, it isn't Bucky who realizes that Steve doesn't really smile anymore.
The most extraordinary lesson the universe has to teach is this: all things start small.
It's bits and pieces of hearts lost to war. It's second and third and fourth and fifth chances. It's SteveandBucky and BuckyandSteve. It's them.

Retirement hasn't been easy for Steve. He has good days and bad days. This is one of his bad days. His bad days aren't so bad with Bucky.
I Can Fly Us Both by Kellyscams (5k, Mature)
For the past year or so, Steve's been Bucky's rock, his support, his shoulder to cry on. But now that Bucky's doing so much better, he's noticed something. Steve is in need of just as much support -- needs a rock and a shoulder to cry on. If he'll let someone in.

They tell him he was a soldier, a leader—a hero.
He doesn’t know if he believes them.
Fresh out of the ice with no recollection of his past, Steve Rogers strikes out on his own and tries to cobble together a life worthy of the clean slate he’s been given.
Innocent Until by L1av (136k, Explicit) (@buckmebxrnes)
Bucky Barnes made a name for himself as the attorney who could get anyone off, but he still lives by the saying, "Innocent until proven guilty." Steve Rogers finds himself on trial for multiple homicides but he swears he was only trying to protect a girl. Bucky's been in this business long enough to know when someone's innocent, and Steve is innocent. Steve already feels like a monster and Bucky's worried this guy's going to lay himself on the sword come his trial. So Bucky offers up another course for punishment:
Turns out, chains and whips really excite Steve.
As You Seep On In And Keep Me Down by thiccbuckybarnes (8k, Explicit)
Bucky Barnes is a man of many names.
But first and foremost, he’s an ass man. He likes his guys small, able to be bent in half when he fucks them. He likes being bigger, being in control, likes crowding little twinks up and wrecking them so thoroughly they cry.
But he makes the wrong judgement when he first sees Steve in a bar; Steve’s all height, wide shoulders and muscle, clearly wouldn’t want the things that Bucky wants. It isn’t until he sees Steve shrink up from rejection, sees how pretty his cheeks look in an embarrassed flush, that he realizes that Steve is everything he wants.
It’s a good thing, too, when Steve gives him a second chance because if he hadn’t, Bucky would have missed out on the meal of his life.

“Mornin’,” Steve says.

a desert in my heart and nowhere to hide by endofadream (3k, Explicit)
Steve struggles to push himself upright, already muttering, “Sorry, sorry, sorry,” and stops when Bucky’s metal hand clamps down onto the back of his neck. It’s hardly more than its usual gentle hold, but immediately Steve melts, tension leeching from his body even as his heart pounds in his chest.
Bucky draws in a ragged breath behind him. “Is that what you want?” he asks after a pause.

Steve Rogers is a man out of time, in a city that used to be his home, a city he no longer recognizes. Through charming radio host, Bucky Barnes, he relearns his city, adopts a dog, and falls in love.
You Wear Your Ruins Well by LizzieHarker (7k, Gen)
Steve found himself in Bucky’s arms, tucked beneath his chin. Hot tears stained his face and Bucky wiped at them with his thumb, pressing his lips to Steve’s head. “C’mon, Stevie. Talk to me. Please.”
The tension in his chest broke, unleashing the ocean he’d kept contained since the ice melted from his skin. “How do you do this?” Steve sobbed, burying his face against Bucky’s chest, hand twisting the fabric of his shirt. “I don’t understand. How do you do this?” The misery came, torrent and rip current, unstoppable.
Bucky’s arms tightened and Steve sagged, the tears flowing endlessly now that he’d started. Buck drew circles up and down Steve’s back, whispering reassurance, taking Steve’s weight and holding on. By the time he’d finished, cried himself out entirely, Steve’s head throbbed, his eyes achy and his nose stuffed up. Bucky’s shirt had soaked through and Steve lay uncomfortably against it. The other man didn’t move, didn’t let go, didn’t push him away. Drawing a shaky breath, Steve looked up at Bucky, who looked back down at him. “I think I’m in trouble, Buck.”
Holding On by ClaraxBarton (42k, Explicit)
Steve Rogers had survived more than he cared to remember.
Polio. Scarlet Fever. Pneumonia. A bum heart.
Basic training. Hydra. Nazis. Chorus Girls. World War II.
A plane crash. Kind of.
An alien invasion.
It seemed, however, that the thing that would finally kill Steve Rogers would be as mundane as it was ridiculous.
“Your poll numbers are way down, and we need to get them back up.”
Poll numbers.
Because, apparently in 2013, public opinion about Steve Rogers and his performance as Captain America mattered more than his actual performance as Captain America.
Last week, Steve and Natasha had taken out a terrorist cell with plans to blow up the Eiffel Tower, and the only casualty had been the broken arm of one bad guy because he tried to cop a feel and Natasha hadn’t been in the mood to watch Steve get his pec squeezed.
But this week?
This week, his poll numbers were way down.

