For Reasons Wretched and Divine
Chapter 1: “Run.”
“On your left,” Steve huffed, because once a little punk, always a little punk, and he liked seeing folks’ reactions.

S, have you ever found a boy pussy steve fic?
I have-!
They're very few and far between, but...
"Rehearsal" by Scotland_Axel (two notes, (a) this is a samsteve fic and (b) this is specifically intersex Steve fic)
"Tie Me Down, Drive Me Crazy" by Scotland_Axel (this fic has the same notes from above, it's from the same series, lol)
"Body Heat Radio" by HandsAcrossTheSea (this fic is part of a larger AU with intersex Steve AND intersex Bucky, however, this is the only fic that includes Steve having his pussy used, so... it's probably the closest to what you're looking for!)
Other than that, I haven't really come across any pussy Steve fics, unfortunately.
Eventually, I should probably do something about that, huh? Maybe once I'm done with my series or next summer or something... 👀 the idea goes on the list then...

FIC REC WEEK 12 – OTHER MARVEL SHIPS
STEVE/SAM
Not the Destination by KiaraSayre
Pairing: Steve/Sam Rating: NR Words: 8,007 Tags: Road Trips, Demi Steve, Armchair Therapy
Summary: Before they leave New York, Tony Stark (Tony Stark, Jesus, Sam's not over it, never ever over it) hands him an AmEx Black and says, "Don't let Cap spend it all on egg creams and quarters for the jukebox." "That is exactly what I'm gonna do," Sam says. "Egg creams and jukeboxes, nonstop. That's how we roll."
Reasons why I love it: All the fluffy feels! I love Sam basically coaching Steve into a bit of happiness, and I'm so happy that Steve is the one to finally take that last (first?) step. This whole fic is so sweet, and I adore all the stops they make along the way, the progression feels so natural. So yeah, it's fantastic, and I highly recommend it!
Closer to flying by Odsbodkins
Pairing: Steve/Sam Rating: M Words: 2,405 Tags: First Time, Canon Adjacent, Past Steve/Bucky
Summary: Sam Wilson had thought he had excellent gaydar. The sort of neighborhood he grew up in, then the military, a near-flawless gaydar was a survival essential. He was going to have to revise it to “has excellent gaydar in person”. Because he had never had the slightest inkling that Captain America might be gay.
Reasons why I love it: Steve being an experienced gay icon, we stan. I love the Steve Rogers is Not A Virgin trope, and this fic does it incredibly well. I also really enjoyed the hopeful note that this fic ends on. It's fantastic, and I hope you go and check it out for yourself!
Easy Does It by astolat
Pairing: Steve/Sam Rating: M Words: 6,489 Tags: Post-CA:TWS, Sex Pollen, Marriage
Summary: “It just seems like—it should mean something,” Steve said plaintively. “Well, I guess it does,” Sam said, after a thoughtful moment. “Means you’re not a virgin anymore.”
Reasons why I love it: Oh my god, that ending scene is the fucking best. I love how this fic strikes the perfect balance between being fluffy, funny and angsty, and does all of them equally well. Steve hanging out with Sarah and the kids is adorable, and I love Sam and Steve's banter throughout. This fic is wonderful, and I hope you check it out for yourself!
between our bodies there's a battlefield by thingswithwings
Pairing: Steve/Sam Rating: E Words: 4,805 Tags: Porn with Feelings, Anal Sex, PWP
Summary: Sam hadn't ever had cause to think about it, not really, but if someone had told him that he would end up in a pity fuck situation with Steve Rogers, gorgeous kind superpowered American war hero Steve Rogers, he would've assumed he was the one being pitied.
Reasons why I love it: Sam reading Steve like a book and giving him exactly what he needs is really fucking hot. And oh my god, Steve asking to be held down, and that anecdote about Tom? Scorching. Steve's desperation just makes it all even hotter, goddamn. I love this fic so much, and I bet you will too!
you can see it with the lights out by defcontwo
Pairing: Steve/Sam Rating: M Words: 4,702 Tags: Falling In Love, Past Relationship(s), Insecurity
Summary: “Will you believe me if I tell you that this is a normal thing that happens between two guys that are friends?” Sam says, and yeah, he’s pretty sure that that came out as weak as it sounded in his head. Steve leans up on one elbow, looking down at Sam, that same crinkle around the edges of his eyes noticeable even in the gloom of the motel room light. “I know it’s been seventy years since I last had sex with a man but I’m still pretty sure that’s bullshit, Wilson.” Sam Wilson falls in love. Like everything else, it's a process.
Reasons why I love it: Gaaah, this fic gives me ALL the feels! Sam's conflict is so relatable, and I love the hopeful ending. Steve is such a sweetheart too. This fic is incredible, and it deserves all the love in the world, so I hope you check it out!

