#i've had an issue with bg from day one

H & L have power in this. They can refuse to release music. They have enough money to get lawyers and slip out of that contract. They are as much responsible as anyone enforcing this. And don’t tell me I can’t speak if “I don’t fully know what’s going on” because larries have been pointing the blame at whoever the fuck they want for years, y’all just have an issue when it makes larries look bad.

I will never tell anybody that they can't speak on an issue even if they don't have all the information. People form opinions and beliefs and make decisions with little or no information all the time. We might have different information or different ways of interpreting the information, and that will lead to different opinions and beliefs. You can believe whatever you want and i'm free to disagree with you. You're also allowed to disagree with me.

If you feel like H and L got options they're not exploring to end this, or there are actions that H and L can take to help this situation, but they're not doing it for some reason or other, then you're free to believe that. From what i've seen or learned about them and their situation through the years i've come to learn that they are between a rock and a hard place and they're trying to not make things worse, while resisting when they can. It's that god damn evil contract and Sony's absolute hatred of their relationship that's gotten them in this situation. They refuse to break up though, they'd both be miserable and all they've fought for over these years would be for nothing.

I can only speak for myself. I try to place the blame where it's deserved. The issue is that nobody involved here is all good and blameless, or all bad and evil. It's not black and white, so don't try to make it so. I've explained why Louis ending his career won't make any difference in regards to bg. Harry can't end his career because he's under contract with Sony. They'd sue him for all he's worth and then some if he refused to release music and Sony would win and he'd have to release it anyway. Other artists have tried that before. Sony could also retaliate by making another bg or creating a engagement narrative. If you think bg is bad, it probably could be a lot worse. They own both H and L's asses.

Also, Sony/Syco was smart when drawing up H and L's initial contracts (i've talked about all this before). It states that they have to pick their lawyers out of a goup chosen by Sony/Syco. We know all this from the leaked txf contract. So it was not a free choice. L is still with the same lawyer to this day and that leads me to believe he can't seek outside council without being in breach of contract or something. Or maybe i'm wrong and they've tried but found no way out. Best case scenario is that they've been building a case for years and it's about to blow up. I very much doubt that.

Something I need to just vent: I'm half Jewish and half something US leftists have no trouble understanding as oppressed. I feel like I'm being torn in two. First there are the people from my non-Jewish half, which is, yeah, really fucking antisemitic. There's the garden-variety "fucking kikes deserved it" shit, but I am also fucking drowning in "well obvs we stand w/ the Palestinians" version that went to college, skimmed Fanon, and thinks every struggle is exactly the same. They don't know what's being carefully hidden from them, and if someone showed them, they'd bend over backwards to insist it was somehow totally justified. They know who the Good Guys are, and obviously it's not those loud, greedy, cruel Christ-kil-oh oooooops, I mean Israelis!!! And they're just rushing to like and retweet what the idiots from my other half have to say. They don't question why their pet issue isn't, say, Hawaiian independence, which they might have some weight in as Americans. They don't wonder why they don't give as much of a shit about tribal sovereignty. That's the one that feels like it could get me killed. That's the one that I feel tempted to hide. I wear my chai, but sometimes, when I'm on the T and someone seems like they're staring, I panic and want to hide it. Maybe I'm wrong. But I know there's a significant chance I'm not. Especially when they're clearly from my other half, I know exactly what the fuck they're thinking. And I have nowhere to say it, except a stranger's askbox. Am Yisrael chai, motherfuckers.

I know what that is like. None of my actual goyische friends have said anything hostile, but most of them haven't said anything at all. I know it sounds minor but the days and days of posts of Mr. Rogers saying to look for the helpers, or Gandalf saying nobody wants to live through these times, the usual rounds of virtuous signals, are unmissably absent. And the friends-of-friends are pure violent garbage, which makes me wonder if my friends would have hated and rejected me as a Jew if they'd met me for the first time now and not when we were kids. Have had MULTIPLE friends-of-friends declare that the Israeli civilians weren't civilians, they were colonizers who can't be civilians and who all deserved it ("it" to include rape and infanticide). Every last one of those friends-of-friends are white Americans.