"I want to know," Steve barreled on, terrified that if he didn't get started now he would never say it. "I want know your fantasies, what you want to do with me, the things that make you feel warm and even the things that make you feel a little dirty. But I also want to know what your favorite breakfast is so I can cook it for you when you have a bad night and what your favorite color is so I can paint every wall with it. I want to hold your hand and bring you flowers at work and kiss you on the street. I want to stand on every rooftop in Brooklyn and tell the world how much I love you. I'm not used to being allowed to want that."

She retaliates by putting her feet on the dashboard. He gives her a sour look, but says nothing.

There’s a picture of Steve Rogers from when he was small, 14-years-old and smiling a grin of bloody teeth.
They’d been fooled, misinterpreted the scorching look in that picture as anything less than dangerous. That smile, cracked lips and bloody tongue licking at the split skin, jaw dark and swollen, was not the righteousness they thought it was.
It was righteous, sure, but full of anger. It was wrath—a promise.
A prophecy.

Lauren! For the fanfiction writer asks: 8, 41, and 9) In your xxx (any) fic, what’s your favourite scene that you wrote? <3
Bri! Thanks for making me actually think about my writing <3
8. Where do you take your inspiration from?
Lord, I wish I had a good answer to this. I get a lot of inspiration from music, which is why I normally have song lyrics at the beginning of chapters for my longer fics. Other times, my brain just throws something at me, and it's usually angsty, and I've never asked for it, but it means I have something to write, so that's cool I guess.
41. What's your favorite minor character you've written?
In my fic If It Had To Be Someone, I Guess I'm Okay That It's You, I wrote Clint Barton for the first time, and holy shit, I did not expect to have that much fun with the garbage can dumpster fire. (go read it, seriously. It's one I regularly reread and am blown away by the fact that I wrote this)
9. What's your favorite scene you've written
Again, this is from my fic If It Had To Be Someone, I Guess I'm Okay That It's You and I'm sorry, this scene is a little long, but I'm so proud of it. I'll put the later 2/3 or so behind a read more
Bucky wanted to reach out to comfort Steve, but he couldn’t do more than take his hands out of his pockets. Steve still stared at his fisted hand.
“That’s the part I remember the most. She never cried in front of me. Not even when we lowered the empty casket. It was just like this part of her had been scooped away and as much as I tried, I couldn’t fill that void. Less than a year later, I was watching her be buried, too. I had this thought that if someone can make you lose that much of yourself, I never wanted it. My mind got loud and I got angry. I got in trouble, spent a few nights behind bars which only made me angrier. When they released me, I turned that anger into my art and turned my art into my voice and everything was going as expected and then-”
“And then you met me.” Bucky’s voice was gravelly.
Steve nodded. “I covered the mark because it reminded me of everything it had taken from me.”
“So why isn’t it covered now?”
Steve finally lifted his gaze and met Bucky’s. Bucky always forgot how much expression they held. Steve moved his hand so it covered Bucky’s. It was all he could do not to jump at the touch.
“Because you make everything go quiet.”
And then Steve’s lips were against his and Bucky had never known a kiss could taste that desperate. It was anger and confusion and hope and fear. It was Bucky’s existence compressed into a singular touch and he had the thought that maybe he and Steve were the same in a way. They ran away because it made everything simpler, not understanding that running became addictive, not understanding that stopping was harder than starting, not understanding that everything has the ability to haunt.
Everybody knows the way to stop ghosts is to salt and burn the bones, but what happens when the bones have been buried so deep reaching them means releasing ghosts he’d forgotten existed?
He was on the precipice of a crumbling mountain, shovel in hand, looking down at the abyss. All he needed to do was jump. He pulled away, resting their foreheads together. His left hand was still in Steve’s.
“Let me in,” Steve whispered. “You’re exhausted. Let me hold you up for a little while.”
