Buck and Eddie's relationship is so special to me because it isn't just coworkers, it isn't just friends, it isn't just family, it's all of that and more. It isn't just anything, it's a bit of everything. It's a partnership. They're a team. They give each other what they've always wanted in a relationship - someone to have their back and see them.

Buck felt like he wasn't wanted growing up, that he was expendable, Eddie tells Buck he's wrong. Buck's parents (and even Maddie to an extent) question Buck's choices and don't trust him to do what's best for himself - Eddie trusts Buck implicitly. Eddie trusts Buck with his son.

Eddie had so much pressure and responsibility put on him at a young age and when he failed his parents blamed him. Eddie felt like he was a failure as a father because he was overwhelmed and doing it alone. Buck saw Eddie struggling and instead of doing it for him or blaming him for failing, he helped Eddie find solutions or ways to help himself.

They don't let each other talk bad about themselves. They've got each other's backs. They believe the best in each other. They call each other out when they're being idiots. They worry about each other. They create a space where they can be vulnerable together.

Anyone who loves Buck but hates Eddie doesn't really love Buck because if you did, you wouldn't hate one of his favourite people.

in honor of FHJY, I recreated That Photo in heroforge.

they don't have martini glass in heroforge :/ i was going to do the chalice but it's too high fantasy, so he has some sort of brown liquid instead [whiskey? scotch? i'm sorry i don't drink] instead of a martini. I tried to do kalina's hand as if it was holding a martini glass though.

I also realized like 90% of the way through the extremely detailed and difficult advance posing process that brennan specifies that kalina is "a little taller than pok, probably 4 to 4 1/2 feet tall" and heroforge has like. specific height measurements that are supposed to correspond to real life heights. and my kalina is way way too big. but resizing her would erase like a solid hour of work so maybe another time. she's still "a little taller than pok", probably just a little more tall than she would've been.

I was torn b/w the furry animal torso and smooth animal torso, but since Kalina is specifically described as looking like a domestic housecat, I feel like the furry one is too shaggy and unkempt. I wish her claws were more subtle but thems the breaks.

it doesn't specify whether kalina's arm is also around pok, but doing other poses just looked weird. if kalina was the right size it would be around his waist not his shoulder but again, thems the breaks.

someday, if heroforge finally adds a suit jacket that is fully buttoned up, i will put it on pok. they have open suit jacket and one button buttoned suit jacket, but none where both buttons are buttoned. this is my purgatory.

they also don't have any like. 'satin' cloth pre-made color. i'm actually pretty proud of how her dress turned out.

do you have any favorite meta or analysis from yourself or other people for orv? reading peoples takes in the meta channel of orvcord (orv discord) was addicting and i want more. even if you dont I still want to hear you talk about things you like like its philosophy or inspiration and stuff.

Aaah, ok, I tried to answer this ask a few days ago and wrote like a few paragraphs each for some of my favorite meta things, but Tumblr just like deleted it when I tried to post（ TT 。TT ）... I've posted these things before and don't have the same energy to completely resummarize them so if you don't wanna search through my archive for the og posts you can go ahead and ask specifying questions but I'm just gonna list my favorite meta things to analyze.

1. JHY's transmess & progression of transfem portrayals throughout the ORV narrative + implications on the idea of a 'character' between the expectations and intentions of writers and readers.

2. YSA's role in the story and commentary on relationship between female characters and roles with agency in narrative + emphasis on Journey to the West commentary in particular.

3. Reader/writer/character trifecta in ORV epilogues, particularly how the OD works in terms of KDJ's character, reader expectation, and the idea of 'probability.' + the idea that when KDJ looked up WoS the first time he genuinely just typed something like 'how do you keep living in a terrible world like this' and HSY's story with YJH was the answer that came up.

+ Bonus is drawing connections between KDJ's mom and the myth her constellation backer is from, that post might be more recent? Then of course anything that's like connections between KDJ's youth and the way he acts as an adult.
