Why exactly was the Jedi Order ‘deeply flawed’? Specify, please. What were its real flaws? Give me examples that haven’t debunked million times before by other people. Not ‘too close to the Republic/Senate’ (because it worked for a thousand of years, it’s not Jedi’s fault that the Senate has become greedy). Not ‘children-stealers’ (they’re not). Not ‘slave-owners of the clone army’ (they’re not, clones belonged to the Senate). Not ‘they forbid attachments’ (‘attachment’ doesn’t mean ‘love’ in SW, it means ‘unhealthy possessiveness’ ). Not ‘they don’t stop slavery/other evil in the galaxy’ (1. They’re too few for that anyway. 2. Isn’t it the Senate’s job? Why no one blames the Senate with the same fervor?). Not ‘they didn’t help Anakin with his mental health’ (they did, but you cannot help a person who doesn’t want to apply your help).

Things a random person is trying to claim canon on Snape and the Marauders over one of my videos since I can't fall asleep cus of sickness + they are EXTREMELY stupid for a 17yo:

James was "provoked" and did it to "protect his girlfriend from the enemy" (the "gf" in question which hated him and refused to date him till their 7th year, and the enemy being her best friend)

Severus physically hit children (only happened in the movies where his character was cut by more then half ☠)

Physically abused Harry for 7 years (girl do you know how to read?)

He was a stalker (??? Mixing him much with the marauders who literally had a map that showed who is where and when? 🤨)

Severus called lily a slvt (what even???l

She said Severus trying to apologize for using the word 'mudblood' is "guilt tripping" (you would've cried over him not apologizing, right? ☠)

Came to attack me for shipping Snupin as if that had anything to do with the convo lol (didn't have anything smart to say ig)

Continued it by saying that Remus was a marauder and that they all hated Snape - also untrue regardless, he was the only one to call him be his name and to feel bad for him, also the only one to not laugh at him at the worst memory.

i feel like. I can kind of understand where this person is coming from like yes he does have flaws and make mistakes and I acknowledge this but there's a difference between saying a character doesn't have flaws and defending them from fans who demonize/heavily mischaracterize them.

in fords case, there are so many people shitting on him for things that are false or misinterpretations of things he’s said and done. a good chunk of the fandom has an irrational hatred for him.

as well as this the fandom also waters down his trauma to make it seem like nothing compared to Stan's as well as making countless jokes about his trauma. for example, the thousands of jokes made about bills abuse of ford. I cannot count the times I've seen people look at this abuse and their only takeaway/only thing they have to say about this is 'haha he fucked the triangle.' as someone who's been in an abusive relationship in the past it is extremely tiring to see these jokes constantly thrown around about bill and fords relationship. either people are ignorant and cannot see that their relationship is textbook abuse or they do know but just don't care(what is wrong with you) and I genuinely don't know what's worse.

as well as this, there is a tremendous amount of victim blaming being made towards ford when discussing ford and bills relationship. I've seen so many people straight up say it's ford's own fault for getting abused by bill and it was because of his 'hubris' and 'huge ego' and his 'selfishness', which is no thing to ever say about a victim of abuse. ive also seen people call ford 'stupid' for getting manipulated by bill, which is a) wrong, because bill has successfully manipulated and abused many others before for(have you read tbob), and has manipulated other members of the pines family shown in the show, and b) just victim blaming. I don't even know what else to say about this but many of you cannot be normal about abuse victims in media.

regarding his growing distance with fiddleford during portal construction era, this is caused by bill isolating ford from him, one of the only humans he's in contact with which is a technique often used by abusers. many people claim this is because ford 'views fiddleford as lesser', or 'has little respect towards him', which is straight up wrong. ford states in the journal that he is a great friend and a brilliant scientist and engineer, and his appreciation of him is shown through his excitement of his arrival and immediately gets to making him feel welcome in his home and gifts him with microchips and banjo strings. in fact, when they first met in college, ford was the only one who genuinely believed his theory and he immediately jumped to helping him prove it for 9 hours, despite barely knowing the man. their bond, whether romantic or platonic is strong and that's why bill's isolating ford from fiddleford is so vital to bills abuse of ford.