I think something I admire about each of your characters, both reader insert and OC, is that they're all wildly different.

You can't imagine Baby Girl and Princess reacting to the same situation the same way because they wouldn't. Same with Sugar and Anna. Same with Molly and Anna even. All these characters have distinct personalities, backgrounds, ticks, ways they show their love, etc, etc. That's what makes it so fun to read. Realistically, no two people would act the exact same way in a certain situation.

I love that Anna is complicated and that she doesn't quite have everything figured out. I feel like in one way or another, all of your reader inserts/OCs have been like that at one point. It's human to be a bit of a mess.

And it seems kind of presumptuous for people to write her off when we don't even know the full extent of why she is the way she is yet. We've seen up to this point that she's insecure about a lot and that something led her to leave New Jersey. Her freaking out and running could be a response to something we don't know yet. I don't inherently think Anna is a bad person, but someone who has had a lot happen to her that shapes how she responds to things like intimacy and relationships. This doesn't completely absolve her from things such as playing with Bob's feelings in a way, but it also looks at the situation through an understanding lens.

I've had friends react in ways that I didn't agree with or think were right and I've reacted in ways that my friends haven't agreed with or think is right. Doesn't make either of our responses right or wrong, but just shows that not everyone is the same.

This entire rant is to say that even though Anna is a bit frustrating, she's also human, and that frustration shows it. People are allowed to have opinions but when those opinions start coming after the writer, that's when the issues start. And at the end of the day, it's all fiction and there's no use being angry/upset at a fictional character. Good vibes only!

Em, I hope nothing stops you from continuing this story because these characters and this universe (amongst your others) are so well-written. You really know how to capture heart of every character you write.

If you are frustrated by Anna, then you are probably also a frustrating person, and I'm putting myself in that category as well. I really love that you can feel the differences between the silly characters I made up, because I think you're right. BG and Princess would never react the same way in most circumstances, but they also wouldn't even end up in the same circumstance as each other to begin with! And no need to apologize for the length of the message. You can be as wordy as you like.

Hello! I had some questions on making AI voices. I was curious how many minutes of lines you need for the voice to sound good. Your voices sound so clean and I don't know how many minutes you use. Thank you!

Good question lol. So everyone says you should have minimum 10 minutes of audio. I used to do 10-15 minutes but I've gotten really good at just like doing it myself so my last voice I made for the Roman Empire had 29 seconds of audio exactly. so under 30 seconds and This is what he sounds like. (Just used a song I have on my PC)

for comparison here is a side by side with my Spain voice. My Spain is trained with 8 minutes of audio and that is the most audio any of my bots have.

As you can clearly hear their quality is similar and the length of audio seemed to not matter so much in the end.

From what I've found so long as your audio is clear and clean you just need enough to give a broad range of tones. Like some of them whisper, yelling, mono toned and screaming if you have access to it. My Grandpa Rome Audio was just him speaking to Germany. it's that conversation repeated twice with BG sound & Germany removed.

You don't have to like 'fill' the time with repeating voice clips to make the 10 minute mark because what it does is train it over and over so it goes through the audio you have how many times you tell it to so if you train it with 250 epochs it will go go through it 250 times So there is no need to copy paste that 2 minute audio until you reach the 10 minutes. I've found 250 is like the perfect amount of time less than that has been full of static for me and over that has been over trained and pitchy from my experience. Though I may re-do bots to get my desired result. Take my Romano for example. People on the discord helped me fine tune him until he had the level of deep accent we wanted. This included me giving the program more of him rolling his r's and saying hard D sounds. I also made my Italy with his blooper voice as the forward vocals so the AI understands that he can speak in a deep voice because that was an issue I had with his bot at first. The clarity also depends on which program you use. I know KitsAI can be alright at times but struggles with pitching. I can't speak with the others because I've never used them. Making them yourself is like the best results I've found and it's free. (Gradio is best results)

Adair: I think in this point of his PT, Adair gets along with everyone. Everyone loves Adair. I feel at the start it would be Astarion, not because Adair couldn't get along with him, it's because he couldn't get along with her. Adair can get along with everyone.