👍 and đŸ„° for the fic rec meme!
(for the fic rec meme)
👍A fic you bookmarked recently
(Well, my most recent bookmarks are the ones you just recomended to me but skipping those...)
Here's the thing: this one is tricky because while I've been trying to keep multiple interests on my dash, when it comes to my fic reading I've been fixated on the Locked Tomb books to an alarming degree and before that I spent a couple of years away from fandom.
This means that all my recent bookmarks are either Locked Tomb fics or, like, writing advice for my wip. To find something else we'd have to go back to 2017 which I don't think counts as "recent" by any definition of the word.
But fortunately, right at the top of my bookmarks I've got something that can be read fandom-blind!
Mors Vincit Omnia
Working security at an architectural firm isn't the thrilling career Gideon had seen for herself, but it pays the bills. When a series of gruesome murders take place, she finds herself dragged into the path of her childhood tormentor, now a well-respected forensic anthropologist. Together they get pulled under by the current of desecration and accusation, fighting for truth as unlikely allies.
The great thing about this one is that it functions as a mystery/thriller featuring some artistically nasty corpse descriptions and an enemies-to-lovers romance. It's a modern AU and enough of the backstory is baked in that you won't need to consult a fan wiki. The legal and scientific aspects are a bit hand-wavey, but the plot is tight, the characterizations are great and the story, dare I say it, has great bones.
Unfortunately, it's a WIP and right in the middle of a cliffhanger but it updates regularly, so there should be a new chapter soon.
đŸ„° A fic that gives you warm fuzzy feelings
I definitely have to pick one of my favorite old-school SamSteve fics:
how to
Sam Wilson was the Picasso of flirting, which was why it was such a shame that Steve could probably get slapped in the face with a dick and still misinterpret a sexual advance as an honest mistake. Oh God, I’m sorry, I accidentally hit your dick with my face. I apologize. I can pay for that. I’m so sorry.
How to describe this in a way that does it justice? It's heartwarming. It's hilarious. Sam offers to help Steve navigate 21st century romance with a series of "practice dates". Sam thinks that Steve isn't picking up on his attempts to flirt; in fact, Sam is missing all of Steve's many, many attempts to flirt and/or pick Sam up.
Although the author mentions a planned 14th chapter that never happened, the story is functionally complete with no cliffhanger and nothing important is missing.

Chapters: 2/2 Fandom: Captain America (Movies) Rating: Explicit Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Steve Rogers/Sam Wilson Characters: Sam Wilson (Marvel), Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes Additional Tags: Slow Build, Banter, Flirting, Past Riley/Sam Wilson, Past Peggy Carter/Steve Rogers Summary:
It’d gone like this: Steve Rogers approached Sam on the National Mall and then Steve approached Sam at the VA and then Steve kissed Sam. And then two days later, Steve Rogers approached Sam again, knocked at Sam’s back door with Natasha Romanoff at his side and asked for Sam’s help. And since then
well, Sam’s – let’s just put it this way: no one would be surprised to hear Sam say that it wasn’t really how he’d imagined the last few weeks going is all. Signing on to help Captain America, getting back in the sky after all that time, standing at Steve’s side as Steve’s world started to crumble and collapse around him, and then helping Steve bring down SHIELD, saving the world like Sam Wilson was some kind of freakin’ superhero. And then, after all that, then nearly losing Steve just a few days after they first met.
"I've had to put up with a lot?" Sam repeated, crossed his arms over his chest, smiling. “Yeah, I guess that’s one way to describe the last week.”

