So I've watched episode 5 of the new season.

When I've started to watch the series I thought Guillermo and Nandor would get together. Now I don't think it will happen. But that doesn't mean that all of the feelings aren't still there. I think they are not friends nor lovers, they are somewhere in between the lines.

Often in fiction we don't really like when things are blurry. I think however that it is more real that way.

It is some kind of breakup. A friendship one or a lover's (or even both).

Guillermo has been looking for a same purpose for 15 years and realized it was not what he truly needed (plus, he doesn't have forever to waste). It must be hard just to walk into a new life without a goal, especially after having the same on for 15 years.

He feels like he has waisted years, has been used and abused relentlessly. He needs to get out of the vampire's house because he does no longer share the same needs, and he needs to reinvent something TO HIMSELF, that will be only his.

So that is why he is frustrated when the vampires came at his work, and messed with it. But at the same time, he does not know how to live without them, it's been so long and they are the closest to friends that he has.

While for Nandor, we know he has like an existential crisis since episode one (of the series). He feels like he has no purpose because he's living for so long that everything seems pointless. He had found a new purpose in Guillermo, as he said, to make him a good vampire. Of course he made mistakes, but like he said (again) he has been loyal.

And it's that kind of devotion, one towards another that is so precious, and they know it. They just do not know how to navigate now that things are not as clear as they have been. They have to create a new dynamic. And if they don't, their relationship will flutter. But at the same time they are both hurt, so it's hard to do the first step when you want the other to do it and you don't know how to let it know. It's hard to navigate in the blurry.

Guillermo is just trying to move on at this point, that is why he tries to minimize it. But it gives the reverse impression, that he has already moved on, while he clearly hasn't. With Jordan it's the master/familiar thing all over again.

So yeah, maybe it's a breakup or it's just a moment between theses two trying to approach what they have going on differently.

At one point, I personally think, they could have been lovers in the series, but now the moment seems to have passed. They are left with too many questions and probabilities that they will never explore and I think that's why it's so tense between these two.

honestly I'm really enjoying it just based off of the pre-release stuff, these characters look like they're going to be exactly that blend of ridiculous and emotionally constipated that hits me so right.

Nearly 20 years ago, when Sebastián was still a young apprentice, his mentor had warned him that vampires lived off intrigues and drama. Considering Sebas had only ever crossed vampires in less amicable circumstances, he never got the chance to refute that idea... Galeb, however, was doing a marvelous job at proving his mentor right. This conversation, as engaging as it was, felt like a mind game of its own.

Was Galeb really trying to see how much this mage could make out of his words by being purposefully cryptic? Fun, he thought.

"Yeah. I guess if I did hunt something, it wouldn't be vampires. It'd be other mages," he shrugged shamelessly, laying the bait to see if that piece of information out of context was enough to pique the other's interest. Every reaction he could squeeze out of the vampire seemed to be winning him points, so why not up the stakes?

He offered Galeb a smile, amused at the thought of being the first mage to engage him in conversation. His comment was cut short by the arrival of their waitress, who brought a new bottle of wine. Sebas made sure to thank her before refilling their cups.

"Is that a smile I'm seeing? I must be growing on you," he finally teased, looking back up at the other. Sure, a faint curve on the Galeb's lips was hardly a smile, but its meaning wasn't lost on Sebastián. Besides, he didn't have the faintest intention of hiding how much he was enjoying this exchange. "Since I'm being tested, do I also get a grade and positive feedback at the end of our session? You know, so I can improve on my Kindred-amusing skills in the future."

"Mm. A surprising conclusion." One that he wouldn't have expected of many he came across, not even those of his own kind. Not that the Kindred made of a show it, idly moving his now empty glass off to the side a little just to keep it out of the way for the next one. He still wished there was blood in it, but between the passable wine and rather engaging company, his grievances over the lack of blood weren't his highest priority.

After all, he wasn't sure if he'd ever have the chance to have such a civil discussion with a mage again, certainly not one where the two weren't trying to kill each other.