Amryl: Everyone except for Wyll? And maybe Lae'zel. AND MAYBE Karlach? LMAO. Um, Amryl doesn't like none of these bitches. Integrity: Maybe it's because it has been a while since I've done their run .... but I don't think anyone. Funnily enough. MAYBE Gale but I feel by act 2 it's over. Integrity is an asshole and you know Gale disapproves of certain lack of empathy [which is funny given some of the shit Gale says]. OH! Halsin. LMAO.I can't believe I forgot my main bear. But Integrity has a problem with druids in general [as a tiefling druid]. He also doesn't have the best opinion of the man bc he didn't see the faults in Kagha. And I do think some of Integrity's manner might grate on Halsin. But I feel by now they SHOULD be okay [but again it's been a while].

Kaeliana: It was Astarion but now they're besties. Probably too much of like dealing with like. Well, not entirely but they have similarities. But probably Karlach? They have different approaches to things, though Kae mostly respects that. LOL. Nah, she does. Karlach probably likes her well enough. They just aren't close.

Kendis: Who don't they have a shirt with? It used to be Shadowheart and Lae'zel. But respect has been garnered. I think one could say she and Shadowheart are even friendly. Then it used to be sorta Halsin, Kendis thought Halsin was self-important and Halsin thought Kendis was a brat. But she's raised a lot in his esteem, and she likes him well enough/considers him a friend. Now it's Karlach lmao. Karlach cares about Kendis, but Kendis doesn't think Karlach has a right to but in on Kendis' decisions.

Sekryd: Lae'zel at the moment in her PT. Lae'zel is the bestie, but her approach toward what happens with Vlaakith in the creche --- irritates Sekryd. The facts are THERE, sis. Accept them and move on.

Kendis: A K-drama. Minthara, probably no. Unless messy. Kendis doesn't really ask, tho. Just mentions it. Rolan yes. And they like different chars and argue about it.

Sekryd: I feel Sekryd would watch one of those reality TV shows, about Pawn shops or like family digging/mining [idk i used to hear them in the bg in my patient's rooms]. It started accidentally, a background thing but they got invested. As an artisan dwarf I feel they'd have thoughts. Gale definitely got corralled in, because he was making obvious 'i want to spend more time with my beloved but surely she needs some space' faces. He is full of opinions but knows when to 'shhhh'.

Since I've been having a tough time writing, I decided to start working on the coding! I finally fixed 2 ongoing issues for SYVNH, which is splitting the VA/sound channels. I created a brand new audio channel within renpy to achieve this. I knew it was doable prior to release of Demo 2.0, but I was pressed for time and forgot the exact code to do it so I ended up omitting the update for 2.0.

P.S: past!Me, how dare you? Some of these files had 1k+ calls for audio and I had to sift out which ones were sound effects and which were VA soundbytes! 😭

I might go through one more pass just to make sure all the sound effects are caught prior to releasing a Demo 2.1.

The second coding change is thankfully a simple one. It slipped my mind to make it easier for players to go back and achieve a perfect run... ;v;" The game will now ask if you want to clear your deaths if restarting the game after a bad end. It won't affect CG progress.

the sims 4 LEPacy challege: 5 gens in

i wanted to write a bit about how i'm feeling about this challenge ^_^

i started this because even tho i've been playing sims 4 since it came out (now 10 years!), i eventually stopped following the new packs. i always got them but i never played through new features because there is just SO much. i found myself always going back to what is comfortable -- i only enjoyed the first worlds and only knew the townies from those early packs. i wanted to play through more of what the game has to offer and be able to get more familiar with the worlds, townies & features.

well! i'm still in early sims days (current gen is spa day) aka what is mostly comfortable to me. but still, i've been able to do some gameplay i hadn't tried before, and revisit things i hadn't played in about 10 years.

i know some people that play this challenge keep all the packs but just focus on a certain one each gen. i wanted to have a more challenging experience by actually disabling everything. i soon learned that there's no use forcing myself to only use the awful base game clothes &c when assets in this game look so much nicer now, and by gen 2 i already had all the kits back LOL. so i guess not as challenging as it could be. STILL, besides kits everything else is disabled and i soon learned which features from certain packs i miss the most -- clubs being a major one, can't wait for gen 6...!