De-Aged Steve Rogers - a fic rec list
Some of my favorite stories featuring Steve (and sometimes others) turned into a child or younger adult.
Chase All The Clouds From The Sky by written by IndigoNight, with podfic read by reena_jenkins (@jeminamoonnight, @reena-jenkins) (Gen, General Audiences, 15,421 words)
Summary: Magic is the worst. The Avengers are prepared to deal with a wide variety of crises, but an abruptly six-year-old Steve Rogers is not one of them. Especially not when their resident Rogers-expert is reluctant to cross the Winter Soldier-sized gap separating him from his miniaturized best friend.
5 Times an Avenger Realized They Don't Know Steve + 1 Time One Did by WendyDarling95 (@cap-is-bi) (Samsteve, Teen And Up Audiences, 22,876 words)
Summary: A witch sends Steve back mentally and physically to who he was in 1941, and now the Avengers are starting to realize that while they've known Captain America for years now, they may never have met Steve Rogers. Takes place in 2016 5 chapters of an Avenger realizing Steve is more than he seems + 1 where someone knows him very well
More below the cut!
Baby Steve Adventures by catty_the_spy (@cattythespy) (Gen, General Audiences, 2,955 words)
Summary: Captain America gets hit by a spell during a battle. The rest of the Avengers look after him. Also available as a podfic read by blackglass
The Adventures of Not-So-Baby Steve by catty_the_spy (@cattythespy) (Gen, General Audiences, 2,070 words)
Summary: Steve's adjusting to not being a baby. Everyone else is adjusting too.
Small, Not Stupid by @rsadelle (Gen, General Audiences, 346 words)
Summary: Bucky's not going to let the kid fall - even if it weren't a tiny version of his former best friend, he wouldn't do that - but he's not real thrilled about having a small version of his former best friend - who he hasn't seen in seventy years - clinging to him.
The Kids Weren’t Alright by lettered (@letteredlettered) (Gen, Teen And Up Audiences, 56,199 words)
Summary: Tony accidentally turns himself into a twelve-year-old using alien tech. Steve is stuck as bodyguard, Bruce is stuck trying to fix him, and Pepper is stuck trying to ward off a twelve-year old’s attempts at flirtation. And then things go from bad to worse.
For I Am Crystal Chrome by IamShadow21, kath_ballantyne (@iamshadow21) (Gen, Teen And Up Audiences, 8,116 words)
Summary: “Don't touch that,” he forces out, his throat as rough as gravel. “Don't.” “Okay,” the person says, and doesn't try to pull out of Tony's grasp. “Okay, I won't.” Tony sucks in a sharp breath and opens his eyes. “You're American. The terrorists got you, too?” The man he's holding on to is young, very young. He's slender and frail looking with a pale, wan face, and Tony would know him anywhere. “Terrorists?” Steve Rogers asks, with confusion. “Oh shit, I really am dead, and there's an afterlife, and it sucks,” Tony moans.
Mixed-Ages Classroom by harcourt (@haforcere) (Gen, Not Rated, 5,114 words)
Summary: For this prompt, where the Avengers are de-aged, but to different ages; Clint & Tony to young children (below 10), Bruce to a toddler (whose tantrums involve hulking out to bb!hulk), Natasha & Steve back to teenagers (with scrawny!Steve). In which Hulk is a baby, Natasha and Steve know they aren't real teenagers, Clint and Tony behave badly, and Maria Hill is not a parent but Coulson might be. Also available as a podfic read by blackglass
The Tactical Applications of Caramel Apples and Ring-Tailed Lemurs by @caffienekitty (Gen, General Audiences, 2,342 words)
Summary: Loki de-ages Captain America. This is not the best idea he's ever had, but he can work with it.
Meet Tomorrow If You Choose by Dira Sudis (@dsudis) (Samsteve, Explicit, 9,440 words)
Summary: "Not quite like the other me, huh," Steve said, because there was no point pretending. "Nah, actually I was thinking I can see it," Sam said. "The way you stand--you project, you know? Like in a way you really always were the big guy, just your body took a while to catch up."
De-Aged Steve Rogers by @sabrecmc (Stony, Not Rated, 8,458 words)
Summary: Steve gets de-aged and clings to Tony
Second Childhood by @navaan (Stony, General Audiences, 2,006 words)
Summary: Steve and Tony get de-aged and it brings some problems, but maybe it gives them a chance to start over.
Smells Like Teen Spirit by @jenthesweetie (Stony, Teen And Up Audiences, 7,363 words)
Summary: Because that’s what the magic explosion had done: it had turned all of his friends into hormonal, pimpled, unbelievably obnoxious teenagers. When he called Fury to ask for advice, Fury laughed, hung up on him, called him back just to laugh some more, and then said, “If nobody’s dying, Stark, I really don’t care” and hung up again. Tony wondered vaguely who he had pissed off, besides all the usual suspects. This felt more as though he’d pissed somebody off in, like, a cosmic way.
Clint Barton And The Adventures In Terror Twin Rearing by @attackofthezee (General Audiences, 3,074 words, No Archive Warnings Apply)
Summary: “Maybe it’s aliens.” Steve hisses at Barnes. “Aliens don’t look like people Steve.” Barnes says with all the surety of an eleven year old. And ho boy, does Clint kind of want to introduce this version of these two to Thor. In which Steve and Bucky are somehow turned into their ten and eleven year old selves and Clint Barton is somehow nominated to take care of them. It goes about as well as can be expected. Also available as a podfic read by quietnight (@quietnighty)
They Could Never Be the Same by ABrighterDarkness (@alwaysabrighterdarkness) (Thundershield, Teen And Up Audiences, 1,234 words)
Summary: The situation at hand being a magically-miniaturized Steve Rogers who had hardly spoken a word but followed either Thor or Natasha around like a tiny shadow ever since they’d been released from Medical. SHIELD medical were, of course, every bit as shocked to have the Avengers show up en masse to deliver an apparently four-year-old Captain America to get checked over.