not only that but these people are obsessing over Stan's homelessness for ten years but don't dare acknowledge that ford has been homeless for thirty. they fail to acknowledge that both Stan and ford were being abused by filbrick even if it showed in different ways. ford wasn't favored by his mother(his mother favored stan) and his father didn't see him as anything but a way to make money for his family, providing him only conditional love and not seeing him as his own person aside from his intelligence and his hands. this is often something many immigrant children experience, having endless pressure to succeed and get top notch grades and choose a high salary career in order to raise their family out of poverty. and if they were to slip up, they would often get severely punished or even physically hurt as a result. so logically, ford being upset by this is very understandable, not to mention he was also a teenager when this happened.

i have more examples I could use, but tldr, defending ford from fandom mischaracterization, victim blaming, and from claims being made about him that are blatantly false is not equal to saying he lacks flaws or hasn't made mistakes.

alright, i'm gonna talk abt the workaholic thing with keqing and ganyu again. because it's so stupid how the game had currently jobless trav & paimon attending a lantern rite festival as guests for fun, trying to reprimend governmental officials responsible for organizing said festival for... doing their job?? like are they stupid

"gosh, keqing and ganyu are always working and we can't force them to have fun against their will" PAIMON YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE A JOB!!! AND THEY'RE THE GOVERNMENT OF LIYUE, THIS IS RIDICULOUS!! Those characters constantly telling keqing and ganyu to take care, and going on and on about them being such workaholics is meaningless and just feels like completely missing the point, and not actually understanding or respecting the job of a Yuheng and Qixing's General Secretary. Those are BIG titles with big responsibility. They're busy women for a reason, and they're passionate and genuinely enjoy their work, because it's literally about leading and bettering their whole country. They work hard for their home and the people.

so it's really nonsensical and cheap for hoyo to keep doing the same joke over and over again, it's meaningless at this point and doesn't even make sense considering all the different mentions of keqing becoming better at work-life balance. hoyo really managed to make the message of "don't work too hard! take care of yourself!" feel shallow and patronizing, what a feat!!

like, the scene where traveler tells ganyu to take care and she just looks at keqing and responds with "thanks for your concern, we'll be sure to take care" is very good. it doesn't feel obnoxious on it's own! but unfortunately it wasn't just this moment in the story, nope. there was more and it was bad

I feel like if you somehow managed to get 'Hermes doesn't love nor care about Luke' from literally any of his appearances, you read the books with your eyes closed.

I love singNsong again reminding people in Side Story that Dokja wanted other people to read TWSA (he wrote reviews and comments! It was his first wish), and he only stopped bothering because people harassed him for it. He didn't gate-keep the story. When he's avoiding talking to Sangah about it at the beginning of ORV, it's because he knows what happens when he tells people about the story, not because he's gate-keeping it from her. He notes he's not proud of his hobby (likely because he's been bullied all through his life, including for reading the thing he loves): he finds it embarrassing to talk about, and better respects her studying Spanish in her free time (learning another language is a generally accepted thing in society). He assumes she won't care or will look at him funny (or worse) for when she learns about the novel he's into.

Basically anyone writing "let's gatekeep ORV" posts because of the anime announcement or because they dislike the manhwa or some other weirdness, y'all are the villains in the scenario.

The literal climax of the story is about sharing ORV with as many people as possible. What story were y'all reading?

defending some of my favorite characters in media part one: misato katusragi from evangelion

