So, i just recently find out that there's an Sukuna x Cinderella ship running on Tik Tok for some reason?

Aparently that's a thing because the anime ended on a bad note and that was the way the fans tried to cope? And not only that, but ALL the JJK characters got a princess pair. The most popular i guess ia Nanami and Tiana but there's also Gojo x Elsa, and Itadori x Rapunzel which is...adorable ngl. I know that for some people that might be weird but i personally really enjoy those random crackships like Mordecai x Twilight or the infinite Sans ships with himself

Also just the idea that that's how the fandom tried to cope after a tragic ending just makes everything more cute. Their way to deal with it was making the characters have very happy relationships with Disney princesses, that's wholesome

And the fact they made Cinderella fall in love with Sukuna is just...so funny! Like, she's a characters known for her kindness while Sukuna is a literally demon, that have some fanfic potencial. Of course, in realistic terms they could never work, but c'mon that wouldn't be the first time a fandom ignores canon for the sake of ships

So yeah, is a funny meme, have some very good animatics on Tik Tok and i wish this gets more famous in other plataforms cause that's just amazing

Listening: @cyelatm released a new album Habit Prism that I've been listening to in bits and pieces. Even, rhythmic folk, good music to have on when you have people around.

In that vein, Bandcamp Friday this coming Friday! Make your lists!

Watching: Watched The Raid which I've had kicking around for a bit. Do you want to watch guys punch each other all over for like 15 minutes at a time for an hour? No? Get better taste in movies and then watch guys punch each other all over for like 15 minutes at a time for an hour.

The Raid is so obviously made for like two dollars, there's one building, every single gun and piece of armour is airsoft gear, the camera is visibly some mid-tier hardware that suffers from severe rolling shutter, and it kicks so much ass.

There's some really interesting things happening with camera movement in this movie. Really really complicated multi-axis camera moves, the same shot will take like six different dutch angles in a single move, or will lock on to different objects and follow them, it's great for martial arts but it's also used to pretty good effect in some interstitial scenes.

The culminating fight with Mad Dog is so wild, literally just three guys in an empty concrete cube fighting for a solid ten or twelve minutes and it works! Does not seem possible. They actively remove almost every prop from the room so it's just guys hitting each other but they keep doing incredible stunts.

It's funny looking at the gifsets on here because they're unreadable, everything happens so fast and requires so much context that is only delivered in the full flow of the movie. My favourite part is when he said "It's Raiding Time" and raided all over those guys.

Reading: Finally sat down and got through the Phalanx's Twilight, Legion's Triumph series on acoup.

Sections IVa-c mostly slid off my brain because it's a bunch of wars I don't know enough about to contextualize but it's mostly justification for what's explained in parts I-III which were great, and it's an interesting look at how the political and military structures of Rome interwove to improve the effectiveness of the Legion.

Also reading Skin Horse, which I started ages ago but never got very far, I think because I started a job around that time and lost track of it. Sticking webcomic tabs on my little ARM tablet is really convenient, I've jammed Out Of Placers and Laika's Comet in there as well, it's been a while since I did a big archive dive on a comic.

Skin Horse is very much of its time, not really in sensibility but just in content. The nerds are characterized by liking Harry Potter.

Making: Resolved the power delivery issues that were causing me to have mysterious failures with the LED driver. That was annoying. Anyway remember to split your power supply when you could potentially pull like 10A@5V to drive LED's.

Playing: Tactical Breach Wizards campaign is ongoing, as you get deeper into the campaign your team expands which dramatically complicates operations, your possible actions explode, and I'm not even halfway through.

Dall was my newest operator at time of writing and she's probably the hardest to use, she can deal a lot of damage but relies more so than anyone else on good positioning, it's really easy to end up way out of place and waste her moves, and she's too heavy to shunt around with Jen's storm attacks the way you can with the others.

Speaking of those, I really like how the short turns and deterministic actions mean you can get really into the weeds. The first time I used a gale grenade to shunt Zan over one extra block to line him up I assumed this would be a sometimes food but you really find yourself doing stuff like that all the time.

I'm heading back and picking through some of the challenge missions concurrently with playing partially to stretch out overall gameplay and partially because I think having fewer abilities unlocked will make those more interesting.

Tools and Equipment: You know, I think we know each other pretty well, I can put this here. The Doxy USB-C Wand is a safe and legal thrill.

Although August thought his roommate looked super cool in his outfit, he wondered if it was a little impractical for what they were about to do. In contrast, the fairy wore a lot of earthy tones, his jacket being a calming brown and pants a pale beige, both slightly loose fitting and soft fabrics because he knew he'd be running and flying around. He'd been trying to get used to hearing the other's non-stop cursing but it still made his nose scrunch up, though he'd learned enough to not mention it since he was pretty sure it'd either lead to more cursing or a death glare. He was learning so much about his new roomie!