I know you've wrotten meanstiel yourself but I was wondering if you had any other recs for it? Althought I do still need to read 2 of your ones too
Unfortunately going to have to come out as a fake fan because I haven't read ANY other meanstiel and even my megstiel is limited enough that I can't recommend any off hand. There's a very. Particular dynamic that I like for meanstiel. And I don't want to read bad takes on Meg because she is my blorbo and I feel this would make me unduly upset. So I haven't delved into the ao3 tags even a little bit.
I went through enough "trying to find decent throuple fics where my favourite is the least popular and there is a significant fandom shipping the other two" in the captain america fandom (where my favourite was Sam Wilson AKA the falcon and my primary interest was samsteve but people claiming to write "samstevebucky" were in fact writing stucky wearing a "sam is their therapist and has no plotlines or negative feelings and is functionally a sexy extra" trenchcoat). I've done my time in the fandom mines...
(This isn't meant to disparage or discourage people from writing meanstiel!!!!!!!!!!! Please do!! More thinking about Meg more better! I just probably personally won't read it lol)

I’ve put together a list of my top fics and authors! It might be edited and added onto as I continue to discover more lovely works!
Top Picks:
The Island Man by Amber_Skye   (84k, Gen)
SHIELD never finds Captain America.
But one spring, the Valkyrie melts anyway, and Steve Rogers wakes up in the ice, alone.
time on my hands (could be time spent with you) by thedoubteriswise (23k, Mature)
"You doing okay, kid?”
Steve releases a breath, deciding how honest he wants to be. No point in lying. No point in telling the truth, either. "Glad to see you."
"That’s not what I asked, but same to you, punk."
Learn Me Hard Oh, Learn Me Right by AHM1121 (60k, Explicit)
“Have you always struggled with math, Steve?” Dr. Potts asked.
The blush crept higher as the same shame that he had felt since the second grade crawled up his spine.
“You’re not the only one.” She assured, handing the papers back to him. “Luckily, you can get one-on-one tutoring at the student center, your tuition covers two sessions per week.”
“Thank you ma’am.” Steve accepted the paper and stood, sliding his backpack over his shoulders. Making his way out of her office he paused when she called his name. “Ma’am?”
“Ask for Bucky Barnes.” Her lips turned up at the name. “He’s one of the math majors that I oversee, haven’t had a student work with him who hasn’t passed.”
No pressure, Steve thought. “I’ll make sure to do that. Thank you Dr. Potts.”
“Good luck Steve.”
He didn’t need luck, he needed a miracle.
4 Minute Window by Speranza (24k, Explicit)
"Look, if they catch me," Bucky muttered, "they're either going to kill me or they're going to put me in a box with a little window and—Steve, I can't."
Stucky:
Details In The Fabric by Raptor_Squad (58k, Explicit)
The most humbling lesson the universe has to teach is this: all things start small.
Bucky's been out of HYDRA's grasp for two years, he remembers his life, he's making peace with himself, and he's carved his own space in Avengers tower. It's a good life, he thinks.
The most honest lesson the universe has to teach is this: all things start small.
Of all people, it's Tony, who posits that maybe Steve isn't as okay as he would have everyone believe. Of all people, it isn't Bucky who realizes that Steve doesn't really smile anymore.
The most extraordinary lesson the universe has to teach is this: all things start small.
It's bits and pieces of hearts lost to war. It's second and third and fourth and fifth chances. It's SteveandBucky and BuckyandSteve. It's them.
Silence is Loudest Sound by softstevie (3k, Teen)
“You are so brave and quiet I forget you are suffering.” Ernest Hemingway