i've been trying out some mods as well. it's been interesting learning which packs have like nothing going for them, not even in cc world, while others require mods & fixes. i'm gonna make another post with mods that have helped for each gen so far, for future reference.

overall i've been really enjoying this! it's funny seeing new announcements every few months and getting excited about them while knowing i won't be playing with those features for a long long time. i'm the type of player that needs to stay focused on one save. before this it was my super sim save, that i abandoned around the time growing together came out LOL but i shall return to it someday. and the one that made me go back to the sims 4 was my not so berry save, that i stopped at gen 6 but i also want to return to at some point.

i've been so locked in on this lepacy challenge to the point that i saved backups of my other saves and 'deleted' them all from my sims 4 folder, so i only have the lepacy one there. a reason for that is that all my packs are disabled so i didn't want the clutter of older saves. but yeah, i'm all in for now and i've been having fun -- glitches & all!

another thing is that being a legacy player you eventually have no idea who is living in your world(s). some people are better at this, keeping up with families around them. i haven't really done that. with neighborhood stories & mccc townies have married each other and had kids. some familiar names are still around, but more often than not my save is populated with huge families of random sims. sometimes i try to clean things up by separating newlyweds & couples, but other times i just let them be since i'm focusing on my own family.

it is good only having a couple of worlds available though. i was never that good with using mccc to import sims from my gallery, but i think i have finally managed to do that! my world is less full of randoms, and newly generated townies are all from my tray files. sometimes i take a look at what's going on and i end up doing a quick makeover of random townies when i get a bit bored. so far i've been managing well a save that is already on generation 5.

another thing is that i'm NOT a builder. i wish i could also use this challenge to try and become one, but i'm truly not interested at all in building lol. maybe one day i will (idk). i rely on the gallery as usual. luckily the base game is a lot nicer these days and you can easily find bg builds on the gallery, but i found myself scrolling a LOT when looking for different community lots.

another issue is that, well, the gallery is shit so it's basically impossible to look for builds with the only packs you have. no matter which tags you uncheck, it's either base game or ALL packs, no in-between. incredibly annoying </3 so even tho i know have an expansion, a game pack and a few stuff packs installed i still mostly look up base game builds to save myself the headache. not only that but i always like playing with builds that only have one level bc i like being able to see my entire house at once and where my sims are. and i guess a lot of sims players are american/europeans and bigger houses are more common? idk, but they sure love two or more levels. so that makes me stay even longer on the gallery, looking for the one level house that fits my style. i'm aware things would be so much easier if i would just build, but i really don't want to x_x

one thing i've been liking so far is actually relearning all the bg worlds. i've lived in all of them before, but with less distractions (and some rules) i usually go on walks & runs in neighborhoods with my sims and i've been becoming more familiar with areas of the worlds i never paid attention to before. i could never be a sims 4 geoguesser player lol but it's still cool to check out the enviroments and how nice the worlds are -- even if a lot of it is set dressing. this IS a pretty game, especially when you have lighting mods installed.

so yeah. i do appreciate how much nicer the base game is now -- especially since it is now free to play. you can have a lot of fun with the bg + mods (and cc of course). i've been enjoying this challenge and becoming obsessed with ts4 again :-)

I've been going out w my partner for almost two years and he's been so patient w me hes a sweetheart but the most we've done is cuddle and cheek and nose kisses. I MET HIM A FEW DAYS AGO AND I JUST WANTED TO KISS HIM SO BAD but I'm scared like its intimate what if he looks at me and doesnt see me the same anymore??

there have been two instances where he tried to lean in to kiss me and i got scared and pulled away but he was so patient and reassuring but he felt a bit sad too (i understand that, for the right reasons)

but i feel like i do wanna kiss but i get scared when I'm in the moment. what if i never get over it? Idk. And if the first experience is not good and i dont wanna do it again will he leave me..?

then he asks for tongue and i just. i can't deal with this anymore and i hard stop it there saying no more. the ride home was well, awkward and i couldn't literally tell him face to face how bad it was because i was literally about to implode right there in car.