"Well," he looked up at the sky for a moment, thinking about the other's words, "witches are technically human, aren't they?" He looked back at Lee Know, smiling brightly. He seemed to completely miss the fact that the mirrorwalker was trying to stay away from him so he wouldn't be covered in his glitter.

At the mention of vampires, August let out an "Ooo," sound, lifting his hands to mimic the usual pose of a vampire attacking, baring his teeth with a small growl. His growl soon turned into light laughter, his attempt at looking evil failing miserably. "I think you'll be more convincing! You know how to do the mean look," he suddenly tried to imitate it, squinting his eyes and knitting his brows, his lips forming a small pout. It didn't exactly look like the glare Lee Know was able to give. "Buuut, you would look super handsome all glittery! I guess that can work as a distraction too.." he smirked proudly at the mere thought and was tempted to throw a small amount on his roommate - one could practically see the temptation on his face, only interrupted by Lee Know's next words.

"Oh, if anything scary happens you can stand behind me, I'll protect you!" he was pretty sure Lee Know the Dark and Mysterious was kidding but he placed his hands firmly on his hips and lifted his chin a little to show off his brave stance anyway. He'd grown up in the forests and there was barely anything that could scare him there where he felt most comfortable. His feet were back on the ground and he was backing away towards the forest in small hops, facing the mirrorwalker. "Come on! There's so much I can show you on our way there," August wasn't that familiar with this particular forest but he bet there were still things he was familiar with. Maybe August would even get to show and pry Lee Know off a fairy ring.

"So you've seen Twilight?" he asked as they started walking, recognising the reference from earlier, "I think it lacks a crucial part- fairies! Maybe it'd be better with a few mirrorwalkers too."

Some time ago I tried a IA that was supposed to roast me (haha) and it told me that I talk to much about you in my personal Twitter account (and is the true). I'm afraid I enjoy too much dissecting you in my own way in my free time. There is a lot I want to write about you but I tend to hold myself or bite my tongue, so is just me alone with my own thoughts.

I've been trying to recall where my fascination with your mythical figure started. I do remember I was about to visit the ranch of my family in the country side so I picked some books in the local library to entertain myself reading and I picked Goethe's "Faust". (Funny is that I also picked a copy of "Twilight" because the lovely girl in the store very enthusiatically recommended the book to me since it was the hot trend at that time. I already new of that book too because my friends love the Vampire genre and wanted to read it but that's another story. Anyway, what I found funny is that I got "Faust" and "Vampires" in the same day, interesting coincidence.)

I did read Faust first because it was my priority. I still think that Mephistopheles is my favorite character of that play, I find he was so delightful, he still gimme a good time because all the things he says. There is a lot of key scenes a love about the play, like when Faust creates a homunculous, when they visit the witch that will make Faust younger, all the drama when Faust wants to romance Margaret.

Some years later, there was a movie called "Faust" by Aleksandr Sokurov. Already knew about Sokurov because he was the one who filmed "Russian Ark". This Faust took some creative freedom and is a bit different from Goethe's version, but it was also very visually interesting in how the takes are deformed with a fisheye lend and some of the symbolism (Faust and Margaret literally drowning in pleasure and sin IIRC).

And I think one of my favorites so far is the classic "Faust" from Murnau. I was quite surprised because the movie is so well done and has incredible special effects for the era it was done, I love and miss when cinema was this level of creative, now everything is done with computers and graphics that makes things a lot more easy, but don't have the same flavor.

But I wonder how do you feel about all this fictional depictions of you since they are very different from the Johann I know. I'm still craving to learn about new undiscovered versions of you, but I also want to learn more about you in specific.

BTW, I was the one who wrote to the blog asking about what it was allowed or not about NSFW interactions and just asking questions because I'm not really familiar with roleplaying. I just thought it would be ok to say it since I feel like I'm already like three different people in your ask box, but now I'm only two (haha).

However, I do know what AI is, I have not used it very much myself; apparently it’s “the future”. While technology is useful I’m not sure it will ever completely replace real people, but who knows, I suppose it is a possibility. Anyway, I’m getting off topic… You say this AI said you talk about me too much and you admit that it’s true? How interesting, I’m flattered I occupy so much of your mind. Ahh this is how you came to know my name, what an amusing introduction story. I’ve heard about these shiny vampires, they may be the most odd depiction of vampires I've seen; quite the coincidence you ended up with both. Both of these films sound both interesting and entertaining. They seem to do well in showing how you can take the same character and present them differently depending on the creative goals.

Actually, I haven’t interacted very much with the fictional depictions of myself. I’ve only heard whispers here and there whenever I go out. They all sound rather interesting, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to learn about them, maybe I’ll try it out sometime. I’ll use the ones you mentioned as starters, if you enjoyed them then they shouldn’t be bad. You’re always welcome to learn more about me, whether it’s myself or a different fictional depiction.