Bucky’s swallow caught in his dry throat. “My parents aren’t soulmates. They were an arranged marriage to increase the prosperity of both families.” His voice was barely stronger than a whisper. “As a kid, I dreamed about finding my person. I dreamed what my soulmark would look like and drew it all the time. I was seven when dad found them.”
Bucky remembered how he’d cried that night, face pressed into his pillow so he wouldn't be heard. Steve rubbed his thumb across Bucky’s knuckles.
“Mom managed to save one of them. It was the one I’d been most proud of and I’d shown it to her one night when dad was gone. I remember her taking me onto her lap and telling me that I’d find them someday. She didn’t want what she had for me. I know she still dreams of love.” He still dreamed of her finally being happy one day.
“Then came the car accident. I lost my arm and I spent years being terrified that you were dead. Things got worse at home. I learned that keeping things in boxes made life easier, so I put that drawing and any hope I had left into one and shoved it away. The boxes piled up and Dad yelled less. Things calmed down. You couldn’t call what we were happy, but we were a normal family to anyone looking in.
“I got accepted to West Point, met Natasha, met my ex. I left West Point, found my ex cheating on me and then I met you and every single box I’d perfectly packed away shifted.”
He stood on the precipice. It would be so easy to step off, and that’s what terrified him. For half of his life, he’d known exactly what to expect. His father taught him what happened when he wasn’t prepared. Pierce took advantage of it.
He wanted to trust Steve. He wanted to jump.
He closed his eyes and imagined a young Steve watching his parents laugh. He imagined all three of them dancing around the living room.
The thing about boxes and towers was that all it took was the right pressure for it to all crumble. The thing about boxes and towers was that even if they were buried deep for years, the things they contained still existed the same as the day they were packed away.
In his mind, a seven year old handed him a drawing of his soulmark. He hadn’t gotten it right, but it was the dream it represented that mattered. Bucky looked at his hand, yellow lines glowing softly in the fading light. He looked at Steve, who waited patiently, all his hopes and fears laid out in those blue, blue eyes.
And he jumped.

Stucky Fic Rec List #29
Tuesday, January 25
🍓Kitchen - Hallway by AustinB - [Gen; 1,9k words]
[Canon Divergence; Friends to Lovers; Mutual Pining; Requited Unrequited Love; First Kiss; Happy Ending]
"Why don't you want to live with me?" If he wanted his space or his independence, he'd have said so before, not the infinitely more vulnerable, "I don't think it would be a good idea."
Bucky seems surprised; not in his features, but in the length of time it takes him to answer. Finally, "I can't. I wouldn't want to—to make you uncomfortable."
It hits Steve like a punch to the gut.
Wouldn't want to walk down the hall in a towel after a shower and risk Steve popping an inappropriate boner, now would we? He might spontaneously burst into big gay flames, poor soul.
🥖Too Tempting Not to Touch by @iamthe-wo-manwhocan - [Teen; 1,2k words]
[Shrunkyclunks; Retired Steve Rogers; Streaking; Meet-Cute; Height Difference; Flirting; Fluff and Humour]
Steve’s been living upstate coming up on seven years now, and he’s never once had an intruder.
Maybe he should’ve seen it coming, given how large his land is. Someone’s bound to wander through sooner or later, either lost or on a wayward hike. He just never thought that someone would be bare-ass naked.
Steve finds that living by the woods attracts some—interesting surprise visitors.
🌼 How we rolled up the carpet so we could dance by @rohkeutta, art by @sulasaferoom - [Explicit; 7,8k words]
[Canon Divergence; Established Relationship; Canon-Typical Violence; Porn With Feelings; Protective Steve Rogers; Bucky Barnes as Captain America; Bucky Barnes Feels; Hurt/Comfort; Angst; Body Worship; Rimming; Anal Sex; Bottom!Bucky; Cuddling & Snuggling]
Steve’s already showered and changed into sweats and a tank top, his hair still sticking up in cowlicks. When Bucky drags himself to the couch, still in his uniform with soot on his face, Steve takes one look at him in the soft glow of the living room lamp and opens his arms.
Bucky drops the shield on the floor and crawls over Steve’s legs to collapse on top of him, tucks his face under Steve’s chin and exhales. “Jesus fucking Christ.”
🌙 Over the Moon by NeverAndAlways - [Mature; 3,3k words]
[Canon Divergence; Established Relationship; Mpreg; Trans Bucky Barnes; Pregnant Bucky Barnes; Graphic Childbirth; Protective Steve Rogers]
Exactly what it says in the tags.