just remember, communication is very very important in a relationship, so after a few days of letting the situation run its way over my head a couple of times, i reach out to him over text again and im like heyyyyy being completely honest that wasnt a very good kiss and idk like how to feel about the whole situation. not sure it was my fault or yours, i get that we're very inexperienced and don't know what the fuck to do rn but we should probably talk this out and communicate better

and thats exactly what we did. and he got better at kissing and so did i, and we took things at a slower pace, and life was good. we broke up after high school because long distance and different colleges, but we ended on good terms.

you can absolutely fuck up your first kiss and get over it and move on, as long as you and your partner COMMUNICATE

i cannot express how important enough that is in a relationship. Just know that everything can seem really bad, but if they love you enough, they will do their best to make sure they understand and change their ways for you.

I finally finished the rest of the bg after saying NOO I WON'T DETAIL IT IT'LL JUST BE DARK... SPENDS 2ISH HOURS IN DETAILS. EVEN THE STAIRS ONE PLANE OF THEM STILL TOOK OVER AN HOUR TO DO I SWEAR THIS DRAWING WILL KILL ME. I DONT EVEN LIKE HOW I DREW HIGH ROLLER ON IT ANYMORE but I hid her on a layer outside of this

I still have some details to get to in the new wallpaper, and unscrunch the dice a bit

I took the texture and layered it over my drawing so that it makes sense, and then I traced over it with my colors and then added shading according to the reference texture

Still some stuff to add tho

Then.. It's done..! I move to shading high roller but probably in a slightly more cel style mostly relying on layer effects like the rest of the background? Then I can get to the main multiply layers to darken things, drawing the light and adjusting the colors to make it look cooler and make hr in the light

And add texture overlays, possibly...? Then save several versions since I want a bg no hr version for future use. And a version without the shading and shadows and the light WITH High Roller

I did some shallow poking around, and here is every basegame mesh I could find - aside from the regular default "maternity" outfits for AF & AM - that includes a pregnancy morph. Now, assuming I haven't somehow slipped any default replacements into my game without my knowledge, I find this pretty interesting.

Some of these are already known; all pregnant Sims get pyjamas, swimwear, and underwear in addition to "maternity", and all four categories can be changed into freely from dressers. The nude mesh also has pregnancy morphs as well as any outfits that use it (swimwear, underwear, etc). As I mentioned in the tags of the original post, pregnant Sims will get forced into special pregnancy formal wear if they attend a wedding (either the knife dress up there or the racing-stripe tuxedo), but the player can't direct them to change into this pregnancy formal wear manually.

Some are more confusing; pregnant Sims can be directed to exercise, but they won't change into exercise clothes. This is odd knowing that the basegame AF tracksuit has an unused pregnancy morph attached to it. Interestingly, the basegame AM tracksuit does not have a morph; but one could argue that the default AM "maternity" outfit is more appropriate for exercising than the default AF "maternity" outfit.

Even more confusingly, there are "extra" options that never seem to get used in some outfit categories. The BG lingerie nightie has a pregnancy morph, but I've never seen a pregnant Sim randomise into anything other than the two-piece set; and for some unknown reason, the infamous baby sundress everyday outfit also has morphs.

But most confusingly of all, there are several top-only meshes that have pregnancy morphs, but zero bottoms to match:

The nude top for AM & AF has a preg morph, and I bet the elusive nude bottom does too. This isn't too surprising, but the BG AF tops with "seamless" waistlines also have pregnancy morphs. (Maybe they all used the nude top model as a base, which might've already had morphs, and there wasn't any reason to remove them.)

Do all these unused outfits suggest that at some point Maxis considered adding pregnancy morphs to all outfits, and not having a dedicated "maternity" category at all? If they did, then I'm betting they gave it up either because they realised the separates system was going to cause issues, or because it simply wasn't future-proof. They must've quickly recognised they were making a LOT of work for themselves when it came to future expansion packs, especially when Sims only wear maternity clothes for 2-3 days, and ESPECIALLY once they decided to introduce alien pregnancy.