Retirement hasn't been easy for Steve. He has good days and bad days. This is one of his bad days. His bad days aren't so bad with Bucky.
I Can Fly Us Both by Kellyscams (5k, Mature)
For the past year or so, Steve's been Bucky's rock, his support, his shoulder to cry on. But now that Bucky's doing so much better, he's noticed something. Steve is in need of just as much support -- needs a rock and a shoulder to cry on. If he'll let someone in.
What Once Was Mine (A New and Improved Guide to Project Rebirth by Steven G. Rogers) by dontcallmebree, kocuria-visuals (28k, Mature) ( @iamthe-wo-manwhocan , @kocuria)
They tell him he was a soldier, a leader—a hero.
He doesn’t know if he believes them.
Fresh out of the ice with no recollection of his past, Steve Rogers strikes out on his own and tries to cobble together a life worthy of the clean slate he’s been given.
Innocent Until by L1av (136k, Explicit) (@buckmebxrnes)
Bucky Barnes made a name for himself as the attorney who could get anyone off, but he still lives by the saying, "Innocent until proven guilty." Steve Rogers finds himself on trial for multiple homicides but he swears he was only trying to protect a girl. Bucky's been in this business long enough to know when someone's innocent, and Steve is innocent. Steve already feels like a monster and Bucky's worried this guy's going to lay himself on the sword come his trial. So Bucky offers up another course for punishment:
Turns out, chains and whips really excite Steve.
As You Seep On In And Keep Me Down by thiccbuckybarnes (8k, Explicit)
Bucky Barnes is a man of many names.
But first and foremost, he’s an ass man. He likes his guys small, able to be bent in half when he fucks them. He likes being bigger, being in control, likes crowding little twinks up and wrecking them so thoroughly they cry.
But he makes the wrong judgement when he first sees Steve in a bar; Steve’s all height, wide shoulders and muscle, clearly wouldn’t want the things that Bucky wants. It isn’t until he sees Steve shrink up from rejection, sees how pretty his cheeks look in an embarrassed flush, that he realizes that Steve is everything he wants.
It’s a good thing, too, when Steve gives him a second chance because if he hadn’t, Bucky would have missed out on the meal of his life.
Dining In by ipoiledi (2k, Explicit) ( @ipoiledi)
“Mornin’,” Steve says.
“Get over here,” Bucky replies.
a desert in my heart and nowhere to hide by endofadream (3k, Explicit)
Steve struggles to push himself upright, already muttering, “Sorry, sorry, sorry,” and stops when Bucky’s metal hand clamps down onto the back of his neck. It’s hardly more than its usual gentle hold, but immediately Steve melts, tension leeching from his body even as his heart pounds in his chest.
Bucky draws in a ragged breath behind him. “Is that what you want?” he asks after a pause.
turn me up when you feel low by faerietell (13k, Teen)
Steve Rogers is a man out of time, in a city that used to be his home, a city he no longer recognizes. Through charming radio host, Bucky Barnes, he relearns his city, adopts a dog, and falls in love.
You Wear Your Ruins Well by LizzieHarker (7k, Gen)
Steve found himself in Bucky’s arms, tucked beneath his chin. Hot tears stained his face and Bucky wiped at them with his thumb, pressing his lips to Steve’s head. “C’mon, Stevie. Talk to me. Please.”
The tension in his chest broke, unleashing the ocean he’d kept contained since the ice melted from his skin. “How do you do this?” Steve sobbed, burying his face against Bucky’s chest, hand twisting the fabric of his shirt. “I don’t understand. How do you do this?” The misery came, torrent and rip current, unstoppable.