[Modern AU; Sports AU; Olympics; Friends to Lovers; Slow Burn; Pining; Fluff and Smut; Hurt/Comfort; Insecure Bucky Barnes; Protective Steve Rogers; Resolved Sexual Tension; Eventual Smut; Happy Ending]
Bucky is a diver stuck in a rut. His synchro partner treats him like a deadweight and his coach keeps threatening to cut him from the team. After his spectacular failure in the FINA World Diving Championships, he’s ready to take a break from the sport. And then he meets Steve, a brilliant newcomer to the competitive diving scene in search of a synchro partner.
🍅 a friend with seed is a friend indeed by @rohkeutta - [Explicit; 1,7k words]
[Canon Divergence; Established Relationship; Gardens & Gardening; Fluff and Humour; Explicit Sexual Content; Bottom!Bucky; Bad Jokes; Dorks in Love]
Steve’s trying to go for a run. He really is.
But Bucky’s sorting his planting paraphernalia at the dining table, his coffee half-forgotten near his elbow: empty food cartons he’s washed and collected carefully for months to wait for the right time, the flat little bags of seed with overly saturated photos of vegetables and flowers printed on them.
🌞 Not Bad (for the End of the World) by relenafanel - [Teen; 2,4k words]
[Canon Divergence; Friends to Lovers; Wakanda; Recovering Bucky; Attraction; Feelings Realisation; First Kiss]
[the more I look at the stucky Infinity War hug the more it exudes this raw BFFs who are a little nervous around each other now because they’re weirdly into each other’s new looks mood]
Bucky comes in from a day of work to get ready for an impending war, blow-dries his hair, has a small crisis over his nascent attraction for Steve. Just usual Bucky Barnes things.
🌶️ Good morning by Trans-bucky - [Explicit; 4,5k words]
[Modern AU; Established Relationship; PWP; Age Difference; Sugar Daddy Steve; Daddy Kink; Dom/Sub Undertones; Blow Jobs; Face-Fucking; Anal Fingering; Anal Sex; Bottom!Bucky; Orgasm Control; Begging]
Steve turned in his arms, reaching up with one of his large hands to grab the back of Bucky’s head, his hair pulled tight in his fingers. Bucky instantly felt like his legs had turned to jelly. He let out a little whimpering sound, which only made Steve tighten his grip.
🥂come on, just do it (do it til it feels alright) by @kickflaw - [Explicit; 6,1k words]
[Modern AU; Established Relationship; Secret Relationship; CEO Steve Rogers; Intern Bucky Barnes; Silver Fox Steve Rogers; Holiday Party; Age Difference; Power Dynamics; Semi-Public Sex; Possessive Behaviour; Jealousy; Dom/Sub Undertones; Blow Jobs; Dirty Talk; Facials; Come Marking; Implied Bottom!Bucky]
Jesus, anyone could decide to walk in at any moment. Anyone could open those doors and there wouldn't be enough time for he and Steve to separate. They'd be discovered, necking like teenagers, all intertwined disarray, violating at least a dozen human resources codes and regulations.
Bucky didn't care.
He wanted to grind against Steve's hard, huge dick until he came. He wanted to drop to his knees and mouth at Steve's cock through his bespoke Burberry slacks. He wanted Steve's rough palms all over him, and if he couldn't stay quiet, Steve would just have to make him.