Anyway - for my low-CC purposes, this is a very exciting discovery, and it's just an interesting insight into early days of Sims development. This might not be an exhaustive list, but I doubt there are any meshes from later EPs with morphs since they abandoned this concept in the basegame (hence there being no morphs in the outerwear category), and I'd like to sniff around some more unlocked meshes, but since pregnant Sims don't go to work it's unlikely that any career or NPC outfits etc will have morphs.

Hi! I hope you're having a god day. I'm trying to follow this tutorial to convert an object (the "Treadony Sword" from this set) into a posing accessory, but I ran into a kind of weird issue at the "putting the UV map over the texture" part.

The texture is a really weird shape, and the recommended "scale by [amount]" doesn't really work. (For example, I had to scale not just in the y direction but also the x direction.) So I just had to guess and fiddle with it, but even still it isn't perfect.

Which is fine, but it took a ridiculously long time, and I don't want to have to do that again with the at least one other sword from the set that has a similarly weird texture shape. Do you know of any way to make it easier?

(I think maybe part of the problem is that the texture isn't square? But I could be wrong! This is only my first time trying this.)

ah sometimes when you're converting from something else, you'll have to manually adjust the uv map for it to fit.

i took a look at that uv for that sword and my suggestion is just using S to scale it all as one piece vs scaling each individual piece. sometimes you have select and scale stuff manually.

first set up your file using the sims 4 uv template that's in that tutorial

i made the item a smart object in photoshop (you can just drag it into photoshop and ps should automatically make it a smart object).

i remove that template bg and open this up in blender and jsut manually scaled each island to fit. it can't be helped unless you want to make new uv maps and bake the old ones to the new ones (lot more time consuming than just selecting the islands and scaling them).

you can use L (linked parts) to select each island in the uv editor and us S (scale) and R (rotate) to adjust each piece. but i recommend grabbing it in one go and just scaling it manually as i've done above.

see how i use scale + y to scale up and down and use teh g key to grab it onto the mesh. the uv map might not be perfect but as long as the texture overextends a bit from the uv bounds, you're good. it's ok to have a bit of bleed in there.

Man, Onodera has a really... blunt way of saying things to her human clients. Wow, brave. 😲

Our chapter begins where we left off in chapter 13--Minato pinning Shizuma down on the bed. Shizuma looks up at Minato and reflects on his actions that caused the pained look he is seeing.

On the next page (title page), the dialogue reads: Shizuma wants to understand what it is about his director (Onodera) that is making Minato uneasy. // However, that beautiful liar hides it well...

(I believe we are taken back to the morning before Shizuma and Minato meet up for their date.)

The title page features Onodera walking back to the clinic, bread in hand, with a cat cozying up on her leg. We are then brought to the clinic's lunchroom, with the female staff and Shizuma on break. The roster in the room shows that Onodera is extremely busy, Nakajou-sensei has afternoon house call appointments, Tatsumi is Nakajou-sensei's support for these appointments, and Shizuma has a half day and finishes in the afternoon in lieu of working on his scheduled day off.

Shizuma asks his coworkers what presents they like from their partners and takes note of their answers. One of the female nurses asks if it's Minato's birthday. Shizuma confesses that their relationship has been affected by the various things happening lately, so he wants to get Minato a gift before seeing him later that day.

The nurses quickly pick up that the gift is a "tribute" of sorts as this line of work means a lot of missed appointments and dates, and Shizuma confirms their suspicions. While the nurses realise male-male relationships and male-female relationships aren't that different in this aspect, everyone in the lunchroom is alerted to someone shouting Nakajou-sensei's name.

Shizuma and a nurse see Tatsumi with Nakajou-sensei, who has collapsed on the floor. While the staff are concerned about Nakajou's well-being, she brushes it off as a dizzy spell. Before they can help her up, Onodera sweeps her off her feet and carries Nakajou to her (Onodera's) office. While Nakajou asks Onodera to put her down out of sheer embarrassment, Shizuma and Tatsumi are in shock, with Tatsumi commenting on Onodera's manliness in that moment. One of the other nurses gently smacks Shizuma's shoulder and tells the two to grab a blanket and a drink for Nakajou.