if i see one more post being like "misato is a groomer!! misato is a pedophile!!" i will actually lose my fucking shit. how immature ARE y'all?? throughout the show, misato has been nothing but a mother figure to shinji. "but, the phone call with ritsu-" it's called a joke, you actual fucking dumbass. misato and ritsuko are close. when you are close with someone, you make jokes. IT'S CALLED COMMON SENSE. "but she kissed him" TO MOTIVATE HIM. misato literally knows no other way to encourage someone other than using her body. i'm not saying that what she did was okay, but i'm saying that she was doing all that she could think of in the moment. mind you that she was literally dying in this scene. not to mention, when everybody was in instrumentality, she says to him "i never wanted you to see this side of me." she didn't WANT shinji to think of her in that way, so why would she be coming on to him if she didn't want him to see her that way? be so fr. she said "we'll do the rest later" to motivate shinji. shinji is a teenage boy. teenage boys are hormonal. she is assuming that's what shinji wants. she is blindly trying to give him hope because the person this traumatized kid sees as his mother is LITERALLY DYING, not to mention the third impact is happening. shinji's mental health was in shambles at this point to where he could barely even stand up. she was doing all that she could think of to help him. it was a last resort thing that she never wanted to do. and she literally didn't even do anything sexual, she just kissed him and made a bit of a suggestive comment as a desperate attempt to help shinji in the only way she can think of how. the point of nge was to represent trauma. the finale is titled "take care of yourself" for a reason. y'all don't understand misato's character and it shows. it's like the point literally flew over you head. thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Okay so short comment on the first Dark Beginnings part

For the good, ANIMATION IS SO PRETTY GO;SDFBHKGSDZBIKG LIKE LOOK AT THIS AWESOMENESS AND HOW IT SNAPS AROUND SO WONDERFULLY IT IS A JOY TO THE EYES AND IN 4K SO YOUTUBE DIDN'T COMPRESS IT TO HELL AND BACK YOU CAN ADMIRE EACH FRAME

Also the SOUND DESIGN AND MUSIC??? It's so good. So detailed. So perfect.

and that's about it.

I admit, I'm a little saddened by it immediately snapping to the present. I know, it's to promote the game, but I just really wanted some time spent with Shadow and Maria on the Ark. We really have gotten so little of that in the games and with this being called "Dark Beginnings" I was thinking it would actually be a bit about Shadow's beginnings, not just the game's beginning. Maybe that's stupid of me to even think, but I wanted to see Shadow and Maria without it being another illusion!

Plus, yeah, you can tell Flynn is writing this.

And that kills a lot of my enthusiasm. Sometimes it's good! I thought a lot of this was good! But once in awhile there's a line that reminds you who the one writing is. If you like him, great! It's those little things that bother me and overall make me disinterested in the story of SXSG as a whole. I don't like his writing style so I can pretty well guess I won't like it in-game.

Also, I'm sorry, I still don't like Kirk's Shadow voice. He's a very good actor, but I don't like that particular voice for Shadow. I prefer a smoother voice and Kirk's is quite raspy. I watched this in both Japanese and English and it was a better experience in Japanese. I think if I eventually play SXSG, I'm gonna do it in Japanese. It's been that big of an issue for me. (and I'm someone who prefers the dub of Xenoblade 2! JUSTICE FOR AL WEAVER)

I don't know. Maybe I'm just being bitter, not really enjoying Sonic as much, but god do I want to be excited for this. I want to join in on everyone saying "this is gonna be peak" but I just can't.

It's kinda Fuckin Insane to me that in all of Steven Universe, despite everything being centered on him... it's almost never actually about him.

You can see that in the extended intro. IN THE EXTENDED INTRO.

Garnet fights for her right to exist as a fusion. Pearl fights for her love for Rose. Amethyst fights for her home.

Steven fights because the gems want him to.

And like. It's the point of so many episodes. The Test isn't *about* him, it's the gems trying to make uim feel better because *they* feel bad. Rose's Scabbard was never about him, it was Pearl trying to talk to him about Rose but it was Pearl trying to show how much SHE mattered to Rose. Mindful Education spends 90% of the runtime being about a minor incident with Connie because Steven doesn't want to make it about him! Connie's entire season 5 subplot is her making the start of the season not be about Steven! Even the final conflict. Even when the gems go to Homeworld to talk to the Diamonds, it's not because of Steven. It's not for him to get closure on the people who have caused him an absurd amount of hardship over the last 5 seasons. It's to cure the corrupted gems.

Steven Universe's story is never about its protagonist, because he actively chooses for it not to be. And that evolves into the monstrous issues that arise in Steven Universe Future.