Bucky’s arms tightened and Steve sagged, the tears flowing endlessly now that he’d started. Buck drew circles up and down Steve’s back, whispering reassurance, taking Steve’s weight and holding on. By the time he’d finished, cried himself out entirely, Steve’s head throbbed, his eyes achy and his nose stuffed up. Bucky’s shirt had soaked through and Steve lay uncomfortably against it. The other man didn’t move, didn’t let go, didn’t push him away. Drawing a shaky breath, Steve looked up at Bucky, who looked back down at him. “I think I’m in trouble, Buck.”
Holding On by ClaraxBarton (42k, Explicit)
Steve Rogers had survived more than he cared to remember.
Polio. Scarlet Fever. Pneumonia. A bum heart.
Basic training. Hydra. Nazis. Chorus Girls. World War II.
A plane crash. Kind of.
An alien invasion.
It seemed, however, that the thing that would finally kill Steve Rogers would be as mundane as it was ridiculous.
“Your poll numbers are way down, and we need to get them back up.”
Poll numbers.
Because, apparently in 2013, public opinion about Steve Rogers and his performance as Captain America mattered more than his actual performance as Captain America.
Last week, Steve and Natasha had taken out a terrorist cell with plans to blow up the Eiffel Tower, and the only casualty had been the broken arm of one bad guy because he tried to cop a feel and Natasha hadn’t been in the mood to watch Steve get his pec squeezed.
But this week?
This week, his poll numbers were way down.
drowning in the memories by itsmylifekay (4k, Not Rated)
5 times the Avengers were oblivious to Steve’s aversion to water and the one time they finally got it.
SamSteve:
Hypothermia by thecommodore_squid (orphan), Wolviecat (34k, Mature)
"He's a veteran."
"You've talked to him?"
Sam shook his head. "I can tell," he said firmly, tone booking no room for argument.
Natasha's gaze was critical and clouded with a vaguely ominous shadow. "You have to be careful."
AKA
A Canon-Divergent AU in which Steve becomes homeless, and nothing is as it should be.
Thank God by aggressivelybicaptainamerica (11k, Explicit)
"I want to know," Steve barreled on, terrified that if he didn't get started now he would never say it. "I want know your fantasies, what you want to do with me, the things that make you feel warm and even the things that make you feel a little dirty. But I also want to know what your favorite breakfast is so I can cook it for you when you have a bad night and what your favorite color is so I can paint every wall with it. I want to hold your hand and bring you flowers at work and kiss you on the street. I want to stand on every rooftop in Brooklyn and tell the world how much I love you. I'm not used to being allowed to want that."
Apparently they're just going to dive straight into the Mariana trench, no tanks, no buoyancy devices, no wetsuits, buck-ass naked. Despite feeling almost hysterically giddy, like he's real short on oxygen (no tanks, remember), Sam finds that he's fine with this.
Not Just Anybody (Help) by kototyph (9k, Teen)
Sam meets a homeless veteran with a famous name.
Gen:
Audio Commentary Track With Steve Rogers by copperbadge (3k, Gen)
Steve didn't know you could go to college to study movies.
Fine by cellorocksmyworld (24k, Gen)
Captain America is a national icon. A picture in a history textbook; a story on the lips of old men.
Steve Rogers, on the other hand, is a wreck.
the way a traveler knows a traveler by thedoubteriswise (12k, Gen)
She smiles. “There’s a rest stop no one maintains 15 miles ahead.”
He’s stopped asking how she knows things like that, which is frankly rude of him considering how much she enjoys smiling mysteriously and giving bullshit explanations that don’t bear even a passing resemblance to the truth. She retaliates by putting her feet on the dashboard. He gives her a sour look, but says nothing.
Steve is easy to be silent with. At first glance he looks like he should be obnoxiously friendly, but in practice he seems to approach most social interactions as though they’re an inescapable responsibility he doesn’t feel he has a right to complain about.