In her office, Onodera asks Nakajou why she's been overworking herself to the point of collapsing. The nurse (who gave the gentle smack) very obviously hints to Onodera that it is her fault. As Nakajou calms the nurse by saying that's just how the director is, Tatsumi asks Nakajou about their afternoon appointments. She says she'll be fine to go after a little rest, but the nurse says she mustn't overexert herself.

After a few back and forths about who should go and the clients' needs/personality (picky about the vet, had a pet that doesn't like men, etc), Onodera says she will go. The nurses are shocked and reminisce about all the issues they've had when Onodera interacts with the owners. Tatsumi and Shizuma stand there, and can very clearly imagine those situations happening.

While Onodera rearranges and informs the nurses of the shift changes to accommodate Nakajou-sensei, Shizuma has a terrible premonition that unfortunately comes true: he is appointed as Onodera's support for the afternoon house calls.

Wearing a sulky expression, Shizuma packs the necessary equipment in Onodera's car and reminds her that he has a very important engagement that night that he cannot miss, and as such will leave immediately after the house call appointments are done. Onodera bursts his bubble, and tells him to give up on those plans while he can since this is the line of work he's chosen.

As Shizuma reads the client files, he questions Onodera on why he is her support when he's never attended to these clients before. While Onodera tells him that good coordination is important with a physician's support and that he's the only one she can rely on to give her an honest opinion and calm the clients, Shizuma realises that he's basically the mediator between her and the owners. She confirms that this is his strong point, has great expectations for him, and proceeds to drive. Shizuma then reads the patient files at lightning speed, realising there's a threatening 'something' that Minato has sensed, but that's just how the director is. He then vows to make it to their meeting tonight, no matter what.

The first three house calls, as expected, involve Onodera insulting and angering the owners--Onodera tells the first client that his insistence on seeing Nakajou rather than a 'young' director is having a negative effect on his pet who needs immediate medical care; Onodera offends the second client, inferring from their conversation that her pet's appearance is more important than the need to shave their fur and get an ultrasound done; Onodera accuses the third client of being irresponsible in caring for his exotic animals and asks for more effort on his part. In all three scenarios, Shizuma awkwardly smiles while trying to ease the tension.

The scene skips to Onodera and Shizuma arriving at their fourth and final house call for the day. Just as Onodera explains to Shizuma that she must check a whole host of things at house calls (and indirectly be too blunt about it with the owners), Shizuma asks her to consider the owner's feelings and change when and how she says things. She glares ahead in silence, and Shizuma is just glad that she is now aware of it. He again reminds her to talk with the owner nicely and gently as he probably won't be able to help with the next client as their pet dislikes men. Onodera tells him to just sit in the corner and witness the client become furious while he doesn't help, making him feel slightly guilty for saying that. He is now adament on not helping her.

They reach the owner's home and we meet an elderly woman named Shiratori and her 9-year-old male cat, Tono. Shiratori apologises to Shizuma as her cat doesn't like men. Tono hisses at them as Onodera opens his cage, but is then coaxed into submission by Onodera who covers his vision with a towel and takes him into her lap to calm down. Shiratori and Shizuma are surprised at his sudden docile nature, with Shizuma witnessing how well she deals with animals.

As Shizuma looks on at Onodera while she completes a check on Tono, he sees she is crumbling at the friendliness and talkative nature of Shiratori, who sings nothing but praise for Onodera and how her family must be proud to have such an amazing daughter. Aiming to ease her troubles and remembering the earlier guilt-trip she gave him, he redirects Shiratori's attention to her broken fly screen and offers to fix that plus everything else that needs repair in her home.

Onodera watches as the two leave the room for a bit before apologising to Tono for ignoring him. Tono looks on at Onodera happily while she asks him how he can live with such a lively human and to tell her his secret to this. She brings him into her arms once more to check his limbs, and as Tono looks up smiling at Onodera, Onodera sees her reflection in Tono's eyes, and both seem to realise something.

BG Text: Stare...

Suddenly, Shizuma and Shiratori, who are busy fixing the window, hear a loud crash and rush into the room to find Tono atop the cabinet and Onodera on the floor, with her hair in disarray. In the next panel, Tono is shown to be hiding in the bookshelf, looking on irritatingly at the humans. Shiratori apologises to Onodera, who shakes it off and says it's nothing to worry about and no harm's been done.