Based on videos of Latin scholars talking about the Roman poet Sulpicia, it's something like: Sul-pick-ia although there are slight variations on how the 'u' sound and middle 'i' sound are pronounced based on the accent of the speaker. The 'c' is always hard, though, like a 'k'.

But English speakers who AREN'T fussed with the ancient Latin pronunciation say it like Sul-pish-ah or Sul-peesh-ah, again depending on the accent of of the speaker..

I'd assume our ancient Volturi lady is probably using the Latin pronunciation.

And again I'm just basing this off videos I've seen so if I'm totally wrong please feel free to let me know! I've never personally studied Latin.

road trip slide show!

Road-trip to view the 2024 total Solar Eclipse in Missouri, USA was packed with experiences (only 3 minutes of which was viewing the total eclipse). See/read the slide show under the cut!

Our journey started on Saturday and we expected to spend at least 5-6 hours in the car each day (it is 12 hours drive time to our eclipse viewing location in Missouri). Actual time spent on road each day was around 9 🤣 - so our greatest effort on the math figuring out how long our days would be. Ufda, getting to your Airbnb at 9pm each day is exhausting.

There are three humans and one animal on this trip, myself, husband, friend, and friend’s dog.

First event we experienced: the Mississippi River!

Now this needs some background - I live 3 minute drive away from the Mississippi in Minnesota. Could walk to it if I wanted. I’ve been to the headwaters in Itasca, MN and the delta in Louisiana. I cross this river almost daily for the grocery store or to see family … it’s like a big part of life where I live.

We arrived in Guttenberg, IA to Lock and Dam #10 and I’m like - ooh big river! Hey guys, which River is this?

Yeah, the big River here in this part of the United States is …. The Mississippi River. 🤦

Laughs all around - we enjoyed a short walk near the lock and dam, enjoyed all the fun street names, found a bathroom, and got back on the road.

By the way - one of our road trip companions was very cute and a very good puppers for the entire trip. Just amazing!

So day two - husbeast (husband) loudly stated a desire for a roadside attraction during today’s driving. The world’s biggest something, or weirdest whatever …. Something cool. Our friend did some kick butt research and found …. American Giants museum in Atlanta, Illinois. A mere 15 minutes off the hwy; and we were incredibly fortunate cause it was the first weekend they were open on Sundays too!

Upon entering the main downtown area we were greeted by: Paul Bunyon (hot dog man)

And our Minnesota hearts were so happy to see this large giant friend who is also a Paul Bunyan - but different name spelling cause of copyright issues 🤣🤣🤣 (or so the sign stated).

The dog was NOT a fan of hot dog Paul Bunyon man, but we were!

And the museum - y’all it was top notch! A single room, but like, FABULOUS write ups for the history of the Big Friends fiberglass works. Just awesome. The volunteers - also top notch. So friendly and happy to chat.

And if you’re anywhere near there, Memorial Day weekend they are getting one of the last remaining 6 Texaco giants!

Back on the road and onto our next stop which was ….St. Louis and the Gateway Arch.

And guess what! We saw a BIG RIVER! Hey guys, which River is this ….. it’s the Mississippi, still. 🤣🤣

Back on the road to Union, MO to rest up for ECLIPSE DAY!

Many many many friends and family informed us that the traffic TO the eclipse would be pretty good … but leaving the eclipse location would double or triple driving time. WORTH IT!

Many people have written about viewing an eclipse, how it’s an amazing experience. The highlights for me?

When the sun is totally eclipsed you are able to see SUNSET colors at the horizon EVERYWHERE - which is just like …. I love clouds and sunsets and that was AWESOME

Again, totally eclipsed you can see STARS (maybe it’s a planet?) - like the brightest starts are visible!

as the sun returns, the sky opposite the sun looks like twilight, while the light illuminating your front is like day. It’s wild.

total drive time on eclipse day:

1.5 hours from Airbnb to eclipse viewing spot

4 hours to travel same distance away from eclipse

Oh, and side note, traveling to our overnight after the eclipse, we crossed the Mississippi again. “Hey guys, what big river is this?” 🤣

The eclipse was a real highlight of the trip. But not the only highlight.

On the final day of travel, our picnic lunch location took us to a small town in Iowa. As we turn off the highway we see “Welcome to Riverside, IA” and immediately husbeast is exclaiming …

“We’re going to the future birthplace of CAPTAIN KIRK!” We’re huge Star Trek fans in this house - and we met the friend traveling with us thru a Star Trek podcast group many years ago. She’s been to Trekfest in Riverside before, and highly recommends attending. It’s a sweet gathering of wonderful Star treky people … and the few locals we spoke to in Riverside were very friendly!

Fabulous trip. on final count, we crossed the Mississippi 4 times, and I asked which River it was only 3 times. Go me.

It wasn’t just about the destination, but the journey along the way.