There's gas in Steve's face, and Nat feels like she's only there to watch.

When You Have to Go There by Dira Sudis (dsudis)
It had never crossed Sam's mind that he might end up on Wakanda's doorstep the way Steve and Natasha had ended up on his a few years back: battered and on the run, seeking refuge. Even less had he ever imagined that if he did, he would be welcomed in.
5 Times an Avenger Realized They Don't Know Steve + 1 Time One Did by WendyDarling95
A witch sends Steve back mentally and physically to who he was in 1941, and now the Avengers are starting to realize that while they've known Captain America for years now, they may never have met Steve Rogers. Takes place in 2016
5 chapters of an Avenger realizing Steve is more than he seems + 1 where someone knows him very well

Not Just Anybody (Help) by kototyph
Sam meets a homeless veteran with a famous name.

Off By Two by astolat
“Who sent you?” Steve said.
“Colonel Rhodes tapped me, specifically,” Wilson said. “But pretty much all your friends were behind the idea.”
“All my friends are dead,” Steve said.
Breaking News by astolat
“I’ve sent you keys,” Tony said. “I’ve emailed, I’ve texted, I’ve called. Pepper called. There is an entire floor of Stark Tower waiting for you to move in. And instead here you are living in a two-bedroom shack out in the open with your — extremely hot, by the way, nice job there — boyfriend. The paparazzi are going to eat you alive, Rogers.” (honestly anything by astolat is great)

Sam's doing paperwork when aliens come through a rift in space and start attacking New York.
Liminal by NachoDiablo
“You know, in the future, you tell me that the best thing I can do is start over. Guess that advice still stands, at least temporarily.”
“And did you take that advice, the first time around?”
“Not really,” Steve admits. “But I will this time.”
Or, Steve gets stuck in a 2010 layover en route back to his future.

Steve makes a new friend. Tony just wants the world to make sense.
Not the Destination by KiaraSayre
Before they leave New York, Tony Stark (Tony Stark, Jesus, Sam's not over it, never ever over it) hands him an AmEx Black and says, "Don't let Cap spend it all on egg creams and quarters for the jukebox."
"That is exactly what I'm gonna do," Sam says. "Egg creams and jukeboxes, nonstop. That's how we roll."