Shiratori asks if Onodera will fix/tie her hair up again, but when Onodera says her hair tie was broken when Tono used her as a launchpad to get on the cabinet, Shiratori runs to get her a new one. As Shiratori gushes over the 3 piece dopey looking character hair tie set she received as a present from her grandchild (and lets Onodera pick one), a greatly displeased look is plastered on Onodera's face. Shizuma, in shock, notices her displeasure and hopes she just thanks Shiratori for it. And Onodera does, bringing a great big smile to Shiratori's face.

As Onodera and Shizuma leave, Shiratori says she's glad to have talked with Onodera and invites her to come over again. As she says this, we see Onodera looking back with a blank look in her eyes.

Like I've seen artists always mention about how they scan traditional drawing and upload them to their computer but like how??? first let me preface this by saying you don’t ever have to be sorry to ask a question and even though i’m having an internal crisis about my age it is absolutely not your fault for not knowing and i am happy to answer and happy to help and i am not in any way trying to embarrass or poke fun at anyone but myself and also good thing you asked this this year when i actually have access to my trusty old scanner again lol.

groovy public service announcement with hip and modern music in the bg: learn to use a scanner not just for doodling but also for life!! old people will be amazed and astounded by your command of technology in a professional setting, it’s a life skill at any age. Using it for doodles is a great motivator.

Step One: Draw a Drawing

i’m using scrap paper because i’m lazy and because sometimes fitting a sketchbook in a scanner is a hassle because you might have to hold it in place. (There are sketchbooks like grumbacher which come with removable tabs that i’d recommend for stuff you want to scan but dont want to tear out of your sketchbook.)

Step Two: Pop it in your All in One Printer/Scanner that you totally definitely maybe have (or borrow someone else’s, you can do this for free at your local library and tbh their scanners are probably bigger) And Make Sure It’s Facing the Right Way Please

Step Three: Find the cables for your all in one printer/scanner that has been in storage for 3 years and actually hasn’t met your computer and needs to be introduced to it and thus you need to download the scanner app and oh my god this took slightly longer than expected aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

(a newer printer/scanner would be easier but mine is an oldboi and my computer has had some issues in the past so it’s a few apps short of a brain) (Oldboi scanner connects to laptop-kun via a USB cable because it pre-dates wireless printers that are much more common these days)

There is a button on the scanner I could press, but it’s probably actually better and easier to do it by opening the scanner app on the computer because you should preview your scan first in order to crop it and make sure it all fits and isn’t at a weird angle etc etc.

Step Four: Preview your image and make any adjustments necessary. I’ve cropped it but I’m not messing with the settings (the resolution would be important if you plan to print the image later and you might want to change it from colour to greyscale, but if you forget you can still do this in your editing program of choice really easily.

Step 5: Hit that scan button

and voila, your scanner has created an image that you can save, put on a usb stick, email to yourself, print, or whatever.

The scanner did a pretty good job of ignoring the big smudge i’d made by accident near his face, but I will want to open this up in an editing program like CSP to make my sketch easier to see. Scanning tends to wash things out a little (and with reflective material it doesn’t always show up well)

My guess is that fewer people have printer/scanners these days because so much “scanning” can be done with a phone - there are scanner apps you can download to your phone that are a little more precise than just using the camera app and can take scans of things larger than would fit in a printer/scanner, I just don’t have patience for them and haven’t really used them.

Step 7: Editing your drawing

I won’t go into this because it depends on what program you use to edit but It usually helps to adjust the brightness/contrast of the lineart layer (I have this under Edit > Tonal Correction but it might be in a different spot in other programs)

and if your program also has level correction that’s really helpful with cleaning up lineart

as you can see it’s picked up all the gross smudges - so i move around these arrows to try to get them as clear as possible : ) I think the arrows are for white, grey and black respectively (or at least, bright, midtone, and dark).

in csp what I would do is hit “convert brightness to opacity” which should make all the white areas transparent so you can colour under the line art. You can usually achieve something similar by changing the layer to “Multiply” in other programs.

voila! Now you can use the sketch as is, draw over it or under it, make copies, whatever you want.