Though he did find it interesting that Sebastian made it clear that hunting wasn't his speciality, especially since the vampire couldn't promise the same. He was the Camarilla's executioner, if the Prince wanted someone or something hunted down, Galeb had been the current and previous Prince's first choice.

It probably wasn't the best idea to admit that to him, however, simply offering a quiet noise in response. "Mm." He murmured instead, wondering what else the man might see in that, if anything.

"I wouldn't take it personally. I greet all beings with the same disdain. No one is to be trusted. Not even my own kin." Perhaps especially his own kind, given his experiences with so many of them already. His own childe being a perfect example. Yes, he was his only progeny, but he'd also abandoned the younger vampire for over a century because he couldn't stand his appalling behaviour and how he treated people. "But no... you're the first." He looked back at him properly this time, eyes narrowing as if they were bearing right down into Sebastian's soul. "You get one chance... and this is it." His lips curved faintly at one side, glancing down with a sly look in his eyes. "No pressure, of course."

To my fellow US Americans: If you are planning on arming yourselves because of the election results and what might be on the horizons, I urge you to be a responsible gun owner.

Take as many classes as you can. Get certified in gun safety, even if it's not required to own a gun in your state. Get a gun safe. A good gun safe. Lock your gun up. Don't leave it armed. Don't wave your guns or gun-owning status around and don't pose with guns like they're toys. I'd say not to make gun buying an impulse purchase, either. You are investing in something that holds great potential risk to yourself and others - treat it like a responsibility.

I'm not here to argue about if Americans ought to exercise the second amendment in the way it currently exists. That's not the point - we have always had the second amendment, and I doubt it's going anywhere. I am more interested in making sure we don't see a surge in accidental, negligent gun ownership.

As a queer person in the US, I can understand the mindset behind people's spiked interest in arming themselves. I'm not arguing against that. As a child of gun owners, I know just how huge a responsibility it is to own a gun, and I hate the general attitude we Americans have about guns. Please don't contribute to that. If you own a gun, it is you inherent responsibility to take care of that gun (which is why I can't own a gun yet - I don't have the resources to pour into proper ownership).

Johnny frowns when he sees the northwest corner window still lit. It's 0200, why are you still in the tech building? Are you working?

It's easy to slip inside. The computer jockeys don't pay attention to their security, they think their key cards are the end all be all. Good thing his works for every door that exists on this base.

He stops to watch you, before making himself known. Watches how your shoulders slump with your posture melted, forehead in your hands. You blink at one of the screens, just barely squinting, quick fingers across the keys in a record time. He knows from your file that you're a bit of a marvel, procured for intelligence from a backwater town in the United States, impressed the brass all the way to the acting director of the CIA. You can do things with computers that would make a civilian's head spin. And yet... you can't get to class on time. Can't remember to eat. Can't sleep through the night. Can't communicate with your peers or superiors effectively. Can't hold still.

He can fix that.

"What's my wee genius up in the middle o' the night?" You shriek at the sound of his voice, whirling in a panic, eyes darting to every dark corner while your hands stick out in front of you. He sighs.

"S-Sergeant." you stammer, and it's so cute, the way you get so twisted up, the way you tremble when he looks at you. He could eat you up. But not tonight. Stepping closer, he can see the stress on your face as clear as day, and it twists like a knife in his gut. He wants to see your other face, the sweet one, the submissive, teary, dreamy, floating face, the one you made after he took the paddle across your ass fifteen times and made you squirm. The face you made when you were out of your body. The face after you cried out your last count, half lost to the pain.

"Ye're done for the evening."

"What? No, no- I... I have to get this done. It's for tomorrow and if it's not done, Chief Laswell will-"

"Do we need another lesson? Maybe one on following orders?" He lets his tone go sharper, rougher, and when you react, eyes widening before they're cast downward, pleasure moves through his body at lightning speed. There it is.

"No, sir."

"Do ye need me to accompany you back to your quarters to ensure ye follow my instruction?"

"No." You glare, and then immediately look away with defeat. "Sir." He motions for you to get up, pulling your backpack from the ground and tucking the thermos and folder from the desk inside, zipping it up and ensuring it's not too heavy before handing it off to you.

"Good girl. Off ye get."