To Get Lost Is To Learn The Way by Diamond_Raven
While waiting for Bucky to get out of cryo, Steve realizes his life has no direction and his depression rapidly worsens. He knows he won’t find happiness or purpose amongst the modern marvels in the Wakandan city, but he thinks he’ll have better luck in a small, rural fishing village on the outskirts of Wakanda.
One Caress by fuck_me_barnes
Steve's rarely been touched in a way that didn't equate to some kind of hurt. The cold metal of a stethoscope against his frail chest or the sting of a needle drawing yet another blood sample, when he was a sickly child. The bone-shattering punches thrown by the neighborhood bullies on the playground, or by his own father at home, drunk and wild. His mother, weak and clutching at him as she grew more incoherent with the drugs as the cancer ate away at her insides. Touch was something he shied away from, something he told himself he just didn't want.
Except...he did. He just didn't know how.
Until he finds a flyer for a local "affection and intimacy services" program.
In which Steve learns how to become comfortable with touch, and there is one very good dog, and a slow-burn romance.

They say everyone’s got another half out there somewhere, like all our souls are split in two.
I don’t think it’s like that. I think you’ve got mine and I’ve got yours, and I promise I’ll look after it good while I’m here just so long as you do the same for me.

Where the Heart Is by Chancy_Lurking
“Couples are more than welcome to room together.”
Steve freezes up, feels his eyes go a little wide before he can help himself. He stumbles over his words, “Oh, I—No, we’re not—”
“We’re not going to give you any trouble about that,” Fury presses, turning to squint at them head on. “Stark likes to say we’re opened minded and close-knit. Your private life is your business, but you don’t need to hide here, understand?”
Steve goes to reiterate that they’re not a couple, but startles when Bucky’s hand settles on the small of his back. He looks at him like he’s lost his mind, but Bucky’s just smiling at him. “Never can be too careful these days,” he says.
(Steve and Bucky pretend to be a couple when they move in, but at some point, it stops feeling like pretend.)
Reconcilable Differences by NachoDiablo
After a whirlwind romance, Steve and Bucky have been happily married for the past year. At least, that’s what everyone thinks. No one suspects they tied the knot for more practical reasons, not even their closest friends. But now that those practical reasons are sorted, there’s no reason for them to stay married

Astronomy In Reverse by pansley
A year after the Winter Soldier failed his mission in DC, Bucky Barnes is doing his best to stay under the radar from both Hydra and Steve Rogers. His hope for a peaceful day-to-day life in limbo goes awry, however, when he meets Queens’ newest hero; a pure-hearted kid with a death wish and a ridiculous pair of red and blue pajamas.
The last thing Steve expects when he finally tracks Bucky down is that, not only has the man been living in Queens all this time, right under his nose, but also that, in the two years since they last saw each other, Bucky somehow acquired a kid.
Alternatively: How Peter Parker effectively fucks over Bucky Barnes, and also totally saves him.
to memory now I can't recall by Etharei
While on a mission storming a HYDRA facility, James Buchanan Barnes touches one of the many strange alien devices collected by the Red Skull. He does this, in fact, twice— in the past, and in the future.
Next thing he knows, Bucky Barnes is opening his eyes in the 21st century, which is full of great gadgets and coffee, and at least includes his old pal Steve. (And, inexplicably, a different Stark.) Meanwhile, the Winter Soldier finds himself in the middle of World War Two, helping Captain America hunt down HYDRA (which is at least familiar), pretending to be Bucky Barnes (which is not), and figuring out the very noisy group of soldiers who call themselves the Howling Commandos.
Demobilization by 743ish
When the Statue of Liberty slides into view, the whole ship roars. It’s deafening. Bucky throws his fist in the air and yells along with everyone else. His heart is in his throat. The Statue of goddamn Liberty. Bucky wants to climb up her robe and kiss her sour green face.

In 1945, Bucky comes home from the war.
One Cloud Feels Lonely by thecommodore_squid (orphan_account)
“I’m going to take a break for a while,” Steve said quietly, not looking at T’Challa, not knowing that this was what he was gonna do until the words were out of his mouth. “I can’t be on a team right now.”
T’Challa nodded as if he understood. “Alright.”
AKA In which Steve and Bucky both figure out how to be a person again, and it still takes them over 130 years.
